Interview: Alphaville Drops Sound Like A Melody (Luca Belluco Remix)
Out Now! Stream | Download | Follow In this mesmerizing rework of an 80s classic, Luca Belluco transports us into his unique Melodic Techno universe. His remix of “Sound Like a Melody” by Alphaville perfectly blends the nostalgic essence of the original with deep, captivating electronic sounds. With immersive basslines, atmospheric textures, and a gradual, evolving buildup, Belluco captures the emotion of the track while infusing it with a hypnotic modern twist. The iconic vocals of Alphaville seamlessly merge with powerful rhythms and shimmering arpeggios, paying tribute to the original while elevating it to new, ethereal dimensions. Getting To Know Alphaville What inspired you to remix this particular Alphaville track? I was lulled by music from the 80s like Alphaville, Beegees, Claude Francois. I wanted to tackle this piece for different reasons, the first is that it’s a piece that my mother loves so a little nod to her But also, there are not many remixes on this group, recently Guetta remixed forever young which is the most popular. How did your musical journey begin? I started when I was 15, it was revelatory for me! It saved me from bullying at school and allowed me to create connections with people! As soon as I understood that I fell addicted to music and especially DJing, seeing people dancing, having fun, it’s total fun! Music is a journey that we transmit when we mix, if the audience doesn’t dance it’s because they haven’t caught on to your universe or you’re doing it wrong Anyway, it makes me happy and it’s great! Which artists influenced your melodic techno style? I’m Influenced by Zafrir , Kevin de Vries , Massano , Tale Of Us. Everybody has a unique style and is awesome ! What was your approach to balancing the original’s nostalgia with modern elements? I think it’s important to remix groups or artists from the 80s, it brings freshness to the group and the style! Alphaville for me was obvious! A group that worked well and still works! Hope this remix pleases a lot of people Could you describe your studio setup/key equipment used? Yes sure ! I Use Ableton 12 , Nexus , VPS Avenger , Sylenth , TAQSIM , Wave Audio , Fabfilter Pro What was the biggest challenge in reworking such an iconic track? Find what works with the elements of the original song, the voice in this case! it works very well The post Interview: Alphaville Drops Sound Like A Melody (Luca Belluco Remix) appeared first on Electric Mode.

EDMTunes Chats with Nicole Moudaber on Groove Cruise 2025
We just disembarked from Groove Cruise 2025 on the gorgeous Allure of the Seas. While we were there, we had a chance to catch up with the Queen of techno, Nicole Moudaber. Nicole has been highly anticipated on this year’s outing and we chatted with her about her impressions, her sets onboard, and more. 1. I’m Scott with EDMTunes here with Nicole Moudaber on Groove Cruise. Thanks for chatting with us. How does it feel to be here? Nicole – It feels amazing, I am completely disconnected and I love it. The internet connection is pretty shaky, which means no Zoom calls, no emails. Just Me! And 6,700 people. 2. I understand you’ve been on a cruise event before but this is your first Groove Cruise, right? How do you feel that Groove Cruise compares to the other events you’ve done in the past? Nicole – Yes I have done other cruise events and I am very excited for my first ever Groove Cruise. I’ll find out how I feel tomorrow when I play my first set. Based on what I have seen, I am ready. The energy is high and I am looking forward to it. 3. We came from Miami yesterday during probably the strangest weather that Miami has seen in a generation. How was that experience for you? And tell us what sets you have planned for Groove Cruise. Nicole – God, I have been in Miami for a month now and all I was doing was calling the Gods, specifically the Sun God, and I got no reply until today. They have blessed us here on the Groove Cruise. Okay, on to the sets. On Sunday, I will perform a back-to-back melodic techno set with Layton Giordani. Tomorrow night, I have my In The Mood, we have Cristoph and Layton playing, followed by me from 3-5am at the Studio B Ice Rink. I am still unsure if I will be playing techno, because I want to keep it groovy and sexy. So I may just play my groovy tunes instead. I don’t feel being on a boat calls for a dark techno kind of set, so I’m keeping it light and sexy from the waist below kind of music. 