Rampage Open Air 2025 Drops Stacked Lineup
Rampage Open Air 2025 has started its ticket sales with a massive Line-Up Featuring Becky Hill, Hybrid Minds, Excision, REZZ, Malaa (Alter Ego), and Wilkinson. This year will also bring Europe’s Highest Swing Ride, Expanded Facilities, Bigger Techno Stage, and the Exclusive Rampage Train. From July 3-6, 2025, Rampage Open Air will once again take over the Kristalpark in Lommel. True to tradition, the organization is going above and beyond to live up to its reputation as the “biggest drum-‘n-bass & dubstep festival in the universe”. In addition to these heavy hitters, bass fans can look forward to big names like Gentlemens Club, K Motionz, Kanine, Koven, and rising stars Levity and Mozey. Belgian bass hero Murdock, founder of ROA and Mister Rampage himself, will also make his appearance. The musical offering is undoubtedly five-star quality, but Rampage Open Air is all about the complete experience. That’s why the theme this year is once again BIGGER, BETTER, BOLDER! This year, the techno stage will be significantly larger, while the glamping, hotel, and resort options have been expanded. Traditionally, Thursdays have been exclusive to campers, but Thursday, July 3, 2025, will now be a full-fledged open festival day with separate tickets available. Of course, the on-site pools and crowd-favorite attractions—bumper cars, spinning rides, skate ramps, video games, and more—at the Rampage Theme Park will return. A brand-new highlight for this edition is the Europe Flyer, the highest swing ride in Europe, located right on the festival grounds. After last year’s successful trial, the Rampage Express is back! Festivalgoers can travel to ROA 2025 on Thursday, July 3, aboard this exclusive train departing from Brussels-South, stopping at Antwerp-Central, and continuing to the festival grounds in Kristalpark Lommel. On Monday, July 7, the party animals can take the Rampage Express back home. Tickets for this special train are available directly via the Rampage Open Air website. After surpassing 60,000 visitors in 2024, Rampage Open Air 2025 aims to continue its spectacular growth trajectory. Tickets are available here! Wade Talks NYE, Life Lessons, Dubai Set & More
Born in a small Spanish town Wade has rapidly risen to prominence in the dance music world. Growing up in a neighborhood filled with flamenco and rhythmic drum beats fueled his passion for music early on and still inspires his sounds today. Featuring on labels such as Universal Music, Atlantic Records, and Black Book Records, Wade blends driving rhythms with hip-hop elements. He has also collaborated with artists like David Guetta, Joel Corry and Solardo and topped charts while picking up millions of streams on Spotify. His energetic DJ sets ignite dance floors worldwide and soon bring him to Dubai to play at FIVE Palm Jumeirah’s crown jewel, Bohemia Beach Club, which has seen the likes of French Montana, Franky Rizardo, Lost Frequencies and more. Here the Criterio founder speaks to us about his upcoming performance and plans for the new year. What’s good and bad in your world right now? The good? The energy from the fans and the opportunities to keep evolving musically. Every gig feels like a new chapter, and the connection with the audience is unmatched. On the flip side, the schedule can be intense—balancing touring, studio time, and personal life is always a challenge. But honestly, I wouldn’t trade this for anything. The highs far outweigh the challenges. How did you celebrate the New Year? Were you DJing? What tune did you play at midnight if so? I rang in the New Year doing what I love most—DJing. There’s no better way to celebrate than sharing the moment with a crowd that’s full of energy and ready to dance into a new chapter. What is the most important lesson you have learned in your journey so far? The most important lesson has been to stay true to myself and my sound. Trends come and go, but authenticity is what really connects with people. Also, I’ve learned the importance of patience and consistency—building something meaningful takes time, and it’s worth the effort to get it right. You’re heading to Dubai to play at Bohemia Beach Club this January – what have you got in mind for your set? For Dubai, I’m planning something special. Bohemia Beach Club has such a unique vibe, so I want the set to reflect that energy. It’ll be a mix of my signature sound with fresh edits and a few unreleased tracks I’ve been working on. The idea is to create a journey that matches the atmosphere of the location.Do you repack your record bag/USB before each gig, or have folders for certain sets or moods or vibes? How do you organise things? I always prepare folders for each show, and inside those folders, I organize the songs by intensity and musical tone. Will there be any road testing of new tracks at all, is that something you do across the year? Absolutely. Testing new tracks on the road is a crucial part of my process. It’s the best way to feel how a track connects with a live audience. You can tweak things in the studio endlessly, but nothing compares to seeing how people react on the dance floor. I always carry a few unreleased tracks to test throughout the year.Have you got any favorite tools or tech that you rely on when DJing or in the studio? I always use 4 CDJ-3000s, a V-10 mixer, and a RMX-1000. I like to play around by adding live vocals with the fourth CDJ.Will you plan to do anything else in Dubai, is there anywhere you will check out or any places you’ve been before you can recommend? Whenever I perform in Dubai, I stay for at least a week to visit places and have some leisure time, as it’s a city where you can have a lot of fun. I love going on desert excursions, visiting the Burj Khalifa, and of course, spending the afternoon at Dubai Mall.

