Marsh talks about his new single “Floodlights”
Marsh, a UK-born and US-based Melodic and Progressive house star, releases his new song “Floodlights” on Anjunadeep. This stunning new release from Marsh expertly mixes delicate vocals with his signature bassline sound. It sounds best on a dance floor outside, swaying in the warm summer breeze. ‘Floodlights’ evokes images of light piercing through dark, foggy forests. I first debuted the track in my Kew Gardens mix, and it quickly became the most replayed moment of the set! The idea started with an ambient, fuzzy chord progression. Then I began jamming with the iconic DX7 Solid Bass patch (courtesy of Myon) and quickly found the bass riff. Next came the vocals. I fell in love with the angelic, choral vibes, which added a special hook to the record! It all came together quickly and has been a joy to feature in my recent sets – Marsh says. To celebrate the release of “Floodlights,” Marsh will put out a fully filmed DJ set from the famous Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways (FfWHR) Snowdonia Star on Thursday, June 27th. For Marsh, the train is very important. His parents, Andrew and Jacqui, helped and worked for Ffestiniog. Sam, Marsh’s friend and longtime partner, filmed the set, which looks like it belongs in a movie theater and has stunning views of the Welsh countryside. The artist: Marsh Marsh is at the top of the lyrical and progressive house scene ever since his 2023 album “Endless” came out. The album went straight to the top of Beatport’s charts, and the artist went on a 52-date world tour that sold over 35,000 tickets. Marsh recently played to packed houses at HERE at Outernet in London and New Century Hall in Manchester. He also played at EDC Las Vegas and Cercle‘s famous event at the Air France Museum in Paris, where 25,000 people watched. With vocalists and longtime collaborators Jodie Knight and Leo Wood, Marsh will bring his hybrid show ARIA to the US in September. The show will be performed at famous places like LA’s Fonda Theatre, Chicago’s Concord Music Hall, and New York’s Webster Hall. Anjunadeep Open Air Seattle (a fully filmed live show), Anjunadeep Explorations, Electric Forest, and Deep Tropics are some of the best summer festivals. “Floodlights” by Marsh is now out on Anjunadeep. Sinvergüenza Releases Yamma Ye EP On VillaHangar
This project represents a true dive into the depths of human emotions, a sonic journey that transcends words and relies entirely on the power of music. The idea behind ‘Yamma Ye’ is complex and fascinating. Sinvergüenza aimed to transmit a wave of pure energy through the targeted use of specific sound frequencies. Released 10 Years Ago: Lovers On The Sun – David Guetta ft. Sam Martin
2014 was a great year for EDM providing us with some absolute classics and ‘Lovers On The Sun’ stands among the best songs to come out that year. This track from two of the biggest powerhouses in music, David Guetta and Avicii, would have huge success in the charts reaching the number one spot in the official top 40 in 4 countries. It has gone on to become an icon of electronic music much like the names behind making it. Though uncredited on the record, Avicii co-produced ‘Lovers On The Sun’ alongside David Guetta which would be their second collaboration following on from their timeless hit ‘Sunshine’ which earned them a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording. Both of them would continue to have huge success over the next few years including Avicii releasing his first album ‘True’ where he would pioneer his ground-breaking mix of country and electronic music. When it came to them pairing back up for ‘Lovers On The Sun’, it’s clear that the Swedish DJ brought along this new style to inject into the track. The blending of styles on this track is nothing short of perfection as it effortlessly switches between a country vibe that would feel at home in a cowboy film to going full on EDM in the choruses. The guitar melody is simply unforgettable, and the vocals provided by Sam Martin really elevate the track to the next level. With the sheer talent on this record, it was always destined to be a classic and it certainly didn’t fail in that as 10 years on from its release we’re still listening to this gem from the golden era of EDM.

