I returned to my hometown, Monterrey, Mexico, to explore various genres within the electronic realm. My sets are known for their energy and eclecticism, offering a unique sonic experience. This versatility has led me to perform at a wide variety of events, from art exhibitions and brand activations, to fashion shows and performances at some of the most important clubs in my country. I am the co-founder of Penumbra, a label and record company dedicated to promoting emerging talent, and the founder of Loop de Loop, a fresh and fun music collective that has received a great response in Monterrey. I am a university professor and have been teaching History and International Relations theory for quite some time. Currently, my favorite genres within electronic music are Balearic, House, Deep House and Deep Tech, Were you connected with music from a young age and did anyone inspire you? Yes, I’ve been connected to music from a very young age. I remember listening to my dad’s rock albums in the car, especially Queen and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Music always captivated me; my mom often recalls how I would start dancing whenever I heard a tune, completely oblivious to any crowd around me. What kickstarted your music career? I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember, and I started taking singing and guitar lessons at a very young age. However, it wasn’t until I moved to Japan for a year in 2016 that I truly immersed myself in electronic music and DJing. Tell us more about your sound and how it’s evolved over time I initially started with minimal and minimal deep tech, combined with Japanese synth pop like Yellow Magic Orchestra, influenced directly by my experiences in Japan. However, upon returning to my home country, Mexico, I developed a growing interest in other genres. As a history professor, I enjoy the process of delving into the origin of sounds, venues and legends. Any words you want to share to encourage other artists or producers? Never confine yourself to a single, fixed idea of who you are or what your art should be; you will evolve, and that is the natural course of life. How do you nurture your industry relationships? I see the industry as a dynamic playground full of opportunities for collaboration and building meaningful connections. While I acknowledge the presence of competition among collectives and DJs, I focus on personal growth and progress. I strive to support emerging DJs and nurture professional relationships with colleagues and promoters, fostering a community where we can all thrive together. Is there anyone you’d like to thank that’s been crucial to your journey? I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to so many incredible people. To my friends from Electric Community, Sixthsense, ESDESTO, and LoopdeLoop, who believed in me and started organizing parties. To SolarX, a talented DJ and producer, with whom I co-founded my label, Penumbra. To Andrik Palacios, with whom I co-produced my first songs. To Jesus (Tuti), for his unwavering support, and to Dan Velasco, who has supported me through the agency .44 (punto44). Thanks to DJ Temo, Topaz, Meteoro, and everyone who comes out to dance and listen to my music every night. This track is pretty recent but I was completely blown away after listening to it. I want to thank my friend, the great DJ Andres (aka Chivo). Tokyo ASMR by Emanuel Satie Since my name is Michiko I had this idea of incorporating some oriental sounds into my sets. I came across this song while walking in a park and I felt as if it had been made for me to play it, with a really sensual voice and great melody. What’s your favorite piece of studio equipment or software? I have been using Ableton for a while with an Akai APC25, you don’t really need the most expensive gear to make good tunes and my Shure 58 to sing to record my voice. Name your favourite club or festival and how it makes you feel My favorite club is Topaz Deluxe in Monterrey, my hometown. It truly feels like home to me. I first discovered electronic music there and dreamed of the day I would get to play there. My debut night at Topaz Deluxe was one of the happiest moments of my life. Name an outlandish rider request? I am not much of an alcoholic drinker so in my rider you would find non-alcoholic beverages such as kombuchas, matte, ginger beers. Additionally, my hometown can get pretty hot in the summer, so a fan for sure. Favourite clubbing memory and who or what did it involve? I had an unforgettable experience at The Hive in Zurich. I danced non-stop until 10:00 a.m. with Simon, Ling Ling, Ines, and Dario, some of whom I met that night. It was an incredible team. The best part was not knowing the DJs beforehand; the music and the vibe were simply amazing. What famous quote represents you best? No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man. – Heraclitus. I feel I am in constant change as well as everything that surrounds me and I accept it. If you could play at any venue, where would it be and why? There are countless