Multi-platinum Sydney-born LA-based producer, Hayden James teams up with Canadian duo Bob Moses to share their new single, “Do You Want Me” out via Future Classic. “Do You Want Me” features a classic vocal from Bob Moses, as warm synths muted down to perfection swirl all around. An ever-present driving bassline builds the track to emotional and euphoric heights as a signature footprint from Hayden James. Ahead of an American summer of festivals and headline shows alike for both Hayden James & Bob Moses, “Do You Want Me” invites you to achieve a state of bliss with those you want near and dear. Hayden James on “Do You Want Me”, says: “I’ve spent most of the year writing in the studio and I’m so excited to finally share my first release of the year with you all. Tom, Jimmy (Bob Moses) and I got together just a handful of times to write ‘Do You Want Me’. This record came together so quickly. We instantly had a vibe together and just had fun in the studio. The song feels like a great representation of both of us. It’s definitely a dream collab for me. I hope you love it.” Bob Moses on “Do You Want Me”, says: “We’ve known Hayden for a bit, and of course have been aware of his work since well before he gave us his killer mix of our track “Back Down” (which we still play all the time btw). We had thought about working together before but somehow never got around to it. But just like that, the window opened and this track quickly came to life out of a few sessions in LA. Hayden is a lovely guy, and we had fun with the process. Hope ya enjoy.” The arrival of “Do You Want Me” is Hayden James’ first for new music in 2023, and follows the release of last year’s album LIFTED. Hayden James previously added his re-work to Bob Moses’ track “Back Down” and now both artists gear up to celebrate their latest single with combined shows in Vancouver and New York next month, having recently road-tested the single at Michigan’s Electric Forest festival a few weekends go. Hayden will next appear at a string of US festivals including California’s Hard Summer, before returning to Australia for the national touring festival, Grapevine Gathering in October. Since breaking out in 2013 with “Permission to Love” and going on to release revered platinum certified hits “Numb” feat. GRAACE, and “Just Friends”, the producer has continued to be at the forefront of the Australian house music scene, carrying on his run of hits with his ARIA-nominated debut album Between Us in 2019, and 2022’s sophomore record LIFTED, which boasts over half a billion streams and was debuted at last year’s Coachella to a packed out stage, before he launched into a North American tour. He then toured across Europe, before landing back in Australia to play his largest headline shows here to date, gracing iconic venues such as Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena, and Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall. His production mastery on tracks like “Waves of Gold” feat. Azteck as well as “Right Time” with Icona Pop has also landed in the international spotlight, receiving love from Zane Lowe on Beats 1, triple j, as well as Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, NME and many more. Today, two of dance music’s favourite acts in Hayden James and Bob Moses unite on “Do You Want Me”, sure to be one of this summer’s hottest house tracks. Elgin Soars to Top 100 of Pop Charts with “Imagine That”
Elgin, the breathtaking talent from LA, has achieved a milestone that many aspiring and major artists dream of: charting on the top 100 of the Pop Charts. With his latest release, “Imagine That,” Elgin showcases his exceptional vocal talent and production skills, landing him on the charts in between The Weeknd and Dua Lipa. “Imagine That” is a vibrant and infectious track that seamlessly blends elements of house music with a catchy pop melody. From the first beat, the song envelops listeners in a wave of positivity and uplifts their spirits. Elgin’s goal with this release was to create a musical escape, providing a respite from everyday challenges and bringing joy to his audience. What makes “Imagine That” really special is that it stems from Elgin’s own spiritual awakening. The song reflects his deep interest in manifestation and the power of the mind and spirit. It serves as a reminder that by opening ourselves to positive vibes and aligning with the universe, we can bring our dreams to life. Working alongside producer Vrdnyn, a rising talent from the New York City area, Elgin found the perfect collaborator to bring his vision to fruition. Vrdnyn’s infectious beats and innovative