  1. For the first time in nine years, we're getting a new Jamie xx album. Back in 2015, the renowned DJ and producer released his debut solo album, In Colour. Since then he's released a string of singles and remixes as well as I See You with his band, The xx. Now, he's back on his own for the album's monochromatic counterpart, In Waves. Jamie xx recently took to social media to reveal the cover of In Waves, which fans may recognize follows the same stylistic pattern as its predecessor and his collaborative remix album, We're New Here, with Gil-Scott Heron. He also shared a heartfelt message about how his growth in the years since. "It’s been a while…and a lot has happened in that time," he wrote. "Ups and downs, growing up, figuring stuff out and then forgetting it all many times over. Life changing events and world changing events. These waves that we have all experienced together and alone. I wanted to make something fun, joyful and introspective all at once. The best moments on a dance floor are usually that for me." View the original article to see embedded media. Jamie xx has also dropped a new single from the album, "Treat Each Other Right," alongside a dynamic music video that shows a bizarre party. With elderly ravers, nurses giving birth to plastic dolls and a Gordon Ramsey lookalike, his latest will certainly enthrall and perplex while scratching the itch of those looking for more of his club-ready sounds. Check out the official music video for "Treat Each Other Right," directed by Rosie Marks, below. Fans can pre-save In Waves here ahead of its release on September 20th, 2024. 2. Here’s a genre-bender EP that will have you deciding between dancing with the lights on or off. Happy Friday! Friday, with “F” as in “New Tunes”. No, not quite. But “F” as in “Freqish“, and that one works flawlessly. We’re excited to share a frankly delicious EP, coming to you from one of Dance Music’s veteran acts. Right from the bat, you know something interesting awaits — and you’d be absolutely correct. Freqish For Brandon Lee, Dance music is a language that transcends words and worlds, using vibrations to reach the deepest fibres of our being. With over two decades of experience as a DJ, producer, engineer, and label owner, he launched the Freqish project in 2020. His debut track, ‘Let’s Get High‘, smashed onto the scene, topping the Beatport Deep House charts and landing in the Top 100 overall. His largest pride is how much dedication and soul he puts into each of his projects. And that statement shines through when you listen to his catalogue. And you’d be in luck if that’s your aim today, for Freqish has just unveiled a new EP to the world: the union of two belters, ‘Come Together Now‘ and ‘The Abyss‘. Come Together Now / The Abyss A daring release which brings back some old while splashing some new into the equation, Come Together Now / The Abyss is Freqish’s latest, available now via Doc Brown’s imprint, Unlearn:Records. These two pieces could very well earn the title of genre-bender, for all we know. The first out of the pair, ‘Come Together Now‘, stands out due to its groove nature, yet with a tense expression, very much like the 2015-and-older Progressive House you’d hear acts like Axwell and AN21 play back then. With pure House notes such as the vocal sample pairing with the slightly crunchy Acid bassline and the lack of 2-and-4 percussion from the get-go, this one will serve as the peak energy moment in sets, we bet. Its counterpart, ‘The Abyss‘, acts as a more theoretically-accurate take on Tech House. Minimalistic, sober, oomphy and energetic, the B-side of this EP makes excellent use of each and every element featured throughout the duration, combining classic machine percussion with full basslines and the occasional melodic signal, made to keep the flame alive and well. Listen to Frequish’s gigantic two-tracker, Come Together Now / The Abyss, by hitting the ‘Play’ button on your Spotify player attached below. Otherwise, don’t hesitate to visit this link to support the release on your platform of choice. And stay tuned to our page for the latest news and views from our beloved Dance music world. 3. Just weeks after the release of their brand-new single ‘Hearts Up’, Luv Foundation UK and Ashley Paul are elevating their hit track with a dynamic music video and two incredible remixes. ‘Hearts Up’ has already made a significant impact, reaching #1 on Ireland’s iTunes Dance Chart and receiving radio support from DJ S.K.T on Kiss FM and Christian Homan on RTE. Now, the song’s success is set to soar even higher with a visually captivating music video and remixes by Miami legend Robbie Rivera and BBC Introducing‘s “One to Watch” Lizzie Curious. The new music video further amplifies the vibrant energy of this deep house tune, adding a visual dimension that enhances the overall experience of the single. The playful animations in the video perfectly complement the infectious and feel-good vibes of ‘Hearts Up’, making it an ideal match for both TV and video streams. Leading the remix charge is Miami house music icon Robbie Rivera, who transforms ‘Hearts Up’ into a dance floor-ready club anthem. Robbie Rivera‘s expertise and creative touch offer a fresh, energetic twist while maintaining the essence of the original track. This one has received a ton of support, most notably by StoneBridge on Sirius XM BPM. Adding to the excitement, Luv Foundation UK and Ashley Paul have also tapped the renowned house star Lizzie Curious for another exceptional remix. Lizzie Curious infuses her version with rave-ready energy, creating a hands-in-the-air vibe that adds a thrilling new layer to the hit single. With these new additions, ‘Hearts Up’ is poised to continue its ascent as a dance music anthem, captivating audiences with its multifaceted appeal.
