Lauren recently revealed her debut album RE:BIRTH along with the lead single “Shadow“. The debut single was written about Lauren’s own personal shadow-work, a process of deep reflection and commitment to self-awareness to get to know the parts of oneself that often subconsciously lurk in the shadows of our minds. Sonically, the album’s first single is an expansive arrangement juxtaposed between a dynamic percussive profile, innovative synthesis and next-generation melodic techno. With entrancing vocals by Luke Coulson masterfully sewn into the captivating analog sounds and soul of the track, “Shadow” is a brooding introduction and strong first single that lays the groundwork for the poignant body of work that is Lauren Mia’s RE:BIRTH.

Charismatic memer Guard released the first single, ‘color by numbers’ on 1 October 2023. It is the first single from his upcoming second album IT WAS ALL A MEME… – set to hit the airwaves on October 27th 2023. Born in a small town in South Africa before immigrating to Australia at a young age, Guard was brought up on the internet, fostering a love for pop music & pop culture, expressing himself through poetry, lyrics, filmmaking and graphic design. He has a strong presence in the internet’s meme community, with a combined following of over 1 million. Using his meme pages as a base, he has launched a following for his own musical project. Guard creates conceptual, unexpected pop music that draws from personal experience, aiming to blur the lines between technology and humanity so that listeners are forced to remain aware of – and continue to question – society around them.
‘color by numbers’ is a moody, confessional self-portrait that navigates the sometimes confusing dating game. He collaborated with fellow queer artist Indiana Williams on the lyrics which tell the story of Guard finally feeling mentally stable enough to look for companionship. Backed by a Post Malone-esque gritty, dark trap production, Guard’s smooth and emotive vocals paint a hazy, smokey sonic picture. You emerge from listening feeling dazed, but moved.
Guard’s self-directed & edited music video shows the story behind a scar on his sternum. He divulged: “I wanted to be brave as an artist and show an aspect of myself that I try to hide & in a sense paint a picture of who I truly am. My scars make me stronger & there is a lesson to be learned through every adversity. However, I think it’s also okay to want to pursue things that don’t sabotage my mental well-being & to not want “just another lesson”. My journey over the past few years has been learning how to trust and respect myself.”

Black Tish originally formed in 1988 in Brussels, Belgium as a sort of experimental/post metal fusion project that incorporated early industrial sound into their work before industrial was really a thing. Founder and scientist Bob Coecke used cutting edge sampling techniques for the time, a host of synth and sound loops and metal-style guitars to create a heavy rock/electronica fusion unlike anything heard before. Unfortunately it also wasn’t heard after for many years as well, as differing opinions and tastes within the band’s original line-up kept their first album, Throbbing Flip Out. Finally completed ten years after it began in 1998, Coecke’s move to Oxford in England to study physics meant the project was shelved once again.
Another 25 years takes us to now, and Throbbing Flip Out is finally out, along with a new sister album called Viral Apocalypse by Coeke with Bruce Warner on Bass and daughter Marieke Coecke on backing vocals. The desire for Coecke to continue the project seems to come from some pinnacle he’s reached both in his scientific work and his conception of his music. The original project in 1988 had a strong nod to musique concrète, a very early genre of electronic music and sound study which uses loops of sound to create beats, melodies and full songs rather than instruments. This obviously inspired Coecke as a scientist as well as an artist, and the sonic science of loops and sampling is present on both albums.
Now a well-known quantum physicist who works specifically on the new cutting edge discipline of quantum computing, Coecke has put together Viral Apocalypse with the same focus on looped sounds and acoustical work but there’s a definite modern edge to the new album. Coecke has said that Throbbing Flipping Out took influence from other industrial pioneers like Throbbing Gristle, Ministry and Butthole Surfers and it’s apparent in that album’s sound. Grungy, raw and using vintage loops while adding metal, the foundation was all there from the beginning. Viral Apocalypse, however, is updated with modern methods, software, drone and a buttload more guitars, it’s where fans would have expected Black Tish to be as they avolved over the years without the gap.
It’s clear that Coecke’s scientific interest in and macabre sense of sound composition has never left him through all these years, and now he’s able to use the tech advancements that may not have been available in the 80s and 90s to make a slicker version Black Tish that can now be defined as industrial post metal. Now working with even more innovative techniques up to and including making music on quantum computers for the next album (due out in about a year, not another 25), it seems Coecke and Black Tish are now more than ready to take their place on the cutting edge of industrial music.
Throbbing Flip Out and Viral Apocalypse are out now and available to stream on Spotify.

