Skrillex, Varg²™ and Bladee Team Up for New Collab, "Is there a place in heaven for boys like me?"
Skrillex, Varg²™ and Bladee toil through the throes of an existential crisis in their new collaboration, "Is there a place in heaven for boys like me?" The new track appears on the sixth installment of the Nordic Flora Series from the elusive Swedish producer, Varg²™. Back in February the album was revealed to feature Skrillex as well as the Swedish experimental pop artist Bladee, among others. "Is there a place in heaven for boys like me?" opens placidly with soft vocals atop spacey pads. Twinkly arpeggios then guide us into a breakdown before the chorus hits like a bullet train with propulsive hyperpop drums and cybernetic synths. The new release follows Skrillex and Bladee's previous collaborations, "Ceremony" and "Real Spring" off the dubstep icon's 2023 album Don't Get Too Close. Swedish compatriots Varg²™ and Bladee also teamed up on "H2D" (with Ecco2K) for the former's new album. "Is there a place in heaven for boys like me?" is out now on YEAR0001. Gorgon City Announce Fifth Album With Uplifting Single, "All That You Need"
Gorgon City have announced their fifth album, Reverie. The project is the culmination of a world-conquering year following the resounding success of the duo's acclaimed 2023 album Salvation, which yielded a treasure trove of hits like "Voodoo" and "Pose." Their recent singles, including the club-ready "You Know It," have set the stage for Reverie, due out on July 19th via REALM Records and Astralwerks. Gorgon City also dropped a new single, "All That You Need," showcasing their signature, infectious house music production. With its bright keys, danceable drums and fluttering vocal chops giving way to soulful hooks, the track is a masterstroke that lands exactly as intended after they announced a stylistic shift to focus on producing "pure club music" earlier in 2024. Amidst the excitement of their album announcement, Gorgon City have a packed schedule to showcase their new material, from their recent REALM Showcase during Miami Music Week to their residency at LIV Las Vegas. They're also set to perform in Coachella's famed Yuma Tent this month. Check out "All That You Need" below. You can pre-save Gorgon City's forthcoming Reverie album here. Anti Up Drop Dual Dynamite Tracks, Electrifying Coachella Buzz: Listen
In the run-up to Coachella 2024, Chris Lake and Chris Lorenzo, known collectively as Anti Up, are dialing up the heat with the release of two big singles. "Control The Media" is a hypnotizing house marvel, weaving an ominous narrative with its mantra-like hook: "Control the airwaves, control the mind." The track's build-up leads to a cataclysmic drop highlighted by thunderous kicks and a stark, minimal lead that cuts through the mix with precision. Its simplicity belies its depth, compelling listeners to ponder the message against a characteristically infectious rhythmic breakdown. On the flip side, "The Weekend" is a high-octane anthem for escapism and unapologetic revelry. With lyrics that feel almost conversational, it's a musical embodiment of the no-holds-barred spirit of the weekend, inviting us to shed the shackles of the workweek and dive headfirst into the thrill of the moment. The track's energy is underscored by production that doesn't shy away from delivering the same thumping action that has long-defined Anti Up's sound. Emerging as twin titans of sound ahead of the duo's hotly anticipated Coachella debut, both tracks underpin Anti Up's continued evolution, pushing the boundaries of house music while remaining true to the basslines that have cemented their status as industry leaders. Zeds Dead, Flux Pavilion, and DeathbyRomy Unite for Anthemic New Single "Waves"
Zeds Dead and Flux Pavilion, two of the biggest names in dubstep and bass music, have finally released their first collaboration, joining forces with DeathbyRomy for "Waves." The new track captures the hallmark sounds of all three, leading to a dream collaboration. DeathbyRomy's haunting vocals pave the way for ethereal, synth-heavy soundscapes to blossom in the mix before we're met with the drop's growls and warbling bass. The anthemic single fits perfectly into a festival setting and it's something fans can certainly expect to hear from each artist all summer long. While this may only be Zeds Dead's second song of the year following the release of "Back Bus" (with REAPER), Flux Pavilion has been on a tear. Earlier this year, he dropped collaborations with Excision and Eliminate and revealed more are complete with the likes of Wavedash, Wooli and Jessica Audiffred. Yotto and AVIRA's New Single is an Anthemic Ode to Emotional Emancipation: Listen
Yotto and AVIRA have joined forces to release "Forget," a melodic house masterclass in capturing the paradoxical pain and liberation of letting go. Out now on Yotto's Odd One Out label, the track features an aching vocal performance by ALSO ASTIR. His lyrics viscerally evoke the suffocating grip of lingering attachment, likening it to physical shackles restraining the soul: "Your heart will enslave me / With collars on my wrists." Then his pleas to "let me forget our time" cut like a knife, severing those emotional chains. But Yotto and AVIRA's haunting production provides a soundtrack to those anguished recollections flooding back, only to cede to transcendent, expansive choruses—the mind finally escaping its ghost. As the song escalates, it swells with anthemic grandeur, ultimately delivering a profound yet danceable exploration of how letting go is both brutal and restorative. Tunes Of The Month – Hottest Tracks Of March 2024