  4. Following on from his last single ‘Stay’, which has recently passed 1 million streams on Spotify, rising star Alber-K is back on our new music feeds with ‘Imperfect The Same’. This single sees the Belgian artist continue his hot streak of releases as he teams up with vocalist Nino Lucarell to add another hit to his ever growing catalog. At just 28 years old, Alber-K has quickly become one of the standout acts in the Belgian electronic dance music scene. Standing out with his creativity and passion for all things dance music, Alber-K has been described as a “musical prodigy” by industry professionals. Although he may be young, he is no stranger to the scene, having starting playing at the age of 15. That experience and knowledge on the ever-evolving scene has made him understand his own sound even more, evident when you take a listen to his music. His new single ‘Imperfect the Same’, sees him link up with Nino Lucarell for the first time and it’s safe to say they are the perfect pairing. Nino Lucarelli, who has worked alongside acts such as KAAZE, Burak Yeter, Dubvision, Raiden, and more, lays down amazing vocals and lyrics that resonate perfectly with the instrumental that Alber-K created. “I like lyrics that call for happiness, that generate a positive feeling. My dearest wish behind this track is that the people who listen to it have a great summer…” said Alber-K The track holds a blend of authentic and electronic elements, a blend that Alber-K has perfected. Guitar hooks are paired with a violin melody while rhythmic and addictive basslines carry the groove, all combining perfectly to create a summer anthem that we can’t get enough of. 5. Now that her satirical a cappella has securely embedded itself in pop culture, Megan Boni, familiarly known as social media personality Girl On Couch, has released an updated single version of “Man In Finance,” this time produced by David Guetta. Originally sampled by London-hailing electronic duo Billen Ted, “Man In Finance (G6 Trust Fund)” first hit streaming platforms on May 17th, a short turnaround after Boni originally posted the massively viral TikTok on April 30. Now, over one month since being a six-foot-five, finance-working trust fund baby (with blue eyes) became indispensable dating criteria, Boni has finalized a collaboration with one of the most streamed DJs of all time. In honor of Boni and David Guetta’s moment-seizing new record, Dancing Astronaut sat down with Girl On Couch herself to discuss the release, her recent appearance next to Guetta in Las Vegas, and what might be in store for the 26-year-old social media star. Read the exclusive Q&A and stream the latest edition of “Man In Finance” before. What kind of music did you grow up on? Megan: “I grew up on Britney Spears, Panic! At The Disco, Green Day, Kesha…” Did you have a sense of the dance music landscape before all of this, or was it completely foreign? Megan: “I mean, I had a sense. I went to raves all the time in high school. But the industry as a whole is definitely very foreign to me.” What would Megan a year ago say to you now that you’ve collaborated with David Guetta? Megan: “I would laugh, honestly. I’m still laughing. He’s literally a legend, like the top DJ in the world it seems. I was super nervous to meet him, and I was told he didn’t speak very good English. The first thing I said when we met was, ‘Bonjour!’ But then he started speaking in fluent French and I was like, ‘Wait, that’s all I know!’ I feel like he got my humor right away and we just sort of clicked.” You recently appeared at Encore Las Vegas to play out “Man In Finance,” live, next to David Guetta. Can you speak on that experience? Megan: “I’ve already been asked to go to Germany, London, and Ibiza next week. I’m just like, ‘I need to go to my family beach house and sit on the couch for a little.’ I was asked to fly to Vegas like two days before. Luckily, I had no plans that weekend so I could make it work, but I’m definitely going to need to figure out a balance. I also hate traveling… So I’m like, ‘Can I fly first class at least?'” In an ideal world, what do you hope to gain from this moment in time? Megan: “Well, I’ve started taking acting classes… I obviously want to run with the song all summer. I want to see what we can do with it, but the goal would to be on like SNL writing parody songs—I think I would be really good at that.” The post Megan Boni (Girl On Couch) and David Guetta unite for ‘Man In Finance’ [Q&A] appeared first on Dancing Astronaut.

