Label Spotlight: Evil Sky
Hi, Who are you? Hey, I’m Drone an electronic artist out of Bristol and this is my new baby Evil Sky. What’s your ethos? The ethos of the label is to release all sorts of electronic music and not to be confined to one specific genre. Whether that’s club music or stuff that’s a bit weirder and more experimental. I see the start of this project as a blank canvas, there are no rules for how to approach it and I almost feel like I’m starting from scratch again but in a good way. The idea behind it was to be a home for my own productions and to build something to allow me to keep developing as an artist and try and push the envelope and dip my toes into other realms if you like. The whole thing is really exciting to me and I’m looking forward to seeing it develop in the years to come. Tell us your origin story… I had been toying with the idea of setting up my own imprint for a little while. I never really wanted to start a label and sign other people’s music it was more just wanting to create a home for my own productions and to keep pushing myself as a producer. A place where I can continue to evolve and release music that excites me. I see Evil Sky more as an extension of myself than a label. After speaking with friends and showing them some of my ideas the general feedback I got was “What are you waiting for?” So at the start of 2024, I began putting things in motion and got the ball rolling. Where are you based? Tell us about your local scene… I’m based in Bristol. I enjoy living here, the city has so much to offer music-wise and also outside of music. The local scene here is pretty healthy for all sorts of genres and there are so many artists and labels doing really great stuff. When I first came to Bristol I remember seeing labels like Bandulu, Sector 7, Hotline etc. with this whole DIY ethos. They were pressing records, throwing in-store parties at Idle Hands and over the years they’ve put together some of the sickest club nights and shows I’ve ever been to. For me, that stuff was super inspiring. After becoming good friends with people like Boofy, Hi5, Kahn & Neek and seeing the blood, sweat and tears these guys were putting into their music and their releases it really fired me up and gave me this hunger to push myself too. I’ll never forget some of those early Bandulu in stores at Idle Hands. Being able to walk down the road and link up with all sorts of people at those parties was so sick. Stuff like that created a real sense of community within Bristol and opened me up to so much stuff at a young age. I have definitely seen changes over the years with clubs and venues closing which can be absolutely heartbreaking at times, however for me Bristol is still such a hub for all sorts of music and I find it a really inspiring place to live. Do you have a specific sound or vibe? I guess maybe for my own productions there is a certain sound that I have developed over the years. The goal for Evil Sky however is to release all sorts of stuff and not to be associated with just one particular sound or style. Personally, I love all sorts of electronic music and always will do but then as well as that side of things I like to listen to a lot of rap and hip hop and also listen to a lot of bands and heavier sort of music. I see Evil Sky as a big melting pot that I can chuck all sorts of stuff into and see what comes out. Do you have a regular artist roster- who can we see releasing with you? For now, it’s just going to be for my own releases and stuff that I make with friends. The next release has a couple of vocals on it which I’m really excited about. One of those vocals is with Nottingham MC Kyeza who I’ve been a big fan of for a while now. There’s just something about MCs from Notts that I love. I feel like Nottingham gets overlooked regularly as it’s not one of the big main cities in the UK but the amount of sick MCs from there is ridiculous. Getting Notts MCs on hard electronic beats is something that I’ve been experimenting with for the last couple of years and this next one that I’ve got lined up for 002 is something I’m really proud of. Tell us about your A&R process… To be honest there isn’t really one at the minute. As mentioned before for now it’s just going to be a place for me to put out my own tunes with some collabs and vocal bits here and there. I want to make the whole process as natural and true to myself as possible so for now it’s just a one man band. What makes you different from other labels? I guess as it’s just myself at the minute it’s less about comparing myself to other labels and more about getting my head down and putting out stuff that I love and stuff that I find exciting. If that resonates with people then that’s a bonus. There are so many labels popping up these days I feel like things often get oversaturated and stale quite easily. People often look to quantity rather than quality. I’m trying to avoid that at all costs and just continue to put out music that I love and present it in the way that I want. What does it take to run a bass music label in 2024? I think it’s important to put out quality music that’s fresh and original. People often see a certain formula or sound that works so they try to replicate that. Take a risk and try something different and who knows it might just pay off. Certain things age better than others for sure, but for me, it’s about longevity and creating a sick back catalogue that you can look back on when you’re old and really be proud of. What have you got coming up that we should look out for? I’ve just dropped my first EP on the label which is called Airtight. The EP is made up of 3 cuts which are all quite different from each other. This first release is a great example of where I’m at right now as a producer and the sort of things I wanna push going forward. That’s available now on digital + vinyl. I’ve got some vocal tunes coming on 002 and then something a bit different lined up for 003. Follow Evil Sky

Spotify Is Testing a New In-App Emergency Alert System
Spotify is stepping into new territory by testing emergency alerts, TechCrunch reports. Initially uncovered by technologist Chris Messina, the feature is being considered as a way to make Spotify a more essential app to its users. The tech, which reportedly includes a feature to disseminate public announcements about local accidents and serious events, is currently being tested in the company's home market in Sweden. Messina believes that the streaming giant will encourage users to enable push notifications for their app, making it more of a necessity. According to TechCrunch, users often disable alerts on "non-essential" apps, making it harder for them to capture users' attention when marketing new features. "At Spotify, we routinely conduct a number of tests in an effort to improve our user experience," a Spotify representative told TechCrunch. "Some of those tests end up paving the way for our broader user experience while most serve only as an important learning." Whether the emergency alert feature will ultimately roll out to Spotify's global user base remains to be seen. The company has not yet formally revealed the feature at the time of this writing.