These are the songs that shaped our month, from work to the club, and back. MIAMI. MUSIC. WEEK. BABY. March is quite an interesting month for the Dance world. Neverending days and nights of pool parties, dancing at Space, watching the palm trees with a drink in hand, and, well, a little gathering called Ultra Music Festival. Everything happens in March, and everything happened in MMW as well with the climate not behaving as a good child. Of course, the city and the scene surfed through the gushes and the rain like pros and kept partying from Tuesday to Sunday regardless. For all that new music shaping the Dance scene and which we had the pleasure to encounter, we’ve decided to make a little recap highlighting those tunes we can’t get out of our heads. So please sit back, put on your best set of headphones, and read on, as we unveil our top tracks of the Miami-devoted month of 2024. 5. Chris Avantgarde & Kevin de Vries — Killa [UNRELEASED] Genre(s): Tech House Release Date: N/A Mood(s): Groovy, Tense One of the hardest, toughest, most lemon-face-inducing IDs of the month came by the hand of veteran collaborators Chris Avantgarde and Kevin de Vries. The pair, while separately crushing the entire Dance scene with their own projects, have come together for tracks such as ‘Mind Control’ and a remix of the incredibly popular track ‘Mwaki’ by Zerb and Sofiya Nzau. This one, an upcoming release on John Summit’s Experts Only imprint — if we connected the dots properly anyway —, sees the pair come through with a more powerful track than ever before, known for now as ‘Killa‘. Spot it as the opening track of the below-attached set of John on a Summit. 4. Anyma & Chris Avantgarde — Eternity (Massano Remix) Genre(s): Melodic Techno Release Date: March 29th, 2024 Mood(s): Epic, Energetic Given a name for the first time during the Afterlife tour through South America, Massano turned to remixing duties on one of Anyma‘s hit tracks of 2023, ‘Eternity‘. To say we heard it a ton over the month, particularly during MMW, would be an understatement. And with god reason. Massano’s take grabs the original version and completes it with more unpredictable left and right turns, all while upping the thumpiness of the beat to new levels. Don’t open a Melodic Techno set with this. 3. Rebūke — Along Came Polly (Konstantin Sibold, CARMEE & ZAC Remix) [UNRELEASED] Genre(s): Melodic Techno Release Date: N/A Mood(s): Energetic, Sexy The original ‘Along Came Polly‘ — the song, not the movie — came out half a decade ago. And the remix is not out yet, nor has it been provided a public release date. But we did hear it a bunch over these past weeks, enough times to cut into our list and take the bronze medal. Honestly, the energy of the remixers is such that, by the time you’ve noticed, you will probably have listened to it enough times to justify its third place as well. 2. The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition (John Summit & Silver Panda Remix) Genre(s): Tech House Release Date: January 26th, 2024 Mood(s): Groovy, Happy I mean, it’s the perfect slap of nostalgia, in the perfect Tech House style that doesn’t turn repetitive, and the ideal singalong for the month of Miami. It’s the optimal amount of cheese. ‘Sweet Disposition‘ is a track we all know and love — I hope —, and Miami kept that bar sky high. John Summit and Silver Panda? You cannot go wrong. Honourable Mentions As every month, there was a ton of new material which, even though didn’t make the cut into our list, shouldn’t be overlooked. This month, though, we can’t really share the ungodly amount of music we loved, and so, a really good summary of everything is to take a look into the Ultra Miami sets already up on YouTube. You can go through the entirety of April listening to these! 1. Sharam – PATT (Party All The Time) (Adam Beyer, Layton Giordani & Green Velvet Remix) Genre(s): Techno (Peak Time) Release Date: April 5th, 2024 [CONFIRMED] Mood(s): Banging, Happy Re-claiming its golden medal, the trophy, the champagne, and everything else, is ‘PATT‘. If it was everywhere in January, you can only begin to imagine how many plays this excellent Peak Time Techno rendition of the 2006 hit, 80s-nodding track got. In simple words, there are fewer grains of sand on a beach than supports of this track throughout March. Coming out TOMORROW, check out the otherworldly work of three legends coming together for, arguably, the remix of the year so far. 1:18:50 for all yous. Final Words What are your top tunes from last month? Which artists are you most excited about for April? Did we miss any tracks? We’re eagerly waiting for what’s to come these next couple of days. Be sure to follow our page to stay up to date on the latest news and views regarding EDM! The post Tunes Of The Month – Hottest Tracks Of March 2024 appeared first on EDMTunes.

