  1. Recently spotlighted by DJ Mag as an artist to watch and having graced SiriusXM’s Chill channel, Nico de Andrea continues his impressive run following a standout performance at Miami Music Week alongside Black Coffee. He’s now releasing the deluxe edition of his critically acclaimed debut artist album, “Love Therapy.” This expanded version—available digitally and on high-quality vinyl—deepens the emotional narrative of the original with three new tracks: “Legion,” “Lose Your Love” (featuring Rony Seikaly), and “Kingston Groove.” These additions, along with various acoustic mixes, explore themes of nostalgia, longing, passion, and hope, drawing from Nico’s personal experiences with love, conflict, and separation. The focus track, “Kingston Groove,” features Caribbean vocals by D-Prezzy and a tribal house bassline, designed to captivate dance floors. Complementing the new tracks are several reworks and remixes by house music legend Harry Romero and the Paris-based duo Birds of Mind, cementing the album’s club worthy status. Nico has been showing off the album across his North America tour, which began with shows in major cities including NYC, Toronto, Chicago, and Los Angeles. 5. The tech house juggernaut keeps on rolling: John Summit, the Brooklyn-bred DJ/producer behind a string of massive dancefloor anthems, has unleashed his latest high-octane offering – the appropriately titled “Eat The Bass.” Released via his own Darkroom/Experts Only imprint, the new single sees the EDM superstar and label boss at his gritty, groove-laden best. A true club weapon from the first pulsating kick drum, “Eat The Bass” brings enough power to fuel both the twilight warm-up and 5 a.m. after-hours sessions. The track’s addictive power lies in its gloriously simple but effortlessly effective production. Before the hammering, low-end-loving beats even kick in, an intoxicating spoken word vocal repeats the chorus hook: “I just need to eat the bass, so let me dance.” From there, Summit’s masterful sound design takes centerstage as growling synth refrains and hypnotic percussive motifs steadily layer, whipping ravers into a frenzy. It’s a tried-and-tested main room techno formula, but one that few can execute as compellingly as Summit currently. The single arrives as the first appetizer from Summit’s highly anticipated debut album. The full-length effort reportedly features a mouth-watering lineup of collaborators including Elderbrook, Tape B, Sub Focus and Of The Trees. If “Eat The Bass” is the opening salvo, then dance music fans have a serious dancefloor feast to look forward to from one of the scene’s hungriest talents. 6. Having already impressed with his previous albums ‘Infinity’ and ‘Polyton’, Teho presents us with his most exciting project to date, his third studio album titled ‘Shifting’. The build for this album began all the way back in October 2023 with the release of the single ‘Lyra’ and now the wait is finally over as Teho gives us the 13 track album in its entirety, The album shows Teho‘s growth as an artist, continuously evolving both personally and sonically as a producer. Always one to take us on a journey with his music, Teho wanted to understand his deepest fears, anxieties and traumas, but above all, to heal them. Crossing bright phases full of hope contrasted by darker moments where fury takes over, ‘Shifting’ is the reflection of a quest towards inner peace, and of a cure which would recover the traumas of an artist who does not understand not the reasons for his unhappiness when everything seems to be smiling on him. With 13 tracks total, it’s hard not to get caught on this journey of sound. As you listen you’ll notice each single meticulously blending together to bring you on that journey. Deep and melodic tones are found at the heart of this all with rhythmic and groovy elements carrying that dancefloor flavor. Another tremendous piece of music, Teho knocks it out of the park with this one. Stream this album below.

