Glasgow Sub Club Dazzle Lager – made for dancing in collaboration with Brewgooder
World-renowned electronic music venue Sub Club has teamed up with local brewer Brewgooder to create its very own lager. Launching Saturday, June 22, the crisp and refreshing Sub Club Dazzle Lager will be sold exclusively behind the bar at the Jamaica Street venue and its rooftop bar – and not only will the 4.5% easy drinking session lager work as the perfect partner for the dancefloor, but each can enjoyed will help to nurture the next generation of musical talent, too. For each can sold Sub Slub and the Brewgooder Foundation will donate 5p each to the Dazzle Project, raising more than £5,000 per annum for the programme, which aims to create equality of opportunity in the dance and electronic music scene in Glasgow and beyond through skills workshops. Delivered in partnership with The Sound Lab, the Dazzle Project provides six weeks of introductory-level tuition, aimed at breaking down barriers for individuals who wouldn’t otherwise get the opportunity. With touring DJs, producers and guest speakers from across the industry, addressing topics such as securing DJ residencies, the role of club nights, music communities and local radio, gender barriers, marketing, label management and many others. By the end of the six weeks, the aim is to provide participants with the means to articulate their taste through DJing and provide the early, necessary information and skills to begin exploring their own electronic music journey. The broad aim of the Dazzle Project is to contribute to structural change in the music industry and improve the representation of marginalised groups in Scotland. Sub Club, Managing Director, Mike Grieve said: “With a long-standing ambition to have our own lager in the club, and having worked closely with Brewgooder over the last couple of years, it makes perfect sense for us to align our brands with this project as we share the common ethos of adding positive purpose to our commercial activities. “The Dazzle Project is still in its infancy but already from the first exploratory series of workshops we have seen real-life success with participants going on to do paid gigs and set up their own events. The additional funding this great new lager will provide will help bring more bright new talent to the fore, and we are really excited to get started – and as an added bonus, the new Subbie lager looks and tastes fantastic!” Brewgooder co-founder James Hughes said: “Having worked with the Sub Club team for a couple years now, there has always been alignment of ethos and values. So when we learned about their Dazzle Project, we saw an obvious opportunity to collaborate and produce not only a great looking and tasting product but also a house beer that will forever exist to enable better opportunities for others, which entirely aligns with the purpose we founded Brewgooder on back in 2016.” Paul Sullivan, Chair of The Sound Lab, said: “The Sound Lab exists to make access to music and creative opportunities accessible to everyone. We specialise in supporting young people who face multiple and enduring systemic, cultural, and financial barriers to accessing music. We want to make music available to everyone, not just a privileged few. Every year, through our free, expert tuition and mentoring, we support hundreds of young people to gain vital skills and opportunities which they may otherwise be prevented from accessing. “We are delighted to be part of the Dazzle Project and supporting equitable access to the electronic music industry. Sub Club have been fantastic partners and it’s so important that Scotland’s most famous music venue is living true to the ethos of supporting underground music. Dazzle is the perfect vehicle for this and we are so excited to be part of its next stage.” The post Glasgow Sub Club Dazzle Lager – made for dancing in collaboration with Brewgooder appeared first on Decoded Magazine.

