Miami’s Club Space Closing Temporarily for Safety Upgrades
Miami’s legendary nightclub, Club Space, will undergo renovations and safety improvements at its 11th Street location, prompting a temporary closure starting June 2nd. The venue teased a fall reopening on their Instagram page, ensuring fans they’ll be back dancing soon. The hiatus is necessary to improve safety measures and comply with building codes, as Club Space co-owners Coloma Kaboomsky, David Sinopoli, and Davide Danese explained to Resident Advisor. This involves demolishing one staircase and constructing a new one that creates a direct passage connecting the club’s emergency exits to both the main entrance on the ground floor and the dance floor. None of these changes or the upcoming condo buildings pose an existential threat to Space, says David Sinopoli. he city has worked with us to come up with the safest renovation for the club. We were fortunate enough to have developers on 11th Street that were aligned with us on the future of nightlife in downtown Miami, which is Space, E11EVEN and a flourishing 24-hour district. David Sinopoli – Space Kaboomsky assured fans that the renovations will “preserve the aesthetics and the feel” of Club Space, while complying with health and safety codes. While Space is on hiatus, the Link Miami Rebels crew will be shifting programming to the fan favorite, Factory Town. To celebrate before the closure, Club Space is throwing epic “closing party marathons” across the last two weekends of May. Stay tuned for future announcements regarding their grand reopening later this summer. The post Miami’s Club Space Closing Temporarily for Safety Upgrades appeared first on EDMTunes.

EDMTunes Chats with ARTBAT
ARTBAT is the Ukrainian duo that needs no introduction. They have played at every big festival and venue in the world by now, and are currently coming off a short US tour, including two standout shows at Coachella Festival. We sat down with them recently to find out what keeps them fit and energized despite their heavy schedule, and how their 2024 has been so far… EDMTunes: Hey guys, how has the first part of 2024 been for you – what has stood out? Thanks for having us. Always a pleasure having a chat with you guys 2024 has been very busy so far. We have released a couple of records already. Our collab ¨Breathe In¨ with Cay (Another Life), a remix for Meduza´s ¨Friends¨ and obviously an absolute honor and highlight was the collaboration ¨Take Off¨ with our friend Armin van Buuren. Definitely a great experience having joined him on MainStage at Ultra Music Festival Miami. Touring wise we have been had excellent and outstanding tours in North and South America beginning of the year. The shows in Argentina, Brazil etc are next level and with an unbeatable vibe. EDMTunes: Festival season is well and truly underway – how do you stay fit, healthy, and energized when on the road and playing these big shows? You need to keep a healthy mind and don’t forget to take some time for yourself and your loved ones. It’s important to stay sane. The energy comes automatically playing all these amazing festivals throughout the summer. We can’t wait to share the stages with our friends in the circuit, see mind-blowing sites and also meet with all our fans/supporters. EDMTunes: How much prep do you do for each one to ensure each one sounds fresh both for the fans but also yourselves? Do you do edits, repack your digital record bags etc? We are in constant exchange of how we can improve each and every set. In an ideal world, we try to surprise audiences with new and fresh music as much as possible. That being said we have some real exciting new music we wanna share with everyone. EDMTunes: You have two Coachella shows coming up – how will they differ? What does it feel like to play twice at that legendary place? Coachella has always been and is an outstanding show. Thrilled to be part of such an iconic and unique festival. The diversity, atmosphere and attendance every year is outstanding. How the shows will differ? Better to have another interview after the festival and we can share our experiences EDMTunes: You also played Miami last Saturday – does hot sun and warm weather change the sort of music you play, does it influence your moods and grooves? That doesn’t really affect our moods or influence our style. We always stay true to the ARTBAT signature sound. But that being said, nobody says ¨No¨ to the sunshine, palm trees and warm weather. EDMTunes: What are crowds in the USA like compared to elsewhere around the world? What makes them unique? Tough to say. Actually, every city even in the US has different crowds. But we always receive a lot of love whenever we tour in the States. Miami has indeed been special for the past shows. EDMTunes: What do you pack in your travel bag? What are the key essentials that you have learnt to take with you to make life easier and more comfortable? The usual really. Nothing too exciting It really depends how long the tour is going. You definitely have to think a lot more when you are 2-3 weeks +- on the road. But clearly we can’t fly without USBs, Headphones and our Laptops. EDMTunes: Do you make music on the road, or only when home in the studio? Does playing gigs inspire the music you make, are the two related like that? Indeed the gigs are inspiring us. We get a lot of ideas on the road. Playing an exciting show and getting the energy from the dance floor is always an inspiration of course. EDMTunes: What else have you got coming up/are you working on? Music side: We have a remix for Chemical Brothers ¨Hey Boy, Hey Girl¨ coming next and plenty of releases on our own imprint Upperground. Everyone should definitely stay tuned. Can’t wait to share some more big news soon with everyone. Touring side: Coachella is a highlight this week for sure and we have 2 exciting Upperground showcases in May. May 11 at Atlas Arena Lodz Poland for our second edition there and on May 12 we are very very excited to be the first electronic dance music event inside the legendary Santiago Bernabeu Estadio (Real Madrid) in Madrid Spain. Deathpact Reveals Debut Album Alongside Stunning Single, "HOLD ON"
