Kygo Shares Heartwarming Encounter With Terminally Ill Canine Twin at Music Festival
Over the weekend, Kygo's Palm Tree Festival became the backdrop for a particularly wholesome meeting—one between the globally acclaimed DJ and a terminally ill dog who shares his name. The Hamptons were buzzing this past weekend as Kygo's Palm Tree Festival delivered another unforgettable experience, featuring performances from Swedish House Mafia, Sofi Tukker and more. But amidst the spectacle, another tender moment was unfolding backstage. The story of a terminally ill dog named Kygo recently touched the hearts of thousands online, and the dog's owner, Ashley, had expressed a heartfelt wish for the husky mix to meet his namesake. Suddenly, the wish became a reality after Kygo the DJ invited Kygo the dog to Southampton for the festival. The meeting was a poignant reminder of the bond between humans and their furry companions. The Norwegian dance music superstar welcomed the dog with open arms, gifting him a Palm Tree Crew bandanna. The dog's owner reciprocated with a "Kygo Krew" hat and t-shirt featuring his face. Johannes Lovund The touching encounter was part of a whirlwind weekend for Kygo, who also celebrated the release of his self-titled album. From the synthwave-inspired "Surrender" to the vulnerable dance anthem "Me Before You," KYGO showcases the producer's evolution as an artist while staying true to the uplifting sound that his fans have come to adore. The heartwarming meet-and-greet was facilitated by The Dogist, a popular dog-centric Instagram account. Kygo the dog's story had first garnered attention on the platform, leading to a $10,000 donation from The Brady Hunter Foundation to assist his owner with treatment costs. "Hawk Tuah": Electronic Music Producers Turn Raunchy Viral Moment Into Remix Gold
It's 2024, when "15 minutes of fame" gets shorter and shorter with each asinine viral moment. And just when you thought the internet reached peak cringe, the "Hawk Tuah" girl emerges to remind us that there's always a new level to unlock. With the brain cells they have left, it seems the chronically online have already forgotten the woman seeking a man in finance in favor of Hailey Welch, who became an overnight internet sensation after a raunchy interview on the streets of Nashville. "What's one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?" a content creator asked Welch. "You gotta give him that 'hawk tuah' and spit on that thing, you get me?" she replied. She’s a keeper 😂#explore #reels #cmafest #cmafest2024 #interview #funny #viral #nashville pic.twitter.com/qDQYRn6Rvy — Tim & Dee TV (@timanddeetv) June 12, 2024 Welch's now-infamous catchphrase exploded on social media and led to countless memes with 24 hours, even infiltrating professional sports. MMA icon Conor McGregor posted in search of her identity and Philadelphia Phillies superstar Bryce Harper emulated her on the basepaths in celebration of hitting a double. The internet and all its morbid stupidity is a breeding ground for remix culture, so the electronic dance music community is naturally having a field day. And since social media's musical trends spread faster than shame at a strip club ATM, we've seen some hilarious results. BIJOU reworked Welch's—ahem—advice into a tech house banger. Pun intended. Tomorrowland Voted #1 Festival For The 4th Time as DJ Mag announces Top 100 Festivals 2024
Tomorrowland has been voted the World’s No. 1 Festival in the DJ Mag Top 100 Festivals poll 2024. Record-breaking numbers had their say in this year‘s poll — which opened on 1st May, and closed on 12th June — with the Belgian festival coming out on top for the fourth time, and a third consecutive year. After topping DJ Mag’s first ever Top 100 Festivals back in 2019, when the poll was voted for by top DJs, Tomorrowland returned to the No.1 spot in 2022 following the shift to a public vote for the first time. Last year, in 2023, the festival secured the triple, boasting a brand new stage and the return of its One World Radio station. Now, in 2024, the Belgian mega-festival has retained its crown once more: a testament to its continued commitment to pushing the boundaries of production and curation. Stretching across not just one, but two, jam-packed weekends each July, Tomorrowland brings together the biggest names in electronic music, alongside groundbreaking stage design and world-building concepts. At last year’s Adscendo event, more than 400,000 revellers celebrated love, music, and unity across 16 stages, and danced to the sounds of over 750 electronic music artists. Tomorrowland 2024 is shaping up to be equally spectacular, with over 800 artists — including headliners Armin van Buuren, Amelie Lens, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike — set to descend on the city of Boom next month. “Tomorrowland is a passion, a passion of over 200 people working every day to create the magic,” Debby Wilmsen, Tomorrowland’s press relations and internal communications lead, shared when finding out about the festival topping the poll again. “This year we will celebrate LIFE, the theme is a prequel of the Spirit of Life from 2016 [and a] brand new Main Stage will be introduced at the festival. Every