  1. From day one, every uphill battle that Craze faced was met with intense adversity; every kick while he was down only served to help him rise up even stronger. His family fled Nicaragua for the US when he was 3 in the midst of a civil war and suffered through Hurricane Andrew in ’92. While others would chalk this up to a lifetime of hurt, Craze let it fuels his passion. By the age of 20, Craze had won his first DMC World Championship. Two more consecutive wins later, he was (and remains to this day) the only three-time winner of the world’s most respected international DJ competition, the DMC World Championship – earning the attention of Time Magazine who proclaimed him “America’s Best DJ.” From Jamaica to Australia, Japan to Nicaragua, Craze has toured the world over, even joining Kanye West’s 2008 Glow In The Dark Tour, stunning audiences and DJs alike with his top-notch showmanship and masterfully genre-bending sets. Now, Craze is back with a melodic drum and bass single, “Stuck On You” with another phenomenally talented artist, Palmer Reed. Reed adds moving r&b parts that naturally gel with the sonic energy flowing as Craze delivers a sensory capturing groove that drowns out the rest of the world and hooks you into the aura of the song. It’s liquid, it’s melodic, and all together a incredible single from Craze and Palmer Reed. Craze says “‘Stuck On You’ is one of my favorite tunes that I’ve ever made. Palmer is an amazing artist and the combination of his songwriting and my drum and bass production is magic. Proper combo of RnB & Drum & Bass for clubs and radio.” Palmer Reed adds, “I wanted to highlight the moment of infatuation between two people in the perfect environment where sparks fly. I’m forever grateful for the opportunity to work with a legendary artist like DJ CRAZE. This song felt effortless to create and effortless music is the type that last forever.” Listen below! 2. Powerhouse DJ/Producer Kevin Timmer is set to release his much anticipated single, “Moonlight.” Moving in an all-instrumental direction, the energy in the track is far from lost. Timmer exuberates non-stop creative chemistry spearheading the record with an energizing blend of techno. Uplifting beats and breaks move listeners throughout the track, emitting almost 80’s nostalgia vibes. Timmer has demonstrated consistency in connecting with his audience and executing vibrant and unique records from a career standpoint. Even though Kevin Timmer is on the come up, he’s not an artist to overlook. Unfortunately, not many artists can handle the pressure of remaining nuanced within a competitive, driven industry. Luckily, Kevin has a strong circle around him to help hone his craft, continuing to mentor and pour invaluable technique and momentum into his platform, guiding the wind in his fast-rising influence. Nonetheless, his upcoming single “Moonlight” is set to turn heads, keep up with Kevin Timmer below, and follow him on Spotify for all new releases. This article was first published on Your EDM. 3. Marking his first single of the year, KULI has joined forces with LeVant and Kollberg to unveil one of the most exciting dance collaborations we’ve heard this year, combining pop-leaning vocals with top-notch production on “Day & Night.” A tune as perfect for the radio, as it is for the festival stages, “Day & Night” is out via KULI’s very own label, Futurized Recordings, and is filled with exciting moments all throughout, starting off with energetic grooves before exploding into a hard-hitting yet melodic drop. “When I got the drop from LeVant and Kollberg, I knew immediately I had to do something funky with this track,” says KULI. “The result is better than expected, when I sent the track to my producer friends, everybody was so impressed by the breaks following up the festival drops. This is one of my best tracks to date!” A multi-talented producer, designer, and entrepreneur, KULI is working hard to overcome his battle with deafness, having established himself as a visionary within the scene. Inspired by Armin Van Buuren, he fell in love with music production and has managed to sign his songs to labels such as Universal Music Group and Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings, as well as amass millions of collective streams on digital platforms. We had the opportunity to speak a little bit more about the release with Kuli! This is what he told us: Hey KULI! Talk to us a bit about the creation behind “Day & Night.” How did it come about and what does the song mean to you. LeVant and Kollberg had a drop idea lying around. As my speciality is making funky music, they asked me to make a funky break with their drop idea. I started to work with my co-producer Dusan on the break idea. After a lot of Zoom calls, Dusan and I made an arrangement where I added my stuff to the first drop to catch people off guard. After this, LeVant & Kollberg and Dusan & I had a lot of sessions to glue the parts together