  1. Following massive 2022 singles such as “Pieces” on Don Diablo’s HEXAGON and “Out Of My Mind” via Future House Music, EDM trailblazer Jay Hardway has landed on tastemaker label Actuation with “Call Me Anytime.” An infectious house single, that also saw Jay Hardway drop his phone number on social media and get on dozens of calls with fans, “Call Me Anytime” is a true testament to the producer and DJ’s dominance within the electronic music space. A tune that’s as perfect for the radio as it is for the festival stage, “Call Me Anytime” kicks off with minimalistic melodies and a catchy vocal sample, before groovy piano chords and unique synth melodies take over during the drop, making for a result which is bound to captivate millions of fans. Jay Hardway has established himself as one of the most prominent names within dance music over the past decade, with his sound having lit up festival stages across the globe. His 2013 collaboration with Martin Garrix, “Wizard,” earned him a lot of praise after landing at #1 on Beatport right after its release, and the pair followed up the success in 2016 with “Spotless.” Jay Hardway has also worked alongside the likes of Mike Cervello, Bassjackers and many others, while performing at Tomorrowland, Omnia Las Vegas, EDC New York and more. 2. Anyone who follows Lucille Croft is aware of her affinity for leather, and she’s finally written and released a song as an ode to the iconic fashion material through the ages. “Bury Me in Leather” is the second single off Lucille’s upcoming sophomore EP, The Valentine Effect. The song contains many elements from her musical influences, including Nine Inch Nails or The Prodigy. 808s and minimal techno and vocals, plus a little drum & bass at the end to add a significant edge to it all. Lucille says of the song, “BMIL might just be my favorite song I’ve made to date. It entails all of my favorite things – leather, blades, pleasure, 808s, a little drum & bass. I’ve been using my voice more in my music so I can better bring the characters in my songs to life, and I really love the persona in this song.” She continues, “[The persona] evolves into something more than human, she’s not really dying, she’s just becoming something more than her human body. The idea ‘let me rest in pleasure’ came to me years ago – I began to think about death differently. I’d much rather rest in ‘pleasure’ than peace, and be celebrated for my time here rather than mourned for being gone.” Check out the single below and stay tuned for The Valentine Effect, releasing in just a few weeks! 4. Shaman Durek has led a truly unique and remarkable career thus far. Being a 6th generation shaman, his teachings have impacted the masses, including Gwyneth Paltrow & Dave Asprey (Bulletproof Coffee). He’s also been inextricably tied to the rave scene for nearly 30 years, helping grow and promote parties from SF to NY, opening up others to experience the joy and excitement he gets from house music. He recently made his debut with his jackin’ house single with Green Velvet Flair titled, “My House”. It’s a tribute to the classic underground house roots of Chicago and Detroit that keeps you on your feet the whole way through. It also invokes an old moniker of Durek’s – The Jack Instigator – a nickname granted by the DJs from his eccentricity when MCing at the parties he would throw, notorious for keeping the people dancing (and off the couches) all night long. “Dancing to music unlocks certain aspects of our consciousness. It offers this experience of love and connection, and also can give us the strength to forge through difficult times. I wanted to bring this feeling back in the spirit of The Jack Instigator. So, when you listen to “My House”, or when you come to my house, you better dance!” – Shaman Durek He’s invited iconic artists to provide their own flips of the song in incredible fashion from the likes of DJ Sneak, Blakkat, Eric D Clark, and Single Cell Orchestra. Listening to these remixes, it’s impossible not to feel like you’re being transported back to the paradise garage, dancing and sweating it out to this beat of this captivating track. “it was an absolute pleasure to write some music and remix Shaman’s energetic message about the place we call “House Music” – DJ Sneak Listen below! 