After years of secrecy, Deathpact is finally ready to release its debut album, FROM DARKNESS. According to a press release shared with EDM.com, the anonymous electronic music project's "initial DebUt ALbum transmission" will drop on May 31st. The release may be more than just an album, considering the capitalized letters spell out "DUAL." However, true to the enigmatic nature of Deathpact, only time will tell. In addition to the album's reveal, the collective has shared the next single off FROM DARKNESS after last month's "NEMESIS." A vocal-driven departure, "HOLD ON" is a plaintive track with smooth, languid production not often found within their distorted arrangements. Its aching keys, however, ultimately vanish and give way to a menacing drum & bass drop with crunching saws and hyperactive drums. This new single follows the reveal of Deathpact's "Eternity Research Group" experience, which will see fans in Denver go through an initiation and training before earning access to a VIP section of its Mission Ballroom show in June. Watch ISOxo Take Over an Underground Parking Garage for Riveting DEF Debut
Before taking the stage at Coachella, ISOxo threw down heaters in an underground parking garage. Back in February, the rising electronic music superstar teamed up with DEF, a red-hot promoter showcasing the sounds of the alternative in unique locations. For over 90 minutes, the EDM.com Class of 2022 star took over a parking garage in Atlanta for a riveting DJ set. DEF is a women-owned promoter who's made serious noise in the underground with their intimate, gritty DIY events featuring the sounds that major promoters might deem too off-the-wall. This dedication to the experimental has earned DEF millions of plays, major festival and venue pop-ups, and countless groundbreaking showcases. Considering ISO has quickly become a headlining name reserved for the nation's biggest stages, his intimate DEF debut is a rarity. Attendees packed around the underground stage for the performance, wherein he dropped fan-favorite like "Stinger," "dontstopme!" and "how2fly" alongside a bevy of unreleased IDs, including a long-awaited collaboration with Skrillex. "I do have a lot of music in the works," ISOxo told us in a late-2023 interview at the time of his massive debut album. "I just feel very creatively free now that the album's done, and there are a handful of collabs that I'm itching to get out." You can watch ISOxo's full DEF set below. Purified Records Celebrates 20th Fragments Release
Electronic music is a field that is always changing, but Purified Records has already made a name for itself. With a strong focus on quality and a keen eye for new artists, the label has consistently released cutting-edge soundscapes. The label is now celebrating an important anniversary by releasing the long-awaited twentieth album in their popular Fragments series (XX). The compilation: Fragments XX Fragments XX is a musical tapestry made by three very talented artists. Each of these brings a unique musical view to the project. Palisade and Affektion, a dynamic duo, are leading the way with their track “Hurt Enough,” which sets the tone for the trip ahead. A flawless arrangement lets the track soar to great heights, carried by soaring voices and shimmering synths that surround the listener in a dreamy soundscape. Next on the list is TsuruSwing‘s “Okutama,” a melodic piece that expertly combines traditional and modern elements. This piece, which is built around a beautiful piano break, shows how well the artist can combine different types of music, making for an interesting and moving listening experience. “Paradigm,” Krokha‘s dramatic track that takes the listener into a deeper dimension, is the last track on the collection. With its growling bass lines and leading pads, this sound journey shows that the label is dedicated to pushing the limits and discovering the deepest corners of electronic experimentation. Daniel Nicholson and his cover photo Fragments XX isn’t just a collection of great songs, though; it’s also a feast for the eyes and ears. The cover art for the album was taken by the famous underwater photographer Daniel Nicholson. It shows a beautiful school of fish. This picture is not just a pick for its beauty; it also shows very well how schooling fish move together in a coordinated way. Fish that school, like the ones in the painting, have an amazing ability to coordinate and talk to each other. They move in synced groups to avoid being eaten by predators, find food more efficiently, and have more babies. This group behavior makes the fish look scary and confused, which makes it hard for predators to target specific fish within the group. Nicholson took this beautiful picture of the Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia. It’s a powerful reminder of how beautiful and fragile the underwater world is. It is becoming more and more threatened by humans and the terrible effects of climate change. Purified Fragments XX cover by photographer Daniel Nicholson Let’s save the ocean with the music and the Ocean Conservancy In this light, Purified Records’ choice to work with the Ocean Conservancy, a group whose mission is to protect the oceans around the world, becomes even more important. Raising knowledge and helping with conservation efforts is important to the label, and it fits perfectly with the Fragments series’ philosophy of pushing limits and questioning what people think they know. Fragments XX brings together artistic expression and environmental action, which is great for people who love both music and the ocean. The sounds of Palisade, Affektion, TsuruSwing, and Krokha will enchant you. Let the images of the swimming fish take you to the depths of the ocean, where a world of wonder and strength awaits. The trip doesn’t end there, though. All of us can help protect this important environment for future generations by giving our support to groups like the Ocean Conservancy and Only One, whose goal is to improve ocean health and fight climate change. ‘a beautiful morning’ Is The Expressive Debut EP From Techno Artist ‘Max by the way’ + Artist Interview
