  1. Every fan of TroyBoi knows a heater is coming as soon as they hear the letters of his name spelled out in his signature vocoded tone. His new 4 ON DA FLOOR EP is no exception, surprisingly serving up a collection of house tracks guaranteed to fill dancefloors, as its title promises. Easing fans into a new side of his ever-changing style, TroyBoi released "Dhunga" and "Híbrido" in April and May, respectively. The full EP features a pair of fresh tracks, "Viper" and "Petrunko." While they signal a departure for the renowned trap music producer, fans can easily identify the signature sultry vibe that permeates each release in his catalog. "Viper" blends house and reggaeton with the help of Guaynaa, a Puerto Rican rapper and singer. An energizing beat undercuts his vocals, mixing with the mirthful blaring of trumpets to deliver a track designed for packed-out dancefloors. Meanwhile, "Petrunko" is a return to form with its slower—but no less ecstatic—trap arrangement, where skittering vocals slice through whimsical sound design. "I'm an artist who loves to experiment with multiple genres," TroyBoi said in a press release. "This project is a moment that shows my appreciation of house/four on the floor type rhythms and showcasing it through my production." The new EP arrives amidst a series of high-profile sets for TroyBoi, who in 2024 has performed at Coachella and EDC Las Vegas, among other major festivals. Now on the horizon are Beyond Wonderland, EDC Orlando and a concert at Colorado's iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, to name a few. You can find 4 ON DA FLOOR on streaming platforms here. 3. Sending a message of encouragement in overcoming adversity, Headie One employs the talents of dubstep icon Skrillex in his new single, "Make a W." The track appears on the ascendent hip-hop artist's sophomore album The Last One, out today via Sony UK. It features the free-flowing rap stylings of Headie One and fellow Brit AJ Tracey as well as BEAM, a frequent collaborator of Skrillex, whose production swirls with hypnotic melodies and resounding bass. The languid beat contrasts the pace of Headie One's spitfire lyricism throughout the song's entirety, creating a compelling ebb and flow. He sends a message of proverbially spinning straw into gold, and trusting yourself to "Make a W" even when obstacles arise. Skrillex is no stranger to hip-hop collaborations, releasing fan-favorite tracks alongside the likes of Rick Ross ("Purple Lamborghini"), The Game ("El Chapo"), 2 Chainz ("Febreze") and Pusha T ("Burial"), among other rap icons. "Make a W" follows his immensely popular collaboration with Hamdi and TAICHU, "Push," which dropped in May. You can check out Headie One's full The Last One album below. 4. MVSE is back with more music enlisting shXdow on his latest ethereal single ‘Back To Me‘ after his last track ‘Lose Control‘ with Micah Martin. The track is out now via Atelier Records. ‘Back To Me’ tackles the critical issue of self-love and empowerment, a message that resonates deeply in our image-conscious world. Featuring the soulful vocals of Donna Tella, ‘Back To Me’ showcases MVSE’s signature analog sounds and his talent for crafting breathtaking sonic landscapes. It’s a powerful melodic anthem, where he adds his signature melodic bass elements to the mix. He carefully sculpts the basslines, seamlessly blending them with Donna Tella’s vocals. “This song is one of the most emotional tracks we’ve ever written. 5. Three titans just released a Progressive Trance gemstone. We’ve got huge news over on the Trancier side of the Dance spectrum today! A collaboration of gigantic size hits the stores, as veterans Pete K and Paul Arcane have come together to unleash ‘Hold Me‘, a project in the works for a long while. The single has come out today on Armin van Buuren’s mythical imprint, A State Of Trance. Pete K Hailing from Portugal but currently residing in the City of Lights, Pete K has carved out a strong reputation in the Dance scene for years. His tracks have found homes on esteemed labels like Axtone, Release Records, and Zerothree, among others. Pete’s sonic palette leans towards Progressive House, but also ventures into other realms like Trance, Techno, and House. Paul Arcane Taking the Trance scene by storm, Paul Arcane’s infectious melodies and tireless work ethic have built a global fanbase over his years as a producer. Elliptical Sun, Enhanced, and even Anjunabeats have received Arcane’s works, solidifying his spot. For the Trance community, he’s already a star, after a meteoric rise and solid stay atop. Amy J Pryce A rising star