These Noise-Cancelling Headphones for Dogs Can Also Play Relaxing Tunes for Them
Tired of saying goodbye to your pup when you go to a show or music festival? Well, you may opt to bring them right along thanks to PAWNIX's noise-cancelling headphones for dogs. The headphones appear to a be a full-on helmet, with stretchy material and a chin strap to keep the device snug and comfortable on the ever-active dog. They are stated on the company's site to have many uses, from dogs' PTSD recovery to protection from loud noises such as fireworks and storms. PAWNIX headphones also have a built-in feature they call "The Electronic," which is a Bluetooth-connective device inserted into the headphones. Dog parents can then play music to calm their furry friends, turning a "ruff" day into a rejuvenating one. And if you don't know what music to play for your pup? The site has a section for that, offering recommendations and explanations for each selected classical song. View the original article to see embedded media. The inspiration for this invention is given a dedicated page on the PAWNIX website, and her name is Emma. The brand educates interested buyers of the statistics of lost dogs during the 4th of July and shares an incident that motivated the headphones' conception. Now Emma and dogs everywhere can enjoy fireworks, thunderstorms and loud shows in a comfortable and im-paws-ibly cute fashion. PAWNIX's noise-cancelling headphones appeared on the 13th season of ABC's Shark Tank, when all of the Sharks found Emma to be the cutest (and record-breakingly oldest) dog they'd had on the show. While the company failed to secure an investment, it did ultimately get an endorsement from billionaire Mark Cuban. Sizing of PAWNIX headphones range from XS to XL so that dogs of all sizes can enjoy your favorite ear-splitting activities with you. Check out the headphones on the PAWNIX website.

Anfisa Letyago Reveals Debut of Mermaid-Inspired Live Audiovisual Show, "Partenope"
Known for her characteristically industrial and acid-inspired brand of techno, Anfisa Letyago, a member of the EDM.com Class of 2022, is stepping into a new dimension with both her music and a new groundbreaking live show. Her latest single "Origami" folds soundscapes like delicate paper and ushers us to a place where melodic techno flutters with playful elegance. Evoking the intricacies of the ancient art form itself, the track sees Letyago embrace a shapeshifting electronic-pop sound that diverges from her roots with playfully pitched-up vocals, warm kick drums and sparkling synth textures. She describes it as an exploration of energy and transformation, mirroring the delicate yet precise folds of paper into a refined creation. Accompanying the release, Letyago has announced she's teamed up with renowned AI artist Guisy Amoroso, also known as Marigoldff, to develop an innovative audiovisual live show, "Partenope." View the original article to see embedded media. Inspired by the ancient Greek myth of a mermaid discovered off the coast of Naples, the show embraces an immersive underwater theme by blending Letyago's love of the sea with Amoroso’s surrealist visual artistry. Using advanced 3D scanning technology, the DJ is transformed into a mermaid, bringing the legend to life in a mesmerizing display that's set to premiere at August's Red Valley Festival in Sardinia. Sara Landry and Alex Farell Conjure a Sonic Storm With New Single, "Prisoner"
Daring listeners to break free from their own constraints, Sara Landry's new single "Prisoner" unleashes a torrent of intensity. The EDM.com Class of 2024 star, fans of whom affectionately call the "High Priestess of Hard Techno," has released the latest single from her debut album alongside 17-year-old UK producer Alex Farell. Pummeling kicks and rapid-fire techno synths collide in Landry's vortex of warped distortion, building an atmosphere that's both punishing and exhilarating while pushing boundaries with an unyielding force. As its trunk-thumping rhythms gallop forward, the track's vocals embrace themes of cutting loose from one's limitations. The creation of "Prisoner" was both spontaneous and seamless, beginning with a text message from Landry to Farell when the latter landed in Amsterdam late last year. Within hours, the two artists had crafted the track, which Farell debuted during his set at Verknipt Festival that very evening. “Alex is one of my favorite producers right now and a regular on HEKATE,” Landry said. "When it came to deciding which artists I wanted to work with on my upcoming collab album, it was a no-brainer to cook something up with him. 'Prisoner' is a peak set thumping banger and it has torn the roof off some of the clubs I've played at recently. You can really hear both mine and Alex's production styles in this one. It is the ideal follow-up track to 'Heaven' to show the vibe of what to expect from the rest of the album." Listen to "Prisoner" below and find the new single on streaming platforms here. Released 10 Years Ago: Hardwell & Joey Dale ft. Luciana – Arcadia
