Fred again.. Ascends at the LA Memorial Coliseum, Dancing Fans Rush the Stage
When Fred again.. announced his first-ever stadium show, everyone knew he would deliver a blissful barrage of summer moments to share with friends. But few could have expected such a massive success, even by the British superstar's lofty standards. Friday's event at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum was proof of just how much his fans have grown to love him too. Despite the fanfare of his debut stadium gig—and an almost sold out one at that—it was packed with intimate moments. Fred again.. performing at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on June 14th, 2024.Eric Dew Under the Memorial Coliseum's lights and plumes of mythic smoke, Fred appeared and reappeared in different locations throughout the arena. Throughout the evening's countless "one-time at Fred again.." moments, more than 100,000 people were whisked away by his pensive sound. He even suddenly materialized in the stands to serenade attendees up-close in the cheap seats, like when he and Obongjayar performed their fan-favorite collaboration "adore u." Near the end of the evening, a torrent of fans found their way onto an elevated catwalk that lined the inside circumference of the stadium. Floorboards cracked under the weight of so many while Fred geared up for a firework-laden climax. Seeing the danger present, the venue's safety crew sprung into action and brought the show to a sudden stop. A buzzkill for sure, but it may have saved more than a few lives as the catwalk, which clearly was not designed to hold so many, was visibly collapsing away from its scaffolding when the smoke cleared. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. View the original article to see embedded media. It was a rare moment that revealed the caliber of the safety crew kept at the ready by the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. It also showcased the admriation and respect Fred again.. has for his ride-or-die fans. And even though it seemed like a bit of a downer at the time the music had to be halted, it's likely a memory that those fans will be telling their friends about for a long, long time. Celebrating 11 Epic Years of Avicii’s ‘Wake Me Up’
Today marks the 11th anniversary of the release of Avicii‘s iconic song ‘Wake Me Up’ . When the Swedish-born DJ and Producer, already renowned for his timeless classic ‘Levels’, first played this song, it became evident that ‘Wake Me Up’ would transcend boundaries and unite people worldwide. “‘Wake Me Up’ seamlessly blends uplifting beats with heart-rending lyrics that evoke strong emotions. For many, such as millennials, this song was a coming-of-age one, marking the next step in life: adulthood. The song was released during a time where many individuals like myself were embarking on new journeys, be it entering university or the workforce. But, what became apparent is that this wholesome song by Aviici became impossible to escape following its release on June 18th, 2013. It dominated clubs, radio stations and festivals. On August 21, 2024, ‘Wake Me Up’ surpassed 2 billion streams on Spotify. It also became loved globally, topping charts in more than 20 countries and became recognized as the highest-performing dance single in history with over 10 million certified copies sold. If this isn’t an indication of the song’s extensive and enduring popularity across various platforms, then what is? Produced by Avicii for his debut album “True,” released on June 17, 2013, ‘Wake Me Up’ was co-written by Avicii, Mike Einziger of Incubus, and American soul singer Aloe Blacc, who also provided the vocals. The song’s unique fusion of EDM with folk and soul elements set it apart, showcasing Avicii‘s innovative approach to music production. Colleagues and collaborators often remarked on Avicii‘s clear vision and determination. When he set his mind to a project, it was a moment of certainty, much like the creation of ‘Wake Me Up’ . “So wake me up when it’s all over, when I’m wiser and I’m older” resonates deeply, as it captures not just the essence of hope and youthful passion but also perfectly describes the movement of time. Most of us are older and wiser now, so listening to Avicii’s track is bound to invoke feelings of nostalgia and deja vu. For me, it makes me reminisce about my youthful days of going out on a Friday night with friends, and just letting ourselves be swayed by the love for music and dance. This line in itself is one that reflects the universal desire to grow and learn through life’s experiences. This track not only solidified Avicii‘s status as a musical genius but also became a timeless anthem for generations to come. So honor Avicii‘s legacy by turning up ‘Wake Me Up’ and reliving the magic of those unforgettable days!

