[Interview] Nicole Moudaber Touches On 10 Years Of “In The Mood” & Championing Women In Electronic Music
A vibe, a mood, a dream. Nicole Moudaber personifies female empowerment. A philanthropist and car racer, she landed in the Techno Capital of the world to celebrate Movement Festival and close the weekend to celebrate a decade of her radio show, label, and event production In The Mood. Moments before her set, we sat down with Moudaber in the green room of the Magic Stick in Detroit to reflect on her journey, some light banter, and upcoming crazy projects. We’re on Memorial Day with Nicole Moudaber. At the afterparty, celebrating 10 years of In The Mood, how are we feeling? NM: Feeling good! where did time go? I have no idea, it feels like yesterday when it all started. I didn’t get to play yesterday at Movement Festival because of the rain, so we will make up for it tonight. Yeah, we’re glad we get to see you tonight! Besides the festival, you were also doing a Beatport social media takeover yesterday, correct? NM: Well it was funny, we were trying to catch some sets but when the rain started. I tore up a piece of plastic sheet from the stage to cover myself. So that was the fashion for the evening. Hahaha, we love it. Just make a poncho out of a plastic tarp and run around wet Detroit, and serve! Hopefully this just fuels you even more to give it your all tonight! NM: Absolutely, I can’t wait to host Chris Liebing, massive German techno DJ. Very fitting for the city of Detroit, the capital of Techno. We were present at your b2b with Chris back in Ultra Miami 2023, so our expectations are high! Sadly, Layton Giordani couldn’t make it to play with you tonight. NM: Yes, unfortunately he is battling a lung infection, we are really sad to miss him tonight. Well, let’s dedicate this party to him and all the listeners! We have noticed you’ve been hanging out recently with long-time friend Carl Cox. You played at his San Francisco Burning Man Camp fundraiser, and did an insane b2b for EDC Las Vegas. My question is… who’s the better car racer? Hahaha, well he is into drag racing and I do GT racing. They have similarities but still very different kinds of racing. We spent five days in Napa. After the Burning Man Fundraiser we took an F12 Ferrari Berlinetta and we just drove and took our time. We raced, did some wine tasting, chilled a little bit. It was lovely. We then landed in Vegas and smashed it. We closed out Neon Garden with our b2b and it was so amazing. We then went straight to NYC the next day. Technically we spent 10 days together. I’m also going to Burning Man with him this year. That’s amazing! I have heard nothing but great things of Burning Man, we will have to make our way there soon. Circling back to In The Mood, after tuning in each week in the past few weeks I can’t help but notice how diverse each set is. How do you pick the mood each week? NM: You know, it is a big commitment to make the show every week. I get a lot of records sent to me each week and I listen to every single one of them. When a record hits me, and I feel it, it has to be on the show. It’s a great platform for me to have. There are many tracks I don’t get to play at festivals and clubs that I actually love. So I love to showcase all that amazing talent that deserves to be heard. We’re backstage while your opener Devon James is playing some sick tracks. We were actually chatting with him earlier and he helped set up this interview for us. Tell us, how it is working with him? NM: I’ve been working with him for longer than 10 years. We will be touring the US and South America again soon. He is a very talented boy. Very tech-driven and he has great taste in music. He was already here with me and I asked him to open the show for me. He said, “Of course, let’s do it!”. We also noticed you spent your Friday at Movement. With the crowd, watching different sets. How was your day? NM: Friday was incredible, I got to spend time meeting people and enjoying myself. Saturday was a sh*t show. Tonight will be amazing. This festival is very special. The vibe is very intimate, you don’t really get that in more mainstream, massive events. We felt the same way, and the underground stage has its own gallery dedicated to the pioneers of Techno. They paved the way for so many artists. We continue to see you in many other lineups for the remainder of the year. One that stood out to us was Groove Cruise in January. Have you played on cruises before? NM: I’ve done other cruises but this will be my first Groove Cruise. It’s just crazy, you have 5000 partying on a boat all week. We always hear crazy stories from the cruises, but that closeness between the artists and the audience reminds us of Movement in some way. The support that DJs show to each other here is very visible. NM: And you can only get that in shows like Movement, it’s so small, you can tour the festival in five minutes from stage to stage. It is fabulous. Yesterday I got to see Kevin Saunderson B2B Idris Elba, that was Mega. We appreciate diverse artists. Idris Elba for instance being