Billy McFarland Announces Dates and Location of Fyre Festival II
Stories of downfall don't always leave room for redemption, but Billy McFarland has announced his plan to reverse the fortunes of 2017's ill-fated Fyre Festival in early 2025. Speaking with NBC News' Savannah Sellers on TODAY, McFarland officially announced Fyre Festival II, which he says is set to take place in April on a private island in the Caribbean off the coast of Mexico. With lessons learned, McFarland says he's making changes in an effort to rebuild the most infamous brand in festival culture. The event, spanning three days, will aim to lean on existing infrastructure for lodging and services. He also stated that Fyre has contracted the services of an outside production company to manage the logistics, the name of which he will reveal at a later stage. Following McFarland's guilty plea on wire fraud charges, he was released from jail in 2022. However, he still owes restitution to employees and investors of the original Fyre Festival to the tune of approximately $26 million. Ergo, the stakes seemingly could not be higher this time around. "Fyre II has to work," McFarland recently told the Wall Street Journal. McFarland, however, remains cognizant of the fact that it's unlikely the totality of his financial debt will be wiped clean in one fell swoop. "It’s hard because this is the deeper issue, where there are people who were legitimately hurt and let down from Fyre I, whether that was an employee and a family of a member of an employee, a ticket-holder," he told Sellers on TODAY. 'So there’s a lot of work that needs to be done to repay those people. I don’t think it’s practical. I don’t actually think it’s right to try to do all that in the first year. I think that would lead to short term decisions." Despite the debacle of the original Fyre Festival on the Bahamian island of Great Exuma, it appears thousands of consumers are still willing to place their trust in McFarland's vision for Fyre II. Just 10 hours after the announcement, he revealed that applications had been submitted for over 5,000 tickets, noting the event will only accommodate 3,000 attendees total. A sliding scale of ticket packages will start from $1,400 all the way up to a jaw-dropping $1.1 million per ticket. Prospective ticket-buyers can submit their application here. Fyre Festival II is scheduled to take place April 25-28, 2025. EXCLUSIVE: Billy McFarland reveals date and location for Fyre Festival II “Fyre Festival II is happening April 25, 2025, so we’re seven and a half months away,” he told @watchsavannah. “We have a private island off the coast of Mexico in the Caribbean." pic.twitter.com/Qw5gq9NTNA — TODAY (@TODAYshow) September 9, 2024

Buyers of Nonrefundable Passes to Cancelled Lucidity Festival Offered Free SSBD 2024 Tickets
In the wake of Lucidity Festival's sudden cancellation and the controversial decision by its organizers not to offer refunds, ticket-holders were left without a clear path forward. However, in a generous act of support for the festival community, Same Same But Different has decided to extend an offer: a free General Admission ticket to their 2024 event at Lake Perris State Park. The proprietors of SSBD, an unaffiliated festival property, share no financial ties with Lucidity and are extending the offer purely as a gesture of goodwill, according to a press release shared with EDM.com. The contentious cancellation of Lucidity came after months of delays and failed attempts to relocate the event to Monterey County, with organizers eventually ceasing operations due to financial pressures and logistical hurdles. The decision not to refund ticket-holders led to considerable backlash, leaving thousands of festival-goers in a financial hole. While Lucidity's collapse left a sour taste, SSBD is offering a lifeline. "We know how challenging these times can be, especially when the festival experiences we all cherish don't go as planned," reads a statement released by SSBD. "It's never easy when something you've been looking forward to doesn’t work out, and we understand how much time, energy and anticipation went into planning for Lucidity." Fatboy Slim Explains Why He Wouldn’t Collab With Fred again..
