  2. The Mayan Warrior team have announced a new car concept, ‘Mayan Warrior Galaxyer’, which will participate in their Halloween event in Los Angeles. The event will take place on October 26th and its organizers are “Stranger Than”, an exciting indie event collective that is also from Los Angeles and also one of the Mayan Warrior’s long-time partners. Additionally, the Halloween event will be the first off-playa appearance of the ‘Mayan Warrior Galaxyer’ since it debuted at the most recent Burning Man. Since the original art car’s tragic demise last year, the Mayan Warrior team have continued amplifying its resilience and dedication to ensuring that the new car concept retains the original spirit. Original Mayan Warrior Art Car / Photo Credit: Nicholas Hess ‘Mayan Warrior Galaxyer’ and its innovative designs The new art car beautifully blends ultra-modern technological aesthetics with ancient, traditional artistry. This innovative art car has designs that resembled a Mayan spaceship and an altar stage, which the team has promoted for its previous art car throughout the many years. The ‘Mayan Warrior Galaxyer’ also provides the fans to experience and feel the emotions of the Mayan Warrior itself as it moves through space, time, and cosmos. Additionally, this art car’s founder, Pablo Gonzalez Vargas, cooperated alongside Alvaro Manzo for the conceptual design, Paolo Montiel on the lasers and lighting systems, and Daniel Coello for the industrial design and build. When to see the new art car Tickets for the LA Halloween event will go on sale on July 10th at 12 p.m. PST. Furthermore, the additional Mayan Warrior dates for Miami and Tulum will come out soon later this year. 3. As the sun dipped below the horizon at Encore Beach Club, Marshmello was only just beginning to heat up. Wrapping up his scheduled daytime performance during the final weekend of June, the superstar DJ and producer had one more special surprise up his sleeve. Welcoming fans to an afterparty on the Wynn Resorts property, he kept spirits high throughout the evening with a tantalizing preview of new music, including a gritty new collaboration with EDM.com Class of 2024 inductee Hamdi. The intimate setting was ideal for the high-energy sneak preview. In a moment's notice, Mello seemingly sent the whole room bouncing off the wall to the track's distorted riffs, achieving the quintessential, euphoric reaction most artists could only hope for when previewing their most coveted unreleased tracks. The forthcoming single marks yet another high-profile collaboration for Hamdi, whose meteoric ascent has been catalyzed by the recent release of "Push" alongside Skrillex. Meanwhile, Marshmello has been on a tear of his own in 2024, recently dropping two groundbreaking bass EPs, including one alongside dubstep superstar SVDDEN DEATH back in April. Much like those long-form projects, fans will undoubtedly be itching to get their hands on the producer's unreleased collaboratoin with Hamdi sooner than later. Check out a clip below. 4. Yes, we have to admit. In the past, we were looking at the latest and most updated Tomorrowland mainstage pictures—every single detail and element. We wanted to know before anyone else. And we weren’t the only ones, of course. We heard of stories about people sneaking inside the festival area when construction where ongoing to have a shot of the main stage. People even started to fly drones on top of the park where Tomorrowland is held. We reached a point where everyone knew exactly what the Tomorrowland mainstage would look like, even days before the festival started. It was cool and all but, the magic of seeing it for the first time in person simply disappeared. This is why, in the last few years, we at The Groove Cartel have decided not to post anything. And that’s not all. We’ll avoid it as much as possible to fall into spoilers. We know; that some fellow colleagues don’t feel that way. You’ll definitely find spoilers on the internet as well as on respected websites as well. But not here. We definitely don’t want to pull away the excitement and all that whirlwind of emotions when we finally see the Tomorrowland mainstage for the first time. What we can do, tho, is to fantasize and imagine what we’ll await us. Tomorrowland 2024 theme is Life. We’ll be transported to the dynamic era in Silvyra. The time is set when the conjunction of its two moons is about to happen. But, what it is? Silvyra is a rich natural planet. The new theme illuminates the origins of Mother Tree and her protector the Maze, the first brew of the Elixir of Life, and the birth of the majestic Rose Garden. You may be familiar with all these names as they’re all part of Tomorrowland’s ground. Want to know more about Tomorrowland’s 2024 mainstage and what you can expect? You may find all your answers in The Spirit of Life book, where everything will be revealed to you. Tomorrowland Belgium 2024 is in just 2 weeks. 