In November of last year, the rising artist dropped his debut album, DREAMERBOY, which received widespread attention for its innovative soundscapes and genre bending tracks. One of our favorites was “Me & U”, a trippy, soulful track landing somewhere between Diplo and James Blake.
Now, Isaiah has released a visually compelling music to the song, packed with mesmerizing  camera shots, transcendent effects, and vivid coloring, while centered around Isaiah himself. It seems to perfectly encapsulate the feeling you get listening to the song itself.

Mike Äpt’s latest release, “Bad One”, is a sonic ear candy that showcases his talent as an artist and his growth as a musician. Inspired by a girl he met in Sweden, the song is an upbeat pop track that is different from his usual R&B style. Working with his production team, which includes Bjorn Engelmann, Aldon Wells, and Wavy Duder, Mike was able to create a unique sound that captures the essence of the song’s inspiration.
Mike’s production team has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry, both in the US and abroad, and their expertise is evident in the final product.

Amidst their recent GRAMMY nomination and multiple festival headlining slots, ODESZA continue to conquer 2023 with the release of “To Be Yours” today, a playful track that sways with major indie pop vibes and showcases the dreamy vocals of Chicago’s buzzy bedroom popstar Claud (the first artist Phoebe Bridgers signed to her record label Saddest Factory Records).
The track drop follows two incredible festival performances earlier this month at Okeechobee and CRSSD, the announcement of their headlining slot at this year’s Outside Lands, as well as their other recent release “Hopeful” debuting in the top 20 of the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
“To Be Yours was a track that we had originally started back at the end of 2018. We loved the idea but struggled to find the right fit for the song until Claud sent us back their incredible vocal top line,” said ODESZA (Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight). “As soon as we heard what Claud put together we knew we had something special. The vocal melodies and delivery compliment the track in such a perfect way. We couldn’t be happier with how this one came together and are really excited for people to hear it.”

The amount of times a DJ has dropped “Midnight City” by M83 set is almost incalculable at this point. The track originally appeared on the double album, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, released in 2011. According to a quick synopsis of the album’s success, “The album placed 3rd in Pitchfork’s Top 50 Albums of 2011 list; the single ‘Midnight City’ was placed 1st on the Top 100 Tracks list. On January 26,  2012, M83 came in at number 5 on the Triple J Hottest 100 with the single ‘Midnight City.'”

It was a massive hit in every way possible, and arguably singlehandedly led to M83’s massive popularity. However, Anthony Gonzalez, the remaining sole member of the group, has stated multiple times in interviews that he laments the song’s popularity. In an infamous 2019 interview with VICE, he said, “[…] these days, I kind of just want people to forget about me and my previous success— Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming and ‘Midnight City.'”
Now, in a more recent interview with Consequence, he has doubled down.
“I mentioned this in an interview before, but it’s almost that I want to keep the fans of ‘Midnight City’ away from entering — which I mean mostly as a bad joke,” Gonzalez said.
“For me, the struggle with being a successful artist with that album, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming, and especially with that track, ‘Midnight City’, is that all of a sudden, I had this huge EDM following. EDM is probably one of the styles of music that I hate the most. All of a sudden, I have these bro EDM DJs playing my music, and I just can’t even care less. Sometimes I wish that I could erase that fan base but I don’t think it’s possible to do that.”
This isn’t something that EDM fans will necessarily take personally, but nonetheless it’s disheartening to hear that the artist behind a song that popularly shows up in hundreds of sets per year has maligned an entire fanbase wholesale.
The interview comes ahead of M83’s ninth studio album, Fantasy, due out this Friday, March 17. You can read the full interview here.

