It’s quite amazing to look back and realize that the announcement that Insomniac was bringing Beyond Wonderland to Chicago (June 1 + 2) was all the way back in 2023. The city and our industry have been going through many changes since the pandemic and are still trying to find their footing. We do have some ol’ reliables such as Lollapalooza, North Coast, and ARC Music Festival. But there have been a few festivals that have come in, stayed a year or two, and left for various reasons. So when Beyo

We caught up with the legend himself during one of his more recent shows in South America. Paul van Dyk needs no introduction. *Featured Cover Photo Credit: Scott Hutchinson / Portola Music Festival On the weekend of Sept. 27-28, the Portola Music Festival at Pier 80 in San Francisco once again electrified fans, just like it did in 2022 and 2023. Photo Credit: Benjamin Adams This past weekend marked the third anniversary of Project Glow in Washington D.C.’s RFK Stadium. With a stellar lineup, great stage production, and a good offering of pre and after parties, the festival’s continued improvement year over year has solidified its place as a staple east coast festival; and a welcome success as other events in the region crumble and decline. We went to M2 for Carl Cox & Mathame this past Race Week. For those who have been to the prior iteration of this club, M2 is bigger, better, and completely reimagined. The production is frankly unmatched and the club has it more than deserved to be on any of the world’s top clubs list. The staff are also hardworking and very friendly. As for the Selecta Friday night, Carl Cox — as usual — did not disappoint. King Carl took us all on a magical journey playing mostly hard, dark Techno trac

Drum & Bass has been taking off the last year in the States. While it was always popular across the pond in The UK, here in The U.S. it took some time. But, now it is hot and people can’t get enough. I haven’t seen people go this wild in a while. Sub Focus, Dimension, Culture Shock, & 1991 brought their WORSHIP show to New York for the 3rd time. This was by far the biggest edition with it being held at The Great Hall in Brooklyn. The venue is perfect for every genre of dance music.

The large ‘U’ festival celebrated a fantastic return to South America recently. When you think of Ultra Music Festival, you likely gravitate towards Miami straight away. But we’re lucky enough to have them all over the world, celebrating parties far and wide. That is certainly a blessing for energetic crowds living in somewhat further places in the globe, like South America. I’ve been here for a while, and it’s safe to say it’s growing a strong community of Dance-devoted madmen like me.

Since COVID, there’s been some huge changes in the music scene in the city of Chicago. Promotional companies going under or radio silent. Many of the most notorious clubs have changed their management and overall structure completely. Some loved artists politely decline to come back to the city because of the changes. It has been a confusing few years navigating all of this (of course, we’ll always have House music). But if you comb through Chicago EDM fan pages, there is a theme that is very ea