5. To this day, house music is a worldwide phenomenon. By constantly incorporating new elements and styles, dance music has managed to maintain its vitality and vibrancy in the face of time. One such creative person is Seramasamy. Despite his brief career, Seramasamy has been lauded for his music and charisma. Seramasamy is a deep and future house DJ who draws inspiration from the greats of the genre. He has a serious passion for house music. He draws on his familiarity with many house styles to create music that sounds both modern and timeless, with deep bass and catchy melodies that point toward the future. Many of Seramasamy’s most popular and groundbreaking songs, such as “Make It Right,” “Lipstick Stains,” and “Why Don’t You Stay,” were written and published by him. Sixty thousand streams of “Why Don’t You Stay” were logged in just two months. The song’s rhythms, beats, and message have been praised by house music fans all around the world. His second track, “Make It Right,” hit the top spot on Spinnin’ Records’ Talent Pool and has been streamed over 50,000 times on Spotify. Through his music, Seramasamy vividly depicts narratives. Music, in his opinion, is one of the most effective means of expression since it can transmit meaning quickly. Through his work, he spreads awareness about house music. He uses the power of music to inspire and uplift others. His most introspective songs often deal with the raw emotions that come to the surface in romantic partnerships, and he hopes that his music can be therapeutic for its listeners. Without encouragement from others or the internet, Seramasamy found it difficult to write music. Despite knowing exactly what sonic attributes he intended to accomplish in his tracks, no one could help Seramasamy get them. The majority of his knowledge in electronic music was acquired via self-study. Seramasamy has tried out a wide variety of musical genres before settling on his signature approach. Despite the difficulty and frustration, Seramasamy is happy he persevered because of the newfound knowledge and appreciation for dance music that resulted. With his innovative style mashups, he left an indelible mark on the international dance music scene. Seramasamy just recently began releasing music, but he already has a dedicated following. He has over 50,000 monthly Spotify subscribers and is getting close to 1,000,000 total listens, making him one of the fastest-growing house musicians in the country. To keep the deep and future house music scene thriving, he plans to create and develop more new material. Over the next several years, Seramasamy hopes to encourage more people to follow their dreams via the medium of house music. He recommends that aspiring musicians and vocalists put time and effort into building a strong online presence and learning on their own. According to Seramasamy, the best way to develop an own musical style is to study and experiment with a variety of sounds. This article was first published on Your EDM. 8. Almost two years ago, Daft Punk announced they were officially breaking up in a truly bombastic fashion. Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, apart from their work in the iconic duo, have both offered their services as paramount producers and musicians in other fashions in the past. Now, two years hence, Bangalter is releasing his first solo orchestral work, Mythologies. It is his first independent orchestral work, initially commissioned by the choreographer Angelin Preljocaj for the ballet of the same name and premiered by the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine under the direction of Romain Dumas. His last traditional solo album, Outrage, came out in 2003, between the releases of Discovery and Human After All with Guy-Manuel. According to the press release — “The form, the stakes and the creative process involved in Mythologies are all radically different and represent a new stage in Bangalter’s development over the last thirty years of writing, composing and performing music, during which time he has explored the world of technology and the relationship between humankind and machines in his seminal work with Daft Punk. This score does not draw on the resources of electronic music but instead involves the large-scale traditional force of a symphony and, as such, it embraces the history of orchestral ballet music in a gesture that is both personal and collaborative.” Pre-order and learn more here: https://w.lnk.to/mythologies. 9. The great thing about DLR’s Sofa Sound imprint and its A&R is that, just like DLR himself, there’s always a sense of fun and funk built into every track. From the release art to the sound design to even the deepest, heaviest tracks still being a bit of a bop, there’s a playfulness there that gives Sofa its mass appeal while still being technically spot-on. With their new collab EP Fresh Cutz due out tomorrow, January 25, Iris and Sweetpea have more than embraced that fun side to beatmaking with a collection of fast, funky rollers. Most US heads will know Iris from her work with Quadrant. Together they’ve been one of the few US acts to trapse the hazardous atlantic connection and earn top billing with UK labels, releasing on the likes of Delta9, C4C, CIA Dispatch, Shogun and many more over their long tenure in the scene. Iris