7. Today, Mayan Warrior continues the next chapter in its storied journey with the unveiling of their new art car concept, ‘Mayan Warrior Galaxyer,’ and the announcement of their Los Angeles Halloween event. Held on October 26th with long-standing partners Stranger Than, Mayan Warrior Los Angeles will serve as the first off-playa appearance of the new art car following its highly-anticipated debut at Burning Man. Originating in Mexico City, Mayan Warrior evolved from a renegade Burning Man art car and soundcamp to one of electronic music’s most successful touring brands, known for its unannounced lineups showcasing native Mexican and global underground talent. After the original art car was tragically destroyed earlier this year, the resilience of Mayan Warrior’s vibrant community was exemplified, leading to the latest iteration of this extraordinary project. Through the ashes, the Mayan Warrior’s legacy lives on and takes shape in ‘Mayan Warrior Galaxyer.’ Fusing ancient artistry with state-of-the-art technology, the Mayan Warrior team has built a custom art car resemblant of a Mayan spaceship and an altar stage, a continuation of the emblematic theme used by the design team for over a decade. The new art car symbolizes the soul of the last Mayan Warrior traveling through space, time, and the cosmos. Inspired by the spiritual realm and the idea of a futuristic Mayan spaceship, Mayan Warrior founder Pablo Gonzalez Vargas worked in tandem with Alvaro Manzo on the conceptual design, Paolo Montiel on the lasers and lighting systems, and Daniel Coello for the industrial design and build. Speaking on the new art car, Pablo Gonzalez Vargas says: “Let this be a portal to higher alternate states of consciousness of transcendental self-discovery.” Several unique and custom-made elements define the new art car. Built on a custom lowboy platform, the vehicle boasts a wireless-controlled custom electrical drivetrain and all custom LED screens that outline its design. A powerful d&b KLS series cardioid sound system delivers an impressive 153,600 watts of sound—nearly double the size of the previous system. The art car is also equipped with a state-of-the-art laser system, including a 400W laser that pierces through the atmosphere, 17 moving headlights with new laser source technology, and eight 30W lasers aimed towards the front of the stage. All components are waterproof and dustproof, ensuring durability and reliability. Mayan Warrior will continue to champion its signature sonic curation while gradually incorporating live acts that align with its eclectic identity. Held in partnership with underground event collective Stranger Than, the Los Angeles Halloween event will provide a truly immersive experience, from installation art pieces created by the Mayan Warrior community to individual performers that will pop up within and above the crowd. Renowned for transforming culturally and historically significant urban locations into venues for house and techno events, Stranger Than remains a revolutionary force in the US electronic music scene. Led by founder Tal Ohana, Stranger Than has introduced numerous new locations for iconic events throughout LA, including Grand Park, El Pueblo, Cabrillo Beach, and the Petersen Automotive Museum. Now active on both coasts, Stranger Than is a premier stateside production partner for global institutions. Additional Mayan Warrior dates will be announced in Miami and Tulum later this year. 10. Pop icon Bebe Rexha took to X earlier this week to express her deep frustrations with the music industry. The 34-year-old singer-songwriter, who has penned hits for the likes of Eminem, Selena Gomez, Tate McRae, and Tinashe, shared a series of passionate posts detailing the obstacles she’s faced. Her claims paint a picture of an industry that has repeatedly undermined and sabotaged her efforts. A Bold Call-Out Bebe Rexha’s posts were, frankly, explosive. She shows herself fed up, and claims to be keeping some obscure things to herself, which could impact the business as a whole. “I could bring down a BIG chunk of this industry. I AM frustrated. I Have been UNDERMINED”, she wrote. Despite her extensive contributions and success, Rexha feels she’s been punished for speaking out. “I’ve been so quiet for the longest time… And when I have spoken up I’ve been silenced and PUNISHED by this industry.” -Bebe Rexha The ‘Hey Mama’ Controversy The singer’s grievances aren’t new. One fan mentioned the notorious 2015 ‘Hey Mama’ incident, where Rexha was initially excluded as a vocalist on the David Guetta track, despite her contributions. At the time, Bebe Rexha expressed her disappointment, explaining the complexities behind the decision to limit featured names. This exclusion was a bitter pill to swallow, given her journey in the industry. On Tuesday, she