Label Spotlight: Duckplates
Hi, who are you? Duckworthsound: My name is Luke, better known as Duckworthsound. Dread MC: I’m Mikel, better known as Dread MC. What’s your ethos? D MC: Making authentic underground bass bangers. D: We want to break down any boundaries people have when it comes to multi-genre sets with the way we play. We’re all about bringing non stop energy and good vibes that everyone can enjoy. Tell us your origin story? D MC: We were already doing shows together and we’ve always chatted about our deep love for all things bass and dance music. We’ve always tried to showcase different styles and genres through our sets and productions. Then we started thinking about having an imprint for ourselves D: We had been creating so many different sounding tunes, we wanted to create a label that stood for that, so we spent 2023 developing the idea, working with the team at Cygnus. We had the first tunes we wanted to put out and then – we launched Duckplates. Tell us about your local scene… D MC: I’m based in Bristol, from Gloucester – the local scene out here is amazing, for collaborating, networking and all the shows that happen are wicked. D: I’m based just out of London, so ever since I was able to I’ve always been going into London for any and all shows that I could. Do you have a specific sound or vibe? D MC: We don’t have a specific sound, it’s a spectrum of bass music. We’re consistent with the vibe, it’s always high energy bass tracks. D: It comes from our love for all types of bass music. I’ve always loved a big mix of genres and sounds, I want people to be able to see that in my music and in the sound Duckplates does. Do you have a regular artist roster – who can we see releasing with you? D MC: It started as just an imprint for ourselves, we only started in March 2024, since then we’ve already grown from our own releases and we’ve now had 12 artists join us on the label through features and mainly the remixes. D: Currently from the remixes we’re working with some amazing artists who are all coming up and deserving to be heard – 1997, Ghostfxce, Six28, Neumonic, AYCH, SH?M, Valdeez, Coben, Spence, Chuck Shadow – all these artists on the remix pack are dope and brought a real unique sound. Tell us about your A&R process… D: A lot of them I met through my discord community which has been a major key for finding new talent. I also met some artists through shows I’ve played and built connections with. D MC: We don’t take submissions on email or direct right now, currently we’re using the discord for submissions through a monthly demo drop community call, we hope to get some of these artists on board one day. It’s been great to already have artist’s involved with label through the discord. What makes you different from other labels? D MC: It’s too early to say right now, we’re new to this, we’re not watching any other labels or trying to compete, we’re just doing what we want to do. D: Couldn’t have said it better myself honestly- I don’t see a reason to compare ourselves to any other labels big or small, whether that be in similarities or in how to be totally different. We’re going to keep doing things our way and see where it takes us. What does it take to run a bass music label in 2025? D MC: A lot of time, effort and patience in all honesty. Good communication between us two, regularly knowing what we’re both doing. We’re growing a small team around the both of us who are great in helping out now also. D: Money? Lots of that would be great, doesn’t mean we’ll be any better but I’m sure it’d make things easier. All jokes aside – lots of planning, lots of time to plan out our months in advance to make things work – alongside a couple people Hannah and Jaden who have been great help, also just want to say Cygnus being very helpful and always on hand to support us. What have you got coming up we should look out for? D: 2025 is about continuing the growth for us, we have so much music lined up from ourselves for the label, plus our first original releases with other artists. We’re planning to do showcase sets and label nights across the UK and maybe even around the world. On Feb 28th we have a Duckplates showcase night in LA for our American artists Neumonic and Chuck Shadow, so it’s really amazing to already be pushing our label name out there already. We’ll also be launching Duckplates free – which is where we’ll be supporting artists bootlegs and flips as a free download to be streamed Soundcloud or YouTube to help up and coming artist grow and gain more followers.