a world-class actor but also an incredible DJ. That set was incredible. We wanted to mention your latest project Ankh Unveiled, which you debuted in NYC this past weekend. Can you elaborate on it? NM: So we’ve been working on it for a while. I first showcased it last summer in Arts District in New York. But this year we kind of narrowed down the story. It is very organic, very feminine. Not about robots, not about anything technological. It is very relatable, and it’s about female empowerment. I wanted to showcase the goddess in every woman. Women give life, that is very powerful. Every time I play it I want to develop the story more and more. Hopefully I will tour it in fall of next year. That’s just beautiful. Speaking of feminity. I wanted to bring up female DJs that are the backbone of the scene currently. Especially in this generation. Which female DJs should we listen to? NM: Now that’s a good question, Lauren Lane is producing great stuff. Collette also. They are more on the house and tech-house scene. On the techno side, yesterday I heard Adiel, very good, I liked her. She is excellent. We have many DJs that are killing it, we just need more to come forward! Absolutely! Thank you for the work you’re doing, inspiring more and more female artists. Following the interview, Nicole Moudaber completely destroyed the decks with an incredible set. Lastly, she ended the night with a 3-hour b2b with Chris Liebing, which easily became one of our favorite sets of the weekend. David Guetta & Morten Team Up With Prophecy For ‘Kill The Vibe’
Further elaborating on their by now notorious Future Rave sound, hit-making partners David Guetta and MORTEN join forces with burgeoning Spanish duo Prophecy for the brawny new single ‘Kill The Vibe.’ Built around punchy Techno kicks, greasy percussion and a tempting clubby mood, the guys unleash a raw groove to accompany cool, chilled-out vocals, clearly getting things ready for an exciting night out, begging you not to kill the vibe. The single perfectly captures the club-fueled Prophecy sound into the mesmerizing Future Rave production style. As the song breaks down into housey melodics, the vocals, characterized by chilled spoken words celebrating a hedonistic party lifestyle, draw the crowd deeper onto the floor, making the drop into those raw kickdrums the more satisfying. Listen here. It’s a fresh step into Future Rave’s continuous evolution. David Guetta and MORTEN have created a whole new monster with their self-coined festival sound, blending genres like Techno, Progressive and Big Room into a captivating style for today’s mainstages. Listen Anjunadeep 15 Mixed By Jody Wisternoff & James Grant
Anjunadeep 15, the much-anticipated new album in the main label compilation series, is now out. It was mixed by Bristolian DJ Jody Wisternoff and label co-founder and A&R James Grant. Anjunadeep has seen heavyweights artists on its roster like Lane 8, Dusky, Yotto, Ben Böhmer, and Eli & Fur. Since the first compilation, “Anjunadeep 01,” came out in 2009, the V.A. series has shaped the sounds of each year and helped new electronic acts get their start. Jody and James have put together two carefully crafted mixes of a wide range of melodic tracks for this year’s compilation. Luttrell, PROFF, 16BL, and Jon Gurd are friends of Anjunadeep and are on the compilation. So are upcoming stars like Parallel Voices, Karyendasoul, Sebastian Sellares, and Artemis Orion. They also use hits from Anjunabeats like Kasablanca, anamē, Darren Tate, and ANUQRAM, as well as slower Reflections tracks by Cephas Azariah, Talee, and Omfeel, showing off the full range of Anjuna sounds. Curating ‘Anjunadeep 15’ has been a deeply rewarding journey. We spent months sifting through so much inspiring music, working until the 11th hour (the mix was delivered just a few days before release!) to tweak and shape every last track, not least our own collaborative remixes and productions. Our artists have outdone themselves once again. The result is a two-disc collection that captures Anjunadeep’s current and future sound, with some favorites from Reflections and Anjunabeats featuring in the mix as well, highlighting the musical diversity within our artist community. We’re very proud of this one and hope you enjoy it. – James Grant & Jody Wisternoff Many of the artworks in the Anjunadeep compilation series are aerial photos of Iceland’s beautiful scenery. This gives the country a special connection to the series. With that in mind, the label is thrilled to mark the 15th release in the series by recording a special live performance of the album with Jody and James in Iceland’s Katla Ice Cave. Anjunadeep is one of the biggest independent labels in electronic music. It was started in 2005 by Above & Beyond, a duo nominated for a Grammy, and James Grant. Anjunadeep continues to set the standard in the business with over 800 releases, a worldwide fan community, and a reputation for throwing parties that people will never forget. Celebrating an EDM milestone with the 12th Anniversary of ´Spectrum´ by Zedd