year we try to offer a broad range of new talents, top international DJs, local artists, new stage hosts and special performances and back to backs. We try to represent all styles and sub-styles in electronic music.” With over 20 festivals cancelled, postponed or permanently dissolved ahead of 2024’s season, according to a report from the AIF, it’s never felt more important or timely to celebrate all that festivals both large and small bring to our lives through their celebration of music, dancing and togetherness. And, accordingly, a record-breaking number of votes were recorded in the DJ Mag Top 100 Festivals poll this year. North America was the continent that submitted the most votes, followed by Europe, Asia, South America, Oceania and Africa. In terms of countries, the USA recorded the most votes in 2024, followed by the UK, India, Thailand, Brazil, Italy, Germany, Romania, China (which recorded votes via a dedicated voting platform) and Belgium. The festivals that appear in 2024’s top 10 remain largely unchanged from last year’s poll, with EDC Las Vegas, Untold Festival and Creamfields all gaining ground to place within the top five. Kappa FuturFestival is also up four spots to place in the top 10 for the first time. Elsewhere, Terminal V climbs 33 places to No. 44 as this year’s highest climber, and Untold Dubai places at No. 45 as 2024’s highest new entry. As suggested in the votes delivered above, North America and Europe dominate the top 20, with only Sunburn Festival — the highest placing festival in Asia at No. 11 — appearing from outside those two continents. As the winner of this year’s poll, Tomorrowland, is also the highest placing festival in Europe, with EDC Las Vegas the highest in North America at No. 2, Creamfields Chile the highest in South America at No. 73, Beyond The Valley the highest festival in Oceania at No. 92, and Oasis the top placed festival in Africa at No. 99.

Released 18 Years Ago – Fedde le Grand – Put Your Hands Up For Detroit
Hard to believe that Fedde le Grand’s ‘Put Your Hands Up For Detroit’ turns 18 today. This was the debut single for le Grand as a Tech House and Progressive House producer. The track peaked at #4 on the Dutch Top 40 and had two versions: the original at 6:32 and the radio edit at 2:32. Listening to the track, ‘Put Your Hands Up For Detroit’, has a futuristic beat with a techno house vibe. The music video, set in the “near future, 2027,” tells a tale of fem-bots creating, testing, and bringing male androids to life. Released in 2006, this seemed like a distant future. The single went on to be Certified Gold in the UK, selling 400K copies, and won two awards: the 2007 MTV Australia Award for Best Dance Video and the 2007 International Dance Music Award for Best Underground Dance Track.

Sherm & Stund Drop House EP ‘Activate Reality’
Sherm is back with a brand-new EP called “Activate Reality,” which came out June 21 on Hood Politics and features his good friend and popular Canadian artist Stund. Sherm and Stund show off their studio skills on the first track of the EP, “Activate,” which has a lot of electric energy. Along with striking synth stabs and futuristic vocal samples, they make a rumbling groove that is hard to ignore. Activate Reality EP is a mix of old and new styles that are meant to get people moving on the dance floor.” I’m excited to finally share these songs with the world on Hood Politics with my brother SHERM. Both of them have a lot of drive. It’s always nice to get a new Hood Politics book. – Stund The last song on the EP is called “Activate Reality.” Its hypnotic melodies, cinematic synths, and ethereal, futuristic vocal line create a beautiful, dystopian experience for listeners. The “Activate Reality” EP is a collection of all the strange things that happen in the world. There were fusions of styles and sounds that came together in such a unique way that these tracks are almost devoid of genre. These songs have a lot of energy on their own, but when they’re all together, it’s really something special. It’s been great to work with Hood Poli LEGEND Stund. I’m really proud of this EP. It’s also my 20th release on Hood Politics! The world’s best record label. – Sherm Sherm and Olivia Mancuso, another podcaster and industry influencer from Chicago, just named the panelists for their Chicago Music Nexus event as well. DJ Lady D, Terry Hunter, Dani Deahl, and other Chicago stars are on this list. Chicago Music Nexus looks like it will be a one-of-a-kind event where music industry workers and artists can interact, network, and find new ways to grow like never before. In the short time he has been working, Sherm has established himself as a strong figure in Chicago and beyond. He started one of the biggest electronic music podcasts from scratch, called Sherm In The Booth. He also hosted the “Tech/House Boom in the US: What’s In It for You?” panel at ADE in 2023. His DJing and music skills have earned him bookings at high-profile events like Lollapalloza’s afterparty with Acraze and direct support for Armin Van Buuren, Steve Aoki, Zedd, and many more. Activate Reality is out now. The post Sherm & Stund Drop House EP ‘Activate Reality’ appeared first on The Groove Cartel.