Moore Kismet Channels State of Mind Into Sound With New Single, "Overthinking Out Loud"
Moore Kismet's "Overthinking Out Loud" is a raw, honest glimpse into the mind of an artist unafraid to confront their inner demons and share that vulnerability with the world. With their latest release, the EDM.com Class of 2021 inductee has once again pushed the boundaries of their artistic expression. As Kismet continues to rise, their willingness to tackle difficult emotions and share their journey through dance music sets them apart. Out now via UKF, "Overthinking Out Loud" is a product of Kismet's exploration of their mental health and self-doubt, wrapped in a meticulously crafted soundscape. The vibrant track is a candid explication, Kismet says, of the tempestuous nature of their mind on any given day. "'Overthinking Out Loud' is a song about my mind and the onslaught of anxious, depressive, and otherwise random thoughts that run through my mind about what people's perceptions of me are, if it's worth it to continue pursuing music as a career, and if I should even keep living my life," Kismet said. "I wanted to write a song that encapsulated these feelings and put them into sound." Kismet's latest contribution to the UKF catalogue comes amid the label's landmark 15 year anniversary. Johannes Brecht releases ‘Call Me Monday’
Electronic music producer Johannes Brecht is getting back to his jazz beginnings on his forthcoming album Disparaître. After making a name for himself over the last decade as part of the Diynamic Music family, touring alongside acts like Solomun and Stimming, Brecht is now revisiting his origins in jazz with a new experimental album merging electronic and acoustic sounds. For Disparaître, due out June 28th, Brecht has reunited with his old jazz ensemble featuring Antonio Farris on keys and Matteo Capreoli on acoustic guitar. The trio first came together 15 years ago in Stuttgart, bonding over their shared love of jazz and performing weekly gigs at local venues. Though they went their separate ways for many years, with Brecht becoming an acclaimed electronic artist, something drew him back to reconnect with his former bandmates. The new song, Call Me Monday The latest single “Call Me Monday” is a tantalizing preview of the album’s genre-blurring sound. A pulsing techno beat anchors the track, while organic instrumentation dances around it in an improvisatory fashion. The acoustic and electronic elements converse and react to each other, capturing the energy and spontaneity of a live jazz group. The track is extremely playable live, I can imagine a really energetic set with it – Brecht said about the crossover appeal of “Call Me Monday.” On Disparaître, Brecht aims to let the music take the spotlight, with the individual personas disappearing into the collaborative ensemble. It’s a departure from his renowned solo work, but also a circular journey back to his jazz roots reinterpreted through the lens of his electronic career. The inventive merging of acoustic and programmed sounds promises to make Disparaître one of the summer’s most intriguing albums for fans of forward-thinking, genre-defying music. With “Call Me Monday,” Johannes Brecht is getting the reunion band back together and embarking on an exciting new creative path. Authentically Proud: Steven Braines
At UKF, we believe that marking Pride Month in the most authentic way means amplifying the voices of those within the LGBTQIA+ community. This year, we asked members how this heritage moment should be honoured and celebrated. By sharing their insights and experiences, we aim to foster understanding, solidarity, and a renewed commitment to equality. Through these conversations, we aim to highlight the importance of Pride and inspire our readers to support LGBTQIA+ rights not just during June, but all year round. In this interview, we dive into why marking heritage moments like Pride Month is crucial, exploring the significance of visibility, community, and ongoing activism. We also discuss how brands, artists, promoters, and labels can meaningfully support the LGBTQIA+ community. From amplifying queer voices and fostering inclusivity in line-ups to ensuring year-round representation and standing against prejudice, the insights shared offer a blueprint for genuine allyship. Join us as we listen to these vital perspectives and learn how we can all contribute to a more inclusive and celebratory world. Today we spoke to Steven Braines the CEO of The Weird & The Wonderful and HE.SHE.THEY. Is it important to mark heritage moments such as Pride Month and why? Yes, I believe it is very important to mark heritage moments like Pride Month. We’ve come a long way in the UK and globally but there’s still further to go. Like, banning conversion therapy and not trying to vilify trans/nb people as the Tory government and others have done to distract from their own failings. There are also a lot of places around the world that aren’t tolerant. The number of places my boyfriend and I can’t go because same-sex activity is criminalised is 64 and in 9 it’s punishable by death. We march for those who can’t and give them hope that they can and will one day be free too. Even in many cities in the UK, it feels unsafe to walk down the street hand in hand with your queer partner or kiss them whereas for straight couples it would never cross their mind. Just remember LGBTQIA+ don’t want more rights than anyone else just the same. Often I’m the only queer person in a room from a family gathering, or work, or wherever and being not the minority for once can feel liberating in itself where