LP Giobbi is back with a brand new single “Time Expands” and it is the launch of her new label, Yes Yes Yes, part of the Defected Records Family. “Time Expands” is a wonderful exploration of LP Giobbi’s trademark sound. Built around a grooving synth bassline, there’s just enough weird elements plugged into the track that make it distinctly an LP Giobbi track. No one in dance music so seamlessly incorporates that Laurel Canyon sound into house music the way LP does. “Time Expands” is no different. Featuring a blistering bassline along with a synthesized guitar rhythm, “Time Expands” is a pitch perfect entryway into Yes Yes Yes records.
“I grew up going to this hippie festival in Oregon called the Oregon Country Fair. My parents started going in their 20s, and I have never missed it since the womb. It’s my favorite place on earth because it leans into weirdness, joy, and mind-opening experiences.” LP Giobbi says. “The first thing you see when you walk on site is a sign that just says, ‘Yes Yes Yes’ and it makes me smile ear to ear every single year. This label is not beholden to one genre or one particular sound. It’s simply about good dance music, made for the dancefloor that expands your mind and makes you feel good.”

“Like nothing can stop you. When I was producing WAR, I wanted to bring a lot of elements of drama and energy to really bring power to the record. I got into the studio with the talented Rico Nasty and we went in on vocals for the record. I absolutely love Rico, I think what she’s doing is so sick. Last month, we covered AC Slater & Chris Lorenzo dropping their first official Fly With Us single, “Shrine Banger.” Now the house music legends are back with another song under their Fly With Us moniker, “Seismic.” They also announced that their upcoming Shrine LA show will be moved indoors so it can run later. A victory for all parties involved.
“Seismic” is a track that will seamlessly fit into the Fly With Us set. It’s a tech house heater, but it heavily features the “jock jam” synth that plays over the beat. The drop is pure, unadulterated tech house bliss. The whistling synth that plays over the consistent drum beat is an instant groove. Again, for me, what stands out on this track is the massive synth rhythm that would be at home at any sporting event.
Nala has just been announced as support for the tour date, and instead of playing the Shrine Outdoors, the show has been moved inside. Tickets are still available here. Check out the latest Fly With Us Single, “Seismic”, out now!

In a candid conversation with YourEDM, Tim Clark, the rising star of the electronic music scene, shares his exhilarating journey from being a fan in the audience to sharing the stage with trance and progressive legend, Markus Schulz. Fresh off the first leg of ‘The Rabbit Hole Circus’ tour with Schulz, Clark delves into his experiences, the highs and lows of his career, and the passion that drives him.
From his debut at iconic venues like E11EVEN Miami, Musica New York, and Avalon Hollywood to the story behind his hit single “Oasis” on Coldharbour Recordings, Clark offers a glimpse into his world. He speaks about the challenges of winning over a new audience, the importance of reading the crowd, and the mentors and moments that have shaped his journey.

YourEDM: Congratulations on completing the first leg as the tour DJ on Markus Schulz’s ‘The Rabbit Hole Circus’ tour! How was it?

Tim Clark: Amazing experience! I appreciate that I was even there. I couldn’t have picked a better mentor than Markus Schulz; he’s absolutely
amazing.

YourEDM: Was this your first time playing at these venues: E11EVEN Miami, Musica New York and Avalon Hollywood? What was that like? Were you nervous? How did you feel before going onstage?

Tim Clark: Yes, every venue I’m playing now is a new experience for me. Every time I go up [onstage] is a first time for me. I would say I was
nervous prior, but the second I press the “play” button, all the nerves went away.

YourEDM: Markus Schulz is a trance and progressive legend of global acclaim with some of the most die-hard fans we’ve ever met. How did you
two connect? What’s the background to your relationship? What have you learned from him and/or from each other?