production techniques complement Elgin’s vocals, resulting in a track that is both fresh and nostalgic. The duo’s chemistry shines through, and their collaboration is a testament to the magic that can happen when like-minded artists come together. Notably, Elgin enlisted the expertise of multi-platinum engineer Thomas Warren for this release. Warren’s impressive credentials, having worked with renowned artists such as Sam Smith, Katy Perry, and Charli XCX, added an extra layer of refinement to the production, elevating the overall sound quality of “Imagine That.” “Imagine That” stands out in Elgin’s discography as a deeply personal and spiritually driven track. It speaks to his current journey of self-discovery and growth, resonating with listeners on a profound level. Through the power of his music, Elgin encourages everyone to believe in their dreams, regardless of their chosen spiritual or religious path. Vandelor Drops Beautiful Two Track EP ‘Rechka & Siren’ via Where The Heart Is Records
Since his arrival on the scene in 2020, Vandelor has meticulously carved a niche in the global music industry with celebrated releases on renowned labels such as All Day I Dream, Ruvenzori, and Souksonic. Now, he’s back with a beautiful two track EP titled ‘Rechka & Siren’ signed to none other than David Hohme’s Where The Heart Is records. It’s a fusion of melodic and organic house at its finest. “Rechka“, a collaboration with Gaba, offers ethereal melodies backed by a thumping beat and heartwarming piano arrangement. “Sirin” offers a euphoric yet tranquil journey into the deeper soundscapes of house, as Vandelor and Schmidt masterfully weave ambient vocal chants within soft and delicate synth chords. We had the opportunity to chat with Vandelor about the EP and what’s ahead for 2023. Enjoy! You collaborated with two fellow producers on this EP. How did you meet each of them and what did you learn about producing while working with them? They reached out to me with “ Musical Interest projects “ to discuss. Since then we’ve been in touch discussing projects with similar goals. And I learned sometimes it is better to work on a team and share ideas. What emotional message were you trying to convey in this release? What do you want the listeners to take away from the music? I was trying to convey happiness, the joyful feeling of being complete with myself and the Universe. All iIcan hope is the listeners takeaway those same feelings of joy when they hear this piece and want to share the feeling and music with their friends and communities. Which qualities in a label do you prioritize? What about David Hohme’s Where The Heart Is Records made you know they were going to be a good home for this release? I’m always going to want to release music on the labels where I feel my music fits. Alluring art by labels can sometime have the power to evoke emotion which appeals to my creative side. I enjoy working with labels that are passionate about their art representing the releases. First time I sent music to David Hohme’s label was in 2021 and i’ve been following the label since then. They didn’t accept my music at that time. But hey! Here I am releasing a full EP two years later. Love the label name, artworks and catalogue. Why do you produce music? What do you love most about the creative process? Well, making music is very therapeutic for my soul and hope that my tracks reach and inspire others. What is next for you and your artist project? Any other cool updates or gigs in the pipeline? I have some upcoming remixes in different labels, there is also a big collab on the way with somebody closely affiliated with WTHI (but that’s all I can say for right now). I’m still trying to find home for some other original tracks too. As a DJ, I started to get some local dates this year here in Perú. I’m trying to push an almost non-existent electronic scene and audience since it is a lesser known genre here. This article was first published on Your EDM. New Classic: Les Techno Channels Bowie, Love & Rockets in ‘Does It Make You Feel Good’