many of us grow up saddled with shame and don’t come out immediately, some never do. I know it pisses some people off – “Why should they have a Pride?” but trust me, if the world was upside down and straight people went through this stuff, and 95% of characters in movies, adverts, and on tv were LGBTQIA+, if the majority of people who made the laws that govern you were LGBTQIA+, if you were also the only straight person all the time in a room, and if you couldn’t go to a lot of the world then you’d probably want to celebrate yourself too. The amount of homophobia and transphobia ramps up in Pride Month, it’s insane but I refuse to be a coward. I first went to gay clubs with my straight mates because I didn’t have queer friends so I also, personally, am more than happy to see allies at Pride because if there weren’t I wouldn’t have been there myself. It’s also important to remember those who have fought for us to get here and honour them and all the people who never got to enjoy the freedoms that we did. Stonewall was a turning point but it’s also important to recognise the efforts of others who fought for rights before that too. It’s also important when looking at history and seeing times when it was legal and then illegal again to be queer etc or being trans was then wasn’t recognised and accepted that rights can be taken away far more easily than they are won. So we can’t rest. How would you like to see brands (artists, promoters, labels) marking Pride Month? By handing the mic over it’s LGBTQIA+ workers but also doing stuff outside of Pride too. That’s what most people will tell you. We see brands that only support in June and then fuck off again. I do think it’s important to see businesses, and allies supporting LGBTQIA+ rights because it normalises it and that’s important. A lot of my idols were and are straight of course so them saying it’s alright to be who you are and that you’re valid and loved takes away a lot of shame. I want labels to sign LGBTIQIA+ artists and promoters to put them on line ups all year round. Do a queer remix package in January because why not. Remember there are queer and trans black people so in black history month remember them too. Marking Pride Month is important for several reasons. Firstly, it honours the long and often difficult struggle for LGBTQIA+ equality, from the Stonewall Riots to the fight for marriage equality and beyond. It’s a way to remember those who fought tirelessly for the rights we enjoy today. Secondly, Pride fosters a sense of community, belonging and support for LGBTQIA+ individuals who may face stigma, rejection or isolation in their daily lives. Thirdly, the visibility of Pride Month helps to educate the broader public, dispel stereotypes and prejudice, and promote greater understanding and acceptance of LGBTQIA+ people. Finally, marking Pride Month is a reminder that the work of building a fully inclusive society is ongoing and that we all have a role to play in creating a world where everyone can thrive as their authentic selves. I think in genres where there is the least LGBTQIA+ visibility and/or where homophobia & transphobia exist it’s even more vital for allies to speak up in this way. It’s also nice for artists to collaborate with LGBTQIA+ artists to raise their visibility. Promoters of festivals could have a room/stage that is LGTBQIA+ skewed- that doesn’t mean that’s the only place to see LGBTQIA+ artists they should have mainstage representation too! Also, have uncomfortable conversations, post stuff the algorithm might not like, that might cost you some streams, have an opinion and take a stand. Do you really need a bigot’s money that badly not to? What would you like to see brands doing to support the queer bass music community? To support the queer bass music community specifically, I’d love to see brands; booking and promoting more queer and trans artists, especially BIPOC female & trans/nb talent as they are the ones often booked least. You can’t become a ticket pull or a star if no one ever signs you or books you first. There’s talent there- no one is saying book someone untalented. If you don’t know where that talent is google it. Ask your queer mates – if you don’t have any queer mates – maybe ask yourself why you don’t? At our events for HE.SHE.THEY. we put up posters that include things like NO HOMOPHOBIA, NO TRANSPHOBIA, NO RACISM so people know what is not tolerated in a space in real life or online. Also, brands can celebrate the legacy and artistry of queer bass music pioneers. Any great resources you know of? Some excellent resources for learning more and getting involved: – The Queer Nightlife Fund: https://queernight.life/ – Stonewall Community Foundation: https://stonewallfoundation.org/ – GLAAD: https://www.glaad.org/ – Gendered Intelligence – https://genderedintelligence.co.uk Anything else you’d like to add? I’d just emphasize that supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, in bass music and beyond, is a year-round responsibility. While Pride Month is an important time for celebration and visibility, the work of building equity and inclusion is ongoing. We all have a part to play in uplifting queer voices, and challenging oppression in all forms like misogyny, racism, etc, normally you find if someone is homophobic they have other prejudices too. We all have a part to play in creating a bass scene where everyone can feel seen, safe and valued. Whether you’re an artist, a promoter, a label or a raver, look for ways to support the LGBTQIA+ community in your corner of the scene. Together, we can make bass a welcoming home for all.

