Drummer / DJ DRMAGDN Releases Electrifying Remix To A Classic Beatles Song, “Something”
DRMAGDN is a Drummer / DJ, Live Electronic Music Performer, Producer & Music Director who’s talent knows no end. He has played The Winter Olympics, Lollapalooza, Warped Tour, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Metlife Stadium, Bamboozle Fest, MTV’s TRL, AOL Sessions, The View, The Today Show and Royal Albert Hall. His resume is nothing short of spectacular and he’s garnered a massive following around his brand. Now, he’s back with a electrifying remix to a classic hit from The Beatles, “Something“. After signing with BMG, DRMAGDN was given the rights to dig into George Harrison’s catalog, and he enlisted Michelle Ray (Team Blake on Season 4 of The Voice) and a cast of other heavy-hitters to help take his re-working of “Something” to new heights. The result is an unforgettable, modern day masterpiece that accomplishes what many remixes/covers don’t – it actually does justice to the original, and then some. “‘Something’ is my favorite Beatles tune of all time. So I jumped at the chance to do a modern remix of the song when BMG acquired George Harrison’s catalog. These musical shoes are literally the biggest in the world to fill, so I had to completely pull out all the stops on this Beatles tribute including nods to the artwork and a truly epic music video.” – DRMAGDN Watch it below! Showtek Drop Catchy New Single “Feeling”
Showtek are back with a sensational new dance floor anthem, “Feeling.” An incredible fusion of old school piano house with modern synths and drop. “Feeling” is an instant classic in Showtek’s discography. The drop is just as memorable as “We Like to Party” or “Booyah” and it also has a more modern aesthetic. “Feeling” also tracks with Showtek’s history of vibrant and uplifting vocals. Above all else, it’s just great to hear Showtek going back to their melodic roots. The track opens up with the emotive house vocal, the piano eventually comes in to perfectly accentuate the vocal. Finally, the payoff comes and we get the big synths leading into a huge buildup. The synths become the drop and the whole song comes together on the first drop. Featuring vocals from longtime Showtek collaborator Sonny Wilson, “Feeling” is sure to go down as a staple in any Showtek set. Check out the latest from Showtek, “Feeling” featuring Sonny Wilson, out now on Skink. This article was first published on Your EDM. Source: Showtek Drop Catchy New Single “Feeling”

Tiësto Drops Incredible New Single “Drifting”
Fresh off the heels of his latest studio album Drive, Tiësto is back with another new single, “Drifting.” While it’s not a full-on return to trance, this breakbeats inspired track should have fans raving as Tiësto definitely explores a more old school sound. The Dutch superstar first dropped the track back at Ultra Miami, and it has since become a staple in his sets. The track opens with a drone like synth that rises in and out laid over the surprisingly affecting vocal. The drone synth serves as the basis for the drop as the aforementioned breakbeats perfectly blend together. If you’ve experienced this one live before, like I did at EDC Las Vegas, you know this one hits. In fact, the official video heavily features footage from Tiësto’s recent EDC performance. Check out the latest from Tiësto, “Drifting”, out now on Musical Freedom. Tiësto will have upcoming summer residencies at Ushuaïa Ibiza and at Zouk and Ayu at Resorts World in Las Vegas. Your EDM Premiere: Hear Levela’s Hotly Anticipated Upcoming Banger, ‘Bang Bang 2023’ featuring LaMeduza [RAM]
RAM and Levela resurrect the classic track from the 60s to prove cool never goes out of style. The 1966 song “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) written by Sonny Bono and sung by Cher, then covered by Nancy Sinatra (also in ’66), is so well-recognized in modern music lore that it’s safe to say it’s an institution. Aside from the most recognizable version by Sinatra, the song has been covered or remixed by so many musicians over the years that they’re impossible to list and take up a full five pages on WhoSampled.com. Among the most notable are Cher herself (with Jon Bon Jovi and Michael Bolton in 1987), Lady Gaga, The Raconteurs, Vanilla Fudge and Nancy’s only slightly more famous husband, Frank Sinatra. Now Levela and vocalist LeMeduza have joined the illustrious ranks of those who have remade this legendary track, and the long-overdue D&B version of “Bang Bang” is set to drop this Friday, June 28th. The drum & bass rework of “Bang Bang,” as one would expect, is easily the most different in both style and substance from the original as it can get. With the Sonny and Cher version being largely folk-based and the Nancy Sinatra version being what we’d now call junkyard country, there’s not much in D&B that would match either of those