has also done her fair share of solo work but seems to be really going for it in the last couple years, with one of the first branch-out tracks, appropriately enough, being with Sweetpea on DLR’s Sofa King Sick Chapter 3 compilation. Sweetpea is another D&B lifer who’s been making tracks since 2016 and has quickly become a mainstay of Sofa Sound and Bcee’s Spearhead Records while also releasing tracks on Dispatch, Hospital and Addictive Behaviour. She’s also part of the powerful London women’s collective, EQ50, who work to give equal opportunity to all artists in drum & bass. Known to neuro with the grimiest of them but also able to make a killer vocal track, if you’re a stateside head who hasn’t heard Sweetpea’s discography yet, it’s time to get to Googling. Iris, Sweetpea and DLR have chosen a cool format for Fresh Cutz: there are two true collab track where both the artists worked on them and two where it’s just Iris or Sweetpea. This is fun for the tech heads because audiences can really hear each artist’s individual style right alongside their fused work. It makes for an interesting study in how collabs are made. The collab tracks are the title track, a jumpy throwback of a deep roller that’s as fast as is it minimal on sound design and last week’s teaser track, “DFS.” “DFS” has a similar snare-focused, fast-moving beat structure but lands more on the dark than the deep side, especially when the tempo changes to a fast version of dubstep at the break. EP opener “Not Even a Big Up” is Iris’s track. Continuing the rolling drum motif, this track still has the throwback cachet both she and Sweetpea love, but Iris have her track an extra, oh-so-subtle injection of rave in the sound design. It’s just a hint of musicality and a few mid-90s samples, but it makes a difference and carves out Iris’s own style while staying true to the theme of the EP. Similarly, Sweetpea’s “Duck Funk,” our YEDM premiere today, is quick and tom-forward in its rolling drums a’la the rest of the EP but it’s got loads of spooky, almost ominous sound design. A canned, low-reg synth does a lot of the work in this track: it carries the music while connecting to the drums, and then drops back in the break to the background, where it becomes even more canned and echoey. This break bit may technically be the most interesting part of the track because that synth never leaves and is never really in the background. The form it takes in the afore-mentioned break makes it sound like it’s being played at a club behind closed doors. It grows fainter, but you never stop paying attention to it. It comes back in via a swooping sinewave that brings the listener into the rave with it. The magic of rave is encapsulated in that moment; we’ve all felt it, but it’s impossible to describe. Luckily, Sweetpea caught it in a mixdown for us. Sofa Sound Bristol · Sweetpea – Duck Funk – [Your EDM Premiere] It’s clear that Sweetpea and Iris have a shared vision for their work, and in Fresh Cutz it intersects at rolling drums, minimal sound design, deep synths and, of course, rave. Bring in the fun and funky side with Sofa Sound, and this EP is as truly fresh as it is timeless. Fresh Cutz drops tomorrow, January 25 on Sofa Sound. Click here to pre-order or pre-save. 10. Among the most loved and played music genres is electronic dance music. Its popularity has recorded tremendous growth in recent years. In the mid-’90s, when electronic music was introduced, many people did not like it as much as they do today. But there are still singers and music producers like Brauch and fans who greatly appreciated the sound and steered it into the mainstream, where it can be heard today. Brauch has always been a big supporter and lover of the electronic music genre. His undying love and passion for music emerged when he was still a child. At that time, Brauch would create mash-ups of his songs to entertain himself and his friends. As he grew up, he realized that he was born for this. As a teenager, his crazy love for music made him order bootlegged CDs imported from Europe. His expertise started growing when he opted to start working as a DJ at small parties in the streets of LA. As his passion grew, so did his expertise in this game. He later landed more gigs to play at more events, but contrary to his expectations, the crowd wasn’t ready for this. He continued to toil until a particular club recognized his talent and decided to give him a chance. He played on Mondays, which was the club’s slowest night. Brauch’s first performance was not a success. Only twenty people turned up at the club. Sadly, most of them were his friends. This, however, did not discourage the electronic music enthusiast. He improved the quality of his music mixes day by day, and he never failed to show up every Monday night to