Listen to Mind Against's Uplifting Single, "Love Seeking"
Mind Against may be known for their eerie melodic techno sounds, but their new single, "Love Seeking," ventures into a new direction. The track is an ode to finding love on the dancefloor that channels the duo's roots through uplifting melodies. Brimming with elation, "Love Seeking" takes a starkly different approach to Mind Against's sound by swapping dark, thumping techno for sun-kissed disco beats, Mind Against could be turning a new page with the song, where euphoric vocals compliment a funky bassline infused with a heavy dose of groove. Mind Against's stunning new live show, ORBITAL, had already been captivating crowds across the globe prior to the release of "Love Seeking." The new single arrives under DJ Tennis' Life & Death banner, which acted as a propeller for the Italian duo's career over a decade ago when the imprint released "Avant." Mind Against are now preparing to drop their new EP of the same name on August 9th. The release will include extended and club mixes as well as a "Love Seeking" remix from Innervisions label bosses Âme and new visuals by Hugo Richel, who has worked with the likes of Balenciaga and Lil Nas X. Ride the Tides of Daily Bread's "Flash Flood II," a Cosmic Electro-Soul Soundscape
Ever wondered what a Daily Bread show is like? Those who haven't experienced one needn't wonder anymore after the producer dropped a new mixtape, "Flash Flood II," packed to the brim with loads of unreleased tracks and edits. Featured on the mixtape are 25 carefully-curated tracks by which many fans are able to identify samples and bits from his shows. This includes a remix of Tommy Richman's immensely popular "MILLION DOLLAR BABY" and flips of "Push it to the Limit" and "Two Hundred on the Dash." In many of the tape's tracks—if not all of them—listeners can easily identify Daily Bread's signature eerie and wobbling sounds, making them feel like they're in a vintage alien film. Although this concoction of tracks serves as a sequel to the first "Flash Flood" tape, he's stranger to the art of a mixtape. Daily Bread, whose real name is Rhett Whatley, ensures that none of his favorite old-school tracks ever stale with an arsenal of tapes going all the way back to 2014. Proudly hailing from Atlanta, Whatley has been honing his sound for nearly 10 years, starting first from his bedroom before releasing music under the St. Louis-based Philos Records banner. He resides there alongside artists with a similar penchant for cosmic, bass-laden beats such as Artifakts, Derlee and Late Night Radio, all of whom regularly appear in his mixes. Check out the full "Flash Flood II" mixtape below. View the original article to see embedded media. Seven Lions Blends Yearning With Euphoria In New Single, "Easy Lover"
Toying with the boundary between sorrow and exhilaration, Seven Lions' new single shows us that sometimes, the two can coexist. Out now via Casablanca Records, the bouncy four-on-the-floor track paints a picture of two individuals intertwined for a length of stunted time. Hilda's lustful vocals highlight the ease with which the two coalesce, having nothing and no one. At the same time, the lyrics illuminate the unfortunate side of that connection—that it's just as easy for them to detach from each other. Though for the time being, the two can dance as easy lovers, as the title suggests. "Easy Lover" will have your body warring with itself, trying to decide if it should glide through the clouds on the wings of Hilda's soaring vocals or stay grounded to Seven Lions' beat on a glittering dancefloor. Take a listen below. The new single follows the popular "Not Even Love," released by Seven Lions in March in collaboration with ILLENIUM and ASDIS. He's currently on tour, gearing up for a performance at Electric Forest tonight before appearances at North Coast and Insomniac's Lost In Dreams Festival, among others. Returning to Their Hardstyle Roots, Showtek Drop Long-Awaited Album "360 Blue"
Showtek, who many have come to know as an influential force in the electronic dance music community, are making a 360° turn back to their hardstyle roots after releasing their new album, 360 Blue. The album consists of 15 tracks, starting with "Dear Hardstyle" featuring Earl St. Clair, which they released late last year as a love letter to the genre in which they first released music back in 2003. Other collaborators on the new album include Zany, DJ Isaac, Sub Zero Project, Steve Aoki, Wildstylez and Radical Redemption, among others. "After taking a 12-year break from the genre, we have reignited it with new gained experience, a fresh approach, more mature but still Showtek," the duo gushed in a statement. "Melodic, anthemic, and