Tiësto, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Gabry Ponte join forces on a rework of Eminem’s ‘Mockingbird’
Tiësto, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and Gabry Ponte teamed up to take on a bold project–putting an electronic spin on Eminem’s iconic hit “Mockingbird” from 2005. While remaking an Eminem track is never something to take lightly, the artists leveraged their collective 30+ years in production to craft a version that pays homage to the original and carves out its unique identity. The massive remix has been a highly anticipated release since Tiësto dropped it in his main stage set at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival back in March. Opening with a chirpy xylophone solo, “Mockingbird” ups the ante with heart-pounding four-on-the-floor bass combined with hardstyle-influenced synths that make for an absolute dance floor heater. The distinct and nostalgic sound has seen a resurgence recently, with “Mockingbird” serving as a perfect follow-up to Tiësto, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Dido, and W&W’s “Thank You (Not So Bad)” from back in December. Who The Hell Is Ellictt
Photo Credit: Kamil Szczucki It is no secret that Perth loves D&B, and after watching artists from across the globe gush about its parties on social media, it’s clear to see that D&B too, loves Perth. Don’t get it twisted though: This was no happy accident. Like every scene, there are key players responsible for this wizardry. There have been many producers, promoters, artists and DJs who have helped the Perth D&B scene flourish into the beautiful raving city that it is today. Ellictt is by all means one of them. Energetic and bold with both her DJ sets and production style, Ellictt is the epitome of relentless dancefloor energy. From mixing up a selection of treats alongside the likes of Pendulum, Andy C and Dimension, to crafting bangers in the studio, she is a force to be reckoned with and credited widely for her work within the Australian D&B scene. Following on from her debut release last year, Ellictt’s second release ‘Ghost’ has just dropped on Riot Records Uprising: Vol 1, an album showcasing some of the scene’s most exciting new talents. We jumped on Zoom with Ellictt to find out more. Ellictt! You had your debut release ‘Love Me’ out on Georgie Riot’s label Riot Records last year. How did you meet Georgie and become affiliated with Riot? I actually had no affiliation with Georgie prior to the release. I was producing on and off for a few years, released a few bootlegs and whatnot on Soundcloud but that was the first original track that I thought wasn’t that bad. I was trying to finish it around International Women’s Day last year, alongside this, I was also preparing a tracklist for a mix I was doing on radio for IWD, which is where I came across Georgie’s release on UKF. I started digging deeper and saw that she had so much music out that I thought was sick, consistent releases in a similar style to what I like. Once I’d finished the track I thought I’d shoot my shot and send it to her for Riot Records. I remember her email back being like ‘This is cool. I’m keen to sign it!’. I was then lucky enough to meet Georgie in person when I supported her at a show she did in Perth last year that was run by my friend sammythesinner. Releasing through Riot Records was great, especially as I’d never released onto Spotify before. Georgie was really helpful. We went back and forth on a few changes to the track, she gave some constructive feedback, I finished it, and then she helped me with the whole releasing aspect too. All of the other artists on the label have been so nice too. I’m so far away here in Perth that I can’t connect with a lot of people in person so it’s nice to have a community online. We’re sort of in our own little bubble out here, so it’s hard to make connections outside of Australia. How does being in that Perth/Australian bubble affect your connection and involvement to the wider scene? It’s funny because you can meet everyone and progress really quickly here. If you’re good, you’ll get booked and if you’re really good, you’ll get booked for great slots. People know who you are, you’ll have that respect. For me, I’ve been doing it long enough that people consider me as a veteran of the Perth scene, but then you do just hit a ceiling. Unless you produce and you produce well, it is hard to break out of Perth. I’ve witnessed that a lot. A few people do it, but it’s hard. If it wasn’t for social media, I don’t think I’d have many connections outside of Perth. Social media has been good for me because I can show a lot of people what I’m about, but I can also see what’s going on in other parts of the world. I would never have known about Georgie and Riot Records if I didn’t have social media. So yes, there is that disconnect but it makes it even more special when you do feel connected to a community so far away. You’re not physically there, but you are contributing. Are there any Perth-based drum & bass artists that you’re really loving at the minute? My friend sammythesinner is definitely someone I want to shout out because not only is she a drum & bass DJ and producer, but she’s a promoter as well. She’s really established herself over the past few years. She’s gone from running small events to big events to festivals. Sometimes I don’t know how she does it! When I realised ‘Love Me’ she promoted the regional tour that I did too. She’s been super supportive of me. There are a couple of other really strong female acts in Perth too, Ren Zukii and WYN, both have had releases uploaded to UKF so