Watch ALL The Fireworks Go Off At Once On Tomorrowland’s Main Stage [VIDEO]
When you have a festival going for three straight weekends, like Tomorrowland just did, you’re bound to have some truly spectacular moments happen quite spontaneously. One such moment happened during 3 Are Legend (Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike, & Steve Aoki) on the main stage on Weekend 3 as the trio dropped “Mammoth,” one of DVLM’s biggest hits. In the video of their set, just uploaded on Monday, at 44:24, you can see what looks like every single firework being set off all at once in a remarkably explosive fashion. The rest of the video, you can see some fireworks continuing to go off but it seems like they’re from stages behind the main stage, and there aren’t any “finale” fireworks at the end of their set, as you might expect there to be. A post on Reddit claims it was done “accidentally” due to a pyro mistake, but we know how people like to spread rumors on Reddit. We reached out to team at Tomorrowland to ask exactly what happened but have not yet heard back at time of publication. Check out the video below! This article was first published on Your EDM. MUST DIE! shares first single ‘GRAVEBLOOM’ from upcoming album
MUST DIE! plays by his own rules and it’s a game every music lover should want to experience. While the artist first made a name for himself as a prominent player in the bass world, his music and range as a producer has morphed into something that falls well outside the bounds of any one genre. Take for example his live sets, many of the songs border on 160 BPM with a whole lot of techno and other strange and wonderful sounds invading the space. We saw this trend in MUST DIE’S recordings for some time now with his most recent album, CRISIS VISION, released last year, exploring the outer realms of the electronic music world. Coming off of two major collaborations with Eptic and Zomboy for their respective projects, the next stop in the MUST DIE! journey is his new single ‘GRAVEBLOOM.’ The track was inspired by the golden era of UK rave and classic artists such as The Prodigy, Atari Teenage Riot, and Squarepusher. It’s notable for combining an 80’s inspired synth line with crackling percussion and jagged breakbeats. “’GRAVEBLOOM’ is something I’ve always wanted to do, thematically. I love a lot of music that breaks formulas and surprises the listener without feeling like a novelty, or relying on the “gotcha” to sell itself. I really wanted the tension to build and release naturally, so I didn’t force it,” MUST DIE! says. Listen below! This article was first published on Your EDM. Fred Again Makes Triumphant Boiler Room Debut
Fred Again.. made his most recent show one to remember—by making his Boiler Room debut. The famed U.K. producer, who is quickly becoming a superstar in the electronic dance music space, turned up the heat and worked up a sweat in an intimate warehouse venue for Boiler Room. The London based performance was chock full of feverish button-mashing and a ton unreleased IDs. The DJ set came at a pivotal time for Fred Again.., who is readying last-minute preparations for his forthcoming album Actual Life 3 which is expected to release in a matter of weeks. After opening up with an unreleased collaboration with Swedish House Mafia, it was “look out below” as Fred again.. blitzed through a medley of groove-inducing tunes with an eager audience fanning a full 360° around him. The close quarters even led to a brief interruption, but he handled the situation and bounced back like a seasoned pro. The perrformances saw many special moments including Fred debuting an unreleased Skrillex bass house track. This track has been teased by Fred before, but the reaction is on another level this time around. With the iconic “my name is is Skrillex” before the drop, this banger detonates into a mad bass house groove that has the crowd going nuts (soon after, Yellow Shirt Guy makes a big mistake). Watch the full performance now online below!