  12. The most highly anticipated set of Coachella 2024 went down yesterday at the Quasar Stage and it was one for the books. Eric Prydz played b2b with Anyma for several hours. Perhaps the coolest nugget in this set was the dual screens which hosted Eric Prydz HOLO visuals on one side with Anyma humanoids on the other. The set featured the two going track for track, and you can peep the tracklist here. The big moments came after the sun had set and the visuals came out in full force. The duo premiered a fresh collaborative mashup of Anyma’s Eternity with Eric’s Proper Education. Then, after a slightly awkward transition, OPUS came through with the ‘Simulation’ vocal and showed the two signature visual styles as if they were battling each other. Then, to close things out, the pair debuted a collaborative remix of the classic, ‘Somebody’s Watching Me’. From the beginning of the set with the gorgeous golden skies, to the nightfall visual treat of the two visual packages going at it, this set was one for the ages. We’re sure we will be seeing it again in 2024 or 2025. Since Coachella is relentless with their Facebook copyright takedowns, we can’t post the clips on Facebook. However, we have the replay stream from YouTube below, featuring the final 30 minutes of the set. Vidojean X Oliver Loenn press pic Layla Benitez Layla Benitez is the daughter of John Benitez, also known as Jellybean, who has produced and remixed artists like Madonna, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and the Pointer Sisters. She may have been in DJ booths since she was barely old enough to walk, but her DJing and production show that she is an artist who keeps changing and growing with each gig and experience. Her August 2021 Boiler Room set has an 80s synth-influenced sound that she calls “indie dance meets dark disco.” It’s a bright bridge between her home in Miami and her roots in New York. She spends a lot of time in the studio, where she works as a producer on both a melodic techno sound and a laid-back, heavy, deep groove that fits into the same soundscape. It’s not a mistake. While traveling the world and living at Space Miami, Layla has been on the cutting edge of both DJing and production every week. In the past few years, her work has been steadily on the rise. Layla was named a 2022 Future Star by DJ Mag. She has played to huge crowds at Coachella EXIT, Afterlife, Circoloco EDC, The Warehouse Project, Tomorrowland, Mayan Warrior, and important sites like DC-10, Red Rocks, Warung, and more. Diplo, CamelPhat, Pete Tong, Danny Howard, Damian Lazarus, Adam Port, Fideles, and Liva K. all gave their support. Layla Benitez MotherEarth Jules Brand’s MotherEarth takes you on a trip that connects your life to the vastness of everything around you and that connects you to everything else. One of MotherEarth’s most powerful ideas is that music is a way to show complete freedom. Pure energy that comes from a source. Motherearth gives his fans a place they can call their own, which is freeing and fulfilling. In the last few months of 2023 and early 2024, MotherEarth will put out music on great new labels started by well-known artists and work with them. MotherEarth has more than a dozen melodic techno tracks ready to be released. They were all made over the last year and are based on ten years of experience creating music. CamelPhat, Korolova, Kevin de Vries, Joris Voorn, Agents Of Time, and Rebūke all gave great assistance. I’m really excited to release my new collab ‘Usion’ together with Layla Benitez on Tomorrowland Music. ‘Usion’ is an auditory journey through the realms of illusion. With a powerful melodic drop that ignites the senses. The break melody sounds a bit like a classical piano piece, tying everything together nicely. I hope it resonates with you! – MotherEarth MotherEarth TigerBlind TigerBlind already have backing from artists like CamelPhat, Solomun, Dom Dolla, and Swedish House Mafia. The two musicians from Liverpool have had some success with their edit of Grum’s “Shout,” which led to the song’s official release on Anjunabeats. They have also recently remixed Camelphat & Ali Love’s “Compute.” Danny Howard, Pete Tong, and Sarah Story have all supported the up-and-coming pair on Radio 1, so the future looks bright for them. The Swedish House Mafia, Solomun, Dom Dolla, MEDUZA, CamelPhat, Above & Beyond, Solardo, Sonny Fodera, Goom Gum, Danny Howard, Pete Tong, Tiësto, Vintage Culture, Jaguar, and Cristoph have all given their support. We just like to get in the studio and see what works. If it feels natural and right then we will pursue the idea and finish it off. With ‘Raided’ we wanted to tip our hats to the nostalgic rave sound and I think we’ve achieved it with this record. We wanted to create something with a nostalgic feel and high energy that will sound great in any environment whether that be a club or maybe a festival setting. – Tigerblind TigerBlind KILL SCRIPT KILL SCRIPT‘s sound stories are deeply connected with fans all over the world because they are pulsing at the point where cinematic pictures and melodic techno meet. Each KILL SCRIPT show is like an immersive journey, with big music and productions that push the limits of their genre. They are always pushing the limits of the underground. KILL SCRIPT’s music is a mix of sci-fi movies and techno skills, which got them praise from Armada Music and quick praise in the house and techno communities. The rise of KILL SCRIPT is about to be unmatched, and he is ready to make this year his most important one yet. KILL SCRIPT will also officially remix Anyma’s new song “Pictures Of You,” which is set to come out later this spring. His First Contakt EP comes out on Night Mode. Support from Anyma, Tale of Us, Cassian, and Kevin de Vries stands out. ‘Gravity’ is my follow-up to my first track with Linney, ‘Line In the Sand’. After so much love from the fans on that track, we knew we had to go back into the studio and work on something totally new. I made ‘Gravity’ and instantly knew that Linney had to be a part of the record. Her voice is so angelic and mixing that vibe with the harsher synths within the melodic techno sound created a very special space. Solomun, Tiësto, Armin Van Buuren, Miss Monique, Boris Brejcha, Nora En Pure, Vintage Culture, and Korolova all gave their support. ‘Reset’ is the perfect track for every mix, I imagined to do a track like this as a passpartout switching the genre or the mood of a set, from one to the other and at the same time catching the crowd instantly with an energetic riff. – Spada Spada The post Tomorrowland’s Next Generation Artists: ‘RISE’ Vol. 1 EP appeared first on The Groove Cartel.