Anyone who’s a fan of Bauhaus, their follow-up project Love & Rockets, David Bowie, Iggy Pop or, more recently, Edwyn Collins should know the reclusive yet well-respected post punk artist known as Les Techno. Lauded for years in the New York music scene for his witty, satirical lyrics and smooth guitar work that rivals the great Robert Fripp, Techno also loves working with synths and production, making his work popular not only in the post punk world but in the increasingly less niche EDM/experimental electronica crossover world. His newest single, “Make You Feel Good” is perfect example of why Les Techno is so respected, and it also happens to be a chill, low key, lofi bop. If his discography is anything to go by, it’s actually been a minute since Les Techno released one of his tongue-in-cheek, punky tracks. The last one, “The Modern Twist,” released in late 2021 and was more rock forward, with a sort of rockabilly kick to Techno’s guitar work that made it extremely catchy, although not quite enough electronica for YEDM. Sometimes Les Techno’s stuff has more techno, sometimes it has less (cue trombone going “wah wah”), but it’s always fun and interesting, both in style and in substance. Techno can vacillate from 80s-style, synth-driven work like late-era Chris Rea to junkyard country a’la Tom Waits within the same song whilst showcasing his gift for ambient, oftentimes shoegazey guitar work. The style points are certainly there with Les Techno, but he’s also known for his biting wit within his lyrics. His post-apocalyptic, sometimes desolate music is meant to compliment and drive home the point of each song, so even if you’re not listening to the vocals, the music will give audiences the eerie tone of dystopia, whether they’re looking for it or not. Often full of social commentary and warnings about what our actions now may cost us in the future. “Make You Feel Good” starts out with a classic Waits-esque story of boy meets girl but quickly turns into a comment on the American dream and the unexamined life; the title and lyric pose a question about whether the house, car and 2.5 kids is what most people actually want or if it’s just an antiquated marketing gimmick. As society is rapidly changing and people are questioning their lifestyle choices more and more, it seems like a good message to release right now. With no judgement and some gorgeous, pre-wall of sound guitar work a’la Bowie’s Heroes era, Techno gives listeners the option to decide how this track – and their dreams for the future – make them feel. After recording tracks with the likes of Run DMC and Mob Deep, Les Techno’s solo work seems to be less about what others’ dreams are and more about the type of music he wants to release. It stands to reason that he would release tracks that encourage others to make sure they’re not following someone else’s path. The fact that he’s able to do it in cool, dreamy, lofi swathes of music allows for even more contemplation. Here’s hoping “Make You Feel Good” makes its listeners feel good in looking forward to more new tracks from this post punk prodigy. “Make You Feel Good” is out now and can be streamed on Spotify. New Artist Spotlight: Paul Supreme’s ‘Ninja Sword’ Slices Through Conventional EDM
Paul Supreme is a somewhat avant garde house, pop and hip hop artist who began releasing in 2020 with his first album, Golden Hour. His first releases in 2020 and 2021 were more conventional pop/EDM crossover, but recently it’s been his more indie-infused tracks that have been well-received on Spotify. Possibly surprising to some fans of traditional EDM, the addition of more raw, rock-inspired vocals seem to have made all the difference. His newest single, “Ninja Sword” released in early June, is already up to nearly 65,000 streams and climbing while his most popular track, “In a Robe” is about to reach 300k. What helped the rising star gain such notoriety quickly? It seems the key ingredient is authenticity. Supreme began his own musical journey fronting experimental trip hop groups. He also had some pretty heavy influence growing up as the son of the late Dennis Flemion, a founding member of the infamous 90s alt rock, The Frogs. The Frogs were deep in the 80s and 90s grunge scene which means a young Paul Supreme grew up around the likes of Nirvana, Beck, The Breeders and Smashing Pumpkins, with whom Dennis Flemion toured after the passing of the band’s keyboard player, Johnathon Melvoin, after he passed. It’s clear The Frogs had a lasting influence on Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, because Flemion and Corgan had a very similar vocal style. A style which, is seems, has now been utilized with great success by Paul Supreme. Within EDM, vocal styles tend to focus on tight control of the vox, both in singing technique and in in production. Even in the rougher areas of bass music like drum & bass and dubstep, the vocals are, while capable of being very emotive, are also highly stylized. With his recent releases like the “Ninja Sword” single and the extremely popular “In a Robe,” Supreme’s vocals are unhinged, raw, and decidedly devoid of loads of engineering. Just like in the grunge and indie