  8. Legendary Daft Punk co-founder Thomas Bangalter has released the soundtrack of CHIROPTERA, a performance developed in collaboration with the Paris Opera House back in November 2023. Bangalter at the time joined the artist JR and choreographer Damien Jalet, with whom he developed the "unprecedented" show and commissioned 154 dancers to bring it to life at the dazzling Parisian venue la Galerie du 19M. In the wake of Daft Punk's shocking 2021 split, Bangalter has actively worked to reinvent himself as a composer. The influential producer recently released his original soundtrack for Mr. Oizo's French comedy film Daaaaaalí!, which followed a classical album called Mythologies. He's now released "CHIROPTERA MATIERE PREMIERE," a six-hour mix of the haunting, ambient music from its eponymous production. The soundtrack is out now via Bangalter's label, Alberts & Gothmaan, an anagram of his name. In celebration of the release, Bangalter also revealed ALETHEIA 19, an impending "sound installation" comprising "19 monophonic microgrooves cut on vinyl and presented in a simultaneous unsynchronised playback," according to a press release. Part of JR's DANS LA LUMIERE exhibition, the project will display in Paris' Espace Saint-Claude from June 7-15, 2024. Check out Bangalter's full soundtrack below. 9. The hunted becomes the huntress in Swedish House Mafia's new single, "Lioness." Prowling into a sonic savanna of swelling house music, "Lioness" arrives hotly anticipated. Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello had confirmed a mid-April release, but they decided to delay it after playing the song live because they "weren't satisfied with the production and needed to do last minute changes," the band said at the time. After slithering in with an eerie flute pattern, Swedish House Mafia's production stalks forward with hypnotic intensity as Niki & The Dove's haunting vocals pounce on the beat, defiantly chanting, "You can't keep me down, I am done, I am furious." Together with its fierce, propulsive drop, the song conjures imagery of a badass feline adorned in ceremonial black and gold warpaint, eyes blazing. "Lioness" is out now via Republic Records. Check out the new single below. In other Swedish House Mafia news, the influential trio is heading to Ibiza this summer for a historic DJ residency at the fabled Ushuaïa, one of the world's top clubbing destinations. After performing there just once in 2023, they'll now return every Sunday from July 21st to August 25th for their first residency on the White Isle in over a decade. In addition to the six-week residency, Axwell, Ingrosso and Angello are set to perform as Swedish House Mafia at Ultra Korea, Panama Open Air Festival and Tomorrowland's momentous 20th anniversary festival, among other high-profile appearances. 16. The new EP from Australian artist and DJ Kaz James is called “Never The Same” and is out now on Rose Avenue Records. This is Kaz James’s first release on RÜFÜS DU SOL’s label, and his Never The Same EP is a fantastic twofer. The two tracks are linked by a mood of escape, and the EP is full of mysterious percussion and smooth tunes. Everything work well with the way the two tracks are put together. Nicholas Routledge of the electro-pop band Van She sings on the title track “Never The Same.” The record is led by lush piano chords and lustful singing. “Skin,” on the other hand, is mesmerizing with its long instrumental builds. When put together, Never The Same is an amazing storm of deep techno and music that will go beyond dance floors everywhere. I’ve been playing this EP out and it hits hard. I spent a lot of time getting these records perfect. It’s been two years in the making so I’m really happy how it all turned out. I couldn’t think of a better home for them than Rose Avenue. I really love the lyrics on ‘Never The Same’, which I wrote with my boy Nicky, the lead singer from Van She. I feel they are really different and you don’t really get those kinds of indie vocals on a lot of electronic records any more. I’m also really in love with the other track on the EP, ‘Skin’. It’s such a moment on the dance floor. l’m excited to get this release out just in time for summer. – Kaz James Kaz James is a well-known producer, DJ, and label boss from Melbourne. James is a master of the turntables and has played all over the world. He currently has a residency at the famous Alemagou in Mykonos, Greece. James is a musician who has made a lot of hits, like the summer anthem “Footprints” and “Stronger,” which was remixed by John Summit and DJ Tennis. In 2024, James will make his appearance on new labels like Rose Avenue and Kompakt. He will also start his own label, Krushes, with Warner Music Group. You can now stream Kaz James’s brand-new EP, Never The Same, on any device. The post Kaz James Releases ‘Never The Same’ EP via Rose Avenue appeared first on The Groove Cartel.
