Asher Shashaty and Dani King’s new collaboration, “LA On My Mind,” is a sparkling, easy-listening number led by King’s evocative vocals. UK duo Solardo and it's murph have joined forces for a new house track, "Fetish," released on the former's own Sola Records. When Solardo arrived LA, they entered a session together for the first time, according to murph. During that initial meeting, they listened to parts of a four-hour Solomun extended set, which sparked the inspiration for "Fetish." Inspired by the techno and house music icon's work, they completed the track in just eight hours. So they decided to release the track, which they maintain was specifically produced for dancefloors rather than mainstream appeal, to coincide with the closing of Miami's iconic Club Space for the summer. Framework’s recent event in Exposition Park featuring Solomun, Nala, and Julia Sandstorm introduced an innovative and unique stage design and custom visual production. The original show was scheduled in Oxnard, California, at the Mandalay Generating Station. The custom-built stage was designed to resemble a power plant, as the production company had to improvise due to a location change. Framework did an excellent job. The stage included projection mapping of power plant imagery, creating an immersive experience for the audience. The stage also featured Tesla coils, which produced lightning effects in rhythm with the music. Pyrotechnics and smoke machines were also utilized to enhance the atmosphere. Visuals were mixed live, responding to the music in real time without prior rehearsal with the artists. Anyone with an eye for production technology would recognize the work and detail that was put into the stage design, specifically the visual effects. While the visuals and production technology were certainly impressive, so was the 6-hour set from Solomun. The DJ/Producer is relatively famous for his lengthy marathon-like DJ performances. Now that her satirical a cappella has securely embedded itself in pop culture, Megan Boni, familiarly known as social media personality Girl On Couch, has released an updated single version of “Man In Finance,” this time produced by David Guetta. Originally sampled by London-hailing electronic duo Billen Ted, “Man In Finance (G6 Trust Fund)” first hit streaming platforms on May 17th, a short turnaround after Boni originally posted the massively viral TikTok on April 30. Now, over one month since being a six-foot-five, finance-working trust fund baby (with blue eyes) became indispensable dating criteria, Boni has finalized a collaboration with one of the most streamed DJs of all time. In honor of Boni and David Guetta’s moment-seizing new record, Dancing Astronaut sat down with Girl On Couch herself to discuss the release, her recent appearance next to Guetta in Las Vegas, and what might be in store for the 26-year-old social media star. Can you speak on that experience? Megan: “I’ve already been asked to go to Germany, London, and Ibiza next week. I’m just like, ‘I need to go to my family beach house and sit on the couch for a little.’ I was asked to fly to Vegas like two days before. Luckily, I had no plans that weekend so I could make it work, but I’m definitely going to need to figure out a balance. I also hate traveling… So I’m like, ‘Can I fly first class at least?'” In an ideal world, what do you hope to gain from this moment in time? Megan: “Well, I’ve started taking acting classes… I obviously want to run with the song all summer. Legendary Daft Punk co-founder Thomas Bangalter has released the soundtrack of CHIROPTERA, a performance developed in collaboration with the Paris Opera House back in November 2023. Bangalter at the time joined the artist JR and choreographer Damien Jalet, with whom he developed the "unprecedented" show and commissioned 154 dancers to bring it to life at the dazzling Parisian venue la Galerie du 19M. In the wake of Daft Punk's shocking 2021 split, Bangalter has actively worked to reinvent himself as a composer. The influential producer recently released his original soundtrack for Mr. Oizo's French comedy film Daaaaaalí!, which followed a classical album called Mythologies. He's now released "CHIROPTERA MATIERE PREMIERE," a six-hour mix of the haunting, ambient music from its eponymous production. The soundtrack is out now via Bangalter's label, Alberts & Gothmaan, an anagram of his name. In celebration of the release, Bangalter also revealed ALETHEIA 19, an impending "sound installation" comprising "19 monophonic microgrooves cut on vinyl and presented in a simultaneous unsynchronised playback," according to a press release. Part of JR's DANS LA LUMIERE exhibition, the project will display in Paris' Espace Saint-Claude from June 7-15, 2024. Check out Bangalter's full soundtrack below. Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello had confirmed a mid-April release, but they decided to delay it after playing the song live because they "weren't satisfied with the production and needed to do last minute changes," the band said at the time. After slithering in with an eerie flute pattern, Swedish House Mafia's production stalks forward with hypnotic intensity as Niki & The Dove's haunting vocals pounce on the beat, defiantly chanting, "You can't keep me down, I am done, I am furious." Together with its fierce, propulsive drop, the song conjures imagery of a badass feline adorned in ceremonial black and gold warpaint, eyes blazing. "Lioness" is out now via Republic Records. Hope is never far away in the midst of a dance—a concept the Tim Bergling Foundation knows all too well. The foundation, whose namesake pays homage to the late Avicii, recently took to social media to announce the return of its "Dance For Life" initiative. Organized in Sweden to raise awareness of Suicide Prevention Day, which occurs on September 10th, the initiative originated last year at Lund's Polhemskolan high school and successfully danced its way to change, garnering participation from over 120 schools. Its objective is to gather students together in song and confront the conversation surrounding suicide prevention, and all the ways in which their peers can be heard in the midst of their struggles. "Today, on average, three young people take their lives each week," the foundation wrote.
