From SoundCloud remixes to headlining the Hollywood Palladium, Ray Volpe's artistic evolution has been leading to one monumental announcement: his debut album, FOREVER, VOLPETRON. Volpe announced the news in front of a sold-out crowd at the famed LA venue over the weekend. The show, which he characterized as "the best night of [his] entire life," marked the finale of his barnstorming "VOLPEVERSE" tour. Volpe, whose seismic drops and anthemic melodies have become a staple of today's bass music scene, called the moment "too surreal to process." But for fans, it felt inevitable. Spotify, Apple, and Amazon are in talks with Live Nation about adding a pre-sale for live events to super-premium tier subscribers. Live Nation President and CEO Michael Rapino confirmed the news on the company’s earnings call on February 20th. Rapino has been trying to find a model with all 3 of them that benefits both parties. The confirmation arrives a few days after Bloomberg reported that Spotify’s long-touted ‘Super Pro’ tier could arrive this year and that early access to concert tickets could be one of the perks. Other perks include hi-fidelity audio and AI-powered remixes and playlisting. Spotify is considering charging up to $5.99 more per month on top of a Premium subscription for access to the tier. Rapino had this to add “As far as the latest round with Spotify and Apple and Amazon, they’ve approached us all. We’ve talked to them all about ideas on if they wanted inventory. There’s a cost to that, and we would entertain and look at that option if it made sense for us in comparison to other options we have for that presale, which is a very evaluable asset.” Early access to concert tickets could be one of, if not the biggest selling points, for Spotify’s superfan tier. Mexican event company Lostnights has been revealed as the production partner resurrecting Fyre Festival, the notorious 2017 event that ended in chaos and led to founder Billy McFarland's imprisonment for fraud. The second iteration of Fyre Festival is slated for May 30th to June 2nd on Isla Mujeres, a small island off Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula near Cancún. Lostnights, an event organizer with deep ties to Tulum's electronic music scene, will handle production duties. "I'm sure many people think I’m crazy for doing this again," McFarland said in a statement released today. "But I feel I’d be crazy not to do it again. Lostnights boasts on its website about being "adept at logistics, coordination, and execution, ensuring every element of your event is flawless." McFarland in 2022 was released from prison after serving four years for wire fraud following the botched event on the Bahamian island of Great Exuma. The new location choice of Isla Mujeres presents its own challenges. The island, which has a population of less than 23,000, has limited infrastructure compared to major festival destinations, raising questions about pain points in the original event's collapse. Just over half of households on the island have internet access, according to the Municipality of Quintana Roo. This upward trend continued into 2022, with monthly tourist arrivals reaching up to 200,000 and ballooning hotel occupancy rates on the island, according to Latin American tourism news outlet REPORTUR. Fan voting for the 2025 Electronic Dance Music Awards is now officially open after the nominees were officially revealed. Driven by its fan-based voting system, the MTV-style EDMA ceremony takes place at the height of Miami Music Week and dishes out unique trophies that resemble DJ decks, including a functional jog-wheel. The invite-only event is returning to its home at the Eden Roc Miami Beach on Friday, March 28th. The EDMAs are returning in collaboration with the International Dance Music Awards (IDMAs), touted as the longest-running awards ceremony dedicated to the electronic music industry.
