Zedd sells incredible Beverly Hills mansion for $18.4M to ‘black-ish’ creator
When Zedd bought his extravagant Beverly Hills mansion back in 2018, he had a grand time showing everyone his sparkling new property. Initially purchased for $16 million, the 9,400-square-foot house has plenty of open space, high ceilings, and all the amenities you could wish for. “He even has a room he calls his ‘Costco’ room for the specific purpose of stockpiling enough things that he never has to leave his house,” Your EDM wrote. Toward the middle of 2021, after adding about 1,600 sq ft to the property, he put the house on the market for for $26.5 million, adding around $10 million to the market price from when he first purchased it. Since then, it’s sat on the market until earlier this month, when it sold for $18.4 million to writer/producer/director Kenya Barris, known for “Black-ish,” “Girls Trip,” “Grown-ish” and the recently released Netflix film “You People.” Zedd still has some pretty sick digs though, in another house he purchased from Joe Jonas in 2020 for $15 million. via Dirt, H/T EDM.com | Photo via Rukes.com This article was first published on Your EDM. ODESZA surprise fans with new song that didn’t make the last album, “Hopeful”
For the last two and a half months, most of the electronic music community has been consumed by Skrillex and his unrelenting domination over the news cycle. He was dropping singles every week, announced an album, announced a show at Madison Square Garden, sold it out, dropped the album, played a show in Times Square, played the show at MSG, dropped another album mid-show. It was unavoidable. But from the beginning of the year we’ve known that there is so much more. Beyond the albums we know and are looking forward to, the wheels keep turning — cue ODESZA, who this morning surprised fans with a release of “Hopeful,” a track they say didn’t make it onto their last album but “encapsulated our time away from the world while writing the record.” This one never made the album but we always felt it was special and in a way encapsulated our time away from the world while writing the record. Hopeful is out now.https://t.co/Vq1ulPAulz — ODESZA (@odesza) February 21, 2023 The song feels similar to many of the synth-laden masterpieces of early M83, with echoing voices and slowly evolving melodies until the full weight of the emotion of the sounds crashes down. As the title suggests, it truly is a song that fills the listener with a feeling of deep hope and possibility. Listen below. Rising Label Frequency Music Is Championing The Next Wave Of Independent Musicians
Championing the next wave of emerging talents, Frequency is establishing itself as a powerful player within the independent label space, having just launched a custom YouTube Content ID system and expanded with a new publishing arm. The tastemaker imprint’s early days date back to 2013, when founder Kelvin Ruijters noticed a lack of availability of royalty free music online. Aiming to tackle this problem and provide the next wave of creators with music they could use without the fear of copyright complications, he launched Frequency. Almost 10 years later, the label is sticking to its mantra to explore, create and share music together. Since its humble beginnings, Frequency has evolved into two separate imprints, alongside a freshly-launched publishing arm. One of Frequency Music’s earliest success stories became EDM star Arc North, who has amassed tens of millions of global streams across his catalog, as well 700,000 fans and videos that have been viewed over 110 million times. Talented artists such as Rival, Cadmium and Jon Becker followed suit, who took advantage of Frequency’s prioritization of artist development, visual identification and musical quality. Over the past couple of years the company’s Frequency Recordings arm set its sights in recruiting talent outside of the electronic music world, helping launch the careers of artists such as singer/songwriter Euan Allison, whose soothing, debut EP ‘Lights Off’ amassed over 8 million streams and enjoyed massive support from digital platforms. Building long-term relationships with artists who rather fall into the pop or indie world, Frequency Recordings is not bound by specific genres, championing emerging talent no matter their musical background or identity. One of Frequency Recordings’ latest releases was Jack Shore’s debut EP ‘Can We Stay Here Forever,’ which saw him step into his own as an artist first. Collaborating with Michael Shynes to unveil four dancefloor-ready and synthwave-infused radio hits, Jack Shore solidified himself as a talent to watch under Frequency, and set himself up for long-term success. Frequency has jumped headfirst into 2023, having recently launched its custom YouTube Content ID system, which will allow artists and labels to` seamlessly handle their digital rights management on YouTube. Frequency’s built-in system recognizes videos of content creators and monetizes those who did not credit properly, while giving 24-hour support to clients in a joint-venture with We Are Era B.V. While the growing company is aiming to become a true competitor to all the widely-known and respected (major) labels that are dominating the business, their early values still remain: help innovative music shine and cultivate a strong community. Hardwell and Will Sparks Team Up on “Twisted”