This spring, immerse yourself in “A Beautiful Morning,” the latest techno project by Parisian DJ and producer, Max by the Way. This EP signifies a pivotal rise in dance music, distinguished by its authentic analog production. Departing from sample-dense soundscapes, the album introduces robust synths and pads, igniting anticipation for what’s next. Launching this EP was a way for me to articulate these new ideas and affirm my ability to produce work that aligns with my artistic vision and direction. The collection captures a compelling mix of influences from the 90s and early 2000s, reflecting a significant phase in my sound. For those eager to explore a fresh chapter in techno, “A Beautiful Morning” awaits. Introduce yourself and your project I am a bludgeoning techno artist fueled by passion and exploration. From the earliest echoes of pop and trance tracks, music has became more than just a fascination, ”it became a lifelong devotion. These genres became the canvas upon which I painted my “sonic picture”, each beat and melody carrying a different fragment of my story. Collaboration has been a cornerstone of my career, especially with my closest confidant, Vincent Jane. Together, we have crafted a single that remains a high watermark in my career, and with the emergence of our own label, Jump in tha Crowd, we’re on the path to carry out a range of the most innovative and artistic events. Under the moniker “Max By the Way”, I have cultivated a persona that places the music above the musician. Guided by this philosophy, I always ensure that every note produced takes center stage, resonating with listeners on a deeply visceral level. At the core of my artistry lies a fusion of electronic, techno, and house, interwoven with subtle hints of pop influence. This eclectic blend reflects my diverse musical roots and the evolution of my sound. My music serves as a diary of soundscapes, each track a chapter in a larger narrative of exploration and expression. Explain what musical genre fits you best I identify most closely with the electronic music spectrum, particularly within the realms of House and Techno. Although I enjoy listening to a wide array of music, my own productions are deeply rooted in minimal and melodic techno. I pride myself on my versatility and resist confining my creativity to specific categories. Preferring a boundary-free approach to production, I am drawn to exploring a variety of styles that resonate with me. This openness ensures a dynamic and ever-evolving musical output that reflects my broad artistic inclinations and personal taste. Were you connected with music from a young age and did anyone inspire you? From a very young age, I was deeply connected to music, beginning with the pop rhythms of Jamiroquai, the transformative electronic sounds of Moby, and the entrancing music of various trance artists. These diverse musical influences not only shaped my early auditory experiences but also laid the groundwork for my later explorations into the broader electronic genre. Each artist brought a distinct flavour to my musical palette, encouraging a deep-seated appreciation for sound and its infinite possibilities. What kickstarted your music career? My music career took off when I dared to start producing after founding MLV Studio with my two best friends. This venture thrust me into the music world, allowing me to fully immerse myself in music production—a field I had always wanted to explore. Specific events, like our showcases across Europe, particularly at EGG London, were pivotal. While I’ve always been passionate about music, I initially hesitated to create it. Overcoming this fear marked a transformative moment, unleashing my artistic side. This liberation extended into my personal life as well, as the music I create is a reflection of my life, my mood, and my desire to express myself. This journey has not just been about music, but a profound expression of my identity. Tell us more about your sound and how it’s evolved over time. My music predominantly focuses on analog sound processing as much as possible, reflecting a commitment to authenticity and warmth in production. Over time, however, sampling has also played a significant role in shaping my tracks. This technique involves creatively slicing and integrating various sounds, allowing me to blend traditional elements with modern influences seamlessly. My sound as a result has evolved into a rich, textured landscape that respects the roots of electronic music while continuously pushing its boundaries. The blend of analog and sampled sounds has become a hallmark of my musical identity, enabling me to craft a unique auditory experience for my listeners. Any words you want to share to encourage other artists or producers? I believe it’s crucial to fully immerse yourself in music production and to not hold back. Fear can often deter us from releasing our work but it’s essential to overcome this. Sharing your creations is one of the most rewarding experiences when you truly love music. Don’t be afraid to express yourself and let your musical ideas flow. Each piece you release not only contributes to your growth as an artist but also enriches the broader musical landscape. Remember, every great track started as an idea that someone was brave enough to pursue. How do you nurture your industry relationships? I actively cultivate my industry relationships by attending numerous