Cheat Codes Unplugged: Stories from the Stage and Their Experience
Cheat Codes, the dynamic trio known for their infectious hits and energetic performances, recently took Bangkok by storm at the Together Festival. The festival, renowned for its eclectic lineup, featured some of the biggest names in the industry, and Cheat Codes were a standout act. Their music, characterized by catchy melodies and high-energy beats, has earned them a dedicated global fanbase. As they prepared to take the stage, we had the chance to sit down with the trio to delve into their musical journey, creative process, and what fans can expect from their live performances. From their humble beginnings as roommates with a shared passion for music to creating chart-topping hits and collaborating with industry giants, Cheat Codes’ story is one of dedication and innovation. Join us as we explore the world of Cheat Codes and discover the music and passion that drive this talented group. How did you come together to form Cheat Codes? What was the vision behind this? You know, we actually started as roommates. Kevin and I began making music together with the idea of doing DJ music. We just started doing writing sessions, all three of us together. We wrote our first song called “Visions.” The idea was like, “Oh, we could travel the world and make music, make big songs.” That was kind of what sparked the excitement for us. Your track “Sex” was a massive hit and brought you guys into the limelight. Can you tell us about the creation of the song and the impact it had on the world? Yeah, for sure. At the time, we were writing music every single day. We had spent seven hours on an idea that wasn’t working. After that, we decided to try one more and ended up writing “Sex” in about 30-45 minutes. Matt had the idea from the original hook of Salt-N-Pepa, and Kevi and I weren’t that familiar with it. It was cool to create without too many preconceived ideas. It just happened naturally, and sometimes working in that flow state without overthinking yields the best results. We were lucky with that one. Your music has evolved over the years. How do you decide which styles to incorporate into your tracks, and what mostly influences these decisions? A lot of it comes from the vocal and what type of vocal we think will fit. For example, we have a song called “Never Love You Again,” which has a house, soulful dance vibe. The vocal we got was from Little Big Town, and it inspired us to do a whole country album. Now, we’re doing a song with Jason Derulo, De la Ghetto, and Galantis. It has a Latin vibe, which inspired us to make a global dance track with Latin flavors. What’s your approach to choosing the artists you work with? For example, with Demi Lovato in the past? It’s always about who’s right for the song. With “No Promises,” we had a list of people we thought would be good, but Demi Lovato was our top choice. We were thrilled that she resonated with it and wanted to be part of it. It’s a process of thinking who would be best for the song, sending it to them, and sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t. Together Festival in Bangkok is renowned for its eclectic lineup. What are you most excited about for Together Festival, and how do you prepare your setlist for such a big event like this? We’re excited because it’s our first time in Thailand. It’s great to be part of a lineup with different styles, like Kayzo and Steve Angello. We don’t always get to play events with such a diverse lineup. We see Kayzo all the time back home, so it’s funny to be halfway across the world together. It’s a small world. What are some ways you keep your fans engaged and connected with your music and personal journeys? It’s all about interacting with people every day and giving our best in every show. We’re not the best at social media, but we try to give fans the best experience whenever they see us. What advice would you give to people starting out in the scene, as songwriters or performers? I often say this: try to do something unique that you’re passionate about. Don’t copy anyone else. If it feels unique to you, people will notice. Find a niche to stand out and be the first to create a new sound.