  14. One of the world’s top DJs has become embroiled in a bitter war of words with a leading Chinese singer over an alleged snub at a major music festival in Shanghai. Martin Garrix, the Dutch superstar DJ, was accused by Huang Zitao – known simply as Tao – of refusing to share a stage with him during a planned joint performance at the festival on Saturday night. Tao, 30, who shot to fame as a member of the South Korean-Chinese boyband EXO, launched an angry tirade against Garrix in a backstage livestream that has gone viral on Chinese social media. In the expletive-laden video, a visibly furious Tao accused Garrix of failing to show up for rehearsals, only to then take to the stage alone during their supposedly joint segment. “He did his part but wasn’t willing to perform with me on stage,” the singer raged. “I’m not on stage, yet they played my whole song, what am I gonna perform?” Tao said that in his decade-long career, he had “never encountered someone disrespecting him like this“, adding that organizers told him Garrix would only join on the day of the actual performance. “Because I myself I dont k’now him” If you don’t know about“martin Garrix” why you made an entire live stream crying because “He Doesn’t upload you at the stage” when was your fault not be Ready #NOCORRELATION pic.twitter.com/GQnBAaZBLR — Martin Garrix Info (@InfoGarrix) April 20, 2024 Huang Zitao at Ports 1961 Opening Ceremonie in Shanghai, October 13th, 2015 When Tao later took to the stage alone, he continued venting his anger, directly addressing and swearing at fans as he recounted his version of events. However, Garrix was quick to fight back against the accusations in a video of his own, claiming it had been well communicated in advance that the two artists would not actually perform together. Martin Garrix said organizers had planned for them to only take to the stage individually, with a possibility for Tao to join him briefly at the end for a “photo moment” and “outro” as his vocals played. But Garrix alleged that when this moment came and Tao’s song started, the singer himself was nowhere to be seen. “He was hiding in the toilets in his dressing room area to the point that there’s music playing, you can hear his voice on the speaker, but he’s not there, he’s not holding a microphone,” Garrix said. The DJ, whose global hits include Animals and In The Name of Love, also denied being absent from rehearsals, saying he was not even in China the previous day. He apologized to fans but lambasted the “misinformation and lies being spread” – in an apparent rebuke of Tao’s allegations. The feud has caused a social media storm in China, with Tao’s fans accusing Garrix’s camp of discriminating against the singer on account of his nationality. Others theorized there had been a breakdown in communication between the festival organizers and two performers. Neither artist has publicly commented further since posting their contrasting video statements in the early hours of Sunday morning. The controversy has brought renewed scrutiny on the lucrative practice of booking Western music stars to perform at high-profile events in China and other Asian markets. To welcome in their new era of Faithless, they are coming to a few cities before jumping into festival season. They will be returning to the stage with a new live show. It’s been 8 years since their last visit to the stage. Now, Brussels, Luxembourg, Amsterdam, and London will be able to witness these more intimidate shows before Glastonbury, Wildness, and Bestival. These will also be the first shows after the passing of the passing of bandmate and vocalist Maxi Jazz. Maxi Jazz, made up one-third of the trio and penned the iconic hit 1995 song ‘Insomnia’. Founding member, Sister Bliss, had some extremely kind words about their friend and the future: “These shows are going to be a celebration of all our years in music – what we love, what we stand for as a band, and a real tribute to Maxi as well. We’ve been working on this for months now so there is a theme, there is a feeling, there is a vibe to the show, and it’s exciting,” she continued. “It will still have the rawness and edge that our shows are known for, and I think that’s because we’ve thought really hard about what we want to say both sonically and visually.” We have shared some amazing memories with you over the years. Share your favourite Faithless memories and you could be in with a chance to win one of 5 pairs of tickets to a Faithless show of your choice, or some limited edition Faithless Merch. https://t.co/ehCxWaJZ4R pic.twitter.com/rUEHA8IEYP — Faithless (@faithless) April 18, 2024 “Obviously he won’t be there with us, but he’ll be there in spirit, and so the whole thing is a very new and different thing for us,” Sister Bliss shared. “I really hope people are going to get stuck in and dance, and really lose themselves in the music, because that’s what people have always done at a Faithless gig.” Tickets Presale for the tickets can be found HERE.