bands of his father’s era, this lack of styling creates an extra, dissonant layer to the work, made even more palpable by the very stylized production. Supreme’s newest track, “First Team All G,” which just dropped this week on July 3, reminds fans that he’s also a skilled rapper. With the same intense, Corgan-like vocal timbre, Supreme winds his way through the trap/house combo production with a mix of grime-style melodic rap and traditional singing, “First Team All G” shows that Paul Supreme is still playing with style. From all his releases and such a diverse pool of style and influence from which to pull, it seems as though Supreme will never run out of ideas for new tracks and new ways to make EDM and pop interesting and different. In the meantime, his unconventional pairing of indie-style vocals and well-produced electronica is clearly working for him. “Ninja Sword” and “First Team All G” are both available along with the rest of Paul Supreme’s discography on Spotify. New Artist Spotlight: Summer Houses Named their Latest Release ‘Frantic Hearts’ for a Reason
We all probably know by now, due to Portland’s well-advertised slogan “stay weird,” that any punk band from the indie crochet and vegan stripclub Mecca isn’t going to just be straight up and down punk. In fact, in their debut album Frantic Hearts, experimento-punk group Summer Houses have more in common compositionally and sound-wise with The Doors and Zappa than anything a fan outside of PDX would classify as punk. But is it the band that’s wrong, or the definition? With a mean-spirited electronic organ a main feature of their sound and the dollop of electronica we needed to justify this article on YEDM, Portland native Summer Houses have the built-in chaos, screaming lyrics and psychobilly guitar vibes and utter lack of attention to key that’s typified punk since its inception. Originally an experimental sound before it was co-opted by the more popular likes of The Sex Pistols and The Clash, punk’s definitive sound never really was definitive. In the 70s and early 80s, there was still a lot of overlap with classic rock and punk took a lot of influence from bands like Frank Zappa, Sabbath, Golden Earring and Iron Butterfly. Punk split off into more stylized, almost unrecognizable genres like new wave and goth/emo and made its way into pop culture in the late 80s while other factions took it to weirder, more marginalized areas like psychobilly and whatever it was Fugazi and Bad Brains were doing. In the 90s, grunge emerged and almost over took the whole genre. Thanks to bands like Social Distortion, Black Flag and The Descendents, among other pop punk outfits who shall not be mentioned here, there was always a core of “punk punk” that has come to be the stereotypical sound most music fans associate with punk, but rest assured: nothing about punk was ever meant to be stereotypical. With that somewhat bitter, GenX-tinged history lesson, at the corner of “not stereotypical” and punk culture is where we find Summer Houses. Known for their wild performances playing almost exclusively house parties and recording nothing of their work in the first years of their band-dom, one could be forgiven if one thought the band’s releases thus far is nothing more than improvisational jam sessions committed to record. Scratch beneath the surface a bit, however, and it’s clear that the works put together both for their previous EPs and for Frantic Hearts are well-designed, multi-layered and far more musically complex than your average two-chord punk song. With super-cool album art by Sofia Champan that matches the title and vibe of the album, Frantic Hearts opens with a classic grunge riff, which is a fixture to this album. It’s clear that on top of all their 70s and 80s influences, Summer Houses has a strong connection with the punk of the 90s. Fans of grunge will catch whiffs of early Smashing Pumpkins and Alice in Chains. “Winners Circle,” in fact, seems to be a semi-ironic, sadder (if such a thing is possible) take on Local H’s “Bound to the Floor.” The base guitar is just a jumping off point, however. There’s also a good college radio vein running through the music a’la The Dead Milkmen, The Pixies or King Missile. Seeing as these bands also took their influence largely from Zappa, it stands to reason. This faction mostly shows up in the band’s propensity to move from lighter, sort of nerdy punk to heavy, Sabbath-inspired plummets in tone in tracks like “Television,” “Frantic Start” and “Wartime.” The influences one can hear are endless in this album but the point is how it was all put together. With so many