It has been exactly one decade since the release of Hardwell’s smash single, Arcadia. Arcadia is a progressive Big Room/ Electro track that was initially released on July 7, 2014. It was the first single to release on his debut studio album in 2015 ‘United We Are’. Hardwell first performed an edit of the song live during Ultra Music festival in March 2014. Produced through an amazing collaboration with young talent, Joey Dale, the track was proven to be a festival banger. Arcadia embodies the sound of Big Room dance music during the 2014 Golden Era. Every time the song is played you will get that nostalgic feeling invoked by Hardwell’s signature sound. The euphoric vocals provided by Luciana take the track on an exhilarating journey through ‘Arcadia’. The track was a heavy hitter in the 2015 Belgian charts reaching a peak position of 35 (Ultratip Bubbling Under Flanders). That uplifting feeling is what people loved about music during the golden years. There was an official music video published 3 months after the release on August 8, 2015. The video gathered 6.7 million views as well as 63k likes on YouTube. It is just as fantastic and whimsical as the song itself taking on the Alice in Wonderland theme. The lyrics coordinate with the visuals as there are depictions of a woman crossing over into another world and joining a mad tea party. Hardwell has made references to the electrifying track throughout the years. Most recently in 2020, he made a Facebook post sharing how special ‘Arcadia’ was for him to include in “The Story of Hardwell” album. The album is a compilation of Hardwell’s best work throughout the years released in 2020 right after his announcement of a much-needed hiatus. The single is listed as number 1 in the album.

Released 10 Years Ago: Backlash – DubVision, Martin Garrix
‘Backlash’ is an outstanding piece of progressive house from two titans of the genre in DubVision and Martin Garrix who have both continued to produce hit after hit both individually and with their collabs. This track perfectly displays the insane talent of both artists with its bouncing melody and euphoric chords that create an infectious energy which has become a staple of their style. Martin Garrix and DubVisions Dutch DJ duo of Victor and Stephan Leicher have gone on to make several songs together since the release of ‘Backlash’ such as ‘Oxygen’, ‘Empty’ and one of the songs of the summer for this year, ‘Wherever You Are.’ Their chemistry in the studio is undeniably incredible and when rumours start circulating of a collaboration between them instantly there is a buzz amongst the fans over what they are going to create. 10 years on from the release of ‘Backlash’ both Martin Garrix and DubVision are flying high in the music world with DubVision about to drop their new album ‘Another World’ and Martin Garrix headlining festivals around the world. DIØN Is Unstoppable With ‘Traffic’ Official Anthem Of Verknipt Arena 2024
At first you barely hear it. Almost imperceptible, like a faint heartbeat under thundering drums and relentless rhythms. But you know it’s there. You can feel it. Then suddenly, two of the most recognisable notes in dance music history burst through in all their brilliance, demanding that a new generation of fans lose their sh*t on the dance floor. The track in question is Tiësto‘s seminal masterpiece ‘Traffic’, the rework is by Techno star DIØN, and what’s about to drop is a hard dance cover for the absolute ages. DIØN spoke about the significance the original single holds for him: “It was one of my first encounters with (electronic music). When I was really young my dad would pick me and my brother up from my grandmother who was watching us after school when my parents had to work. My dad always had this Tiësto CD playing in his car with this track ‘Traffic’ on it, and we would listen to it almost every time he picked us up. I never could have imagined that I would be doing a rework for this track.” When it came to the