  1. Marking the latest chapter in his prolific musical journey, Berlin-based record producer, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Monolink unveils his stunning new single, ‘Powerful Play’. The track is available now via Embassy One. The track follows the success of ‘Mesmerized’ in January and its stripped-back acoustic counterpart in February. In effect, ‘Powerful Play’ further demonstrates Monolink’s ability to craft immersive sonic experiences that resonate deeply with global audiences. He fuses evocative storytelling with his signature blend of organic instrumentation and electronic treatment, to explore themes of impermanence, presence, and the unstoppable rhythm of life. ‘Powerful Play’ With a deeply introspective and poetic essence built upon Monolink’s layered vocals, spirited rhythms, and poignant storytelling, ‘Powerful Play’ invites listeners to embrace the fleeting nature of existence. The song guides them to immerse themselves in the beauty of the moment; his distinctive blend of electronic beats and raw acoustic elements, serves as a perfect backdrop to the song’s profound lyrical depth. The single is accompanied by a visually arresting official music video, produced by the Copenhagen-based film production company FRANZI. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Vasco Alexandre, the video delves into the intimate and complex dynamics of siblinghood. It portrays the bond between two brothers as a fragile yet indestructible connection shaped by shared history and unspoken emotions. A ghostly presence or a spectral embodiment of their relationship shadows their journey. As a result, it symbolizes the silent struggles and triumphs that intertwine their lives. The film blends surreal imagery with stark reality. It captures the brothers in a dreamlike, psychedelic odyssey where the boundary between consciousness and subconsciousness blurs. The mysterious figure that follows them intensifies the eerie, chaotic undertone of their story, culminating in a cathartic release. In the video’s final sequence, the brothers break free in a sprint of pure, raw energy. They shed the weight of their past and embrace an unshackled future. This moment of liberation underscores the song’s central theme: no matter what trials we face, the powerful play goes on. Monolink once again showcases his ability to create music that resonates on both an emotional and philosophical level. This new single serves as an anthem for embracing the present, allowing the rhythm of life to unfold naturally. And finally, recognize the power of resilience and renewal. 2. John Summit returns with a powerful new single, ‘Light Years’, featuring the captivating vocals of Inéz. Out now on his own label Experts Only & Darkroom Records, the track continues Summit’s streak of emotional, melodic anthems that hit just as hard on the dancefloor as they do in your headphones. Opening with a spacey, synth-drenched atmosphere, ‘Light Years’ slowly builds into a pulsating tech house groove. Inéz’s haunting vocals float above airy pads and reverberated textures, adding depth and emotion to the mix. The drop delivers a hypnotic bassline and tight percussion — signature John Summit, but with a celestial twist. What sets ‘Light Years’ apart is its fusion of introspective lyricism and club-ready energy. The track balances vulnerability and power, a duality Summit has been exploring more in his recent work. 4. Good things take time, and great things can take 15 years to be perfect. Such is the case with one of the leading Techno DJs in the world. Belgian icon Charlotte de Witte just dropped massive news. In this case, the artist expressed on her social media that she will finally release an LP. The album will be coming on November 7th. Even though it’s towards the end of this year, we can’t help but “fangirl” over this major milestone for de Witte. De Witte’s Trajectory Charlotte has amassed incredible accolades without an album out. Her EPs are filled with hypnotic and driving tracks. Moreover, her atmospheric sounds teleport listeners to other realms, turning dancefloors into rituals. Her labels, KNTXT and Époque, represent top-notch artists in the scene, as well as honoring classic Trance artists with new mixes and reworks. Major achievements include being the first female Techno DJ to close out the Tomorrowland mainstage twice, once in Belgian in 2022 and then last year in Brazil. Moreover, she has been voted the World’s No. 1 Techno DJ by DJ Mag four years in a row. The ‘Overdrive’ producer will also be the first Female Techno DJ to close the Mainstage at Movement, the premier Detroit Techno Festival. As Detroit is the birthplace of Techno, being the closing DJ at Movement is considered an incredible achievement. Most recently, de Witte released a two-track EP with another first-class artist, Amelie Lens. The two hosted a sold-out, three-day event in their home country, Belgium, in Ghent. Flanders’ Expo saw over 69,000 attendees across all three days in support of the two Techno Titans. The announcement of a new album comes at the perfect time for Charlotte de Witte and the highlights of her career thus far. 7. When Sandstorm came out in 1999, it was impossible to predict just how far it would go. What started as an underground release from a Finnish producer slowly spread across clubs, radio, and eventually the internet. People didn’t just listen to it. They remembered it. Whether it was blasting through speakers at parties or popping up in early