events featuring artists I admire. I also co-founded a record label, Jump in tha Crowd Records, with my best friend to maintain our independence and foster a strong artistic direction. We also organise events known as MLV Party, which serve as a platform for networking and collaboration within the music community. These initiatives not only allow me to stay connected with peers but also help in promoting mutual growth and creating opportunities for upcoming talents. By engaging directly with the community and contributing to its vibrancy, I strengthen my relationships and establish a supportive network. Is there anyone you’d like to thank that’s been crucial to your journey? I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has played a crucial role in this journey. I’m grateful for the artistic direction provided by myself, Vincent Grimaud (@vincegmd), and Adele Pedron; their collective vision has truly shaped the aesthetic and impact of our work. Special thanks go to Adele Pedron in particular, whose exceptional visuals have greatly enriched this project—her work can be admired on her profile @adele.ped. I also owe much appreciation to Paul from Berlin for his expert mastering that brought our sound to life. I am proud to release this project with Jump in tha Crowd Records, whose support has been invaluable. To all involved, your contributions have not only enhanced this project but have also deepened my artistic expression and reach. Name 3 songs you love and what they mean to you + Youtube links “Moby – Porcelain”: This profound track by Moby has resonated with me since childhood and continues to inspire me today. I treasure it for its avant-garde soundscapes and breathtaking beauty. “Jamiroquai – White Knuckle Ride”: I adore this song for its vivid recall of my childhood and the irresistible groove that I love. It perfectly encapsulates the energetic and funky spirit I admire in music. “Black Eyed Peas – Meet Me Halfway”: This track is uniquely memorable and I thoroughly enjoy the vibe of the Black Eyed Peas. It also harks back to my childhood, echoing the sounds that have shaped who I am today. Overall, the music from my childhood has profoundly influenced who I am now, both personally and in my musical passion. These tracks not only provided a soundtrack to my early years but also continue to inspire and shape my artistic expressions. What’s your favourite piece of studio equipment or software? I would have to say that the MicroKorg is my favorite piece of studio equipment as it was my first synthesizer. It’s truly fantastic because you can create a vast array of great sounds with it, thanks to its numerous effects and creative options. The presets are also excellent. By connecting it with my SSL 2+ sound card, I achieve an incredible sound quality that really resonates with me and fuels my creativity. This setup not only enhances my productions but also brings a vibrant energy to my music-making process. Name your favourite club or festival and how it makes you feel My favourite club is Cadavra, located in the legendary Malasaña district of Madrid. I have a particular fondness for this venue because of the sophisticated music selection that maintains a sharp, cutting-edge vibe while welcoming a clientele that comes to enjoy the sounds without any pretensions — everyone is friendly and laid-back. The visuals and light shows further enhance this wild experience, making each visit memorable. I’ve spent countless unforgettable nights at Cadavra, where the atmosphere and music combine to create a truly magical setting. Favourite clubbing memory and who or what did it involve? My favourite clubbing memory dates back to the first event I organized with my collective, MLV Studio, which I founded with my two best friends. It was a sold-out night at the iconic EGG London, a landmark club in the city. We had invited artists like TELMA, who was just beginning her DJ career at the time. The event was not only a significant breakthrough for us but also a thrilling discovery for the audience. The energy and excitement of that night remain vivid in my memory, marking a pivotal moment in our collective journey. What famous quote represents you best? Less is more. If you could play at any venue, where would it be and why? I would love to play at Fabric in London; it’s a dream venue for me. The renowned sound system and stunning visuals at Fabric would provide the perfect platform to showcase my musical universe to a large audience. The opportunity to perform there would not only allow me to fully immerse the crowd in my sound but also connect with them on a profound level. Fabric’s reputation for hosting world-class events makes it an ideal stage for sharing my artistic expressions and further establishing my presence in the global music scene. Music is….. (explain more) For me, music is a means of expression and a way to embrace my passion, which has always been centerd around music. It provides a unique outlet through which I can communicate my feelings, ideas, and visions to the world. Music allows me to translate my inner experiences into something tangible and shared, connecting me with others on a deeply emotional level. Through music, I find both a voice and a refuge, continually fueling my creativity and passion. One song you really couldn’t live without and why? “Veridis Quo” by Daft Punk is a song I absolutely couldn’t live without. I love this track deeply—it stirs so many emotions in me, illustrating the profound impact that music can have. It’s astounding how a piece of music can evoke such strong feelings of affection and connection. This song resonates with me on many levels, providing not just auditory pleasure but also a meaningful emotional journey each time I listen to it. It’s a timeless piece that continues to inspire and move me, no matter how often I hear it. Namedrop your favourite 5 artists or DJs (past or