2023 seems to be the year of breaking the mold. That couldn’t be more true with the release of this new collaboration “Twisted” from Hardwell and Will Sparks. If a collaboration from these two came out 5-7 years back, it would most likely sounded like a mix of synth-blaring big room house with the rubber-band beat and bass line of a Melbourne bounce tune. But in current year, both of these artist’s are in very different places. For one, Hardwell took a massive break from touring and signaled his return with his sophomore album. Since then, he’s dropped a few new singles and remixes and even a Dance Dance Revolution inspired track. Meanwhile, Will Sparks has ventured into sub-genres that have taken him beyond Melbourne’s scene. We’re talking some psytrance, hardstyle, and festival-style house. But where these two intersect is in the growing sound of main-stage techno and that is where “Twisted” comes into play. For old-school ravers, they might be reminded of 2007 classic “Your Mind is Twisted” hook from Greg, Jeroenski, and Roog. The song had such a grip in the early 2010s that even Fedde Le Grand couldn’t help adding his own spin on it in 2014. But unlike the original’s glitchy, electro-house grit, Hardwell and Will Sparks concoct a modern techno avalanche. The drum beat is cacophonous and met with these tactile synths. As they meet up with the hi-hats, “Twisted” becomes a bellowing beast that becomes a perfect fit for rage-ready audiences. Make sure to check out “Twisted” by Hardwell and Will Sparks on Revealed Records out now. This article was first published on Your EDM. Source: Hardwell and Will Sparks Team Up on “Twisted”

David Guetta and Marten Horger Team Up for Club Ready Track “The Freaks”
David Guetta has expanded his Future Rave sound to incorporate bass house titan Marten Horger into their latest single “The Freaks.” Featuring a blending of Guetta’s iconic future rave energy into a more condensed bass house package, “The Freaks” is a tune that is sure to have everyone grooving on the dancefloor. Every time they hear this song, the freaks come out. Featuring a dark, distorted vocal refrain, acid-like synths and a bassline that’s made for the afterhours, “The Freaks” is a track that is sure to light up many dancefloors, large and small. “The Freaks” has that underground sensibility of a Guetta Future Rave track, but has that nice modern bassline and rocking rhythm courtesy of Marten Horger. Ryan Farish presents the “Embers and Light” album
Multi instrumentalist, producer Ryan Farish presents “Embers and Light,” a 14 track chill electronic album, mixing digital with the sound of the violin, for an ethereal listening experience. What makes the album special is the inspiration behind it. Farish says the album was created during an intensely inspired season for him, during which he reconnected with the very first instrument he learned to play as a young musician, the violin. In addition to the violin, Ryan also used Moog’s reissued Model D, which adds to the warmth and emotions of the album. I have always been fascinated with recorded music, in that recordings are a timeless representation of where an Artist is creatively, in a specific moment in time. In many ways, they are time capsules. Moments frozen in time, recorded music allows us to look both forward and back in time, through the music captured in these moments. “Skylight” really captures the essence of where I am artistically in the most present moment, and was the most recent song I recorded for my upcoming album, ‘Embers and Light’,” Farish says. Skrillex just surprise dropped his second album of the year from Madison Square Garden
Skrillex just dropped his first album in nine years, Quest For Fire, yesterday. The same day, he, Four Tet, and Fred again.. played an unannounced pop up from a school bus in the middle of Times Square in New York the day before their show at Madison Square Garden, which they announced three days ahead of time and sold out within three minutes. Just now, while the trio are literally on stage at one of the most iconic venues in the world, he surprised us all with the release of his second album, Don’t Get Too Close. I think I speak for all of us when I say, “Are you f*cking for real right now?” But rest assured, this is real life. With an almost decade-long album drought, within 48 hours, Skrillex has dropped two brand new albums. Yes, some old singles sneak their way in but let’s be honest, none of us are complaining. Compared to Quest For Fire, Don’t Get Too Close is far more focused on pop and hip hop, with collaborators including PinkPantheress, Trippie Redd, Yung Lean, Bladee, Kid Cudi, Chief Keef, Swae Lee, Bibi Bourelly, Justin Bieber, and Don Toliver. And then there’s Anthony Green, the frontman for Circa Survive and Saosin? We don’t question Skrillex, we’re really just letting this all happen and we’re okay with it. Listen below. ROSSY releases debut EP ‘HEAVENS DOOR’ on HARD Recs
It’s always a treat when you manage to catch an artist in their growth phase. Seeing their hard work begin to come to fruition, their talent blossoming, gaining recognition from both peers and fans — it’s rarer than you might think, as so many people only tend to find artists after they’ve hit their prime. When we put ROSSY on our Artists To Watch in 2021 list, she had only released a couple handfuls of singles, but the recognition was growing. She had gone from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of plays, found friendship and collaboration with Pauline Herr, and was still self-releasing many of her solo singles. A little over two years later, she has put out her debut EP, HEAVENS DOOR, with HARD Recs, and has some of the most successful and meaningful songs of her career. HEAVENS DOOR starts off with her show opener, a fan favorite for months, “ANTHEM,” that proudly shouts — “It’s mothaf*ckin ROSSY” — yes it is. ROSSY gives fans a window into what makes the project so special: “I wanted to wait to make an EP until it felt like I could fully give the world the realest representation of myself, a true piece of me. I wanted to make sure it was so special for all of the lovely people who take their time to support and stream me. I wanted everything from the music, the art, the rollout, and the branding to feel so special and so true to me.” Listen below. This article was first published on Your EDM. Skrillex’s first album in 9 years is literally everything we wanted
