Kryder teams up with Jay Robinson on ‘Better Together’
With another hot song from Kryder and Jay Robinson, Perfect Havoc continues their unbeatable run of form. Their beautiful song “Better Together” has new production, a beautiful vocal, and catchy drums that make you want to dance. From the first beat, “Better Together” envelops listeners in a warm embrace of pulsing rhythms and shimmering melodies. The production seamlessly blends Kryder’s knack for crafting infectious grooves with Robinson’s signature euphoric touch, resulting in a tune that’s impossible to resist. Perfect Havoc, a proudly independent dance label, keeps putting out some of the most popular songs of recent times. This is a testament to the futuristic A&R policy of the label and the vision of Adam Griffin and Robert Davies, who started it. It’s because of this that they’ve been crossover hits in clubs, festivals, and on global charts, with over 10 billion streams, six UK Top 20 songs, and many platinum, gold, and silver awards. Many more tracks from Todd Tery & Janika Tenn and Zac Samuel & Alexis Knox are on the way from Perfect Havoc, so the good times aren’t over yet. This summery, feel-good vocal gem packs a real punch with hints of classic filter house. ‘Better Together‘ by Kryder x Jay Robinson is out now on Perfect Havoc. Producer ASPEN Releases His Brand New House Anthem ‘Sweetest Mistake’ + Interview
Introducing “Sweetest Mistake,” the latest single from ASPEN, Miami’s renowned DJ/Producer. This evocative track delves deep into themes of vulnerability and healing, blending emotive lyrics with ASPEN’s signature melodic sound. Known for his ability to craft music that resonates on a profound emotional level, ASPEN delivers yet another powerful piece that promises to captivate listeners. “Sweetest Mistake” is a testament to his evolving artistry, inviting fans to experience a journey of introspection and renewal. Don’t miss out on this soul-stirring release from one of Miami’s top musical talents. GETTING TO KNOW (ASPEN) Hailing from the sun-drenched beaches of Miami, Florida, ASPEN is not just a DJ and producer—he’s an institution in the vibrant nightlife of one of the world’s most electric cities. Known for his dynamic sets and pulse-pounding beats, ASPEN is a perennial favorite at Miami’s top nightclubs, where his performances are synonymous with unforgettable nights out. But ASPEN’s influence extends far beyond the local scene. With performances in many different countries and cities worldwide, he has captivated audiences on a global scale, bringing his unique blend of energy and rhythm to every corner of the dance music world. Whether in the heart of Europe or the beaches of Southeast Asia, ASPEN’s music transcends boundaries, making him a beloved figure in the international DJ community. Explain what musical genre fits you best I think as of right now I have been producing mostly progressive house/ big room. Those two subgenres of EDM have always been some of my favorites. I love the melodic focus of the two genres and I think that’s what has driven me in that direction. I do have a downtempo song release and I am working on a tropical house track as well; so I definitely do some branching out but yes I think progressive house and big room fits me best for right now. Were you connected with music from a young age and did anyone inspire you? Yes, I have always absolutely loved music. I have been listening predominantly to edm for the past ten years so I’ve always had a passion for it. I never realized how much I loved it until I went to my first Ultra in Miami. After that, I just knew that I wanted to start producing music and becoming a DJ. What kickstarted your music career? I think the location as to where I started played a big role in it. My main market is Miami which is one of the best places in the world for electronic music. I’ve made some fantastic connections and that really propelled me forward quickly. I still have a ton of work ahead of me but it gave me a nice head start. Tell us more about your sound and how it’s evolved over time I think with most new artists, you start by trying to emulate someone. I think my sound started out relatively bland because of that. I’m still refining the sound that I was to consistently produce but I think taking inspiration from multiple different places has really helped me have a better idea of what I want my music to sound like. I’m much happier with where my sound is now compared to when I started. Any words you want to share to encourage other artists or producers? Keep pushing. Music is a ton of work but I think if you keep following