play his part. And indeed, his hard work and determination finally started bearing fruit. Huge queues began forming around the block on Monday nights. Brauch’s hard work has paid off tremendously. He currently makes electronic music in collaboration with multiple A-list personalities, and today, Brauch has a whopping 20,000 Spotify listeners each month. Over recent years, Brauch has partnered with various music groups in some of his tracks. His current releases, “Heartbreak”, “Do You Feel It”, “Party is over”, “Take It”, have gained traction among his fans and lovers of electronic music. The once small parties he would DJ in the streets of LA have given way to Brauch hanging out with big names in the music industry, the likes of Asap Rocky, Future, Playboi Cardi, Migos, 21 Savage, and so many other artists. Brauch wants everyone out there to believe in themselves, especially the younger generation. According to him, you need to live to dream. Everyone with a dream of making it in life should create a concrete plan that will push and steer them to be better versions of themselves. Find what your heart loves and do it with passion. And finally, Brauch says that you should persevere and push yourself just like he did, even when no one was particularly interested in his mixes and songs. 11. Spotify employees were alerted this morning to the news that the company would be slashing its workforce to offset higher costs in 2022. “To offer some perspective on why we are making this decision, in 2022, the growth of Spotify’s OPEX outpaced our revenue growth by 2X,” CEO Daniel Ek wrote in a letter spelling out other organizational changes taking place. “That would have been unsustainable long-term in any climate, but with a challenging macro environment, it would be even more difficult to close the gap. As you are well aware, over the last few months we’ve made a considerable effort to rein-in costs, but it simply hasn’t been enough. So while it is clear this path is the right one for Spotify, it doesn’t make it any easier—especially as we think about the many contributions these colleagues have made.” Over the past three months, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Salesforce and Meta have all made announcements to cut employees from their respective ranks, with over 50,000 people affected. According to a report by Insider, an average 1,600 tech workers have been laid off every day of 2023 so far. Writes CNN, “Spotify reported a loss of €228 million ($248 million) in its most recent financial quarter through September 30, as operating expenses shot up by 65%, according to a company presentation to investors.” Spotify is currently trending on Twitter, with reports of the layoffs continuing to disseminate especially as employees take to the platform to announce their fates, as we’ve become oddly familiar with seeing this year already. For end users, this latest round of layoffs will likely not affect their daily listening experience. However, the overall landscape of tech at the moment sheds some questions around how sustainable current systems in place will fare with global economic constraints. 12. Not often lately do you see a collaboration with three absolute legends like Emalkay, The Others, and Subscape. More recently, we’ve been witness to a more common trend of established producers bringing in a newer act and combining their influences. For these three, who have all been active in dubstep for the better part of 15 years, “Inside My Head” was “long overdue.” “We thought it was a collaboration long overdue,” they said, “so we mashed out some beats together one day and before we knew it we eventually ended up with a huge body of work with this being one of our favourite tracks. We are thrilled to finally have it out there and on the legendary Deadbeats label too! We hope you enjoy it.” My first time hearing of Subscape was 2012’s “Kick the Flow” on Caspa’s Dub Police label, while you can turn to Emalkay for any number of iconic hits like “Fabrication” or “When I Look At You,” ironically also released on Dub Police. And, wouldn’t you guess it, The Others also got his start on Dub Police, notably releasing “Africa VIP” in 2008, which you might recognize from FabricLive.37 by Caspa and Rusko. So, when they say this collaboration was long overdue, they mean like 15 years overdue. Fortunately, it does not disappoint in the slightest. Reminiscent of old school dub, from the schools and fandom that made them iconic in the first place, “Inside My Head” is lush with deep bass and wonderful melody, punchy drums, and a memorable vocal that would have any crowd screaming their lungs out. Finally, and perhaps best of all, the trio have a full collaborative EP coming out in March. Check out the first single, “Inside My Head,” below, out now on Deadbeats. 