based in London, Amy J Pryce has been making a name for herself on the DnB and Trance corners of the vast Dance world over the past few years. Her most remarkable work to date is her part on Oliver Smith’s Anjunabeats release from 2018, ‘Lovingly’, played all over the world and famously supported by label heads Above & Beyond. (Left to right) Paul Arcane, Amy J Pryce, Pete K. ‘Hold Me’ In a fusion of sorts that sees Pete’s groove and Paul’s hypnotic nature, ‘Hold Me’ comes to be a sort of Deep Trance / Progressive Trance hybrid, with a full, boomy low end, and textures that invite you to close your eyes and let the music carry you away. Enjoy classical arpeggios, optimal tension and release games, and Amy’s voice being the final piece to the puzzle. Regarding the creation of the single, the artists had a chat with us and told us their views on the project. Paul recalls, “Almost 3 years in the works, Pete K and I started ‘Hold Me’ in late 2021. I always wanted to collab with him, as I’m a huge fan of his tracks (his ‘Traveller’ is probably my favorite, and actually a big inspiration for this track). Originally the track name was going to be a French word – because we found out that we both spoke French! But then Pete suggested adding a vocalist, so Amy came into the project and it was a perfect fit! We went through a few more revisions and then the song came to life“. Likewise, Pete says he had a similar view of Paul: “I love the kind of emotion he puts in his tracks and it’s something I always try to do in my music too. So it just felt like the perfect fit to create something together. Amy then joined the track with her amazing voice and turned something good into something great!“ Lastly, Amy told us, “It’s been a pleasure working with Pete and Paul, both huge talents in their scene, and it shows in this music. I’m so happy with how the track has turned out. I wanted it to feel like walking into a festival on a beach, at sunset, on a hot night. Exciting, heady, full of possibility. We live so fast and busy these days, but working on this track I was thinking about having nothing to do but dance the night away, be present and be in the moment“. Listen to Pete K, Paul Arcane, and Amy J Pryce‘s ‘Hold Me‘ down below for your Spotify play. Also, click here to support the release on your platform of choice. 6. With bass drops that feel like emotional free falls, Syzy's debut album, The weight of the world, captures the vertigo of growing up in a way words alone never could. The breathtaking album has the feel of a bona fide breakout for Syzy, one of today's most promising producers of dubstep and riddim music. Whether or not you're willing to admit it, riddim has sadly grown prosaic, falling victim to repetition and stagnation as artists recycle the same presets and arrangements en masse. Syzy, however, stands out as a contrarian producer infusing the grating genre with an emotional core, producing bitcrushed dreamscapes unburdened by the expectations of others. That approach is in the bone marrow of The weight of the world, wherein she captures the essence of a generation that wears its emotions like QR codes—instantly scannable yet infinitely complex. Syzy.Corson Agency An undeniable highlight is "HEART123," which beautifully weaves the growling bass of dubstep with the raw, melodic undertow of digicore. Syzy's effervescent production here is a masterclass in tension and release, with glitched-out drops that plummet like a like a broken elevator, only to be caught by gossamer threads of synth. Meanwhile, kmoe's quavering vocal delivery teeters between whispered confessions and bold declarations, mirroring the push and pull of a budding romance. Elsewhere in the album, Syzy shows out with the melodic riddim stunner "Take my energy!." The SoCal producer kicks off with a hometown callback by sampling an MLB broadcaster's call of the first career home run hit by Angels legend Mike Trout back in 2011. She then drops a fizzy banger where distorted synths slice through chugging subs. Syzy's tenacity comes to a head in the album's cathartic closer, "Dancing on my own," a captivating rush of hyperpop that unshackles her from society's judgmental gaze. The track is a microcosm of the full project, a commentary on shared struggle and resilience in the face of apathy's fog. 7. Two Friends and singer Alexander Stewart team up for ‘Wrong Way,’ a track that’s as catchy as it is cathartic. It’s the fun-spirited break up anthem that you didn’t know you needed for the summer. Stewart’s smooth vocals draw you in from the beginning, weaving a tale of a relationship