Quicche Unveils “Red Eyes” on R&S Records: A Journey into Ambient Electronic Sound
Quicche unveils “Red Eyes,” the latest indietronica release and third single from his forthcoming debut album, “Frisia.” The single continues to heighten anticipation for his album, showcasing Quicche’s signature fusion of electronic textures and indie-driven melodies. With its dynamic soundscape and innovative production, “Red Eyes” offers a compelling preview into the sonic richness and artistic vision that listeners can expect from this evolving project. Breaking away from the album’s folk-inspired roots, “Red Eyes” emerges as a dynamic reinvention infused with danceable garage rock influences. Grünhäuser, the creative force behind the track, crafted the song during a month-long retreat in Northern Germany. Immersed in self-imposed isolation with limited equipment and minimal human contact, he delved deep into the vast potential of his musical soundscape, pushing the boundaries of his creative expression. Quicche’s sound is a rich tapestry woven from experimental indie, folktronica, shoegaze, and ambient music. “Red Eyes” amplifies these eclectic influences, elevated by masterful production that highlights his artistry. The track fluently balances tender vocals with a detailed electronic edge, whilst featuring traditional production and live instrumentation that results in a captivating sonic experience. Quicche Comments “Lyrically, Red Eyes is a direct challenge to anyone who has a bad influence on you. Writing the text felt very liberating, as if it had opened a valve that had been under pressure for a long time.” As listeners anticipate this next release, Quicche’s previous two singles on the legendary Belgian imprint have already set a compelling tone for his debut album. With “Frisia” on the summer horizon, Quicche is already ascending to new heights, solidifying his place as a seasoned and visionary artist that stands out from the masses. Quicche’s “Red Eyes” is set for release on R&S Records on February 14, 2025, and will be available on all major digital platforms. Pre Order: https://fanlink.tv/red_eyes

Renzo Zong Talks Music Memories, His Sound, Challenging Aspects & More
Renzo Zong is a Peruvian DJ and Producer who has been crafting a unique space for himself in the electronic music world. Blending traditional Peruvian sounds with Tribal Beats and psychedelic influences, his music is a celebration of his heritage while embracing the possibilities of modern production. From local performances to international tours, Renzo has been steadily building a reputation for creating deeply immersive and distinctive soundscapes. We caught up with Renzo Zong to talk about his roots, his creative process, and how his music connects past and present. Hi Renzo Zong, how are you? Hey guys, I’m very good, very excited about this interview Can you tell us about your earliest memories with music and what sparked your interest in becoming a DJ and Producer? I was at a party and I saw a friend of mine putting CDs in a machine, I went over to ask him what he was doing. He said: “I’m playing music, I’m a DJ!” that was more than 10 years ago! Growing up, who were some of your biggest musical influences, and how have they shaped the artist you are today? From my mother’s belly, I’ve been listening to Carlos Santana! He combines Latin music with rock, marvelous! His music is like a meditative, deeply psychedelic journey that offers a bit of everything. What was the moment when you realised that music could be more than just a passion – that it could be your career? When I was able to travel to London to play at a festival. There was a person who listened to my music on Spotify and told me they produced a festival in London, and they invited me to go and play! It was a beautiful thing, I didn’t have a booking agency or anything, so it was like an arrow to the heart. Every artist has a unique sound – how would you describe yours, and what do you want listeners to feel when they hear your music? I come from a country, with a lot of cultural richness, I come with all that background ready to shake the world. I’d like people to feel what I feel when I create music, I put a lot of soul and passion into it, and when people dance to my music, they always tell me that it feels different than anything else they have ever heard. Was there a particular track or project that marked a turning point in your career? If so, what was the story behind it? I collaborated in the elaboration of a mantra, with two other artists from Cuzco, this track led me to do my first tour in Europe ‘Shebrem’. What’s your creative process like in the studio? Do you start with a melody, a beat, or a certain mood you’re trying to capture? Sometimes I feel like a poet, there is always a story behind the songs I make, sometimes a prayer, sometimes a dedication, it can even be a message coming from beyond. I don’t have a specific order when I start, there is always a story to tell. As both a DJ and Producer, how do you balance crafting music for the studio versus creating high-energy sets for the dancefloor? When I’m creating music, I’m just another listener, who likes to feel emotions to what I’m listening to, who loves to dance, to move, to travel between spaces. What’s been the most challenging part of your journey as an artist so far, and how did you overcome it? I’m a father of two children, I have to balance a lot my family life, with my artistic life, I always learn something new. The Electronic Music world is vast – are there any specific subgenres or sounds you’d like to experiment with that you haven’t yet? I’d like to create some Drum and ass at some point, maybe some Progressive and Amapiano too. Lastly, what’s next for you? Are there any exciting projects, releases, or shows on the horizon that your fans should know about? In the last few months I have created over 10 songs, I’m more than ready and excited for everyone around the world to hear them. Talking to Renzo Zong reveals a thoughtful artist who sees music as both a personal journey and a way to connect with others. Whether he’s creating in the studio or performing on stage, Renzo brings a deep sense of purpose to his craft, honoring his cultural background while exploring new musical directions. As he looks ahead to upcoming releases and projects, Renzo’s passion for his art continues to shine through, don’t forget to follow him on social media to remain updated on his latest releases and upcoming projects. Don Diablo Introduces CONTROL ALT DΞLΞTΞ – His New Drum & Bass Side Project