The Day Trip Festival Just Nailed Its Fourth SoCal Edition At The Queen Mary Waterfront
The 2024 edition of Day Trip Festival at Queen Mary Waterfront in Southern California was the perfect start of the summer season, full of unforgettable performances, cutting-edge stage productions, and new venue enhancements. From local LA talent to global electronic music powerhouses, the lineup boasted an impressive array of artists left attendees in awe. With mind-melting performances from the likes of Kaskade, Boys Noize, Mau P, Patrick Topping, and more, this year’s festival was a true celebration of sunny weather, music and creativity. One of the standout moments of the festival was the surprise back-to-back set by Cloonee and Green Velvet on Saturday night. The collaboration between these two talented artists was intense and rare, leaving fans buzzing with excitement. As the music vibrated through the venue, it was clear that Day Trip 2024 was shaping up to be another Insomniac event to remember. But the excitement didn’t stop there. The festival organizers had also implemented a number of new venue enhancements to make the experience even better for attendees. With cutting-edge stage production, increased shade structures, and more restroom facilities, Day Trip 2024 was set to be the biggest and best edition yet. Performances to Remember Saylor Nedelman for Insomniac. One of the standout moments of Day Trip 2024 was the performance by Amsterdam superstar DJ Mau P, fresh off his viral, weekend closing set at Insomniac’s Camp EDC on Sunday. The energy he brought to the stage was infectious, with the crowd hanging on to every beat and melody. And let’s not forget about genre-bending visionary Patrick Topping on Saturday, who took the audience on a musical journey unlike any other. Boys Noize, the techno-punk boy, pushed the boundaries of electronic music with his high-energy set, blending hard-hitting beats with experimental sounds that kept the audience on their feet. One of the standout moments of the festival was the surprise back-to-back set by Cloonee and Green Velvet. This unexpected collaboration took the energy to new heights, with the two artists seamlessly blending their sounds and delivering a performance that left fans in awe. The chemistry between the two artists was palpable, and the crowd was left buzzing long after the set ended. Enhanced Venue Experience Jamal Eid for Insomniac Aside from the incredible music, Day Trip 2024 also focused on enhancing the overall festival experience for attendees. With new cutting-edge stage production, the festival brought some of the biggest and most visually stunning stage designs to date. The combination of music and visuals created a sensory overload that left fans in a state of euphoria. In addition to the stage production, Day Trip also increased the number of shade structures throughout the festival grounds. With the Southern California sun beating down, these shaded areas provided much-needed respite for attendees looking to cool off and recharge before diving back into the music. And let’s not forget about the 25% increase in restroom facilities. Long lines for bathrooms are a common gripe at music festivals, but Day Trip made sure to address this issue by providing more facilities for attendees. This small but significant improvement made a big difference in the overall comfort and convenience of festival-goers. Zedd Files Restraining Order Against Alleged Home Intruder
Zedd has reportedly filed a restraining order with a Los Angeles court against a woman who allegedly showed up and harassed the DJ at his home. The Grammy-winning producer claims that Rezwan Senobarian, who he has never met, came to his Encino home multiple times this week and behaved "erratically," demanding to talk to him, per court documents obtained by TMZ. Senobarian is also said to have falsely impersonated Zedd by phone and email to a number of people. Zedd ultimately called the LAPD to apprehend Senobarian and is now seeking a temporary restraining order against the woman, who also reportedly harassed his personal assistant and security guards. In other news, Zedd, one of the most popular electronic dance music artists in Spotify history, last week released a new track, "Out of Time." It's first single from Telos, his first album in nearly a decade, which is scheduled to release on August 30th. He's now set to take Telos on an eponymous U.S. tour, which he'll kick off in early-September by headlining a doubleheader of his curated "Zedd In The Park" event at Los Angeles State Historic Park. Senobarian has not been formally charged of a crime at the time of this article's publication.