In the real world, Modapit has seemingly come out of nowhere, presenting a parallel between his real-life aspect and the character he portrays in the media surrounding his music. Questions of being an industry plant are unavoidable, but if the music is good, the point becomes rather moot.
Modapit released their first single, “Dancing,” in January, and followed it up recently with “Falling In Love” along with yet another music video. The idea behind the project is to present a cohesive and interesting story that asks as many questions as it answers, and so far, that goal hasn’t been missed.
With the release of the music video for “Falling In Love” last week, we caught up with the video’s director, David Guillermo Borges, to ask about the creative direction and actual process of filming the video — how it came together, the challenges they faced shooting in the desert, and what the future holds for Modapit.
In addition to Borges’ involvement, the video also features an impressive cast and crew, including choreographer and performer Tiffany “Violet” De Alba who has worked with Cirque Du Soleil, Diddy, and Usher, as well as Russel M. Corpis, Kendra Hagan, Dantriell Houston, Stephanie Brodie, and Bohdan Tkachenko.
When the Modapit team first sent you the song, what was the first concept in your mind as to how you would set the setting for the video?
The song was sent very early in the process, at the same time Dancing was sent. (And a few others.) The goal was to create a single story line but still have music videos that felt very different from each other. We immediately knew we wanted to shoot in a desert setting to create a drastic change from ‘Dancing,’ which takes place in the city. All these things together added to the first few ideas.
How many different versions of the video did you draft before you settled on the final concept?
I wouldn’t say different versions of the video, but a couple different things changed as we started producing it. One of the things was the wardrobe and make up. At first we thought about buying things we felt these characters would wear, but Gabriella, our protagonist, and producer said she’d be happy to create the costumes herself. Best decision we could have made, she hand made every single costume and chose the color red to represent love. Another thing I’d say changed was the story line and where in the video certain things happened, making the final project even more fascinating to watch than our first cut.
Clearly the being in the sky is meant to represent Modapit — who do the dancers represent? The motorcyclist?
In our story so far we know Modapit has something to do with the “spaceships”. The motorcyclist is the main character for our previous video Dancing, she’s been on a quest of finding the “real” Modapit, who she believes has answers about what happened to her sister. She has brought the mask of someone that was probably an impostor to this group of almost a religious cult in hopes of being accepted into this place floating in the sky. I believe the dancers represent our connection to artists. The motorcyclist would represent us trying to become a part of the music scene. Modapit would represent a different kind of artist, one that I believe is not after fame or fortune but more about getting people together.
What was the shooting process like out in the desert as far as working around weather and lighting?
The weather in Vegas was incredible when we landed, but a couple days before the shoot it started to get really cold and wet. We had about 15 people booked for this, a scary feeling thinking you’d have to reschedule. But somehow like the beam of light shining out of the modaship, the sky opened up that morning for a few hours allowing us to film the dance part of the video, only to get impossibly cold that afternoon. Call it luck, or a blessing but I believe this video was supposed to happen that day. I do love Vegas and can’t wait to come back in May for Moda’s first performance.
Is this story over?
The story is not over, we have yet to really meet the sister of our main character, who was teased in the What is Modapit trailer. We also want to show people what it would look like if our main character met the real Modapit and got answers about her sister.

As a genre, dubstep is no longer as critically maligned as it once was in the early 2010s. You can find influences in major pop songs and there are entire festivals, stage takeovers, and stadium tours featuring the now iconic sound. Of course, the sound has changed over the past decade. The slow, methodical burning of bass and drums that began the wave in the late 2000s has been replaced with quarter notes, heavily distorted bass, and, sometimes, pretty unimaginative design.
There are still those who represent the old guard, namely, in this case, Emalkay, The Others, and Subscape. Each of them have been a part of the scene, creating waves, for the past 15 or more years. Only recently did they all come together on their first single, “Inside My Head.”
“We thought it was a collaboration long overdue so we mashed out some beats together one day and before we knew it we eventually ended up with a huge body of work with this being one of our favourite tracks. We are thrilled to finally have it out there and on the legendary Deadbeats label too! We hope you enjoy it.’ – Emalkay
Now, their complete Flashpoint EP is officially out via Deadbeats, featuring 8 tracks of legendary bass. It transports us back to the olde days, when the scene wasn’t quite as saturated, when innovation and new discoveries in design and arrangement were being made seemingly every month, and we all knew that 140 was the true BPM.