and finished this. The song means a lot to me because I want to do different things than usual Future Bounce and the result became superb. The reply from the audience was astonishing, people loved the breaks and the drops. So it means a lot to me that my try to go in a different direction is being appreciated by the audience. For example, I quote a fan: ‘Yo the break of the new KULI LeVant and Kollberg track is suuuuper sick, makes it feel like a full song so much more than normal future bounce tracks. It’s missing in most tracks these days tbh’. This kind of reactions makes me way more motivated to continue what I am doing. We know you like to collaborate with a lot of different people. What has been your favorite collaboration so far and why? It’s the most fun thing to do, doing collaborations. Because you are building a big family with these collaborators. For example, with Debris and LeVant I have built a true friendship with. Especially with Debris, who has helped me a lot with musical stuff and management. He is a true friend to me, we have a lot of fun together while making music and I think that’s the most important thing, while making music. What’s your inspiration behind making music? Do you have any specific things you do when being hit with writer’s block? Lately I have been doing multiple genres of music. So I think my biggest inspiration might be Martin Garrix. What he has accomplished is insane. With different genres, he is still being able to stay relevant. That makes him my biggest inspiration. When I have a writersblock, which is rare, I do other stuff, like working for Futurized or my graphic design agency Studio Pete, to do different things. How did you decide to launch Futurized Records? What’s the biggest challenge in being a label owner? Futurized actually flowed out of my friendship with Debris. I really like ‘Future Room’, the genre Debris & Jonth and Rudelies have founded. It’s a hybrid between Big Room and Future Bounce. Nowadays, it’s a hybrid between festival music and Future Bounce. I got an offer to own Futurized, I took the chance immediately, as I have owned Exposed, Loca before and love to own a label and push the other talents and build a bridge for them to top tier labels. The biggest challenge was actually in COVID-period to stay relevant with festival music as more radio-friendly music was upcoming. But we stayed true to our sound, and now we see, it’s paying off with a lot of big talents signed to Futurized! We know you have been battling with deafness. if you feel comfortable talking about it, how do you experience that as a producer and someone who works in the music industry? First, I want to say, I feel 100% comfortable talking about being deaf. It’s a part of who I am, and I want to amplify that. It makes me unique compared to the other artists. I see this as an opportunity to be blessed that I can make a difference and show that I am able to make music. Because I am using it positively, I get also a lot of positive feedback in return. The biggest challenge is that I have to use a co-producer, but I don’t make a secret out of it, because I need an extra two pairs of ears to finalize these tracks. But in the end, it’s all about having fun and being happy in what I am doing, and that is unfortunately something I have been struggling with throughout the years. But now, without limiting myself in the genres, I really have fun with producing. As both an artist and a label owner, you have a diverse set of experiences. What is your most favorite and least favorite thing about the music industry? My favorite thing in the music industry, is the community I am surrounded by. It’s amazing to see how supportive people can be to each other. The least favorite thing is that you actually have to pay to be big as a musician and your success is dependent on Spotify and / or numbers, in the meanwhile it should be about the music. What are your plans for the rest of 2022? Anything your fans should get excited about? I am going to Serbia, at the end of May to do a writerscamp with Dusan, that is where I am most excited for. Also, I have music ready for upcoming months after working a full year on the music. You can expect a lot of funky stuff in different genres / styles. Also, I am excited for Futurized’s forthcoming releases in the summer and possible plans for label touring with the artists! Where do you see yourself and your career in 5 years? It’s really hard question haha, honestly because there happened a lot of things in past year, for example, my hearing issue is degenerative, which caused a big loss of hearing last year. I want to live day by day and have fun, with what’s going on now. But the biggest dream is to have a collaboration with Martin Garrix, like combining my funk style with his signature sound. Touring around the world is also on my shortlist. At least and not to forget, I would love to have a family with few kids and a healthy life