4. That’s why it’s called the Groove Cruise, right? The cool thing about Groove Cruise is that it’s all about the unexpected, collabs, or back-to-backs or a DJ playing a set they normally wouldn’t anywhere else. What are some interesting collabs or back-to-backs that you can remember from the past or maybe one you are looking forward to? Nicole – There is a great collaboration with Jamie Jones coming this year and another one, with the trance legend Armin van Buuren I revere so much. We are working on so much, and two different end of the spectrum on styles. I love that, the challenge. Being a music lover, it can be anything but it’s got to be good at the end of the day. 5. Speaking of collaborations, I imagine you are planning for Music Week. And you’re no stranger to Music Week, you have worked with names like Carl Cox and others. Tell us about your past with Music Week and what you love about it. Nicole – Oh yeah! I have been coming to Music Week way before I became an artist. It’s a great vibe, but not what it used to be. It’s more about parties now, rather than the Winter Music Conference. Music Week is a fantastic time to throw parties, play with your peers and enjoy the sunshine. Hopefully, we will get the sunshine. Last year, my pool party got rained out. No more pool parties for me. 6. Back to the Groove Cruise – we are going to be hitting Labadee, Haiti tomorrow. Do you plan to go on the beach? And have you gotten to explore the ship yet, and any other stages and sets you’ve liked so far? Nicole – Definitely planning on hitting the beach to experience Labadee, as I have never been. I am going to check out house legend, Roger Sanchez. I was at dinner last night and saw him play, I want to check him out again. 7. Another fun thing about Groove Cruise is that all the artists mix and mingle with the attendees. Have you had any fun interactions with guests or anything like that? Nicole – Yeah all the time! They come and poke me and want a picture. They want to talk me and I love it. I think I am going to do the ping pong tournament on Sunday 3pm. I used to be pretty good, so let’s see if I’ve still got it. Thanks for all your time, hopefully, you will be at some of the sets today. Always a pleasure chatting with you Nicole. Rare Aston Martin Car Outfitted With Sleek Analog Synthesizer
In the summer of 2024, as the world buzzed about self-driving cars and AI-generated playlists, a 1985 Aston Martin Lagonda rolled into Barcelona’s Sónar+D festival with a different kind of intelligence. Its new party trick? A built-in synthesizer that transformed the car's leather-clad interior into a live music studio, blending the growl of a V8 engine with the warp and weft of analog synth waves. The rare Lagonda has always been a misfit aristocrat. Designed in the 1970s with a razor-sharp wedge profile and a spaceship dashboard of early digital screens, it was a car that screamed "future" in an era of boxy sedans. According to Designboom, Aston Martin had outfitted one for the Sultan of Oman with a VHS player, rear-seat TV and crystal bar—gadgets that felt downright sci-fi for the time. Decades later, Swiss strategist and electronic music producer Stephan Sigrist stumbled upon the rare artifact and envisioned it as his own canvas. The objective was to turn the Lagonda’s backseat into a playground for live music, where passengers could score their own road trip in real time. To realize his vision, Sigrist enlisted renowned Swedish designer Love Hultén, who is no stranger to surrealist music tech. For the Lagonda, he dismantled Roland’s Aira T-8 Beat Machine and S-1 Tweak Synth and rebuilt them into sleek, gunmetal-gray modules. Passengers can tweak basslines or layer synths over the engine's rumble. It's a far cry from the silent, sanitized cabins of modern EVs, and perhaps that’s the point. The project nods to the '70s and '80s, when car interiors were cluttered with chunky buttons and luxury meant excess rather hyper-minimalism. Check out images of the custom synth below. Pulse Events founder discusses newly expanded Spring Festival 2025 [Q&A]
Born in 2023 within the historic confines of The Great Hall at Avant Gardner in Brooklyn, NY, Spring Festival returns for its highly anticipated third installment. What began as a two-day music festival celebrating the Lunar New Year now spans a total of five show dates—January 30th through February 1st—followed by two freshly announced dates on February 7th and the 8th. Melodic powerhouse ILLENIUM, DJ DIESEL, DJ Snake, JVNA, Space Laces, and Audien, among others, will tend decks during the concert series’ opening weekend. The following week, Dutch DJ veteran Tiësto will headline back-to-back nights to close out Spring Festival 2025. Since its inception, Pulse Events, led by CEO Luffy Huang, has molded its reputation as a premiere Asian-American events company. Spring Festival aims to elevate attendees’ experience via authentic Chinese New Year celebrations, including traditional lion dancing, amidst a top-tier lineup of electronic music acts. With more than 15 years of experience in the global music industry, Huang’s vision to “to bridge the east and the west through a collective love of dance music” will undoubtedly ring true as fans from around the world celebrate the Lunar New Year beginning on January 30th. Looking ahead to Spring Festival 