production, DIØN knew how vital it was to walk the line between authenticity to both the original version, and his own, trademark style. “For me Tiësto is a real legend and this is my favourite track of his. I had to make something that would stick close to the original sound but also a track that I could play in my sets and have my own elements in it like signature drums and acid. My sold-out 10-hour set in Thuishaven in June was the first time I played it out and it went absolutely crazy, I saw the hole crowd just living in the moment of it, especially in the long and uplifting break. I’m very happy how it turned out.” Weaving unforgiving ripsaw synths, depth-charged basslines, hardcore percussion and squelching, rave-style FX around Tiësto‘s iconic two-note riff like some sort of musical tornado, DIØN takes the original BPM and throws it out of the window without apology. His cover lands firmly in the heart of the hard dance arena, making it entirely appropriate that the track has just been named the official anthem for the Verknipt ArenA 2024 show in Amsterdam this summer, released on Verknipt Records. DIØN‘s association with Verknipt has grown since the celebrated Dutch event gave their ADE stage to the youngster back in 2021. Delivering an explosive set that made the establishment sit up and pay attention, DIØN is now an integral part of the Verknipt family, headlining for them at shows around the world as they expand their global reach. “DIØN’s rework of Tiësto’s ‘Traffic’ is a testament to his deep respect for electronic music history and his innovative approach to hard techno,” said Verknipt founder Mer Hajbarati. “By blending the iconic elements of the original with his signature hard-hitting style, DION has crafted a track that’s both nostalgic and refreshingly modern. This cover captures the essence of what the mission of Verknipt Records stands for- to champion the hard dance genres by providing an immersive platform for emerging and established artists. Our relationship with DION goes way back and we’ve grown together over the years, that’s why we can’t wait for him to play this track at the ArenA show, especially since it’s the anthem of the event.” One of the most in-demand names in Hard Dance and Techno, DIØN courts support from some the genres’ biggest superstars, including Amelie Lens, Sara Landry, and Fatima Hajji. His ROUGH MATERIAL label showcase at legendary Dutch venue Paradiso earlier this year sold out in a matter of minutes, and in June he bought the proverbial house down with an epic, monstrous, 10 hour set at Thuishaven. As he prepares to unleash his take on ‘Traffic’ at arguably the biggest hard dance event of all time, it’s safe to say he’s cemented his seat at the A-list table. DIØN – it’s a hard new world. Stream this single on all platforms here.

Minnesota Electronic Music Community Grieves Loss of Local DJ Liara Tsai
Liara Tsai, a local Minnesota DJ and Trevor Project volunteer, was killed at just 35 years old, Minnesota Public Radio reports. Hailing originally from Mauston, Wisconsin, the transgender musician had just accomplished a long-anticipated move from Iowa City to join the Minneapolis EDM community. With a focus on spirituality, the techno and house music-focused DJ was beloved for her ability to freestyle all of her shows. According to friends within the community, Tsai was starting to gain popularity and a dedicated fanbase as tragedy struck. She frequently performed around Minneapolis through one of the city's well-known promoters, Intellephunk, and had also recently become a crisis counselor for the promotion brand. Along with her involvement in the music community, Tsai volunteered with the Trevor Project, a nonprofit organization focused on suicide prevention among LGBTQ+ individuals. According to MPR, the DJ's former partner, Margot Lewis, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder in Minneapolis' Hennepin County. Tsai's autopsy reportedly revealed that she was found "with a puncture wound on her neck" and died as a result of "multiple sharp-force injuries." Tsai and fellow DJ and friend Dana Kazuko were scheduled to have their first joint performance at Minneapolis' Uptown VFW today, July 5th. The performance will now be carried out solely by Kazuko, who is planning to play Tsai's music alongside a video she's prepared, per MPR. The show's proceeds will benefit Twin Cities Trans Mutual Aid. We at EDM.com express our sincere condolences to the family, fans, friends and loved ones of Liara Tsai.

