From the studios of Apl.de.Ap, one third of iconic supergroup Black Eyed Peas, comes new single ‘I Wish’, out now on all global streaming services via Fankee. A delicate, beautiful tale of regret and lost love, Apl’s reflective topline floats across shimmering guitars, plucked strings and gently rolling percussion. Airy and light, ‘I Wish’ is indicative of Apl’s personal music style, produced by long-time artistic collaborators Edgar Sino (Artek606) and Jamir Garcia, who sadly passed before the song was released. Speaking about the single and his friend, Apl said, “It’s a fun song that talks about something that we’ve all felt at some time or another. You know they’re not the right one but, still, you wish. Miss you, Jamir.” Working with Fankee’s unique release proposition, Apl has unlocked a quarter of the single’s master rights for fans who want to acquire splits and become co-producers on the single, and a further 50 splits for fans who create the most engaging social media content using the track. The single marks the beginning of a huge year for the Filipino star. As well as a major run of new solo music and his usual stacked global tour diary performing with fellow Black Eyed Peas Will.i.am and Taboo, Apl will also announce several key artistic and philanthropic endeavours outside of music. From farming and agriculture to fashion and art, Apl’s growing influence as an ambassador and a voice for Filipino culture will become increasingly prevalent as 2025 unfolds.

If you’re a fan of the Pet Shop Boys, you’ll especially want to check out the collaboration between Swedish producer Sund and British singer James Knight$. This blend makes the track feel both timeless and fresh, captivating listeners in a unique way. “I die for this love” presents a poignant exploration of unrequited love, capturing the complex emotions that arise from such longing. It delves into the intricacies of love, revealing feelings of confusion, heart-wrenching anguish, and deep despair. Through vivid imagery, the work highlights the bittersweet beauty of unreciprocated affection. Above all illustrating how it can leave a lasting impact on the heart. [GrooveCartel] Beatport Expands Genre Offerings
Beatport, the world’s biggest store for DJs, producers, and music fans, keeps improving its genre organization. They’ve added Ambient/Experimental as a new genre on its own and changed Downtempo to be its own category, different from Organic House. These features show how immersive, atmospheric soundscapes and slow-groove rhythms are becoming more popular in electronic music. They also give artists a better way to show off their work. Electronic music is always changing, and Ambient/Experimental and Downtempo have become important parts of the ecosystem. These genres give artists a place to really explore sound and give listeners experiences that are immersive and push the limits. We’re making it easy for fans to find these sounds and for artists to connect with their fans by giving them their own pages. – Raphael Pujol, Vice President of Global Curation at The Beatport Group Ambient & Experimental music is music that puts mood and texture ahead of standard melodies and rhythms. Ambient music uses slow-evolving, simple compositions to make noises that are immersive, while experimental music uses abstract textures and rhythms that aren’t normally used in music to push the limits of what is possible. Warp Records, Kompakt, Mille Plateaux, Kranky, Erased Tapes, NOTON, and Music from Memory are some of the biggest labels in this movement. Artists like Aphex Twin, Max Richter, Tim Hecker, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Autechre, and Kali Malone are also very important to it. Downtempo music is all about groove and reflection. Downtempo music has a lot of different sounds, from the smooth, natural sounds of Balearic and Lo-Fi to the lively, upbeat sounds of Trip-Hop and Chillout. It can be played on dance floors and in quiet rooms. This sound has been supported by well-known labels like Wonderwheel Recordings, Sol Selectas, Cosmic Awakenings, and Shika Shika. Important acts such as Chancha Via Circuito, El Búho, Kermesse, Rodrigo Gallardo, and Riyoon are still moving the genre forward. Following up on their first release on The Moment, Belgian artist Samm gives “All The Love” a remix treatment. This cut was made by Everything Is Art and label heads WhoMadeWho. It has been melting hearts all over the world as a key part of WhoMadeWho sets lately. It was the best way to start The Moment. Also, you may be interested in our interview with Belgian talent Samm. Here is Samm’s remix. Samm has been making a name for himself by putting out a lot of music that is a mix of indie dance, afro house, and other styles. Together with Ajna, he owns Magnifik Records and has built a successful record label, sound system, and event series in his home country of Belgium. He has played at Tomorrowland and Pacha Ibiza, among other places in Europe, and his musical credits include the EP “Does It Matter.” A dreamy atmosphere is created by Samm’s new version of “All The Love,” which features a funky drum arrangement, strings that stir up the mood, and powerful synth stabs. The mix of rough and smooth makes the whole thing very interesting, and the voices take on a haunting quality. The sad breakdown comes before a strong start to the second half of the song, which keeps the mesmerizing balance between light and dark. The best performance from one of Antwerp’s best. [EDM.com] New Fund Launched to Combat Hearing Loss in the Music Industry