I remember exactly where I was when I heard Skrillex for the first time. It was 2010, I was in my sophomore dorm in college, sitting at my desk probably perusing Earmilk at the time, and came upon “Rock ‘n’ Roll (Will Take You to the Mountain).” Up to then, I’d only dabbled in EDM, listening to some of the big names at the time like deadmau5, The Prodigy, Daft Punk, and some odd ones out like Rusko or Pendulum. But that song did something to me that opened a door to an almost decade-long career and experiences that I wouldn’t trade for anything. For a lot of people, Skrillex is that artist that inspired them, that opened the door and showed them something different. Absolutely, there were others before him and there will be others after him, but his legacy on the culture of dance music can never, ever be understated. Now, here we are, nine years since his last album, Recess, years and years after hearing, “We’re getting the album this year… maybe next year… maybe next year…” It is worth the wait. Quest For Fire is the first of two albums we’re getting from Skrillex this year, and allegedly the harder of the two. It’s rife with collaborations, featuring names from Fred again.. and Four Tet to Joker, Missy Elliott & Mr. Oizo, Starrah, Nai Barghouti, Aluna and Kito, and excitedly Porter Robinson. And yet, despite the incredible amount of artists on the album, not to mention the caliber of those artists, this sounds like a Skrillex album. His sonic signature is present and palpable throughout every track. From the little sample callbacks to his earlier tracks (“Yes, oh my god!”) to his iconic vocal chops, and most of all the cleanest production you’ll ever hear, mixed and mastered to perfection. On top of some previously released singles like “Butterflies,” “TOO BIZARRE” (which gets a new “juked” version with Posij), and “Supersonic,” and of course “Rumble,” all of the new songs bring some aspect of Skrillex into play. “Tears” with Joker and Sleepnet is sure to be a fan favorite, as well as “Inhale Exhale” and “Hydrate” with Flowdan, BEAM, and PEEKABOO. “Good Space” also reuses some elements from “Face My Fears” with Utada Hikaru, while “Still Here” with Porter Robinson and Bibi Bourelly uses elements of “Language.” It’s an album representative of past, present, and future and it’s so brilliantly and expertly crafted. It was worth the nine years. Listen below. Photo via Marilyn Hue This article was first published on Your EDM. Source: Skrillex’s first album in 9 years is literally everything we wanted

Crankdat’s newest single “Move Back” with Savage is a surefire festival anthem
Crankdat is one of the few producers who truly never misses. His newest track “Move Back” with Savage is reminiscent of the festival hit by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike vs W&W, “Crowd Control,” at least as far as giving instructions to the crowd goes. Beyond that, it’s a devastating bass house banger. “The demo of this song was originally titled “Ride the Bull,” because to me it sounded like some Spanish Mariachi Matador stuff. I’ve loved “Swing” and “Freaks” for a long time, so I was all about working with Savage.” – Crankdat Not onto does it have the makings of a true festival anthem, the vocal instructions are also catchy as hell, as simple as they are. After his sets, you’ll be chanting “to the left! to the left! to the right! to the right!” just because it’s so fun. You’ve probably already heard him play this at many of his sets these past few months. This month will see Crankdat close out his first headline run in three years, ‘Return of the Crank,’ hitting over 28 cities and selling out shows including his home state stop at Skully’s Music-Diner in Columbus, OH. Last year, he opened for Steve Aoki at Amnesia, played to a packed crowd at Avalon in LA, and made his Tomorrowland debut. In 2023, he’ll make his Ultra Music Festival debut in Miami, return to Tomorrowland, play at Project GLOW Festival in DC, and announce more live performances. Check out “Move Back” below to get yourself acquainted before you catch him this year. This article was first published on Your EDM. LUPA launches forthcoming EP on mau5trap with first single, “Born a Beast”
When we named LUPA one of our Artists To Watch in 2022, she had just released her debut EP on mau5trap a couple months prior. Now, a little over a year later, she’s back with her third EP on the imprint, releasing the first track of the project today, “Born a Beast.” Staying true to her brand of dark techno, the pounding bassline creates an ominous feeling of suspense and terror, while also bringing tons of energy to the surface. “I came up with the idea for “Born A Beast” while on a music retreat in the mountains. It got dark early, and once it was night there was zero natural light left. I thought about the unknown things or creatures that could be hiding in the darkness of the forest and wanted to capture that uncanny feeling in a song,” – LUPA Her new EP is titled Animosity and you can check out the first track below now! Alfiya Glow Returns With New A/B Side EP “Into the Woods”