Ren Returns To The Stage After 4 Years With ‘Asylum’ Show At Secret Garden Party
The Secret Garden Party announced Ren’s return with an exclusive show titled ‘Asylum’. This performance will delve further into the narratives derived from his number one album and lead track ‘Sick Boi’. The showcase is set to take centre stage at this year’s festival, produced and created by Ren Gill & Secret Garden Party. This is set to be a one of a kind and an unmissable spectacle that’s already earmarked to become one of 2024’s key events. Leaning into his life journey and finding beauty in the bleakest of situations, Ren spent years bed-ridden with illness. It was from there he found new light leading towards a brighter future. Leveraging this experience, Ren began to write and create more. In 2023 he positioned number one in the UK charts with ‘Sick Boi’, a self-produced and released album. This unique achievement that doesn’t happen very often in today’s industry. The ‘Asylum’ show represents two sides of a coin, depicting the asylum Ren experienced first hand through his illness and the failure of the inherent medical system. In true artistic nature this has been transmuted into giving Asylum; a safe haven for others, in particular other creatives. ‘Asylum’ is not the first collaboration between Ren and the Secret Garden Party. They worked together on ‘Money Games pt 3’, with SGP (and the Head Gardener’s wife) working as the producers, which successfully culminated in Best Music Video, Best Concept and Best Director at the London Music Video Awards recently. As well as scooping three more awards at The International Music Video Awards. This provides a clear insight into the level of sheer creativity and quality that these two entities and proud independent forces generate when put together. SGP founder Fred Fellowes comments on Ren – “I can safely say that in over twenty years of the Garden Party I have never seen or heard the equal; I am so excited to be creating this show with someone I genuinely believe is one of the most talented human beings of our generation.” Saturday night will feature a state of the art light and pyrotechnics show about the current state of the music industry, aptly named That’s ‘Showbiz’, Baby. Designed by the Head Gardener and Mixsonix, with production by Acme, Immersive International and Celestial who collectively made history providing the UK’s first ever festival multimedia drone show at Secret Garden Party last year. ‘Asylum’ & ‘That’s ‘Showbiz’, Baby’ is set to shine a prominent light on the extensive corruption and corporate control that creatives often face within the music industry. Ren was originally a busker on the streets of Brighton and remains the epitome of independent music and DIY culture. This theme further amplifies SGP’s recent news that they will forego big-name headliners for their ‘Roots’ 2024 edition. Joining the Chai Wallah’s ‘Drop a headliner’ campaign, in support of grassroots artists and spearheading a reactive change across the industry. Albeit a major name for his collective awards, Ren is openly an innovator and champion of artistic independence, and the perfect ambassador for the new wave of artists cutting through. Colombe Flint, SGP General Manager comments – “Asylum is a true collaboration of independent talent and grass roots artists. The message Asylum sends is extremely important and perfectly aligns with our values and with what we are trying to achieve with Roots.” This is set to be Ren’s first performance in four years and he will be joining a diverse line up including Le Boom, Chinchilla, Monster Florence, Brittany Davis, Angélica Garcia and Uche Yara along with collectives like Chai Wallahs, Save Our Scene, Parable, Dubtendo and Noirganica, hosting dedicated venues to highlight and activate grassroots live music throughout SGP 2024. As an incubator and creatively inspired platform, Secret Garden Party has continuously showcased cutting-edge acts across their cumulative 20+ years in operation. July will see them take one step further, by hosting the first ever live music stage to record production and mastering for grassroots artists during the event. The mainstage is set to transform into a live recording arena which will allow artists the opportunity to create, then release a track free of charge post festival. Recent news has highlighted the impacts of corporate monopolies like Live Nation and Ticketmaster in the USA are amplifying the global issues across the industry worldwide, including the UK. With more than 100 festivals presently in danger of shutting down in 2024 already, and reports that show 16% of grassroots music venues have closed in the past year alone, shows that this troubling trend threatens the UK’s rich and diverse music scene as it currently stands. By fostering independent, artistic freedom and entertainment creativity, Secret Garden Party aims to maintain its status as a leader in musical innovation and help sustain the future growth for independent festivals and events in the UK. Make a stand for the future of the UK music scene, embrace creativity and ensure our cultural heritage remains fiercely vibrant and independent. ‘Can’t Stop’, Won’t Stop: Solomun’s Infectious New Track