the passion that got you into it in the first place then it will drive you to keep working towards your dreams and aspirations. How do you nurture your industry relationships? By treating them like normal friendships and relationships because that’s what they are. Just because I met someone through my profession doesn’t mean they can’t become good friends/ connections. So act how you would with your friends, and you should go far. Is there anyone you’d like to thank that’s been crucial to your journey? Yes I started DJing for a company called Trio when I was just starting out and they really gave me a platform to get started with my career. Name 3 songs you love and what they mean to you + Youtube links Martin Garrix feat. Bonn – High On Life Sebastian Ingrosso, Alesso – Calling (Lose My Mind) Gryffin, Illenium – Feel Good ft. Daya All 3 of these songs are what gave me the inspiration to say “I want to do what these guys are doing”. What’s your favourite piece of studio equipment or software? Great question. I have two answers. So my basic answer is my laptop/ableton. I wouldn’t be able to do anything without my laptop. My fun answer is a talkbox. I just think those things are so fun to use. Name your favourite club or festival and how it makes you feel Favorite festival is Tomorrowland. They’re production is absolutely unreal. Every year they show why they are the best festival in the world. I’ve had some of the best times of my life there. Name an outlandish rider request? This is a hilarious question. I’ll give you a rider request that I made that was absolutely pointless. I requested a fuzzy blanket once. When you first think about it, it doesn’t seem that outlandish but once you realize that you are showing up to your dressing room right before you perform in front of a large crowd, why the heck would I need a blanket. What am I gonna do, take a nap before? Obviously not. Favourite clubbing memory and who or what did it involve? Everytime I play at LIV, I have the absolute best time performing and then just enjoying myself afterwards. I love that place. What famous quote represents you best? “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” -Wayne Gretzky If you could play at any venue, where would it be and why? Ushuaia Ibiza. That place is a mini festival in itself. I would absolutely love to play there. Music is….. (explain more) Music is a universal language that transcends boundaries and connects people on an emotional level. It’s an expression of creativity, a form of communication that can convey feelings and stories without the need for words. Music has the power to inspire, heal, and bring joy, serving as a soundtrack to our lives and marking significant moments. For me, music is a way to channel my emotions, share my experiences, and connect with my audience. It’s a dynamic art form that evolves with time, yet remains timeless in its ability to touch the human soul. One song you really couldn’t live without and why? High on Life by Martin Garrix Namedrop your favourite 5 artists or DJs (past or present) Armin Van Buuren Martin Garrix Gryffin Kaskade Hardwell What was your first music memory and how did it fuel your fire? When I raved at my first Ultra. It made me fall in love with music more than I already had. Tell us more about your plans for the future I am going to keep releasing music once a month for the foreseeable future. I have a ton of projects that I’m working on and I want to roll them all out. Any worldly advice you’d like to share? Just ride the wave. Let life take you wherever it pleases. An in-depth look to GORDO’s Debut Album ‘DIAMANTE’ Tracklist
Diamante Blackmon, better known as GORDO and formerly known as Carnage, has released the tracklist for his highly anticipated album, DIAMANTE, which will be released on July 26th via Ultra Records. “DIAMANTE” is finally out after years of working with and producing for big names like Drake, Bad Bunny, Nicki Minaj, El Alfa, Migos, Lil Yachty, the late Mac Miller, The Martinez Brothers, and Rema. It will set the sound agenda for nightlife around the world with his albums and DJ sets. Over 20.000 hours of careful work went into making the record, which brought together artists like Drake, Fuerza Regida, Leon Bridges, Rampa, and Maluma to push the limits of music and connect different genres. What do I do now? – GORDO reflects on what has occupied most of his days over the past four years, aside from sleeping or performing in front of crowds around the world. – I’m so proud of how ‘DIAMANTE’ turned out. At this point, there’s nothing I would change; I guess that’s why it took four years—to