Book of the Month: Rick Rubin – The Creative Act: A Way of Being
Many famed music producers are known for a particular sound that has its day and then ages out. Rick Rubin is known for something else: creating a space where artists of all different genres and traditions can hone in on who they really are and what they offer. He has made a practice of helping people transcend their self-imposed expectations to reconnect with a state of innocence from which the surprising becomes inevitable. Over the years, as he has thought deeply about where creativity comes from and where it doesn’t, he has learned that being an artist isn’t about your specific output; it’s about your relationship to the world. Creativity has a place in everyone’s life, and everyone can make that place larger. In fact, there are a few more important responsibilities. The Creative Act is a beautiful and generous course of study that illuminates the path of the artist as a road we all can follow. It distils the wisdom gleaned from a lifetime’s work into a luminous reading experience that puts the power to create moments – and lifetimes – of exhilaration and transcendence within closer reach for all of us. Bridges For Music charity cycle ride returns to ADE
Non-profit organisation and record label Bridges For Music will return to ADE with their annual 500 KM charity cycle this October, continuing to incite social change through the power of music. Finding continued kinship at Amsterdam’s yearly event celebrating the strength of dance music’s unique community, the ride has proven to be the most highly anticipated charity cycle in the music industry with past participants including Richie Hawtin, Parallelle, Maga, Joris Voorn, Chris Lienbing, Pan-Pot, Juliet Fox, Jamiee, and more. Last year’s cycle brought together over 50 riders from different 15 countries to raise over 70K towards Bridges For Music’s mission to provide for under-serviced youth in South Africa. Powered by AlphaTheta and in partnership with ADE, all funds raised by the ride will help expand the capacity of Bridges’ programs by contributing to the construction of a new facility for younger kids in need. In addition, it will support the after-school program, which provides an essential space for children ages 8-18 to access creative education in music, dance and mindfulness. This year’s cycle will introduce a fresh challenge with a slightly updated route from London to Amsterdam. The 4-stage ride departs Sunday 13th October from the Resident Advisor HQ in Shoreditch and arrives at ADE Wednesday 16th October and will take riders through the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands. Jamie Kemp, Director of Toolroom Records summarises the impact of the cycle, “Simply put this is a life changing experience! I keep saying, I am not sure there is any other way I want to arrive at ADE…If you are thinking about doing it, just do it! You will be supported every km/mile/inch of the way.” The ride will save approximately 175kg of CO2 emissions that would ordinarily be produced for each flight from London to Amsterdam. This means that for each of the 50 riders, at least 8,750 kilograms of CO2 emissions will be saved. In return for supporting the cause and travelling to ADE with less environmental impact, those participating in the ride will receive an ADE Pro Pass, three nights accommodation in spa hotels along the route, tour guides and support, luggage transport, breakfast, lunch & dinner, energy snacks, and an official ADE jersey. Bikes can be returned to London in addition to a £1,500 entry fee paired with fundraising. Those who are unable to commit to the full duration of the cycle are welcome to join halfway or for one stage of the cycle tour. No prior cycling experience is required to complete the ride and those who don’t own their own bike can arrange for a rental. Sponsored entries are also available for companies who wish to enlist a team and your team logo will appear on the special ADE riders kit and coverage across the cycle as a team sponsor As always, the ride welcomes cyclists of various abilities and enthusiasm with participants organised into groups based on ability to cycle at around 30km/h avg, 26km/h avg, and 22 km/h avg with support vehicles, expert cycle guides, and more provided along the route. Demonstrating Bridges’ commitment to the highest level of safety and support, paramedics from the Tour De France were involved every step of the route last year with each group guided by professional cyclists with some on Team GB for the Olympics. Keleigh Batchelor, Marketing Manager, AlphaTheta EMEA shared, “It is our honour to sponsor the Bridges for Music cycle to ADE once again. Activities like this encourage participants to engage their physical and mental wellbeing – which can be very powerful and healing. Aligning these elements in dynamic group fosters a sense of community, raises awareness all while generating crucial funds for this incredibly transformative musical initiative. If you’ve ever been tempted, now is your chance, it will be the most fulfilling and exhilarating thing you will do this year!” To sign up, secure your spot and play a pivotal role in inciting meaningful social change, please visit www.adecycle.com. Label Spotlight: Memory Palace