Sweet Relief Musicians Fund has partnered with Sweetwater to launch a new initiative aimed at tackling one of the most prominent health crises facing the music industry today: noise-induced hearing loss. Unveiled this week, the Hearing Health Fund provides musicians and music industry professionals with free hearing screenings and high-fidelity earplugs in an effort to curb the chronic issue, which impacts thousands each year. According to the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, approximately 40% of musicians and music industry workers experience noise-induced hearing loss. The risk is particularly acute for live performers, audio engineers and venue staff, many of whom operate in environments that regularly exceed safe decibel levels. The issue, however, extends to the broader music community as well. A 2023 EDM.com poll found that nearly 50% of music festival attendees do not wear ear protection, underscoring a wider lack of adherence to best practices at live events. The Hearing Health Fund will provide a free three-part hearing screening administered by certified audiologists. In addition to a review of results and education around hearing preservation, recipients will receive Etymotic ER-20XS High Fidelity Earplugs, designed to protect hearing without compromising the listening experience. "Screening is essential to protecting musicians from hearing loss because once the damage is done, there’s no going back to 'normal,'" said Dr. Todd Page, Sweetwater’s in-house physician. "It’s heartbreaking telling a fellow musician their tinnitus isn’t fixable; that it’s too late to reverse it, and all they can do is adapt and try to keep it from progressing." Sweetwater, best known as one of the world's largest online retailers of musical instruments and gear, also provides immersive sound experiences for venues and stadiums across the country. The company’s investment in the fund reflects a broader mission to support not only sound quality, but also the well-being of those who create it. The Hearing Health Fund is available now through Sweet Relief Musicians Fund. Full details can be found on the organization's official website.

[EDM.com] Mysterious Pills Spotted at Miami Music Week Spark Theories About "GTA VI" Release
As if Miami Music Week wasn’t chaotic enough, a new Grand Theft Auto VI plot twist emerged that sent both ravers and Redditors into a collective frenzy: mysterious white pills with "VI" stamped on one side and "10.10.25" on the other. The pills were reportedly found outside a downtown nightclub. Naturally, the internet did what it does best, spiraling into speculation that Rockstar Games was tantalizingly teasing the release date of Grand Theft Auto VI with… designer drugs? Images of the pills were first posted by Reddit user Lnce_Vnce, who claimed he found them "in a tiny sandwich bag during [his] final dance of the week," which might be the most Miami Music Week sentence ever constructed. GTA diehards immediately connected the dots (and Roman numerals), pointing out the striking resemblance to the branding of the game's long-awaited return to Vice City. The date lines up suspiciously well with previous speculation about the game's release. Rockstar Games has stayed completely silent, but that hasn’t stopped social media from running wild with theories. Some think it's a deliberate marketing stunt while others believe a drug supplier simply wanted to go viral during festival season. However, it remains unclear what was actually in the pill and whether or not it’s related to GTA VI at all. Until we get official word from Rockstar, the best we can say is this: We got branded GTA 6 pills before we got GTA 6.

[EDM.com] Mind-Bending Philosophy and Bass Converge in Subtronics' New EP, "Fibonacci Part 1: Oblivion"
Subtronics has once again cracked open the bass music multiverse again. The dubstep superstar is peering through the lens of mathematical wonder after last year's release of his conceptual TESSERACT album. Out now via his own Cyclops Recordings imprint, it’s a sonic spectacle that balances brute-force energy with cerebral ambition, affirming Subtronics’ reputation as one of electronic music's most relentlessly inventive minds. The eight-track project arrives on the heels of Subtronics' performance on the storied Mainstage of Miami's Ultra Music Festival, where he first teased its release to a sea of eager fans. And while it's clearly engineered for live impact, it also carries the signature conceptual depth fans have come to expect from the producer who brought us FRACTALS. Drawing inspiration from the Fibonacci sequence and the golden ratio—natural mathematical patterns that symbolize balance, growth and complexity—this release is a meticulous journey. As Subtronics himself puts it, the project is about "how all of reality, in its complexity and grandeur, originates from nature and the fundamental laws of the universe." That depth resonates not just in its themes, but also in its intricate sound design and fearless genre-hopping. The journey opens cinematically with "Oblivion," where a swelling orchestral intro builds tension before a voice warns, "Brace yourselves as we enter the portal into the Tesseract"—a callback to 2024's album of the same name. What follows is an earth-shattering dubstep drop loaded with interstellar textures and seismic low-end pressure that only Subtronics could deliver. From there, he refuses to let up. "Mothclaws" switches the tempo and functions as a compelling sound design showcase, opening with a pulsing beat before exploding