Field Day Festival to Return to London With Justice, PinkPantheress, Charlotte de Witte and More
For nearly two decades, Field Day Festival has been one of London's most beloved events and a platform for seasoned headliners and emerging talents alike. Programmed by the legendary Broadwick Live, the team behind DRUMSHEDS, Printworks and more, Field Day's multiple stages allow festivals to curate their own personalized lineups and to explore the vibrant installations on offer. After last year’s edition saw electronic music vanguards Aphex Twin and Bonobo set the stages ablaze for over 50,000 attendees, Field Day 2024 is back to close out summer with a bang. Bringing some of today's most influential artists to the heart of London on Saturday, August 24th, this year's lineup is arguably bigger than ever. The festival promises the long-awaited return of French house pioneers Justice, who are set to perform in the UK for the first time in over six years. With their forthcoming album Hyperdrama due out on April 26th, attendees can expect raw energy and infectious rhythms from the duo. Joining Justice as headliners are BRIT Award nominee PinkPantheress and Charlotte de Witte, who will bring her new production, "Overdrive," to Field Day this summer. The Belgian techno sensation described it as a "fast-paced experience that's "all about the feeling of being on the edge and living life to the fullest." Other highlights of this year's eclectic lineup include Mura Masa, Romy, Yves Tumor, horsegiirL, Yaeji, Bambii and a hotly anticipated b2b set from Hudson Mohawke and Tiga. More performances will be announced in the weeks ahead. You can find tickets and more information via Field Day's official website. UKF Tour Returns To New Zealand
We had a catch up with Audiology’s Mitch Lowe ahead of their UKF New Zealand Tour which starts tonight. Grab your tickets here. Hi, How are you? Hi! I am great thanks, well I can’t complain after a week away in Bora Bora – had to get one last trip in before the baby arrives. Dad life incoming: July 2024. Talk to us about Audiology, who are you as a company? What do you do? Audiology is an electronic music touring company that prides itself on doing cool shit. We are a group of music fans that are passionate about all things in bass music – and I’d like to think that shows in the way we present ourselves. We are an independent events company and started from nothing, so we are just enjoying the crazy 15 year journey we have been on, and we plan to never stop pushing the boundaries for events across Aotearoa. What have you been up to recently? We’re just getting into the busy period in terms of our summer planning- end of the year. All the festival bookings seem to hit at once. On the Audiology front, we’re kicking off the UKF Festival tour this week, so that’s exciting, but our calendar never stops with over 150 shows a year – we can sleep later in life, surely? We are also in the thick of planning our favourite winter festival called Mardi Gras, it’s the wildest street party you can imagine, you’ll have to come check it out sometime. How did Audiology get started? It was a bit of an accident and an amalgamation of things. I tried to start a clothing label, ran out of cash and had no way to market it. Throwing a launch party to ‘advertise the brand’ felt like the only viable option, so I got my friends to sell tickets, booked some local DJs, had a massive night- aka woke up with no shoes and some cash in my pocket, and thought wow… ‘Imagine if I could do that again next month!” Over the years tiny $5 club shows slowly turned into medium-sized $10 club shows – and the rest is history. Obviously there have been hundreds of mistakes and learnings along the way, but persistence beats failure and I knew this is what I wanted to do from that very moment. Passion finds a way of getting you through anything… even the billing arguments with agents…Just. Any stand-out moments? It’s truly hard to pick a few given we have done 1500+ events, but here goes: Delivering the largest D&B headline show in NZ history with Sub Focus, Dimension and Friction in a 7000 cap warehouse. The Prodigy’s last ever show as a full band, RIP Keith. Seeing Hybrid Minds and Netsky both sell out their “& Friends” tours in a crazy concept that we co-created Talk to us about the scene in NZ… What makes it special? I believe it’s the people. We are a country that punches above our weight in terms of population. We do it in sport, but more importantly we do it in drum and bass. There are a few things the artists always compliment, the energy and size of the crowds, the beautiful landscape the country has, and the hospitality that we provide. We pride ourselves on all three of those things at Audiology, we genuinely love the artists and consider them friends, so there’s a real family feel here in NZ and that makes it (extra) special. We want to know more about Castle Street… A small part of me wishes I went to university in Dunedin because holy damn they are wild. Those street parties are next level. Don’t get me wrong, I live vicariously through the artists we send down there and the amazing content we get, but it would be a different story flatting there and being deep amongst it. Castle Street has seen some things… You’ve got a UKF tour coming up, what can we expect? Indeed. This is a really special one for us – to understand the importance of