YouTube videos, the song stuck. Now in 2025, Sandstorm has crossed over 500 million streams on Spotify. That kind of number says something. It shows how many people have kept coming back to it over the years and how a single song, built on a simple loop and no lyrics, has managed to stay relevant for twenty-five years. The BeginningSandstorm was first released on October 26, 1999, through 16 Inch Records. It was later picked up by labels like Neo and Ministry of Sound, which helped bring it to a wider audience. The song started gaining real momentum in the UK, climbing to number 3 on the Singles Chart. In the US, it also made it onto Billboard’s dance listings. What set it apart was how bold and minimal it was. There were no vocals, just a fast, looping rhythm that kept people moving. At the time, trance music was starting to break into the mainstream, and Sandstorm played a big part in that shift. From Dancefloors to Memes to StadiumsOver the years, Sandstorm has shown up in all kinds of places. It became a go-to song at sports events, showed up in video games, and later found a home on Twitch streams and YouTube edits. By the early 2010s, it had taken on a new kind of fame online. The meme “What’s the song? It’s Sandstorm by Darude” became a running joke across comment sections and livestreams, giving the song a second life. What makes it stand out is how people keep finding it in different ways. Some heard it at clubs in the early 2000s. Others came across it in gaming clips or online compilations years later. And now a new generation is discovering it through short videos and festival clips. Somehow it keeps finding its way back. Half a Billion Streams and Still GrowingSandstorm recently passed 500 million streams on Spotify. That number speaks for itself. It shows just how many people have played, replayed, and kept coming back to a song that was released 25 years ago. It also stands out because it did this without vocals, without being remixed into something new, and without needing to chase trends to stay relevant. Darude thanked fans on social media with a simple message: “Over half a BILLION streams of Sandstorm on Spotify. Thank you for every listen.” Even after all this time, people are still pressing play. STORM 25 World Tour: The Celebration BeginsTo mark 25 years since the release of Sandstorm, Darude is launching the STORM 25 World Tour. It kicks off on March 28 in Sydney, Australia, followed by a stop in Auckland, New Zealand. More shows are expected across Europe, Asia, and North America. This tour is not just about looking back. It is a chance for longtime fans and new listeners to experience Darude’s work in a new way. The shows will feature updated visuals, reworked versions of older songs, and new material that reflects how his sound has evolved over time. Tour dates and tickets are available at www.Storm25.World. A Legacy That Transcends TimeFew songs have stood the test of time like Sandstorm. It’s a blueprint for how a single record, crafted with passion, simplicity, and just the right amount of madness, can go from local Finnish clubs to becoming a global staple. With 25 years of influence behind it and a world tour on the horizon, one thing is certain: A storm is still coming.

  9. In a future-changing decision, a federal appeals court has ruled that works created solely by artificial intelligence (AI) without any human involvement do not qualify for copyright protection in the United States. This ruling has significant implications for the future of AI-generated content in creative industries. The Case Behind The Ruling The case began after Dr. Stephen Thaler, a computer scientist, created an AI system called “Creativity Machine.” This machine eventually generated a digital artwork titled “A Recent Entrance to Paradise.” Thaler submitted a copyright application to the US Copyright Office, listing the Creativity Machine as the sole author of the work. However, the Copyright Office rejected the application, stating that the work must be authored by a human being, in line with the Copyright Act of 1976. Thaler challenged this decision, but the federal courts upheld the rejection. The District Court for the District of Columbia agreed with the Copyright Office, and the appeals court affirmed this ruling, reinforcing the importance of human authorship in the copyright process. The Court’s Reasoning and Implications Circuit Judge Patricia A. Millett, who wrote for the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, clarified that under the current Copyright Act, all work eligible for protection must be “Authorized in the first instance by a human being”. While acknowledging the potential for AI to contribute to creative processes, the court emphasized that any changes to copyright law should come from Congress, not the judiciary. The ruling follows a broader trend in copyright law, which has historically required human involvement in the creation of original work. Judge Millett pointed to previous cases, including one where a monkey’s selfie was deemed non-copyrightable, to underline that AI-generated content without human authorship falls outside the scope of copyright protection. Note: Not the actual image The Future of AI and Copyright Law While this decision impacts the AI field, the conversation about how much AI should contribute to creative works remains unresolved. The Copyright Office has allowed the registration of works where AI is used alongside human authors, but AI as the sole creator is still a gray area. As AI technology continues to advance, the debate over its role in copyright law will likely grow. For now, this ruling affirms the need for human authorship in the creative process, highlighting the importance of Congress revisiting copyright law to address the rapid growth of AI in artistic fields. For our music community, this is great news as well. Artist can continue to work knowing their careers are safe from unoriginal “Artwork” flooding the industry. 