12 years ago on the 4th of June, 2012, the breakout single ´Spectrum´ by Zedd featuring Matthew Koma, was released and established as a major force in electronic dance music (EDM). A song that became a worldwide anthem, blending powerful lyrics with an unforgettable melody, and today has been listened to almost 138 million times on Spotify alone. While the Russian-German DJ Anton Zaslavski, AKA Zedd, has been building a strong reputation within the EDM community with remixes and original tracks, ‘Spectrum’ was the track that catapulted him into mainstream success. With a little bit of aid from a tweet by Lady Gaga, ‘Spectrum’ got supercharged and went from nr.23 on Billboards Dance Club Chart, to nr.10, overnight. The songs structure, combining a melodic buildup and explosive chorus, with Mattew Koma´s lyrics that speak of love and longing, created an infectious energy and emotional depth that made the track both danceable and heartfelt. Its elements of lush synths, driving beats and euphoric drops, have since also become staples in Zedd’s production style. ‘Spectrum’ has been credited with helping shape the sound of modern EDM and bridging the gap between electronic music and pop. It paved the way for future collaborations between DJs and mainstream vocalist, and led to a series of high-profile remixes by artists such as Armin van Buuren, Arty and Congrock. For Zedd, ´Spectrum’ was just the beginning of his remarkable music journey. Later during 2012, his position in the music industry got truly solidified when he won a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording for the song ´Clarity´that was released on his debut album with the same name. 12 years later and ´Spectrum´ remains a milestone in the EDM genre, that can still be felt in the music of many contemporary artist who draw inspiration from its elements. A true testament to the Zedd´s musical talent and ability create a track that moves feet, hearts and souls.

Cover Story: Sota
The jump-up scene is notorious for its infectious energy, upbeat sounds, and assertory basslines. The distinctive vibe that modern jump up possesses has elevated the subgenre to its most exciting place in decades. Since 2019, Tom Southon has taken the drum & bass scene by storm, having been a key contributor to the revival of what was otherwise a declining part of the scene. His current take on jump up drum and bass fuses his rock influences as a child, his first musical endeavours as a drummer, and the vibrant approach to synthesis and melodies championed by his peers in the early 2010’s. Known by drum & bass fans as Sota, his meticulously planned out sets are a central element to the dedicated fanbase he has built, captivating their raw emotion and taking them on a journey from the old, the new and the untamed. Having won best newcomer in the Drum&BassArena Awards at the end of 2023, it is clear that Sota possesses the fanfare to go on and become a household name in what is already a fast blossoming career “They’re publicly voted so it really feels like everyone is watching and I’m doing the right things”. With such strong competition in Anaïs and [IVY], this award really validates how highly he’s valued in the world of drum & bass. Having made the Move to Bristol in late 2023, Sota finds himself in one of the best cities for drum & bass music, a fitting move given the ever-building momentum surrounding him at the moment. Whilst his next steps are not yet clear, it is without doubt that he is well suited in the musical melting pot of influence that Bristol has become over the last few decades. After the success in the Drum&BassArena Awards we are now sitting up and taking notice, “Me and the team will keep going, we don’t take these bits of recognition for granted”. For Sota fans everywhere, the idea that this is just the beginning of a promising, long, musical career must be a thought that will only excite them even more. With a sell-out headline UK tour completed, Sota’s flag is very much in the sand within the drum & bass world, “to make your graduation up to being a headline act and someone who’s booked to sell tickets is a very gratifying feeling .” His ‘State of the Art Tour ’ included a variety of buzzing DJs that were “very much handpicked”, including the likes of Basstripper, T-Lex, Circadian, Primate, Gino, Belle, and Exile. Really showcasing how on the money the lineups have been in terms of suiting his sound, “Putting on a headline tour isn’t just about your set, it’s about the whole night. I picked artists I actually love listening to. I want ravers to enjoy their time in the club from their arrival all the way till the end.” When it comes to curating more events, it’s refreshing to know that we are in store for a lot more. “Being able to run shows is the most satisfying feeling there is in this game”, Sota curated, and subsequently made, the night’s full blast from start to finish. “The whole experience has been incredible, the ravers have really made this tour a success!” S.O.T.A is a military acronym for state of the art, which Tom found out about