genres. That said, Levela has taken a significant sample from Bono’s original and woven it through the track. It’s the haunting guitar riff created nearly 60 years ago that has made this track such an institution and the way Levela uses it not just as a sample but as a guide for the key and ambient tone of the track makes it just as visceral and ominous as the original. Amidst all the amens, switchbacks and heavy, sine wavey sub bass synths, the vibe of the original song isn’t lost and it’s almost got a post punk flavor to it. Speaking of being true to the original, LaMeduza’s vocals are what really tie this track together and capture the mood of this legendary song so well. Not only does she manage to capture the tone and timbre of Nancy Sinatra’s popular version, she may have actually surpassed it. We’re not just talking about quality of equipment or production here, either: LaMeduza’s vocal skill and attention to the drama of the track has an authenticity that really is unmatched. Levela must have known it was special as well, as he gives ample space in the track for the full vocals, doing very few cuts or fragment mixing of the vox unless it was to echo it through the vox-less parts. The partnership between Levela and LaMeduza on “Bang Bang” makes for a superb collab on top of a surprisingly danceable resurrection of this more than half century-old tune. It’s likely neither Sonny and Cher nor Nancy Sinatra (nor really anyone, for that matter) could have ever pictured ravers doing finger guns to this particular “banger,” but now that you think about it, it’s actually perfect for a D&B tune. It just needed a master producer like Levela and a pitch-perfect vocalist like LaMeduza to do it justice. Cool is cool no matter that the time period of age, and “Bang Bang 2023” proves it. “Bang Bang” 2023 drops Friday, June 30 on RAM Recordings. Click here to pre-order or pre-save. Strength in numbers has always been important in my life. Anyone who knows me knows my motto: ‘I just want to do cool sh*t with cool people.’ The feeling of sharing a journey together with people you love is unlike anything else. Building something TOGETHER. I have always been an extremely shy person from a very young age, and even up to now. It was something that stood in my way, but I am able to overcome it with the feeling of love and support from the people around me. I don’t do any of this by myself. I have a small circle of close friends around me who support me, and I support them. I love to give back to the next generation of DJs. Someone paved the way for us, and we’re paving the way for someone else. I think it’s important to teach them to support the ones after them. Being a musical artist isn’t about me, it’s about building a musical family and making everyone around us know that they are a part of something together.” AC Slater will also be hitting the road next month in support of the album. MAKJ has just made his debut on Tchami’s Confession label with his latest single “Burning Rave”, and it’s an absolute banger. “Burning Rave” sees MAKJ takes his production into a much more vibey house territory, and we’re all for it. The California producer has come a long way since the days of “Party Till We Die” and “Let’s Get F*cked Up”, (all-time classics, by the way). “Burning Rave” opens up with a tropical drum beat accompanied by a rumbling bassline. It features a wonderful blend of tech house elements, some old school acid sounds, and pretty much a full-on techno drop. It’s completely unexpected from MAKJ, but there’s still something unique about the track that shines through in all of his productions. “I’m excited to begin my journey with Confession as I move into a new dynamic club sound, while keeping the notable MAKJ flare alive.” – MAKJ This article was first published on Your EDM. Vulture Theory, HAWD HITTA, & NoBueno Team Up For Sizzling Single, “Synthetic Sands” + Interview
Vulture Theory, is an underground house artist who has made a distinct mark within the scene, logging performances at Catch One, Madame Siam, and Canary and signing tracks to G Mafia, Story Time and speed house movement. Graduating from Icon Collective, he has mastered the art of blending tech house and experimental elements, creating a unique sonic experience that transports listeners to a realm of hypnotic rhythms. It’s impossible not to feel the energy coursing through your veins the instant you press play, as these three artists flex their talent in the studio through rumbling bass grooves, fiery synth work, and even a whopping half time flip at the end. We had the privilege to chat with them about this single along with what’s ahead for this year. Enjoy the interview below! Can you tell us about the inspiration behind your collaboration on “Synthetic Sands”? HAWD HITTA: It all started when Vulture Theory kicked it over to myself and opened