Deathpact Brings Out A SECOND Deathpact To Close Out HARD Summer Performance
This weekend at HARD Summer brought about its usual share of surprises and stellar performances with impressive bookings and pairings. In particular, if you happened to catch Deathpact’s set on Sunday night, and stayed until the end, you saw something really interesting: a second Deathpact. Deathpact first popped up on the radar in 2018 and they’ve been fueling rumors and questions ever since, wondering who’s under the mask. Hopping in during the midtempo craze that year, they quickly established a place for themselves along with other artists like 1788-L, Rezz, Kloud, Quackson, and more. Now, four years down the line, four EPs and more singles, and we seem to have the next evolution in the project — a duo. We reached out to management who only had a “no comment” on the matter, but it’s hard to think of what else a second Deathpact on stage could mean. Taking the context into account, there was no final song, either, when the double arrived, as if it was a special guest or collaboration in the works. It seemed very much like an introduction. Check out the video from Brownies & Lemonade below for a closer look at the live moment. when deathpact brings out a clone at hard summer?! @deathpact @hardfest pic.twitter.com/NcOBJTeEL5 — Brownies & Lemonade (@TeamBandL) August 1, 2022 Photo via Brandon Densley / @DNZ_MEDIA This article was first published on Your EDM. New Artist Spotlight: Brynilde Conjures Ancient Energy With her Debut Album ‘The Sound of the Winter Sun’
It’s surprising that Brynilde is based in the US, given her artist name, which is a permutation of the Old Scandinavian “Brunhilda” as well as the timbre of her exquisite soprano, which is spot on for ancient Nordic folk songs, a’la YouTube star Jonna Jinton. Brynilde’s debut album, The Sound of the Winter Sun, which came out last month, also has track names like “Priestess or Shieldmaiden.” Actually a French expat, one might think that Brynilde is based in Sweden or Norway. It turns out she’s just a lover of all things ancient and has made it her mission on this album to fuse that soul and sentiment with the modern world. With a passion for the world of antiquity, Brynilde has studied the ancient cultures and traditions not only of the Nords but the Greeks, and Greek philosophy, Buddhism and French Renaissance philosophers like Descartes. All these messages sort of converge in the message of the album, which is about the contrast of life and finding beauty in that contrast. Brynilde sums it up best herself: Inspired by ancient symbols, folktales, and alchemic processes, melodies and lyrics started emerging from my psyche. My first album, the Sound of the Winter Sun, was born. The artistic expression has been a tool to heal and free myself, exorcise some emotions, and feed my soul. My songs explore different themes, such as identity, courage, authenticity, addiction, individuation, reality, and spirituality, with the same overarching goal of breaking free from the chains of perceptions and emotional triggers. It almost sounds like a bonus for Brynilde that the album came out of all this soul-searching, but that’s what makes it so authentic. Musically just as much of a mélange as the subjects and studies that created it, The Sound of the Winter Sun mixes ambient sound design and orchestral backing arrangements with Brynilde’s picth-perfect soprano and masterful piano playing to create just the windswept, sunny-day-in-winter feeling the album’s title conjures. The Sound of the Winter Sun gets its indie edge partially from the percussion, performed by Leo Margarit of Pain of Salvation fame, who also produced the album, which is syncopated, varied and goes through loads of tempo changes. In album opening track “The Descent,” an analog jazz snare hearalds so many tempo changes, in fact, that along with the composition it pushes the whole sound into a much more edgy territory, and Brynhilde’s vox from Sarah Brightman to Kate Bush. Similarly, the following track “Priestess or Shieldmaiden” has big, heavy and folksy-sounding drums which follow the somewhat unstructured verses of the vocals. Still heavily composed and cinematic, the primalness of the drums connects the ancient to the modern. In other tracks like “Ungracefulness,” guitars are what send the music in a more indie or rock direction; heavy, grungy and slightly goth with the orchestral arrangements, listeners should be able to catch a bit of Evanesence or even a bit of Brightman’s Phantom contained therein. Yet others are lighter and really leave Brynilde to her own devices with her piano, such as another song that references antiquity, “Hecate.” It’s honestly more than enough with Brynilde’s voice alone. It beggars belief that earlier in her career she felt she had vocal pitching problems. The track that best sums up Brynilde’s sound, message and purpose on The Sound of the Winter Sun is probably “Echos de Tonnerre” (fr. “echoes of thunder”). Singing in her native French, there’s even more depth and honesty here to Brynilde’s voice and even if the listener doesn’t understand the lyrics, the emotion there really calls back to her original purpose for making this album. Paired with closer “I See Beauty,” It’s clear that this album was a journey of emotions, struggles and contrasts, but at the end comes such a beautiful reward. With a style that’s already so developed, it still seems that after The Sound of the Winter Sun Brynilde can still go in any direction she wants. She could do a full-on EDM album and be absolutely lauded, or she could stay in her current niche of indie ambient. With talent and skill as well as a high-vibration message, the healing Brynhilde gives herself and the world through her music cannot be understated. The Sound of the Winter Sun is out now can can