When a DJ explicitely says they would not work with another artist, usually we would be shocked. However, DJ and Producer Fatboy Slim has a really understandable excuse as to why he would not be able to work with electronic star Fred again.. . Technology Savvy? Turns out Norman Cook AKA Fatboy Slim wouldn’t work with Fred Again.. only because Slim is far too old-school with his old equipment. He stated that would not be able to catch up to Fred’s. On an interview for Apple Music 1, Slim expressed that people have requested for both british artists to collaborate. However, Slim explained that Fred’s tech is far too advanced. He continued, that even into this century, he was using his Atari ST-based setup until he was peer-pressured to upgrade to a smaller laptop. He then had to learn Ableton, which was a challenge for him. Nevertheless, he was able to adapt and conquer well into this decade. Nevertheless, Cook still dabbles back into his retro-gear here and there. Whenever he can’t find inspiration in his laptop, he will go back to his Atari set up and let the flow carry his art. Furthermore, he gave Fred Again.. his flowers : f”I’m old school, i’m og and i’m used to just playing records with the cross fader and maybe just using a sample a bit, but he’s taking it to the next level, i don’t feel like i’m in the same conversation as him.” Fatboy Slim Jokingly, he also stated that he would feel lost producing during a session with Fred. He since considers Fred as a tech-wizard. Towards the end of the interview, Fatboy Slim announced that he has a new single on the way. Even though he was not as excited to reveal ‘Bus Stop Please’, we are extremely excited to enjoy more of the OG. Slim is currently Europe before touching down in North America For Escape Halloween in San Bernardino and Radius in Chicago. Experience 25, the exhibition celebrating the history of the iconic Isle of Wight Festival, opens at London’s O2
This year marks the 25th edition of Isle of Wight Festival, including the three original events held in 1968, ‘69 and ‘70. To celebrate this landmark in music history, Experience 25 – an exhibition dedicated to the festival’s remarkable history – will run at the O2’s Innovation Centre from 19th September – 13th November. The grand space will play host to an archive documenting the festival’s most magical moments; from Bob Dylan’s 150,000 strong crowd in 1969 (which included three of The Beatles), to Amy Winehouse’s duet with Mick Jagger in 2007. Visitors will travel back in time and be invited into the office of Ray Foulk, the original curator of the first three festivals. Step inside an authentic recreation of Ray’s wonderfully creative and chaotic workspace and see how he and his team put together the historic events with a hippy ethos, overcoming a series of obstacles and dramas along the way. Also on display, original images and footage of performances by The Doors, The Who, Joni Mitchell, and even Hendrix shredding in front a 500,000 strong crowd in 1970. Experience the atmosphere of a moment in time – an era of hope and innocence. Guests will then be transported to 2002, when legendary promoter John Giddings revived the festival, beginning its hugely successful run to the present day. The Isle of Wight Festival now hosts 60,000 music fans a year. Relive David Bowie’s stunning headline set in 2004, Jay Z’s dominating performance in 2010 and Dave Grohl cementing himself in rock history 2011, all the way through to Green Day taking the reins as 2024’s unforgettable headliners. Experience 25’s London run finds its perfect home at the O2; a venue inextricably linked to the Isle of Wight Festival, where many of its artists throughout the years have graced the stage. John Giddings said: “The iconic Isle of Wight festival 1970 was the Woodstock of Europe, but the IOW Member of Parliament at the time, in all his wisdom, decided to ban it for 32 years in the form of an act of parliament – allowing others to pick up the baton… “They let us restart it for the Queen’s jubilee, and it has gone from strength to strength – re-establishing this small island off the south coast of England as a worldwide brand. “Here is a celebration of the last 22 years, with the original three years added by kind courtesy of Ray Foulk, without whom it, it would not exist…” Ray Foulk said: “My family is delighted to contribute to this commemorative show with historic items and archives as it travels from the Island to the O2. It is with great pride that our embryonic rock festivals of more than half a century ago have been so successfully and splendidly revived”. Experience 25 incorporates the three Isle of Wight Festivals that were organised by Ray Foulk and his brothers – the 1970 one being ‘The Last Great Event’ at which everyone played, including Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, The Who and Joni Mitchell and over half a million people came to see them! Plus the new Isle of Wight Festival exhibition from 2002 onwards – the hugely successful international Festival, which was restarted by John Giddings, and now sees 60,000 music fans arrive on the Isle of Wight every year to see artists such as Green Day, The Pet Shop Boys and The Prodigy (this year); Robbie Williams, Blondie and Pulp (2023); Fleetwood Mac (2016); The Red Hot Chili Peppers (2014); Bruce Springsteen (2012); Dave Grohl (2011); Paul McCartney, Pink and Jay Z (2010), The Rolling Stones and Amy Winehouse (2007) and David Bowie and The Who (2004). Entrance to the Innovation Centre is located next to the Las Iguanas Restaurant inside the O2 The post Experience 25, the exhibition celebrating the history of the iconic Isle of Wight Festival, opens at London’s O2 appeared first on Decoded Magazine.