early on after originally naming himself. His initial aim was to have a DJ name that had “one word, two syllables”. Cleverly, “I thought I’d hold this information in until there was something worthy of being branded it, and of course, there was nothing better than the first tour”. This ‘State of the Art’ characterised tour is a perfect image for the aura his shows up and down the country depicted, going for a “90’s-00’s technology and music magazine vibe.” It’s important to note that the love for his team is at the forefront of his thanks – “I’ve got to give as much credit as I can to my agent Louis! We came up together and have enjoyed every new step of success along the way as a duo, big love to Jamie too for helping make so much progress with this project in the relatively short time we’ve had working together. And thank you to the creative team that worked on this project – James and Kay alongside George and Jordan.” “We were sold on XOYO. It’s been a boyhood dream of mine to play there, a real iconic venue for drum & bass, I used to watch Andy C there when I was younger,” and considering his final sold-out show was at the East London venue, we can conclude this first headline UK tour a triumphant one. “It was an independent tour, where we worked with our favourite promoters in each city, rather than an overarching promoter for the whole tour. Going to cities comprising Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Brighton, and London”, really capped off an unforgettable few months in the life of Sota. “There’s been lots of ups and some downs but I’ve learnt not to overthink, the things we’ve learnt now we’ll apply to the next tour and make it even bigger and better than this one.” We can definitely expect more shows from this incredibly talented selector as the euphoria he felt throughout the tour is an entity that won’t be leaving him any time soon, “turning up to the venue and seeing everyone there to see your show, it’s amazing to have experienced that for the first time!” “It’s a full circle moment to be an artist that younger DJ’s can look up to. An increase in attention within the scene has been a lot to get used to”, inevitably the limelight will only strengthen with his hard-hitting productions, and killer sets, showing no signs of slowing down. In this current transition period he now finds himself, “I’m progressing from an act who has been supporting on lineups to becoming one of the main acts on the bill”. This crucial period for any artist is a time when they are able to assert their sound onto audiences and create a following that’ll determine their standing in the scene. “I’ve realised I’ve got a really friendly and nice fanbase. And to accept a lot of stuff is out of your control.” With tracks including ‘Mesmer’, ‘Pray for me’, and ‘Machete’ also remixed by A.M.C – we are undeniably witnessing the rise of a talent who is building a body of work that will appease critics and ravers alike; with mesmer showcasing the more technical side of his production armory, and ‘Machete’ offering the gritty, rave built anthemic feel that listeners in 2024 crave so dearly. A.M.C, Andy C, Turno, and Pendulum have been big inspirations for Sota within the genre. His switch in aspirations between genres came as a result of a certain Australian group who he got to go back-to-back with on Radio 1, “Pendulum were my bridge from metal over to D&B, I mention them in every interview I do.” Metal was his first love musically, then at 16 when he discovered drum & bass things started to change. Once 18 and attending his first rave in Brighton it was “game over” so to speak. “I’m still a proud metal fan today, despite taking a few years out. I’d like to use metal songwriting techniques in my music production – especially because they incorporate synths and high-scale production value”, this would not only add another string to his bow, but the crossover in formulaic styles would certainly make a bold statement as a first-class producer, “I really enjoy picking out certain aspects of different genres and applying it to d&b production.” – On the topic of his idols, top of the list for the Horsham-born producer was to have one of his records remixed by one of those names ” When the ‘Machete’ conversation arose “UKF approached me asking who I wanted to remix ‘Machete’ and I immediately said A.M.C”. It wasn’t long before the multi award-winning act had put his own spin on the record and was donning it in his sets globally ” another milestone well and truly ticked off the list! “Other releases that have gone a long way in enabling Sota to reach the heights he has are ‘Pray for me’ which he acknowledges as “one of my best-performing singles” and ‘Realise’, “one of my breakthrough releases, which bagged my first few million streams, it was self-released, so it was riding on pure hype.” Evidently, Sota’s fast rise in popularity has been reinforced by his music’s acclaim on the dance floor, and having dropped 5 singles/remixes in 2022, amongst his infamous ‘Can You Feel My Heart’ Bootleg it is clear to see that his