and be happy and do what I love, day by day and enjoy the life! 4. Three weeks ago, we reported on a tweet from NOISIA announcing a “third and final album.” At the time, we were so excited about the prospect that we failed to notice the day of the tweet: April 1. Based on the trio’s previous revelation of their imminent breakup, and the realization of the day, we were made to believe it was, in fact, an April Fool’s tweet. However, today, that has been proven demonstrably false. NOISIA will release their third and final album, Closer, on May 12. The 20-strong tracklist, 11 new songs and 9 previously released tracks, includes collaborations with some of their closest friends, from Skrillex to Black Sun Empire, and Former to The Upbeats, an international cabal of leading drum & bass and bass music figures from Europe, New Zealand, and North America. Testament to Nik, Martijn, and Thijs’ desire to add to their legacy, Closer is a thrilling snapshot of where the band might have gone were they to continue beyond this summer’s final curtain at Lowlands on August 21, and gives their fans access to some hidden gems that have remained in the band’s vaults until now. Noisia said: “Hello Person. After Outer Edges we were trying to find a new direction for Noisia. This resulted in an extensive journey that took us through a lot of new ideas and music. Although we eventually decided to stop, we are proud of the things we made along the way, and these tunes were always meant to be part of a larger whole. So before we finally close the book on Noisia, we wanted to share them with you, on one last album. Previously released or newly finished, they all represent directions we enjoyed exploring. In the end, we didn’t manage to figure things out. But we did get closer.” Nik will continue working on his solo project, Sleepnet; Thijs wants to focus on scoring for films and games, while also writing club and listening music under his moniker Thys; and Martijn and Jaap de Vries are currently making a move back towards their roots with Zonderling. 5. The San Diego-based producer, Burko, released this powerful two-track EP on April 22 via There Is A Light Records. The EP opens with the track, “Can’t Stay Here.” The 5-minute song is a progressive masterpiece that is destined to swoon listeners into the night with its rhythmic beats and dreamy female vocals. The track is paired with ”Reflection,” a 7-minute hypnotic dance anthem that welcomes listeners with an ethereal melody before gradually building to a higher-energy sound. “I was sent the vocals to “Can’t Stay Here” and immediately heard the song I would end up producing; I took the song that the vocalist had written and took things in a completely different direction.” – Burko Burko has tons of exciting things planned for the rest of 2022, so make sure you follow along and don’t miss out. 6. Popular opinion seems to point toward Madeon’s sets at Coachella both weekends as being among the highlights of the festival. And if you were lucky enough to not have any conflicts during his set (for instance, Moore Kismet on weekend 2, sadly), you were lucky enough to witness his new song “Love You Back” before it released today. As confirmed by Madeon himself on Twitter, “Love You Back” was originally meant to be track #3 on Good Faith, so it’s only natural that its sonic tone feels like a natural continuation of his latest album project. Kicking things off is How3ll, who blends old school along with piano house elements to create what is hopelessly captivating remix. Vedeus follows with a tech house flip that features a gritty bass line, giving it the feeling of something that could go off in a FISHER or Vintage Culture type of set. Dazed rounds out the remix package with a more progressive angle, infusing hypnotic melodies and piano stabs that drive the song wonderfully. “During the second verse of the song, I say the line “Feel the bass down low, I can feel the music high, I know this is weird but I don’t care what you’re doing to me.” This was one of the most important lines for me because it places the listener in the club and allows them to feel the vibe and the tension between the two lovers. – Elae Weekes Listen below! 11. Though the last EDC Las Vegas was only six months ago in October, a rare and one-of-a-kind move after being delayed in 2020 and 2021 due to the global pandemic, we will once again sit under the electric sky next month at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. With the lineup already announced and stage lineups out, Insomniac founder Pasquale Rotella has revealed some more surprising information about this year’s festival — we’re getting yet another new stage. After adding stereoBLOOM and quantumVALLEY to the festival some years ago, we are getting our ninth stage now devoted to all genres of house music: bionicJUNGLE (previously referred to as skyLAB). In addition to kineticFIELD, bassPOD, wasteLAND, cosmicMEADOW, circuitGROUNDS, and