different styles and sounds an instruments put together at once and the meandering, existential vocals paired with the sort of disembodied keyboards make for a chaotic, almost surreal experience. There’s so much to listen to, so many transitions and so much attention to noise and dissonance that it’s not worth it to pick apart all the styles, especially if one is at one of Summer Houses’ raucous shows. That said, it’s important to note that this is definitely not your boiler plate punk, and in fact the tracks on Frantic Minds were likely carefully crafted for the effect they create. These punks have created something that may sound musically frantic but has the heart of something true, full and genuinely artistic. If you don’t think that’s punk, it might be time to update your definition. Frantic Hearts is out now and can be purchased on Bandcamp or streamed on Spotify. Fakear releases new up-tempo cut ‘Healing’, announces tour dates
Image via publicist Acclaimed French DJ / producer Fakear is pleased to announce a brand new release with the arrival of ‘Healing’, out this summer through Nowadays Records and will be accompanied by a series of European tour dates throughout the summer and beyond. No stranger to the scene, Fakear continues his musical evolution with a fine concoction of emotive, quirky, globally tuned electronic music designed for massive crossover appeal. He says “Healing, it speaks for itself. This track feels like therapy, an encouragement to dance and let go. I have never worked as much as for this album and this tour. And it feels amazing to be enjoying the fruits of this labour.” A good craftsman spends his time honing his craft. He refines his technique, year after year. An artist, on the other hand, has to get emotionally involved – and that can sometimes get dizzying. It takes a lot of courage to show your inner thoughts and your flaws. Especially with the previous feeling of exhilaration of a fast rise to musical fame with a sold-out concert at the Olympia in Paris even before having released his first album (later becoming a gold record) and tours all over the world in front of thousands of people, like the Red Rocks festival in the USA. Fakear needed to reinvent himself. To return to the essence of his project, with spontaneity and above all, honesty. Ten years after his first steps in the industry, Fakear now returns to his roots, without looking to the past with nostalgia or contempt; but rather by contemplating his past self with kindness. And this new wave got expressed in one word : Talisman, his last album that came out in February 2023. With the tracks Moonlight Moves, Altar, Voyager and Odyssea (featuring the environmental activist Camille Etienne). Alongside a sold out French and European tour, a show at Le Trianon in Paris also sold out, and soon one in salle Pleyel (in February 2024). “It was a complete rebirth. I had lost this crazy energy I once had doing all this.” But such a comeback doesn’t just completely stop after only one album – even though it was particularly noteworthy to the media and the audience. And neither does the inspiration for Fakear. “There is something magical happening when we get so confident. We allow ourselves to have fun, we think less, we feel the love from the audience. And the most beautiful thing is I believe this totally impacts the creation process.” This is how the new songs were born. Like the following of this rebirth and this new inspiration for Théo. Like an extension of Talisman: a new dimension, a parallel universe. “As I was gradually reconnecting with the outside world, I was realising how essential to me it was, and how much I had missed it. My new songs are full of this feeling. I love making music so that it can be shared, lived, vibed and danced to. Talisman was me returning to my roots. The new songs are a window to the future.” Live: 21/06/2023 – Fête de la musique – Berlin (Allemagne) 24/06/2023 – SOS Méditerrannée – Marseille 02/07/2023 – MTELUS – Montréal (Canada) 06/07/2023 – Musilac – Aix Les Bains 07/07/2023 – Décibules – Neuve L’Eglise 13/07/2023 – Green Festival – Avignon 28/07/2023 – Festival de la Paille – Metabief 10/08/2023 – Numerik Games Festival – Yverdon Les Bains (Suisse) 12/08/2023 – Ecume Festival – St Pierre-De-Quiberon 25/08/2023 – Numerik Games Festival – Yverdon Les Bains (Suisse) 02/09/2023 – Rêves à Son – La Pommeaye 08/09/2023 – Palm Fest – La Palmyre 16/09/2023 – Big Mama Fest, La Felicita – Paris 28/09/2023 – L’autre Canal – Nancy 29/09/2023 – Noumatrouff – Mulhouse 30/09/2023 – La Belle Electrique – Grenoble 06/10/2023 – L’Oasis – Le Mans 07/10/2023 – Le Fil – Saint Etienne 12/10/2023 – Omega – Toulon 13/10/2023 – 6Mic – Aix En Provence 14/10/2023 – Emb – Sannois 15/10/2023 – File 7 – Magny Le Hongre 20/10/2023 – West Rock – Cognac 21/10/2023 – Quai M – Roche Sur Yon 27/10/2023 – La Carène – Brest 02/02/2024 – Salle Pleyel – Paris Follow Fakear: Instagram

