David Guetta and MORTEN Share Two New Tracks Ahead of Future Rave Hï Ibiza Residency
The unstoppable Future Rave duo of David Guetta and MORTEN are back with a pair of new tracks just time for festival season, "The Future Is Now" and "The Truth." The tandem is skipping right past spring and looking ahead to those sun-kissed beach parties and late-night outdoor celebrations. "The Future Is Now" opens with retro, trance-inspired leads before flinging headlong into a steady four-on-the-floor groove. "The Truth," on the other hand, takes a darker approach, delivering a cyberpunkian house heater with a tense build and pounding drums. In addition to the release, Guetta and MORTEN have announced their return to Hï Ibiza for another summer DJ residency later this year. The shows will take place on several Fridays from June until October 2024 and feature support from MEDUZA and James Hype. Check out both new singles below and find them on streaming platforms here. SLANDER and Trivecta Drop Long-Awaited Anthem, "A Better World"
Two of melodic bass' most prominent acts have released a gigantic new anthem just in time for festival season. It comes from SLANDER and Trivecta, who have joined forces with singer-songwriter Chris Howard for "A Better World," out now via Heaven Sent. Attentive fans may realize that the track had been teased for quite some time. Back in August, SLANDER and Trivecta performed at the Los Angeles Convention Center for the former's eponymous headlining takeover. As you might imagine, the song we're hearing today was performed live at the event and immediately became a coveted ID: NEED this unreleased Trivecta x @SlanderOfficial collab 🔥😍 via: @TrivectaMusic pic.twitter.com/n3bKjuF1rl — EDM.com (@TheEDMNetwork) October 30, 2023 Starting softly, the multi-talented Howard belts out empowering lyrics while SLANDER and Trivecta's engrossing production envelops the senses. True to the sounds of both producers, angelic synths and galactic bass take over to add a futuristic twist to the song's soaring drop. Check out "A Better World" below and stream the new single here. ALLEYCVT Sends Love to Her Fans on Heartfelt New Single, "F______ LOVE YOU"
Sometimes fans spark the brightest ideas. This time around, they were the direct inspiration for ALLEYCVT's new single, "F______ LOVE YOU." Out now via her own Planet Supersonic imprint, the impassioned bass track comes complete with room-filling bass and ALLEYCVT's stentorian vocals. It's the perfect live performance track, showing fans appreciation while simultaneously delivering a crowd-leveling drop. ALLEYCVT says she also pulled inspiration from the motif of love. "The plucks, strings in the background, tension and explosion in the drop all represent the buildup and resolve of falling in love and how terrifying it is to be vulnerable around someone after being hurt before, and then finally letting go and letting yourself be loved," she said. "I would say the biggest thing that I want this song to represent in general is love. I write a lot about it, because I think it’s one of the most special things about the human experience." Although this year has been relatively quiet on the release front for ALLEYCVT, she showed out in 2023. The year ended with her Deadbeats debut, "Glitch," which followed big singles like "REMEMBER ME" and "BACK2LIFE." You can listen to "F_____ LOVE YOU" below and find it on streaming platforms here. Wavedash Channel Pure Bliss In Stunning Single, "Had2Go"
The new era of Wavedash just keeps getting better and better. The trio is back with yet another exhilarating single, the lush "Had2Go," once again channelling pure indietronica bliss. With its refined vocal chops, smooth percussion and upbeat house rhythm, it's a far cry from the heavy sounds of yesteryear we've heard from Wavedash, but a welcome change that speaks to their artistry and formidably songwriting prowess. Wavedash's new era is here in full swing. Earlier this year, they teamed up with Madeon and Toro y Moi for their euphoric track "All Ur Love." 21 UK festivals called off, postponed or cancelled altogether – with over 100 in danger of disappearing without immediate action
As the 2024 festival season approaches, the UK is witnessing a concerning trend: 21 festivals have either been cancelled, postponed, or scrapped – with many more in danger of disappearing without immediate action. The Association of Independent Festivals (AIF), which conducted the research, said that “The timing of this milestone suggests that the number of festival cancellations this year will far outstrip 2023, when a total of 36 festivals were cancelled before they were due to take place.” READ MORE: “Right now, the economics of streaming are very broken”: sonu.stream co-founder Laura Jaramillo wants to re-shape streaming The report continued: “Without intervention, it’s expected that the UK could see over 100 festivals disappear in 2024 due to rising costs. Without having had a single steady season since the pandemic in which to recover, the country’s festivals are under more financial strain than ever.” Affected festivals include Nozstock: The Hidden Valley, which will be cancelled after 26 years this July, as well as Standon Calling, Neighbourhood Weekender, NASS, Doune The Rabbit Hole and Tokyo World. Last month, AIF launched the 5% For Festivals campaign which sought for a VAT reduction on festival tickets that would save many event promoters from closure. Temporary support from the UK Government – lowering VAT from 20% to 5% on ticket sales for the next three years – is all that’s needed to give festival promoters the space they need to rebuild, said the AIF. AIF CEO John Rostron states: “It’s with grave concern that we again sound the alarm to [the] Government upon passing this critical milestone. UK festivals are disappearing at a worrying rate, and we as a nation are witnessing the erosion of one of our most successful and unique cultural industry sectors. “We have done the research: a reduction of VAT to 5% on festival tickets over the next three years is a conservative, targeted and temporary measure that would save almost all of the festival businesses that are likely to fall by the wayside this year and many more over the years to come. We need this intervention now.” Earlier this year, Music Venues Trust reported that 2023 was the worst year for music venue closures in the UK, with a whopping 125 venues closed, 4,000 jobs lost, 14,500 events cancelled and 193,230 gigs scrapped as a result.
