Otherworldly Bass Manifests in CANVAS' New Single, "Unknown Number": Listen
Diving headfirst into the exploratory realms of left-field bass music, CANVAS has dropped a new single, "Unknown Number." The track throbs with both wonky and melodic sounds, marrying deep bass with hypnotic vocals to induce goosebumps. Painting an emotionally charged soundscape, CANVAS, who's gearing up for a landmark festival set at Nashville's Deep Tropics this summer, effortlessly weaves both dark and light elements into "Unknown Number." The psychedelic song kicks off with a phone's eerie dial tone before a soft, enticing vocal refrain melts into an all-encompassing bassline. Meanwhile, CANVAS' production brims with emotion and depth. "'Unknown Number' is about that inner call that can’t be ignored," she said in a press release. "The call that is unique to you, ringing indefinitely and growing in persistence until answered. It’s timeless. For me, that call has always been to create music. To create sonically-driven experiences that express the visceral nature of the human condition." With previous releases on Deep, Dark & Dangerous and CloZee's OdyZey, among other labels, the Zimbabwean producer has a bright future in bass music. Out now, "Unknown Number" is a testament to that unrelenting vision. Listen to "Unknown Number" below and find the new single on streaming platforms here. Anderson .Paak, Fred again.. and CHIKA Join Forces for Genre-Bending Track, "places to be"
A dream collaboration has taken shape in "places to be," a new single released by Fred again.. and Anderson .Paak. A masterclass in dissonance, the track is a meeting of the minds that feels like watching a wave crash perfectly—unexpected, yet undeniably cool. Alabama rapper CHIKA features on "places to be," wherein Fred lays down a foundation of frenetic breakbeats underneath sultry lounge synths. This frantic energy collides head-on with the velveteen vibes of Paak's smooth delivery, creating a compelling contrast. A commentary on the seductive power of distraction, his vocals crackle with bravado at times but hang heavy in the air at others. Paak has always been a master at exploring the depths of conflicting emotions with his lyrics, and his latest effort is as masterful as ever. In other Fred again.. news, the British superstar recently performed a surprise set at EDC Las Vegas, one of the world's largest and most popular electronic dance music festivals. He's also stayed busy in the studio, releasing "stayinit," a collaboration with Lil Yachty and Overmono; and "BerwynGesaffNeighbours," an official rework of Gesaffelstein's "Destinations." Following the success of their recent hit “Let You Down” with Gabry Ponte and Sofiloud, DVBBS is poised to dominate the festival season with “Warmth.” Since their explosive entry into the electronic music scene with hits like “Tsunami” and “Not Going Home,” DVBBS have been main stage staples for over a decade. Their signature sound has become synonymous with festivals worldwide. Known for their high-energy performances and ability to collaborate with talents like blackbear and Galantis, DVBBS continues to redefine their sound and in tturn the dance music landscape. Tracks like “La La Land,” “Gold Skies,” and “Angel” have solidified their status as one of dance music’s top acts, with over 250 performances annually across the globe. Joining forces with them is the Dutch wizard Boaz van de Beatz. This Week on Tomorrowland Music (and Core Records): May 2024
The summer festival season is just getting fired up, and Tomorrowland’s labels have been coming through with some certifiable heaters to get the party started. Let’s dive into the latest releases that’ll be ringing off in the fields and airwaves very soon. Goodboys and Chain Reaction First up, we’ve got the hugely anticipated return of UK house music duo Goodboys to the Tomorrowland Music imprint. These lads have been relatively quiet over the last couple years, but they’ve re-emerged with an absolute belter called “Chain Reaction.” If you’re familiar with Goodboys’ style, you’ll know they always bring those chunky, energy-packed grooves with earworm vocals and melodies. “Chain Reaction” doesn’t disappoint on that front. From the first pulsating kick drum, you get that sense of euphoria that only Goodboys can conjure up. The filtered vocals have a nostalgic, almost trance-like quality as they deliver lyrics about the dizzy rush of new love – “The way you make me feel, a chain reaction.” As the energy builds through the breakdowns, you can already envision the hands in the air and eyes rolled back in pure bliss when this one drops live. The Goodboys guys told us they’ve been testing “Chain Reaction” in their shows recently, and crowds are going suitably mental for it. They intentionally crafted it to be a real set-piece banger for their summer festival runs. Of course, their debut at the fabled Tomorrowland stages is definitely a highlight they’re buzzing for. All I can say is get ready for an explosion of pure pumping house ecstasy when they unleash this beast in Belgium! CORE welcomes Cellini Staying on the Tomorrowland Music’s boutique label CORE, we’ve got a really cool new single from the mysterious artist Cellini. Having built a solid rep with his fresh take on blending electronic styles with traditional Mediterranean and African influences, Cellini’s latest is called “Terril” and it’s a beautiful, atmospheric yet hard-hitting number. For this one, Cellini teamed up with Moroccan singer Simo Lagnawi to create a hypnotic, culturally-fused journey drawing on ancient Gnawa melodies and rhythms from Cellini’s Italian-Belgian roots. As those trancey vocal lines weave around the stuttering hand drum patterns, you can just feel the sense of longing for one’s homeland and desire to connect with your cultural origins. It has that magical, almost mystical quality that Cellini has mastered in his productions. According to Cellini, growing up in a coal mining community in Belgium, he was surrounded by the