Police in Berlin are searching for a man suspected of ramming his car into the entryway of a nightclub, Sisyphos, after being denied entry, according to local reports. Berliner Zeitung, one of the city's oldest newspapers, on Monday reported that the incident took place shortly before 6am on September 7th, when a pair of security guards refused the man's entrance to Sisyphos. Four Tet Ellie Goulding "In My Dreams" In a world of sonic conformity, "In My Dreams" is a refreshing breath of unconventional brilliance. Released moments ago via Three Six Zero Recordings, the new single is a distorted dreamscape of dance music that's both mesmerizing and unsettling. Goulding's voice, as delicate as ever, plunges us into a dream within a dream. She sings of "just visiting" our dreams, a phantasmic figure gliding through the subconscious. Meanwhile, Four Tet's production adds layers upon layers of grungy intensity. Four Tet says the new collaboration began when Goulding came up with a song idea and recorded voice notes containing lyrics and melodies. She then sent them in text messages and asked him if he was interested in producing a track around the vocal bits. "I found other noises to go with it and made 'In My Dreams,'" he explained in a press release. "[Goulding] added some new vocal parts but we ended up keeping the voice note recordings as the main vocal. I guess the first take is often the most magical. I wanted to make something that was all about juxtaposing harsh aggressive sound with the delicate and intimate." The influential producer previously enlisted Goulding for a feature on "Baby," a track from 2020's Sixteen Oceans, his 10th studio album. He then remixed Goulding's "Easy Lover" in 2022, leading to a Grammy nomination for Best Remixed Recording. You can find "In My Dreams" on streaming platforms here. Anna Lunoe Announces Debut Album, Drops Uplifting Title Track "Pearl"
With an uncanny ability to set an ecstatic mood through her music, the inimitable Anna Lunoe is set to release her debut album, Pearl. It's a big moment for the prolific Australian artist, who says she's laying bare her artistry in ways fans haven't yet seen. "When I started out in dance music as a local DJ, my dream was to fill dancefloors and pay my rent," Lunoe said in a press release. "As my career expanded and the industry changed and I got thrown into new challenge after new challenge, I always felt like my artist voice had to be secondary to my DJ needs. So in a way this marks a kinda colossal shift in perspective on my career to date, putting my artistry at the front in a way I never have before." Lunoe, who will soon support The Weeknd on tour in Australia, is known for her versatility as a producer, creating rapturous dance music rooted in house, garage, techno and more. Following July's release of "Only Love," she's now back on Nina Las Vegas' NLV Records with "Pearl," the title track from the new album. Though powerful in her production, Lunoe infuses an airy softness into the uplifting single to deliver a bubbly track fit for both a sunny stroll or a sweaty dancefloor. The record, she says, finds her at her "most sincere." "To me the sentiment in this song is about fighting for your spirit and creative force in a world that isn't really designed for us to hold on to it," Lunoe said in a press release. "Sonically this was an exercise in emotion and clarifying a feeling as opposed to straight up club tune-making—it's more sincere than I've allowed myself to be publicly before, but those few who get to hear my scruffy demos know this Anna well." You can check out the new single below and pre-save Pearl here. The album is scheduled to release October 25th, 2024.