Tim Clark: [Last] New Year’s Eve, he played one of my tracks and he asked his [PR] manager, Emily Tan, “Who’s the producer?” She found-out it was
me and she and I connected and had me send an hour demo to Markus. He ended-up liking it and it took-off from there! I went to [Miami Music Week]
Ultra Music Festival-week this past March and met-up with Markus Schulz again there, and we hit it off and then he asked me to do the Rabbit Hole
Circus tour with him. He’s patient and took his time and helped me develop my craft. As far as his legend goes and the huge fanbase that he has, no one is more of a die-hard fan than I am! So, it’s very surreal for me to be sharing the stage with him, especially after having been on the other side out in the audience.
YourEDM: You’ve got a hot new single on Coldharbour Recordings, “Oasis.” That track’s a banger when we’ve heard it played out! What went into the
making of that production?

Tim Clark: Well, I’m from Las Vegas and I just envisioned a person going over a hill in the desert and seeing this oasis. It’s actually about my home in Vegas and that’s what inspired me. The truth of the matter is, it came out more ‘trance’ than I expected because I was pursuing a progressive-house
type track at the time. But, the finished product turned-out as a trance track instead.

YourEDM: What are your next Coldharbour releases? What can you tell us about them?

Tim Clark: I have three releases on Coldharbour, presently. The first one was “Oasis,” which is out now. The next one will be “Gateway,” for which we just got done shooting a music video in Hollywood (after Markus Schulz’s sold-out Rabbit Hole Circus show at Avalon, at which I played). After that will be “Descent,” as in “going down” the rabbit hole. There are more trance than tech-house, which is why Coldharbour was interested. My catalog of originals spans from house to trance, and Coldharbour has been interested most in my trance productions. I have other originals that are being released
through my Tradebloc Music imprint which is distributed globally by Warner Music.

YourEDM: You also have releases on other labels including your own, like “Wake Up” featuring Jessica ZenZen. We love that song! Please tell us about
your other releases on your own label. Which ones are your favorites? Which ones get the best crowd reactions when you drop them out live?

Tim Clark: I have other releases, but I’ve come to be associated with Markus Schulz and Coldharbour Recordings, most recently. “Wake Up” is one of my originals and that song gets a huge crowd reaction when I play it out live! I have a lot of terrific additional songs, like “Lost In The Moment,” “Ameritum” and about 30 others. One of my favorites is called “Forgiving Hearts,” which is a love letter to my wife. I don’t think when people first started noticing me that I’d have had so many originals recorded. I can’t wait to release them all.
YourEDM: As a producer when you’re in the studio, what’s your creative process like?

Tim Clark: I come-up with the name, first, then I plan the idea of the song. I take the track as far as I can possibly go, in terms of production, and then
I hand it off to my team who help me produce and master each track. I have the final say over each work, but the producing is a collaborative effort. I’m
a DJ/mixer first and a producer second. I’m not one of those producers first who learned how to DJ later. I’m a DJ who learned production

YourEDM: 8) You clearly enjoy yourself when you’re DJing in front of a live audience. What goes into your preparation for a live DJ set? What’s your mindset when you’re stepping onstage?

Tim Clark: I probably practice [DJing] more than anybody on the planet! Because I’m so prepared, I’m very comfortable when I walk on that stage.
The truth of the matter is, I’m more comfortable playing in front of 5,000 people than talking to five people in a room. I’m most at home behind-the- decks and a huge calm overtakes me once I get onstage.

YourEDM: Being a relatively new DJ to the scene, what are some techniques you use to win-over a crowd that may not be familiar with your releases or your style? Do you have DJ-heroes you think of as role models?

Tim Clark: I’m a natural empath and have the ability to read what the crowd wants. I would play country music if I thought the crowd wanted it! I
come to the stage with an idea of what I want to play, but then it can change immediately, depending on the crowd. I don’t hold myself to a set
script. I take the audience on a journey and I like to think of myself as a musical therapist. I know some top DJs that play scripted, whether the audience likes it or not. I’m not like that. I like to read my audience and play what they want to hear.