Multi-talented musician and performer Alfiya Glow is back with a brand new A/B side EP “Into the Woods.” We were first introduced to her violin playing skills and production prowess back in 2021. Not only has Alfiya made her name performing at festivals such as Electric Forest and SXSW, she’s also performed at world renowned concert halls such as Carnegie Hall and Walt Disney Concert Hall. The A-side of “Into the Woods” features bright, shimmering synths and an uplifting chord progression accompanied by Alfiya’s masterful violin playing. The vibe of the track is supposed to be encountering a fairy in the woods. The light violin plucks accompanying the light synth progression give the track a light and air-y feel to it. It’s definitely a vibe I would want to feel before going deep into the forest. The B-side is Joshua Moreno’s Midnight Mix of the track. As the title suggests, it’s a much deeper and darker sounding tune than the original mix. That being said, the Midnight Mix might be an even deeper trip into the woods. With light hi-hats beating in the background over a pulsating bassline and light kick drum, the Midnight Mix of “Into the Woods” is perfect for late night drive. Feature list for upcoming Skrillex albums includes Justin Bieber, Kid Cudi, Missy Elliott, Porter Robinson, & more
At last night’s Skrillex show in Brooklyn at Good Room, fans might have seen a paper with a bunch of names on it throughout the venue. Given the recent Basement Set tracklist, your first instinct would likely be to think that this is the list of featured names on his upcoming two albums this year. That hunch was confirmed by a moderator in the Skrillex Discord last night. We’ve already heard six singles so far from the two albums, split between QFF and DGTC. These included collaborations with Bibi Bourelly, Nai Barghouti, Bladee, Bobby Raps, PinkPantheress & Trippie Redd, and Fred again.. & Flowdan. From the Basement Mix, and the sheet below, we can also assume that “Supersonic” with Noisia, josh pan, and Dylan Brady will be on one of the albums, as well as “Too Bizarre” with Swae Lee and Siiickbrain and “Butterflies” with Starrah and Four Tet. And if Justin Bieber and Don Toliver are on this sheet, “Don’t Go” is also going to be released on DGTC. One name not present is Pete Wentz, whose voice was featured in the Basement Mix — apparently that was used merely as a transition point between two tracks. Check out the full feature list below and get ready for the official release of Quest For Fire this Friday! This article was first published on Your EDM. Christian Locke Rises Above on the Confident Stance of ‘Look at Me Now’
Full of self-assurance, Christian Locke charts the journey towards belief in oneself on the life-affirming “Look at Me Now.” A spry sensibility keeps things relatively expected. The blend of the tender with the intense rush of power that comes in on those minor releases of tension has a universal appeal. When those eventual bursts from the calm do come, they virtually beg the song to be played at the loudest possible volume to experience the intoxicating aura of his skill on the guitar as it shreds on through and breaks out in mad dashes for the sky. The volume starts small. The steady buildup of the work feels poignant to experience. The acoustic guitar gently glides through. He throws the listener off a little bit, for it brings a forlorn message. From this point, though, he turns the idea on its head. Word choice further expresses this, for when the song’s groove gains strength and muscle, it is a moral victory. Back and forth happens between these quiet and loud moments. Only towards the song’s latter half does the tide appear to turn completely. At the very last stretch, he ultimately allows the rhythm to break down into a million shards making sure it has this crystal clarity about its mission. With the help of songwriter and musician Bri Tolani, Christian Locke proves himself to be a brilliant lyricist, having the verses perfectly complement the rising action of “Look at Me Now.” This article was first published on Your EDM. PREMIERE: Tim Clark Unveils Electrifying Single, “Forgiving Hearts”
With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, you might be looking to spice up your playlists with passionate tracks – and do we have the song for you! Collaborating with the immensely talented vocalist Robin Vane, “Forgiving Hearts” is the latest single from Tim Clark, that tells an emotional story of overcoming addiction and finding forgiveness in your relationship for the struggles it has caused in the past. It’s not everyday we find such powerful messages interlaced in dance songs, and together, these two proved just how special of a team they are. Clark sprinkles in his energetic, future rave elements that allows this single to transcend into a whole new dimension. Here’s what Tim had to say about it: “’Forgiving Hearts’” was written as an open love letter to my wife. The only way to be able to have success in a long-term relationship is that both [people] have to have ‘Forgiving Hearts’. Now, I wrote the song to leave the reasonings open to anyone’s interpretation. In my case, it was about a battle with addiction: my wife had had an issue with gambling and she was able to beat it. I’m so very proud of her because it took its toll on our family. But, we have forgiving hearts and better days are ahead of us.” Listen below! This article was first published on Your EDM.