Hi, Who are you? Memory Palace (Label Name) Tyler Coombs (Of The Trees) – Founder Jay Rogovin – General Manager Blake Coppelson – Label Manager Maya Nauriyal – Assistant Label Manager What’s your ethos? We strive to bring a higher standard of quality to the North American bass music scene and beyond, and to provide a platform for our artists to take creative risks and work with them to actualize conceptual releases and build worlds together. Tell us your origin story... I’ve had a lot of wonderful experiences working with labels throughout the years, but also a lot of not-so-wonderful experiences – and I think many of my peers would agree. I wanted to consolidate everything I have learned and apply it to my own approach while taking the opportunity to carve a new stylistic lane that I had always imagined and wanted to see in our scene. The concept for Memory Palace arose during the pandemic, when a lot of the music industry experienced a universal standstill, and all of that free time allowed me to zoom out and view everything from a nice safe distance. It wasn’t until last year that I was really able to start putting things into motion, having the support and team to bring everything to life. Where are you based? Tell us about your local scene. I’m currently based in Colorado and have been for the last 5 years. The scene here doesn’t need a whole lot of introduction; most would consider it the epicentre of bass music in the United States. I would certainly say most of my solo project’s growth snowballed after gaining a larger following in the region, and I’m hyped to be headlining two nights at Red Rocks this year – which is obviously a legendary venue. Do you have a specific sound or vibe? I wanted to be careful to avoid pigeonholing Memory Palace into a specific “sound” or genre. The biggest qualifier I look for when reviewing demos comes down to two specific factors; it has to be musically interesting and distinct amongst current trends of dance music – and to be exemplary of an artist’s ability to make all-around sonically remarkable compositions. I love the way electronic music sounds when it is polished and carefully crafted for sound systems, and I take that into consideration with every release. Do you have a regular artist roster? Nahh… Tell us about your A&R process… To qualify for demo submission, we typically request the artist sends us a vial their of blood to our compound and a bundle of their preferred herbs for the ceremonial burning. The listening room is unfortunately located in our headquarters deep within the Rocky Mountains, so it typically takes a few weeks for me to make the hike to the summit. What makes you different from other labels? Magic and Crystal Balls. What does it take to run a bass music label in 2024? I’ve been told it would be a massive undertaking, especially starting an artist-run label when I’m in the midst of a pretty busy schedule myself – but I think I wasn’t able to fully grasp that until we were already a few months into the initial rollout. It seems every step of the way is met with new challenges, especially when trying to break out of the more common methodologies for running an electronic label. The roadblocks never stop. That being said, I’m incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated and talented team alongside me, helping every step of the way – and sometimes that help is simply keeping me from losing my head from stress. I’m grateful that they’re down to dive in and take risks, meeting difficulties head-on; and we’re learning as we go. With every obstacle, the other side is waiting, and the reward of accomplishing something I’ve always wanted to do is unparalleled. What have you got coming up we should look out for? Our biggest objective at the moment is to move into larger-scale Memory Palace events. We’ve done a few festival stage takeovers and a pop-up event in Denver, but the goalposts keep moving. Now more than ever, I think a lot of people are looking to attend more intentional gatherings for music, which is exactly what we want to be doing. My dream is to eventually have the wherewithal to throw festivals in that sphere, with a large focus on fantastical engagement and immersion, activities outside of the typical party-forward environment of many events, and to build a super solid community over time. Mix of the Week – Marc DePulse