output has been a driving force behind his early success. A career highlight that stood out was “Southbound festival where I played my first big crowd – before covid”, then going onto play some of the biggest drum & bass shows in around for DNB Allstars, Worried About Henry, Crucast, and Breakin Science at the superclubs Printworks and Warehouse Project. “The two Printworks shows were big stepping stones for me where I played alongside Amplify and Kara”. Adding that “the Primate back-to-back in Belgium was another pinnacle moment, it was just after the release of ‘Realise’ – the crowd screamed it back, it was insane!” Casting our minds back to the Crucast show in Manchester, “the Warehouse Project recorded set did some real mad stuff for my career”, the age of recorded sets has been a real asset to the world of dance music, “people love to listen to raves.” Where will the electronic dance scene be in another decade? “As technology gets better we’ll have access to more ways to convey these sets” – for rising DJs this is an opportunity to not only showcase their talent but rewatch and learn from the sets finding new ways to improve and tighten their mixing. Looking ahead to this summer’s festival season, without giving too much away we can expect to see Sota at “all the good ones this summer. I can’t say anything else.” These will undoubtedly add yet another milestone to his career, ultimately taking him another step closer to the pinnacle of the jump-up scene. Fondly looking back at Boomtown last year, he went back-to-back with heavyweight Simula on the Dubtendo stage, “we absolutely locked off the whole area at Boomtown and it’s definitely given me a taste for a full festival season.” Touching on the size of these bigger shows, it’s great to see drum & bass in such an amazing place. “The scale of raves nowadays is crazy. The idea of a Printworks, Warehouse Project, and Drumsheds are quite new. The fact we’re seeing 100% D&B lineups selling out these venues 2 or 3 times a year is insane.” We’re incredibly witnessing a popularity that’s hitting heights that were unimaginable a decade ago. “In my memory, this is the most popular d&b has ever been. We’ve had moments over the years where certain tunes have broken into the mainstream, but not to the extent it is now selling out 10,000 plus capacity shows.” It seems this period we find ourselves in now is undeniably pushing the genre into the limelight more and more every day. With greater chart success than ever, are we looking at a new era for the genre as a whole? “I love it all. I love something about everything in D&B.” A key factor to longevity is, not only the passion but the willingness to add new ideas to productions, “I want to continually bring in new elements to make my sound more and more like me.” The drum & bass scene has been evolving for the last two decades and it could very much be that in time the sound will develop even more. “For me it’s about keeping the core fan base happy, as long as they’re happy I’m happy”. With new musical influences touching the community continuously, and this new age of social media, it’s clear to see that Sota is prepared to roll with the punches and pull from his plethora of inspirations to stay on top of his game, somewhat refreshing for an artist in his early twenties. In such a period where the scene can seem saturated with artists, events, and ideas it can seem a daunting task to consistently create a body of art that keeps up with trends, “What I want to keep up in my career is giving the people something new – constantly switching it up.” Making sure the quality of every production is to a high standard is a hard feat, especially when you’re a sought-after DJ who is busy with bookings. With nothing announced release wise at the moment, it’s an exciting time to see what the future holds now the UK tour has ended. “Although I can say I’ve made a tune with Modestep that will be coming out this year”, who caused mayhem when he came out as a special guest during the final XOYO show in March. Looking at the wider picture, “My biggest goal is to be able to put on the craziest shows possible. I want to get to a point where I have the platform and the finances to be able to put on a show that’s attacking every single sense as much as possible.” It’s evident that Sota yearns for the big production performances, creating an experience ravers won’t forget when leaving his shows. “I come from a musical theatre background, I still love going to the theatre. They utilise the technology available to them so well. I want moving parts; I want as many elements of what I love involved as possible. I would love a live aspect to my shows too.” The love for pleasing his audience is admirable, he’s notorious for always making his sets different from each other. An appreciation for his fans, and the wider drum & bass community, is unquestionably a factor in his amazing rise to drum & bass stardom, “bringing in all these inspirations over my musical career and showcasing that to everyone is exactly what I want to carry on doing.”