be streamed on Spotify. Check out Brynilde’s YouTube channel for more visualizers and lyric videos. This article was first published on Your EDM. They have also charted in 93 countries worldwide. Now, this immensely talented duo are making a roaring return to Laidback Luke’s Mixmash Records with their electrifying single, “CEO“. The vocals is impossible not to love, courtesy of Jaimes, paired with brilliant uplifting and emotive melodies that Over Easy build into a euphoric drop that deserves to be on the main stage. “This track actually began over a year ago in spring of 2021, at least the first demo of it. We ended up sending it to singer/songwriter Jaimes and he really liked what we sent. He ended up sending back the vocals you hear now that are insane. Eventually, we felt our production was a bit dated so we did a few different re-works, a ton of tweaks to the mix and master, and finally we presented everyone a track we are extremely happy with. We’ve been playing it live and the energy is crazy! This track is really special to us, some of our favorite show memories are playing this track. We first played it live at our first headline show in Chicago in 2021, and that was the moment I knew it was special. The crowd jumping and going crazy was special.” – Over Easy Listen below! New Artist Spotlight: Devin James Fry’s Foray Into Electronica is Producing Some Interesting Results With Recent Singles
Austin blues rock band Name Sayers is one of those not-so-well-kept secrets that indie fans discover and fall in love with at the ancillary gigs around Austin City Limits or SXSW. As smoky and bluesy as a Lord Huron or a Hozier but with a decidedly grungy bent to keep them from being lumped in with the the sometimes-too-contrived indie folk genre, Name Sayers area local gem in a city full of local gems. That said, we here at EDM are willing to bet no one saw Name Sayer frontman Devin James Fry branching out into electronica as a solo act coming. Well here’s another shock, indie rock fans: he’s been doing it for nine years. Let’s qualify this a bit: Fry just started making his own beats in his most recent tracks, “Purple Glue” and “No Hope.” His first solo album Headwater Songs in 2013, in fact, was even more blues-and-folk-informed than his band. In fact, this album released before Name Sayers’ first EP Four Dreams. Radicans, Fry’s first digital-leaning solo album actually came out in 2020. A mix of acoustic, Gipsy Kings-style guitars, bluesy vox and drums and post-punk songwriting a’la Nick Cave, the only electronic production comes from simple ambient sound design but it’s nonetheless there. So all that said, “Purple Glue” and “No Hope” are a departure for Fry to say the least. Released as a duo, it seems with these two tracks Fry wanted to bring that post punk flavor from Radicans to his first actual electronic tracks. “Purple Glue” is decidedly the most post punk of the two, with Fry’s rich, bluesy Tom Waits-esque voice smoothing out the edges of the gravely trip hop beat and synths. There’s an industrial quality there was well, again from those raw synths and the echoey sound design as well as the sort of desolation in the vox and twisting of notes. It’s what one would think Ian Curtis might have done if he’d survived, had access to modern equipment and suddenly lost his tone deafness. Post punk becomes post rock becomes post…industrial? Interesting idea and it definitely makes “Purple Glue” a cutting edge track. “No Hope” featuring Otem Rellik and Nat Tate is even more integrative of post punk and industrial ambients with what’s essentially a trap beat. Fry and Tate’s looped vocal chorus grounds the track, or rather, swirls it into an inky sonic abyss. Rellik comes over the whole heavy Bauhaus-gone-digital mess with verse that’s part rap and part spoken word a’la John Cooper Clarke to really drive home the verbal point in no uncertain terms. The effect of this collaboration is almost a more bluesy, industrial and dystopian version of mid-era Gorillaz. Is this post punk hip hop? We certainly hope so. With “No Hope” and “Purple Glue,” Devin James Fry seems to not only be expanding into electronic and scratching some sort of digital itch that none of us knew was even there, but he might even be creating new genres along the way. This is why it’s important to always keep one’s eye on Austin if one wants to stay in the know with music. Even the artists like Fry and his Name Sayers who seem like they’re all vintage indie folk can suddenly come out with some crazy trap-laced hip hop. “Keep Austin weird,” indeed, and with his solo tracks looking just as popular on Spotify as the Name Sayers ones, we can likely expect even more post punk, indie pop, weird-ass electronica. “No Hope” and “Purple Glue” are out now and can be streamed on Spotify, purchased digitally on Bandcamp or on vinyl at Old Faithful Records. In addition, it landed on one of YouTube‘s biggest official playlists: Vitamin (D)ance, and Spinnin’s “New Dance Music Friday”. It’s rare to see such high-level support for an independent artist, although it is worth noting that he had the help of the record label Youth Energy for the pitching process. This will no doubt B’s biggest song on Apple Music to date. Produced by Andrew Nagy and BassBears, together as artists they cumulatively have over 50 million streams on Spotify alone. B is in great company for this release, as these are artists have been on our radar for a while because their work is so dope. We like to see that B Martin is approaching the game in a different way from most artists, collaborating with Major DJ/Artists and Labels throughout the world. This method has allowed him to secure many major label deals, and start going viral on Spotify and Apple Music. Not to mention all of the fun he must be having – working with producers from all different