this you’d have to go back to when I was DJing in the 2010 era and UKF was my life, so to be here 14 years later in partnership staying true to the brand (dubstep, DNB, all things bass) it feels authentically full circle. I love every single act on the bill and delivering multi-stage boutique festivals is what we do best. So what can you expect? Expect it all. We’d like to hear your opinions on small, grassroots promotions vs bigger productions, underground artists grow through smaller events but they can very rarely survive financially, and big raves are fantastic but what happens to the underground if they are the only viable events for promoters and ravers? I believe we have found a model that inadvertently answers this question. We operate as a grassroots promotion- which we genuinely are, but with big ambitions, goals and the drive of a big multi-national. We listen to what the people want, that’s our number one objective. So for that reason, we have never stopped delivering the underground club shows as we know the importance of them, not only for artists financially, but for how they feed our larger scale show offerings. I feel deep down people want unique, fun, inclusive experiences – they want to feel like they’re a part of something. That is what bass music is! If you think about it, where else can they display their love for the underground than at the live shows themselves. That’s the beautiful thing about what we do, we fill that gap in people’s lives allowing them to express who they are, our events are purely a vessel. By listening to what the people want, and staying true to the brand, you can create loyalty, which results in longevity, whether the shows are big or small.

Empire of the Sun Make Triumphant Return With First New Single in 8 Years, "Changes"
It's been nearly eight years since Empire of the Sun, the electropop duo behind "Walking on a Dream," have released a new solo single. But that all changed today after they dropped a euphoric track, "Changes," ushering in the pair's exciting return through ecstatic soundscapes and dreamlike vocals. Channeling that same breezy, walk-on-air energy, Empire of the Sun stay true to their signature style while leaping forward into a new chapter. It's an exploratory venture for the hit-making duo, whose storytelling comes alive in "Changes." "'Changes' was a breakthrough track for us," said Empire of the Sun's Luke Steele. "It felt like the moment of clarity when it became evident we were in the new era, our time of rebirth, the next chapter of Empire." Creative Tips From Kelly Badak, the Artist Translating Real-Life Rave Imagery Into Graphic Design
For Kelly Badak, the primal beats and retina-searing lasers of raves are more than just a backdrop for partying. They are the raw material fueling her creative process. Armed with a vast mental sketchbook unrestricted by spiral binding, Badak is a graphic designer translating the palpitating energy around her into digital brushstrokes for clients. She has garnered hundreds of thousands of followers on social media, where she unearths rare fonts that harken back to DIY punk and rave posters of yesteryear—a lost art after the advent of the digital era. After moving from Miami to The Big Apple three years ago, Badak enrolled in the Tribeca-based New York Law School, where she's studying IP and trademark law. Ahead of her graduation in May, she's studying for the grueling New York State bar exam and managing the balancing act of driving the business of her own creative design agency. It's a familiar struggle for many in her field. Client revisions, creative roadblocks and the gnawing pressure to deliver fresh ideas can leave even the most passionate designer feeling deflated. But for Badak, the frenetic energy of a rave is her antidote. Back in her home studio, the afterglow of the rave galvanizes her creativity. The faces, a mosaic of unfiltered joy, become the bedrock for her next project's mood board and kaleidoscopic visuals become a mesmerizing flow chart in her mind's eye. Badak traces her love of dance music back to 2013, when she watched Avicii and Hardwell tear up the stages of Ultra Music Festival in performances now considered iconic. Over a decade later, she prefers the ferocious, industrial sound of techno music, which she finds "soothing" while she works because it facilitates a full-blown descent into a stream of consciousness without the distraction of lyricism. View the original article to see embedded media. A lot of her work, she says, is inspired by the visuals she sees at shows. A performance by South African dance music icon Black Coffee was a particular touchstone, his sultry rhythms weaving a latticework with live visuals in ways she'd never seen. The same goes for a show headlined by the renowned Amê duo, whose visuals featured a spinning chrome ball that now serves as a wellspring for her own aesthetic. Badak isn't just replicating what she sees—she's attempting to capture the uninhibited movement and shared euphoria we all feel at raves but can't quite explain to our families at Thanksgiving dinner. And in that sense, her work is a testament to the transformative power of rave culture, a chrome-plated bridge between the unrestrained domain of electronic dance music and the structured world of graphic design. We caught up with Badak to peer through the looking glass of her creative process. In her