ensure I could look at it and know it’s perfect,” he says about the 16-track body of work releasing this Friday. “It’s the most emotional project I’ve worked on in my life. It features work from artists I’ve looked up to and those who inspire me, some I’ve known for years and others I’ve met more recently. “DIAMANTE,” as the name suggests, is Blackmon’s most personal project to date. It’s a tribute to GORDO’s family, friends, and loved ones, and it lets fans join him on his own journey to freedom as he reconnects with his Nicaraguan-American roots. The album mixes electronic dance music with music from many different genres, including Dance, Hip Hop, Pop, Reggaeton, Indie, and Jazz. It has both well-known and up-and-coming acts from these areas, creating what can only be called a musical evolution. DIAMANTE tracklist GORDO DIAMANTE TRACKLIST When you look at the tracklist for “DIAMANTE,” it’s clear that GORDO likes and is committed to the story of a well-rounded full-length project. The Nicaraguan-American producer teams up with &ME for the surprisingly thoughtful first track, “Guard Down.” The voice is from this super-talented girl I met, Alice Aera. I love playing with the pitch of vocals; you’ll notice that throughout the album. The different pitches in Alice’s voice even come together at one point on ‘Guard Down’ – GORDO. Recently, Keinemusik teased GORDO during their show at Brooklyn Mirage in New York, and GORDO himself during shows across Europe. Now, GORDO finally reveals that the hottest dance music secret ID is a song he made with longtime friend Drake called “Sideways.” The two have worked together on many projects before. GORDO produced six tracks on Drake‘s house-inspired album “Honestly, Nevermind” and two tracks on the Canadian artist’s “For All The Dogs” record, including “Rich Baby Daddy.” We’ve been friends for years but had never actually properly collaborated on music before ‘Honestly, Nevermind.’ To have him on my debut album speaks volumes about what people can expect on it – says GORDO about his first official collaboration with Drake. This flows smoothly into “Honeyland” (feat. Afshin Momadi), a beautiful melodic Afro-house track that slowly moves the energy to the dancing. The tease of “Easier” with Rampa during GORDO’s performance at Hï Ibiza brings the song even closer to the dancefloor and shows off GORDO’s creative confidence by letting him break the rules. The artists in GORDO’s album DIAMANTE “DIAMANTE” has a great list of collaborations, but it still has the flow and excitement that fans expect from a personalized artist record. A-list artists aren’t just on the album because GORDO wanted them to be there; they fit in perfectly with his concept for the album. The show “Target” is all about T-Pain. It’s funny… This collaboration actually started a long time ago because T-Pain owed some people verses, including me. ‘Target’ took on many forms before finally reaching the version you’ll hear on Friday – GORDO. The Californian rapper Larry June is featured on GORDO’s recent tracks, and “Lake Como” has a subtle but powerful effect on a dance album. “Candid Zone,” on the other hand, shows off a new trick in GORDO’s musical bag by using the soulful vocals of Leon Bridges to find the perfect balance between R&B, house, and summer Latin flair. Fuerza Regida’s “NENE” was added to the record at the last minute. This high-energy collaboration between GORDO and the Mexican American powerhouse was finished just a week before the album came out. It is the first of four Latin-American duets on the “DIAMANTE.” Nicki Nicole’s Argentinian style and Sech’s obvious reggaeton swagger come together in “Cafecito.” This official summer anthem really shows GORDO in his element, blending his Hispanic background and an all-Latin American team with his global club sound with ease. “Parcera,” which features the global superstar Maluma, takes people back to the summer of 2023 when the duo performed it for the first time at GORDO’s Tomorrowland Belgium Mainstage show. Over 100 million people have watched clips of the show, making it the most popular moment in Tomorrowland history. The hypnotic song “Hombres y Mujeres,” which features the Colombian singer Feid, is the last of the album’s four songs that honor GORDO’s Hispanic roots. With more than 70 million streams, the song became a huge hit in Latin America and Spain before GORDO’s biggest South American DJ tour ever, which took place from December 2023 to March 2024 and took him to 25 cities in 15 countries. GORDO makes a busy house banger called “Kill For This Shit” with lyrics from the late Young Dolph. The track