Electronic dance music (EDM) is a subgenre of the constantly developing music business that has gained popularity year after year (EDM). Unique electronic dance music performers with innovative sounds and production methods have emerged in recent years. The San Francisco Bay Area’s own Eugene Luu is one of the most promising new EDM performers.
During the height of the electronic dance music (EDM) era in 2012, Eugene Luu said in a recent interview, “I was inspired to become a music producer.” During that time, he learned to play the piano on his own and took guitar lessons as a youngster. As a result of being impressed by Avicii’s early work, he started heavily consuming progressive house. He has since subsequently released other songs that have become hits on streaming services like Spotify, such as “Contra” (co-written with Grammy nominee Feenixpawl) and “Serenus” (with the band The Mercenaries).
Eugene Luu’s work with Grammy-nominated Australian producer Feenixpawl on the track “Contra” stands out. Eclypse Records (a sub-label of Armada Music) released the track with support from Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Martin Garrix.
Eugene Luu said when questioned about his creative process that he usually starts with a simple melody and builds on it. He thinks that when he doesn’t give it too much thought, melodies and lyrics come to him easily. If a catchy riff or melody pops into his head, he’ll hum it out and record it so he may use it later as inspiration.
Eugene Luu, an independent musician and producer, thinks there’s always opportunity to improve and that progress shouldn’t be slowed down. Although he has accomplished much, he has encountered obstacles such as the time it takes him to complete a project because he isn’t satisfied with it or the emergence of a new subgenre that necessitates him to change his approach.
Armin Van Buuren played Eugene Luu’s “The Mercenaries” on his show A State of Trance, and he’s produced multiple albums on the revered electronic music label Armada Music. In 2015, he performed for the first time outside of the country when he was the featured act at Cuvee, the most prestigious nightclub in Penang. Since then, he has played in a wide variety of illustrious venues all around Asia and the United States, such as the LEX Nightclub at the Grand Sierra Hotel & Casino in Reno, Nevada, and the Avalon Nightclub in Hollywood, California.
While Eugene Luu has had much success as a musician, he is of the opinion that anyone may benefit from learning to play an instrument. As a means of getting their names out there and trying something different to stand out, he recommends that up-and-coming musicians approach smaller labels before expanding their professional networks.
Ultimately, the success of alternative EDM acts like Eugene Luu demonstrates that the music business is always developing, and that there is a place for everyone who is willing to work hard enough to make it. Eugene Luu’s perseverance in making groundbreaking music and appearing at high-profile events around the world is proof that passion, perseverance, and dedication can lead to success. If you want to hear more of Eugene Luu’s work, you can check out his original releases on Spotify or listen to some of his popular remixes on SoundCloud.

If you were listening to the radio in 2008 (like most of us; Spotify was only founded in 2006 and didn’t gain popularity for a few years), there’s no way you could avoid hearing “Sex On Fire” by Kings of Leon. It was absolutely everywhere. Now, 15 years later, the song has been given a modern dance spin by NITTI, fka Nitti Gritti.
As Audien loves to say, progressive house never dies, and NITTI transforms the rock classic an emotional progressive house ballad. Personally I wish a bit more of the original guitar riffs would have stayed, extending some of the measures before the vocals come in, but as the track is already at 4 minutes long, there is still plenty to sink your teeth into.

Following the release of her recent single “Transport God” and the launch of FMU Records, Alison Wonderland showcases what her most recent project Whyte Fang is made of as she shares a deeper look into her forthcoming debut LP, GENESIS, officially due for release in just over a month on April 14th.
The fourth single from the project, “SCREAM,” crowns famed Flatbush Zombies member Erick The Architect as her first album collaborator.
“Erick and I have been friends for a long time and working together was well overdue, I absolutely love working with him. He is a true artist. It was an honor and a privilege.”
Like previous singles, “SCREAM” makes fantastic use of suspense in the melody and choice of synths. Erick’s indomitable flow also contributes to a feeling that you’re facing an unstoppable force, coupled with the jittering synths in the drop. There’s an intense feeling of unease and uncertainty that instantly memorable.
Check it out below.