2025, Pulse Events’ Luffy Huang sat down with Dancing Astronaut to discuss the festival’s origins, Asian culture’s influence on electronic dance music, and more. Browse ticket options to Spring Festival 2025 here—and read the exclusive Q&A below. What ultimately inspired you to get into hosting/promoting dance music events? Luffy: “I’ve always had a passion for music and was a singer and TV host more than 15 years ago in China where I grew up. Music events are a bit different in Asia and it was always my dream to bring that to the US and produce a fusion experience. I’ve seen people of different cultures embrace the grand style of shows in Asia and realized this experience was missing in the US. It became my mission to put on events that exposed fans to the traditions and dance community culture in the East. I am proud that my shows include elements like Asian night markets and traditional decorations that can educate audiences while bringing top tier artists for them to enjoy.” Who was your first major booking? Luffy: “My first major booking in the US was the inaugural Spring Festival in 2023, when I did a two-day event at the Great Hall with Gryffin and KSHMR headlining. Both of these artists were fitting because Gryffin is half Asian and KSHMR is Indian-American, so we were able to represent the Asian community with these two mainstream talents!” How has Pulse Events evolved over the years? Luffy: “Pulse Events began with the Spring Festival, but we saw that fans of all backgrounds appreciated our events mixing culture with our favorite DJs. So, we started producing other shows, including the Winter Festival and S2O in New York, which is based on the Thai New Year tradition of spraying water for good luck. We’re now on our third annual Spring Festival, have done two Winter Festivas, and we’re preparing for the second S2O. We started with a mission to bridge the East and the West through bringing Asian-inspired shows to America, but now we are actually doing the opposite as well. We are bringing EDC Korea back to South Korea in April for the first time since 2019, and it one of our biggest projects right now. We have offices in New York, Los Angeles, and Korea, so we have grown to more than 20 employees at these corners of the world.” How do you see Asian culture(s) influencing the future of dance music? Luffy: “Dance music is a universal language and our Spring Festival headliners are popular, not only among Asian fans, but among fans around the world. Our Spring Festival attendees are not only from New York City’s Asian community, but they’re from all kinds of backgrounds. And when they step foot into the event, they are immediately immersed in cultural elements like the night market and lion dance performances. In Asian culture, family is very important. And our Spring Festival feels like one big family celebrating music and the Lunar New Year. Asia is known for some massive events, like S2O, and by continuing to bring events like these to the US, we can keep promoting diversity in the international dance music community.” Featured image: Chris Lavado The post Pulse Events founder discusses newly expanded Spring Festival 2025 [Q&A] appeared first on Dancing Astronaut.

Charli xcx to Star in A24 Movie "The Moment" Scored by A. G. Cook
Brats from all over the world are preparing to flock to the cinema when Charli xcx hits the silver screen in The Moment, a new film scored by her frequent collaborator A. G. Cook. The minds behind last year's most explosive album, Brat, is starring in the upcoming movie with help from her new production company, Studio365. The film's plot is unknown at this time, but it was reportedly co-written by Charli xcx herself. While her lyrics were integral to the "Brat summer" movement, the album wouldn't have had the same impact without the innovative production of Cook, who was named 2024's best audio engineer in EDM.com's list of the year's top industry leaders. Unsurprisingly, he's been called upon to provide the score for The Moment as the duo tackles another artistic medium. The film will be distributed by A24, which in recent years has become a fan-favorite studio amongst cinephiles. A24 is responsible for a number of seminal films released in the last decade, including the Best Picture-winning Everything Everywhere All At Once as well as Hereditary, Uncut Gems, Heretic and Midsommar. The release date of The Moment has not yet been revealed at the time of this writing. Woman Fatally Stabbed At Downtown Los Angeles Event