EDMTunes New Music Friday – Week 27
Listen to the most flavour-packed tracks we discovered this week. Music makes the world go round. And in that regard, we’re constantly on the lookout for new, exciting tunes to share with our audience. We’ve found some that cause goosebumps, and make you open your eyes and get up from your chair to dance. So put on your best pair of headphones, or turn up your speakers, and enjoy this week’s New Music Friday. Here are our top picks for the best music we came across this week, in no particular order. And remember, if you would like to contact us for a chance to feature your track on our page, head over to this link right here. Darren Porter, XiJaro & Pitch – Reach for the Stars Genre: Uplifting Trance Kicking off this week in style with a genre that’s a favourite of the NMFs curator, Trance! Out today on Dreamstate Records is a starring new collaboration that sees powerhouse Darren Porter join forces with equally legendary duo XiJaro & Pitch. Jump in without hesitating, because here’s the purist note you needed this week: ‘Reach for the Stars‘. The genre describes this one pretty well: Uplifting. This tune is so beautiful. The melody has the potential to make you levitate if you’re in the zone, and the whole track is built in a journey-like fashion. From the power-filled beat to the heavenly break and outstanding hooks, you’ll struggle not to replay this one once you’re finished. TMPST feat. Idun Nicoline – Need To Be Found Genre: Deep House Staying on the “Melody and feelings” lane, here’s yet another warm and heartfelt piece for you all, albeit a bit slower and, well, deeper than the last entry. TMPST is becoming a mainstay over here, since this is the third track of him that we feature. This one is called ‘Need To Be Found‘, and features the vocals of Idun Nicoline. A Deep, borderline Melodic House tune, ‘Need To Be Found’ explores the experience of feeling adrift and yearning for connection within a world that can often seem distant. TMPST views the release as an arrangement that can “capture those quiet moments of reflection and longing“. And we’d agree. Arcando – Don’t Tell Me (VIP) Genre: Drum & Bass, UK Garage And talking about mainstays! Arcando is probably one of the artists we’ve shared the most in our New Music Friday compilations. And it’s not just because. He’s a terrific producer, as have testified Alok, Martin Garrix, The Chainsmokers, and many other industry leaders who love a good Arcando tune every now and then. Drum & Bass? UK Garage? We’re not really sure about the genre of this particular track, but what we’re sure of is that it is a proper belter. The man behind the original ‘Don’t Tell Me‘ figured it could be directed into a different route and crafted this Variation In Progress — yes, that’s VIP for you. Just give it a listen, trust us. Eskei83 feat. MARIELE – Run Alone Genre: Drum & Bass A feel-good, warm and Summer-suggesting Drum & Bass piece incoming! Hailing from Germany, Eskei83 is a leading DJ and producer who’s been at it for over ten years now. Far from being a conventional disc jockey, he also became Red Bull Thre3style’s World Champion (!). He offers a complete experience both in production and live mixing, as you may be able to tell. And his latest certainly does not disappoint. ‘Run Alone‘ is the name of quite a happy track, one that was complete with the soothing vocals of MARIELE. The track blends offbeat piano riffs borrowed from House and some leads from Happy Hardcore even, to showcase a fine result which leaves a lasting impression, and a smile on the side. Are you a producer and you want your song featured on EDMTunes? Follow this link right here. Tiësto, Lucas & Steve feat. Silent Child – Zenless Genre: Techno, Tech House Award-winning DJ Tiësto and Dutch duo Lucas & Steve created ‘Zenless‘, the electrifying theme song for HoYoverse’s hit urban fantasy RPG Zenless Zone Zero. This genre-bending Dark Techno track blends Tiësto’s iconic style with Lucas & Steve’s futuristic soundscapes, aiming to capture the game’s vibrant world. HoYoverse, the leader in cartoon rendering, AI, and cloud gaming (known for games like Genshin Impact), launched Zenless Zone Zero on July 4th for PlayStation 5, PC, iOS, and Android. The track, one of anthem-like quality for the game, counts with the mystery-themed vocals of Silent Child, for the finishing touch. Bound to Divide – Gold Rush Genre: Progressive House Back to the deeper genres with this one! We’ve got a hot track courtesy of Bound to Divide, a South-African-born producer living in Bournemouth, UK. Not only does he do music, though, as Julian currently works on all fronts of Dance, as a Sound Designer, YouTuber, DJ, and composer. His latest track, ‘Gold Rush‘, is one that features a melodic base, and melodic elements, but yet with a darker, sober feel to it. It’s a track that sounds wise, mature