One N Only Entertainment’s Epic EDC Las Vegas Hotel Takeover: A Raver’s Paradise
Out of all the options for accommodations during EDC Las Vegas, from camping to staying on the Strip, One N Only Entertainment (ONO) offered a unique, all-inclusive experience. Their hotel takeover at the boutique Hotel Serene provided a vibrant, community-driven atmosphere, complete with shuttle services, pool parties, and kickoff events, all curated with the raver’s needs in mind. From the moment I arrived until I dragged myself to the airport for a ten-hour flight to Amsterdam on Tuesday afternoon, ONO’s attentive staff and thoughtful amenities ensured a one-of-a-kind EDC adventure. Getting There & Shuttles Hotel Serene, the home base for ONO’s EDC Las Vegas hotel takeover, was conveniently situated about 2.4 kilometers (1.5 miles) from the Strip/Harry Reid International airport. The resort provided complimentary shuttles to and from the festival each day, making transportation not only easy but safe. The complimentary shuttles were a standout feature of ONO’s hotel takeover. While the lack of ice and limited drink options (vodka and sparkling water) were minor drawbacks, the staff’s responsiveness, and willingness to improve were commendable. By Sunday, they had procured ice, and suggestions for a cooler on future shuttles were well-received. The shuttle rides to EDC were energetic and fostered new friendships, while the return trips allowed for much-needed rest after a night of raving. The ONO staff ensured a seamless experience, guiding attendees onto the shuttles and providing water for the journey. The energy on the way to EDC was electric, with ravers singing together (that Friday shuttle we sang a lot of Bon Jovi!) and creating a tunnel of bubbles as you walked through to hop on the shuttle were two moments I’ll never forget. At the end of each day of EDC seeing one of the ONO representatives with their totem was a beacon of hope after a very long night and day. To know I would safely be able to get home was so important to me after doing this for 16 years, I’ve had my fair share of scary rides home or even worse getting stranded somewhere. Knowing that each day I would have reliable transportation made me feel at ease. The Resort Hotel Serene exuded a boutique resort vibe, providing a tranquil oasis amidst the EDC madness. Each morning, ONO offered grab-and-go breakfast, perfect for refueling after a night of raving. The staff’s attentiveness was exemplary, with one kitchen staff member even remembering to prepare a lactose-free baked potato for me. It’s those small things that make ONO stand out, those small details make all the difference. The resort’s courtyard and pool area served as the central hub for the hotel takeover’s activities. Walking around the resort during EDC weekend was synonymous with walking down a college dorm hallway, seeing familiar faces and making new friends along the way. Kick-Off Party The festivities kicked off on Thursday with ONO’s takeover of two clubs, We All Scream and Disco Pussy. Despite a minor shuttle mishap (a shuttle got rear ended), ONO’s prompt problem-solving and customer service shone through, allowing attendees to take ride-shares at the company’s expense. We All Scream offered a rooftop setting with string lights overlooking the illuminated Fremont Street, while Disco Pussy catered to bass music enthusiasts in a cavernous setting. The diverse musical offerings, from house to drum and bass, ensured something for everyone. A few times I was planning on leaving to get some sleep and then got pulled back in! My favorite moment from the night was when J Handel played an OG dubstep set, my 2010 heart leapt joy! Following the end of the night I reached out to one of the ONO representatives to accompany me home as I was alone and felt unsafe taking a ride share app in the middle of the night in Vegas (safety first!) and they made sure I got back to the hotel safe. Pool Parties Each day at noon, the courtyard at Hotel Serene transformed into a vibrant pool party scene. DJs, a beauty bar (offering services like hair braiding and face gems), a harm reduction stand, merchandise and cannabis vendors, snow cones, and a bar created a lively, all-encompassing experience. Attendees could enjoy the party from their balconies or immerse themselves in the action poolside. Each day I would first watch the pool party from my balcony with a cup of coffee and then head downstairs to enjoy the beauty bar (my braids looked amazing) and to stock up on essentials for the day such as sunscreen (which I completely forgot to pack!). At the pool party, ravers could pick up their goodie bag which came with a comfy kimono (I even wore mine to interview DJs at EDC!), sunglasses, earplugs, stickers, and ChapStick. ONO’s commitment to safety throughout the weekend not only through their transportation services but also with their harm reduction stand was impeccable. At the harm reduction stand, attendees could receive free safety information, test strips, Narcan, condoms, etc. Safety at every level was taken extremely seriously, which as a rave mom I very much appreciated. Overall Impressions ONO’s EDC Las Vegas hotel