Unpacking BLUPRNT: Exploring His Distinctive EDM Sound
If there’s one algorithm that truly understands my love for EDM, it’s Spotify. It’s been 18 months since the music streaming platform introduced me to BLUPRNT, a Chicago-based House music DJ and producer, and I can confidently say that my life has been more vivid and upbeat ever since. Spotify’s recommendation led me to follow BLUPRNT on Instagram, where he frequently goes live to share his latest musical creations. I was super excited when we connected, eventually leading to him agreeing to my very first interview for EDM House Network. Using the elements that comprise creating an EDM track, let me paint a picture of BLUPRNT’s unique sound, likened to the stages of cooking bacon: Intro: BLUPRNT, like a master chef, prepares thick strips of bacon in a sizzling cast iron skillet. Build-Up: The bacon simmers, soaking up the rich, sizzling grease. Drop: It reaches that critical point where each strip is infused with savory flavors that your taste buds crave as the aroma fills the air. Breakdown: Flipping each strip to lock in the juicy goodness. Chorus/Hook: The satisfying moment when BLUPRNT’s skills earn your applause. Outro: Even after finishing, you crave more, hitting replay on BLUPRNT’s tracks. How did the remix of Bebe Rexha’s ‘Chase It’ come about? I have always been a big fan of Bebe Rexha’s music and really loved her new track ‘Chase It’, so I decided to put a BLUPRNT spin on it. I was really trying to give it this dark tech house feel that I could play out at shows. Can you walk us through your creative process, or do you find that it varies? I started producing back in 2015 while in high school. I had gotten a cracked version of Ableton and began messing around with it. For a good year I was flat out awful and nothing I made sounded good, however I was loving what I was doing. Like anything it takes a while to learn. For the first few year I was making future bass and pop EDM music but in 2020 decided to start creating house music and formed BLUPRNT. Do you play any musical instruments? I dabble with the piano! I took piano lessons when I was a kid but quit after about a year. My mom always said I would regret and here I am today wishing I stuck with it! What triggers your creativity when creating a beat? I think once I have a groove and baseline that I like I can build from there. I always start there and once I love that as a standalone, I can build a song around it! Do you handle every aspect of creating your tracks, or are there other parties involved in the process? I handle both the production and engineering on almost everything! Occasionally I will outsource the engineering on a track, but I tend to like to do it on my own because I know exactly what sound I am going for. It’s a lot of work but I also have fun doing it and its very satisfying when I have a finished product. You’re currently touring in NY and Santa Barbara. Can we expect more shows for Summer’24? Yes! I just announced my ‘Goin’ Wild Tour ‘ which will cover several cities in NY, CA, Philly, and Minneapolis! This is my first official tour and really hope to build off this one and hit more cities in the fall! There may be one or two more adds to this summer tour so be on the lookout! How did your collaboration with Sherm on the track ‘Real Life’ come about? Sherm has been a good friend for several years now. When I first moved to Chicago, he was someone who gave me my first opportunity with shows in the city and signed several of my tracks to Hood Politics. We had talked about getting a track going together for a couple years and it finally came together with ‘Real Life’. We had a blast making it together and are excited how’s its performed. What have been some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a DJ so far? Getting your name out there and building an authentic fan base is the toughest part. You really need to find a way to connect with people and I have found that people can see through any BS. I have tried to be my authentic self and engage with everyone. Tik Tok has been huge with doing this and a great way to post content that you wouldn’t normally post on Instagram. Is there another artist you dream of collaborating with in the future? Two artists that I have always looked up to are Matroda and Ship Wrek. Both of them are unbelievable producers and it would be so fun to get in the studio with them. Are you doubling as the DJ for your upcoming wedding, or did your fiancée veto that idea? (BTW, Congratulations!) My Fiancée has vetoed a BLUPRNT takeover of the wedding unfortunately. However, I have negotiated the after party, so we’ll have some Afters with BLUPRNT! Discover BLUPRNT’s flavorful beats by clicking the icons below YouTube Soundcloud Spotify Instagram