neonGARDEN, attendees are sure to find any place to enjoy the music they dream of all weekend long. Rotella says the lineup is coming soon, and the stage will be situated between neonGARDEN and Downtown EDC toward the center of the festival grounds; that means it’ll either be a smaller stage with Pixel Forest, the wedding chapel, and System Square already in the vicinity, or we’ll be seeing another rearrangement of the festival grounds this year. Made a HOUSE call to the jungle to bring you guys a special announcement. Adding our newest stage to @EDC_Lasvegas, #bionicJUNGLE! All genres of House Music being played all night long. Now, he’s back with an absolutely massive ‘PULSE‘ EP, signed to WAKAAN, that is his finest work to date. Loaded with heavy bass, hard-hitting trap, and innovative sound design, PIERCE’s talent shines from start to finish. The title track and “Higher” each carry their own weight, oozing with bass goodness, but “Braindead” tops the EP in our opinion. And that was due to the mistrust that accumulated over time through past heartbreak and bad experiences. Your heart naturally is going to start to build a wall to protect you from feeling that again. This song is about just that, me realizing that it’s happening and feeling this person start to slip away. It’s me putting it out there that I’m aware I have these issues that I need to work through, but if you’ll just believe in me and give me some support and guidance I think we can get through this. 17. A little less than two weeks ago, ILLENIUM teased some sort of collaboration with Batman, the popular franchise from DC Comics, coming out April 22. While we’re still two days away, he surprised fans with his first remix in over 2 years, tackling the iconic “Something In The Way” by Nirvana which saw renewed popularity after “The Batman” was released in theaters. The remix is slower and more akin to wave than a lot of ILLENIUM’s most recent material, making this a truly special collaboration between one of the biggest EDM artists and one of the juggernauts of superhero comics. In addition to the remix, fans can also check out some official Batman x ILLENIUM merchandise available this Friday. The official Batman X ILLENIUM jersey and merchandise will be available for pre-sale this Friday at 10am PT. 18. During Ultra Music Festival in Miami last March we caught up with Canadian producer Caroline Cecil aka Whipped Cream who has kept an avid fanbase ever since her music career began back in 2015 with the release of her “Law of Attraction EP.” We sat down with Whipped Cream just 1 hour before she would takeover the Worldwide stage at Ultra. Hey Caroline, Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with us. How does it feel to be back in Miami playing Ultra? I’m so excited. I dont think Ive ever been so excited for a set. I think the only reason why that is, is that I’ve never been so ready for a show. I have so much new music ready that I got to work on during the lockdown. And as far as your release schedule do you have your albums and singles for the year planned out? Yea, I have one that comes out right after Coachella. And I’ll probably do a project following suit. I recently saw that you were in the studio with up and coming producer Juelz. Are there any up and coming artists that you resonate with sonically that you would like to work on new music with? One producer that I recently just found and he’s been around for a while actually is Corvad. He actually has a record in the new Batman movie and that’s how I found him and all of his music is really killer. I really like this guy Knock2. I really think he’s going to be a big time producer really soon. Obviously I really like Juelz. We have a record coming out together in June or July. Being one of the most prominent female DJs in electronic music. What insight could you lend or what changes do you think could be made to allow more women to enter the space? I think a lot of stuff that happens to me and a lot of other women is unfair because a lot of it goes unspoken about and a lot of us just bite our tongue. And to each their own. If you really believe in yourself and you really believe you’re a hard worker. Just know within yourself that you’re deserving to be here and that your work will speak for itself. Have utter belief in yourself, put your blinders on and nothing else matters. Nothing else matters except what you’re doing. What is the most important piece of knowledge or advice that you have specifically accrued through extensive years of touring in the music industry? When I started I remember walking out of my retail job. I was working a 9-5 and I knew I loved music so much. And I walked out of the retail job knowing I was going to make music. I remember I decided it with such conviction like I already was the big innovative music producer and pioneer of my craft. And I didnt even know how to make music at that time. But I felt it and I knew