cultures and countries. When we popped over to B‘s Instagram, we noticed he had co-written “I’ll Always Love You” by Kindred and Stryer which released on the same day. B worked on this with incredible songwriters Hannah Avison and Kindred, a team that was put together by top EDM Management company: Limelight Entertainment. We had to bring some attention towards this record not only because it’s a straight banger, but it features some of the most beautiful vocals we’ve ever heard. This is the first time B Martin has come on our radar, but as we dug deeper into his catalog, we can hear that we will be featuring him much more on YourEdm! Aside from EDM, B also raps, and has collaborated with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Juicy J, T Pain and many other legends. Keep it hush – but we heard through the grapevine that he recently landed a song on a major label that is to drop next month. We will be waiting patiently on his next one. Swedish House Mafia Continue To Cancel More Shows on ‘Paradise Again’ Tour
Last year, before Swedish House Mafia had released their album Paradise Again, they had already announced their first run of US shows since 2012. The album came out this past April, and it was good. The hype was there for a tour. But now shows are getting cancelled, in some cases, just weeks before the date. It’s no secret that the US is facing some hard economic times right now, and ticket sales are down across the map with fewer shows hitting sell out. Especially for festivals when travel is often involved, many promoters are struggling. It should be somewhat easier for local shows, especially with previously stadium-filling acts like Swedish House Mafia, but many shows are now being taken off the schedule. NME reports, “[…] the trio have announced the cancellation of shows at the Amway Center in Orlando on July 31, Madison Square Garden on August 2, TD Garden in Boston on August 9, Washington, D.C.’s Verizon Arena on August 11, and Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on August 17.” Since that article was published on Monday, MetLife in New Jersey, Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, and Footprint Center in Phoenix have also been cancelled. No mention of the cancellations has been made on the group’s social media, but there are plenty of fans on Twitter who have something to say about it. I love how Swedish House Mafia is posting photos of their stage setup, literally the same day they cancelled a bunch of dates because of “production issues” and “low ticket sales.” Clearly y’all haven’t learned anything, this is so tone deaf. https://t.co/QZmkhZH0xI — BitFox’s Day Off Megaplex (@BitFox13) July 23, 2022 @swedishousemfia canceling concerts and scared to buy tickets to a different city now that it’ll get cancelled too #orlando Been dying to see them since I got into the #edm just as they announced their break up and goodbye 2012 — C Bakes (@CBakes412) July 26, 2022 And some more conspiratorial guesses… I think Swedish House Mafia pulled a "The Producers" style caper with their reunion tour. They didn't WANT to tour, were contractually OBLIGATED to tour, so they made ticket prices so outrageous that nobody bought them and they cancelled the tour. Everybody wins. — Rocket Backhander (@RBackhander76) July 27, 2022 To buy a floor ticket for their Los Angeles Banc of California show, one of the bigger shows in the run, you would have to put down $170 — a price for a single artist show that not many EDM fans are used to or receptive to. Floor tickets for their new Madison Square Garden show, which is now the same date as the previous MetLife show, start at $340. It remains to be seen how many more dates end up cancelled before the tour’s conclusion. The tour begins tomorrow at FTX Arena in Miami, which still has plenty of seats available. via NME | Photo via Rukes.com This article was first published on Your EDM. Biicla Shares Sad Groovy Bops on Second Album ‘Yes Place’
When we advised that the world should keep an eye out for Biicla on our 2020 Artists to Watch list, no one could have predicted where his sound was going to take us. Since then, however, the producer and DJ has remained a steady name that draws attention with each new release. Whether it’s remixing guys like Louis the Child, What So Not and Whethan to appearing on labels like Deadbeats, Confession and bitbird, Biicla is a hot commodity. To cement this sentiment, he shared his latest album Yes Place last week. Yes Place follows-up Biicla’s debut album No Place. Even the album’s first track “Intro (Keeping It Easy)” samples the title track from album one. But where his debut record had more variety between songs, this sophomore LP has tracks that have honed his style of electronica. Case and point: “I’m Not”. The track opens with a gentle beat and this low-sounding, layered vocal provided by collaborator Rome In Silver. The lyrics hint at heartbreak and mental exhaustion while the instrumental carries on a moody, subtle bassline. The chorus’ simple coo and higher register make this an instant attention grabber. The album is a mix of deeper house cuts like “Cigarettes” and “Mini Skrt” and offbeat jams like “Let Yourself Go (VIP)” and “Never Be Mine”. Thematically, however, the album explores the trials and tribulations of love and lust even when certain songs are in utter emotional contrast to another. For example, “For You” featuring KROY has a romantic sentiment attached to it and an upbeat, bedroom pop vibe. Meanwhile, “Never Be Mine” laments over a relationship the singer is wishing for but is ultimately doomed. But the soundscape of melancholic synths and lo-fi high-hats bind Yes Place in harmony. Released by the label Good Luck Have Fun, Yes Place by Biicla is available now and definitely worth the listen. This article was first published on Your EDM.