MRAK unveils a six-track EP ‘The Pledge’ on Afterlife
We heard it for the first time back at Coachella 2023. More than a year later, The Pledge, the 6-track EP by Tale Of Us member Carmine Conte, MRAK, is finally here. Released under their own Afterlife Recordings, the EP contained long-awaited tunes such as Their Law. It’s been a long journey you can say but, trust me, it’s worth it. Kicking off with The World Is Yours where MRAK introduces monumental and church-like elements like organs and a mysterious baseline. On top of that brave vocals complete the tune. Sombre piano keys and urgent strings accompany energetic synth layers. brave is a long-time Afterlife friend as he sang on Innellea and Colyn Downfall and 8Kays Basic, part of Realm of Consciousness Pt. VI. Following up The Process goes dark and eerie. It is built on a hypnotic low end, supporting a solid melody that increases in intensity as the track develops. The tune, as the whole EP, supports this ethereal feeling of mystical elements dancing around you. Then the drop brings you back into the club. This one is probably the most awaited MRAK single of the last 2 years or so. Their Law, premiered for the first time at Coachella 2023, has become a must-play on all Tale Of Us and MRAK sets. He teams up with David Lindmer, crafting an undulating track with captivating melodies and harmonies. Having toured around the world, the energetic and powerful drop always makes the dancefloor explore. It shifts a bit from the transcendental mood of the EP bringing some festival energy to the whole EP. Portal brings the listener back to its roots. With a shady and wobbling baseline and the iconic hypnotic synth. With Portal the realm of consciousness beckons us in, with a vigorous vocal reverberating intermittently, complementing the dark bassline and bright synth lines. On The Flame MRAK teams up again with braev, but, this time Wasiu joins the party as well. The song introduces the path for the ending of the EP and it utilizes a heartfelt vocal alongside a spoken-word segment, striking the balance between emotion and high energy. Never Ends is the perfect closing of the EP, keeping the door open for what will come next. With Omnya on remix duty, the main melody provides an uplifting vibration, juxtaposed with the unclearer elements of this journey to the close of the EP. As one of the founders of Afterlife, MRAK has introduced a sharp and elegant but distinctive musical equation to the label. On The Pledge, he presented six compositions, all bound to the Afterlife ethos. The whole EP is out now. Tale Of Us and Afterlife has also announced a no-phone policy for the Hi Ibiza Residency as well as the return after 5 years at their spiritual home, Milan. MRAK’s latest EP was Manifesto back in 2023. The post MRAK unveils a six-track EP ‘The Pledge’ on Afterlife appeared first on The Groove Cartel.

EDMTunes New Music Friday – Week 26
Listen to the most flavour-packed tracks we discovered this week. Music makes the world go round. And in that regard, we’re constantly on the lookout for new, exciting tunes to share with our audience. We’ve found some that cause goosebumps, and make you open your eyes and get up from your chair to dance. So put on your best pair of headphones, or turn up your speakers, and enjoy this week’s New Music Friday. Here are our top picks for the best music we came across this week, in no particular order. Lost Wolves, Chase Bell & Randella – Shine Genre: Future Bass, Chillstep This week we have a bunch of new music which we’re very excited to share with you all. And kicking off the long list is a threeway Future Bass collaboration that joins the sounds of three very talented artists: California-bound producer Lost Wolves, and two amazing vocalists — Chase Bell, and Randella. Pairing unplugged guitar sections, warm strings, the soft voice of Randella against Chase’s at-times lower register, and the powerful melodic base supporting everything, ‘Shine‘ comes to take the shape of an epic arrangement, and a more-than-sure deserved return of Lost Wolves to the mythical Lost in Dreams imprint. Denis Sulta – If Only I Knew Genre: Trance, Classic Trance Continuing with this week’s NMF, we have Scottish producer and DJ Denis Sulta. A key player on House, Techno and Disco grounds, he’s been walking the world club by club, and gig by gig. After playing Tomorrowland, ADE, Printworks, and Cercle’s Paris Open Air Festival