iconic and enigmatic clubs I dream of playing at, but overall, my ideal venue would be a festival set on a beach or in a stunning natural landscape. While I enjoy the energy of indoor venues, playing outdoors allows me to feel deeply connected with my surroundings. Music is….. (explain more) Music is the vibrational expression of emotions. There is nothing else in this world that allows me to convey my feelings as powerfully or makes me feel as deeply as music does. One song you really couldn’t live without and why? ‘West end Girls’ by Pet Shop Boys, I just love this song. It was after a Pet Shop Boys concert that I decided I wanted to produce my own music. Namedrop your favourite 5 artists or DJs (past or present) Paula Tape Wallace Zombies in Miami Jex Opolis Chaos in the CBD What was your first music memory and how did it fuel your fire? Listening to ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ in the car with my dad, I was both fascinated and perplexed by its many shifts. I wondered, “What is this? Why does it have so many changes?” One moment it was Galileo Galilei Figaro!..and then it was rock again. This song showed me from a very young age that we can bend the rules. Tell us more about your plans for the future I am currently focused on producing my own music and creating unforgettable experiences with my parties through Loop de Loop. At the end of June, my label Penumbra, which I co-founded with SolarX, will release a new EP titled, ‘My Soul is Free’ by Kickzologo. Additionally, I am working on a side project to produce dreamy electro cumbia, a genre that is very popular in my hometown. My goal is to travel the world sharing my sounds and music selection. With a major and a master’s degree in international relations, I am excited to blend my passion for music with my academic background. Any worldly advice you’d like to share? 14. Our favourite Deep & Progressive producer is back with a wave of news today! Good, great, incredible news for all of you fans of Marsh! The longtime Anjunadeep contributor — who, by the way, hosted his own day stage in Gjipe, Albania this summer at Anjunadeep Explorations with artists such as Wassu and Guy J — is back on news delivery this week, as he managed to sneak an entire single into the internet, which came out today. ‘Floodlights’ Best experienced on a warm, summery open-air dancefloor, Tom’s track today is a true nod to his earlier sound. Deep and groovy, yet not nearly as high-energy as recent tracks such as ‘Fulfillment’ alongside Ferry Corsten, ‘Floodlights‘, his latest, takes us back to the Lockdown Marsh — I might have premiered terminology here. The song is a floaty ball of bliss, blending warm basslines with ethereal pads, slowly evolving textures, and rocking Tom’s signature hypnotic Trance pluck. To top it off, the vocals used further add to the delicate nature of the whole arrangement. It’s a soft track, clever and shy, but a true, elegant nod to the past, both looking back on Tom’s discography and the whole of Dance music. “‘Floodlights’ evokes images of light piercing through dark, foggy forests“, Marsh says. “I first debuted the track in my Kew Gardens mix, and it quickly became the most replayed moment of the set! The idea started with an ambient, fuzzy chord progression. Then I began jamming with the iconic DX7 Solid Bass patch (courtesy of Myon) and quickly found the bass riff. Next came the vocals. I fell in love with the angelic, choral vibes, which added a special hook to the record! It all came together quickly and has been a joy to feature in my recent sets”. A Steamy Set Coming Soon Tom has made it a part of his identity to record DJ sets in beautiful places. But after an Estes Park immersed-in-nature set, Herstmonceux Castle in Sussex, Castello Zamittello in Malta (my personal favourite), Kew Gardens in London, and even a cliffside gig in England and more, you would think he was running out of locations and concepts. Enter a steam train. Once a point of discussion on Armin van Buuren’s A State Of Trance back last year when Marsh stopped for a guestmix, sketching and planning became a reality, and we will see the release of a fully filmed DJ set from the historic Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways’ (FfWHR) Snowdonia Star on Thursday, June 27th. The train holds a special place in Marsh’s heart, as his parents, Andrew and Jacqui, volunteered and worked for Ffestiniog. The set, filmed by Marsh’s friend and long-standing collaborator Sam, is exceptionally cinematic and showcases breathtaking views of the Welsh countryside. In fact, we’ve left a little extract of said set a few paragraphs above, which happens to be the moment Tom drops his ‘Floodlights’ single during the ride. Listen to Marsh‘s ‘Floodlights‘ below for your Spotify play you know and love. Click this link to stream the single on your platform of choice. And be sure to come back on Thursday as we share Tom’s gorgeous set! We can’t wait. The post Marsh Releases Single ‘Floodlights’ Ahead Of Steam Train Set appeared first on EDMTunes.