In a rather explosive showcase of talent, Solomun graces us once again with a track that pushes the boundaries of Dance music. The German-Bosnian DJ and producer presents us his newest single ‘Can’t Stop’ on Running Back Records. It truly is a masterful blend of dark synthwaves, analogs with an extremely futuristic undertone and somehow reletable concept. Can’t Stop The ‘Ocean’ producer expressed that the newest track is the first track of his upcoming ep of the same name. The captivating element of this track is how much it resembles of the Tron Movies soundtracks. Realistically, Daft Punk would be extremely proud. Furthermore, the song posseses masterful vocals that boost the melodies. You will feel unstoppable while you’re riding down the freeway to the function. The inspiration of ‘this track ‘Can’t Stop’ came out of a drive after dinner with long time friend Gerd Janson. As a result, we received this phenomenal track that will make all the dancefloors succumb to it. If you can’t catch Solomun in his legendary Residency +1 at Pacha Ibiza, or any of his European Tour dates, catch up with ‘Can’t Stop’, as we wilfully await for the new EP, releasing in early July. Scranton International (AVP) is the closest at only 35 miles from the venue. Flights to Scranton are relatively affordable, ranging from as low as $60 and reaching as high as $400. If you need to fly into a bigger airport, Newark Liberty International (EWR) and Philadelphia International (PHL) are your next best bets. Each is about 100 miles away from the festival's grounds, with flights averaging in the mid-$200s for a roundtrip. Depending on from where you’re leaving, you might even get lucky and find one for under $100—just make sure you get enough baggage for all your fun festival-wear. Once you land, take advantage of one of Elements’ shuttles as an easy and hassle free way to get to and from the festival. Great for groups of 10 people or more, they allow you to unlock priority camping perks and your own dedicated space. Your theme camp will be divided into one of three different "villages": Fire, Water and Air, each of which express creativity, authenticity and gift-giving. Fire Village has experiential camps where people build and provide sound or art, workshops and wellness. Water Village is for groups who want to decorate their camp to the nines or plan a squad outfit and express themselves. Air Village is for big groups looking to chill and enjoy the perks of Vibe Village. Jamal Eid Elements Festival AccommodationsYour next key decision is where you want to stay during the festival. The most economical option is a 10x10 camping space for $10. If you end up driving, don’t forget to pick up a Parking Pass, sold separately and ranging from $59 to $189. Beyond a simple camping spot, you could opt for an easier situation of a two-person preset tent for $449 or a two-person glamping tent for $1599. If you want a more luxurious situation, spring for a pre-set RV starting at $3299 (sleeps up to five) or even a room at partnered resorts starting at $1299 (sleeps up to four). All-InAll said and done, you're looking at a four-day getaway for just north of $1,000. To put that into perspective, an average three-day vacation in 2023 costs $1,389.09, according to Forbes. And that's including a stay at a mid-range hotel—no tickets to music or live artistic experiences included. Regenerative Raving: Learning How to Optimize the Human Experience at the 2024 Biohacking Conference
If you've ever been to a conference, you know that the days are painfully long, the rooms are lackluster and there's an overload of redundant information. Biohacking Conference, however, doesn't fit that bill. Presented from May 30th to June 1st by Bulletproof Coffee founder Dave Asprey, who is revered as the "father of biohacking," the conference united thousands in Dallas to explore the depths of their own longevity and human optimization. What is biohacking, exactly?"Biohacking is about taking control of your own biology, using science, data and technology to upgrade your health and performance," Asprey explained matter-of-factly. While "biohacking" may seem like a vague buzzword these days, it carries much more weight than one. Its underlying goal is to maximize the human experience by implementing long-term practices which, over time, yield positive results for our overall wellbeing—or, as Asprey puts it, "to become the CEOs" of our own health. Whether you're far along on your wellness journey—you wear blue light glasses, cold-plunge, utilize feedback technology—or you're new to the biohacking movement, there's a lot to learn. View the original article to see embedded media. How does biohacking relate to raving?Take a second to think about the last EDM show or festival you attended. Every event includes an abundance of lights, sounds and movement all melding into a breakneck, highly stimulating experience. Opting to add stimulants or depressors—as so many ravers often do—makes for a potentially straining evening on your system, leaving you depleted long-term. But that doesn't have to be the case. You can biohack all of the above. Lights and SoundsWhether you're sweating the night away at an underground warehouse party or raving under the electric sky of the EDC Las