traditional folk music of Greek, Italian, Turkish and Moroccan immigrants who had that deep yearning for their home countries. With “Terril,” he wanted to capture that vibe and fuse it with Simo’s African Gnawa heritage for a totally refreshing, cross-cultural dancefloor experience. Consider me fully absorbed and transported! Andromedik Last but not least, we’ve got an absolute summer raver from the meteoric Belgian drum ‘n’ bass sensation Andromedik. Having already racked up millions of streams on bangers like “Forever” and his huge collab with Lost Frequencies, Andromedik is going stratospheric. His new single “Bleed The Same” is about to set this festival season fully ablaze. Teaming up with Dutch singer RANI, “Bleed The Same” is just pure dancefloor dynamite from the jump. Those nursery rhyme-style vocal hooks are going to be stuck in your brain for weeks. But it’s the sheer relentless energy of those pounding neuro bass lines and ripped beats that’ll have you heaving and wilding out nonstop. Andromedik has this knack for walking the line between cutting-edge sound design and maximum peaktime rave euphoria. Whether it’s the warping, grinding growls of the synths or those addictive two-step drum patterns, every element is purpose-built for uninhibited dancefloor mayhem. We can only imagine the sweat-drenched, bass-faced pandemonium when this one detonates at the festivals and raves he’s hitting up. Speaking of which, this guy’s rapidly rising stock is about to reach new heights. He recently sold out back-to-back nights for his “Andromedik Invites” concept in Antwerp, and he’s got a 9-hour rave marathon booked there in November. But the crowning moment might be hosting his own stage at Tomorrowland for the first time this July! Absolutely mental stuff. Andromedik See you at Tomorrowland 2024 So there you have it – three monster releases from Tomorrowland Music to amp you up for summer. Our advice? Gas up the crew, get flexible, and brace yourselves for absolute insanity when these anthems start doing the rounds! Tenuous Is Reigniting Australian Trap With Latest EP, JUMP / Through The Night
Listen to a terrific EP we recently came across. Just in time for your weekend ahead, we’re really excited to share a double-A-sider that may just go on to become the soundtrack of your next days. Are you a fan of all things Trap? Aussie Trap perhaps? Curious about what it sounds like? Meet Tenuous. Tenuous Hailing from The Land Down Under, Brisbane-based Enoch Mooy, known in the business as Tenuous, is a Bass and Trap producer and keyboardist, on a mission to shine a light on a much-deserved part of the local musical spectrum. He says it’s “challenging yet rewarding” to be a part of the re-emerging Trap scene in Australia. His focus leans towards Trap and other 140-BPM-tangential genres, with a driving emphasis on melodic and Bass-heavy grooves. What makes him stand out from the norm is the use of modern, custom-built synths he brings to his live performances to add that extra spice to each piece. So far, he’s shared the stage with acts such as Doctor P and MUSTD!E, and he’s firing up the engines for his next gig on June 14th. JUMP / Through The Night Mooy is, quite frankly, not only reigniting the genre’s presence in Australia, but also the industry as a whole through the sounds of his latest EP, JUMP / Through The Night. The release, comprised of the two aforementioned tracks, rocks a minimalistic nature, in which every element matters. You might know that’s a make-it-or-break-it situation, and, well, he aced it. While ‘JUMP’ contains a dark atmosphere, with groovy elements that all add levels of heat to the beat underlying, and counts with an electric guitar solo halfway through, ‘Through The Night’ — a conjoint effort alongside Sydney producer and DJ Gemunji — showcases a heavy Trap beat filled with several textures that give the piece a unique Arab/mysterious vibe. “My goal is to be a part of a movement that infuses classic musical instruments with a modern vibe. This release showcases my take on live performance in the EDM scene” -Tenuous Listen to Tenuous’ JUMP / Through The Night in full by clicking the Spotify button we’ve provided. Tomorrowland’s Debby Wilmsen Wins “Corporate Spokesperson of the Year” Award
Tomorrowland is the world’s premier music festival experience, which means it should come as no surprised that they have a killer team behind its operations and marketing. Accolades come pouring in every year and this year is no exception. During the Night of the Spokesperson event on Thursday, May 23, at ZNA Cadix, Debby Wilmsen, spokeswoman and press coordinator for Tomorrowland took home the prize. Debby has been responsible for press relations at Tomorrowland since 2009, and since 2011, she has been the spokesperson for Tomorrowland and We Are One World. Wilmsen took to LinkedIn to celebrate her receiving the “Corporate Spokesperson of the Year” award. It is believed the awards were focused on Belgians. This recognition would not have been possible without the years of trust and support from the founders Manu & Michiel, the CEO & direction, and of course all the employees of We Are One World who continuously provide me with data, fun facts, and valuable insights ‘feed the babies’. This is a team achievement. — Debby Wilmsen Awards were given in two categories: government/non-profit and private sector. In the ‘corporate’ category, the nominees were Roel Dekelver (Delhaize), Debby Wilmsen (Tomorrowland), and Piet Demeyere (TUI). The jury, composed of past winners, journalists, spokespersons and members of C Square (an association for corporate communication professionals), had the challenging task of selecting the final winner. Having worked with Debby Wilmsen for many years, EDMTunes can attest to the excellence and prowess of Debby Wilmsen. In many ways, she is Tomorrowland. Congratulations, Debby, on this well-earned accolade! The post Tomorrowland’s Debby Wilmsen Wins “Corporate Spokesperson of the Year” Award appeared first on EDMTunes.