has bursting basslines and upbeat percussion that give the Memphis rap anthem more dancefloor energy. Like GORDO’s live shows, the second half of “DIAMANTE” builds to a bold peak that shows why many people think of him as modern clubbing royalty. All of this comes to a head when the needle drops on “Take Control” and “WDYM” (featuring Karolina Falk). Both songs are ready for festival main stages all over the world and show off the highly praised producer’s skillful and subtle production. “Aura,” which features NTO, is the last song on the record. The track, which was named after his grandmother, is a new kind of GORDO. It promises to win people over with its dancing melodies, melodic techno beats, and beautifully shimmering synthwork. What we can expect from DIAMANTE My grandmother is my best friend. During the pandemic, I moved to Hawaii with her, and for most of that time, it was just the two of us. This was when GORDO came to life and when I began working on most of the songs on the album. Each and every song on ‘DIAMANTE’ received her seal of approval. She’s such an inspiration to me, especially in the way she took care of her family during so many difficult times. That’s why I’m dedicating this album to her, my family, friends, and loved ones. – GORDO GORDO’s first record, “DIAMANTE,” comes out in just a few days. It will solidify his place in the music world and give fans a chance to get to know the man behind the decks even better. The record has a lot of collaborations with famous artists, but it also gives fans a unique chance to see GORDO in the middle of his creative process, which creates a unique sound journey that can only be called “DIAMANTE.” The post An in-depth look to GORDO’s Debut Album ‘DIAMANTE’ Tracklist appeared first on The Groove Cartel.

Madeon & Daft Punk Music Lights Up Eiffel Tower For Bastille Day
In the absence of a long-awaited Daft Punk reunion, a stunning display of 1,000 drones brought their music to life in Paris, the iconic duo’s hometown, this past weekend. However, this was not the only Electronic music act that was featured on Bastille Day 2024. Following America’s Independence Day celebrations, where fireworks often result in mishaps, French citizens similarly celebrate Bastille Day, marking a pivotal moment in the French Revolution. Although this annual holiday always features grand festivities across France, 2024 was particularly special as the country prepares to host the Summer Olympics in Paris in just under two weeks. On Sunday night, the city orchestrated a spectacular fireworks display enhanced by 1,000 drones around the Eiffel Tower. With a rich legacy of Electronic music talents like Gesaffelstein, Justice, Kavinsky, and Jean-Michel Jarre, the event organizers had a wealth of musical choices. They ultimately selected tracks by Daft Punk and contemporary Dance music star Madeon. Madeon’s ‘You’re On‘ from his 2015 debut album Adventure played during a segment where the drones formed a running figure holding a heart. The drones also morphed into the Paris 2024 Olympic Games logo, accompanied by Daft Punk’s 2013 single ‘Contact’ from their final album, Random Access Memories. Check out the footage of the Bastille Day fireworks show featuring music by Daft Punk and Madeon below. Stay tuned for more news! Culture Shock Revives His Classic Sound With ‘The Time Is Now’
If you’ve been waiting for a new DNB dancefloor heater, the wait is over and the time is now. Culture Shock’s latest, aptly titled ‘The Time Is Now,’ releases today after IDing all over the place since Spring. The enigmatic UK producer delivers another powerhouse Drum and Bass track, echoing the classic style that propelled him into the genre’s top ranks. ‘The Time Is Now’ features the intricate, fast-paced patterns and robust, industrial drumlines that have become synonymous with Culture Shock’s sound. Fans have praised the track as a return to more traditional roots, distinct from his recent vocal experiments like ‘Get To Me,’ ‘Breathe,’ ‘Out My Head,’ and a banger of a flip for Artemas’ ‘i like the way you kiss me.’ Culture Shock’s fourth single of the year, ‘The Time Is Now’ had a viral moment last week after a glimpse of his set at Rattleship was posted on social media. If you thought EDM venues couldn’t get any wilder, think again—Brownies and Lemonade took things to the next level with a mind-blowing production on a USS aircraft carrier. Culture Shock’s evolution as an artist has been a journey of balancing innovation with consistency. ‘The Time Is Now’ showcases not only his ability to stay true to his London origins but also to refine his production techniques, with a tight, polished sound that continues to impress. To get a sense of Culture Shock’s live sets, you can’t do much better than to check out his 30-minute set from May for Radio 1’s Drum and Bass Show. Or catch him on tour before he goes back-to-back x4 with supergroup WORSHIP at EDC Orlando in November. Listen to ‘The Time Is Now’ below. [Event Review] Anjunadeep And AREA15 Illuminated Las Vegas For Open Air Show