gone wrong. Then, the beat drops – a powerhouse explosion of sound complete with a funky horn section. This is where the twist comes in: Stewart declares, “I finally wrote you a song, I hope you take it the wrong way.” This ain’t your typical heartbreak anthem. “Wrong Way” flips the script, offering a sassy and playful send-off to a past love. The accompanying visualizer features electrifying clips from Two Friends’ sold-out Red Rocks show, where Stewart surprised the crowd with a live performance of the song for the very first time. “As musicians, every relationship we’ve ever been in always includes a partner who expects you to write a song about them. Well, ‘Wrong Way’ is the song we wrote about them, but it just so happens to be after the breakups, and maybe not what they wanted the song to say”- Two Friends ‘Wrong Way’ marks Two Friends’ hottest collab yet in 2024. Earlier this year, they teamed up with Arizona Zervas on the infectious ‘Hiding'(April) and joined forces with Cheat Codes for the high-energy dance-pop anthem ‘The Way It Is’ (February), which has racked up millions of streams. This track builds on their impressive streak, following last year’s smash hit ‘If Only I,’ a collaboration with diamond-selling dance duo Loud Luxury and chart-topping pop star Bebe Rexha. 11. Danish trio WhoMadeWho and Canadian duo Blue Hawaii have enlisted Munich-based live act, DJ, and producer Innellea to remix their latest collaborative single, “Kiss Me Hard.” The trio continues to raise the bar on their creative output as they approach the release of their upcoming album, Kiss & Forget, expanding the impressive range of their LP remixers. The release also arrives on the heels of the lineup announcement for the second edition of WhoMadeWho’s label festival, The Moment, which will return to their hometown of Copenhagen, Denmark on August 7, 8, and 9, 2024. Kiss Me Hard (Innellea Remix) The original record offers a dreamy, nostalgia-laden tune that fuses WhoMadeWho’s bold electronic textures with Blue Hawaii’s synth-infused indie dance flair. In his remix, Innellea flips the hazy, wistful tone of the original into a moody, dark, and thumping basement weapon. His thunderous production heightens the senses, juxtaposing Blue Hawaii’s youthful vocal with an acid-drenched instrumental. “Since the original had more of a summery vibe, I thought it would be exciting to give the song a twist and produce a darker version. It made me think of the Dark Prince, who has shaped my musical career since the beginning.” Innellea WhoMadeWho continues to showcase their impeccable ears as selectors, as they invite Innellea to join the stellar lineup of remixers, including Mind Against & Dyzen, CAMELPHAT, and Marten Lou, for the Kiss & Forget LP, slated for release on September 13th. Their tastemaking talents will be put on full display later this summer in the second edition of their festival, WhoMadeWho Presents: The Moment, which will boast performances from Amémé, Blond:ish, Lovefoxy, LP Giobbi, Marcel Dettman, Mind Against, Patrick Mason, Tripolism, and of course, a hybrid set from the Danish trio themselves. WhoMadeWho Presents: The Moment will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark from August 7-9, 2024. WhoMadeWho Emerging from Denmark, WhoMadeWho has etched its mark on the global music scene with its genre-defying sound. The first two albums were nominated for the Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year. Blue Hawaii’s journey reflects a fusion of 00s dance music and Indie Sleaze while still preserving its deep emotional core. 14. Denis Sulta‘s signature style is fully displayed in If Only I Knew, a high-energy track that sends nothing but good vibes. It has catchy melodies, pulsating beats, and an uplifting energy that goes beyond the dance floor. The track shows that Sulta can make music that fans and newbies alike really connect with thanks to its complex production and lively arrangement. The track is a groove-filled trance cut that pays homage to the techno scene of the 2000s when people only cared about dancing. If Only I Knew” was great fun to create. A lot of the time I would end up going into the studio all day and coming home with not much music created, maybe the pressure can limit my creativity. I’ll get back to my flat in the evening and sit down at the piano and just let my fingers find their way on the keys. This is exactly how ‘If Only I Knew’ came to be, in the relaxed and safe environment of my living room, not focused on any specific outcome other than something that felt honest and fun. – Denis Sulta The artist