Los Angeles mourns the tragic loss of a member of their dance music community, following the fatal stabbing of a girl known as Amanda “Dandy Mandi” Torres, early Sunday morning. The incident, which occurred outside a downtown warehouse after party, has sparked numerous calls for increased safety measures at local events. Details surrounding the attack remain unclear, but according to Torres’ family, she was stabbed multiple times around 1:00 am on January 26th by a man who had been ejected from the event. Security personnel reportedly used mace to subdue the attacker. “We are devastated at the tragic loss of a community member,” reads a joint statement from event organizers Space Yacht, CYBER RODEO, and UNDERWAR3. “The victim’s family has established a GoFundMe page at @JusticeForMandi. We urge everyone to donate and share the link.” As per a post on the @JusticeForMandi account, Torres was at the event with her brother and friends. When multiple assailants allegedly attacked her brother, Torres intervened, tragically resulting in her own demise. Witnesses described the perpetrator as a man dressed entirely in black, while another attacker was reported to be wearing a distinctive navy bomber jacket with a white collar lining and glasses. The incident has reignited concerns about safety at dance events. In response, prominent promoter FEVER has announced a series of new security measures, including increased security and medical personnel presence, the implementation of metal detectors at entrances, and a stricter zero-tolerance policy. Local event organizer The LA Raver has also indicated plans to follow suit. The GoFundMe campaign for Torres’ family has already surpassed the halfway mark, raising nearly $20,000 of its $30,000 goal. Donations can be made via the platform, and anyone with information about the crime is urged to contact investigators at [email protected] or the LAPD tip line at (877) 529-3835. *Cover image: Wendy Wei [H/T] EDM Identity The post Woman Fatally Stabbed At Downtown Los Angeles Event appeared first on EDMTunes.

Mary Lou’s Opens in Palm Beach – Unveils Sofi Tukker & The Chainsmokers as Creative Entertainment Directors
Mary Lou’s arrives on the scene as a refined cocktail lounge and cultural epicenter where absolutely nothing is as it seems. It is hidden within the unassuming walls of its previous tenant Berto’s Bait & Tackle. Used to be a local staple that served local fishing enthusiasts and craft beer connoisseurs for over 50 years, one might never guess that this familiar exterior conceals a decadent, richly layered labyrinth within its walls. Each space has been carefully crafted to exude both sophistication and indulgence. Mary Lou’s Logo Visible Signs of Grandeur Right from the Doorway The speakeasy entrance immediately immerses patrons into the storied history of the establishment. It replicates the look and feel of The Corner Store. A visible completeness accompanies with rustic touches, fishing memorabilia and a distinctly coastal charm. As visitors progress further into the venue, they embark a visual and sensory journey. From this modest homage to a stunning vestibule that signals the grand unveiling of Mary Lou’s domain. Designed by Volenec Studio, the lounge itself dramatically emerges as a sensory stimulating, grandeur space filled with ornate wood paneling. The Progression A one-of-a-kind artwork and antique velvet drapery, creating an atmosphere that feels both intimate and boldly seductive. The centerpiece—a surrealist mural—commands attention. It resultantly blends hints of the past with a contemporary allure, drawing guests deeper into this decadent escape. Mary Lou’s is more than a venue. It’s an homage to a golden era of Palm Beach opulence and the stylish legacy of its muse, namesake and grandmother of co-founder Alex Melillo – the iconic Mary Lou Curtis. Mary was a bold, unapologetic force in the West Palm Beach fashion scene, celebrated for her daring spirit and playful flair. The Influence Known for vibrant, feminine designs that broke the mold of the times, her famed boutique – La Shack – captivated the likes of Jackie O, Betty White and more. These solidify Mary as the region’s ultimate tastemaker. They also cement her legacy as a fearless arbiter of an uncompromisingly glamorous life. The venue not only honors Mary Lou Curtis’ enduring influence, but invites a new generation to indulge in the vivacity that characterized her extraordinary world and the Palm Beach social scene at large. Guided by her favorite ethos “always have a sense of ridiculousness,” each exquisite corner of Mary Lou’s reflects her distinctive essence. Dramatic, yet delightfully secretive with a touch of irreverence. How David Guetta Is Reading His Future Through Las Vegas' Stars