Marc DePulse · Marc DePulse @ Red Ruby, Bali/Indonesia (15.06.2024) This week we head to Bali with a live mix from Marc DePulse, recorded at Red Ruby Club. Leipzig/Germany-based artist Marcel Sterling alias Marc DePulse with over 25 years in the business, started to produce his music in the 1990s Marc went through a long journey to develop his signature sound with his typical handscript. Whoever sheds some tears while listening to music can relate to what Marc is trying to achieve. It has to be “music to remember” and make a big impact. And that could be a catching melody, a guitar bassline, rolling percussions or strong vocals. DePulse has already connected a lot of that love with his music. Either the music is for the dancefloor or for the heart. And that’s what Marc wants to tell us with his releases and podcasts: there is no box into which you must fit because you are free in your mind to do whatever you love. Being real, being authentic, being a full-time music lover. That means: going to bed and waking up with only music in your head. Marc has been established as a unique DJ by performing on the biggest international stages, DJing in over 40 countries worldwide. His productions led him to be the best-selling artist in Indie Dance music (Top #1 artist on Beatport in 2023). After appearances on major labels such as Diynamic, Einmusika, Katermukke, SINCOPAT or Parquet (in total over 500+ releases in the past 2 decades) Marc was releasing his third artist album “Together Alone” on Katermukke in 2022. In addition to his own productions, Marc is running the hyped imprint JEAHMON! ANNA Curates Global Underground’s GU46 – Lisbon
Global Underground proudly presents GU46 ANNA – Lisbon this week, where ANNA is the latest DJ to curate the prestigious compilation. Her dynamic soundscapes encompass multiple styles and genres making her perfect to encapsulate the effortless and vibrant nightlife of Lisbon. The city is chic and one of the coolest European destinations, so a top-notch soundtrack is expected. The mix comprises two CDs and contains all things ambient, house, techno, and everything in between. You’ll find music and remixes from BICEP, Daniel Avery, Mind Against, Bonobo & Jacques Greene. Additionally, get excited for Agents Of Time, George FitzGerald, Stephan Bodzin & Marc Romboy. Plus, don’t miss Rival Consoles, Yotto, Franky Wah, TSHA, Victor Ruiz, Wehbba, and herself. Check out the tracklist here. “I grew up near São Paulo, but I see myself as a citizen of the world. Most people know me as a techno artist, but since 2017 I’ve been releasing ambient music, and slowly working towards combining those two sides of myself. Lately, spirituality has had a big impact on the music I make and the way I present it. I’m learning to trust my intuition and prioritise spiritual growth, and that’s how I navigated this project. ANNA to Mixmag ANNA states that CD2 explores the harder side of her sound, and CD1 represents the soft, mellow, ambient side. Both of these CDs are true representations of her. GU46 ANNA – Lisbon is available now digitally or on a deluxe CD, 3 x 12″ vinyl, or collector’s edition. For purchase details, check out the link here. It is no surprise that ANNA gets to be this edition’s star. GU founder, Andy Horsfield, tells Mixmag that they’ve been huge fans of ANNA’s music and dynamic DJ sets for many years. GU46 Lisbon is the perfect setting for the next edition of the city series. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to build a project that fully displays the spectrum of my sound, with the energy rooted in Lisbon. It’s a city where I feel totally at home and at peace. [Not] just because it reminds me of Brazil, but because it has this unique energy that activates my spirit. Nowhere makes me feel as creative, inspired and fulfilled as Lisbon.” As she embraces her spirituality, she brings us Global Underground’s latest compilation. Listen below now. [WATCH] Charlotte de Witte’s NYC Pop Up Party
Last Friday, Charlotte de Witte took to Orchard Street, New York City and locked down the block outside EXTRA BUTTER for a set unlike any other. She pumped the one-hour guerilla-style performance full of adrenaline for a surprise live performance in the concrete jungle. As if that wasn’t enough, her impromptu appearance was the perfect way to celebrate her new single release ‘How You Move‘ from her Roar EP. From the beginning, Charlotte set the tone for her performance, opening with ‘Nitro Wordscape‘ by Wehbba. She follows with ‘Atom‘ by Sam Paganini and flows through with ‘Interconnection‘ by Enrico Sangiuliano. Dast’s ‘Parentesi‘ builds up the tension for the next round of sound. With two IDs yet to be identified and tracks from Raho, Mac Declos, KTRSX, and more to connect the set, there’s no better way to spend a day in New York than this. Plus, she also tucks in a few of her own singles ‘Roar‘ and ‘How You Move‘ from KNTXT. Fans thoroughly enjoyed bobbing and fist-pumping to her play, and so did she. You had onlookers even dancing from the fire escapes surrounding the street. From KNTXT decked out followers to the heroes fanning friends, everyone excitedly moved to Charlotte. Every inch of that street was covered, even if it meant climbing the Link NYC sign. Her sonic journey ebbed and flowed, giving the listeners a soundtrack for the city. She synced with the heartbeat of the city as her tracks pulsated acid and created everlasting mesmerizing energy. Powering through until the end of her set, she did not stop the gut-busting techno, ranging from 140 bpm to 147 bpm for the final finishers. What’s next for Charlotte? She continues her world tour at notorious clubs like Space, Amnesia and festivals such as Grape Festival, Panorama Festival, Creamfields, ARC Festival, Mysteryland, and more. Follow her here for more details. Check out the tracklist here and relive her Orchard Street moment below. The post [WATCH] Charlotte de Witte’s NYC Pop Up Party appeared first on EDMTunes.