Practice Makes Pointless: Suno AI CEO Claims Most People "Don't Enjoy" Making Music
Mikey Shulman, co-founder and CEO of the generative AI music platform Suno, is facing backlash after claiming in an interview that most people find the music creation process "not really enjoyable." Speaking on the venture capital industry podcast The Twenty Minute VC (20VC), Shulman painted a rather bleak picture of music production, suggesting that learning an instrument or mastering software is too much of a hassle for the average person. "It's not really enjoyable to make music now," he told host Harry Stebbings. "It takes a lot of time, it takes a lot of practice, you need to get really good at an instrument or really good at a piece of production software." "I think the majority of people don’t enjoy the majority of the time they spend making music," Shulman added. Suno's AI-powered platform allows users to produce songs simply by entering text prompts. Its CEO's vision of democratizing music creation through artificial intelligence represents a growing tension in the music industry: the struggle between traditional, skill-based artistry and AI-powered instant gratification. "If you want to impact the way a billion people experience music, you have to build something for a billion people," he declared, apparently dismissing centuries of human musical tradition as too cumbersome for the masses. “It’s not really enjoyable to make music now… it takes a lot of time, it takes a lot of practice, you have to get really good at an instrument or really good at a piece of production software. I think the majority of people don’t enjoy the majority of time they spend making… pic.twitter.com/zkv73Bhmi9 — Mike Patti (@mpatti) January 11, 2025 The tech exec's claims seem perfectly timed to justify the AI-powered framework of Suno amid mounting legal troubles. Suno is currently battling a pair of landmark lawsuits containing explosive copyright infringement allegations from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which claims the company used copyrighted recordings without permission to train its AI models. The trade body is reportedly seeking damages of up to $150,000 for each copyrighted work While he defended Suno's technology as "transformative" on 20VC, many in the music industry are bemoaning his comments for bastardizing the value of musical craftsmanship. "It's very revealing," one X user wrote in response. "The solutionist language just doesn't make sense for art, or for other things where the work is the enjoyment, but the tech companies seem stuck in their story." You can watch the full interview below.

[Interview] Pulse Events CEO Luffy Huang Talks Upcoming Spring Festival, Asian Inspired Dance Music, EDC Korea, and More
In just two weeks, Pulse Events returns with its third annual Spring Festival: Lunar New Year Celebration. With this year being the year of the snake, it was fitting to have DJ Snake to close out day 3, with ILLENIUM and DJ Diesel also making headlining appearances. Other acts adding to the festivities include, JVNA, yetep, Space Laces, Audien, and many more. The stacked 3 day festival takes place at Avant Gardner on 1/30 -2/1 and will no doubt be the best way to party and celebrate the Lunar New Year that weekend in the tristate area. The man behind Spring Festival is none other than Luffy Huang who is the CEO of Pulse Events. Since establishing Pulse Events in 2015 as the first Asian-led entertainment company in the United States, Luffy’s mission has been to foster diversity, unity, and togetherness through the power of music. Throughout his career, Luffy has been instrumental in diversifying the dance music landscape in North America, while promoting asian culture through high-profile events. His recent accomplishments include developing Krazy Super Concert, one of America’s premier K-pop music festival brands, and bringing the first ever S2O Festival to New York City which is regarded as the biggest water festival in the world. Under his leadership, Pulse Events will also be producing EDC Korea in Incheon on April 25-26. On top of these large scale events, Pulse Events has hosted over 70 industry-leading electronic music artists such as Martin Garrix, Marshmello, SLANDER, Afrojack, Gryffin, KSHMR, Kill The Noise, Like Mike, Seven Lions, Vini Vici, Yellow Claw, and more. We had the opportunity to sit down with Luffy ahead of Spring Festival to get the rundown on the planning behind the festival, asian inspired dance music, EDC Korea, and more. First off, thanks for chatting with us. This year’s lineup looks amazing and it seems like each edition of Spring Festival just gets better and better. Can you share any changes/improvements that we can expect this year from the previous? This is our third annual Spring Festival and it is definitely our biggest one yet. We are expanding from two days to three days this year at Avant Gardner‘s Great Hall and we’ve booked massive headliners including ILLENIUM, Diesel and DJ Snake. Our night market is back and will be even more immersive, and lion dance performances will again showcase the Lunar New Year culture. New this year is an art installation that will be a cool photo op for fans – an LED lion. We are also introducing unique merch including Pulse Events branded