earlier this year, he’s secured a spot on the latter’s imprint for a truly wonderful piece. In a faster lane, yet without losing a single drop of elegance, Sulta presents his latest single, ‘If Only I Knew‘. A beautiful Classic Trance song, it masterfully revives all the offbeat warm bass notes and detuned leads we love from yesteryear in a surgical-like manner, to achieve a mint result. Aren’t we all lovers of the comeback of golden Trance? Fritz Kalkbrenner – Into The Night Genre: Deep House, Classic House Celebrated both in the global Dace scene and in Pop culture, Fritz Kalkbrenner makes a triumphant return to EDMTunes after his appearance on one of November’s NMFs. He’s now shared a lovely track he likes to call ‘Into The Night‘, which remains true to his iconic Deep House sound. You’d recognise his influence even if blindfolded. It’s that energy and that philosophy of just enough elements. It’s a complicated formula to pull off, but Fritz has mastered the art by now. It takes us back to those ‘Sky and Sand’ days, when the hit single, built alongside his brother Paul Kalkbrenner, stayed in the German charts for a remarkable 129 weeks and got into the worldwide Pop culture. Bit & Byte – Beneath the Mask Genre: Psytrance, Trance You know a special product on the spot, and that’s exactly what happened to us when coming across ‘Beneath the Mask‘. A minute in, and we were hooked. It didn’t take long to find out why. As the duo Bit & Byte tell us, “Kenji Kawai, the composer of the famous chorus of Ghost in the Shell, allowed us to re-record the chorus and make a new song out of it“. Bingo. It’s epic, it’s powerful, it’s unique. The boys took an already renowned vocal sample and turned it into a Psytrance gem. I know we tend to share shorter songs in this NMF format, but you have to live the full 8-minute journey on this one. Give it a try. There’s even a specially-mixed Dolby Atmos cut if you so wish. Are you a producer and you want your song featured on EDMTunes? Follow this link right here. Siks – Without You Genre: Melodic Techno, Progressive House A rising star in Electronic music, French DJ and producer Siks loves a good blend of genres. His sweet spot is fusing the best of Electro House, Future House and Pop, showcasing how easy it is for him to intertwine sounds and influences together. Backed by industry heavyweights and signed to major labels, he’s amassed a global following. ‘Without You‘ is Siks’ latest, and the blend this time involves the aforementioned, but sprinkled over an intense Melodic-Techno-flavoured dish. The key here lies in seasoning the base with a more Pop-leaning vocal, borrowing a fatter, heavier kick, and some swing for the higher percussion, to achieve a properly banging sound. Trye feat. ILITSYA – One More Time Genre: Hardstyle Fueled by a passion for music ignited in his youth, Trye, a Hardstyle DJ and producer, has carved a unique sonic niche since 2017. Fusing emotive melodies with powerful kicks and raw sounds, he’s captivated audiences and garnered support from industry giants. Today’s release certainly puts him back into the spotlight and makes you dream about how the future of the Harder genres will look and sound like. Just in time for Defqon.1 Weekend, Trye unleashed a little bomb called ‘One More Time‘. Featuring the vocals of one of the leading voices in Hardstyle, ILITSYA, the single can only be defined as a Euphoric masterpiece in all its glory. Powerful enough to mosh to it, but melodic enough to feel that electrifying rush of adrenaline through your body, this one could become a Summer anthem. Keep your eyes peeled. NGHTMRE & Big Gigantic pres. Gigantic NGHTMRE – Back For More (Darby Remix) Genre: Bass House, UK Garage We’ve been vibing to NGHTMRE and Big Gigantic‘s conjoint alias Gigantic NGHTMRE for a while now, and since the remixes for the LP are now out, we took a peek. Sure enough, there’s even more material to vibe to for the weeks ahead. For now, though, let’s look at what Aussie powerhouse Darby has done. If you were looking for an oomphy tune, here it is for you. Put on your best lemon face, because Darby took the band’s ‘Back For More‘ for a spin. A Bass-heavy fast-paced House spin, in fact. Not that the original was particularly weak by any means, but this revamp? Oof… You’d better get ready. TIM CLARK – Feel You Now Genre: Trance, Techno Energetic. Buoyant. Celebratory. DJ and producer TIM CLARK is back with a summer anthem guaranteed to get you moving. ‘Feel You Now‘ is a bouncy, energetic Dance track bursting with positive vibes. WHIPPED CREAM Bares Her Soul In New EP, "Is This Real?"