Hector Barbour, aka Denis Sulta, was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He is a famous DJ and electronic music artist known for his lively and varied sound. The hit song “It’s Only Real” from 2015 made him famous right away and made him a major player in the house and techno scenes. Sulta is known for his catchy tunes and energetic DJ sets. His music mixes house, techno, and disco sounds without any problems. He has put out music on well-known labels like Ninja Tune, Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, Numbers, and his own label, Sulta Selects. Denis has also performed at Berlin’s Panorama Bar and Ibiza’s Pikes, as well as at Tomorrowland, ADE, and Printworks as part of his “Sulta Selects” takeovers. In addition to being a great musician, Sulta also works to raise awareness about mental health issues and uses his fame to help and inspire his fans. 15. In the electronic music world, Knock2, ISOxo and RL Grime move with a menacing hush. While they may linger in silence for months, their sudden releases erupt like thunderstorms and make statements that reverberate through the scene. This holds true for "smack talk," a merciless trap track released moments ago by way of the esteemed record label and Asian hip-hop collective 88rising. Following ISOxo's surprise appearance during Knock2 and RL Grime's b2b set at Ultra Miami 2024, the track quickly became one of the festival's most anticipated IDs. "smack talk" is a bold middle finger to expectations, showcasing the production prowess of two rising superstars alongside one of trap music's most influential producers. The track harkens back to classic festival trap vibes with its booming 808s, but masterfully takes the genre to new heights with ISOxo's signature metallic snares, Knock2's pulsating basslines and Grime's atmospheric builds. The track arrives in the midst of a busy year for ISOxo and Knock2, who were named to the EDM.com Class of 2022 and 2023, respectively. Known collectively as ISOKNOCK, the duo debuted at Coachella in April and Knock2 is now preparing to release his debut album, nolimit, later in 2024. 16. Bridging the chasm between euphoria and despair, KDrew dissects the human condition in his new single, "Hysteria." The melodic bass track pulsates like a feverish heartbeat, its thunderous kickdrums intertwining with haunting melodies to mirror the frantic energy of its title. As the song's propulsive arrangement progresses, you can't help but be swept away by the sheer force of KDrew's cinematic production. Meanwhile, his powerful vocals explore temporal dissonance, framing a mental snapshot of someone caught between past mistakes and an uncertain future. With the precision of a surgeon and the soul of a tortured poet, his words evoke a sense of urgency, inviting us to confront our own demons in a world of unrelenting change. "We're lost in the waste of two different places / When we wake up, new generation / Where we go through the pages of all our mistakes before all our time is up," he croons. That theme is masterfully echoed in the song's drops, where a latticework of frenetic plucks and growling neuro-bass creates a sense of being suspended between two worlds. To that end, "Hysteria" is more of a primal scream than a song, speaking to the collective anxiety of a generation and distilling it into two and a half minutes of unfiltered emotion. 17. Imagine a love letter penned with a smirk, where every line is a playful jab at an ex who always craved a song written just for them. That's exactly what Two Friends deliver with their new single, "Wrong Way." With smooth vocals and a clever twist, the song’s lyrics tell the story of a breakup where singer Alexander Stewart finally fulfills his ex's wish for a song—but it’s far from the romantic ballad they might have imagined. The production is a hallmark of Two Friends' signature style, bringing biting humor wrapped in infectious melodies. From a production standpoint, the duo incorporate melancholic acoustic guitar strings and bright brass melodies that lift the track into festival-ready territory. "Wrong Way" comes amid a slew of successful dance-pop collaborations for Two Friends, including "The Way It Is" (with Cheat Codes) and "If Only I" (with Bebe Rexha and Loud Luxury). On the live front, the DJ duo kicked off the year hosting Big Bootie Land in Los Angeles, where they explosively premiered the 24th installment of their beloved "Big Bootie Mix" series. They're now gearing up to take the stage at Madison Square Garden on August 24th to debut its landmark 25th volume. Tickets to their upcoming