with a message. This is high-energy." The talents of Showtek are twofold, with the Dutch brotherly duo of Wouter and Sjoerd Janssen having solidified themselves as mainstays of EDM for the last two decades. Popular collaborations like the immensely popular "Booyah" (with We Are Loud and Sonny Wilson) only scratch the surface. Though unique in its hardstyle makeup, 360 Blue continues Showtek's theme of naming albums after primary colors. Fans saw this pattern emerge with 2023's 360 Yellow, which was heavy on their big room house sound. The pair now plans to release 360 Red later this year. "After producing a variety of genres over the last 20 years, we felt it was time to bundle each genre into its own primary colour in the '360' project," they explained. '360' tells and captures our story of being more of an all-round act, having toured around the globe multiple times, and showing our love, passion, dedication, and appreciation for all the genres in the electronic music space. Being a DJ allows you to touch base with many different cultures worldwide; it's hard to just stick to one thing or genre." "As a human you grow, you develop, you broaden your horizon, or just look at things differently. It's important to transcend that into your music as well. Different music is made for different moments, and scenarios. Festivals, clubs, venues, sports stadiums, radio, beach, road trips, etc. We aim to showcase the wide range of passion for different styles under one umbrella." Kygo's Self-Titled Album Is a Journey Through Love, Loss and Euphoric Redemption: Listen
The warm embrace of Kygo's sound is back just in time for summer. His new self-titled album, out now to align with the summer solstice, is a classic Kygo record. He doesn't often break new ground, but instead infuses fresh vitality into his signature style and cultivates a familiar garden where his piano melodies shimmer like dewdrops on flowerbeds. Pulsing with an undercurrent of growth, this self-titled opus serves as both a mirror and a window reflecting Kygo's artistic journey. Each of its tracks is a world unto itself, yet they coalesce into a cohesive narrative of love, loss and euphoric redemption. Such is the case in the synthwave-inspired track "Surrender," where Kygo dials up the tempo and captures the exquisite surrender of falling completely—and hopelessly—for another. Here, Fred Well's lyrics confess a love so potent it feels like defeat. Elsewhere, fans of Kygo's signature sound will gravitate to "Me Before You," a vulnerable dance anthem that throbs with a desperate plea from English singer-songwriter Plested. Lush production offers a refuge from a shadowed past, each chord a frantic heartbeat clinging to a love that offers salvation. True to form, the rest of KYGO is speckled with high-profile collaborations. The Norwegian dance music superstar joined forces with Jonas Brothers, Julia Michaels, Ava Max and disco legend Nile Rodgers, among others, to bring it to life. He also included his fan-favorite remix of M83's "Wait," which released exclusively on SoundCloud back in March 2014. To celebrate the album's release, Kygo and his team recorded a special live performance on the Troll's Tongue, a cliff that juts out and overlooks Norway's stunning Ringedalsvatnet lake. A number of the album's collaborators appear in the video, including Sigrid, Zak Abel, HAYLA and Sandro Cavazza. Check out the video below and stream KYGO here. Listen to RÜFÜS DU SOL's First New Single in Three Years, "Music is Better"
RÜFÜS DU SOL, dance music's de facto architects of tender singalong moments, are back with a new single, "Music is Better." The track, which originally debuted during their Coachella 2024 performance, is their first new music since 2021's scintillating Surrender album. Penning a love letter to music's effect on infatuation, the Grammy-winning trio pick up where Stardust left off after releasing "Music Sounds Better With You" in 1998. A dreamscape where love and music intertwine, the house track's structure mimics the tension and release of a night out with a new flame. We're swept off our feet by an uplifting melody, blissfully unaware of impending heartache: "On the edge of a dream / You play me a song / Before I knew what you done," quavers lead singer Tyrone Lindqvist. But even in the face of potential disillusionment, the song celebrates the universal experience of music as a bonding force. Out now via Rose Avenue/Warner Records, the new single "offers a window into a new creative groove for the band," according to a press release. It's a solid addition to RÜFÜS DU SOL's catalog that will likely resonate with fans and newcomers alike, especially in live settings where its communal theme can truly come to life. Aazar and Capozzi Unveil Joint Alias, Vertigo, With Impassioned Debut Single "Hit My Heart"