Everyone knows that life is full of lessons. Not everyone knows, however, how to channel those lessons and the emotions that come with them into impactful music. That's what WHIPPED CREAM has done with her new EP, is this real?, imbuing a new dimension to her sound. The project, she says, was penned during the "darkest time" of her life. "I think many times people ask themselves in good or bad situations, 'Is this really happening? Is this really my life?'" WHIPPED CREAM said in a press release. "During that dark point I had to find all the blessings in my life and hold on tight, know that God had the best intentions for me, and that everything was happening for a reason." The EP starts off with "real 4 me," a collaboration with BKAYE that mourns a past relationship. Asking the age-old question of what went wrong, the two create a spritely dreamscape wrapped in a four-on-the-floor beat. WHIPPED CREAM follows with "about you," exploring the wild speculation and painful nostalgia associated with the emotions of its predecessor. A hyperactive beat takes over at the drop, with Showjoe spitting lyrics that highlight the helplessness of wanting a lost love back. "Promises" (with Trent Madison) illuminates the post-breakup questioning of whether or not you really knew someone. WHIPPED CREAM, in her own ethereal vocal tone, asks point-blank, "How long 'til you tell me who you are?" Perhaps the most striking track of the EP is less so a song for a dancefloor, and more so a lament on WHIPPED CREAM's part. "is this real? (interlude)" harkens back to her father's stage-four prostate cancer diagnosis, the vulnerable track serving as a vehicle to express her mental processes. After a voicemail sample from her dad, she repeatedly chants, "In a moment it could all go away," giving us a moment of introspection to contemplate the phrase's weight. Later she expresses, "I'd rather feel this way than nothing," sending a powerful and emotionally validating message. WHIPPED CREAM.Tatum MacLean Next comes "still," which follows in the impassioned footsteps of the preceding tracks, but with a curiously hopeful tone. A euphoric melody and hopeful message lie within WHIPPED CREAM's vocals, marking an emotional turning point in the process of working through unfortunate situations. At the end of the EP, the woozy track "life is not a crime" finds Sjayy spitting a bold and lustful message that juxtaposes WHIPPED CREAM's wistful vocals, repeatedly begging, "Let me love you." Lastly, "love is not enough" starts with a downtempo beat before bringing the project home with an intense drum & bass sequence. The release of is this real? comes ahead of WHIPPED CREAM's North American tour in the fall. Check out the new EP below and find it on streaming platforms here. Flashmob Announces Debut Album Sundown, Lifts First Single ‘Twin Flames’
Some pretty heated hybrid House tracks are coming your way this autumn. Great news for all House lovers out there! Today, Irish-Italian DJ and producer Flashmob has announced he’s been crafting a longer piece of content, in what will become his debut artist album, Sundown. Alongside the announcement, he’s lifted the first single out of the LP, ‘Twin Flames‘. A future-focused Electronic musician, Flashmob blends 90s influences with fresh sounds. After success with tracks like ‘Need In Me’ and ‘Watch Me’, he’s not resting on his laurels, and is instead extending this philosophy over to his record label, Flashmob Records. A true point of interest of his while showcasing his craft is achieving a result the crowd can sense and understand as authentic, so that the dancefloor moments are enjoyed in their entirety. ‘Twin Flames’ The single out today, ‘Twin Flames‘, is Flashmob’s first nugget of content towards Sundown, his first-ever album, which is arriving in October. He describes the LP as an exploration of his own soul, and a way to share the music that brings him peace. Sundown was not planned either. As Flashmob himself recalls: “Covid had obliged me to reset, stay home and think about who I am, what I do and mainly why I do it. Why did I decide to get into this in the first place? It wasn’t to be famous nor to make money… I was only looking for happiness”. Why unveil ‘Twin Flames’ before any other track? Flashmob explains it embodies the core reason behind creating the album. He says it represents liberation from creative restrictions, allowing him to produce a song that he’s been given by a singer. “To make it how it is supposed to be — without following a trend, without imposition, and without a label in mind. Just complete freedom, and this is why it’s the first single: it’s a statement“. Just complete freedom, and this is why it’s the first single: it’s a statement. -Flashmob, on releasing ‘Twin Flames’ ahead of the album. Long-time collaborator, Laila Walker, provides the soulful vocals which sit on top of a stripped-back production, allowing the finer details to take centre stage in this groovy, late-night cut. Walker, whose career credits include touring with Beverley Knight, adds a real depth of emotion to the collaboration, enabling the deeply personal approach that Flashmob has taken with the album to shine through on every beat. She describes ‘Twin Flames’ as “a song about meeting a kindred spirit whilst being under the influence of anything and everything. It’s about the recognition of another’s soul at a time when you’re tipsy, honest and vulnerable. It’s about speaking that truth simply because it can’t stay in anymore. It needs to come out with some urgency. It’s a story of the night and open to every interpretation. It’s about telling a secret out loud, accidentally on purpose and momentarily not caring about the consequences”. Listen to Flashmob and Laila Walker‘s brand-new ‘Twin Flames‘, a first insight into a future Autumn favourite, his Sundown LP. [INTERVIEW] DIM KELLY Talks Music Production, Latest ADID EP, And More