Ámaris Wen’s Synth-Pop Odyssey: ‘Love andOceans’ Sets Sail into Emotional Depths
In the pulsating heart of the contemporary music scene, it’s a rarity to unearth a sound that is simultaneously euphonic and profoundly resonant – a harmony that sails effortlessly into the emotional depths of its listeners. Breaking free from the ephemeral trends and predictable melodies, the synth-pop album, ‘Love and Oceans,’ by Ámaris Wen is crafting sonorous waves with rhythmic force. The London-based synth-pop maestro, Ámaris Wen, known for her electrifying infusion of genres, unveiled her whimsical, 10-track opus ‘Love and Oceans’ on Friday, June 16, 2023. This album is far more than an auditory delight. It’s a vessel transporting listeners through the turbulence of toxic relationships, mental health struggles, and the powerful swell of women empowerment.”Although my music isn’t always upbeat and light, it soothes listeners with lyrical messages related to embracing new beginnings and opportunities” shares Ámaris. The songs from ‘Love and Oceans’ are therapeutic lullabies for the broken-hearted, offering a comforting reassurance that new beginnings are just around the corner. Two such remarkable compositions, “Subconscious” and “Missing You”, envelope the listener in a dreamscape of moonlit melodies. The birth of “Subconscious” was influenced by Ámaris’s own bouts of insomnia due to a thyroid condition, offering a unique, relatable perspective. “Nostalgia”, a track-etched with synth-pop-inspired retro vibes, immerses listeners into a poignant narrative about clinging to relationships that are far from beneficial. Another song, “Oyster Bed” uplifts with a message to dream big and untether oneself from constraints. The song “Visionary” courageously delves into the process of shedding toxic relationships, fostering a sense of empowerment. To complement the album’s narrative, Ámaris weaves a tapestry of dreamy AI- generated imagery, amplifying the emotional resonance of each track. Her keen eye for the visual adds another dimension to the vibe of ‘Love and Oceans.’ The musical journey of Ámaris Wen is as diverse and captivating as her music itself. Born in Central Switzerland to a musical family, she developed an intimate connection with music from an early age. Her multicultural upbringing, with ties to the Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland, and England, fostered her multilingual prowess in English, German, and Dutch. Her formative years witnessed a series of moves and creative evolution. After her parents’ divorce, she moved to Zurich and honed her skills at the local drama school and the Stage & Musical School in Frankfurt, Germany, where she delved into electronic music to accompany her dance studies. It was here that she birthed her 2014 dance floor project, “Geiko – female electronic dance music.” As Ámaris’s career evolved, she stepped into the role of playlist manager for major record labels and subsequently relocated to London. There, her sound evolved towards a synth-pop and R&B blend, marked by the well-received ‘Neon Colours.’ This was followed by the ocean-inspired ‘Aquamarine’ and the introspective ‘26.’ Today, Ámaris stands proudly on the shores of her latest release, ‘Love and Oceans.’ ‘Love and Oceans’ is more than just an album – it’s a beacon of resilience and empowerment, illuminating the path toward emotional liberation. It’s a testament to the magic that unfolds when talent, passion, and life experiences converge in harmonious synchrony. At its core, ‘Love and Oceans’ is a celebration of Ámaris Wen’s resilient spirit and an invitation to journey with her into the depths of an emotional odyssey. It stands as a testament to her ability to take personal experiences and translate them into an immersive auditory experience. This article was first published on Your EDM. ‘Never Sleep’: Paul Feder Releases a Dreamy Tribute to His Late Father