it. I knew what I wanted to do, which was to do music out of love. Now to fast forward 8 years into the future sitting next to you. I live in Caroline’s truth every single day. That feeling when you already know everything is good it doesn’t matter what the outer world is saying to you. You have to believe in yourself. And I haven’t even scratched the surface. Are there any influences or even non musical influences that played a heavy role into shaping your project today? Definitely early James Blake, Tyler The Creator, A$AP Rocky, Frank Ocean, Danny Brown, Active Child, Obviously Kanye West, Skrillex, DJ Sliink, Swizzymack.I also really like cinema and movies and being out in nature in the greater universe. And just watching people. I’m really weird and I don’t fit in but that’s okay. What advice do you have to up and coming creatives who look up to you, your project, and your music? I think I would tell them to believe in your vision. Have your ears open because there’s a lot of people around you who want to help you. Don’t be stubborn. The quicker you can lose your ego and not be afraid to get dirty and messy the better. Dont give a fuck what anyone else says. Were all souls were all energy. Just be a good person. You’ve got to live through love. If you dont you have to figure it out and do it as quick as possible to move towards love every day of your life. 19. Very few have been able to keep such a dominate heralding presence within electronic music meanwhile undergoing multiple transformations. Few have done it one of them Julian Scanlan aka Slushii who has kept a fervent fanbase as his music career prolongs. Slushii recently dropped a brand new full length album titled E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event) at the beginning of March on Monstercat. We sat down with Slushii just before his set at Ultra in Miami to discuss everything from new music to a potential collaboration with Rosalía and much more. Hey Julian, Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with us. How does it feel to be back in Miami? Its great. I’ve been on this boat 2 -3 times. It’s like going back to highschool again. Just another year. You just released your new album “Extinction Level Event” can you tell us more about the creative process behind putting that album together? E.L.E. was my 2 – 3 year journey of figuring out what I wanted to say through my music and why I wanted to say it. The message was super long at first and then I was figuring out how I can shorten it because attention spans are super short. What made you choose that name? So the ERU is this evil organization that’s in the world of the Slushii album thing. So E.L.E. is the girl on the front cover of the album. She is the one thing that can cause an extinction level event. An extinction level event for the villain. Do you ever envision yourself expanding the world of ELE. 100% I would love to even do a mini project like what’s E.L.E’s favorite pizza spot or what’s E.L.E’s favorite sushi spot. Kind of giving people a look into that world would be really cool. I was skimming through your Instagram I saw Rosalia reached out to you… So this is the first time anyone has ever actually brought this up. So Rosalia if your watching this right now I feel like an idiot. She DM’d me like 5 years ago. 2017 she DM’d me and I’m not a big social media guy. I am, but i’m not. So messages would just get filtered. Her dm got filtered as harmful or spam…… Mark Zuckerberg thank you. The Rosalia collab was probably axed because of that but who knows you never know. I would say Rosalia if you’re watching this te amo. I would love to make something happen. It would be super dope. I legitimately did not see your dm. Your probably not going to see this but thank you for reaching out 5 years ago. Instagram sucks. I see you only follow one person on Twitter – Kanye West. What does Kanye West mean to Slushii? Kanye West is I will say. I see what he’s trying to do and I’m with it. Like what he’s trying to do with the stem player. I see he’s trying to usher in a new era like Steve Jobs did with bringing iTunes, bringing the iPad. Giving the people something that they can physical hold and just does what its supposed to do. It’s so simple. What can fans expect from Slushii for the rest of the year? Are you working on any fun projects inside or outside of music? A lot of music, music videos, crazy sponsorship collabs, a bit of everything, the great part about the last 6 years is that ive been able to carve out a path that is a bit of everything. Videogame stuff, or collabing or doing stuff in Japan. Are there any video game companies that you want to work with? Resident Evil is my favorite video game of all time. Mortal Kobmat would be sick. Dance Dance revolution. I’m a big fan of that. More Fortnite stuff in the works. That is my world and I’m glad the fans listened to the story i’ve been telling What is the most important piece of knowledge