KIDSØ return to Embassy One with “Melting” and Helaine Vis
In their new 2-track EP “Melting” on Embassy One, the electronic music pair KIDSØ teams up with the Polish singer Helaine Vis. The song is about regretting the past and finding it hard to let go. It combines KIDSØ’s unique production style with Vis’s strong singing. KIDSØ (Moritz Grassinger and Martin Schneider) make a booming bassline and rhythmic handclaps that add to the nostalgic feel of “Melting.” A lead with a lot of brass adds energy and goes well with Vis’s mature and deeply moving vocal performance. The lines “I saw ice in his eyes, now it’s melting/How I didn’t want to make him cry/I saw ice in his eyes, now it’s melting/I wish that I could turn back time” give the song a deep emotional quality. The two groups have been working together for years because KIDSØ liked Vis’s song “Ice” when they were first putting out music on Springstoff. As soon as they heard each other’s music, they started working on “Melting” as a way to combine their unique computer production skills with Vis’s skill as a songwriter. They keep pushing the limits of their sound with “Melting,” which combines driving tech house with emotive songcraft. The song shows that the two can make dancefloor-ready beats with story depth and human feeling. It’s a sad exercise in nostalgia, and it’s an exciting next step in their musical development. The release includes also Better Days with ROBINS. The tune was released back in February but it made its way through to this EP. 10 Things You Missed at the Surreal 2024 EDC Las Vegas Festival
Every year, hundreds of thousands plan their escapes to the illusory grounds of EDC Las Vegas. And every year, going home becomes more and more sad. It's now the dreaded post-EDC Monday, which means the melancholia of an epic weekend's close is setting in, especially in that brutal southbound I-15 morning traffic. But it's obviously all worth it. Another bioluminescent dreamscape unfolded over the weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, thanks to Insomniac Events. EDC continued to stand tall at the bleeding edge of festival culture in 2024, a year that came with the familiar thrills and astonishing surprises expected at one of the world's best electronic dance music festivals. Insomniac not only recaptured its audacious creative energy within the Speedway's neon-drenched grounds, but also ascended to new heights on its stages, which served as technological tinderboxes. Igniting a bright future in stage design, the production at kineticFIELD, circuitGROUNDS and the other EDC stages was out of a storybook. The FOMO was real, and so is the aftermath. For those who couldn't make it to this year's monumental festival, here's 10 things you missed at EDC Las Vegas. Fred again.. stuns EDC crowd with surprise setAn unannounced "special guest" on Saturday's circuitGROUNDS lineup started out as an afterthought but quickly exploded in the social media realm when Fred again.. revealed himself to be in Vegas. Considering it was sandwiched on the schedule by Four Tet's performance, fans naturally thought the two were reuniting with Skrillex for another historic b3b set. Alas, Fred ultimately performed solo. But who's complaining? DJ Snake called out TomorrowlandDJ Snake showed his fangs at the kineticFIELD stage on Saturday night, when he took the mic to criticize Tomorrowland seemingly unprovoked. "EDC is way better than Tomorrowland," he said. "For real. F*** Tomorrowland." The derision has baffled fans, but many on social media have speculated it's due to the Tomorrowland crowd's tepid response to dubstep and bass music. Snake took his contempt a step further after his performance by doubling down on X, where he wrote, "EDC VEGAS > TOMORROWLAND." "Fuck Tomorrowland" Oh My Love! Grum Releases New Single On His Being Label, ‘HIGHER STATE’
New Progressive bliss for your ears, from one of the greatest Scottish acts out there. We’re absolutely delighted to kick off this week on such a high note as this. Progressive master Grum has just unveiled a brand-new arrangement on his newly founded imprint Being, ‘HIGHER STATE‘. As is the case with the rest of his latest releases, we’ve been blessed with a minimalistic composition that focuses on what analogue machines can provide. Now focused on artistic freedom, he’s all-in on the sounds that once shaped the very sound of our industry, borrowing atmospheres and techniques from the early 2000s and before. What’s more, this approach to music production, we shared a while ago, would eventually lead to a 2024 full of live touring, one in which Grum would ditch the laptop to control and remix his tunes live, on the spot. Well, that’s a reality now. More info on that below. ‘HIGHER STATE’ Grum’s new track ‘HIGHER STATE‘ comes packed with nostalgia. Crafted from the ground up, this song starts from the very conception of a single sound, and builds up from there. Evolving into a beautiful four-on-the-floor piece, the artist made sure to give sense and reason to every element present, which there are not that many of, and which, at the same time, fill up the space in elegant motion. Trancy plucks, hypnotising delays, abstract vocals, saws, and machine-programmed percussion, everything comes in a handy little package this time. The entire song and its elements come together in a way that only an artist with the calibre of Grum could craft. Grum On Tour Catch the Scottish star across the US and Canada these coming weeks! Don’t miss the chance to watch him and his stylish machinery live on stage at venues such as It’ll Do in Dallas, Spybar in Chicago, or Audio in San Fran. Check out the full schedule below: Listen to ‘HIGHER STATE‘ below for your beloved Spotify play. Alternatively, click here to stream the track on your platform of choice. DOJ Lawsuit Set To Shake Up Live Nation’s Ticketing Empire