14. The world of electronic dance music is about to witness the rise of a young prodigy. 13-year-old DJ sensation Dario Di Bona is set to release his debut single “Jaded” on March 21st through record label Tankfloor/WMG, marking the beginning of what promises to be an extraordinary career. Born in Padua, Italy, and raised in Geneva, Switzerland, Dario discovered his passion for electronic music at the tender age of four. A vacation to Ibiza first ignited his love for DJing when he was mesmerized by a beach club performance. A few months later, another electrifying experience in Courmayeur, Italy, solidified his dream. That same day, he asked his father for a mixer, determined to master the craft. By the age of seven, Dario took the stage for the first time at a beach club party in Italy, making 1,000 people dance. His career skyrocketed from there. At eight, he made his debut in Dubai and was interviewed by the iconic Italian DJ Albertino on Radio Deejay. That same year, he played his first major event: a New Year’s Eve party in Venice, Italy, captivating an audience of 18,000. His rise continued with a feature on the cover of South America’s Rocking Talent magazine. A short video of his DJ set in Venice garnered over 2 million views on Instagram, and at the age of nine, he took Ibiza by storm with a live DJ set on Ibiza Global Radio, amassing another 1 million Instagram views. That summer, he also performed in Formentera at the iconic Chezz Gerdi beach club. At just ten years old, Dario played a massive beach club event for 10,000 people, followed by a stunning open-air festival performance in his hometown of Padua, where he made 80,000 people dance in Prato della Valle, the largest square in Europe. The following year, he graced clubs in Rome, Geneva, and Monte Carlo, delivering an emotional performance at Extra Extra, a legendary venue where his parents once met. In 2024, Dario Di Bona took the stage at the third Ibiza Global Festival, where his set was met with great enthusiasm from the audience. 15. The Adriatic Sound Festival reveals a RÜFÜS DU SOL DJ set and details of the additional Hanger Stage for Fano, Italy alongside Armand Van Helden, Sven Väth, Green Velvet, Stephan Bodzin (Live), Nic Fanciulli, Avision, Franky Wah, among others within the two-day techno and house paradise on June 13th and 14th. Adriatic Sound Festival Lineup [Phase 1] Tickets The visionary behind the festival, Luca Lewis, just retired from professional soccer playing for the New York Red Bulls and is on to share a premier class festival designed by blending Roman history with bold innovation along the Adriatic coast. To discover more about the festival we were pleased to get a moment of Luca’s time as he prepares for the inaugural Adriatic Sound Festival with his seasoned collaborative partners. The first question the internet wants to know is how often do you think of the Roman Empire? Luca: Pretty often. Probably everyday. I have to. I really studied it. I did a little bit when I was in school, but I didn’t really care for it until I saw Fano and I really understood the city of Fano and the connection between Ancient Rome and Fano, their capital on the Adriatic coast. There’s a reason why they picked Fano, the Romans knew what they were doing. They were so beyond their time. Like our slogan, “Beyond Time.” That is why the city of Fano is where we’re doing the festival. So there is this arch in Fano called the Arch of Augustus, the portal into the Adriatic Sea from the Roman Empire, from Rome. Now we are basing a stage off that Roman arch where Augustus and Julius Caesar marched from Rome into the Adriatic coast. Perfect. Well tomorrow is the Ides of March, so there is some significance to this day even. Is there somewhere we can read a little more about this history lesson? Luca: Yeah I can send you something. Also, the Gladiator movie happened in this time frame of the festival date. Okay, nice thanks! Luca went on to direct us to this article, Discover Fano: A Historical Gem in Marche, Italy. So where are you at with planning the festival this week? Luca: We’re about to announce phase two of our headlining artists. So now I was on the call with our marketing team trying to figure out the right dates to announce it and we’re creating all this really cool material to post on social media and then of course speaking to Motif on the press and when to release everything. But yeah, we got a lot of big news next week. We’re gonna have a full lineup announced and one of our headlining artists announced a special guest. Ok nice! So please tell us a little bit about the stage design. Luca: Yeah, why we came up with this stage was because I always wanted to go to a festival where the artist was in the middle. I hate being too far or I hate when everyone is on top of the DJ and like taking pictures and pushing the DJ around. So that’s something I have spoken to my DJ friends about that they hate too. So I was like, okay, let’s try to design something where the DJ is like the emperor of