reflected on this, noting that it was just a small part of a much larger problem. Are you a producer and you want your song featured on EDMTunes? Follow this link right here. Struggles With ‘I’m the Drama’ Rexha’s latest single, ‘I’m the Drama’, released on June 28, has faced promotion challenges, she says. She claimed to have no budget for marketing the track, a surprising revelation considering her stature in the music world. “Marketing? I have no budget for that“, she stated bluntly. Despite releasing her third studio album, Bebe, in 2023, Rexha’s frustration and sadness were palpable. The Silver Lining: Fans Amidst her grievances, Rexha expressed gratitude to her fans. They have been her beacon of hope, providing the strength to persist. Meeting fans during her walks in London has reignited her passion, even in the face of industry adversity. With a career featuring hits like ‘Meant To Be’, ‘Me, Myself & I’, and ‘I’m Good (Blue)’, Rexha’s journey has been both triumphant and tumultuous. As she continues to voice her struggles, her fans remain a testament to her enduring impact and resilience. In an industry often cloaked in glamour, Rexha’s raw honesty sheds light on the less visible battles artists endure. Her message is clear: the music industry must change, or she will reveal the full extent of her truths. I could bring down a BIG chunk of this industry. I AM frustrated. I Have been UNDERMINED. I’ve been so quiet for the longest time. I haven’t seen the signs even though people constantly are bringing them up and they have been SO OBVIOUS. And when I have spoken up I’ve been… — Bebe Rexha (@BebeRexha) July 2, 2024 For more tweets, be sure to check out her X page, here. 12. Nico Moreno is a French DJ and producer from Caen, recognized as one of the major players in the contemporary industrial techno rave scene. He began producing music at a young age, creating intense music, characterized by fast, hard-hitting kicks. Nico Moreno quickly made himself known thanks to songs which all met with resounding success, leaving his mark on the techno scene. Titles such as ‘Purple Widow’, ‘Insolent Rave’, ‘Techno Crari’, ‘Your Bad Company‘, ‘This is for my haters’, among many others, have all enjoyed as dazzling success as each one. others, helping to consolidate its reputation as an essential producer. We had the pleasure of chatting with Nico Moreno shortly before his set at Onyx Bangkok. Hi Nico, thanks for joining me today on behalf of EDM House Network. How are you feeling about being here in Bangkok, Thailand? Yes, things are going wonderfully. It is truly special to be here in Asia, and I feel incredibly honored by the warm reception I’ve received in Thailand. Bangkok is a magnificent city, filled with exceptionally kind and welcoming people. Your recent album, ‘You Can’t Stop The Movement,’ has been a major hit. What inspired its creation? The inspiration for ‘You Can’t Stop The Movement’ came primarily from my experiences on the road and the incredible energy I receive from my audience. Traveling to different places and immersing myself in various cultures allowed me to create unique sounds and rhythms for the album. The connection with my fans and the vibrant atmospheres I encounter at each performance are what truly drive my creativity. This album is a reflection of those shared moments and the unstoppable force of the music community. You’ve worked with various artists, including Laren on ‘You Make Me Horny.’ How do these collaborations influence your creative process? These types of collaborations are always a positive challenge. Each artist has their own creative process and ideas about how a track should sound. Blending the styles and concepts of multiple artists consistently results in a fresh, unique experience. I find this incredibly exciting because it allows us to create a new sound together, making the final track even more distinctive and special. Working with other artists in this way pushes the boundaries of my creativity and leads to truly unique musical expressions. You started with minimal equipment. How has your production setup evolved over the years? This hasn’t really changed at all. Just like before, I sit down at my computer and let my creative process flow freely. I allow all the melodies and ideas that come to mind to take shape in the program I use to make my tracks. Of course, I now have better quality equipment compared to the past, but aside from that, my creative process remains the same. Hard techno is constantly evolving. Where do you see the genre heading in the next few years? I can’t accurately predict where hard techno will be in a few years. As we’ve all noticed, hard techno has become quite popular in recent years, and I feel incredibly blessed to be part of this growth. Music is always evolving, and it’s possible that in a few years, people may be interested in