in a way. The machine-programmed beat and the analogue-sounding snare play a truly masterful role here breathing life and originality into a great piece. T. Matthias, Adam Griffin & ALLKNIGHT – Saved Me Genre: UK Garage Perfect Havoc label boss and producer Adam Griffin brings a beautiful piece of Garage to the table today. He’s joined T. Matthias on a vocal-led future anthem they like to call ‘Saved Me‘. A collaboration of sorts could not get any better, you say? Enter Jodie Knight, under her Dance-focused alias, ALLKNIGHT. Elegant, dynamically fast-paced, and truly wonderful, is our key analysis for you to understand this track in a nutshell. Not only does this tune portray a warm and positive story instrumentally, it also does a spectacular job of letting Jodie’s soft voice reign high aloft, making a memorable ensemble. Or in other words, “Mmmmmm“. AFTERUS & Maxine – I’m Enough Genre: Trance I personally love the fact that this episode of NMF was almost entirely based on melody and feeling. And as such, why not close it on with a properly fitting Trance arrangement? Our last feature of this week comes from AFTERUS and Maxine, who’ve teamed up for this beautiful piece of Heaven: ‘I’m Enough‘. The whole tune feels magical. The track engulfs and builds upon the vocal, and at the same time has enough personality to turn into a memorable melody. Add to that the fact that the evolution of the track is not overwhelming, but it instead allows you to enjoy the slowly-unfolding tension. Hats off to this piece. Enjoy it! Final Words Stay tuned, for more of our compilations every Friday — based on demand. Are you a producer and you’d like to be featured in the next edition of our New Music Fridays? Then head over to this link right here, you champ. And be sure to follow EDMTunes for all the latest news and reviews that revolve around our beloved Electronic Dance Music! Comical Festival Sign Leads Amelie Lens to Offer Fan Backstage Access for Life
Belgian DJ and producer Amelie Lens has granted a fan guestlist and backstage access for life, she revealed in a lighthearted Instagram post. As the techno superstar was milling around the 2024 Glastonbury Festival, she came across a sign reading, "Oli wasn't able to get tickets this year. Please ring & tell him how amazing it is," followed by the man's phone number. Lens then gave him a ring as the sign instructed and said, "I just wanted to call you to say how amazing it is here!" Lens said that Oli had no idea who was calling until seeing her Instagram Reel. However, the joke started to sour when others started to call as well after seeing his number on her platform of over two million followers. Feeling sorry for the influx of calls and messages Oli received, Lens made a deal with him—he changed his number, and she gave him guestlist and backstage access for life. Fair deal? We're sure Oli thinks so. Check out Lens' lighthearted video below. View the original article to see embedded media. Hardwell Melts Down After Equipment Fails at SAGA Festival
Drama ensues! World-Known Dutch DJ and producer Hardwell decided to call out SAGA Festival during his set on day one. It seems like equipment was malfunctioning so he decided to stop his set, grab the mic, cuss out the event, and acusse them of not paying him for his involvement. However SAGA clapped back at him on social media. The festival is currently taking place in Bucharest July 5-7. In addition, it offers a wide array of artists ranging from Nicki Minaj, Armin van Buuren, Deborah de Luca, and more. Hardwell at SAGA As seen above, Hardwell addresses the crowd and puts the organizers on blast for the equipment failure. Moreover, the artists claims the festival did not pay him for his set but he still went there to perform as his commitment for his fans outweighted the inconvinience. Nevertheless, the festival was quick to fact-check Hardwell’s hard claims. Per below, the festival explains that had the DJ brought it to attention that the equipment was faulty, they would’ve rushed to help and make sure his set ran smoothly. Furthermore, they stated that the equipment came to Romania from the Netherlands, at the same time the DJ traveled to the event. Lastly, the organizers claim that the DJ was indeed paid, and the stage was functional for another major Headliner Will Sparks. Saga emphasized that other big names in the industry performed in all other stages without any issue. What team are you on? Was Hardwell on the right to call out the event halfway through his set? Should we believe the SAGA’s claims that they would’ve cooperated with the artist? Did he get paid? So many questions, so little answers. We hope that we can find the truth in the situation and have both parties receive their best outcome, whatever it may be. Mark Knight And James Hurr Unleash Pumping Tune ‘You Take Me Higher’