We recently had a chat with one of the most prolific producers in Organic House. House music is a beautiful thing. And perhaps the most delicate branch of House is Organic House, a genre known for its subtle melodies, progressive-evolving nature, and, of course, a bunch of organic elements, from percussion to real instruments, ambience, and so much more. Out of Organic House, one of the leading record labels currently atop the game is Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream (ADID), and out of All Day I Dream, we sat down with one of the best exponents of their sound. That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, we got the chance to interview DIM KELLY. He who’s been releasing a bunch of stuff lately and is on his fourth consecutive year gracing the ADID grounds with original tracks, is now enjoying a bit of rest and unwind after a North America tour and a three-tracker signed to Lee’s, the Homily EP. And so we’ve asked him a few burning questions we had been holding for a while! From acknowledging his class and quality to inspirations, struggles, favourites, and everything in between — buckle up, and read on, as we dive into the mind of DIM KELLY. The Interview Do you remember a time in your career when you first had that feeling, while producing, that you had something truly magical in your hands? I remember when I composed the sketch of ‘Nocturna Animal’ and Kid Crème stopped by my studio and said, “Whoa, that’s really good!“, which was extremely rare for him to say. We were living together at the time. We both had this little challenge of wanting to create a track in the style of Pepe Bradock’s ‘Deep Burnt’, which we had listened to a lot at home, and he said to me, “You’re ALMOST holding your Pepe Bradock“, hahaha. Out of everything that has come to you via your music career, what’s one thing you didn’t expect would happen and surprised you for the good? That I would be able to bring people together and share on stage. Honestly, I have always been very comfortable in my studio, and the idea of putting myself out there as the center of attention scared me, it was almost paralyzing. But in the end, I’ve learned that something magical happens on stage! I receive a lot of feedback from people who love the vibes and tell me that I radiate positive energy. I’m still surprised whenever I hear this, and it still takes me ten minutes to stop trembling when I get behind the DJ booth every time. So yes, I really threw myself into what scared me the most, and the result is amazing. In fact, I love it! So yes, I really threw myself into what scared me the most, and the result is amazing. In fact, I love it! -DIM KELLY Where, or when, do you feel inspired to start new ideas? Anywhere and anytime, and when it comes, you have to catch it because it can leave as quickly as it arrived. Of course, listening to music helps a lot. When I’m in a club, I pick up on the grooves that work, so it’s pretty important to listen to others in the club. In my everyday life, I listen to a lot of rock, folk, classical music, and electronic, but very little actual club music. All of these genres inspire me immensely, as I try to bring an emotional dimension to my music. What would you consider your biggest struggle while working on a track? Creating a structure that works, taking people on a journey, and finding the right balance between the energy of the break and the drop. Plus, I don’t really like using the trick of silence between the end of the break and the drop… so that makes things more complicated. I know this is a tough one but, if you had to pick your favourite track from your discography, which one would it be? Maybe ‘Glow’, because it has a seemingly simple, self-evident quality that’s actually hard to achieve. It just came to me, and it happened very quickly. In a few hours, the track was done, which is pretty rare for me. Plus, its style is timeless; it could have been released ten years ago or ten years from now. Who knows, maybe one day it will become a classic. Tell us a bit about how your most recent Homily EP came to be, how it all entwined during the creation of the three tracks. I didn’t really plan to create three tracks for my next EP all at once. I tend to work a lot; I’m in my studio almost every day for eight to ten hours per. I composed ‘Rising Child’ in winter, during a period when I was listening to a lot of classical music and wanted to create something orchestral, but which still bordered on club music — essentially, a club track to listen to at home. I’ve been working with Maya Safar for a long time. We’ve had several collaborations together, some of which have been released on All Day I Dream. I love her voice and lyrics; she has a powerful soul. We have other tracks together that we haven’t released yet, but they’re more folk than electronic oriented. Someday, I think I’ll do a folk EP with Maya. As for ‘Homily’, a friend once played me a track he made with Mondingo, and I was totally struck by his voice and melodies. So, I contacted Mondingo and visited his beautiful studio by a river in the Belgian countryside. It was incredibly inspiring! We created a track together there, which