Posthumous SOPHIE Album Revealed Along With Lead Single, "Reason Why": Listen
Over three years after the tragic death of SOPHIE, a posthumous album has been revealed. Last week, SOPHIE's official YouTube channel cryptically uploaded a silent, hourlong video teaser, sparking speculation among fans about a new project from the Scottish electronic music luminary. It's now been confirmed that a self-titled album will be released in September through Future Classic and her former label, Transgressive Records. "Sophie didn’t often speak publicly of her private life, preferring to put everything she wanted to articulate in her music," a statement from Transgressive reads. "It feels only right to share with the world the music she hoped to release, in the belief that we can all connect with her in this, the form she loved most." Crafted by SOPHIE alongside her closest collaborators, the album was said to be nearing completion around the time of her untimely passing in 2021. Benny Long, SOPHIE's studio manager and trusted friend, took on the responsibility of leading the project to its completion. The announcement lands with its lead single featuring Kim Petras and BC Kingdom, "Reason Why," a captivating track that seamlessly merges SOPHIE’s contributions with melodic dance-pop production, memorable vocal hooks and themes of resolutely forging one's own path. Presently, new social media accounts have emerged under the username MSMSMSM FOREVER, signaling a continued digital presence for the late producer as the album cycle unfolds. The self-titled LP follows SOPHIE's influential 2018 album, OIL OF EVERY PEARL'S UN-INSIDES. Marking the final recorded chapter of her musical legacy, the album is described as telling a life story that spans from mysterious beginnings, through the chaos of club life, to a state of euphoric transcendence. "Sophie gave all of herself to her music," the statement reads. "It’s here that she can always be found." SOPHIE's posthumous sophomore album is slated for release on September 27th, 2024. Listen to "Reason Why" below and find the new single on streaming platforms here.

From Screens to Scenes: Afterlife’s No-Phone Policy at Hï Ibiza
Over the past couple of months, there has been a vast amount of debate going around the social sphere of banning phones at shows and placing other restrictions. It’s been briefly talked about by artists like John Summit, who recently expressed support for the idea on social media, highlighting the importance of fans being fully immersed in the live experience. James Hype has also weighed in on the debate, implementing a no-phone policy for his residency at Hï Ibiza. Now adding to this growing issue is Afterlife, who have announced a strict no-phone policy at their shows for the remainder of their residency at Hï Ibiza. The policy will be effective starting Thursday, 27th June, and will be enforced throughout the club and for the entire summer residency season. So whether you’re catching Chris Avantgarde close the club room with a darker and harder set or catching Tale of Us in the Theatre, you’ll have only the music, the visuals, the vibes, and other patrons ready to take you fully into the experience. Afterlife has gained popularity over the years for their stunning visuals that keep patrons enticed and in awe. The recent implementation of a no-phone policy aims to rekindle the special feeling of raving. It offers fans the chance to connect deeply with the immersive imagery and show created by Afterlife, free from the distractions of cell phone usage. This means you can fully bask in the graphics without being surrounded by bright phone screens. While it might be a controversial move since many people attend an Afterlife show to capture the stunning visuals, the intention behind the no-phone policy is to enhance the live experience. By encouraging attendees to immerse themselves in the moment, this shift aims to foster a deeper connection with the music, the ambiance, and the collective energy of the crowd, creating a more memorable and engaging atmosphere. What do you think about the no-phone policy at live events? Will it enhance your experience or take away from it? Share your thoughts—do you think this move will redefine the rave culture?