present) My top five favorite artists and DJs, spanning both the past and present, include Moby, Daft Punk, Solomun, The Weeknd, and Travis Scott. Each artist brings a unique sound and style to the music scene, from Moby’s ambient and electronic mastery, to Daft Punk’s revolutionary approach to house music. Solomun is renowned for his deep house DJ sets, while The Weeknd offers a distinct blend of contemporary R&B with a dark, atmospheric tone. Travis Scott rounds out the list with his innovative and energetic approach to hip-hop. These artists have significantly shaped my musical taste and continue to inspire my own creative endeavours. What was your first music memory and how did it fuel your fire? My earliest music memory involves spending time with my family as we listened to Mika, a French artist based in London. We would play his newly released album on repeat in the car during our summer drives. Those moments were incredibly joyful and filled with a sense of adventure and happiness that only music can provide. This experience not only introduced me to the powerful impact of music on emotions and atmosphere, but also ignited my passion for music. It showed me how songs could capture and enhance the spirit of moments, driving me to explore music more deeply as both a listener and later as a creator. Tell us more about your plans for the future I aim to further develop my music and deepen my understanding of sound creation and design. My ultimate goal is to master the art of producing music that not only resonates with a wide audience but also allows me to sustain myself financially through my artistic endeavours. I hope that one day I will be able to fully support myself through the music I create, turning my passion into a viable career. This journey is about constant learning and growth, and I am committed to evolving my skills to reach this dream. Any worldly advice you’d like to share? Continue making music and embrace the joy of life. It’s essential to find happiness in your passions and everyday experiences. Music can be a powerful companion on this journey, enriching your life and lifting your spirits. Remember, the key to a fulfilling life is to enjoy the process and the moments that come your way. Book of the Month – Darcus Beese autobiography – Rebel With A Cause
‘Rebel With A Cause’ is the remarkable story of Darcus Beese: legendary music-industry executive, OBE and a man Music Week described as “one of the great A&R people of his or any generation”. It is the inspirational story of how a teenage Londoner (and apprentice hairdresser) worked his way up from being the ‘tea boy’ to becoming the President of one of the UK’s biggest and most successful record labels – Island Records. From signing and nurturing some of the greatest artists of the twenty-first century including Amy Winehouse, Mumford & Sons, Dizzee Rascal, Florence and the Machine and more, to him moving to New York to run Island USA but becoming despondent at what he saw and encountered. To be published on 15 August through Nine Eight, the dedicated music imprint of Bonnier Books UK. Pre-orders are available now from HERE. Alongside Darcus’s career successes, ‘Rebel with a Cause’ is also the story of a young man raised in musically fertile and politically febrile times. Activist parents Darcus Howe and Barbara Beese were prominent activists in west London, and members of the Mangrove Nine, during a time when racism was rife, not only on the streets, in schools and on the terraces, but also in the highest institutions of power. Fighting for equality – for himself and for his artists – has therefore been inevitable for Darcus. This is the incredible tale of an inspirational leader and rebel with a true cause. Darcus Beese said: ‘It feels unreal to me. As a kid, I never thought or dreamed that one day I would be writing my story, let alone having it published. But now I think why not me? Growing up in a family of activists, a mother and father who fought to change British society, I’ve always understood the importance of using your voice, and always felt a duty to speak my mind and stand up for what was right. Writing the book, looking back over my fifty-plus years, I really appreciate how blessed I am to have such a strong beautiful family and to have enjoyed the most amazing experiences working alongside some of the greatest musical talents. Hopefully, there’s plenty more to come. If this book inspires one kid to believe in themselves, to stay true to themselves, then it’ll be worthwhile.’ Pete Selby – publishing director of Nine Eight Books – said: ‘Darcus is one of the truly great music people of the past twenty-five years; a compassionate firebrand, musical zealot and no-bullsh*t ringleader. But Rebel With A Cause is also a book about family – be that growing up with his revolutionary parents Darcus Howe and Barbara Beese, at his second home of Island Records or the impact and influence of his own children. It’s an incredible story about how one man played a system which was stacked against him from birth and ended up going all the way to the top.’ Darcus Beese (OBE) was the president of Island Records in the UK and the first black CEO of a UK record company. He is also largely regarded as the best A&R man of his generation, signing and nurturing the likes of Amy Winehouse, Florence and the Machine, and Mumford and Sons. His family background is no less enthralling. His father was activist and broadcaster Darcus Howe and his mother was Barbara Beese, former UK Black Panther. Both were featured in the 2021 Steve McQueen short film ‘Mangrove’ as part of his Small Axe series. Darcus has recently launched his own label in a joint venture with Warner Music UK. ‘Rebel With a Cause’ will be published on 15 August in hardback, eBook and audiobook The post Book of the Month – Darcus Beese autobiography – Rebel With A Cause appeared first on Decoded Magazine.