We all can remember many sleepless nights during the long lockdown that accompanied the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, many of us still have residual insomnia at the very least. The worries, fears and tragedies humanity went through in those two years sometimes feel like a distant memory but we’re all still dealing with that collective trauma, and there’s still loads of important art inspired by that time being released now. Never Sleep, Paul Feder’s follow-up to his first seminal EP Nightwalk is one such work from the COVID and continued post-COVID era that’s both relatable and soothing to those of us still struggling. Feder’s work has always seemed to have a heavy personal and contemplative bent, even when he’s remixing someone else’s track (a’la his emotional rework of “Mental Abrasions” by Jane in Space or the vocal-turned-future bass version of Holly Abraham’s single “Shore”). Heavily influenced by early synth pop and electronica, Nightwalk was a dreamy as its eponym suggests but it’s all done with the help of vintage styles and techniques. For Never Sleep, the vintage cachet was even more real when Feder discovered his 90s era Yamaha keyboard in his parents’ attic. In early 2021 I unearthed my 90’s Yamaha CS2X keyboard from my parents’ attic and began to play, channeling pandemic anxiety into what would become the title track of the EP. Never Sleep is dedicated to my father, Jack Feder, who kept encouraging me to “finish the songs!” So for Feder, Never Sleep becomes not just an anxiety-fueled COVID project but literally the product of a mandate from his dad, who seemed to be one of this biggest fans. The tie-ins with the tracks also now become even more resonant for both Feder and those in the audience going through grief. The EP opener and title track starts with an emotional swell before launching into a dream pop-forward house beat as the lyrics are both dadaist and dreamy. Feder reveals himself as a storyteller in this track lyrically, as he describes his own sleepless nights in detail so great, one can almost picture the scene. Feder also showcases his style diversity here as he switched seamlessly from EDM to future bass in a way that will remind dream pop fans of M83 or Sigur Ross. The second track on the EP, “Home” is both simple and existential, as Feder tackles the concept of home and how, as we age, that comfort and feeling man had growing up seems to fade and it’s almost a loss of identity in the process. Losing a parent definitely amplifies this feeling, so knowing Feder’s impetus for these lyrics drives the point even further “home.” Using a lot of vaporwave tones and a wistful string accompaniment adds to the mood as Feder keeps the music relatively simple: the feeling of “home,” after all, is simple. “Wonderful Day” is lyrically perhaps the track that most directly addresses Feder’s father’s passing, but again it’s treated with reference and reflection rather than anger or anguish. The repeated vocoder lines “this is the end of the line…I hope you have a wonderful day,” and “don’t leave anything behind” reflect a hope many of us have for our loved ones when they pass: while death is inevitable, we hope they pass with peace, nothing left unsaid and that their next step is a nice one. For so many people who lost family and friends during COVID, this closing track can hopefully provide some comfort and the chugging beat and synths a reminder that this is all part of a bigger journey. Paul Feder addresses and also puts to rest some big existential questions in the three tracks of Never Sleep. Both recovering from collective trauma and grieving are, indeed, an ongoing process but Feder’s dreamy, vintage synth style is a soothing reprieve from the cares of the last few years, whether personal or collective. Whether Feder “never sleeps” again, he did, in fact, “finish the songs.” Never Sleep is out now and can be streamed on Feder’s Spotify Page. This article was first published on Your EDM. HARBER Makes Lowly Debut With Sensational Single, “Medicine”
Having performed on the main stage at Electric Zoo Festival, Avant Gardner, Brooklyn Mirage, Webster Hall, Terminal 5, Slate, Mercury Lounge, and many more, HARBER is no stranger to entertaining large crowds and sold-out shows. His original single with Michael Calfan ft. NISHA, “Feelings After Dark,” released on Musical Freedom in 2021, receiving heavy support from Tiësto. In 2022, HARBER released “Body Like” with 2x GRAMMY-nominee Morgan Page feat. sid tipton on Armada Music and “Nothing” on Spinnin’ Records alongside Disco Fries and GRAMMY-nominated Luxtides. With remixes for the GRAMMY-nominated “Hero” by Afrojack & David Guetta, NERVO, Dan + Shay, Sultan + Shepard x Rock Mafia x Bahari, and more, He recently announced his signing to the prestigious imprint Lowly and now he’s ready to unveil his debut single with the label, a dance pop anthem titled “Medicine ft. Sydtherockerkid”. The emotionally-charged topline, soaring melodies, and catchy lyrics