You can already expect a lot of Skrillex news this year as it seems like the producer/DJ is finally breaking the levee that fans have been waiting for. After years of teasing new original work, he shared a ton of clips on Sunday of new music he’ll be putting out this year, and we just got “Rumble” with Fred again.. and Flowdan today.
In the same breath announcing the single was out, he revealed that his next single is releasing tomorrow, “Way Back Home” with Pink Pantheress and Trippie Redd.
This is really going to be the year of Skrillex.
In the meantime, listen to “Rumble” below.

The day is finally here, when the most anticipated track of 2023 has finally arrived. It might not be yours, particularly, but by and large the collaboration between the iconic Skrillex, the trailblazing Fred again.., and talented Flowdan is at the top of more people’s collective lists than anything else this year. Of course, we’re still pretty early in the calendar but that’s no reason to diminish the hype for “Rumble.”
After teasing two albums this year just earlier this week, Skrillex is starting off the year powerfully releasing “Rumble,” taking heavy influence from garage and grime with the help of his collaborators. The bass is impeccable, the vocal chops are classic Skrillex, and the production is some of the most perfect work we’ve heard in recent years.
It’s a little disappointing the song is less than two-and-a-half minutes long, but that appears to be an overall trend for a lot of music lately as algorithms promote shorter pieces of content. That being said, it also takes less time to repeat the song over and over.

deadmau5 isn’t wasting any time heading into the new year with new music, as We Are Friends 11 is expected pretty soon. The latest single on the compilation comes from the head honcho, following “XYZ” released in the middle of last year. (This compilation has been a long time coming, huh?)
The mau5trap leader isn’t foreign to hip hop, having collaborated with his favorite SHOTTY HORROH on a few occasions. This time he teams up with YTCracker. The match seems odd, looking at YT’s social media, but it comes into focus when you look at his bio —
“YTCracker is a formerly notorious computer hacker who stopped hacking everyone’s gibson and started rapping about it instead. Recognized as a forefather of the ‘nerdcore’ genre[…]” Now it makes more sense.
Style-wise, the collaboration bears a lot of sonic and rhythmic similarities to his work with SHOTTY, but it still bears that same sort of mau5 nerdiness we’ve come to love.
Check out “Antisec” below.

Well, that didn’t take long. After dropping a whole bunch of clips for new tracks expected in this year just yesterday, Skrillex has revealed that the highly anticipated “Rumble” with Fred again.. and Flowdan officially has a release date: this Wednesday, January 4.
The song has been sought after for months, and especially after Fred again..’s banner Boiler Room set last year.
There’s not much else to say about this release other than hold onto your seat, this is where the ride begins.

We’re officially in 2023. All the end of year lists are done and new ones are expected… “What to expect,” “What to look out for,” “What we still don’t have…” In the same fashion, DJs and producers are already playing out some of their big new tracks for this year with the slew of New Year’s Eve & Day events all across the country this past weekend.
Rezz played at Hijinx in Philadelphia this past weekend on the 30th, so not quite NYE but it still qualifies as a NYE festival. During her set, she played out an unreleased collaboration with Quackson and Wreckno that has us incredibly excited. Rezz and Quackson have similar styles insofar as they both play within the spectrum of midtempo, and Wreckno’s unique bass style and composition definitely have an effect with the final track, as well.
Check out the previous below, as she says it’s coming out “REAALL soon.”

In November 2019, following a GRAMMY nomination for “Midnight Hour” with Boys Noize featuring Ty Dolla $ign, Skrillex took to social media to express his thanks to everyone who supported the track, stating “we would not be here if it wasn’t for you.” But he didn’t end the video there, as he continued, saying, “I’m just in the studio finishing my albums.”
Then, in May 2022, he sadly pulled off the lineups of Movement Detroit and Tampa Sunset Music Festival. Once again, in his announcement, he managed to slip in that significant plural: “albums.”
Both posts have since been scrubbed from social media and we’ve been patiently waiting for any news on a new album since he released Recess in 2015.
Today, he shared a 42-second teaser absolutely filled with clips of music. Some, we’ve heard before, others are a bit more nebulous in identity. According to /u/ddarion on Reddit, the IDs could be as follows:
Skrillex ft. Starrah – El dorado ID
Skrillex w/ Fred Again and Flowdan – Rumble
Skrillex w/ Fred Again – Stay with me
Skrillex w/ Sleepnet and Joker – Tears ID
Skrillex w/ Kid Cudi – Moving here ID
Skillex w/ Bladee – Real Spring
Skrillex w/? – Xena ID
Skrillex w/ Porter/Virtual self? – ID
Skrillex w/ Trippe Redd – Way Back ID
Skrillex w/ Beam – Selecta
Skrillex w/? – Inhale/Exhale
Skrillex w/ Missy Elliot – Party People
Skrillex w/ Sam G? – PinkPantherss
Skrillex himself even shared the Dropbox link to the pure audio from the teaser on his own subreddit.
Whatever this ends up being — suggestions for “QFF/DGTC” seem to consistently lead to “Quantum Field Friends/Don’t Get Too Close” — we’re likely to see a very busy year for the OWSLA don.

JS aka The Best offers a new way to approach percussion on Bossa Nova. Continuing his study of sound already shown in his countless commercial works, he takes on percussion in an emotionally charged fashion. Far away from the idea of a time-keeping device, he infuses the concept with the utmost of emotion. The result of this strategy is something that truly touches the soul. All of his pieces have this similar cadence, a looseness that is liberating. By refusing to pigeonhole himself into one style, the tracks flow one to the other in a lyrical fashion.
Vocals add to this heightened state. Quite liberating the approach does draw from his own background, one that includes his classical percussion training. The movement towards a more organic sound within electronic music is a relatively recent one and most overseas with the likes of the Moritz von Oswald Trio and Elektro Guzzi. By keeping the work within a more pop-oriented context, however, JS aka The Best sidesteps the trend of the experimental for something a bit more accessible.
Good headphones and good speakers are a must for the way that JS aka The Best sculpts the sound deserves to be heard in the highest fidelity. Bossa Nova stuns and shows off JS aka The Best’s exquisitely crafted layers.

Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Axwell make up Swedish House Mafia, but it’s not the only group these three are in. Axwell and Ingrosso teamed up for years and were incredibly successful, but the project between Ingrosso and Angello, called Buy Now, is objectively lesser known.
As a duo, the two put out a single in 2008 and then went silent. (Tracks under Buy Now and Peter Brocks on Spotify are incorrectly attributed, and Buy Now actually refers to Buy Now Records.) However, as 2022 draws to a close, they’ve risen from the depths for an A/B release with PARISI, “Church” and “Speak Up.”
“We Haven’t released ‘Buy Now’ music since 2008 so 2022 felt like a good start to fuck around in the studio and put out music,” Angello said on Twitter. “First we did the collaboration with Salvatore Ganacci and today we let you take part of a long night at Church studios in London with our brothers Parisi!”

The anticipation for Sami’s new album is building! The singer has released two tracks so far and they are both sounding great. Making a name in the music world is something the majority of indie artists struggle with. From planning releases, to booking shows, not all can keep up with the trends and demands within progressive music culture. After navigating the pandemic, many artists fell short of being able to finance their careers and invest in themselves, many turned to online concerts with success, whereas many lost their sense of direction. When it comes to showcasing commitment to one’s platform and persevering through unprecedented times, one artist comes to mind. Meet Treyfromnextdoor.
Treyfromnextdoor is known for his distinct records that produce intoxicating rhythms. He stands out for his laid back, catchy and bass heavy vibes. Trey’s music offers everything and more of what listeners expect from bass heavy production. His music has a rhythmic craft, an emotional factor, and above all, solid bass lines that will make anyone dance. Trey’s unique flow not only makes his songs deeply engrossing but engaging as well.
Some of Trey’s smash hits include “2 Seater” “Louis V,” “Love Sound,” “Laughed Last,” and “McChicken.” Despite having the gifted skills of a producer and a refined sense of music, finding his space in this extremely competitive industry was not easy for Trey. He initially struggled to pave his way into the space as a budding artist seeking an audience. However, Treyfromnextdoor overcame this challenge through valuable industry networking and working hard on his craft to become better with every new release.
As an artist who made his way into the music industry without any guide or mentor, Treyfromnextdoor always emphasizes being original. His advice to aspiring talents is to never be a cheap copy of a trend just to be in the limelight. Trends fade, and so does fame. It is always a good idea to be original and create a niche audience who will become loyal followers. Treyfromnextdoor also believes that being in the company of the right people who share similar ideas and enthusiasm can also motivate you to work harder towards your goals.
Treyfromnextdoor will continue producing more refreshing and unique records, adding a few more millions of streams on his digital platforms. He is also looking forward to performing at some of the top global music events in the coming years, enthralling his fans with his memorable lyricism.

Arky Waters caps the year off with his new single ‘Back To You’ featuring the vocals of Jade Alice.
This marks Arky’s first collaboration with another vocalist – Jade’s dream pop roots and catchy hooks move with the emotional depths of the track, capturing us through the tender and darker moments.
“We made this track around COVID times, I sent her a DM and I honestly didn’t expect a reply, she ended up being open to working with me even though I had nothing out at the time. I sent over an idea that she vibed with and she sent back the hook that’s currently on the track. Once I heard that hook I basically ended up crafting the song around the vocal. For our first time working together it went super smooth; she’s talented as hell. I’d been a fan of her stuff for a while so it was cool to finally make something together.”
The track is paired with a four part visualiser made by upcoming Sydney artist Don Kaiyote; the collaboration explores themes of young love, heartbreak and loneliness.
“The most important part of this project was to make something that felt close to us – we wanted to capture beauty in something that was quite real and ordinary, something we’ve all felt before.”
The video takes us through the journey of young love as a person of colour growing up in western society, diving into the complexities of the modern-day “situationship” and the feelings that revolve around that behind closed doors.
Arky Waters is a Sydney based artist exploring his early love for indie/folk with the electronic textures of rave music. Starting in 2020,it began as an outlet from his usual work with alt-rock band ‘Silvers’, and soon blossomed into its own project as he found his feet in production. The songs act as a soundtrack to his life growing up in the suburbs of Australia, bridging the gap between indie/folk songwriting and the pulse of electronic music.

Newcomer Tash Blake is making an impressive debut with a memorable, attention-grabbing song that we cannot get out of our heads. Titled “Mannequin“, Tash Blake seems to be an addictive blend of Britney Spears esque pop music with production reminiscent of Alok.
After originally growing up immersed in dance and musical theater, Tash eventually decided to combine her passion for the legendary performance aspects of Madonna, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga into one grand visual and auditory experience, which is on full display in the video for “Mannequin.”
Tash shares, “Mannequin comes from such an incredibly real place. I had just ended a longterm relationship of manipulation where I was never allowed to be my true self. This song sparks a new beginning in which I am finally free to say or do anything. I wanted to write something carefree and upbeat to dance to with my friends, but also empowering to give strength to those who find themselves in a situation similar to mine. In the past, I’ve tried to speak out but wasn’t heard, I tried to be my own person, but felt forced to be someone else.”
From start to finish, it’s hard to get enough of this single, from the driving slap house beat and the bubbly pop melodies that instantly seem to get stuck in your head.