YourEDM: 10) You have a lot of shows coming-up! What are you — or your manager — looking for when considering new bookings?
Tim Clark: I won’t do anything that doesn’t move my career forward. I have a lot of shows coming-up, but I also have been turning down shows. If an
event isn’t something that’s progressing my career forward, then it’s not a right fit for me. For example, I’m playing the Groove Cruise Miami this year;
I’m playing the cruise itself as well as the preparty, both of which will be sold-out or are already sold-out. What I’m not going to play is some pool
party in Dallas as a one-off just for the hell of it.

YourEDM: Nearly every performing artist has war stories to tell. What are some of yours?

Tim Clark: I have a lot of stories, both as a fan and as a performer. Here’s one: I remember, in 2008, my friends and I drove from Vegas to L.A. to see my favorite DJ, Markus Schulz, play at Avalon Hollywood. It was a pretty surreal moment when, this August, I got onstage to play with him, considering I had a poster of that guy on my wall! In New York, I walked out and I had five guys in the corner chanting, “You suck, you suck!” I eventually wont them over by the fourth track. After my set, I went to the bathroom and saw one of those guys and asked him what he thought of my set, and he said, “You were a trainwreck in the beginning but then you brought it home.” Then he shows me pictures of him DJing. DJ critics, you
know. [laughs]

YourEDM: Was there a spectacularly bad show/event/night you experienced, that almost made you want to quit DJing? What did you learn from that experience to tell yourself you shouldn’t quit? What motivates you?

Tim Clark: Many times I’ve been at the top of my game, but playing in New York, I didn’t think I gave my best performance. Afterwards, I had many
moments thinking that this wasn’t for me, but my wife and daughters told me to stick with it, and now I don’t have those feelings anymore. Now, I’m all in! Everybody thinks they can sing because they do so in the shower. I’ve had moments of doubt and thinking I was being delusional, like, can I really do this? But now, after all I’ve been through, I don’t have those doubts anymore.

Dave Giles II is known for his soulful vocals and has even earned a Grammy Award for his contributions to Beyoncé’s “Cozy” from the album RENNAISANCE. Meanwhile, Sam O.B. is celebrated for his funk-infused DJ sets and productions.
These two artists joined forces in 2016, crafting unique tracks that blend hip hop and other rhythmic genres with a modern house sensibility and innovative thinking. Their earlier tracks have received remix treatments from renowned DJs like Derrick Carter, Harry Romero, and Nick Godmode.

Their recent remix of Coco and Breezy’s single “Magic” received critical acclaim, and they shared the bill with Coco and Breezy last month at the iconic ‘Elsewhere’ venue in Brooklyn, New York.

Working closely with the Classic label, Dave + Sam have honed their signature sound, consistently impressing tastemakers worldwide with each subsequent release. In “Not The Same,” their latest offering, they explore a more minimal direction, emphasizing addictive repeated lyrics imbued with a stoic bravado, all while electronic pulses twist the track into a darker realm.

On September 21, 2023, the talented American vocalist and songwriter, Klay Cartier, unveiled his latest single, ‘On The Low,’ through Kult Klassic Studios. Hailing from the American Midwest, Cartier has garnered significant attention from influential publications like CLASH Magazine, NOTION Magazine, WordPlay Magazine, Music Crowns, CLOUT, and more. His music exudes an irresistible and soulful charm, drawing inspiration from icons such as Drake, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, and Stevie Wonder. Building on his momentum, ‘On The Low’ has already premiered and received support from notable webzine EARMILK.
‘On The Low’ stands out with Klay‘s distinctive personality and confident swagger woven into its fabric. It exudes soulfulness, sensuality, and an enticing rhythm, boasting lyrics rich in flavor as Cartier showcases his vocal prowess over a simmering and dreamy R&B backdrop. Delving into the theme of forbidden love, Klay Cartier leaves nothing unsaid, openly acknowledging an enigmatic lover and their romantic escapades. It’s reminiscent of the golden era of classic R&B, evoking a real nostalgic response, when soulful R&B ruled the radio waves. Despite its classic feel though, it evokes contemporary images of artists such as Bryson Tiller and Jermemih.
Klay Cartier had this to say: “I’m so excited about this release because I’m finally giving people what they want. I’m showcasing my natural ability in R&B and I’m bringing back that classic R&B. This song is sexy, sultry and definitely an ode to the early 00’s R&B.”