into a flurry of dubstep growls and sci-fi-inspired glitches. The EP's lead single, "Lock In" featuring Wooli, is an instant standout. A chaotic, Mario Kart-inspired anthem, the track barrels forward with genre-defying madness, combining dubstep, riddim and techno influences into a relentless auditory blitz. Equal parts whimsical and destructive, it marks a standout entry in the artists' collaborative catalog that includes fan-favorites "Melt Ur Brain" and "Hallelujah." Closing out the album's first installment is "Final Breath" with A Little Sound, a haunting, vocal-driven cut that culminates cathartically in drum & bass territory. It wraps the EP on a cinematic note, adding even more depth to an already multidimensional creation. With an insatiable appetite for risk-taking that yields incredibly unique productions. Subtronics once again proves why he’s a singular force in electronic music. As we await Part 2, one thing is clear: this is only the beginning of a brilliantly complex equation. The driving rhythm, characterized by a steady four-on-the-floor kick and shimmering synth textures, provides a solid foundation without overpowering Diamond’s iconic vocals. What’s truly impressive is how seamlessly the remix integrates the original elements. Diamond’s voice, instantly recognizable and universally beloved, retains its power and emotional resonance. Two Friends allows the raw emotion of the performance to shine. The result is a perfect balance: the familiarity of the original, enhanced by a fresh, contemporary sonic palette. [EDM.com] Emotional Depth Meets Melodic Precision in Kaskade and Lipless' "State Of Mind": Listen
Kaskade and Lipless have reunited for a stunning progressive house track, "State Of Mind," out now via Colorize. The producers' creative history traces back over a decade to an unlikely origin story: a teenage Lipless cold-messaging Kaskade on MySpace with demo submissions. The Chicago-born dance music icon replied, and a working relationship quietly took shape. By 2014, Kaskade helped Lipless relocate to Los Angeles, where the two went on to release a Grammy-nominated remix of RY X’s "Only" followed by a string of high-profile collaborations, including several contributions to the producer's Kx5 project alongside deadmau5. Now, nearly 10 years after their first major release together, "State Of Mind" serves as a reflection of their shared growth, both artistically and personally. Poppy Baskcomb's vocals lead "State of Mind" into a gentle swell as soft arpeggios flutter through the mix, anchored by shimmering synths. The production from Kaskade and Lipless beautifullu unfolds like a story rather than a formula, lingering and letting the emotion breathe. Rooted in personal growth, it's the kind of track that's suitable for a late-night drive or the warm light of a sunrise set. For Lipless, it arrived at a crucial juncture. "I was coming out of a tough year and working to get to a better place mentally and physically," he said. "When I heard the vocal demo, it felt like it was meant to find me." [EDM.com] Listen to borne's High-Voltage Deadbeats Track, "Shake It Off"
Red-hot Canadian producer borne is back with a new Deadbeats single, "Shake It Off." The track crackles with whirring bass, compelling us to surrender to borne's masterful production style. It's impossible to resist getting lost in its supercharged soundscapes, pulling us headfirst into a gritty sound that's becoming his signature. In October, borne told EDM.com that "trying to create a story and focus on the production itself is the most important part" of making impactful music. That rings true in his latest release, a cathartic burst of dubstep energy. "I made 'Shake It Off' while trying to incorporate the classic dubstep sound with my drum work and groove," borne tells us. "It started as a track highly focused on vocals. However, when the bass came in, it became the new main sound that grabbed the listener's attention." [EDM.com] Two Friends Turn "Sweet Caroline" From Ballpark Belter to Festival Fire-Starter: Listen
It’s not every day that a barroom anthem makes its way to the mainstage, but Two Friends have never played by the rules of genre or generation. The latest release from the duo finds them flipping Neil Diamond's tried-and-true stadium anthem "Sweet Caroline" into a festival-ready thriller. The official remix transforms Diamond's singalong staple for today's dancefloors, breathing new life into his cherished 1969 classic. It marks a new creative summit for Two Friends, whose meteoric rise from SoundCloud bootleggers to mainstage fixtures has been powered by their instinct for nostalgia and reinvention. Long revered for their ability to infuse mainstream pop sensibilities with dancefloor heat, the "Big Bootie Mix" maestros approached their remix with reverence. The original's iconic vocals remain front and center but now glide over gated synths, buoyant basslines and a pulsating house groove. But the track’s crowning moment might just be its surprise finale, where a horn-laced coda erupts in the closing moments like fireworks at the end of a championship game, driving home its crossover ambitions. "An official dance remix of 'Sweet Caroline' has been a long-standing idea," said Katie Diamond, Neil Diamond’s manager. "The new Two Friends version both honors the song’s legacy while infusing it with an electrifying new energy." Listen to Two Friends' new remix of "Sweet Caroline" on streaming services here. [EDM.com] PLS&TY and Richard Walters Reach for the Stars in Dreamlike House Track, "Constellations"