SF Producer Buns Releases Warehouse Bass Anthem ‘ALLIWANNA’
San Francisco-based DJ and producer Buns is back with a fire-breathing exploration of the underground club scene with her latest track, ‘ALLIWANNA.’ This pulsating anthem is a full-on dive into the heart-stopping world of warehouse bass. ‘ALLIWANNA’ throbs with intense energy, its core built around pounding kicks and gritty, pulsating acid synths. Classic breakbeats weave their way through the aggressive basslines, creating a perfect soundscape to unwind and groove to. The track captures the simmering tension and inevitable explosion of energy that comes from holding back all day long. The repetitive ‘ALL I WANNA’ vocal builds towards a tipping point, representing that moment when you just need to escape and unleash all that pent-up rage and energy on the dance floor. The powerful drops feel like pure dancefloor bliss, while the warm chords evoke the warm sense of community you find in those late-night havens. Here’s what Buns had to say about the release: “All I want to do is feel the energy of the floor, the drums, the atmosphere, the people. I love that ascension and I love getting there by any means necessary. You don’t need a real genre or any song lyrics necessarily, you just need that energy.” This latest release comes hot on the heels of Buns’ support slot on Nitepunk’s Human Experience tour. It also follows her impressive performance opening for Devault at his sold-out San Francisco show during the Sensations tour. She will continue with this momentum into the summer, with her Outside Lands festival debut at the SOMA tent where she will be showcasing her NURAVE sound. Nathan Katz Graces The Industry With Four-Tracker Parallax EP
All Day I Dream and its Organic roster never cease to amaze. Delivering the Organic House choons for you all! We’re delighted to share the news that Argentinian producer Nathan Katz released an impressive EP just last week. The collection, which contains not one, not two, but four tracks, is titled Parallax, and is out now on our beloved blue-and-white label. If you see a blue sky and a cloud for an artwork, you know we’re talking about All Day I Dream, Lee Burridge’s Organic House imprint. Nathan Katz. He who’s seen quite the meteoric rise from his debut tracks in 2017, Katz quickly caught the attention of heavyweights Lee Burridge and Nick Warren, among many others. Featured for the first time in 2022’s A Winter Sampler IV compilation, Nathan’s interaction with the label goes a relatively long way, and this EP is sure not to be his last contribution to it. Parallax very welcomingly sits on the more groovy and heavy side of the Organic House spectrum. Four tracks describe the story of Nathan’s vision of his music, which he recognises as a blend of several influences that span much further than Dance music itself. “The direction of an object appears to differ when viewed from different positions… Parallax.” -Nathan Katz. Nathan Katz – Parallax EP Tracklist Parallax Moonlight Flamingo with Molac Dreamland ‘Parallax’ Immersive, mysterious, warm, euphoric. All in one package. Can you top an experience like this? It’s tough. No wonder this is the one song that gave the EP its name. Don’t get me wrong, the succeeding tracks are truly marvellous, but this one is something else. It’s one of those tracks that can really put you into a trance. Few track number ones have really been my favourite of the bunch in my life, it’s this EP, and Above & Beyond’s ‘Tri-State’. Quite the award on my end if you ask me. ‘Moonlight’ Super groovy, unbelievably so. And that’s a good thing. It’s playful, with the contrast of the little shy plucks, the chord progressions, the vocal, the bass, and, well, the star of the show, the incredibly tasty percussion lines. Ever went for a late-night snack on a drive thru after a party? The sensation of that first bite in the middle of the night, this track is the sonic equivalent. ‘Flamingo’ Second place for me. What a track, what a journey! Because there’s no other way of properly addressing this, other than a journey. As much as you can notice Molac’s hand on the record — a producer who’s now leading the Sendas Music Collective movement bringing an entirely new dimension of Organic power to the game —, there’s a lovely change in the break. It shifts your body from the dancefloor to Heaven, and back. I won’t anticipate what it is, your homework is to feel it. ‘Dreamland’ The perfect ending to a spectacular four-course auditive delight. Dancefloor-oriented at its most crowded sections, and made for self-reflection melody-wise, the closing track of the EP gives you one final angle from which to look at Katz’s work. And what a well-done work it is, if I’m honest with you. This one I see as the perfect high-energy encore for a Full Moon party by the beach. Don’t ask me why, but I feel it! Bingo Revolution: From Rotary Clubs To Nightclub Dance Parties