Bicep have unveiled “CHROMA 004 ROLA”
Bicep have today unveiled “CHROMA 004 ROLA”, the latest single to be taken from their ongoing CHROMA project — which comprises a record label, a series of curated events, a brand new and constantly evolving Bicep AV/DJ show, and a unique visual identity created in collaboration with David Rudnick and his Terrain studio, “ROLA” is another statement track from the duo: stripped-back and raw, with a distinct UK flavour, it was written, quite literally, with the dancefloor in mind as the opening track for their epic CHROMA takeover of London’s mammoth 15,000 capacity Drumsheds venue at the end of 2023. The single also received a first play from Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s New Music Daily Radio on release today. “We wanted something dark and heavy to play as our first tune, as a stark departure from the Live show,” explained Bicep. “It’s exactly what we’re wanting to achieve with CHROMA, a track written for the dancefloor with a specific idea in mind. It’s a chance for us to stretch our legs outside a traditional album cycle and focus purely on music for us djing. It feels really refreshing for us to write music and play it out that same week. It’s been really fun for us to let people hear a bit of a tougher sound from us.” Despite its genesis in the middle of a stormy December in London, “ROLA” is a track that has just as much impact on a warm summer night, or — as evidenced by their recent standout Coachella performances — a peak-time festival stage, and comes as the pair gear up for a double-slot at this year’s Glastonbury, where they will bring both their ‘Bicep presents CHROMA’ AV/DJ show, which headlines the IICON stage on the Thursday night, and a world exclusive performance under alias DOVE on the Levels stage. Bicep has also been announced as headliners at this year’s Wilderness Festival, will be closing out Creamfields Runway stage, are playing at MIRA — Barcelona’s Digital Arts Festival — in November, and will also play North American shows at Portola, CRSSD and Making Time. It’s the latest in a run of new music set for release on CHROMA throughout 2024, with the duo also hosting a number of ‘Bicep Present CHROMA’ takeovers, at London’s Finsbury Park and Brighton Beach next month, with lineups carefully curated by Bicep themselves. July 19th – Brighton Beach – w/ Palms Trax b2b Job Jobse, Ross From Friends, Kelly Lee Owens, Peach, Hammer b2b Ysanne August 2nd – Finsbury Park, London – w/ Joy Orbison, Baby T, Mia Koden, Skee Mask, SUCHI, Surusinghe Though billed as an AV/DJ performance, the ‘Bicep present CHROMA’ shows are actually more of a hybrid between DJ and live. The pair have several pedals and a drum machine they can use on stage, and there is a connection between the decks and the visuals team which allows the latter to see what is being played in real time adapting their visuals accordingly. This in turn gives Bicep the freedom to experiment with each performance, keeping the visuals and music working in tandem, no matter the direction they decide to take things. “ROLA” marks the fourth release in the CHROMA label series, and follows DOVE’s “Bi83”, a collaboration with Benjamin Damage (under their alias B.D.B) titled “L.A.V.A”, and inaugural Bicep CHROMA single “HELIUM”. Support for CHROMA has come from The Observer, Guardian, Resident Advisor, Billboard, MTV, FADER, Wonderland, NME, Mixmag, DJ Mag, Stereogum, Notion, Paste, The Line Of Best Fit, PopMatters, Brooklyn Vegan and many more. With Bicep also appears on the cover of Disco Pogo’s April Issue. Stream / Download here The post Bicep have unveiled “CHROMA 004 ROLA” appeared first on Decoded Magazine.

ODESZA's "The Last Goodbye" Farewell Morphs Into Groundbreaking Art Experience at the Gorge
As the curtain falls on their magnum opus tour, peering into the looking glass of ODESZA has never been more enticing. Ever the aesthetes, they're now preparing to shatter it by inviting their fans into a utopia of their own creation. ODESZA's Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight have announced "ECHOES," a first-of-its-kind art installation coming to their concerts at the Gorge Amphitheatre from July 4-6. The momentous shows will wrap up the "Finale" run of the duo's most recent tour, "The Last Goodbye," which many hold in high regard as the best live show of their career. They revealed "ECHOES" by virtue of the first episode of a four-pronged video series developed by UPROXX Studios. The ambitious installation is facilitated by the processing might of a Snapdragon-powered PC from Qualcomm, with whom Mills and Knight are collaborating to bring it to life alongside SETUP. "Building the 'Finale' set, we're doing things we haven't done before," Mills said. ODESZA's Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight performing on their "The Last Goodbye Finale" tour at Madison Square Garden on June 20th, 2024.Julian Bajsel The installation is the result of a whirlwind two-month design sprint. Mills and Knight are manifesting a universe where the digital and the sublime converge within the hallowed grounds of the Gorge, which sits roughly three hours south of Western Washington University, where they first met back in 2009. Fans will agree ODESZA's music is best experienced in the cradle of nature's grandeur. And there exists no venue more fitting for "ECHOES" than the idyllic Gorge, which is prevalently recognized among the nation's most scenic concert venues. "We want [fans] to step into a new world," Knight added. "This installation we're trying to build is going to be something very, very cool."