I’d say from a female perspective, they’d be key players. Then there are all the guys too. It’s still male-dominated but the guys are great, I have a lot of male friends here in the scene. Taking it back to your Soundcloud days, how did you first get into D&B and production in particular? I started DJing about 10 years ago now. I first started getting into drum & bass when I was a teenager, around 2010, there was a lot of great music coming out on channels like UKF at the time. It was a big time for bass music. During High School, my friends would play drum & bass and dubstep at parties so naturally, when I turned 18, the first two events I went to were drum & bass events. I think the first one was Logistics in a small bar in Perth. It was the time when artists like Wilkinson were playing much smaller capacity venues, like 500 people in one room. I started DJing a few years later when I was at University. There was a DJ club there called the Electronic Music Appreciation Society. I made heaps of friends and learnt heaps of skills! Perth is small enough for you to network and make friends pretty quickly. I entered a few of the DJ comps, met a few of the promoters and started getting booked for gigs from then. That was a long time ago now. In terms of production, I did a music production course about 8 years ago now. I dabbled a bit after that but I didn’t really get anywhere with an original release. There were a few tracks that I did bootlegs of but I wasn’t getting anywhere with anything original until the last 2-3 years where I’ve been in the right space in terms of a studio and had the right people around me, people who are also honing their production skills. I’m more confident now. I can start and finish a track and know that at least someone will like it. It’s all about the journey, or so they say! All of our favourite artists started somewhere. Exactly, and I spend so much time listening to drum & bass artists that have been producing for 20 years so it’s disheartening when you’re trying really hard and you’re just not getting there when you’re always comparing yourself to people who have been in the scene for decades. As a DJ, I’m super critical of the music that I play. I always try to pick quality music, so when you have high standards like that, learning to produce can be frustrating because you want it to sound as good as the music you play out. That’s so true. That is quite a unique difficulty for people who start out as DJs first. It really is. Every week I’ll listen to new releases and you get to a point where you know what’s good, you know what’s subpar. Each to their own, of course, but it’s hard when that’s your benchmark as a producer. It’s like ‘Why won’t it sound the same!’. A lot of that frustration is down to the mixdown, which I am getting better at over time. Your perception of things is always different to how other people see you though. I always think, the fact that I can even finish a song and it actually sounds like a song is ridiculous. If I could tell myself 8 years ago that I would have a track on Spotify, I don’t think I’d believe it. You’re about to feature on a various artists album on Riot Records, talk to me about your track! My song is called ‘Ghost’. It’s a bit of a funny one as it was supposed to be a Ghostbusters parody bootleg. It originally had a Ghostbusters sample that said ‘I ain’t afraid of no ghost’, and the track grew around that. I started throwing in all these spooky-sounding samples. I sent it to Georgie and she liked it and wanted to release it on the various artists album. Which I was really happy about. I didn’t know who else would be on the release or how much of a big project it would be but I was keen to get more music out there, especially with Riot Records again. The track is of a similar style to ‘Love Me’ so there’s some consistency there too. When I first sent the track to her, it had the original Ghostbusters sample in there. I wasn’t sure if I could release it because of the sample. I asked loads of people and they said it was a grey area, so I found a different sample and replaced it. It turned out for the better in the end! It’s sort of a spooky dance floor tune. I’m super excited about it. The album is to promote up-and-coming talent that Georgie is really rating at the minute. Who else can you big up from the album? There’s heaps of incredible artists releasing on the VA. Feed The Fire is great, one day I hope to do a collab with him if we get the time. Then there is BRIGSY, who is originally from New Zealand but he’s been working in Western Australia. BORN GLOBAL, they’re really good too. Aside from your DJ and production skills, what other things do you think helped you stand out and get yourself noticed in a saturated market? Networking at University definitely helped me. I used to volunteer a lot, running events, working the door at festivals, and hosting DJ lessons. I also entered a lot of competitions. Back then, in-person mix competitions were really great if you wanted to meet new people. One competition, in particular, did a lot for me as it got me my first gig supporting an international headliner. After that, I started getting better set times. If you’re starting from scratch, it is competitive, but that doesn’t mean you can’t compete. Buy yourself some gear, rent out some studios twice a week and start building up a collection of music. Find out what makes you different. Then, it’s seizing an opportunity when it arises: playing in a bar, playing at a friend’s event. Everyone has to start somewhere. Take baby steps, but if you want to do it, you can. All in good time.