I think will also be released soon with All Day I Dream. When I got back home, I had the instrumental for ‘Homily’. I sent it to him, and two days later, he sent back his vocals, which I loved. I then spent a month trying to piece everything together, finding the right structure, the perfect break, and the ideal drop. I’m not a pianist, so I do all my piano parts with a mouse, which takes an insane amount of time because I have to imagine things without hearing them. But that’s just how I work. If you could go back in time, say, 5, 10 or more years. Was there anything young Dim worried about more than necessary? What would you tell him to do, or not to do? Stop thinking and release your tracks! How do you think your life would look like had you not ventured into the musical path? I think I would have worked in visual arts, probably drawing, because it’s what I’ve been doing since I was young and it’s also what I was studying before meeting Kid Crème, who completely steered me off course, haha, for the better in the end. (End of the interview) Final Words We’re incredibly thankful for this interview. It’s always not only interesting but also nurturing to hear things from another point of view, and even more so when the words come from an artist as passionate and talented as Dim. Thank you to him and the team behind who made this one happen. We truly hope you can get something from this interview and apply it to your life — I know I do! Keep in touch with DIM KELLY by following him on his socials. Also, be sure to check out his latest Homily EP, right here. And stay tuned to our page for the latest news and views from our beloved Dance music industry. MRAK Unveils New Six-Track Collection With The Pledge
MRAK unveils a six-track collection of new material with The Pledge EP. As one of the founders of Afterlife, he is now reshaping its paradigm. He introduces a sharp and elegant, but distinctive musical equation. These six compositions, all bound to the Afterlife ethos. This EP follows the release of previous ones including One and Manifesto. Firstly, ‘The World Is Yours‘ featuring vocalist braev combines somber piano keys and urgent strings alongside energetic synth layers. It’s got a dark, brooding tone befitting the Afterlife brand. Secondly, ‘The Process‘ works from a hypnotic low end, supporting a solid melody that increases in intensity as the track develops. For ‘Their Law‘, MRAK teams up with David Lindmer, crafting an undulating track with captivating melodies and harmonies. With ‘Portal’, the realm of consciousness beckons us in. The female vocal reverberates intermittently, complementing the dark bassline and bright synth lines. ‘The Flame’ again features braev and Canadian vocalist Wasiu for a three-way collaboration steeped in emotion. It utilizes a heartfelt vocal alongside a spoken-word segment, striking the balance between emotion and high energy. Lastly, MRAK collaborates with Omnya on the remix of ‘Never Ends’. The main melody provides an uplifting vibration, juxtaposed with the darker elements of this journey to the close of the EP. “This is a snapshot of my reality. It is a composition, a challenge, that I took not knowing the outcome and its price – the amount of logical mazes I had to overcome and I still am. The biggest honour and most humble experience is the possibility to feel any sparkle of emotion, providing fragments of the music and the reality that I’ve developed as an artist over the years. My imprint soul and commitment to melody are adamant, as is the pledge to deliver and be loyal to this abstract entity called music; that gently accompanies our lives.” MRAK aka Carmine Conte aka the enigmatic half of Tale of Us, spent more than two decades in the music industry. His compressive body of work focused on the evolution of house. Now with more clout through Afterlife, his rich history of hard work stretches to the beyond. Together, Take of Us receives global recognition. Apart, ANYMA and MRAK master their own fate. And altogether, they make the Afterlife a techno haven through events and their releases. Did Diplo Throw an Illegal Party in an Environmentally Sensitive Part of Ibiza?
That’s the question that local law enforcement on the White Isle are asking as they look into American DJ Diplo for allegedly hosting an unauthorized party in an environmentally protected area. The event took place on June 24 at the Cala d’Hort viewpoint in Sant Josep de sa Talaia, overlooking the iconic Es Vedrà. Promoted by Diplo on social media, the party drew significant attention after photos outed the hundreds of people that attended. The consequences for Diplo could be severe if he is found responsible. Reports suggest he may face a fine of up to €300,000 (around $321,500 USD) for organizing the event. Both the City Council and Policía Local de Sant Josep are conducting the investigation. Community Reaction The incident sparked widespread attention and controversy in the electronic dance music and local Ibiza communities. Many Ibiza residents voiced anger on social media, commenting on Diplo’s posts with messages like “Respect Ibiza!” and “Shame!” The Sant Josep City Council condemned the party, emphasizing the location’s protected status and environmental vulnerability. Ocio de Ibiza, a hospitality and nightlife association, issued a statement criticizing the event as “tremendously damaging to the leisure sector on the island.” Local authorities highlighted risks from illegal activities, including fire hazards, noise pollution, waste, and attendee endangerment.