lion head beanie hats that fans can wear at the show and throughout the two weeks that we celebrate Lunar New Year. Lunar New Year is a significant cultural event for many Asian communities, symbolizing family reunion and new beginnings. How do you believe dance music events such as Spring Festival can contribute to a deeper understanding of Asian culture and traditions? Dance music is a universal language and our headliners this year are popular not only among Asian fans, but fans around the world including in the US. Like our past two Spring Festival editions, we are excited to welcome fans who are not only from New York City’s Asian community, but who are of all backgrounds who love to see top talent perform. From the moment that attendees step into Spring Festival, they will be walking through the night market and witness lion dance performances. This will be integrated with Lunar New Year-inspired decorations at the Great Hall. Fans will be able to dance together to their favorite DJs while being introduced to or becoming more connected to cultural traditions through music. We will be one big family celebrating Spring Festival. Balancing tradition and innovation is crucial in today’s evolving cultural landscape. How does Pulse Events strike a balance between preserving the core elements of Lunar New Year and incorporating fresh, innovative ideas, particularly within the realm of electronic music? First and foremost, we make sure that the artists we book are aligned with our mission to highlight Lunar New Year. As you can see in our event flyers, the most prominent thing is the cultural elements and this year, drawing attention to the Year of the Snake. This year, we were very lucky to have our wish come true, to be able to book DJ Snake to close out the three-day event. It will be the most fitting and perfect ending. The choice of headliners is essential in shaping the overall experience of a music festival. How do you ensure that the selected headliners align with the cultural themes and spirit of Lunar New Year, resonating with the diverse audience? I aim to book artists who are popular in Asia as well as in the US. These artists such as DJ Snake, our day three headliner, play in Asia often and draws huge crowds. Secondly, I try to book artists who are of Asian background. For example, direct support for ILLENIUM on day one will be Taiwanese-American DJ JVNA. Also many of our local support DJs are Asian and known in the community, and help us spread the word about our unique Lunar New Year celebration. What is Pulse Events’ long-term vision for promoting cultural diversity and inclusion through electronic music events? How do you plan to continue fostering a sense of community and shared experience while celebrating Asian culture? Our long-term vision is that through holding events with renowned DJs and infusing Asian culture into the production elements, we will help people recognize what a huge part of Asian culture dance music has become, and give them a taste of what it’s like to experience shows in Asia. Our mission has become not only to bring the east to the west as we have with Spring Festival and other events like S2O New York, but we are now bringing the west to the east as I am heading up EDC Korea’s return this year to Incheon. What inspired you to create Spring Festival and how does it feel producing the event for a third year in a row? Spring festival, or Lunar New Year, is the biggest celebration of the year in Asian culture. That is why it is the first event I brought to New York City. I feel very fortunate to be producing it for the third straight year at the world-class venue that is Avant Gardner. I feel blessed that it has grown to be three days and that we have booked amazing talent all around for this year. What are some of the most rewarding moments and challenges from the first three iterations of Spring Festival? One of the most rewarding moments of the past two iterations of Spring Festival was being able to book SLANDER last year. They are a favorite among our Pulse Events fans and it was a massive success for us. One of the challenges was bringing the vision of the night market and decorations to come to life and expand on it. The first Spring Festival, we only had the decorations and it was a good start, but last year we were able to bring in the night market and the lion dancers and I’m very proud that it went from a challenge to rewarding to see that grow from my vision. How has Pulse Events evolved since the first Spring Festival and what were the most exciting moments? Spring Festival started as a two-day event in 2023 that just had New Year-themed decorations at Great Hall. Last year, we activated a night market, which allowed fans to partake in some of the traditions that happen during this special time of the year. For me, the exciting moments were when the lion dancers performed right before the headliners. I felt that fans realize that our event is different from any other show with the same artists and really set us apart. Where do you see the future of Asian inspired dance music events heading this year? I see a bright future for Asian-inspired dance music events this year. As I said earlier, Pulse Events is dedicated now not only to bringing the east to the west, but the west