Martin Garrix’s ‘Animals’ Released Into The Wild 11 Years Ago
Back in 2010 before he had become arguably the biggest electronic music artist in the world, Martin Garrix was working on a song titled ‘Swedish House Mafia Break’ that wouldn’t be finished or released. This may seem like an irrelevant project amidst his incredible discography, but the melody from this project would go onto to be part of one of the most iconic songs ever made, ‘Animals.’ Martin Garrix had a rapid rise to the top following being signed by Spinnin Records in 2012 after they heard his remix of Enrique Iglesias’ ‘Tonight (I’m Loving You).’ Upon meeting him, Spinnin Records thought they were having a joke played on them as they met with a 14-year-old Martin Garrix who was much younger than they expected. Despite his young age he would release several massively successful songs with them such as ‘ITSA’, ‘BFAM’, and ‘Torrent’ which would start to put his name on the name on the map, even getting praise from one of the greats of electronic music, Tiesto. But it was in 2013 with the release of ‘Animals’ that his career would really take off. It would launch to number 1 in the Official UK Top 40 Singles chart on debut making him the second youngest artist to ever get a number 1 single in the UK at the age of only 17 years old. This big room house banger would go on to garner over 400 million streams on Spotify and is widely considered one of the best electronic music tracks ever made. The success of ‘Animals’ would take the Dutch DJ from playing at small clubs in 2013, to playing at some of the biggest festivals in the world in 2014 including Creamfields, Lollapalooza, Ultra and Tomorrowland. The thundering kick and unique lead sound are undeniable perfection from a thriving time for EDM. This track made Martin Garrix the household name that he is today and deservedly so as he has kept on releasing music that dominates the EDM scene and he has shown no sign of slowing down. For many people ‘Animals’ was their gateway into electronic music, and it will continue to be as 11 years on from its release it is still just as exhilarating and adrenaline pumping to listen to as it was on its release.

Blending Cinematic Lines and Hard-Hitting Bass is Selfless ‘Bleeding Moon’
Melbourne-based producer Selfless has released a captivating new single that seamlessly fuses atmospheric melodies with crushing basslines. “Bleeding Moon” kicks off with a wide, grooving bassline that immediately draws the listener in with its infectious rhythm. Hypnotic harmonies build tension as the track progresses, hinting at the drama about to unfold. The long main theme presents a fresh take on cinematic sound design, with lush synth pads swelling into view. Soft melodic lines cascade overtop, adding an emotive quality that tugs at the heartstrings. But just as you’re lulled into a dream-like state, the sinister plucked top melody rips through, signaling an abrupt descent into darkness. The drop hits with snarling force, bass distortion cranked to punishing levels as gnashing growls ricochet from every angle. It’s an adrenaline-pumping barrage of sound that leaves you feeling disoriented yet utterly compelled to keep listening. Selfless masterfully blends light and shadow, beauty and brutality into an intoxicating clash of styles. The Australian producer has become known for crafting rich, immersive sonic worlds that blend nostalgic melodies with otherworldly atmosphere and bowel-loosening bass weight. From hypnotic ambient textures to pumping industrial rhythms, twisted robotic growls to wubbing wobble-fests, each Selfless production tells a unique story through the language of sound. “Bleeding Moon” is a thrilling new chapter that cements their status as one of bass music’s most evocative storytellers. Late Night Therapy breaks down his latest tune ‘Altitude’
Late Night Therapy has recently unveiled his most ambitious and unique track yet, “Altitude.” It promises to take listeners on an emotional rollercoaster. In a recent interview, the artist shared insights into the creative process behind this remarkable piece of music. “Altitude” is a departure from the traditional structure of a DJ set, where transitions between songs create a sense of excitement and reset. Instead, Late Night Therapy has crafted a single track that encapsulates three distinct chapters, each with its own texture, vibe, and emotion, culminating in an overall emotional journey. The first chapter of “Altitude” is characterized by a dark, aggressive, and masculine