Bingo, once considered a game for retirees in smoky bingo halls, has undergone a dramatic transformation in recent years. The traditional image of bingo dabbers and quiet concentration has been replaced by a vibrant, immersive experience that has taken the urban nightlife scene, quite frankly by surprise. Originating in the U.K., this new wave has slowly captivated young adults with its unique blend of nostalgia, excitement, and party vibes. One of the key players in this bingo revolution is Bongo’s Bingo, a phenomenon that has quickly gained popularity in over 40 countries, including a highly anticipated pop-up show in New York City. The shift from a stodgy Rotary Club favorite to the centerpiece of alcohol-and-nacho-fueled Dance parties is a testament to the power of reinvention and innovation. As bingo enthusiasts seek new ways to engage with the game, entrepreneurs have embraced the challenge of creating unforgettable experiences that cater to a younger, more diverse audience. One such pioneer comes to be Hijingo, a permanent bingo nightclub in London, looking to bring this exciting concept to the States. With a portfolio that includes Flight Club, a “social darts” chain, and AceBounce, a “social ping pong” restaurant in Chicago, its founder, Harris, understands the appeal of immersive entertainment that offers a unique and affordable night out. Don’t be fooled, though, since at Hijingo in London, patrons are not just playing bingo; they are part of a riotous, interactive show that blends humor, competition, and camaraderie. As Harris aptly puts it, guests are trading in expensive steakhouse dinners for a more affordable yet equally entertaining experience. The rise of bingo as a nightlife phenomenon is not just a passing trend but a cultural shift that reflects the changing preferences and desires of a new generation seeking fun, social connection, and a break from the ordinary. The Rise of Bingo in America Bongo’s Bingo While bingo as immersive entertainment for young adults originated in the U.K., it is now making inroads in America, captivating audiences with its unique blend of nostalgia and modern flair. Bongo’s Bingo, with its global reach and energetic atmosphere, has been instrumental in introducing Americans to this reinvented version of the classic game. The upcoming pop-up show in New York City is just one example of how bingo is transcending its traditional boundaries and captivating a whole new audience. What sets bingo nightlife apart is its ability to appeal to a younger demographic who may not have grown up playing the game. By infusing bingo with elements of nightlife culture, such as music, dancing, and interactive performances, venues like Hijingo are able to attract a diverse crowd looking for a unique plan. This fusion of traditional bingo with modern entertainment has breathed new life into the game, turning it into a must-try experience for those seeking something different from the standard club scene. The Future of Bingo Nightlife Hijingo Bingo UK With the success of Bongo’s Bingo and the growing popularity of bingo nightclubs like Hijingo, the future of bingo nightlife looks bright and promising. As more entrepreneurs and innovators embrace the concept of immersive entertainment, we can expect to see even more creative and exciting ways to experience bingo in the years to come. The affordability and accessibility of bingo nightclubs make them an attractive option for young adults looking for a fun and memorable night out. So, the next time you’re looking for a night out that’s anything but ordinary, consider stepping into the world of bingo nightlife and see where the numbers take you. Who knows, you might just find yourself dancing the night away, surrounded by neon lights, disco balls, and the unmistakable thrill of a bingo win. [Event Review] Project Glow Hosts Amazing Pre And Afterparties
This past weekend marked the third anniversary of Project Glow in Washington D.C.’s RFK Stadium. Check out our review of the festival itself here. In addition to the already stacked lineup, the festival offered seven amazing pre and afterparties for attendees to explore during the weekend taking place at staple DC venues EchoStage & SoundCheck. EDMTunes was able to attend the Wax Motif Preparty and the highly anticipated Zedd B2B Knock2 Afterparty, both of which took place at EchoStage. The venue was voted the best venue in North America in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll in 2021 and despite not taking the title this year, they still provided us with world-class production, one of the best sound systems in this hemisphere and an amazing time. Both events (including the sold-out Zedd B2B Knock2 event) felt full, but not overcrowded, bathrooms were clean and efficient, and there were plenty of bars and service spaces for drinks and refreshments. Wax Motif Australian Tech House and G-House producer Wax Motif has been a titan in the scene and is no stranger to curating his own events. This intimate show was held in 360 style. Support acts included Koster, TOBEHONEST and VNNSA. This was a Tech House lover’s dream event and the vibes were amazing. People were respectful, the music was pumping, and it was a great appetizer for the long weekend of music ahead. In his 2-hour set, Wax showed off some amazing new IDs and edits that he would not normally be able to play in a 1-hour festival slot. It was amazing to be able to see what he has been cooking recently. Zedd B2B Knock2 When this B2B event was