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is preparing to sue Live Nation, the parent company of Ticketmaster, for alleged antitrust violations. The DOJ’s investigation, which began in 2022, focuses on whether Live Nation maintains a monopoly in the ticketing industry, thereby stifling competition. The merger of Live Nation and Ticketmaster in 2010 created a dominant entity in the live event ticketing market, controlling over 80% of primary ticket sales in the U.S. The lawsuit expects to argue that Live Nation pressures venues into exclusive Ticketmaster agreements, limiting competition. From concert promotion to ticketing, artist management, venue ownership, and even concessions, Live Nation has their fingers in every pie. This has resulted in widespread consumer complaints about high ticket prices, excessive fees, and poor service, highlighted by the ticketing fiasco during Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” presale in 2022. If the DOJ’s lawsuit goes through, Live Nation could be facing some serious consequences, like being forced to break up or other remedies. It’s a high-stakes game, and the outcome could shake up the entire live entertainment industry. Photo by Sebastian Ervi. Uber To Revive Uber Shuttle For Events
Uber is continuing to expand its horizons beyond traditional taxi services, setting its sights on revolutionizing public transit. The company, renowned for using independent contractors over traditional employees, is introducing a new shuttle service feature in its app. Born from a collaboration with Live Nation, this service will provide affordable transportation to and from high-demand venues like airports, sports arenas, and concert halls. For Uber users, this means access to significantly lower fares compared to private Uber rides. The shuttles, capable of accommodating numerous passengers, will be operated by licensed commercial drivers, ensuring experienced hands at the wheel. The newly launched Uber Shuttle service allows users to book a seat on a shared shuttle, and travel to the same event, all at a cost much lower than an UberX ride. This initiative mirrors the concept of ride-pooling, with local transportation companies supplying the drivers. Uber has ventured into similar territory with services like Uber Pool, now known as UberX, and Uber Hop, which have since been rebranded or discontinued. Uber Shuttle is currently tailored for event transportation, aiming to secure a consistent flow of passengers and, consequently, steady revenue. Amongst the first locations to benefit from Uber Shuttle will be Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium and the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix. In addition to the shuttle service, Uber is introducing UberX Share, a feature that enables riders to book a shared trip up to 30 days in advance, promising savings of 25% compared to the standard UberX fare. This new concept from Uber has great potential for music festivals at venues that require mass transportation such as Coachella and this past weekend EDC Las Vegas. While a bit slower than a helicopter to EDC, the ride would be much more affordable for those with larger groups. The post Uber To Revive Uber Shuttle For Events appeared first on EDMTunes.

‘Waiting for Love’ By Avicii Has Turned 9 Years Old
On this day 9 years ago, Avicii blessed all of us with the release of ‘Waiting For Love’, a track that not only showcased his extraordinary talent but one that became a quick global sensation. The song’s been in the billions club for a while now amassing 1 billion streams on Spotify in August 2022 and a mere 3 months later, a billion views on Youtube. While we all reminisce and miss Avicii’s presence, this song has reminded us why we fell in love with Avicii and his music in the first place. For lovers of electronic dance music and Avicii, keeping up with the days became easier, thanks to the dj/producer’s use of the days of the week in a quirky and delightful way. Thursdays quickly took on a new meaning as many of us found ourselves echoing the infamous lyrics “Thursday waiting for love, waiting for love”. If you’re a huge fan of both electronic dance music and Avicii as I am, vivid images of Avicii performing with his signature backwards baseball cap and hand movements are sure to surface in your mind as you groove along to the beats of ‘Waiting For Love’. Maybe over the years, Monday’s left you broken or perhaps, Tuesday’s you were through with hoping… Either way, I’m sure Avicii’s ‘Waiting For Love’ with its tantalizing energy and spirit continues to echo in your mind, keeping the very essence and legacy of Avicii alive in the hearts of his fans. Zedd Announces Release Date of First Album in 9 Years, "Telos"