13. We already know Skrillex has a ton of new music coming this year, with three singles already released this month, including “Rumble.” On the way, we know there’s a Missy Elliott and Mr. Oizo collaboration coming, and he just showed off an unreleased ISOxo collaboration live in Bangkok this past weekend. A clip was posted in the Skrillex subreddit by u/vuthasear last night, with more clips available in the comments if you visit the page below. Once again, elements of that iconic, “yes, oh my god” sample make it into the mix, but it’s unclear if that’s something he’s cueing live or if it will be in the final release (most likely the former). Otherwise, you can make out clear elements of influence from each producer in the mix that might still be unfinished, or perhaps just unpolished ahead of release. Unlike past years when we’d get IDs from Skrillex live sets, you can be fairly confident in 2023 that anything new he plays live, we’re going to get at some point. Check out the clip below! okay, this is the last one from me. Skrillex & ISOxo – ID live in Bangkok…yup, i wouldn’t shut up from skrillex This article was first published on Your EDM. 14. Following a number of collaborations with the likes of DJ duo Cayo, Energy Deejays, Raphy J and many more, charismatic singer and songwriter Eirini has just made the first step in her blossoming solo artist career. The half Greek-Cypriot and half British-Irish talent started her music journey at a young age and has been performing at the biggest theatres in the UK since she was 14 years old. Now based in Dubai, she has been establishing herself in the UAE since 2019, performing at massive venues across the country such as Atlantis The Palm, Soho Garden, White Dubai, Iris and Expo 2020, among others. The first taste of her debut EP, slated for release later this year, “Shy” marks Eirini’s first solo single and it’s a colossal one at that. Produced by and co-written with Raphy J, “Shy” draws inspiration from acts like Majid Jordan and Victoria Monet, that combine futuristic synth sounds and funky drums with R&B melodies. Featuring Eirini’s heavenly singing voice right up front, the record is a stunning combination between pop and R&B, and an impressive for Eirini to kick off 2023. 15. Nicky Romero is back with his first release of 2023, “Only for the Night,” a brooding but sultry dark-progressive house heater. “Only for the Night” comes under Nicky’s Monocule alias, for this one he teams up with Australian producer Marcus Santoro and the up and coming production duo Higher Lane. After a year in which Nicky Romero dabbled in all genres of music from house to progressive to even techno, “Only for the Night” seems like a perfect place to pick up in 2023. “Only for the Night ” features a lot of the hallmarks of a Monocule track. Little buildup, sultry female vocals over the slowly building synths and percussion in the background, before they explode into an intoxicating blend of pads, horn synths, and a perfect melody to get you moving. The vocals while supremely confident, are actually desperate. The singer knows what she wants, and if it’s only for one night, well that’s just fine. 16. Dada Life are back with a new single on a new label, and we are here for it. The iconic Swedish duo just released “Take Me Into Space” along with upcoming Chinese producer DEXTER KING. “Take Me Into Space” will do just that as Dada Life foray into the big room techno scene with this huge new track. This track has all the hallmarks of the big room techno that has been taking over; a massive kick drum, a pulsating bassline, and those light melodic synths that remind you, you’re at a festival. “Take Me Into Space” also marks Dada Life’s first release on a different label since they founded their own Crash & Smile sub-label. This time, they’ve released their first ever track on Monstercat, a label well known for stepping outside of the mainstream and curating a variety of different sounds. As the press release I received for this song pointed out, Dada Life rarely do collabs (which seems impossible in modern dance music), so “Take Me Into Space” is a rare treat. As Olle and Stefan put it, “The aim with this song was to make something that could shatter the Earth and lift you to the sky like a rocket, because when that happens, you can’t stop smiling.” DEXTER KING adds, “If life is as short as a song, we shall waste no time on earth.” Check out the latest from Dada Life & DEXTER KING, “Take Me Into Space” out now on Monstercat. 