it up to creativity. From there I found myself in NoBueno’s studio and then built it out to bring about a transitional half-time section to the second build up and second drop. It worked out really well and I’m grateful to have been part of this track with this group.” How did the three of you come together to create this track? Vulture Theory: We’ve had a few studio sessions before where we had collaborated on stuff that just hasn’t come out of the vault of music that we have. But this one definitely had potential early on. We appreciate all the hard work involved from everyone in the process.” What unique elements did each artist bring to the table during the production process? NoBueno: “It was Vulture Theory that had the original synths and bassline down. HAWD HITTA had come up with some of the arrangement and a few other sound design elements that are noticeable in the second drop. I myself came up with the half-time that works and feels great in this type of energetic record.” “Synthetic Sands” is described as a mainstage house banger. What makes it stand out from other tracks in the genre? HAWD HITTA: “I feel that it’s memorable and unique like that of a Knock2 – dashstar type of cutting edge sound design, or just any festival track that has a build up and drop in SYNTHETIC SANDS (in reference to the 2nd half).” How do you envision this song being received by festival audiences? Vulture Theory: “I think that it’s got great potential in mashup’s or even any late set, where you can stand on the stage and get the crowd excited. It’s got a lot of energy sitting at such a high BPM. We expect our audience to really enjoy it at ACADEMY when HAWD HITTA performs.” Can you share any behind-the-scenes stories or memorable moments while working on “Synthetic Sands”? HAWD HITTA: “I remember being on FT with Vulture Theory when we first got the project and we went ahead that same day moments later into NoBueno’s studio. It was a great day and I felt like there is a lot to be said about this collab.” This article was first published on Your EDM. Charting New Music Territory: A PermanentShadow’s New Single Hits the Airwaves
There is a special kind of magic in songs that spring from the most unexpected sources. For artists, sometimes the best creations are those originally intended for a different purpose. These unplanned treasures often possess an authentic essence that resonates with listeners. CP Fletcher of A Permanent Shadow has penned a song that is an example of this concept. Through the winding journey of life and emotions, Fletcher discovered and honed an extraordinary piece: “A Xmas Gift in May.” Initially conceived as a private gift, this song eventually became a heartfelt expression of romance. The song’s backstory is intriguing; Fletcher composed the track in 2021, initially titled “Black Lolita.” It was dedicated to a fleeting and tumultuous romance. As Fletcher revisited the song, the potency of the emotions captured within it was undeniable. He decided to share this piece, hoping that the audience would connect with the genuine sentiments embodied in the song. “A Xmas Gift in May” stands out due to its blend of classic and contemporary elements. The track alludes to 60s pop, particularly reminiscent of tracks like “All You Need Is Love,” but executed with modern production techniques. The rhythmic backbone of the song is consistent, and the instrumentation effectively complements the emotional fabric of the lyrics. There’s an interesting twist to the release. Fletcher teamed up with Valen Nieto, a seasoned collaborator, to produce a remix of the song. The remix takes a retro turn, borrowing from 80s Italo Disco. It’s a throwback, and yet, it feels fresh. Along with the original and the remix, an intimate version with just piano and lead vocals is part of the release. This stripped-down rendition allows the listener to delve into the raw emotion that Fletcher initially set out to capture. However, fans should not expect this single to be a part of A Permanent Shadow’s upcoming album, No Leaf Clover. The album takes a divergent thematic direction. While “A Xmas Gift in May” is rich in romance, the LP is set to explore darker, more somber themes. Consequently, the single is being released independently. No Leaf Clover will be A Permanent Shadow’s third album, following Songs of Loss (2019) and Humdrum (2022). Fletcher is the constant driving force behind the project, with support from the multi-instrumentalist Nieto and keyboardist Albert Català. There’s more in store from A Permanent Shadow. The ensemble is diligently working on an EP that consists exclusively of cover songs, showcasing their ability to reinterpret and breathe new life into existing works. They are also engaged in brainstorming sessions for their fourth album. The current focal point, however, is undoubtedly the new single, which is expected to create its fair share of noise while fully engaging listeners. “A Xmas Gift in May” is an honest and emotionally rich single. It has the duality of a classic and contemporary sound, and its genesis from a personal emotional space adds a layer of authenticity. It’s always intriguing when artists share something deeply personal – even if that’s not at all what they originally intended. Fortunately, with therelease of “A Xmas Gift in May,” CP Fletcher has let the rest of us in on his sweet and soulful secret. This article was first published on Your EDM. Maero’s Showcases Production Versatilty in New World Order (Episode 1)