tone, reflecting the emotional battle to rise above negative events that cross our paths. A vocal mantra, “Higher,” captures this struggle, serving as a rallying cry to overcome adversity. As the track transitions into its second phase, a dramatic shift occurs. The music, texture, and emotion undergo a transformation, ushering in a euphoric and uplifting atmosphere. Late Night Therapy describes this section as the “epiphany,” a return to faith in the positive aspects of reality when we align ourselves with the frequency we wish to attract. The artist achieved this by transitioning from darker electronic and synthesized sounds to a more emotional, open, and organic soundscape, with a piano serving as the main driver for this uplifting journey. The final phase of “Altitude” is a celebration, a “party” that represents a return to the dream state. With a pulsating dance beat, this section invites listeners to revel in the positive emotion cultivated when we come together as a community, having overcome the challenges of the first chapter. Bexxie Returns to Insomniac’s IN / ROTATION with “Gotta Be Real”
The American house music producer Bexxie is back on Insomniac’s sister label IN / ROTATION with her second song, “Gotta Be Real,” which came out June 11th. In “Gotta Be Real,” she pays tribute to her roots by sampling the famous track “Injected With A Poison” by Praga Khan. She describes this record as a key piece of music from her early days as a dancefloor reveler. The song comes after her last hit, “Got Me,” which got support from Fedde Le Grand, dEVOLVE, and Tomo Hirata. Bexxie talked about how she felt about making the song and releasing it. She said: I’m excited to be releasing with IN / ROTATION again! “Gotta Be Real” was made because I wanted to make a song that mixed modern house music with sounds from my rave days in the 1990s. It always gets people moving when I play this song in my sets!!!! American artist Bexxie is making waves in house music with her love of rave culture from the 1990s and classic grooves. She is based on the East Coast. 1001TrackLists called her the “Future of Dance.” She has played directly support for Above & Beyond, Chromeo, Dombresky, and Andrew Bayer, and she joined Seven Lions on his “Journey III” Tour for 23 stops. Bexxie’s song “Gotta Be Real” takes you back to the good old days of rave by mixing classic tech house and disco themes with modern music. This song makes her stand out as an artist to watch. From Predicting the Future to Reuniting With Lost Loved Ones, Zingara Channels a Life of Phenomena in "The Code of Dreamz"
If music is a lens into an artist's mind, Zingara's debut album is a portal to her conscious, subconscious and what exists in between. The Code of Dreamz sonically translates a life of peculiar occurrences. "There was a huge tsunami and earthquake that hit Japan…" Zingara tells EDM.com. "It’s one of the biggest in history. The night before it happened—I was a kid and didn’t know how to spell 'tsunami'—I had a dream with the ocean and saw it. I basically lived through it from a woman’s perspective. I woke up and thought, 'That felt really real. What the frick was that?'" "I went online and a giant tsunami had just hit Japan." Zingara claims her vision relating to the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami—the most powerful earthquake in Japan’s history and the fourth most powerful earthquake recorded in human history—was among her early foresight of future events, including the deaths of loved ones. “I never know what to say because before it happens you sound crazy and you sound crazier when it does happen,” Zingara says. “So I just write it down and keep note of it.” Zingara dreamed vividly from a young age. Her aunt took an interest in her vibrant relationship with her subconscious and taught her about spirits, tarot cards, oracles, astrology and witchcraft. It’s these lessons that nurtured a seed of spirituality, which later became the fabric of her haunting bass music. “I was the weird ghost kid,” Zingara said. “...When I started to make my own music, it clicked one day that I could start telling these stories through my music. Ever since then, when it did click, that’s when my song ‘Astra’ was birthed into the world and it stuck with people. I thought, ‘Okay, maybe this is what I’m supposed to be talking about.’” “These experiences, talking about it and relating to other people ended up helping people. At first, when I was a kid I thought me and my family were the only people who had these experiences because everyone else around me was like, ‘What the f—?’ It wasn’t until I started talking about it online that I realized how common it was.” Zingara started her music career as a young adult in 2017 after her friend Noi encouraged her to pursue one. Noi, her friend Brandon and her grandfather affectionately called "Pop" all passed away that same year. “I really want to do this even more for them,” Zingara says. “I felt that sometimes when I have musical ideas, they come from another voice in my head. When I write music, I can get into such a flow state where I feel their energy channeled through me.” Zingara’s deep spirituality and dreamworld romps have shaped a distinctive relationship with loss. Grief and anxiety exist, but so does a comforting presentness. Take her new song “The Stars Are Calling Me,” for example, a track not only dedicated to her passed loved ones but also one she believes is touched by them. “It literally felt like it was already written. It felt like it was really written from the stars,” she explains. “It’s just magical seeing it come through life in these stories and experiences actually manifest into reality. I work with grief directly and channelled and it’s magical in a weird, twisted way.” "I sound like a lunatic when I talk about this conversation. The way I view loss and that kind of stuff is a little bit different because of my connection to spirit. It’s so weird to say but I feel closer to my loved ones—the ones that have passed—I feel their energy all the time." Zingara was 12 when she started writing her dreams down. It’s a common exercise among active and prospective lucid dreamers. The “Close Your Eyes” producer shared one particularly vivid dream she had the week her friend Brandon passed. “There are experiences that genuinely do feel real and I’m self-aware in. That’s the difference,” Zingara said when comparing these dreams to more anxiety-inducted subconscious manifestations. “The emotions are nuts.” “The week that my friend Brandon passed away, he knew that I was super involved in the spirit world and dream world. He came to me in a dream where he was standing on the edge of a cliff. There was a huge waterfall and crazy colors. I can’t even describe to you what I was looking at. He looks at me and says, ‘These are some of the places I get to go now.’ He hugged me and disappeared. I was like, ‘What the f—? Screw you first of all. I want to come. Okay, like you get to explore the universe! Cool!’ It was crazy magical.” Zingara’s rising popularity has introduced her to countless others who’ve shared similar experiences. Many people will be skeptical of such stories, this writer among them. Zingara acknowledges and accommodates that comfortably. To each their own. But grief and loss are universally shared experiences, something Zingara is seasoned to help others process. “I’m very grateful for the lessons and experiences I’ve had and had to go through since they passed away because it’s led me to a way to help people dealing with their grief in a way that is new to a lot of people,” she says. “For me, I’ve been through it and I know how to go through it and deal with it and work with it in a weird way.” Your mileage may vary on the veracity of clairvoyance and what follows death. But these spiritual winds stoke the embers and fan the flames of a bright musical journey. The Code of Dreamz is a guide through Zingara’s ethereal gears—And it’s magical. If sitting still was a class requirement, NIIKO X SWAE's Detention EP would land everyone in hot water. The duo's latest release practically demands movement, wholly inspiring an irresistible urge to dance. The collection sees NIIKO X SWAE truly come into their own with uplifting rhythms that carry a spirited sense of urgency and fun. The Breakfast Club-inspired music video drives the message home, evoking memories of youthful defiance and the unfiltered joy of childlike whimsy. EDMTunes New Music Friday – Week 24