  17. In December 2023, LSDREAM and CloZee announced the launch of LSZEE, a collaborative project foreshadowing a barrage of the majestic, spacey sounds they've long mastered. And as fans anxiously await the release of their debut album, the duo has now given them a cosmic taste by virtue of a pair of new singles, "FRENCH DREAM" and "CHRYSALIS." Within its first minute, the former track beams listeners into outer space with ease and finesse, but not before asking, "Can this be a French dream?" After that initial blastoff, LSZEE drop a bouncy beat complemented by funky trumpet patterns, wobbly bass and fun ad-libs sprinkled throughout. Meanwhile, they "CHRYSALIS" with the same helixes of DNA but infuse a different sound, reminiscent of a life well-traveled and well-contemplated. Slower-burning and meditative, the song is a carefully-crafted concoction of organic production and hypnotic vocals, all flowing freely through a cohesive arrangement. In the span of just two songs, LSDREAM and CloZee beautifully showcase the range of their debut album, wherein fans are bound to experience the bass-fueled whimsy of their signature sounds. The album is due out on September 27th, 2024. "Back in 2022 we did a studio trip in Joshua Tree to work on a few collabs," LSZEE said in a joint statement. We kept writing more and more songs, exploring new ideas that inspired us, and having the best time, being in awe of each others creativity." 19. Matisse & Sadko are back with "Verve," a triumphant resurrection of the progressive house sound that once ruled the EDM festival circuit. The tenured dance music duo has masterfully recaptured the serotonin rush of those euphoric, hands-in-the-air moments, distilling them into a soaring instrumental track. It's a sound they've mastered for well over a decade, leading to countless festival anthems released alongside Martin Garrix, Tiësto, John Martin and many more. "Verve" builds with a swelling potency, layering intricate keys with pulsating bass. Matisse & Sadko eventually uncork a cathartic drop, a crescendoing waterfall of synths that washes over you with an almost cleansing intensity. All said and done, the sublime track is a masterclass in progressive house that reminds us why we fell in love with the genre in the first place. When asked whether or not that nostalgic sound is making a comeback on the festival circuit, Matisse & Sadko said they anticipate a resurgence. "Of course we cannot predict the future, but we see that this genre carries an emotion that is difficult to express in any other style of music," the duo told EDM.com. "This is a rare combination of joy and sadness at the same time, energy and bright mood. We believe that this genre has great prospects and is again ready to take its place of honor at the biggest festivals." Listen to "Verve" below and find the new single on streaming platforms here. 20. After amassing over 46 million views prior to release, Dom Dolla has released "girl$" just in time for summer. Out now via Three Six Zero Recordings, "girl$" is a seductive and confident tech house track reminiscent of Dolla's signature, energetic style. The track blends an earworm of a bassline with vocals from Caitlin Stubbs and vox bits from the Aussie house music superstar himself. Dolla says "girl$" was inspired by a conversation with friends, who became jaded by today's dating scene and ultimately decided to give up. "In '24 we have so much choice," he said in a press release. "Nobody is limited by who they want to love or spend time with... whether that's a guy, girl, or even just relish in their own company." The hotly anticipated single arrives right before a massive run of shows for Dolla, who will soon DJ at Electric Forest, Ushuaïa Ibiza, Austin City Limits and Tomorrowland's momentous 20th anniversary festival, among others. 21. Progressive house anthems are now second nature for Martin Garrix, DubVision and Shaun Farrugia, who have reunited for a new single, "Wherever You Are." The group, whose 2022 hit Starlight (Keep Me Afloat)" continues to send festival crowds to cloud nine, is back on Garrix's STMPD RCRDS after he premiered the track during his show-stopping Ultra Miami 2024 set. A soaring testament to love's boundless pursuit, the production of "Wherever You Are" is signature Garrix and DubVision, who've once again managed to produce a cascading torrent of euphoric synths and palpitating basslines atop Farrugia's impassioned vocals. His lyrics take the song to stratospheric heights, painting a visceral portrait of its central promise: to conquer any obstacle for the sake of love. "I'll tear the heavens apart, just to be in your arms," he belts. "'Wherever You Are' is more than just a song," Farrugia said in a statement. "It's the feeling so many of us feel inside our hearts, gives us purpose, and remembers the ones we've lost along the way." Take a listen below. The track's origins can be traced back to a modest video call between Garrix, DubVision and Farrugia, who ultimately connected in Amsterdam to work on the record before finishing it just hours before Ultra. "This song is a special one for me... This song was just pure joy to make," Garrix