PLS&TY has taken a reflective turn with his latest single, "Constellations," a dreamy collaboration with UK singer-songwriter Richard Walters. The track marks a notable moment in the producer's journey, showcasing a deeper, more atmospheric side to his sound. From the outset, "Constellations" eases us into a world of ambient textures and gently unfolding melodies as Walters' evocative vocals glide over a bed of soft, cinematic pads. As it progresses, the tempo gradually picks up, infusing its arrangement with an uplifting energy while preserving its spellbinding atmosphere. Balancing introspective storytelling with accessible electronic production, the track feels spacious and intentional, creating a sense of wonder and optimism. "Constellations" follows the momentum of PLS&TY’s recent signing with Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak. It's his second single following March's release of "Leave The Light On." Listen to "Constellations" below. [EDM.com] Wakyin and Vibarco's "Matador" Conquers the Dancefloor With Bullfighter Grace and Latin Fire
The question of whether or not electronic music can sustain cultural identity finds its answer in "Matador," a sultry new single from Wakyin and Vibarco. Out now via Insomniac Records, the track glides with purpose, marrying house music's metronomic heartbeat with the passionate inflections of Latin musical tradition. What really distinguishes it, however, is its refusal to dilute either influence. Wakyin, the EDM.com Class of 2025, brings his golden touch through radiant production inspired by his Dominican and Puerto Rican roots. Colombian musician Vibarco, a three-time ASCAP award-winning songwriter who has worked with Maluma, Anitta and Shakira, infuses the arrangement with subtle flourishes. Wakyin's production maintains a hypnotic minimalism while its melodic elements dance with the sensuality of a moonlit Cartagena evening. The song operates like a skilled matador—precise and calculated, but imbued with dramatic crescendos that build with the tension of a bullfighter's final moments before the kill. "I found this vocal and just knew I had to flip it," Wakyin said. "It was a bit different before with a slower tempo, but I spiced it up a little, and I love the final product. Or as the streets say, "En la Calle le dicen el matador." Listen to "Matador" below and find the new single on streaming platforms here. [EDM.com] Alesso and Becky Hill Channel Trance Influences in New Dance Anthem, "Surrender"
Few tracks hit like a flashback and a future classic in one breath, but Alesso and Becky Hill's "Surrender" does both. Clocking in at 140 BPM, the track draws on the pulse of early-2000s trance while charging forward with the cinematic intensity of modern progressive house. Out now via Capitol Records, "Surrender" arrives fresh off its live debut at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, where Alesso previewed the track to a roaring mainstage crowd. It's a full-circle moment for the duo, who previously linked on Alesso's hit "Words," co-written by Hill. This time, her voice is front and center, commanding and crystalline. Alesso builds the arrangement around a foundation of ascending synths and a galloping rhythm section. It’s a production designed for scale, but it never loses its emotional core. "I’m so excited for ‘Surrender’ to be out in the world," Hill said in a press release shared with EDM.com. “It’s great to work with Alesso on the record which blends emotional lyrics with those nostalgic trance influences. It’s a sound that takes me back, but also still feels so fresh and exciting." Alesso is now readying the return of his Body Hi alias alongside Gorgon City at Coachella's Quasar stage during the festival's second weekend. [EDM.com] HI-LO and Sarah de Warren Unite for Hypnotic Single, "Born To Love"
HI-LO and Sarah de Warren have joined forces for a new collaboration, "Born To Love," out today via the former's HILOMATIK imprint. The track made its first appearance during the label’s Miami Music Week showcase at Wynwood Marketplace, where the pair performed it live. Pairing HI-LO's signature, hard-hitting techno production with an emotive topline from de Warren, it delivers a dynamic mix of intensity and atmosphere. HI-LO's production builds gradually beneath the latter's captivating vocal performance, creating a tension that erupts at the drop without losing its melodic edge. Keeping us entranced from start to finish, its pulsing rhythm and fluid energy practically demand movement. One of dance music's most in-demand collaborators, de Warren said she'd been itching to collaborate with HI-LO, the techno alias of Dutch EDM superstar Oliver Heldens before they had "an absolute banger on our hands." "I was driving home after a show one night and thinking about how dance music has always felt so natural to me, like part of my DNA," said de Warren. "I was making electronic music in my bedroom way before I was old enough to go to a rave or a club. It’s like I was born to make this music and play it for people who feel the same way, that's why the dance community always feels like family. So, as I was driving, these lyrics just flowed off my tongue, and I voice-noted them and recorded them as soon as I got home." The release lands ahead of HI-LO’s international tour run, starting with RESISTANCE events in Buenos Aires and Lima this month. He’ll then return to Europe for festival performances at Airbeat One, A State of Trance London and Tomorrowland, among others. You can find "Born To Love" on streaming platforms here.