announced, internauts lost their minds! Knock2 has been slowly taking over and is a rising artist known for his versatility and high-energy sets. His ability to connect with his audience is unmatched in the scene right now. Zedd is, well, a legend in the industry and one of the OG EDM pioneers. His work in the 2010s led to the popularization of EDM and contributed to the commercial success of so many after him. However, Zedd is NOT known for playing live with others, and he is almost always only seen solo in shows and festivals. It came as a surprise to many that he would be sharing the stage with one of today’s rising stars. The two artists’ styles worked extremely well together. I will admit I had my doubts about Zedd’s ability to match some of Knock2’s energy, but those concerns ended up being unwarranted as they were both able to blow my mind drop after drop. The two ducked and weaved between almost all genres in the EDM spectrum and played everything from EDM classics to current hits, to completely unexpected mashups left and right that kept everybody on their toes. The afterparties were (in all honesty) the most fun I had all weekend. Looking forward to what the next batch of Project Glow events will bring in 2025. Here they impress once more and say of the EP. “For us it has always been important to convey strong emotion through our music. With In The Dark, we fuse comforting nostalgia and energising, inspiring sounds that bring promise for the future. There’s no feeling quite like witnessing everyone coming together as one, reflecting on that emotion”. Moreover, In The Dark opens up with the title track containing dark beats and flashy synths that bring light. Background pads are edgy and twitchy textures make this another arresting cut for the club. ‘Better’ then hits hard with hammering kick drums and rumbling bass all backlit with evocative and celestial synths, while ‘In The Machine’ closes down with an acid touch and linear tech drum that locks you in as freaky vocals and pulsating trance synths all race on beneath a hypnotic vocal hook. Co-op Live Arena Cancels Opening Show For the Third Time
The Co-op Live Arena in Manchester canceled its opening show for the third time minutes before doors open on May 1. According to an article from the Manchester Evening News, the main headliner for the May 1 show was legendary rapper A Boogie wit da Hoodie and the major reason for the cancellation of the show was because before the event kicked off, a part from the A/C unit fell from the gantry and onto the venue floor. Afterwards, event organizers then told the fans to leave the venue because of “technical issues”, 10 minutes before the opening act got on stage. The Co-op Live Arena in Manchester is a 23,500-capacity venue and the spokesperson then told the press that there were no injuries. Additionally, the event organizers are working on a plan to reschedule in the next few days. The Co-op Live Arena and its cancellations The previous show cancellations of the arena go back to April 20, the original projected date of the venue’s grand opening. That date’s original planned headliner was top 80s music icon, Rick Astley, and more cancellations for shows on April 23 and 24 then came along afterwards. Mixmag reported that those cancellations were because of “last-minute work” that needed to complete before the full completion of the venue. Soon after the May 1 incident, Co-op Live Arena then announced cancellations of the upcoming shows for May 3 and 4, which would have had Olivia Rodrigo as the headliners for those two dates. It’s now only a matter of time until the arena will reopen, especially since the arena should definitely do more work on ensuring that it will have improved and enhanced infrastructure modifications so that future events can start to happen. Calvin Harris Teases New Track With Mystery Collaborator Speculated To Be Miley Cyrus
Calvin Harris took to socials yesterday (May 1st) to tease a new track, with a surprise collaborator many speculate to be Miley Cyrus. The DJ/producer posted a 50-second snippet of the song paired with a video clip of the beach. The mysteriously vague caption was simply three wave emojis. While we don’t know much else about the track or when we can expect its release, we can tell it’s going to be another Calvin Harris insta-hit. With lyrics like “We were dancing, we were wild in the ocean,” the mystery artist’s soothing vocals sing over gentle acoustic guitar, which later morphs into a bright EDM beat. “When the crowd is all around me, you’re still all I see.” Check out the new song teaser below and stay tuned for more info. Harris released his last single, ‘Lovers In A Past Life (with Rag’n’Bone man)‘ back in February, and it’s since seen official remixes from the likes of Westend, Felix Jaehn, and LP Giobbi. He hasn’t released a full-length album since 2022’s Funk Wav Bounces, Vol. 2, which debuted at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 that August. Perhaps this new teaser marks the start of a new album. One can only speculate for now but stay tuned for more details. The post Calvin Harris Teases New Track With Mystery Collaborator Speculated To Be Miley Cyrus appeared first on EDMTunes.