to the east. One of my main focuses right now is producing EDC Korea, which is returning for the first time in years. EDC Las Vegas is the biggest electronic music festival in the US and the brand will make a huge mark in South Korea this year. I am so excited for Korean fans to experience the magic that is Electric Daisy Carnival. How did you approach curating the artist lineup for Spring Festival? I think about who the hot acts are at the moment and how they would fit into the world of Spring Festival. I also listen to feedback from fans and see who they are desiring to watch. I also put a lot of thought into the support lineup for the event. Many of the many of them are locals who are of Asian background and one of my biggest goals in Spring Festival and all my events is to boost people in our community. What is the best reaction you’ve seen from a fan at your show? The most heartwarming reactions from fans I’ve seen are at the Spring Festival night market. It allows them to understand the Lunar New Year culture and I love seeing fans take pictures with their friends at the photo booth. We also have a makeup and Kandi making station coming this year. It’s great to see fans receive positive energy from our show and start the New Year this way. What events can we expect to see from you and Pulse Events in 2025? The biggest one is going to be EDC Korea in April. We are working very hard on that and I cannot wait to share the special elements and lineup that are going to make it an epic comeback to the country. We are also going to be bringing back S2O for the second annual edition at the Brooklyn Mirage and are thrilled to do so after a highly successful first edition last year. What are some highlights attendees can expect to see at this year’s Spring Festival? ILLENIUM’s performance will be a big moment for Pulse Events and our fans. It is the first time that we have booked ILLENIUM and he is one of the most popular artists among our fans so we are so excited to bring him. He is also a huge supporter of the Asian community and knows he has many Asian fans so it’s going to be very special and memorable. China Weighs Sale of TikTok US to Elon Musk as a Possible Option
As reported by Bloomberg, Chinese officials are evaluating a potential option involving Elon Musk acquiring TikTok’s US operations. This is of course if the company fails to fend off a controversial ban. Beijing officials strongly prefer that TikTok remains under the ownership of parent ByteDance Ltd., and the company is contesting the impending ban with an appeal to the US Supreme Court. However, the justices signaled during arguments on Jan. 10 that they are likely to uphold the law. Senior Chinese officials had already begun to debate contingency plans for TikTok as part of an expansive discussion on how to work with Donald Trump’s administration, one of which involves Musk. With more than 170 million users in the US, TikTok could bolster X’s efforts to attract advertisers. Musk also founded a separate artificial intelligence company, xAI, that could benefit from the huge amounts of data generated from TikTok. TikTok’s US operations could be valued at around $40 billion to $50 billion, Bloomberg Intelligence analysts Mandeep Singh and Damian Reimertz estimated last year. That’s a substantial sum even for the world’s richest person. It’s not clear how Musk could pull off such a transaction, whether it would require the sale of other holdings, or whether the US government would approve. He paid $44 billion for Twitter in 2022. There have also been rumors that Mr.Beast and some billionaires are interested in purchasing TikTok. Boiler Room Acquired by Superstruct Entertainment as DICE Refocuses Strategy
European live music powerhouse Superstruct Entertainment has reportedly acquired Boiler Room, the iconic electronic music livestream platform, from UK-based ticketing company DICE. The move signals a shift in DICE’s strategic priorities and a new chapter for Boiler Room under Superstruct’s expansive festival and live music umbrella. DICE originally acquired Boiler Room in 2021 after a $122 million funding round and has since secured over $200 million. News of the ticketing company's divestment from the brand comes in the wake of a Bloomberg newsletter that claimed its valuation could reach "hundreds of millions of dollars." Boiler Room, which has streamed events across 120 markets and amassed over a billion views online, will reportedly maintain its leadership team and distinct identity under Superstruct. "As we turn 15 and enter our next stage of growth, we’re excited to be partnering with Superstruct for this chapter," Boiler Room founder Blaise Bellville said. "We feel in good company with their roster of brands, they offer us new opportunities to grow, whilst understanding the importance of staying true to the authenticity that, at its core, is what makes Boiler Room special." For Superstruct, the acquisition follows its own buyout by private-equity giant KKR in a €1.3 billion deal last year. The deal underscores the company's ambitions to expand its influence in electronic music culture by leveraging Boiler Room's community-driven ethos. "We are proud to welcome the talented team at Boiler Room, who have managed to consistently grow the platform over the last 15 years whilst maintaining a distinct cultural approach," added Superstruct CEO Roderik Schlösser. "This partnership perfectly aligns with Superstruct’s mission to celebrate and amplify cultures through creativity, collaboration, and live entertainment. Boiler Room is in the best position it has ever been and we are excited to support them in their promising future ahead." Anyma Gives Rare Interview to Push Back on Nepotism Allegations