Listen to the most flavour-packed tracks we discovered this week. Music makes the world go round. And in that regard, we’re constantly on the lookout for new, exciting tunes to share with our audience. We’ve found some that cause goosebumps, and make you open your eyes and get up from your chair to dance. So put on your best pair of headphones, or turn up your speakers, and enjoy this week’s New Music Friday. Here are our top picks for the best music we came across this week, in no particular order. Temple One – Uncharted Genre: Progressive Trance, Trance We’re kicking off this week’s NMF with the return of one of those hidden Trance masters to the site. Nearly one year ago we shared the news of his album Vivid Motion, and we welcome him today with the release of his new track, ‘Uncharted‘. If you want to know one thing before diving in: it’s pure Trancy bliss. Temple One, an artist just a few years away from being active for two entire decades in the industry, presents today a pure journey through airy pads, sensitive atmospheres, and an overall fly-away sensation in this Progressive Trance wonder. Press ‘Play’ to be carried away by the elegant sound of the man himself. skribbs – DON’T LET GO, PT. 2 Genre: Drum & Bass, Techno Up-and-coming artist skribbs is not holding back this time. Some time ago, his original ‘DON’T LET GO’ sparked a crazy idea in him: what if he were to rethink the arrangement into something as banging as it was daring? And so, that’s how ‘DON’T LET GO, PT. 2‘ was born. “It is by far my most requested track to play at shows“, he says. Blending a couple of very different genres in quite a seamless manner, he’s been able to pull off a really interesting hybrid, which is comprised of Liquid Drum & Bass during the breaks, and a four-on-the-floor drop ensemble. And we can’t get enough of it, if we’re completely honest. Kamil Ghaouti x ANJE – All Up Genre: Deep House, EDM Get ready for what might become your next Summer anthem. Just in time for the change of season, Kamil Ghaouti and ANJE joined forces to unveil their single ‘All Up‘. The track represents a nod to the recent past, around 7-10 years ago, in which its sound reigned the Deep House kingdom. Enjoy the caress of soft 80s pads, slightly formant-pitched male vocals, offbeat House pianos, and a feel-good atmosphere, making up this song designed to be your companion on long rides by the coastal motorways, or simply at a gathering with friends. Whatever it is that you use it for, it won’t disappoint. 1111 – Joy Genre: UK House And speaking about feel-good songs! Enter 1111, the brand-new Electronic alias from established vocalist, songwriter and producer, Lauren L’aimant. After a long while earning support from artists such as Danny Howard and Ben Malone, she felt it was only fitting to open up a bit more and found this new concept. Right away you’ll notice how ‘Joy‘ simply makes you feel happy, somehow it achieves it from the first moment. Well, Lauren might have the answer: “I wrote ‘Joy’ as an expression of gratitude to the people I love; my girlfriend, family, and friends. They’ve been by my side through the coldest and darkest moments“. They are her joy, and we hope this track is yours. Longo feat. Marco Lollis & Martina Corona – All About U Genre: Future House And while we’re on this path, let’s wrap this week’s NMF on yet another of those tracks that make you feel happy from the start, just because. This one sparked our interest, since it feels super fitting for warm, summer days. A trio of Italian-born stars bring us the final track of this week: Longo, Marco Lollis, and Martina Corona. With a track that crosses boundaries from House and Future House over to Dance Pop territories, the end result of three good friends joining forces in the studio is a track that is emotional in the best of ways, and it’s called ‘All About U‘. The fast-paced base made by Longo gives way for Marco and Martina’s vocals to playfully take turns and offer the best result you could think of. Try it out for yourself! DIM KELLY Releases Exquisite ‘Homily’ EP On All Day I Dream
The label mainstay aced his ADID production once again. Great news comes from one of the finest Organic House imprints out there — All Day I Dream. This Friday sees the awaited release of a trio of tracks coming from one of the label’s most consistent producers: DIM KELLY. The Homily EP, as it’s been titled, once again explores the top-notch techniques and sounds of the artist, currently in his fifth year as a producer under the name. Talk about growth! Keeping his pace of an ADID EP a year strong and steady, the time has come for his 2024 contribution, after his past EPs Nocturna Animal in 2021, Mangrove in 2022, and Pianologic in 2023. The EP doesn’t only see him as a standalone act, though, for he brings Belgian musician Mondingo and Maya Safar’s soft voice to the package. Kelly recalls the creation of the EP had been happening for quite some time. He says, “As always, I try to convey emotions through my music. When I heard Mondingo’s voice two years ago, I was completely blown away by it. His voice has a depth and emotion that really