Fusing his classical formation with a bold exploration of electronic textures, Maero composes avant-garde, genre-blurring journeys that transport listeners to the depths of his imaginary sun verse. From uplifting orchestral anthems to glitchy, dystopian odysseys, each piece is distinctly unique yet all are unmistakably Maero. Dramatic, immersive, and ever-evolving, Maero’s creations melt the real world away – for those willing to take the ride. Beyond music, Maero creates immersive worlds. His debut album Awakening is brought to life in a 12-episode animated visual album depicting a mythical hero’s journey in an original, fictional universe. From New World Order’s dystopian battle to Ghost’s plea to God and Fantasia’s discovery of love, Awakening stands as a symbol of Maero’s universe – a new kind of experience, a world never seen before “When writing music, I’ve always felt I’m discovering stories happening in imaginary worlds and bringing them to life. For my debut, I wanted to paint a genesis story, a disruptive arrival into an existing world. It became clear that New World Order, with its tenseful intro and dark, beat-driven energy, would be the perfect symbol for that statement. As I contemplated the release, I realized I could not tell these stories fully without bringing them to life with visual, cinematic experiences. And so with New World Order as its first episode, the Awakening visual saga was born.” This article was first published on Your EDM. Bishu & Nevve Team Up For Sun Soaked House Single “No Rush”
If you’ve ever watched Twitch, you have almost certainly heard of Bishu, one of the top 0.1% most-watched and highest-earning musicians on the multi-billion-dollar livestreaming platform. Having started down the path of a more traditional music career as a touring musician releasing on labels such as Mad Decent, Monstercat, and Dim Mak, Drew quickly realized his passion was for creating music and content and less so for running through airports and sleeping in motels on the road. He decided to take a bold step and forgo his touring career to instead focus on streaming live on Twitch and uploading videos to YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and other digital platforms. With recurring shows such as Fake Genres and Bishbattles, sponsorships from top tier brands in the music software and gaming industries, and a rapidly growing presence across all major digital media platforms driven by a combination of consistent content distribution and regular viral moments, Bishu is pioneering a new business model for the independent artist that promotes an artist’s physical and mental health, financial security, and career stability, all without having to leave his front door. Now, he’s back with a sun soaked single “No Rush”, teaming up with iconic vocal collective Nevve. The song feels like a summer anthem through and through, with glistening melodies and a uplifting arrangement sure to move your feet and spread a smile across your face. “I started this song with a completely different vocal, I was stoked on the production and really wanted it to see the light of day. However, something happened with that vocal (it was already taken or used), so the song was pretty much dead in the water. Until I received the Nevve vocal. I pitched it up a little bit and it somehow just worked. Pumped to have this out!” – Bishu Listen below! This article was first published on Your EDM. Martron Releases Hyperpop Infused Trap Single “True Colors”
Martron grew up a classically trained musician, it wasn’t until early in his senior year of high school that he discovered his fondness for electronic music. Martron creates an eclectic yet balanced blend in his music that combines his charming classical roots with his energetic electronic sound. The industry and artists alike are taking notice, with Martron recently being recruited to perform guest mixes for Lizzy Jane’s “XO Radio” mix series as well as Niiko X SWAE’s “NXS Radio” mix series on prestigious Insomniac Radio. Now, he’s back with a hyperpop infused trap single “True Colors” thats an explosion of colorful melodies and thunderous bass. He masterfully weaves a heavily autotuned vocals alongside ricocheting synths to