or advice that you have specifically accrued through extensive years of touring in the music industry? I would say get more sleep. Name your projects correctly. Please dear lord because I’ve lost so many projects that way and I still haven’t corrected the problem. And live in the moment, enjoy it because just as quickly that moment is gone as soon as it came. So soak that moment in as long as you can. So yea its just living in the moment Does that keep you inspired? I think it’s a bit of a double edged sword because eveythings great until it’s not great and it’s all about how you take it in. Every now and then I’ll spin out of control. But as long as your staying optimistic and have a good group of people around you, you can do anything. Are there any influences or even non musical influences that played a heavy role into shaping your project today? I think Toonami and Cartoon Network. Like anime and a lot of Nickelodeon. A lot of 90s nostalgic good burger and 90s cartoon media definitely had a huge influence on me. Who are your top 3 artists to watch this year? Volt, Mikey Rotten, and Softishard. What advice do you have to up and coming creatives who look up to you, your project, and your music? Keep producing, keep writing and keep moving forward. Whenever you get knocked down, get back up. That concludes our interview. Is there anything else you want to say to your fans that been sticking with you throughout the entirterely of your career I hope your well. Its 2022 let’s do the damn thing. Featured image via: @capturedbyjosh This article was first published on Your EDM. Source: Exclusive: Slushii Talks About Rosalía, His New Album E.L.E, Plus Much More

  23. The Indonesian born artist and producer is one of the most inspiring creators in the electronic scene at the moment. Curating his unique signature style of house, we have the privilege to premiere another amazing track to his portfolio to his catalogue entitled, ‘Funk Accelerator. Expect smooth silky synth, bouncy basslines and heart skipping layers of grooving percussion. Commenting on this production, Bleu states: “For the longest time, I was playing around with the acapella of my song previously released single “Have Me All” and I tried to make a club version of the track out of it. I think dark and more underground vibe of the acapella will really spice up the tracklist of any DJ set. I hope that people will enjoy this one as much as I did creating it. 25. The Glitch Mob’s very own Justin Boreta has been involved in a variety of lauded musical projects – but none more important than his latest work as a member of ambient/psychedelic duo Superposition and co-founder of the label Formless. Superposition and Formless both have the same mission – to create music with the intention of healing. Each project dives deep into spiritual concepts with the hopes of creating a healthy escape from the day-to-day grind. Now for his latest endeavor, Boreta is once again pioneering novel ideas in uncharted territory. He partnered with renowned generative artist Aaron Penne, whose code-based artworks have been auctioned at Sotheby’s and Christie’s, displayed at international galleries and museums, and launched on Art Blocks. Boreta and Aaron Penne’s new joint project – “Rituals” – combines generative music and generative artwork to create immersive, innovative one-of-a-kind NFT’s (Non Fungible Token) made entirely from code. After the original NFT release (aka “minting”) last fall, Boreta and Penne are now announcing the release of -“Rituals”- in standard streaming format. The track listing is carefully constructed, following an arc to echo the original IRL listening experience back in September 2021 as best as possible. The beginning welcomes you into the world of Rituals, as it takes the listener deeper as if slowly dipping underwater, interbeing with deep drone songs on either side, then reemerges facing the bright horizon of infinite possibility. Justin and Aaron shared a vision to explore concepts such as the infinite, mindfulness, and connectivity in a generative project that included not just art, but music as a central element. They partnered with Tero Parviainen from Counterpoint Studio to design the audio system. Using Tero’s code, Justin created music that is capable of creating infinite variations within the constraints provided for that particular token, making each NFT entirely unique. The music and art are crafted to infinitely evolve, giving collectors a subtly new experience upon each viewing. If left running, a single Ritual will continue generating music and art without repeating for ~ 9 million years! Boreta, Aaron and Bright Moments are intent on giving back to organizations they are passionate about. So far, the Rituals project has made charitable donations to the Alan Watts Foundation, Stonewall Alliance Center for LGBTQ+, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women US, and the Surfrider Foundation.