Ekonovah presents his new release ‘Vibrant EP’
Flying high from a blistering start to the year that consisted of his debut at the globally renowned Ultra Music Festival, Ekonovah continues to churn out new music at an impressive clip. On May 24th, the emerging house producer is back with his fully independent two-track Vibrant EP, consisting of his two club-ready, original productions “Vibrant,” and “Best of Me.” Ekonovah talking about the EP This EP defines my sound as an artist Vibrant has been a staple in my sets for years and ‘Best of Me’ – I finished it back in 2021 and for over 3 years, labels have denied it over and over again. I finally decided to put it out and stop waiting for a label to see what I see in it. – Ekonovah He continues: “Around this time I was working on ‘Best of Me’, a 132bpm track and easily the highest tempo track I’d ever made! It was really exciting. I was sitting there looking at FL Studio and was thinking to myself ‘I’m gonna take a risk and put out ‘Vibrant’, here’s this new song at a BPM I’ve never worked on before, this is a risk too, let’s make it an EP.’ Making that decision felt really good, and I’m so glad I did because now these two tracks are out in the world! And, the cherry on top, I think they both sound perfect for the summer season. I just couldn’t be happier! With four releases under his belt already this year, Ekonovah is clearly a man on a mission: to not only share his music with the world but also to show that his work ethic and output are second to none. Vibrant is very much Ekonovah at his original best, featuring a pairing of tracks that encapsulates the quality and style. Fans, old and new, flock to his shows and eagerly tune into his newest productions. The story of Vibrant EP Complete with heavy bass lines, soaring horns, and pounding drums, the Vibrant EP has all of the ingredients you’ll find in an Ekonovah set. Title track “Vibrant,” a 3-year-old demo that has been a mainstay in Ekonovah sets, is complemented by “Best of Me,” a UK-inspired bass house track that outpaces every other release from Ekonovah clocking in at 132 BPM. Immaculate sound design, catchy vocals, and irresistible drums combine for the vintage Ekonovah groove. For fans looking to catch him live, head to his website and snag tickets for his upcoming dates in Vancouver, Orlando, Tampa, and more. As Ekonovah continuously evolves, the creative keeps a consistent goal in mind– to influence the electronic scene with a new sound. Deriving from a background in music at his early stages of childhood, Ekonovah has utilized his competitive advantage in his brand by engineering original vocals and pioneering melodic earworms against strong, dancey drums. The artist Once embarked in his touring endeavors, Ekonovah discovered his signature sound, as fellow supporters came up to him and made comments on his distinctive “woosh”/ “weird flute” sound. Ekonovah is well-known to be spiritually inclined within himself and his identity as an artist, and is evidently shown through his sets and connection with his fanbase. He has proven to have successful highlights in his musical career, from hitting tour stops in cities such as Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, and festivals like EDC Las Vegas, Decadence Arizona, and Bonnaroo, to sharing stages with Chris Lake, Elderbrook, Tchami, Gorgon City, Oliver Heldens, Noizu, Dombresky, Habstrakt, Drezo, Moksi and more. The Ekonovah project has more yet to come, with years worth of plans ahead and unwavering support from his team. 3 Festivals that NEED to Return: USA Edition
Electronic festivals are where the magic happens – unforgettable beats, epic drops, and memories that last a lifetime. But some of the best festivals have taken their final bow, leaving a void in the hearts of ravers across the globe. Let’s take a trip down memory lane with these 5 iconic EDM festivals that need to make their comeback: 1. EDC New York It’s no surprise that Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) Las Vegas is one of the top tier electronic music festivals in the United States. But did you know there used to be another EDC festival in the U.S., right in New York? Debuted in 2012 at New Jersey’s Met Life Stadium, EDC New York took over the electronic scene on the East Coast. The festival featured many legendary artists over their few years of operation, including Avicii, EDX, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Skrillex– to name a few. However, after EDC New York’s 2016 festival, Insomniac CEO Pasquale Rotella announced that the festival would be taking a break in 2017 and hasn’t returned since. In my opinion, with the rumors of Electric Zoo not returning to New York this year- or ever again- a prime opportunity has presented itself for EDC to mark their return to New York. 2. Mysteryland USA Another great festival announced their retirement too early, but this time it was Mysteryland USA. Their flagship festival, known simply as ‘Mysteryland’, has been a staple of electronic festivals in Europe since 1993, when it became one of the first house music festivals ever. Europe’s Mysteryland has been continually held each year in the Netherlands. But the same cannot be said for Mysteryland USA. This festival debuted in 2014 at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts- the very same venue where Woodstock was held in 1969. Unfortunately, Mysteryland USA was also short-lived and was cancelled in 2017. 