An extra hot summer day calls for an extra hot summer party. Thus, Anjunadeep delivered a celestial event in the Nevada desert for its 2024 series of Open Air shows. This past Friday, the Anjunadeep label, led by Above & Beyond, landed at the state-of-the-art, psychedelic venue AREA15 to showcase its lineup of Deep House royals. But First, Happy Hour! Getting to the venue early paid off extremely well. From VR games, to stunning exhibits, including Meow Wolf, Friday was up to a good start. But then, the fun began, as Luttrell presented us with an amazing surprise 2-hour happy hour set. The pre-show was held right at the entrance of AREA15 and it was free to the public. This warm-up led to what would be a magical night in the A-Lot space of the venue. Luttrell’s Happy Hour Now, The Open Air The A-Lot is one of the 3 spaces in AREA15 that hosts incredible events. Other artists that have graced this stage in the last year include Charlotte de Witte, Dombresky, Ganja White Night, and Boris Brejcha. This time, Anjunadeep brought their Deep House wizards to charm the summer winds in the atmosphere. The lineup included Nicky Elizabeth, Durante, Joseph Ray, Eli & Fur, and a special Dosem b2b Luttrell set. The Anjuna family came strong with its vibes, overcoming the hot temperatures. The lot kept cool with massive fans that also sprayed refreshing mist into the attendees. Production-wise we enjoyed beautiful visuals and quality lighting that resonated with the soulful melodies we heard into the late night. The production was completed with some chill areas, a set-up swing and Anjuna merch. Sadly, due to the worldwide glitch in the matrix that affected a lot of software, Marsh couldn’t make it to Vegas for his set. However, each act delivered a stunning, emotional time that brought smiles to each member of the audience. Eli & Fur, Credits: Jesse Hudson In a world that feels like it going 190 miles an hour, it was nice to have a night that slowed it down so we could appreciate the night, with each other, with great music. We can’t wait to go back to AREA15 and enjoy some quality time. As for the label itself, they’re continuing with more Open Air shows for the rest of the year. Some cities include London, Budapest, Seattle, and Mexico City. The post [Event Review] Anjunadeep And AREA15 Illuminated Las Vegas For Open Air Show appeared first on EDMTunes.

Sharks In Brazil Are Testing Positive For Cocaine
If you thought the story behind 2023’s Cocaine Bear film was wild, well it’s time to level up to… Cocaine Shark. A new study by Brazilian scientists has revealed that sharks off the coast of Brazil are testing positive for cocaine. Researchers found traces of the drug in both the muscles and livers of every shark they examined, a study that involved dissecting 13 sharpnose sharks. This alarming situation is likely caused by cocaine entering the ocean through untreated sewage or being dumped during drug smuggling operations. Scientists are concerned that the cocaine consumption could alter the sharks’ behavior and harm other marine life in the Santos Bay Area. “We don’t usually see many bales of coke dumped or lost at sea here, unlike in Mexico and Florida.” -Scientist and researcher Dr Rachel Ann Hauser-Davis in The Telegraph This isn’t an isolated incident; similar findings have been reported in other locations around the world. For instance, last year, scientists in Florida discovered fish and sharks in Florida waters have been affected by drug-related paraphelnia dumped into the ocean by drug traffickers. Similarly, in the UK, freshwater shrimp and other river wildlife are testing positive for cocaine and ketamine. In addition, a 2018 study discovered that eels in British waters have been exposed to cocaine. Researchers believe the drug is causing these creatures to become ‘hyperactive.’ While movies like Cocaine Bear and Cocaine Shark provide a source of entertainment, it’s important to note this is a real issue affecting our wildlife, both on land and at sea. Released 9 Years Ago: Eric Prydz – Opus