It’s no secret that DROELOE is one of the most forward thinking artists around. He consistently pushes sonic and creative boundaries that make it impossible to place him in just one genre.
His latest offering – ‘The Art of Change’ – is his debut solo album and shows DROELOE at his absolute best and most vulnerable at the same time. At the same time, he seamlessly traverses indie, future bass, drum and bass, two step, UK garage genres in a way that feels entirely organic. Perhaps the most unique aspect to the album is that it documents DROELOE having conversations throughout the album with past and future selves as he ages throughout life. It’s perfectly executed and at times, sharing exuberance about life and at others, showing regret for mistakes made – all the while still wanting to make an effort to grow.
Each song is intentional and has a purpose on the album. A few standouts for us include the mesmerizing single “Strange Wave,” indie / drum n bass single “Landscape,” the anthemic tune “Lionheart” and “Counting Ten,” the album’s final number that concludes the experience in an emotive, somewhat bittersweet manner.
All in all, ‘The Art of Change’ is an album that is sure to stand the test of time – one that no matter how many times you listen – you only want to listen more.

Despite the updated big booty bass sound and feel of his most recent single “Big Drip,” the Florida-based artist known as 3Fifs generally has generally had a more-heard-hitting style during his decade-long career. The St. Louis native uses his diverse musical style to drive his deeper points home, as is exemplified in the re-release last year of one his of first and heaviest singles, “Dive In Deep.” Now with his return to hip hop, this Urban Songwriter of the Year is just getting started.
3Fifs’s name is a clear reference to the oppression and enslavement of black people in the United States, and his music started off with the same message with his debut single “Dive In Deep” and his 2013 album, Birth of a Nation. “Dive In Deep” featuring Lydia Lyon appeared later on the equally visceral The Runaway EP and is a jazzy update on the classic “Wade In the Water” spiritual song sung by enslaved people in the south.
3Fifs’s tie-ins to black history aren’t always in his vocals, as he states above, but they nonetheless are very much in the listener’s face. Both Birth of a Nation and The Runaway have stark, callback-to-slavery imagery and toggle between heavy subject matter with tracks like “Preamble,” “Jim Crow,” “Dred Scott” and, of course “Dive In Deep,” and more standard-style bangers like “Danny Bonaduce” feat. O So Amazin and Streetza Ria and “Due Time” feat. Khyre. His flexibility helps get these deeper messages across and has also amassed him an impressive following, with his new ventures amassing nearly a combined 200,000 listens on Spotify.
Since re-entering the limelight in 2021 with his single “Season of the Fall,” 3FIfs has launched into some of the newer styles like heavy bass trap but fans can bet his ties to the golden age haven’t gone away completely. The very next track after “Season of the Fall ” is “Smoke In the Breeze,” a smooth, jazzy melding of Nas-style big beat and Dr. Dre funk. Both tracks are fun, danceable, and, most importantly, contain well-spit verses with zero mumble rap.
Moving to “Big Drip,” it’s clear 3Fifs wanted to pull some throwback booty bass influence from his move to Florida, and hip hop historians will be able to hear the hint of 2 Live Crew in this track, but it’s also extremely modern and incorporates trap and pop sounds. “Big Drip” may sound like it’s just a fun, collar-popping track but 3Fifs says there’s more to it than that.

“Season of the Fall,” “Smoke In the Breeze” and “Big Drip” will all feature on 3Fifs’s upcoming The Middle Passage EP, which is due out in 2024. As has always been the case with 3Fifs, fans can expect a healthy mix of deep, thought-provoking concepts, stark imagery and a running history of music in the remaining releases. It seems 3Fifs isn’t nearly finished with his message and music yet, and hip hop can only benefit from his presence.
“Big Drip” is out now on Spotify along with the rest of 3Fifs work. For a more extensive discography, check out his SoundCloud page and for more videos, subscribe on YouTube.