3. Tomorroworld US A third U.S. festival was cancelled in the same time period as the previous two, and this time it was Tomorrowland’s sister festival. In September of 2013, the first international edition of Tomorrowland– the renowned electronic music festival held annually in Belgium- made its spectacular debut in the Chattahoochee Hills near Atlanta, Georgia. This festival drew in about 140,000 visitors from over 75 countries. In 2015, the festival was cancelled on the third day (except for Dreamville campers) due to inclement weather, limited transportation, and poor planning. Thousands were left stranded, some even sleeping on the side of the road without food or water. Several near-riots and looming lawsuits later, TomorrowWorld announced that the festival would be cancelled indefinitely.

Support Independent Electronic Music Artists With Beatport's New Weekly Playlist
Discovering talented producers before they headline festivals is one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences for any fans of dance music. Now, finding underground artists is even easier thanks to Beatport. The company will plug them in their new playlist, "Best New Independent Artists," which will update weekly to illuminate promising talents without access to the big-budget backing of a major label. The groundbreaking playlist, which Beatport says is the first of its kind, will benefit both fans who want to discover new songs as well as the artists behind them, who will connect with new audiences around the world. Beatport is collaborating with independent artist distribution partners like TuneCore, DistroKid and Music Hub to curate the playlist, according to a press release. These three partners are now actively accepting music submissions from independent artists who are looking to expand their reach. Beatport CEO Robb McDaniels and TuneCore CEO Andreea Gleeson.c/o Press It's no secret that major labels wield their influence to market their artists and blitz the electronic music scene, making it particularly difficult for new artists to find their footing when promoting their music. By spotlighting the craft of emerging talent, Beatport is empowering them to forge connections within their strong DJing community. "By curating a dedicated space for independent electronic music artists, Beatport is not only providing a platform for discovery but also ensuring that standout self-produced artists receive the recognition and compensation they deserve from the get-go," said Raphael Pujol, Beatport’s Vice President of Global Curation. "While other platforms may struggle with the distribution of small payments to artists with fewer streams," she added, "our focus remains firmly on furthering the voices of independent creators and fostering a more equitable ecosystem for electronic music. Rezz Breathes New Life Into Breakout 2016 Track, "Edge"
It's difficult to imagine Rezz's thumping 2016 hit, "Edge," any darker. But if there's anyone to reinvent the hypnotic track through an even eerier lens, its Rezz herself, who has released a new version of her breakout song. Eight years ago, "Edge" helped put Rezz and her spellbinding production style on the map. Now it's reached new heights by virtue of a massive rework, which is out now on her longtime home of mau5trap. Conjuring her signature ominous soundscapes while channeling the original track's stomping, industrial undertow, "Edge (2024 Version)" propels Rezz's classic into the future. She initially debuted the crowd-pleaser at her Phoenix show on April 20th and has since been playing it out on tour. "The OG 'edge' is one of the tracks that is so special to me," Rezz wrote on Instagram. "what it did for my early career & exposure meant so much & was such a surprise. I decided to make a new version & feel sooo stoked about it." In other Rezz news, she recently announced plans to host her very own curated, festival-style event, "Hypno Circus." "Whether it ends up being a whole festival, who knows, but one thing is for sure. I’ll definitely be having an event and it’s going to be called Hypno Circus," Rezz told EDM.com in a recent exclusive interview. "Maybe it won’t end up being a crazy Lost Lands scale of festival, but maybe it’s two nights at a really sick venue where people can fly out to the event and have two days. My stage is going to be very circus-branded." You can find "Edge (2024 Version)" on streaming platforms here.
