It was an absolute honor to be on the shortlist alongside some of the biggest and best in the game. Massive congratulations to Defected for taking home the win, and even bigger big ups to every single one of you who voted for us. Your support means the world! Elsewhere in the industry, a major step forward for London’s nightlife has been announced. Mayor Sadiq Khan has unveiled the city’s first-ever Nightlife Taskforce, an 11-person team set to tackle challenges and opportunities in the capital’s nighttime economy. Among those appointed are fabric cofounder Cameron Leslie (chair of the group), Pxssy Palace founder Nadine Noor, Colour Factory founder Nathanael Williams, and NTIA CEO Michael Kill. Over the next six months, they’ll be working on recommendations to ensure London’s nightlife continues to thrive. A huge step in the right direction for club culture! Festival season is already making moves—Boomtown Festival has been granted permission to increase its capacity by 11,000 attendees, bringing the total to a staggering 80,000. Known for its immersive storytelling and diverse lineup, Boomtown has assured fans that safety, traffic, and environmental concerns have been addressed, paving the way for an even bigger and better experience in 2025. If you weren’t already hyped for this summer, now’s the time! The bass community was hit with heartbreaking news this month as we said goodbye to grime pioneer Terror Danjah. A true innovator, his intricate production style helped shape grime and UK bass music as we know it today. His influence extended far beyond the genre, leaving an undeniable mark on the electronic music landscape. Peers and fans alike have paid tribute, remembering his legacy and celebrating the groundbreaking work he created. Rest in power, Terror Danjah. On a more personal note for the scene, beloved drum and bass MC Ben Verse shared an update on his health journey. After being diagnosed with acute monoblastic leukemia in 2024, he was finally discharged from the hospital after 208 days. In an emotional Instagram video on February 17, the former Pendulum member expressed his gratitude to fans, saying, “It means a hell of a lot… I can’t thank you enough.” A true warrior. Bristol-based multi- genre producer Emerald Lotus has achieved this with remarkable finesse, delivering a mix that feels both expansive and meticulously crafted. Renowned Indian electronic producer and a regular on the Anjunadeep roster, Anyasa has released his latest single ‘Healing’. It is the second track to be released from his upcoming EP titled ‘Flectere’. The track is in collaboration with Parallel Voices & Lake Silver (the alias of Grammy-nominated songwriter, Richard Walters). Earlier, he had announced his much-awaited North America tour. Scheduled to kick off in March 2025, the tour will be spanning seven cities across the continent. He sent back this incredibly uplifting vocal idea and we instantly knew it was the one! The best collaborations are the quickest ones and this was a dream to work on ANYASA ON ‘HEALING’ Anyasa is also bringing his third successive North America tour in three years. Last year saw Elohim drop her astonishing ‘Power of Panic’ album which earned critical spotlights in Rolling Stone, Billboard, and The New York Times while also captivating her fans with the journey she created through the album. After already receiving an incredible reception to ‘Power of Panic’, she has now expanded upon this powerhouse of an album by releasing the ‘Deluxe Edition’ featuring 4 new tracks. The first new element is an interlude in ‘Scratch My Brain’ which is a short, simple, and yet satisfying soundscape which continues the steady calming in energy from ‘The Call.’ This leads into an utterly beautiful cover of AWOLNATION’s defining anthem ‘Sail’ which offers a unique and personal take on a classic that further diversifies the sonic journey of ‘Power of Panic.’ These additions make for a well-integrated change in energy for the first half of the album and add more emotional depth through their style and lyrics. Later in the album we meet ‘Patience’, an unsettling track intended to reflect anxiety’s relentless hold which is achieved expertly through the glitchy sounding vocals and sudden switches between different sounding synths. Having the verses being moments of calm in the song further elevate the impact of the chorus’ which is something Elohim does extremely well across the whole album. The final addition to ‘Power of Panic’ is ‘Little Help’ in collaboration with Yoshi Flower which brings back more of the high energy feel to link into the title track. It’s yet another display of Elohim’s ability to impressively spring from calm moments into more chaotic sections while making it feel perfectly natural. The ‘Deluxe Edition’ adds even more diversity of sound to an album that already had a plethora of styles wonderfully brought together.
