Don't be surprised when your toddler gets signed before you.

Playtime Engineering has launched a Kickstarter campaign for their upcoming device, myTRACKS. Designed for their line of Blipblox synthesizers to be somewhere between a toy and a music production suite, the instrument is built to help children begin to explore the world of electronic music production in a way that's accessible to them.

You might be surprised to hear just how many features are packed into this unassuming device. Despite a colorful paint job that makes it look like a Fisher-Price toy, theΒ product page says that myTRACKS has a built-in microphone and speakers, polychromatic backlit hit pads and a MIDI-out port so it can be connected elsewhere. The instrument is also battery-operated so kids can create from anywhere they'd like.Β

In terms of the music production tools, there are close to 50 customizable instruments, including effects like filters, delay and pitch bend. Users can also harness recording capabilities that allow them to record and edit or loop their sounds.

The Kickstarter campaign for Playtime Engineering's myTRACKS is set to go live on Tuesday, April 9th. You can sign up for early access here and check out the company's lengthy breakdown video, which details many of its features, below.