  17. Out Tech House superstar went from the busy clubs to a cozy studio, shoes off and everything. Recently, Tech House icon John Summit joined the Therapuss with Jake Shane roster for a round of deep, friendly, and at times tipsy conversation. The programme is a talk show that injects humour into the world of therapy, offering a fresh approach to tackling troubles. Instead of the usual therapist guiding guests, Jake Shane himself becomes the patient, laying out his anxieties and life struggles. The twist? The therapists are actually Jake’s followers! Fans submit their own problems through the show’s website, stepping into the “therapist” role and offering their unique perspectives and advice on Jake’s issues, as well as those submitted by other listeners. This creates a dynamic where relatable situations and anxieties are explored in a lighthearted way. The show doesn’t shy away from real-life challenges, but tackles them with a comedic touch, making it both entertaining and thought-provoking. Session 27: Drunk with John Summit Although the conversation spans over 50 minutes and various topics are approached, here’s a bit of an insight into what you can find on John Summit’s Therapuss episode, when having a listen yourself: They talk about John’s upcoming album, Comfort in Chaos, which took him a long time to finish. John says he is relieved to have it done and feels it’s the best work he has ever done. John talks about how he premiered most of the tracks at Coachella and the positive reaction from the audience. Summit talks about a deadmau5 concert he attended in 2011 which changed his life, inspiring him to become a DJ. He describes his journey into getting where he is now: learning how to DJ and making music while in college, and the struggles he faced initially, even recalling an occasion when his music cleared an entire dancefloor, and how he eventually found his niche in Deep House music with vocals, morphing over to his signature style of today. 18. It's out with the old and in with the new for Life Is Beautiful, which is shedding its billing as a music festival in favor of a "block party" format in Las Vegas. The revamped event, A Big Beautiful Block Party, is scheduled for September 27-28 and will "transform Downtown Las Vegas into a massive dance party," according to its organizers. They say their new approach will lead to a more intimate experience by eliminating overlapping sets and programming performances from 5pm to 2am each day. The fest will take place in a smaller venue near downtown's famed Fremont Street Experience, a five-minute walk from The Arts District. It's a big moment forLife Is Beautiful, which had operated as a three-day festival since its inception back in 2013. The brand was acquired by Rolling Stone nearly a decade later. "As a landmark institution and touchstone of the music industry for over 50 years, the Rolling Stone team will help to deepen our connection to fans of music everywhere, while also championing the cultural initiatives that make Life is Beautiful so much more than a music festival," Life Is Beautiful CEO David Oehm said at the time. Considering the EDM-focused lineup and smaller venue, those initiatives seem to be the upshot of a paradigm shift in today's rave culture, wherein consumers often prioritize intimate, community-driven parties over the regurgitated frills of a major festival. The inaugural edition of A Big Beautiful Block Party will feature performances by Justice, Peggy Gou, LCD Soundsystem, Jamie xx, Jungle, James Blake, Thundercat, Toro y Moi, LP Giobbi and more. Tickets for A Big Beautiful Block Party go on sale Thursday, June 27th at 10am PT. Coupled with performances, Romanian culture, food, and crafts, the event even achieved an eco-friendly main stage powered by renewable energy. This year, Untold includes a new Fashion Village for Romanian designers and welcomes Swedish House Mafia, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mik, Alok, Purple Disco Machine, Black Coffee, and more. #4 Ultra Music Festival, USA On the east coast resides Ultra Music Festival. 20. Blending gritty bass music with a distinct, cyberpunk-inspired aesthetic, NEOTEK is positioning himself as bass music's next emerging star. Since launching his career back in 2021 with "Losing Control," a sinister midtempo anthem, the Australian DJ and producer has been consistently gaining momentum, receiving support from a slew of major artists and signing his tracks to key labels. NEOTEK was already experimenting with music production by the age of 15, developing a unique sound that EDM fans would ultimately hear at massive festivals and venues such as Red Rocks, EDC, Okeechobee and Lost Lands. He's also now amassed over four million collective streams on Spotify to date. NEOTEK’s melodic bass cover of The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather” marked his first major success just a year after he debuted, followed by “Bone Breaker” alongside Australian dubstep star SIPPY, which was released via Zeds Dead's Deadbeats. That track exposed NEOTEK to a brand-new audience and led to releases on Excision’s Subsidia and Black Tiger Sex Machine's Kannibalen Records. His tunes are just as fitting for the stage, as he's rinsed them on major festivals and venues all across Australia. NEOTEK is also a passionate educator, teaching the ins and outs of music production to roughly 15 students every week while being associated with the artist growth company Industry Set. NEOTEK’s latest single “Virtualise” is out now via Create Music Group. Check out the track below and find it on streaming platforms here. 21. The recording industry is intensifying its fight against unauthorized, AI-generated music with lawsuits targeting two leading services, Suno and Udio. Filed in separate U.S. district courts, the suits allege that the companies behind those programs have unlawfully exploited copyrighted sound recordings to train their AI-powered text-to-music models. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has reportedly spearheaded the lawsuits, representing the big three major labels: Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group and Warner Records. The complaints emphasize that Suno and Udio have copied vast amounts of sound recordings without obtaining proper permissions, thus violating fundamental copyright laws. According to the complaints, AI-powered music generation services like Suno and Udio operate by ingesting massive datasets of popular music to create new outputs that mimic human sound recordings. This method, the lawsuits argue, not only infringes on copyright but also poses risks of flooding the market with AI-generated music, which could overshadow genuine works created by humans. The lawsuits seek to achieve several goals: court declarations that the services have infringed on copyrighted works, injunctions to prevent future infringements and financial damages for past violations. RIAA Chairman and CEO Mitch Glazier stressed that while the music community is open to collaborating with responsible AI developers, unlicensed services pose a significant threat to the integrity and value of human creativity. "The music community has embraced AI and we are already partnering and collaborating with responsible developers to build sustainable AI tools centered on human creativity that put artists and songwriters in charge," Glazier said in a statement. "But we can only succeed if developers are willing to work together with us. Unlicensed services like Suno and Udio that claim it’s 'fair' to copy an artist's life's work and exploit it for their own profit without consent or pay set back the promise of genuinely innovative AI for us all."