17. Afrojack and one of his main proteges, Chico Rose, are back with another infectious house single, “Alone Again.” Showing off their production versatility, “Alone Again” is a catchy-as-hell house track with a bouncy bassline during the drop. “Alone Again” also features top notch vocals from Mougleta that everyone can relate too. The two Dutch DJs first collaborated back in 2016 on “The Great Escape” when Chico was going by Ravitez. The two have been close collaborators ever since. After rebranding as Chico Rose, he and Afrojack released “The Bass” in 2019, a towering festival anthem that still goes hard in Afrojack’s sets. “Alone Again” also marks the first time that Chico Rose has been the main artist on a collab between him and Afrojack. 18. Earlier this week, ILLENIUM announced his fifth album, the self-titled ILLENIUM, would be dropping in April. It didn’t take long before he dropped his next single, as well, “Luv Me A Little” with Nina Nesbitt. After saying that he’s going back to exploring his “original musical aspirations” with this album, “Luv Me A Little” is definitely that classic ILLENIUM sound with melodic vocals, a melodic bass sound, as well as second drop that’s a bit heavier. Also today, ILLENIUM announced his massive 2023 headlining world tour ILLENIUM LIVE. Throughout the year, he will take his biggest and boldest blockbuster live set on the road through North America, Europe, and Australia. 19. The rivalry between Dillon Francis and DJ Hanzel grows with each passing day, especially since, according to their Twitter exchanges, it seems Dillon forced Hanzel’s hands into releasing his album potentially a bit earlier than he’d hoped. (Of course, this is all in good fun, right?) DJ Hanzel, the house alias of Dillon, has been releasing music for years as a wonderfully tongue-in-cheek alter ego. Finally, the project’s debut album anti everything has dropped on streaming services after striking up a deal with Create Music Group this past December. “Since time immemorial, peasants, rubes and all-around losers have attempted, but never achieved, going ‘ONE DEEPER,'” Hanzel said. “In this rich tradition, we bear witness to Dillon Francis falling short of my sublime depth. Like some kind of musical gladiator, I have slayed my inferior rival Dillon Francis, and he must now accept his defeat and with it, his new moniker I have bestowed upon him: Der Pottyman. Of course I will go on to celebrate joining the Create Music family, and I will do so with dignity and grace, while Der Pottyman languishes in artistic banality. For it is truly an honor for me to embark on a new journey going one deeper with the amazing team at Create Music Group.” Unfortunately, the album only clocks in at just under 30 minutes with just 8 tracks. That being said, they’re all hits. Check out the album below! This article was first published on Your EDM. Source: DJ Hanzel finally releases his debut album, “anti everything”

This energetic duo has shocked massive crowds with performances at Spring Awakening, North Coast Music Festival, EDC Orlando, and other prime venues. Now, the bros are back with a thundering EP titled ‘Classiv V Future’, showcasing a strong juxtaposition of classic house and electronic music elements with modern production techniques and sounds. “Revival” kicks off the EP with a gritty bass house sound, a mix between Mord Fustang and Joyride, joined by vocalist Jenni Rudolph who provides an ethereal performance on top. What follows is the title track, which overflows with bass shattering sounds and spine tingling dubstep energy that bring the headbanging vibes to the fullest.Next up is “Handle Ya Business”, a sizzling drum & bass tune that features invigorating rhymes from revered artist Dread MC. The EP closes out with “Let Go”, a fun and funky house anthem that showcases the tantalizing vocals of LeSage.Williams. We also had a chance to chat with the guys about this EP and what’s next for them. Enjoy! How long has this EP been in the works? This EP has been in the works for about a year and a half. We’ve worked on other music in that time as well, but getting all the right pieces in place for this EP, including vocalists, a 3d artist, etc took a lot longer than expected. We think the time was well spent, because this EP turned out fantastic. What are some of the key messages you hope listeners get out of this EP? This is our first EP, celebrating 5 years of the Birthdayy Partyy project. The whole concept of the project since its outset is the melding of elements of music we grew up on with what we see as the current and future sounds of electronic music. Classic techniques like sampling in specific ways to emulate the technology available when electronic music was first rising to prominence, sounds from old drum machines and analog synths, and pulling from the city of Chicago’s rich history as the birthplace of house music, while using more modern production techniques and sounds, like the heavy processing and interesting sound design of dubstep and drum and bass, to complement them is where we’ve found our