Vegas festival, light and sound are in excess at electronic dance music events. While you may enjoy the barrage of lasers cascading across your retinas and the bass drops rattling you to your core, exposure to these stimuli for prolonged periods of time can cause irreversible damage to your eyes and ears. But there's a simple hack for that. Human ConnectionHow does one optimize human connection while raving? To start with, energetics are everything. If you're being negative, it's more likely than not you'll experience negative interactions. Or let's say you're a highly-stimulated person by default. Large crowds and an excess of energy in the festival space can be overwhelming. Biohacking offers strategies to shift these frequencies. View the original article to see embedded media. Stimulants and DepressorsLast, but certainly not least, let's talk stimulants and depressors. While alcohol and substances have long been inextricably linked with the EDM scene, consumption often results in suboptimal long-term affects even though they seem desirable in the moment. During an informative talk dubbed "The Sober Curious Revolution: Redefining the Art of Sobriety with Clarigenics and Non-Alcoholic Rituals," Cameron George explained that whenever we choose to alter our state, we are relieving ourselves in the interim but causing negative effects to fester and take shape later on. George likened it to "putting yourself into debt." Not only is partying in that manner expensive, but it's also harmful to your body and unsustainable. It's a means of altering your emotional and mental state by masking. Hacks for Regenerative RavingDo you want to rave 'til the grave like this woman? View the original article to see embedded media. Biohacking for ravers (of any age) is all about making conscious decisions that align you with who you strive to be in the long-term so you don't succumb to short-term pleasures, which result in long-term pain both physically and mentally. Hack: Lights and SoundsWhen it comes to combating the effects of an excess of lights and sounds, there are simple solutions. Whenever you attend an event with loud and potentially damaging music, just use ear protection. A study conducted by EDM.com last year indicated that 49% of concert attendees do not use ear protection at shows; it's a simple but vital hack to prolong your hearing. And to protect yourself from lights, simply bring a pair of shades. Hack: Human ConnectionAt a music festival, the potential for human connection is literally all around you. If you're in a negative state of mind as mentioned above, there are practices you can adopt to shift your mental state naturally. One is mindfulness. Look around you and take in where you are, notice that your life indeed doesn't suck, then express sincere gratitude. If you require more of a physical tool to help balance your energy and boost performance, Leela Quantum Tech assists in optimizing energy levels. The WAVwatch is another unique way to shift your ability to connect, as this device biohacks our internal state using frequencies. If you're feeling overstimulated, one simple yet effective solution is to breathe. Taking full, deep breaths will help regulate your system and can bring you back to a calmed state. You can also use essential oils such as lavender and ylang-ylang to soothe the senses. Meditation is another overlooked hack for optimizing your ability to connect. During his talk at the Biohacking Conference, Dr. Joe Dispenza stated that "meditation means to be familiar with." By making space between your thoughts, you become familiar with your sense of self and connect better with others too. View the original article to see embedded media. Hack: Stimulants and Depressors"We are drawn to altered states of consciousness as a means to seek safety, clarity, pleasure and meaning in our lives," George explained. All things considered, it's not our fault that we've been programmed to believe that after a long day of work, we deserve a beer or a glass of wine. And at social gatherings, we drink because it helps us connect. But is that really true? After all of those drinks, is that really you? Even chart-topping artists such as Sophie Hawley-Weld, one half of the Grammy-nominated duo Sofi Tukker, speak openly about sobriety. In a conversation about their launch of Novo Fogo, a non-alcoholic Cachaça brand, she said she believes most people would be better off consuming less alcohol or knowing that they don't have to drink. "Some people won't go to the concert because they're like, 'Well, I don't want to drink tonight,'" Hawley-Weld said. "Figure out how to enjoy it without the alcohol... that will unlock a whole other part of yourself." View the original article to see embedded media. As you continue down the health and wellness path, you may also find a shift in the types of shows you choose to attend. Did you know there are substance-free events that feel like a rave, but wherein everyone is clear-minded? These often are devoid cellphones as well, ensuring all in attendance are fully present. Following the Biohacking Conference, EDM.com caught up with Pavel Stuchlik, a conscious DJ, music producer and breathwork instructor at the helm of his own spiritual wellness events