a different genre. The hard techno of today is already different from what it was a few years ago. However, I do believe that hard techno will grow to the point where it will be featured on major global MainStages. How do you manage to balance a hectic tour schedule with your personal life? Touring can be intense at times, but the energy and love I receive from the fans far outweigh any fatigue I might feel. I also strive for a balanced life. When I return from a tour, I love spending time with my friends. This provides me with much-needed relaxation and helps me recharge for the next weekend. I also spend a lot of time at the gym, which gives me the peace to reflect on the weekend and prepare for another amazing one. What can fans expect from your upcoming set for Retox Sessions at Onyx, Bangkok? The fans can expect a true Nico Moreno set. I have come to Bangkok well-prepared to deliver a monstrous performance. You can look forward to a lot of Nico Moreno tracks, along with a diverse amount of bangers from incredibly talented producers. My set will showcase various elements of hard techno. I can’t wait to share my energy with the visitors of Onyx. Is there anything else you’d like to share with your fans ahead of the spectacle? I’m incredibly hyped for this party in Onyx. I can’t wait to experience the rave vibes on the dance floor in front of me. The energy and enthusiasm of the crowds here are unmatched, and I’m excited to see how Onyx will bring its flavour to the party. It’s going to be an unforgettable night, filled with amazing music.. I’m counting down the days until I can dance with everyone and feel the rhythm of Bangkok’s rave scene come alive.

  16. Yo! My name is Primate, and I’m gonna give you a quick rundown of my favourite studio gear and number one most used studio equipment! For starters, I’ll add that I’m not a big user of hardware equipment apart from a little midi keyboard and some automation knobs (I just love taking basic sounds and adding loads of effects to design them to my liking!) Primate’s Latest Release on ‘Abundance’ Out Now on Souped Up This leads to today’s pick: The Pro-Q 3 by FabFilter. It might sound weird that I’m picking a basic plugin like an equaliser as my favourite studio software, but trust me, I discovered this beauty about 2-3 years ago and it’s improved my sound and workflow massively. FabFilter Pro-Q 3 I’ve been producing for give or take 13 years now, of which I’ve almost always used the stock Fruity Parametric EQ2 by Image-Line, but having made the change to the Pro-Q3, I never looked back, to the point that my songs nowadays don’t even have any stock equalisers on them at all. Don’t get me wrong, a basic equaliser can still do the job, but I’ll give you a little list of why I think the Pro-Q3 is so good. – It’s super visual. Besides from visually pleasing to look at, the visual aspect of the Pro-Q3 taught me how to read and perceive frequencies. It’s also possible to use it as a compare tool, where it visually highlights clashing frequencies of different instruments. – It’s got key recognition. In the Q3, there is an option you can enable that allows you to see the exact key and pitch of each frequency you’re working with. This is so good for colouring sounds or adding detail to basses and drum elements, while still keeping a consistent and harmonic mix. – You can get creative. Don’t quote me on the exact number, but the Pro-Q3 allows you to boost frequencies as much as +36dB. Combine this with other effects, especially in the lower and mid frequencies, and you can get some really wicked bass sounds and screeches. Trust me, you can’t overdo it. – It’s the perfect cleaner. Last but not least, this EQ has so many specific and cool features. Two of my favourite ones that help me clean in every single mix are the mid/side compatibility, as well as the dynamic mode. With the m/s settings, you can clean frequencies specifically in the mono or stereo field, which is so good for cleaning up the low end on things like reeses or cleaning up the washy high end on vocals. Secondly, the dynamic mode allows you to have frequencies react to volume, similar to a compressor, but without 100 detailed knobs. This allows you to get boosts or dips only at times when it’s needed. Is use this on my drumgroups all the time, either to remove sharp percussive edges or to attenuate the drum transients! The Pro-Q3 is such a powerhouse and in my opinion, it’s a must-have in every producer’s arsenal, whether you’re a bedroom producer or a professional touring the globe. As a final remark, I would like to add that I think the price you pay for this amazing tool is kinda up there but definitely worth it. Sitting at €170 for lifetime access to such a game-changing tool is just too good to not get! FabFilter also offers bundles which include some of their other plugins, which are all just as useful. But that’s for another conversation ;D I hope this was helpful to you lot, and I wish you all a beautiful day! See you all soon at the raves Love, Primate Follow Primate