touches me, so it was only natural that we did something together“. “I composed the music, sent it to him, and two days later, he sent back the vocals, which I loved. ‘Homily’ existed.” -DIM KELLY. The Homily EP With a total runtime of over 21 minutes, you can be sure each of these tracks will take you on a journey (which is my favourite part of these releases — we’ll talk about it someday). Through warm pianos, playful percussion, and just enough stellar elements, the record tells a different tale every 7 minutes, approximately. DIM KELLY – Homily EP Tracklist Homily with Mondingo Like When We Love with Maya Safar Rising Child ‘Homily’ The title track, ‘Homily‘, which gives the EP its name, is one of those IDs you will recognise from artists from the ADID roster all over the world during the past months. I may have listened to this one on Lee Burridge’s Burning Man 2023 set, I’m not sure. But what I’m sure of is this is not the first time I have listened to the fantastic atmosphere this track brings. Mysterious, taking away a sense of closure keywise but still giving the proper warmth Dim is famous for. Modningo’s vocals add a whole new layer of flavour, and actually, not only complement the track, but complete it. ‘Like When We Love’ If I had to pick one of the three for me, this is the one. Daring and energetic, ‘Like When We Love‘ crosses over to Afro House territory, and uses the piano resource in quite a different way from its brother, giving a much more playful, groovy feel, and serving as a top element instead of a supporter. The final touch is how Maya’s voice takes turns with other elements, such as a background trumpet and airy strings, to make the entire release shine to new levels. ‘Rising Child’ I know I picked the previous track as my favourite, but I need to highlight just how beautiful the arrangement is on this one. ‘Rising Child‘ is pure Organic bliss. From the shy percussion used, to the warm bassline driving the song, the vocal beds, and the octave-lowered strings, this might be the most elegant of the bunch, diving into a completely different dimension of depth. Little tracks can actually pull off these lower strings, and this one is most certainly a perfect example of HOW to do it. Lovely. Alan Walker And Ina Wroldsen Join Forces On New Anthem ‘Barcelona’
We’ve got the next big summer anthem for those after-sunset moments. Right off the back of his recent team-up with Disney star Kylie Cantrall on ‘Unsure‘, superstar Alan Walker is back with the brand-new, surefire summer anthem, ‘Barcelona‘. This number marks his third time joining forces with the ever-talented vocalist Ina Wroldsen, the voice behind tracks such as Steve Aoki’s ‘Lie To Me’, and her own ‘Strongest’, a track later remixed by Alan Walker, and which has earned just shy of two hundred million Spotify streams as we speak. The track, originally birthed from Ina’s demo, became a reality when Ina presented the rough demo that she had written to Alan Walker who got to producing as soon as he heard it, falling in love with the potential of the record. It is safe to say, both artists’ core sounds and choices are present throughout the record, which goes to show just how good of a team the pair serve as. (Left to right) Alan Walker, Ina Wroldsen. ‘Barcelona’ Wroldsen, a songwriting powerhouse who has lent her talents to artists like Shakira, Demi Lovato, and Calvin Harris, brings her angelic vocals to life over Walker’s signature Future Bass production. Together, they create a bubbly and light-hearted soundscape that perfectly captures the carefree spirit of a summer night. A feel-good and laid-back track, several organic elements are scattered across, such as an acoustic guitar strum and beachy ambient background sounds, and they blend with more digital synths and programmed textures, which actually works for a much greater purpose than a standalone single: the track finds a spot in Walker’s most vanguardist project thus far: his evolution of the Walkerworld concept within Fortnite. As he recalls, “‘Barcelona’ is not just a song that kicks off the summer; it’s also the beginning of a new trilogy and this summer’s big project, Walkerworld Creator Games+. Since I started posting songs on YouTube in 2012, I’ve been inspired by other creators who use my music in their own videos, so I can´t wait to see what people come up with“. Listen to Alan Walker featuring Ina Wroldsen‘s ‘Barcelona‘ down below for your Spotify play. Also, be sure to check out this link to support the track on your platform of choice.