takeover was a resounding success, providing a safe, comfortable, and unforgettable experience. The staff’s exceptional customer service, from accompanying me on Thursday night after the kickoff party back to assisting me when my room key wasn’t working, were just two examples of next level service. The seamless integration of shuttles, pool parties, kickoff events, and amenities created a raver’s paradise. Despite minor hiccups (like traffic delays), ONO’s problem-solving abilities and commitment to customer satisfaction shone through. I am now so spoiled by ONO that I except this level of organization and fun at every festival I attend. The inclusive, high-energy vibe made the ONO hotel takeover a must-experience for EDC attendees, whether solo or with a rave fam. See you in 2025! Cashing In On the Best "Man In Finance" Remixes: Listen
If the internet is good at anything, it's turning a joke into a cultural phenomenon. No one knows that more than Megan Boni, whose "Man In Finance" video from TikTok is the latest viral sensation to take the music world by storm, leading to a slew of remixes and even a major label deal for the content creator. It all started innocuously enough, with Boni's rhythmic vocal fry listing particularly aspirational attributes for a boyfriend: "I'm looking for a man in finance, trust fund, 6'5", blue eyes." Boni's video took off, amassing over 28 million views and catching the attention of top music producers, who have since turned it into a remix frenzy. Thanks to TikTok, her career as a creator and comedian has skyrocketed, allowing her to leave her corporate job entirely. "I won't make more music unless it’s a parody," Boni told Billboard. "But I'm definitely behind this song." Check out some of the best remixes of the trend below. View the original article to see embedded media. View the original article to see embedded media. Spotify Hits Replay on Price Hikes, Raises Subscription Rates for the Second Time in a Year
Just when you thought your monthly subscription was safe, Spotify has decided to raise prices—again. Starting next month, US subscribers will face higher fees for Premium, Duo and Family plans, marking the second increase within a year. Beginning in July, Spotify Premium will cost $11.99 per month, up from the previous $10.99. Duo plans will rise by $2 to $16.99 per month and Family plans will see a $3 increase, bringing the total to $19.99 per month. Spotify justified these increases by stating, "So that we can continue to invest in and innovate on our product features and bring users the best experience, we occasionally update our prices." The streaming giant is far from alone in this inflationary trend. Major competitors like Netflix, Hulu and Disney Plus have also raised their prices recently, leading many to question the future affordability of streaming services. Likewise, for many artists, Spotify's payment model remains a contentious issue. The platform pays royalties based on an artist's share of overall streams, amounting to roughly $0.003 to $0.005 per play, not enough for the overwhelming majority of artists to sustain a living wage. Ironically, the company's announcement comes at a controversial time. Just days ago, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek faced backlash for a post on X claiming that the cost of creating content was "close to zero," a statement widely lambasted by musicians who argued that producing quality music is far from free. Ek eventually backpedaled but is still facing a great deal of criticism.

Cercle to Bring Series of 360° Traveling Concerts to Life With Immersive "Odyssey" Concept
Cercle, the renowned Parisian production company and event organizer, is launching an ambitious new concert concept, Cercle Odyssey. Picture stepping into a massive concert arena where you're surrounded by giant screens on all sides. These screens, some as tall as 40 feet and as long as 180 feet, wrap around the audience and show high-definition videos that sync perfectly with the music. It's enough to make you feel like you're inside the performance—not just watching it. To deepen engagement and foster a genuine sense of connection among attendees, Cercle Odyssey will also enforce a strict no-phone policy. It's a decision that's reflective of a deepening trend within the electronic dance music community, wherein numerous high-profile artists and institutions are encouraging fans to be more present. The 360° spectacle is set to launch in 2025, per Billboard, and will bring more fans closer to the unique experience Cercle offers the dance music faithful around the world. "My current obsession is to create the shortest connection between the music played by the artist, the video narrative that we will present live on the screens, and the audience’s emotions," said Cercle's Founder, Derek Barbolla. "I want to connect these three things together at the deepest level and I believe this is still underdeveloped in the entertainment industry. If, by the end of a Cercle Odyssey show, I see people on the dance floor literally moved to tears, then I will consider it a success." You can find out more about Cercle Odyssey here and check out the trailer below.