gushed. You can find "Wherever You Are" on streaming platforms here. LumenEarz is making noise—no pun intended—in the electronic dance music community thanks to its unique LED earplugs, which are designed to offer both effective hearing protection and a fashion statement. The company was founded back in 2021 by John "Max' Dennis, an avid electronic music enthusiast and advocate for hearing health with over a decade of experience working with the hearing-impaired. LumenEarz aims to address the lack of hearing safety awareness among ravers and festival-goers while providing them with an easily adoptable solution. Launched in 2023, their stylish LED earplugs reduce sound by an impressive 20dB, LumenEarz says, while offering four color options and two matching flash patterns. And apart from its use as a fashionable rave accessory, they also allow users to locate their friends in a large crowd by matching their earplug color. c/o LumenEarz Despite competition from larger brands, LumenEarz has built a loyal following by focusing on affordability and quality, ensuring their products remain accessible to a broad audience. The innovative brand is also already planning significant upgrades to its LED earplugs while focusing heavily on serving its community. "At LumenEarz, we are proud to have created a product that not only protects your hearing but also adds an element of excitement with our LED earplugs," Dennis said. "We believe in offering a solution that not only meets a vital need but also enhances the enjoyment of music events, and the enthusiastic support we’ve received, particularly from the EDM community, speaks volumes about the impact we’re making." 24. Picture this with a Kodak: Afrojack, Pitbull and Ne-Yo have reunited over a decade after releasing "Give Me Everything." Back in 2011, Mr. Worldwide seduced us all to the dancefloor with the smash hip-house hit, which topped the US Billboard Hot 100 chart at the time and appeared on his fan-favorite Planet Pit album. The track, which features Ne-Yo's buttery vocals and Afrojack's signature "Dirty Dutch" production, ultimately grew into a generational dance anthem. 13 years after their iconic collaboration dominated the airwaves, Afrojack, Pitbull and Ne-Yo are back to transport us to a time when hashtags were just becoming a thing and everyone was still reeling from the end of the Harry Potter film series. The trio today released their new single, "2 The Moon," out now via Pitbull's Mr. 305 Records. A planetary call to hedonistic nights with a partner, "2 The Moon" recaptures the feverish energy and head-over-heels rapture of its predecessor, which joined Spotify's elusive billion-streams club in early-2024. 25. As the summer festival season heats up, Martin Garrix has blessed his fans with an anthemic new single. The new song is sure to be a highlight of his shows and summer season. The Dutch DJ/producer has joined forces with fellow producer and DJ duo DubVision and singer/songwriter Shaun Farrugia on “Wherever You Are,” an emotionally charged and euphoric dance track. The new collaboration was premiered during Garrix’s headlining set at Ultra Music Festival in Miami. As the melodic chords swelled and Farrugia’s powerful vocals rang out, the massive audience was enraptured by the instantly catchy yet deeply meaningful song. Garrix even brought out Farrugia for a special live performance. This song is a special one for me. DubVision, Shaun, and I had so much fun while working in the studio together, and I’m super excited the 4 of us are releasing another track together. This song was just pure joy to make- Garrix said of the new single. The 4 worked day and night to complete the tune for Ultra The quartet had to work quickly to complete “Wherever You Are” in time for the Ultra debut, as DubVision recounted When we were in the studio with Martin to work on the foundation of ‘Wherever You Are’, he got super excited and insisted on playing this at Ultra Music festival. The only problem was that Ultra was within a week and the track was not even close to finished. The 4 of us worked day and night to finish it on time, and we’re super happy with the result. For Farrugia, the deeper meaning behind the lyrics resonates strongly. Wherever You Are is more than just a song. It’s the feeling so many of us feel inside our hearts, gives us purpose, and remembers the ones we’ve lost along the way. I feel so honored to be back working with my brothers Marty and the DubVision boys. A song which started on a video call took us to Amsterdam, worked on as we crossed the Atlantic, and finished hours before Ultra Miami. I can’t wait for you all to hear it. Now that “Wherever You Are” has officially been released on streaming platforms, the massive Martin Garrix collaboration will serve as the closing song for his summer shows and festival sets around the world. With its grand melodies, driving bassline, and anthemic vocals, the new single is sure to become a fan favorite. It will surely provide an epic, emotional climax to the Martin Garrix live experience this season. The post Martin Garrix Releases New Single “Wherever You Are” appeared first on The Groove Cartel.