are a testament to Sydtherockerkid’s talent while HARBER effortlessly supplies blissful and uplifting progressions that seem to strike perfection. “This song kicks off a new era of HARBER. I really wanted to lean into the euphoric feeling I felt when I first started listening to dance music. The type of song that makes you wanna throw your hands in the air and sing. I had a chance to test the record out live at my last show, and the crowd reaction was even better than we could have expected!” – HARBER We had the pleasure to catch up with HARBER and chat about what’s going on right now, enjoy the interview below! How long have you been DJing and producing? If you weren’t a DJ/producer, what career path would you have chosen instead? I think I’d for sure work in film, specifically on the production side. I’m a big movie buff… I’ve seen all the rom-coms. Your new single “Medicine” just released on June 30. What can you share with us about the story behind “Medicine” and how would you describe the song? I’d describe “Medicine” as a melody driven feel good piano house record with some tropical elements sprinkled throughout. I had been working on a bunch of new productions and really vibing with piano house, messing around with some solid piano driven instrumentals. From there, we were looking for the right topline to fit on this one because we knew it was special. After a while of seeing what might be the best fit, I linked with Syd and the “Medicine” topline really was the perfect fit. After months of perfecting it, I couldn’t be happier with the end result. You’re making your Lowly debut with “Medicine.” How do you feel about joining the Lowly family and their reputable roster of artists? It feels absolutely incredible to be a part of a label with artists like NGHTMRE, Bonnie X Clyde, Said The Sky, William Black, and others that I’ve looked up to, and to have a team that really believes in the music I’m making right now. Having played at some of the biggest venues and festivals in North America, you have tons of DJ experience. What are some tips or words of wisdom you can share with those just trying to break into the scene or start out as a DJ/producer? I’d say my biggest piece of advice is don’t be afraid to hear “no.” The music industry is such a tough place and you’re gonna hear so many no’s before you even get one yes – that’s just how it goes. You’ve gotta stay in there and keep believing in yourself because as tough an industry as it is there’s really nothing better. Who are three of your top dream EDM collaborators? Top three non-EDM collaborators? Oh man, there’s so many people I’d love to collaborate with. Top 3 EDM would have to be Calvin Harris, Skrillex, and Tiësto. Top 3 non-EDM artists would be Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding, and I’m not sure how we’d make this work, but the Red Hot Chili Peppers. You play gigs all across the country, which gigs have stood out to you most recently? A few weekends ago I played a 5 and a half hour b2b set with my friend Deleasa at a new club in the city called The Stranger and that was wild. There were insane circus acts performing around us all night. If you had to include one song in every set for the rest of your career, what would it be and why? Which song would you be happy to never play again? Besides my own music, I would happily play “Levels” by Avicii all day long. As for a song that never needs to be played by me again…probably “Like A G6.” What does the rest of the year have in store for HARBER? Get ready for lots of new music and lots of shows. Full steam ahead! This article was first published on Your EDM. Source: HARBER Makes Lowly Debut With Sensational Single, “Medicine”

Showtek Drop Catchy New Single “Feeling”
Showtek are back with a sensational new dance floor anthem, “Feeling.” An incredible fusion of old school piano house with modern synths and drop. “Feeling” is an instant classic in Showtek’s discography. The drop is just as memorable as “We Like to Party” or “Booyah” and it also has a more modern aesthetic. “Feeling” also tracks with Showtek’s history of vibrant and uplifting vocals. Above all else, it’s just great to hear Showtek going back to their melodic roots. The track opens up with the emotive house vocal, the piano eventually comes in to perfectly accentuate the vocal. Finally, the payoff comes and we get the big synths leading into a huge buildup. The synths become the drop and the whole song comes together on the first drop. Featuring vocals from longtime Showtek collaborator Sonny Wilson, “Feeling” is sure to go down as a staple in any Showtek set.