  17. Deep down, we always knew T was of the kind to pull such a card trick with his brilliant composition skills. Before Tony McGuinness was Tony McGuinness of Above & Beyond, he was another artist, another music industry professional, another man entirely. But that was a long, long time ago — nearly 30 years ago, for that matter. And you’d better believe the Tony who preceded ‘Blue Monday‘, ‘Sun & Moon‘, ‘Alone Tonight‘, a cute ’04 BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, and even a Marketing Director for Warner Music Group, was already too far down the rabbit hole of music to even consider leaving that sensitive side of him behind. In fact, our beloved Tony has been actively making music since the late ’80s, as a guitarist for the iconic British Indie-Rock band, Sad Lovers And Giants. And you’re going to tell me there wasn’t any solo project of him lying around? Well, there was, but it was living leap year after leap year in the dungeons of the unreleased stuff. And there it was, private and personal. Salt Back in the mid-90s, Tony met a special someone, who goes by the name Shelley. The two had a rather short-lived story in terms of time, but, according to McGuinness himself, it was a very intense, very fulfilling journey. By chance — as all good things seem to occur — a weekend in a luxury hotel put him in the same place as her, an American, member of a band’s entourage. “I walked in and there was this skinny, grumpy-looking girl smoking a fag”, he recalls, “wearing a thin cotton dress, cardigan, black tights, Dr Martens. I said: “Do you want a game of snooker?” She was like: “Yeah, alright.” So we started playing snooker – and started a relationship over the three days that I was there. I really fell for her. When she smiled, she looked incredibly beautiful. When she didn’t, she looked like she might kill you! She had one of those faces and I was utterly smitten”. Instead of returning to America, Shelley’s flight took her to London, alongside Tony. Keeping it short-attention-span friendly — to my heart’s most utter discontent, for I love backstories —, the result of this gunpowder-like romance was Salt, a nine-track LP born in a six-month period, back in those times when not even Google was around. Shelley was Tony’s muse, and these creations simply poured from him. Once she inevitably left England to return to the U.S., this piece sat there, rather unfinished, in an old sampler. The 2000s came, with it came Above & Beyond, and life would never be the same again for T. A busy lifestyle turned the potential album into a lost memory of some sort. Until a few years ago, when he decided to unearth a piece of his very history and, potentially, his very first chapter as a heartfelt composer. And the complete album will see the light of day in just about a week. ‘Biker Babe’ / ‘Babydoll White’ Two of the nine singles have been lifted ahead of the release, ‘Biker Babe‘ and ‘Babydoll White‘. The latter, mind you, you might remember from those Lockdown times of Tony Stan-Lee-ing over to Anjunadeep for a few Fingerprint tunes, some Deep sets, and some curated compilations under his belt. And regarding the former, I’ll leave you with its creator: “[One morning, Shelley recited] the immortal words, which I will never forget: “Go and get your guitar and sing to me”. And as a creative person, for whom the spark of creativity is always elusive, to have that excuse to play, and to have that willingness to hear – well, I think that’s what a muse is, isn’t it? So I went and got my guitar. She had a Triumph motorcycle T shirt on. And I just went twang on my guitar and sang: “biker babe, biker babe…”. And that’s how that song came”. A highly personal chapter of his career, Tony is finally unveiling Salt next Friday, July 12th. In the meantime, head below to listen to the first two singles, by hitting the ‘Play‘ button on the Spotify player we’ve attached. Also, be sure to pre-save the album right here, and even, if you’re in that mood today, click here to watch the official video for ‘Biker Babe’. Congrats, T. 19. Kevin Parker, known for crafting Tame Impala’s lush soundscapes, has ventured into the realm of Electronic music instrument production. Recently, fans browsing the band’s Instagram account noticed a new addition: Telepathic Instruments, described as “an electronic instruments company founded by Tame Impala and friends.“ The company has also launched a website, though it remains enigmatic in nature: “Are You Listening?” Telepathic’s social media presence mirrors this cryptic allure. Currently, its Instagram page features just two posts: one showcasing the company’s logo alongside audio of a distorted, bitcrushed synth patch, and another presenting a pixelated image resembling Parker with the caption, “What is bro trying to tell us…“. If I had to take a guess, I think they are creating at least a synthesizer with another company. It will probably feature some out there psychedelic sounds that resemble the band’s sound. I am sure it will be a producer’s dream to test it out. In other Tame Impala news, Parker announced in May this year that he sold his complete song catalog to Sony Music Publishing. 21. Above & Beyond's Tony McGuinness was not always an international headliner. Before he struck gold in the trance realm with bandmates Jono Grant and Paavo Siljamäki, McGuinness was a rock-and-roll artist inspired by legendary acts like Steely Dan and The Beach Boys. Those inspirations led to the creation of a solo rock album, Salt. Despite working on nine tracks for six months, after he finished recording the album, he'd lock it away in his archives for close to 30 years. Now, after two decades of success with Above & Beyond and their label Anjunabeats, McGuinness is finally ready to unveil Salt. McGuinness this week released the album's lead single, "Biker Bibe." T he combination of his bittersweet, romantic lyricism and sun-dappled guitar riffs will remind you of those summertime drives where your parents picked what was on the radio, long before the days of Spotify. "Biker Babe" was inspired by a short-lived romance with an American girl in the 90s, according to McGuinness. He said the story he wrote saw him placing himself and his muse into the world of David Lynch's television show Twin Peaks. "Which is where the mention of The Roadhouse comes from and ran with that all the way through to the ending," he explained in a press release. "I knew she was gonna have to go back to America because she had no visa, and she had a flat in America that she didn't want to lose." McGuinness also shared another new single, "Babydoll White," which may sound familiar to fans of Fingerprint, his deep house side project. He remixed his unreleased rock single for Anjunadeep back in 2020 and now, with help from Bob Bradley, fans can experience the sounds of the 90s in its original format. Fans can pre-save Salt here. 22. Before the LA Galaxy take on their rivals, the Los Angeles Football Club, on the Fourth of July, Afrojack has been tasked with bringing the energy to the stadium. Due to the magnitude of the rivalry game, the teams will square off at the massive Rose Bowl Stadium, giving the Dutch dance music icon an even larger playground to perform new hits, like his recent reunion with Pitbull and Ne-Yo. In addition to the pregame performance, Afrojack will return to the spotlight at halftime to prepare the crowd for the final half of the matchup. LA Galaxy's Chief Brand and Creative Officer, Will Misselbrook, stated their commitment to incorporating live music into the team's game experiences. "This show continues to enhance our approach to creating an immersive fan experience with legendary musical acts," he said in a press release. "There is no better place for top-tier soccer and innovative electronic music to take center stage than at the iconic Rose Bowl Stadium." LA Galaxy fans know this is not the first time dance music has invaded their club. Just this year, attendees were treated to the sounds of Alesso during the organization's home opener. Not long after that, TOKiMONSTA provided the soundtrack for the Galaxy's Women's History Month game from the club's all-new DJ booth. 23. All it takes is a bag of kibble and your pet will be better at writing music than all the ghost producers out there. Have you ever wanted your pet to make even more noise when they're hungry? Neither have we, but what if it was a more pleasant sound than a whine or bark? That's the promise of the Pet Piano, a tiny instrument that exploits the power of insatiable hunger to train your pets to strike keys. When the device is powered on, your pet can put their little paws on its keys to play notes, which triggers it to dispense kibble or treats in an attached bowl. This will incentivize your furry friends to fill the sounds of your home with random noise beautiful piano melodies as they learn the basics of creating music so you can eventually buy them Ableton. You're probably wondering what would stop greedy pets from pressing the keys all day long to constantly receive food. The creators found a solution via the Pet Piano mobile app, in which users can change the volume of the piano, adjust the portion size, view when your pet has "played," change the sounds of the instrument and lock its use to a specific time of day. The Pet Piano is set to be released in October and pre-orders are now live here. Its creators shared a YouTube video," I Taught My Cat to Play Mozart," which tells the story behind the gadget and features an adorable demo. Check out the clip below.