Spotify Hikes Prices for the Second Time This Year
If you’re an avid Spotify listener, you might have to shell out a bit more to keep those beats going. For the second time in a year, Spotify is raising the prices of its premium subscription plans in the United States. Starting in July 2024, the price for Spotify’s Individual plan will increase from $10.99 to $11.99 per month, marking a $1 hike. This might seem like a small jump, but it’s part of a 20% increase since 2020. For those sharing an account, the Duo plan will see a $2 rise, going from $14.99 to $16.99 per month. Families that groove together will feel the biggest pinch, with the Family plan jumping from $16.99 to $19.99 per month—a $3 increase. Students, however, can breathe a sigh of relief. The Student plan remains unchanged at $5.99 per month. Spotify has attributed these price increases to the need for continued investment and innovation in their product features. According to the company, these changes are essential to providing users with the best possible experience and staying competitive in an evolving market. This means more refined features, better algorithms for discovering new tracks, and possibly more exclusive content in the future. Given the extensive library and curated playlists that Spotify offers, particularly for EDM enthusiasts, this increase could impact how you budget for your music subscription. Current subscribers won’t see the new rates until after a one-month grace period, during which Spotify will notify users of the upcoming changes. The price increase might be a slight deterrent, but the platform’s commitment to innovation could mean enhanced user experiences and more ways to enjoy your favorite genre. [Event Review] Movement: Vibrant Culture and Unwavering Resilience
There are only a few festivals that manage to take over their city and completely transform it into a magical wonderland. Movement Music Festival is the primordial example. The event has taken over Hart Plaza almost every year since 2006 to celebrate the heritage of Techno culture in the city of Detroit. The weekend serves as a celebration of Techno and its founders. Not only is it a party, but it is a remembrance of Resilience and Fortitude. Techno as a Statement The event doesn’t just take place in the venue. The entire downtown area becomes one with the music. Whether it’s the bars, vinyl shops, street artists, renegade parties, or cars blasting their speakers, Detroit turns into a movement. The energy was alive no matter where you were. If we got to get technical, the festival takes advantage of Hart Plaza. An architectural delight, the each stage makes use of the space very well. The fountain in the middle was fully functioning, compared to last year. And it illuminated our dance moves into the night. Now let’s talk about the sound system. Because the sound quality was so crispy we felt we were hearing the tracks on 4k Ultra HD. Detroit does not play when it comes to sound engineering. Beyond the Festival Movement focuses on Techno, House, and Drum and Bass. The lineups were pretty sick each day. From legends to newcomers, each day showcased very special artists. Standout sets include Richie Hawtin DEX EFX X0X, which is his newest audiovisual project, Indira Paganotto, LP Giobbi‘s funky and deep piano house. Moreover, each day had massive afterparties, including artists like I Hate Models, Ellen Allien, and Nicole Moudaber’s In The Mood 10 year celebration with an incredible b2b with Chris Liebing (check out our exclusive interview with Queen Moudaber moments before she got behind the decks). Honorable mentions go to Goldie, Partiboi69, and Dom Dolla. Favorite set goes to Hector Oaks. His mastery of the vinyls with penetrating basslines and acid textures, he blew us away. More than a Movement The people that continuosly claim that PLUR is dead, have never been to Detroit, and it shows. One would think an all-ages crowd would be filled with immature and annoying teenagers. But the crowd was by far one the most mature and adept energies.Security, police, staff, they were all respectful and amazing. They were enjoying the music as much as we were! Parents were responsible with their kids. People weren’t pushing or hurting each other. Above all, people were there for the music. Techno brought us all together into the underground. Even the rain couldn’t stop attendees from returning to the festival grounds once Movement announced on social media the festival was reopening after thunderstorms delayed it for several hours. They made it even more special when the city of Detroit allowed the festival to go 30 minutes past the sound ordinance. Take that Coachella. If the lineup didn’t convince you, nor the incredible food options, or how affordable Detroit is, maybe you aren’t underground enough for Movement. While there are other smaller festivals with similar underground lineups such as Arc, CRSSD, Seismic, and Hocus Pocus, Movement focuses on respecting and shining the spotlight on Techno’s history and growth. The underground is after all, an act of resistance and resilience. We give the festival our outmost gratitude for hosting us this past weekend. We will return, come rain or come shine. With more and more delicious Techno to experience. The post [Event Review] Movement: Vibrant Culture and Unwavering Resilience appeared first on EDMTunes.