performance at the Garden are available now. 19. Listen to a beautiful, warm track we recently came across. We’re just getting ready for the weekend ahead, and for that we’ve been packing up suitcases and burning CDs like the old times. Not really, but what we have been doing is looking for exciting music to share and play on repeat for hours on end. This one might just do the trick for you. Meet today’s artists, Loreno Mayer, Quizzow and Alessa. Loreno Mayer Croatian-born Loreno Mayer has been on a roll lately. After being played by ARTY all over the world and gathering support from Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten, Timmy Trumpet, and many others, he’s unveiled a ton of new material — and he’s got a ton more underway —, proving his tales over on the music industry are only getting started. In fact, we’ve already shared one of his recent tales on our page. Quizzow Also on creative duties on today’s feature is Quizzow, a producer who’s been taking the scene by storm. A lover of the Trance sound, he’s got signed to labels like Enhanced and Armada, and has been heard and played by the likes of Paul van Dyk, Cosmic Gate, and the British trio A&B as well. Alessa New-York-native Alessa is an international artist and songwriter who’s gathered well over a million streams on Spotify alone. Her works have been gracing and shaping Revealed Recordings since 2019, but far from only being a pivotal voice in one of Dance music’s greatest labels, she’s also seen signings on Proximity, Spinnin’, Sony, and many more. Are you a producer and you want your song featured on EDMTunes? Follow this link right here. ‘Without Your Love’ What sees the three maestros coming together this time around is ‘Without Your Love’, a conjoint work of them, recently released through Hardwell’s imprint, Revealed. This is far from being the first time the artists share a piece, though, as it is Mayer and Quizzow’s 4th collaboration, and, according to them, this is the most different one of them all. The single also has a long story of morphing in its sound throughout its creation. As Loreno tells us, the song had another vibe prior to this version. He had more of a Progressive House idea at the start, but which lacked some “summer freshness, some good new chords and a new idea”. He says, “Quizzow came up with the chords for the break and sent it back to me just to hear, and I instantly imagined the entire track in my head”. After that point, the track was crafted in just two days, and polished in a week. “We both signed to our dream record label which we are very proud of.” -Loreno Mayer And summery it feels. The track is a true anthem for the summer ahead, combining Alessa’s heartfelt vocals and tone with a plethora of elements which only add to the feel-good vibe. You’ll find pianos, strings, tambourine hits, and a mid-2010s Progressive House build that will take you back to those golden years of melodic 128 BPM drops. Listen to Loreno Mayer, Quizzow and Alessa’s ‘Without Your Love’ in full by clicking the Spotify button we’ve provided. Also, be sure to follow the artists on their socials — just hover over each of their names to be redirected. 21. A French Music Week in Paris could happen as early as 2025, according to recent remarks from the country's President, Emmanuel Macron. Summits like Miami Music Week and the iconic Amsterdam Dance Event unites fans, artists and industry professionals from across the globe. Regularly featuring a variety of panels and discussions alongside shows and festivals, they are crucial hubs for electronic dance music enthusiasts to network and, of course, dance until the sun comes up. Macron has now revealed that a French "Music Week" is taking shape. Attending the Fête de la Musique festival in France on June 21st, the French President said an event could happen next year in the country's capital. "I think we need to go even further," Macron told Radio FG in comments translated from French. "I would like us to create a major festival like we do in Miami or Amsterdam, which firstly allows all music professionals to come together, for example for Fashion Week, and to have very large concerts and very large festivals the days preceding... the music festival." Macron went on to praise the French electronic music scene, crediting artists like Jean-Michel Jarre and David Guetta for their influential work on a global scale. It's important to note that neither Macron nor his administration has formally announced a French "Music Week" at the time of this writing.