A collaboration from two long-time partners in crime has just hit the stores. Great news comes today from the world of Tech House, in particular, that pumping House sound we all grew to know and love — and we get to hear it tonight from one of its trailblazers. We’re talking about the Toolroom sound, the one that can’t fail to get a crowd moving. Today, the leading imprint welcomes a track coming from its founder, Mark Knight himself, in tandem with James Hurr, becoming one of the classic collaborating duos of this corner of Dance music. A powerhouse DJ and Grammy-nominated producer, Mark Knight truly is a Dance music icon. His career, one who’s seen him making music for around 20 years now, has turned him into a living legend status, being the proper spearhead of the Toolroom sound ever since. Chart-topping anthems like ‘Man With The Red Face’ and collaborations with Faithless and Underworld solidify his legacy. On the other side of the ring, long regarded as one of the go-to producers in the UK electronic scene, James Hurr has made his name as a prolific writer/producer. He’s worked with an impressive roster of A-tier artists, which include Tiësto, Fisher, Armin Van Buuren, Acraze, and many more. Being a Toolroom mainstay for years at this point, a new track from him on the imprint is to be expected — yet never underestimated. ‘You Take Me Higher’ Their latest endeavour comes after conjoint hits like ‘Movin’, ‘Make You Happy’ alongside legend Todd Terry, a cover of the infamous ‘Lady’, and even an earlier release of this year, ‘I Got All This Love’. July’s single, ‘You Take Me Higher‘, sees the lads make fantastic use of the classic Sandy Mercer vocal sample and layer it over a straight-up, Disco-laced House groove, for the ultimate dancefloor weapon. There’s nothing else to add, it’s a simple formula, but one that works every time, assuming you pull it off correctly. And I wouldn’t doubt one second that these two did. It’s got “summer” written all over it, and we bet this one will be rinsed all across the Northern Hemisphere this season. Listen to Mark Knight and James Hurr‘s banging ‘You Take Me Higher‘ down below for your Spotify play. Click this link to support the track on your platform of choice. And stay tuned to our page for the latest news and views from our beloved Dance music industry. Speaking about the debut single collectively, STARSIGNS had this to say: In matters of the heart, Leo, today encourages bold expressions of love and passion. If single, a chance encounter might spark an exciting connection. Those in relationships should take the lead in planning a romantic gesture or heartfelt conversation. Michael Bibi Encourages Fans to Join Stem Cell Register At One Life London Event This Weekend
After declaring himself cancer-free last December after his battle with a rare form of brain and spinal cancer, known as CNS Lymphoma, Michael Bibi is now focusing his efforts on raising awareness and funding resources for cancer patients. The DJ/producer will encourage attendees of his One Life London event this weekend to join the stem cell transplant register. One Life London will take place this Saturday, July 6th at Finsbury park, where 45,000 people are expected to attend. Bibi has invited Anthony Nolan, a charity centered on matching donors with patients in need of stem cell transplants, to set up a booth at the event to spread awareness for their cause. Attendees are encouraged to stop by the booth and consider joining the register, especially 16-30-year-olds, as research has shown that younger stem cell donors lead to more successful outcomes for cancer patients. Bibi will also sell One Life merchandise at the event to raise funds for the Royal Marsden hospital in London, which is where he received treatment himself last year. In a statement, Bibi said: “Last summer I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and given just a 30% chance of survival. Advancements in medical treatments like stem cell transplants gave me a second chance at life and are crucial in battling these conditions.” “Together, our community can make a difference. That’s why Anthony Nolan staff and volunteers will be at my homecoming show, ready to sign people up to the stem cell register. Anthony Nolan is a charity dedicated to ensuring that everyone who needs a lifesaving stem cell transplant finds a match. So, if you’re coming down to celebrate life in Finsbury Park, make sure you visit the Anthony Nolan stand. By becoming part of the stem cell community, you could give the gift of life.” -Michael Bibi After celebrating the end of his battle with cancer last December, Bibi has returned to playing a few select shows; however this weekend’s One Life party marks his biggest event yet since his return. The DJ/producer announced his One Life tour back in January, which will kick off this weekend in London before heading to several locations throughout Europe.