CONTROL ALT DΞLΞTΞ has been introduced as the cutting-edge bass music alias of globally renowned producer and creative innovator, Don Diablo. He intends to channel his boundary-pushing vision into a raw and futuristic soundscape. All this while he continues to work on his highly anticipated 2025 Don Diablo artist album. Launched with a thunderous debut featuring UK grime icon P Money, CONTROL ALT DΞLΞTΞ will spawn a fresh chapter of high-tech music. Music which has been designed to shake the system and ignite the underground. CONTROL ALT DΞLΞTΞ’s debut single ‘Maniac‘ reimagines Michael Sembello‘s classic, blending iconic ’80s vibes with cutting-edge DnB production. The Visionary Don Don Diablo continues to be a visionary in the electronic music world. He is widely known for pushing the boundaries of genre-bending productions and delivering hit after hit. With his latest side project, he remains a leading force in both music and digital art. Its release kicks off Don’s incredible genre-expanding vision for 2025. With more drum & bass releases planned, it follows an incredible run of 2024 releases. These include collaborations with heavyweights such as Major Lazer, Jamiroquai and MK, with the latter still climbing on international dance charts. The Times Ahead Currently voted the world’s number 15 DJ on the prestigious DJ MAG Top 100, the sought-after producer has collaborated with and remixed a wide range of artists. These includes the likes of Dua Lipa, Justin Bieber, Gucci Mane, Ed Sheeran, Mark Ronson, Travis Barker, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Madonna, Ty Dolla $ign, The Chainsmokers, Coldplay and many more. Ever the perfectionist, the last couple of years have seen Don prepare his third studio album, FORΞVΞR. Taking on many forms since its inception, the album has been a labor of love for the perfectionistic Dutchman. It marks his ever-evolving sound and ability to approach new genres with familiarity. With my new alias CONTROL ALT DΞLΞTΞ I am exploring a more bass music-focused side of myself as a producer. I have been in the studio nonstop these last few years, and this creative switch-up has given me so many new insights and ideas. I have been making bass music most of my life, but at the start of 2025, the timing feels perfect to launch this new project. Maniac by Michael Sembello has always been one of my favorite songs growing up as a kid. It’s one of those timeless 80ies tracks that’s just pure adrenaline and emotion – it’s cinematic, intense, and unapologetically bold. The driving rhythm and iconic synth lines feel like they were destined to be reimagined in a drum & bass tune, where high-energy beats meet raw nostalgia. The perfect canvas to merge the past with the future. DON DIABLO Don has hosted his hugely popular Hexagon radio show for over eight years. Hexagon is currently broadcast in over 68 countries to millions of listeners. His HEXAGON record label has given him the perfect platform to champion new talent. The label remains one of the most influential imprints in the electronic music sphere. The post Don Diablo Introduces CONTROL ALT DΞLΞTΞ – His New Drum & Bass Side Project appeared first on EDMTunes.

Giuseppe Ottaviani Binds Trance and Melodic Techno Under New Alias, OTTAGON
After debuting his latest groundbreaking live setup at the 2024 Dreamstate SoCal festival, Giuseppe Ottaviani has announced a new alias to complement the innovative project. Dubbed OTTAGON, the alias will be used as a vessel to produce a new sound for the Italian trance star. Blending the symbiotic worlds of trance and melodic techno, Ottaviani's new venture is named after his ambitious live show, which launched last November at Insomniac's all-trance festival. The cutting-edge production, which comprises eight Novation MIDI keyboards arranged in an octagon, positioned Ottaviani at the center of the action. The show premiered to a sea of thousands on the main stage of Dreamstate and served as an opportunity to road-test tracks from his upcoming album. Expected to drop in April, the album will be preceded by a string of singles, the first of which has already been released via Armada. "Find You" establishes the unique soundscape we can expect from OTTAGON. The track leans on a brooding vocal accompanied by heavy basslines and pristine synths, carefully blending the two genres. Ottaviani is known to be a creative risk-taker onstage, having already crafted three separate live productions in the past: Live!, Live 2.0 and Live 3.0, respectively. Additionally, his stint as a member of NU NRG in the early aughts showcases the diverse soundscapes he's capable of producing. "OTTAGON represents a new direction for me—one that allows me to explore deeper connections between trance and melodic techno," Ottaviani said in a statement. "It’s about taking risks, challenging myself, and offering fans something fresh and exciting." OTTAGON is set to return this April at Dreamstate Europe in Poland.