company, NOA|AON, which produces transformational retreats around the globe. "What we are doing is providing an alternative route for those who are done with that [drug-centered] way of [raving]," said Stuchlik, who instead prefers to provide "a way to still socialize and experience the love for music, but without all of the side effects." View the original article to see embedded media. There are many ways to alter your state of consciousness that don't involve indulging in harmful substances. Strategies for hyper-sobriety include Clarigenic Elixers, Brain and Body Optimization, Mindfulness and Neural Retraining, Health-Centric Human Connection, Creative Expression and Goal-Oriented Challenges. Implementing these hacks into your raving regime will ensure you are regenerating and not depleting with each imminent event. Asprey's annual Biohacking Conference returns May 28-30, 2025 in Austin, Texas. If you're interested in learning more about the summit and its namesake, navigate here. It’s Officially Summer 2024 With Lane 8’s Mixtape Arrival
It’s that time again for Lane 8’s highly anticipated mixtapes, and out today is his Summer 2024 Mixtape. This highly anticipated release is a rare treat, perfectly timed to align with the current season change. Get ready for the magical vibes of the upcoming summer solstice with an exciting three-hour mixtape. Summer 2024 Mixtape ID 1 Spanning over a beautiful 3-hour playtime containing 48 tracks and 16 unreleased IDs. Obviously I need a whole subheading for ID 1 – showcases my excitement. Do you recognize the first ID, from any of the Maestro Lane 8’s live performances this year? It goes, “Wake up where you are!” I first heard this track at his Igloofest set in Montreal. If you happened to be at the San Diego Summer Gatherings you’d have heard Daniel throw this in his set as well. This ID has the tell signs of a perfect new collaboration with our beloved Kasablanca boys. Part of Kasablanca’s rumored album, or will it finally be included in Lane 8’s next album? Fans eagerly await a new album since Brightest Lights is four and a half years old. It’s long overdue! Daniel has been relatively quiet this year, focusing on his Summer Gatherings show and various festivals. One can’t help but hope that his silence means he’s been crafting some truly spectacular music for us in the studio. A sneak peak below of ID 1 from Igloofest for all my lovely readers! All Other IDs + Tracks The mixtape features tracks from TNH artists such as EMBRZ, Rinzen, Paradoks, OCULA, Paris, and Otherwish. There are also a couple of unreleased remixes, including Sultan & Shepard’s ‘All I Know’ from their remixed album Endless Dawn. An unreleased remix of Bon Iver’s ‘22 (OVER S∞∞N)’ by OLING really impressed me. There are 16 amazing new IDs. I particularly noticed OCULA’s presence in ID 4 and 6. And of course, how can Daniel forget to include Massane’s upcoming EP? Listen to ID 9, 10, and 13 – they could be part of his upcoming Visage 7 series! I can’t seem to figure out the mystery behind ID 16, so if anyone does, please let me know as I can’t stop hitting the replay button on that track. The mix also features new tunes from Simon Doty, My Friend, Stella Bossi, Nox Vahn, Tinlicker, Christian Löffler, and many others. It’s already noon here in Toronto, and I’ve already enjoyed this mixtape twice. This Summer 2024 mixtape is all set to be the soundtrack for the next few months. Be sure to stream it on your favorite platform and share how much you love it. Stay tuned to EDMTunes for all your dance music updates! Getting to Know Sennheiser's Futuristic 490 Pro Plus Headphones
Mostly anyone who makes music would agree: a good set of headphones can be a secret weapon. In the case of the 490 Pro Plus Headphones from Sennheiser, they have a healthy price tag of $450 USD and a tidal wave of potential. Whether it's for mixing full length albums or experimenting with sounds in the formative stages of a new track, the price becomes easily justified when considering what the 490 Pro Plus Headphones are capable of. This sounds like a lot of praise, but bear in mind they’re currently garnering plaudits from other crowds outside the music industry where quality audio is valued too. On Reddit, for instance, whole threads are dedicated to the way Sennheiser's product is a game-changer for the gaming community. "If you compare today’s music productions with that of 10, 20 years ago, you will notice how the massively increased computing power and complex parameter automation have changed the way in which music is made," Sennheiser's Category Market Manager, Jimmy Landry, said in a recent press release. "In every genre, engineers and music creators are continuously pushing boundaries, creating extremely complex mixes that can be prone to so-called 'audio blind spots.'" "Mixes can be crowded and muddy, with too many instruments sitting at the same position and their frequencies competing. For the engineer or musician, it becomes difficult to hear each individual instrument or voice distinctly. This goes to show the importance of a good pair of studio headphones." When we wanted to learn how the 490 Pro Plus would suit the creation process of dance music in a home studio, EDM.com decided to put the