In a rare and revealing interview with Variety, Matteo Milleri—known as Anyma—offered deep insights into his creative process, the groundbreaking Sphere residency, and what lies ahead for his project. Blending technology with music, Anyma’s work transcends traditional music performances, creating fully immersive, multi-sensory experiences. Speaking just a week before the debut of his End of Genesys residency at Las Vegas’ Sphere, Milleri shared his meticulous creative process. From his minimalist Los Angeles home, he revealed running around 20 VR visuals tests with his team, perfecting elements like robotic cello arms and a quantum computer replica. “The final piece is called Human Now, and basically Eva”—the AI character at the center of Anyma’s performances—“is going to turn human to close the circle. But will it work? Is she human?” he mused. A Visionary Experience Anyma’s performances are renowned for their immersive quality, blending state-of-the-art visuals with melodic techno soundscapes. Collaborating with visual artists and utilizing technologies like virtual reality (VR) and extended reality (XR), Milleri creates multisensory experiences that blur the lines between the physical and digital realms. “I started this project basically to explore possibilities beyond what’s physical. But I never had in mind to have it be dissociative, like in a VR. It was more about extended reality,” he says. The residency, initially scheduled for six nights, was extended to eight due to high demand, with six of the eight shows selling out within 24 hours. Over 130,000 tickets have been sold, underscoring the significant interest in Anyma’s innovative approach to live electronic music. Fan-captured clips of the Sphere shows dominated social media over the holidays, amplifying the residency’s impact. The performances marked the culmination of Milleri’s Genesys era, powered by two albums released since 2023. A third album is planned to close this chapter, with new concepts on quantum computing and multiverses—introduced to Milleri by Grimes—already influencing his next steps. “This arrived to a point of saturation,” he admitted. “When ideas get recycled, I’m the first to think, what’s next? I want to move forward. But I want to give it a very glorified ending.” The Anyma project began in 2021 as a personal exploration, with Milleri initially self-funding his work. Overcoming skepticism and financial challenges, he released Genesys in 2023 and grew his platform through viral remixes and global shows. Yet, the Sphere represented a culmination of his efforts. “This is the pivotal moment,” he reflected. “It goes further than what you expect sometimes.” Despite his success, Milleri addressed misconceptions about his rise, particularly criticism suggesting nepotism. One of the reasons Milleri agreed to an interview was to set the record straight. “People don’t know the story of me. I think it happens with a lot of big artists, like they popped up out of nowhere,” he says. “But actually, no, it’s four or five years of grinding, and for me 15 years. I have not stumbled into this. It’s all been focusing to one pivotal moment, which I think for me now is this. It goes further than what you expect sometimes.” Every dollar earned has gone back into his art, he explained, noting that even a concert film of the Sphere residency would have to be self-funded. People have been quick to claim that Milleri’s success comes from his father who this year became CEO of eyewear company EssilorLuxottica, has been funneling money into his project. “The guy got his dad to pay for all his projects.’ Blah blah blah. Like, look, I don’t know if that’s what you want to be saying around because you’re just going to be telling some kid he has a dream that he can’t do it because he’s broke, because you don’t know what happened here but this is what I do. I think I do it at a very high level and dedicated my life to it.” Technological Integration The Las Vegas Sphere, known for its advanced technological capabilities, provides an ideal setting for Anyma’s performances. The venue features a 160,000-square-foot LED screen that delivers a fully immersive viewing experience, complemented by a state-of-the-art sound system. This infrastructure allows Anyma to bring his concepts to life in ways that were previously not possible, creating an environment where technology and art coexist seamlessly. The residency presented a “cybernetic opera” divided into four acts—Genesys, Humana, End of Genesys, and Quantum. These acts explore the integration of human and machine, set against stunning visuals and live performances with collaborators such as FKA Twigs, Grimes, and Ellie Goulding. Genesys III Anyma’s is set to close the Genesys chapter with a third album, Genesys III. A culmination of years of actualizing imagination. Will Eva become human?