  22. All eyes are on the music industry at the moment with regards to AI's impact on copyright law. Udio, a generative AI music service that was recently sued by the three major labels, has now issued a statement in response to allegations of extensive copyright infringement. Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group and Warner Records claimed that Udio, as well as another leading generative AI music program called Suno, violated copyright laws by training their models on protected music without permission. "Our system is explicitly designed to create music reflecting new musical ideas," reads a statement shared by Udio on X. "We are completely uninterested in reproducing content in our training set, and in fact, have implemented and continue to refine state-of-the-art filters to ensure our model does not reproduce copyrighted works or artists’ voices." "We stand behind our technology and believe that generative AI will become a mainstay of modern society." Recording Industry Association of America CEO Mitch Glazier, who is spearheading the lawsuits, voiced concerns about irresponsible AI developers who are offering unlicensed services and, in turn, threaten the integrity of human creativity. "The music community has embraced AI and we are already partnering and collaborating with responsible developers to build sustainable AI tools centered on human creativity that put artists and songwriters in charge," Glazier said in a statement. "But we can only succeed if developers are willing to work together with us. Unlicensed services like Suno and Udio that claim it’s 'fair' to copy an artist's life's work and exploit it for their own profit without consent or pay set back the promise of genuinely innovative AI for us all." Read Udio's full statement from X below. In the past two years, AI has become a powerful tool for creative expression across many media—from text to images to film, and now music. At Udio, our mission is to empower artists of all kinds to create extraordinary music. In our young life as a company, we have sat in the studios of some of the world’s greatest musicians, workshopped lyrics with up-and-coming songwriters, and watched as millions of users created extraordinary new music, ranging from the funny to the profound. We have heard from a talented musician who, after losing the ability to use his hands, is now making music again. Producers have sampled AI-generated tracks to create hit songs, like ‘BBL Drizzy’, and everyday music-lovers have used the technology to express the gamut of human emotions from love to sorrow to joy. Groundbreaking technologies entail change and uncertainty. Let us offer some insight into how our technology works. Generative AI models, including our music model, learn from examples. Just as students listen to music and study scores, our model has ‘listened’ to and learned from a large collection of recorded music. The goal of model training is to develop an understanding of musical ideas—the basic building blocks of musical expression that are owned by no one. Our system is explicitly designed to create music reflecting new musical ideas. We are completely uninterested in reproducing content in our training set, and in fact, have implemented and continue to refine state-of-the-art filters to ensure our model does not reproduce copyrighted works or artists’ voices. We stand behind our technology and believe that generative AI will become a mainstay of modern society. Virtually every new technological development in music has initially been greeted with apprehension, but has ultimately proven to be a boon for artists, record companies, music publishers, technologists, and the public at large. Synthesizers, drum machines, digital recording technology, and the sound recording itself are all examples of once-controversial music creation tools that were feared in their early days. Yet each of these innovations ultimately expanded music as an art and as a business, leading to entirely new genres of music and billions of dollars in the pockets of artists, songwriters and the record labels and music publishers who profit from their creations. We know that many musicians—especially the next generation—are eager to use AI in their creative workflows. In the near future, artists will compose music alongside their fans, amateur musicians will create entirely new musical genres, and talented creators—regardless of means—will be able to scale the heights of the music industry. The future of music will see more creative expression than ever before. Let us use this watershed moment in technology to expand the circle of creators, empower artists, and celebrate human creativity.“