build into what is an electrifying drop sure to take your energy to a 10. It may have taken 5 years to finish but man do I love this song! The energy, the vibe, the blend of lighter and darker elements, this is the quintessential Martron track. “True Colors” is about finding and weeding out the toxic people in my life that chose to take me for granted or stab me in the back instead of having it. It’s also about putting energy into the people that care about me and who’ve stood in my corner when they could’ve easily walked away. If this song could say one thing I hope it’s this: Lean into the people who love you and don’t let people take advantage of you. You’re worth more than you know.” – Martron Listen below! Your EDM Premiere: Exept are Back and they Didn’t Miss a Beat With New Crossover Jam
Okay so it’s not entirely accurate to say the Rome based duo known as Exept are just returning with their first full-length album Black Soul, due out this Friday, June 26 on Delta9 Recordings. On top of the album teaser tracks “Icebreaker” and “Nightbreath” that D9 released in the last month, Exept have also featured on a number of collabs on the imprint as well as a brand new single on Blackout’s Adaptations Gen. II compilation EP with their fast and fizzy track, “Crystal Hammer.” So, they’ve been back after a nearly two year break since June 2022, but Black Soul will be the first time in a while we’ve all been slapped with a hefty dose of Exept. For those who don’t recall, Exept debuted as a duo on Noisia’s Invisible label in 2018, so they really hit the ground running and didn’t stop with subsequent releases, dropping bombs on Pseudoscience, Vision proper, Dispatch and Surveillance Records before COVID hit. The pandemic hit especially hard in Italy so it’s not surprising that the Exept boys may have had more pressing matters on their hands, but now they’re picking up where they left off with their unique brand of neuro and on an epic LP full of innovative twists and turns, no less. Fans who’ve listened to “Icebreaker” and “Nightbreath” will already know that Black Soul is more than cookie-cutter neurofunk. “Icebreaker” is spliced with 174 techno but punters may not clock it because it’s blended in with hurricane synths, jazzy hi-hats and deep bass sine waves. “Nightbreath” starts off with a conventional D&B beat but after an ambient break it goes 140 in the weirdest way before plonking back into 174 seemingly out of nowhere and then toggling between minimal dubstep, more 174 straight beats and D&B. If you were wondering if Exept had lost their edge in the last two years, the answer is clearly a resounding “no”. If anything, they’re edgier than ever. Black Soul has a rich narrative as an album on top of the dancefloor slappers contained in each track. The opening track is a lush, ambient, beatless track that sounds like the intro credits to a video game that then drops seamlessly into the title track. The closing track is also called “Black Soul” and is similarly beatless and classically inspired, intended to put a period on the end of the album’s sentence. In between, there’s loads of genre jumping, like the dub-tempoed “Discordia” and the proper halftime “Nero” as well as loads of glitchy, itchy drum & bass like “Not for You” with Disprove, “Missin Online” with Slwdwn and the first title track. If Exept established their style between 2018 and 2020, in this new era it appears they’re planning to take it in every possible direction, if Black Soul is anything to go by. Our YEDM premiere and, fortuitously, the last teaser before Black Soul drops, is for the whiplash-inducing penultimate track on the album, “Don’t Trust Me.” With a celestial intro that quickly descends into multi-beat chaos, this track is a highlight amongst highlights on this album. Similar to “Nightbreath” in that it contains multiple beat structures, “Don’t Trust Me” is even more maniacal because it morphs from its fast techno into breakbeat and then glitch-neuro so seamlessly with the use of cyclonic snares and switchbacks that listeners will genuinely wonder how they got to the middle of the track from the beginning. A sonic epic journey contained in three minutes and 29 seconds, “Don’t Trust Me” is a full thesis answer to the question, “what happens when D&B producers decide to treat techno like D&B?” Though they’re likely enjoying another little break after the hard graft of making Black Soul, it’s clear the Exept boys are ready to prove that their legacy isn’t solely those first two years after Noisia got a hold of them. There’s much more to come from the breakout Italian artists, and in the meantime we can all revel in – and figure how to mix out of – the tracks and musical journey that is Black Soul. Black Soul drops Friday, June 24 on Delta9 Recordings. Pre-order on Bandcamp or Beatport. This article was first published on Your EDM.