Zedd has confirmed a new album, Telos, his first in nearly a decade. Telos will release on August 30th, Zedd today revealed across his social media. The album follows 2015's scintillating True Colors, which delivered to fans a number of generational dance anthems, like "Beautiful Now" and the Selena Gomez-assisted "I Want You to Know." "Telos" comes from the ancient Greek word τέλος, which translates to "end," "purpose" or "goal." Used by the legendary philosopher Aristotle, the term is closely associated with the doctrine of teleology, which seeks to explain events and circumstances through the purpose they serve rather than their cause. Whether or not Zedd plans to channel those themes remains to be seen, but he opened up about the unreleased album back in August 2022, likening it at the time to "a new chapter" of his artistry. He did so again in March of this year, painting a picture of a deeply reflective opus with a nostalgic touch. "I kind of miss the days where albums had meaning and they were able to give you deeper experience than just some random songs slapped together, which in my opinion a lot of albums these days are," Zedd told USA Today. "There’s not really a story to it. And I've achieved more in my career than I ever dreamed of being able to achieve, so I just ask myself the question what the point would be to making an album if it wasn’t to do something that's deeply special and honest and would give fans the experience that I kind of crave and can rarely find these days." Fans of Zedd can now pre-save Telos here. Check out his announcement below as well as the album's artwork. View the original article to see embedded media. Sony Music Group Demands AI Training Firms Seek Permission
Sony Music Group is cracking down on Artificial Intelligence (AI) companies using its copyrighted content without permission. They sent formal letters to over 700 AI firms, banning the use of their music, lyrics, and artwork for text or data mining, web scraping, or AI training. Sony stresses that “innovation must ensure that songwriters’ and recording artists’ rights, including copyrights, are respected.” They want AI to enhance creativity, not replace it, so that artists get the recognition and compensation they deserve. Under the EU AI Act, copyright owners must publicly opt out if they do not want their content used for AI training. Sony has already issued nearly 10,000 takedown notices for unauthorized AI-generated content using its music. Sony argues that the tech industry often has a “distorted view” of copyright, treating music as fair game for training AI without permission or compensation. This undermines the value of creative works and the rights of creators. RightsAndAI.com Website Launched In their letter, Sony outlined principles for responsible AI development, emphasizing that AI should support, not replace, human creators. The company is urging Congress to adopt these principles, setting a standard for ethical AI use in the industry. Recently, major labels launched RightsAndAI.com to protect copyrights and warn tech firms against unlicensed music use. It serves as a resource for understanding the legal landscape and the importance of protecting intellectual property in the AI era. It’s a brave new world — stay updated on AI advancements in order to protect your art. The post Sony Music Group Demands AI Training Firms Seek Permission appeared first on EDMTunes.

Sexual Abuse Allegations Made Towards Tale Of Us Member MRAK Through Social Media Post
On May 17th, Liliana Nuno took to Instagram her thoughts and possible experiences that she proposes to have truly shared with Carmine Conte, also known as MRAK from Tale Of Us. In the long, descriptive post, Liliana accused the DJ of sexual abuse, saying that at an ‘Afterlife‘ event that she was invited to in Argentina, she had lost consciousness despite not drinking or taking any drug, and woke up in extremely bad mental and physical condition. To describe the state of her body, the young woman mentioned “I had blood running down my legs.” After realising what happened, the Mexican said she decided to return to Mexico, and during a stop in Guadalajara, she rushed to emergency where the doctor would’ve confirmed the case of rape and suggested she sues the person who had done this. As the Italian artist has not spoken on the topic yet, and no legal action has been taken either, the allegations made are not even known to be at least substantially true. Besides explaining what would’ve happened between her and MRAK, Liliana also opened up about Carmine’s spiritual beliefs, and the meaning at the foundation of the visuals presented at ‘Afterlife‘ shows. The Mexican has said to have had a conversation with the artists about religion, where he stated that he is a believer of the “little devil,” unveiling to her tattoos on his both arms depicting demons. Regarding the visuals, MRAK would’ve mentioned that they are supposed to represent ‘Transhumanism,’ which identifies as the evolvement of humanity using the power of technology and softwares such as artificial intelligence. We have seen this during the ‘Afterlife‘ shows, but as nothing is confirmed, all these facts can be just an opinionated detail from the accuser, claiming that MRAK has explained it this way. The public are still awaiting the artist’s response in defence of the allegations made, as well as to see where Liliana is going to go with the case. Various discussions have erupted between followers of both parties, some supporting the Mexican woman, while the others disagreeing with everything said. However, Liliana supports that she has evidence such as real time locations, pictures with the DJ’s production team and prescriptions from the doctor who consulted her in Guadalajara. Source:
