Approaching Nirvana, the moniker of Andrew Sinclair, has unleashed his latest EP “Better Days,” a five-track journey through lush, melodic, and uptempo electronic landscapes. This release marks a significant moment for the young talent, blending his signature sound with fresh, innovative spins. Vocal collaborations add depth to the EP, with “The Outside” featuring Hayes and the jubilant anthem “I Don’t Work That Way” showcasing Kate McGill’s enchanting voice. These tracks demonstrate Approaching Nirvana’s versatility, seamlessly blending vocals with his lush, arena-ready production. The title track “Better Days” serves as the EP’s emotional core, an uplifting instrumental that symbolically closes the collection with a promise of brighter horizons. Andrew reflects on the EP’s theme: “Generally, I feel that this EP is about working through tough times and pushing towards better days. I feel that general sentiment to my core in the last few months as I’ve made the push towards the finish line with this EP despite going through some hard times.” As 2024 unfolds, “Better Days” represents just the beginning of a new creative chapter for Approaching Nirvana. The Glitterati Rears Its Ugly Head With Balenciaga's €3,500 "Raver Bracelet"
Gone are the days, apparently, of earning your festival stripes through actual experiences. Now, you can buy the look of a seasoned raver without ever having to endure fan-clackers or dilapidated port-a-potties, thanks to Balenciaga. In a move that screams, "How do you do, fellow kids?" louder than Steve Buscemi in a backward cap, Balenciaga has released a "Raver Bracelet" at the astounding price of €3,500 (roughly $3,789 USD). Where haute couture meets dumpster dive, this overpriced piece of wrist candy is distressed "to imbue it with a worn and aged look" as if you've been marinating in sweat, glitter and questionable life choices at EDC. For the low, low price of a used car, you too can sport this "unique and intricate" scrap of fabric, perfect for fooling yourself into thinking you're still young enough to stay up past 10pm or for impressing absolutely no one at your next meeting. The band, which features in Balenciaga's Autumn/Winter 2024 catalog, is also available in a virtually indistinguishable version with metallic threading for €4,500. The bracelet's manufacturing process "requires a full day's work for each piece," according to the Balenciaga website. You can read more about the "Raver Bracelet" here. Balenciaga Is Now Selling A €3,500 Couture Festival Wristband

Every porta potty visit, every wave of dust kicked up by shufflers, every spilled drop of rain or Beatbox is forever etched on those beloved wristbands. They serve as a grimy memento of the blood, sweat, and tears we ravers put into every festival experience. Well apparently these wristbands have become so sought after, that Balenciaga is now selling a mock “Raver Bracelet” for €3,500. Hand-embroidered and held together with a sterling silver 925 clasp, the bracelet is intentionally distressed to mimic a used festival wristband. The Raver Bracelet is available in pink, black, and blue polyester. According to the Balenciaga’s creative director Demn, wearing “this distressed version” requires “the skills of an artist to imbue it with a worn and aged look.” The fashion house adds that the manufacturing process requires “a full day’s work for each piece.” Each piece is handmade using various artisanal techniques, making it “unique and intricate,” which is why interested buyers must make a private appointment to purchase. The new accessory is currently available by appointment only for €3,500, with a second style option featuring metallic thread priced at €4,500. Your average festival wristband ranges anywhere from €300-€3,000 these days, depending on the event and the desired experience tier (GA, GA+, VIP, etc.). Balenciaga’s mock wristband tops any festival entry fee currently available. You could attend EDC Las Vegas as a VIP guest three times before hitting Balenciaga’s price point. If you want the real thing (and to save a bit of money), you have to put in the work like the rest of us ravers. Otherwise, here’s the link to book your appointment for the Balenciaga knockoff! Beatport and Beatdapp Partner to Combat Annual Streaming Fraud of Up to $3 Billion
Streaming platforms are paying exorbitant sums of money to bad actors, claims research from Beatdapp, who revealed that roughly 10% of all music streams are fraudulent. That's according to a recent report from Sky News, which illuminated troubling figures from the music data tracking company. As it stands, all the money from subscriptions is placed into a large pool used to pay out artists per stream. This model has reportedly been exploited by scammers, whose methodology typically involves uploading a song and then implementing bots to stream it en masse before collecting royalties on the artificial plays. That fraudulent activity has resulted in up to $3 billion in revenue each year, per Beatdapp. The firm has now joined forces with Beatport with the hopes of amplifying their fraud detection technology to make sure on-platform streams are authentic. The merits for the company are crystal-clear—by detecting fraud, they won't be wasting money paying for inauthentic content. However, Beatport's charts open the door to benefits for non-artist users on the platform. With the elimination of fraudulent streams, Beatport's chart rankings will give users a better idea of who's organically trending in the industry through a "fair and transparent environment" devoid of the influence of pay-to-win bots. Helen Sartory, Beatport's Chief Revenue Officer, acknowledged that fraud is less of a problem on their platform as opposed to Spotify or Apple Music, but doubled down on these benefits. "We launched streaming products under the Beatport and Beatsource brands in 2019, and despite the fact that they have not historically been a target for streaming fraud, suspicious activity has been on the rise in recent months," Sartory said in a statement. "Although our fraud rates still remain half that of the industry average, we rely on accurate streaming data not only to preserve fair compensation to artists and labels, but also for track recommendations and analytics. We are excited to be able to work with Beatdapp to ensure that our data is representative of authentic listener engagement." You can learn more about Beatdapp's fraud detection technology here.

deadmau5 India Set Cancelled Due To Prime Minister Visit
deadmau5’s India set is going to have to wait, at least a little bit longer. The much-anticipated deadmau5 show scheduled for July 12th at NESCO, Mumbai, has been canceled. Sunburn announced this unfortunate news, citing unavoidable circumstances beyond their control. Sunburn runs Asia’s largest music festival in December – Sunburn Festival. The primary reason for the cancellation is because of the visit of the Honorable Prime Minister of India to Mumbai. Due to security protocols and directives issued by the relevant authorities, the planned venue at NESCO is no longer available for use. The event organizers had no alternative but to comply with these directives, leading to the event’s cancellation. Sunburn has assured all ticket holders that they will receive a full refund for their purchases. The organization is also working closely with the artist management team to find a suitable window to bring deadmau5 back to India soon. Alden Song on Crafting Powerful Tracks: A Deep Dive into His Music Production Techniques
For this exclusive interview, we’re joined by Alden Song to learn more about his journey into music production, his approach when it comes to creating powerful tracks, and the techniques, processes, and equipment he uses most in his production practice. Having had a decade on the music scene, Alden Song has become known for his dynamic sound and vibrant energy, both within his studio productions and through his live DJing sets. So, we’re looking forward to sitting down in conversation with the talented Producer and DJ today to discover more about his workflow, studio set-up, and musical inspirations. Hi Alden, nice to meet you! How are you? I’m great, thanks so much for having me! What started your pursuit of a career in Dance music? I started when I was 7 years old so it’s hard to identify how it all started because it’s all I’ve ever known. The drive to DJ has always been there and naturally evolved into music production. Everyone told me that I was always artistic as a kid, and it translated into music. When I was younger, I remember DJing to crowds and loving the energy and I have loved it ever since. My parents and their friends were in the NYC House music scene in the 90s and still are. My dad is a DJ and when I was young, he inspired me to DJ myself. How did you learn to create music? I was very fortunate to go to a preschool that focused on creative thinking, and I’ve always considered myself an artist. From there, it just naturally evolved into a love for making music, and my family gave me the right tools to create. I started with GarageBand and discovered the basics of making music through its premade loops. I soon outgrew that and downloaded Ableton Live 9 and I started messing around on my own, creating Dance music. Which DAW is your favorite? I would definitely say Ableton, I have been using it for many years now and it has been my go-to DAW. A great quote I heard was – “Ableton is infinite.” I feel like I’m always learning new things. What are your go-to plugins and effects? My favorite wavetable synth plugins are Serum and Diva for electronic basses and leads. Serum is good for digital sounds and Diva is good for emulating analog sounds. I also use a lot of Native Instruments plugins such as Hybrid Keys, Analog Dreams, and The Grandeur for more of an organic feel. For effects, I’ve been using Valhalla reverbs, Saturn 2, and RC-20. My favorite at the moment is Saturn because the distortion is super warm and clean. All of these plugins are super useful but for years I have used stock Ableton plugins because they are amazing and get the job done. Where do you draw inspiration from to produce your tracks? How do you spark your creativity? I listen to all kinds of music, so I draw inspiration from a lot of different genres and watch other DJs on YouTube and social media. But I also get inspiration from other works of art such as paintings and architecture. Could you share with us some important steps of your creative process? What is your process like when it comes to starting a new production? I always like getting the idea out of my head as quickly as possible, so I usually have the basic outline of the song in about an hour or two. I think it’s important to have every tool in your DAW as accessible as possible to be able to get the idea created before you lose it. Which pieces of equipment do you use most often within your tracks? I mainly use Ableton but sometimes I would use my Moog Subsequent 37 which is an analog synthesizer and my Behringer RD-9 which is a replica of the Roland 909 drum machine. Could you share more about your studio setup? Do you have a studio that you use or have you built your own at home? I have built my own studio at home! My computer is a Mac mini, and it’s connected to an ultra-wide monitor. My audio interface is an Apollo Twin X, and my speakers are the JBL 3 Series MKII. I have been collecting my gear for years and it serves me well. I used Sonarworks which EQs your room for a truer sound and now I use sound panels to treat my room. I recently purchased a Mojave microphone because of my recent work with singers and vocalists. What is one piece of advice you would give to a rising producer who wants to learn to perfect their productions? I would say, take inspiration from everywhere and incorporate it into your music. I feel like I’m still searching for ways to improve my production skills. And you need to be less hard on yourself and stop comparing your music to others. Love the process of making music and with that, your music will sound better. As we finish our interview with Alden Song, we thank him for his time and for allowing us a glimpse into his creativity when it comes to music production; having made his passion and commitment towards his craft clear, we’re sure that Alden Song will bring more captivating releases to his listeners soon, so be sure to stay tuned by following Alden Song across social media.