own words, here are some creative tips for graphic designers to find inspiration in their work from the weird and wonderful world of electronic music. Immerse yourself within the atmosphereNext time you're at a rave, try to study the visual effects and lighting and notice how it connects and matches with the music. Lighting designers and VJs inspire me so much. Appreciate the visualsThere's nothing wrong with recording at a show for the sake of the beauty of the moment. I record mainly for the visuals to draw inspiration from later on when I'm working on my art. Try to recreate one visual as practice from a show you attendReally, the best way to improve your work is to practice. By recreating an artwork, with the addition of your own personal touch, you'll be able to really hone the skills you already possess and gain an understanding of the original artist's thought process. Practice by creating visual narrativesEvery track tells a story to evoke a certain emotion from its listeners. Try to come up with a design that complements a song you enjoy listening to by translating the emotions you feel into your artwork. Appreciate the sub-genres of EDMWhether it's industrial techno, trance, gabber, hardstyle or house, understanding the differences will help you design artwork more effectively for events regarding that specific genre. Pay attention to frequent color schemes, motifs and recurring imagery in the music's artwork. View the original article to see embedded media. Gather inspiration from event flyersTake notice of their use of fonts, color, imagery and overall tone of the artwork and how it aligns with the genre of music it's promoting. There are tons of websites with archived rave flyers from the 90s that I use to influence my work. Stay in tune with trendsKeep up with relevant blogs, social media accounts and other artists to stay informed about rising trends in the works and visual artworks of DJs. I like to attend shows regularly to observe how both DJs and their visual artists are improving and upgrading their work. Stay true to your own styleIt's important to be innovative in the work you produce, and it's equally as important to stay authentic to the energy that the music emanates. Try to avoid clichés and trite artwork elements, and aim to create artwork that resonates with its intended audience with the addition of your own personal flair.

Coachella to Livestream 6 Stages in 2024
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is opening its doors to the world via YouTube live stream. Goldenvoice just announced that both weekends of Coachella 2024 (April 12-14 and April 19-21) will be fully livestreamed on YouTube for anyone to watch from home. That’s right, you can experience pretty much the entire Coachella festival without ever setting foot in Indio. The official YouTube livestream at youtube.com/coachella will feature dedicated channels for 6 of the festival’s stages – Mainstage, Outdoor Theatre, Sahara, Mojave, Gobi, and Sonora. With multi-view capabilities, virtual attendees can watch up to 4 stages simultaneously to create their own customized streaming experience. In addition to live music, the YouTube stream will allow viewers to shop the latest exclusive Coachella merch drops and chat live with other fans around the world. The only caveat is that the festival’s new Quasar stage will not be included in the inaugural livestream. But frankly, with over 150 acts performing across 6 channels over two triple-decker weekends, there will be more than enough great music to go around online. Yuma and Do LaB also miss from the live-stream channels. This is a game-changing move that evolves Coachella from a single California event to a worldwide virtual experience. Music fans in Asia, Europe, South America, and beyond can finally watch their favorite acts at arguably the most prestigious festival from anywhere. At a time when the live music landscape is constantly shifting, livestreaming has become a necessity to expose festival lineups to massive global audiences. While nothing beats the energy of attending in-person, Coachella’s YouTube partnership allows everyone to get a taste of the desert action. Get ready to pack your virtual festival bags and clear your calendars later this month. Coachella is coming to a streaming screen near you! Micky Kasablanca's life changed in early-2024, when he was suddenly diagnosed with cancer. After his diagnosis and an emergency surgery, the Kasablanca duo adjusted their touring plans while Micky battled the cancer by undergoing aggressive chemotherapy regimen. At the end of February, he shared news of his completed treatment on social media but noted he still had a "long road to recovery as I wait for news of remission." A scheduled performance at the iconic Ultra Music Festival served as a light at the end of the tunnel for Micky during his treatments, he said. He reached his destination last month, taking the stage for a riveting performance and delivering one of the festival's more poignant moments. "While I was going through [treatment], I knew that when I was done, I would get to come here and play Ultra Miami with you guys and I can't tell you how happy I am that I made it here today," Micky said onstage. "I don't have a clean bill of health yet. I'm hoping to get that in two weeks, but we decided to call this song 'Remission' in hopes that I'm going to get it."