In the vast expanse of dance music, where house meets the fragile strings of the heart, Aazar and Capozzi have woven a new narrative with Vertigo, their new collaborative alias. Unveiled alongside their mesmerizing debut single "Hit My Heart," Vertigo sought out the spellbinding voice of American Idol alum Makayla Phillips to help make it a reality. From a production standpoint, "Hit My Heart" is an auditory tour de force, seamlessly blending Capozzi’s bass house and techno sensibilities with Aazar’s evocative melodies. The artistic combination creates a dynamic tension that propels the track forward with relentless energy. Phillips' voice soars above this potent mix, delivering a performance that's both intensely passionate and heartbreakingly vulnerable. Thematically, "Hit My Heart" delves deep into the throes of lovesickness and the delicate agony of a fragile heart. Zedd Defies the Hourglass in Stunning New Single, "Out of Time"
Zedd is back with a new single, "Out of Time," a nostalgic electro anthem begging to break the cycle. "Out of Time" captures the bittersweet essence of ephemerality, urging us to seize the moment before it dissolves into the ether of past experiences. It's a dance anthem for the weary traveler, a reminder that even in the dizzying blur of life’s highs and lows, fleeting moments of clarity and connection can exist. The message is conveyed by a typically stunning vocal performance from Bea Miller, whose lyricism serves as a powerful reminder of our dance with temporality. Zedd's dynamic structure mirrors the emotional rollercoaster described in her lyrics, building to euphoric highs before pulling back to moments of introspection. "Out of Time" is the first single to release ahead of Telos, Zedd's first full-length album in nearly a decade, which is scheduled to release on August 30th. Blending nostalgia and novelty alike, it's a testament to his ability to craft songs that are not only dancefloor-ready, but also emotionally resonant. Layton Giordani is back, and this time he's bringing pure nocturnal energy straight to the dancefloor. With his new single, "Freaks At Night," the techno tastemaker aptly captures the essence of those unforgettable nights out. With dark, modulated pluck synths that weave in and out of powerful techno kicks, Giordani's latest is a DJ's secret weapon for the late night hours. Trentemøller drops ‘Dreamweavers’
Recently, the world got to hear the first new music from Copenhagen’s master of dream pop, Trentemøller, since 2022. “A Different Light” dropped on May 17th, showcasing a stunning blend of psychedelia, space rock, and folk. Additionally, a new full-length was announced: Dreamweaver will be available in September, on Friday the 13th, on Trentemøller’s own In My Room label. The second preview from the new album is the “Dreamweavers” single. Whereas “A Different Light” featured no drums, relying on a plucked nylon string guitar to provide rhythm, “Dreamweavers” finds its first footings with a soft percussive trot. It starts after what feels like a shortwave radio scan in search of the right chords, eventually dialling in a weightless voice. With the test roll of the song approved, the rest of the elements assemble into place with a grand, luxurious burst. It would be easy to ride this wave for eternity, but the third section of this micro suite develops into a push/pull relationship of arpeggio and woozy synth pads. Little by little, almost imperceptibly, subtle elements emerge, like a morning glory climbing a trellis, with buds emerging as it tracks along its winding path in the pre-dawn. Then, with a burst of sunlight, a thousand buds of melody bloom as the song reaches its climax. Eventually, with no foreshadowing, the tendrils wind around the radio’s capacitors and the song short-circuits. The music is the work of Trentemøller, while the vocal performance and abstract lyrics come courtesy of Iceland’s Disa, who has been in Trentemøller’s orbit since the Memoria tour, where she stunned audience members with her own reimagined versions of songs from the catalogue. Additionally, Disa contributed to 2022’s “Into The Silence,” as well as Trentemøller’s nod to his old friends The Raveonettes, a cover of their “Cops On Our Tail.” While the song has a melancholic feel that fans of his music are familiar with, “I also feel it’s got a hopeful element to it,” says Trentemøller. “It ponders love, connections, and intimacy. It’s not a sad song, even if there’s always an unavoidable feeling that relationships can be fleeting.” Stream / download here The post Trentemøller drops ‘Dreamweavers’ appeared first on Decoded Magazine.