Nine years ago, on July 25, 2015, Eric Prydz released ‘Opus’, the feature single from his album of the same name. Despite being a veteran in the electronic dance music scene for over a decade, ‘Opus’ marked a significant moment as it was the lead single from his only album under his main moniker. The track is a masterpiece, beginning at a slow 31.5 BPM and gradually building up to an exhilarating 126 BPM over three minutes and 44 seconds of infectious synths and melodies. Spanning over nine minutes, ‘Opus’ is a journey through blissful sounds that exemplify Prydz’s unique production style. For over 20 years, Eric Prydz has been synonymous with immaculately produced and distinctive electronic music. The Platinum-selling artist is responsible for some of the biggest progressive house tracks and some of the most technically impressive live shows of any touring artist, including his HOLO/EPIC series. Prydz has headlined storied venues like Madison Square Garden, Brixton Academy, and Alexandra Palace, earned multiple Grammy nominations, hosted an ongoing radio show for Beats1, and topped charts with his alter-egos Pryda and Cirez D. Prydz‘s dedication to his craft as a producer and DJ allows him to appeal to both dance music’s underground connoisseurs and main-stage masses alike. Pryda, his most well-known alias, is renowned for its immaculately layered melodies and harmonies, creating a sound that has become almost a sub-genre in itself. Cirez D, on the other hand, showcases a stark contrast with stripped-back techno designed for dark, raw, and late-night sets. This diversity in his music underscores Prydz‘s versatility and his commitment to producing and playing the music he loves, unconstrained by expectations. ‘Opus’ remains a timeless single that continues to captivate audiences, embodying the innovative spirit and technical prowess of Eric Prydz.

The Weeknd Teases Rumored Collaboration With Skrillex
Just in time for summer fling breakup season, The Weeknd has returned to tease a rumored collaboration with Skrillex. Over the course of the last few years, the Canadian superstar has led fans to believe that his last two albums were the first and second chapters of a trilogy. It started with 2020's After Hours and continued with 2022's Dawn FM, which featured his collaboration with Swedish House Mafia, "Moth to a Flame." The Weeknd has now shared a lengthy glimpse into the trilogy's third entry, showcasing a rumored collaboration with Skrillex. Listen to SOPHIE's New Posthumous Single, "Berlin Nightmare"
A new posthumous song by SOPHIE, "Berlin Nightmare," has been released ahead of a highly anticipated self-titled album. Scheduled for release on September 27th via Transgressive and Future Classic, the album marks the first full-length project shared since SOPHIE's tragic death in January 2021. The new single, which features her former girlfriend Evita Manji, continues the sonic tribute begun with "Reason Why," a collaboration with Kim Petras that set the stage for what promises to be a dynamic and emotionally resonant album. "Berlin Nightmare" exemplifies a striking blend of acid techno with a minimalist and wonky sound. Co-produced with longtime collaborator Benny Long, the track presents a darker, grittier side of SOPHIE. The production is characterized by a stripped-back approach, navigating through a soundscape of surreal, discordant textures that feels both immersive and abstract. The result is an alluring song that captures SOPHIE's profound ability to blend the rhythmic with the avant-garde in a truly unique way. Presented as a narrative journey, SOPHIE's posthumous album is scheduled to release on September 27th. A statement from her family describes the forthcoming album as a profound reflection of her musical journey prior to her death. They emphasize that the project was envisioned with many close friends and collaborators, making it a deeply personal tribute to her artistic vision. The loss of the visionary producer after an accidental fall sent shockwaves across the global music community. SOPHIE was celebrated not only for her pioneering sound—a blend of hyperpop, electronica and underground dance infused with disorienting, warped elements—but also for her significant impact as a transgender music icon. She affirmed her identity in the 2017 video for "It’s Okay to Cry," using her platform to advocate for visibility and acceptance. Throughout her career, SOPHIE worked with a range of high-profile artists, including Madonna, Diplo, Camila Cabello and Charli XCX. The latter has spoken about how SOPHIE’s work profoundly impacted her own, honoring the late artist's legacy in the tribute track "So I" from her new album Brat. Fans can now pre-save SOPHIE and find "Berlin Nightmare" on streaming platforms here.