Consider the paradox of David Guetta, a DJ who has spent four decades helping people forget time exists while simultaneously mastering its passage. As he launches another totemic Vegas DJ residency, he's thinking about the same thing: how to make something timeless in an illustrious career that has defied time itself. "It still feels like a miracle," Guetta says of his career with a disarming humility. "Getting there is very hard. Staying there is harder. And being happy is even harder." We're chatting over Zoom and his newborn son has just made a brief appearance, carried in by his girlfriend. The moment provides a striking contrast: here's a man who has devoted his life to keeping people young—if only for a few hours at a time—face to face with both the future and the weight of his own legacy in the Entertainment Capital of the World. The French icon began playing records before electronic music had a commercial future, went on to shape that future and now, at 57, refuses to stop reimagining it. He's now beginning another "new cycle," he says, though he's careful not to define exactly what that means. "Am I going to be able to come with a new sound again?" Guetta muses. "That, to me, is bigger than anything." c/o David Guetta We'll all see soon enough as Guetta prepares for his latest high-profile Vegas venture, a DJ residency at the lavish Fontainebleau. The brand-new resort's LIV Nightclub and LIV Beach daytime experience, developed by Miami hospitality legend Dave Grutman, aim to change the fabric of Sin City nightlife. It's a big move for Guetta, who has found a new home on The Strip after 12 years of seminal work at Wynn Nightlife's XS Nightclub and Encore Beach Club. His reverence for the pioneering Wynn brand is palpable, and the weight of the moment is not lost on him. "I'm nervous," Guetta admits. "But I'm coming with the weapons to make it fucking insane." "I think every challenge is always positive," he adds. "Being uncomfortable is what makes you become better." This philosophy has guided him through multiple reinventions on the road from underground house DJ to EDM festival headliner. When he started his career, he wasn't trying to be a "superstar DJ," he says," because it didn't exist." The simplicity of those early days as a teenager back in Paris brings him comfort, as he recalls charging just a dollar for entry to basement parties he promoted at school with hand-made flyers. He soon started spinning house music in local clubs like Le Broad, for which he remains deeply grateful. "I was so happy," Guetta recalls. "It was already a blessing that they would even give me a fee to play music—to have fun. I feel very blessed because I don't take anything for granted." Perhaps that's his real secret, the ability to maintain wonder and to treat each night behind the decks as both a gift and a challenge. Looking at him now—a father again at the height of his career—it's clear that he has mastered that most elusive of arts: staying forever young while growing ever wiser. He also credits as inspiration fellow LIV residents John Summit and Dom Dolla, a pair of house music superstars over 20 years his junior. But don't mistake his clarity for complacency. In an industry that treats youth as currency, Guetta has managed to transform age into an asset. "I don't do this to stay relevant," he insists. "I do this to keep a state of mind that is going to force me to stay relevant." c/o David Guetta A career as storied as Guetta's is measured not just in hits or headlining slots, but in the memories left behind. Since those humble days needling vinyl in Parisian cellars, the club has been his time machine to those memories, and dopamine its key. Decades later at LIV Las Vegas, his vision for the club is entwined in those roots. Guetta wants to recreate something increasingly rare in our hyperconnected age: the pure, unfiltered dancefloor experiences of his early career, before smartphones turned every moment into content and partying meant moving your feet instead of your thumbs. In today's war between FOMO and flow state, excessive smartphone use has emerged as one of the electronic dance music community's most contentious flashpoints. A grim study recently reported that 55% of respondents admitted they prioritize capturing footage of a music performance over being present in the moment, even though 13% said they rarely watch back the videos they record anyway. While some argue that attendees should be free to use their devices as they please, others bemoan them for provoking a sense of trepidation in those who want to dance freely without being documented. Many DJs have also lamented smartphones for corroding the connection with their fans, whose experiences are diluted by the compulsion to capture the moment. Guetta is a neutral party in this ongoing debate—all he cares about is making people dance so much that LIV's proprietors question the club's structural integrity. One of them, Fontainebleau Development CEO Jeffrey Soffer, said "you're missing an unparalleled experience" by skipping out on the residency. "I'm challenging myself... I hope people are going to remember this," Guetta says. "Because this also matters a lot to me: to leave memories of happiness in people's lives." Guetta will kick off his exclusive two-year residency with Fontainebleau on Saturday, March 22nd. It's the first of 13 performances inside LIV Las Vegas in 2025, the last of which is scheduled for May 31st. Tickets are available now.