product to the test. We spent more than 1,000 hours using these and other headphones over the last month. In the process, we succeeded in identifying three distinctions that starkly separated the 490 Pro Plus from its peers. Fit for the long runThe biggest superpower we found in Sennheiser’s 490 Pro Plus was its ability to stay light and velvety on the ears even after hours and hours of turning knobs and pressing buttons. Headphones typically become increasingly uncomfortable the longer you wear them, but the 490s grip and breathe in balanced homeostasis, enabling the wearer to press on in the studio when the creative juices get flowing. Sennheiser Muffs that make a differenceOne of the first things that proved a ton of thought went into the 490 Pro Plus was the two types of muffs that come with the unit. At first it seemed like one was superfluous, but upon closer inspection there was so much more to think about. One was velour and the other fabric. The velour offers a softer, matted sound, which is ideal for holistic judgements and live instruments—a massive advantage in conservative home studios that do a lot of producing or mastering. The fabric set of muffs, on the other hand, produce a crispier, flatter sound that’s advantageous for mixing. For producing any sort of electronic dance music, these were indispensable, especially for the producer on-the-go. Luckily, it all packed up together nicely in the same case. Spacial readyPerhaps further proof that for audio professionals at Sennheiser are edging an industry zenith, the 490 Pro Plus is calibrated for 3D sound models and audio production for augmented reality. Every set comes with a free license for the DearVR MIX-SE Plugin from Dear Reality. It essentially transmutes a DAW in a virtual mixing format by moving around the acoustics of the sounds to match the calibrations of multi-million dollar mixing studios. While easy to overlook, or say "I'd never use that though…" the spacial readiness of the product and software like this emphasize Sennheiser’s superiority, especially when compared to other high-end headphones on the market today. ADE 2024 sees DGTL return to its renowned home at the iconic NDSM Warehouse
DGTL opens its ADE weekend with Caribou, performing their first Dutch live show in two years. The infectious energy and unique blend of alternative electronica, indie rock and a touch of jazz have made the live band around Dan Snaith high-profile. The Canadian proved earlier this year that Caribou also carries a raw sting, dropping the unadulterated club track “Honey” to widespread critical acclaim. That edge alone promises to make Caribou’s DGTL ADE show an unforgettable experience. Caribou will be followed by an evening of melodic techno, with performances by Colyn, Jan Blomqvist (+drums), Mathame, Fideles, Nicky Elisabeth and Miss Monique, among others. On Friday, Nils Frahm will provide a magical evening, transforming the NDSM Warehouse into his own Berlin Funkhaus studio for 2.5 hours. Expect a unique, immersive show in which he blurs the boundaries between classical music and modern electronic sounds with virtuoso performances on piano and synthesizers. A unique, enchanting experience that will appeal to fans of electronic music and lovers of classical music alike. Saturday now traditionally revolves around The Blessed Madonna’s extravagant We Still Believe. In addition to The Blessed Madonna herself, Marie Davidson will perform live as will Kenny Dope, revered globally as one-half of the legendary house duo Masters at Work. Festival goers can expect sets from a stacked line-up of major talent, including from Avalon Emerson, Bashkka, and eccentric Berlin artist Patrick Mason, who recently showed off his energetic techno to a frenzied crowd on the Generator Stage at DGTL Festival. After the colourful daytime program, the night turns pitch black, with a harder program that seeks the ragged edges of industrial, hardstyle and raw techno. Brutalismus 3000 presents a mammoth takeover under the banner “Brutalismus 3000 Invites”, including Boys Noize, Rebekah, Salome, Lúcia Lu, DJ Hyperdrive, Raven and, of course, the celebrated duo itself. Last Sunday’s edition of DGTL ADE proved to be a golden one. For many, Gou Talk by Peggy Gou is the perfect way to end ADE in spectacular fashion. No surprise then that Gou Talk returns for a second time, with 2024’s edition featuring Peggy Gou, Bambounou, Marie Montexier, Anz, Salamanda, Spray and Brain de Palma, among others. Listen to ALLEYCVT's Mind-Melting Dubstep Track, "IN THE ALLEY"
After announcing a momentous headlining tour earlier in the month of June, ALLEYCVT is back with her latest mind-melting track, "IN THE ALLEY." She's added another crowd-pleaser to her growing catalog with "IN THE ALLEY," a track as heavy-hitting as it is anthemic. Her production is relentless from front to back, ebbing and flowing between screeching synths and wobbly, distorted basses. The dubstep banger displays her vast range, painting a vivid, bass-centric soundscape brimming with clever sound design. ALLEYCVT also shows out on the vocal, a rallying cry for her fans. It's something they're bound to latch onto during her live sets, a bona fide scream-along moment before the song's quaking drop.