Inside the World of Lady Decibel: The Up-and-Coming Duo Making Waves
In this interview, we sit down with Lady Decibel, an emerging duo in the Electronic music scene known for their dynamic blend of House and Techno. From their early beginnings in Minnesota to becoming a rising DJ duo based in Orlando, Lady Decibel’s journey showcases their passion, resilience and creativity. As they carve out their unique sound and challenge industry norms, we explore their influences, creative process, and the evolving role of female DJs in the music world. Join us as we dive into their story, discover their new musical direction, and learn more about how they continue to innovate within the Electronic music scene. Hi Lady Decibel, how are you today? To start, can you tell us about your journey from Belarus and the Philippines to becoming a dynamic DJ duo based in Orlando? Hey there, we’re doing great, thanks for asking! Both our families immigrated to the US back in the 90s. Anya’s family came over in 1992 when she was just three months old. Can you imagine flying to America with a three-month-old? My family moved here in 1998 when I was 8 years old. We’re based in Orlando, Florida now, but we actually grew up in Minnesota, so we know all about those cold winters. We met during our first year at an all-women’s college in St. Paul, Minnesota. We were super young then—I was already dabbling in DJing, and Anya had never even been to a club before. I used to sneak her into shows, haha. Her first show was Benny Benassi, I think? Since then, we’ve been hooked on the scene. Around that time, I started making a name for myself, becoming the youngest female DJ in town to open for big names like Benny Benassi, Kaskade, and David Guetta. It was an exciting time for Electronic music, as it was just starting to go mainstream. I still remember 2009 like it was yesterday. That year, Dance music really took off in America. David Guetta’s album ‘One Love’ dropped, and tracks like ‘Memories’ with Kid Cudi and ‘Sexy B****’ with Akon were being played everywhere. The next year, I got to open for David Guetta at a sold-out show in Minneapolis when I was just 19. It was a wild ride! Your music blends House and Techno. How did you develop this signature sound? We’ve always been huge House fans and primarily played House music, but lately, Techno has really caught our attention. We didn’t listen to much Techno before because it didn’t click with us—probably because it lacked the melody and vocals we love. But in the past few years, Techno has gone through its own renaissance. Artists like Layton Giordani, Eli Brown, and Lilly Palmer have taken the genre by storm, pushing it in new creative directions. Right now, Lady Decibel is going through a big shift in style and sound. Our earlier releases were mostly House, but we’re now moving towards a mix of Dance and Techno. It’s like a blend of old-school Eurodance from the Y2K era with modern Techno. We’ve got a lot coming in the second half of this year, so stay tuned—we can’t wait to share our new sound with you! With roots in such diverse cultural backgrounds, how would you say your Filipino and Belarusian heritage influence your creative approach? Our families were all about karaoke, haha. Music was a huge part of our childhood. I’m Filipino, so I grew up with a baby bottle in one hand and a microphone in the other. Anya’s family loved their Russian karaoke parties too. Anya was really into Euro stuff like Eurodance, Europop, and mainstream Dance, while I was all about House and Dance. What Artists or genres would you say have inspired your style the most? The biggest influence on our music – Rollergirl. She’s a German act that took Europe by storm in the 2000s. I was about 14 when first heard “Luv U More”, and it’s one of our favourite Dance songs to date. Another huge influence was the Russian pop-duo t.A.T.u. Their career was nothing but controversy, but musically, their stuff was really, really good. Have you faced any challenges as a female DJ duo in a male-dominated industry, and how have you overcome them? So far, with Lady Decibel being this early on in the game, we haven’t faced any major challenges quite yet. However, being taken seriously in the industry is super important. With the internet and social media blowing up over the years, we’ve seen a lot of female DJs making their mark. But sometimes, we question if they’re genuine. On YouTube, you’ll find quite a few female DJs in provocative outfits, like full-on bikinis behind the decks. Is that really necessary? It makes you think—are they truly passionate about the music, or