vibe. Its all about the juxtaposition of new and old, timeless and right-now, hence the name Classic V Future Its also kind of a turning point for us, touching on the sound of our musical direction going forward, while also leaning on what’s gotten us this far. We’ve been slowly stripping things back as we’ve gotten better as producers, and I think we’ve really honed in on what we as a duo want to do. This is really the first step we’re taking with that kind of confidence. Who are some artists that are inspiring you right now? Probably our biggest inspirations right now are Knock2 and ISOXO. Musically, they’re obviously incredible, and we’re loving that they’re getting the attention they deserve. But there’s more to the reason why they’re inspiring us so much right now than just their music. They have a level of camaraderie and cooperation with each other that we find extremely inspiring. They’re always working with each other, and even remixed each other’s EP’s and released them together. Having supportive peers in the music industry helps so much, but these guys took it to a completely different level. That’s basically how it is working with your twin brother, so we feel like they would kind of “get us’ in that sense. We’ve also been really inspired by a lot of drum and bass. We’ve been big fans of the genre since we were 22 or 23, driving home to our parents house after staying out way too late at a club, and the only thing that would keep us awake that late was some good ol’ DnB. The US is having a bit of a resurgence of the genre too, so we’ve gotten to finally see some of our favorite acts of the genre live. Its also been really cool to watch our friend CLB get the kind of exposure he has within the international DnB community. He was making breaks when met, and he’s come so far that his sound pretty regularly inspires us, and there’s really no cooler feeling than getting inspired by your friends. Speaking of friends that are also some of our biggest inspirations right now, Odd Mob has been absolutely slaying it and there’s no way he’s slowing down at all. he spent a few extra days with us in Chicago when he played here at Spybar, and we hammered out a track with him while he was here that we’re really excited about. What’s on the horizon for you guys in 2023? We’re going to be hosting a remix competition for the EP, then we have our yearly event Birthdayy Partyy’s Birthday Party coming up in March, which we think we finally have a perfect venue for the “boiler room style” 360 setup we’ve always wanted for this shindig. There’s really nothing like playing a set IN the crowd instead of in front of it on a stage. We’ve got tons of music coming as well. I think we have about 40 tracks in the vault currently, ranging from “almost playable and need a test with a live audience” to “completely finished and waiting on label contracts”, so its going to be a VERY busy year for us. Come along for the ride, and let’s Partyy! This article was first published on Your EDM. Source: Birthdayy Partyy Unveil Thunderous EP, ‘Classic V Future’ + Interview
  24. Niko The Kid has been creating a refreshing concoction of house, tech house and hip-hop tracks since he was 18 years old. He quickly found success working with Akon, Young Thug and Gucci Mane just to name a few. Since then, Niko has produced and written on Odesza’s “Higher Ground”, NBA Youngboy, collaborated with Throttle and has contributed official remixes to artists including Bazzi, Yo Gotti, Miley Cyrus, Tinashe and Parson James. Niko even has original releases on Oliver Helden’s Heldeep records, Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak, Spinnin, Armada, and Medium Rare. He’s achieved so much thus and shows no signs of slowing down. Today, Niko is teaming up with MAYLYN for their anthemic single “Only One” that feels like a instant timeless hit. Backed by swaying percussion and a rumbling bassline, MAYLYN’s sensational vocals sit on top, lifting this song in wonderful ways. Here’s what Niko had to say about it: “Maylyn and I first met up over zoom during the covid lockdown days back in 2020. We wanted to create something haunting and dark. Initially, we wrote it at a much slower tempo which lent itself to the writing process. I was really inspired by the Freemasons version of Alanis Morissette’s “Uninvited” which had this big beautiful string arrangement. So after recording all the vocals on her end, I locked myself in and started drafting the strings. I think I spent about a week programming the individual violins, violas, cellos, etc. After that, I sped it up and filled it out with drums, bass, and all. This may be my favorite record I’ve done to date.” Listen below! This article was first published on Your EDM. Source: Niko The Kid & MAYLYN Drop Anthemic Single, “Only One”