is it more about gaining followers and attention on social media? Plus, young kids, especially little girls, are going to look up to you. Is that really the image you want to project? How do you approach creating a new track? What is your typical workflow from concept to final production? We use Ableton Live and, honestly, 95% of the tracks we start are finished the same day. We believe the best songs come together in one day. From our experience, if you keep coming back to a track day after day, you can lose the main idea, and it just doesn’t sound as cohesive. Our process usually starts with finding a good vocal sample. Once we have that, we build the entire song around it—drums, bass, melodies, everything. We believe the voice is the best instrument, and if you have a track centered around a strong vocal, it usually ends up being really catchy and enjoyable. We aim to create tracks that people want to listen to over and over, whether they’re streaming it somewhere or hearing it on the radio. All our newest unreleased tracks were made with this approach, and we can’t wait to share them with everyone! For someone new to your music, which track would you recommend as the perfect introduction to Lady Decibel’s sound? So, our current catalog is kind of our “old” sound. It was all about experimenting and figuring out who we are as artists in the industry. Now, we’re shifting to a newer, fresher style of Dance and Techno. This is going to be Lady Decibel’s new signature sound from here on out, so keep an ear out for our future releases! How do you see the role of female DJs evolving in the future, and how do you hope to contribute to this evolution? We think female DJs are really starting to get the spotlight and influence they deserve in the music industry. With social media blowing up and everyone talking about diversity and inclusion, we see more and more opportunities for female DJs to shine and get the recognition they deserve. Personally, we want to be part of this wave by pushing boundaries and challenging old stereotypes. By putting out top-notch performances and fresh tracks, we hope to inspire other women to chase their dreams and help create a more welcoming and supportive scene for everyone. Can you share how you prepare for a live set? What do you aim to convey to your audience during your shows? Our set preparation process is a bit different compared to a lot of touring DJs. Some DJs play totally different sets every time, picking tracks on the fly based on the crowd, while others stick to mostly the same stuff from venue to venue. Many touring DJs only play about 20% of their own tracks live, but think about it—people came to see YOU. They want to hear YOUR songs and YOUR remixes, right? Our approach is more like live artists or bands. They usually have pre-planned sets with their own songs and maybe a few covers. We’re the same—if you come to a Lady Decibel show, you’ll hear mostly Lady Decibel tracks and IDs. We aim to play at least 50% of our own tracks or more in each live set. And just to be clear, pre-planned doesn’t mean pre-recorded. Every single show will be played live. We’re all about bringing back the vibe of the old rave days from the 90s and Y2K era. We want to revive that loving, carefree energy—everything that PLUR stood for. We’re talking stage dancers, bright colors, fur, and faster BPM Dance music. We want to truly bring back the rave and everything it represented. That’s what Lady Decibel is all about. It’s about reviving Dance music, bringing back that vibe, and uplifting the culture. Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about us, it’s about the people, the community, and the music that unites us all. Looking ahead, what goals are you hoping to achieve next? Lady Decibel’s future is shaping up to be really exciting. Right now, we’re focused on introducing our fresh sound, and looking ahead, we’re planning to release an album and go on our own tour. It’s our first year, and we’re ready to bring Dance and Techno to the forefront. Stay tuned for our upcoming releases! We wrap up this interview by thanking Lady Decibel for their time and for sharing a deeper look into their journey so far. From their roots in Minnesota to making waves in Orlando’s Electronic music scene, they embody the evolving landscape of Dance music and the increasing influence of female DJs. With a fresh new sound on the horizon and exciting plans for the future, Lady Decibel is set to continue leaving their own mark in the industry, so stay tuned for their upcoming releases and follow their journey, as this is just the beginning.