this new city. Like Ancient Rome. We took reference of a bunch of different Roman structures like the Pantheon. So from a bird’s eye view our stage looks exactly like the Pantheon. We took that and then we took the Arch of Augustus, then we put it upside down to create the infinity sign. So that’s why it’s called the Infinity stage. So then all the people would be around the DJ in the middle. And then you have the DJs in this platform that also rotates slowly in a 360 turn. How awesome. Luca: Yeah. I was lucky enough to meet Zarya and Rick from STUFISH, the stage designers. They’re amazing. Source I’m sure. How long have you guys been talking about this and how long do you think it’ll take to set up the whole stage? Luca: Well, the whole project started this summer. This summer I still had my full time job playing soccer. And then we started on this idea. I met STUFISH in September, we announced the festival in October. The build out is not too long. It’s like 10 days. But I’m sure that the fabricators will take a while to build it. It’s a 9 meter by 6 meter structure. Okay, nice. Will it take a whole empire of people to set up? Luca: Well, I was counting yesterday. I think all in, we’re probably at like 400 people between security, fabricators, lighting, food and beverage. Like four or five hundred people working in the festival. Which is nice. It’s something that I really like and the city stressed – to use a lot of local workers. So I’m happy that we are able to give back to them because they are allowing us to do this. Yeah, that’s great. Let’s see… How was the process of finding each artist for the lineup like? Luca: Yeah, so the hardest part was convincing them to play it at a “first-year” festival. I reached out to the artist management and they shut me down right away. They were asking me who’s your headliner? I was like “well I contacted you because I want you to be my headliner.” And they were like they couldn’t. It was so hard to get to break through to the first artist. Our first artist was Sven Väth who believed in the project he saw. His manager took the time and reviewed it. I showed him all the stage designs and all that and he jumped on board and then everyone followed in a way because you know Sven Väth is an icon. Some of them I personally liked a lot. Some of the artists that we picked I wasn’t so familiar with but I have other guys on our team who are even more invested than me into techno and house so they suggested various artists and we went that route too. But I think you’ll see our running order makes a lot of sense. It’s very difficult to pick and choose the artist in the running order because some artists don’t want to play before someone who may not have a similar musical tone. Sure. So how many artists are going to be on the lineup at the end of the day? Luca: 28. 28 main artists plus four more local acts. The 28 acts start at 2:30 in the afternoon and they go until 2:30 in the morning. Great that runs pretty late. Are you guys gonna do any hotel takeovers or recommend any hotels to go to or after parties? Luca: So we have hotels on our website that we’re affiliated with. We have our own pre parties which are gonna be announced soon. We’re doing one Thursday party that i’s gonna be very intimate. And there’s gonna be two. Its gonna be in this really, really cool church that caught on fire like 300, 400 years ago. The roof got blown off so it’s like an outdoor church. It’s really, really cool. So we’re gonna do a party there and then there’s this renaissance fortress, a massive fortress. So those are the launch parties to the festival and then Sundays there’s beach parties and all of that. Yeah, exactly. People are going to be inspired. Where are the beach parties going to be located? Luca: All along the Riviera, the Adriatic coast, so from Pesaro to Fano to Ancona, there will be beach parties. We’re on the water, so you can walk to them. Very nice. That’ll be fun. What are the best clubs or events in New York? Luca: I really have a lot of respect for Teksupport here in New York and the events they do in Brooklyn, I usually go to those. Then they really created something unique at the Navy Yard. And this place called Hearsay is nice. They usually have all the better DJs. Okay good word, who have you been going to see lately? Luca: I saw Marco Carola a couple weeks ago. Then I saw Adam Beyer and also Guy Gerber recently. Good choices, Guy Gerber, one of the better sets for sure. So what was the first thing to bring this festival from an idea into a reality? Luca: Well, I was driving around where I grew up, right next to Fano, driving with my friend and we saw the airport and I was like, this would be perfect for a festival. It is so good for a festival here because the airport is gated in on the beach. Then he’s like, “oh, well, there is new Mayor coming into town, taking over, who’s more open to these kinds of ideas.” And then we presented the project and the Mayor of the city allowed us to do this. That was really big for us, that’s how it started. Luca Serfilippi Once we had the approval from the city we had to create a brand, find artists, and stage designers in like less than eight months even. Okay, so how has the city been supporting the festival? Luca: They’re kind of just helping us all around. They are very supportive and love the project Okay, yeah I don’t want to get too much into the Italian politics… So let’s keep it light. What was one of your favorite moments while playing soccer? You know, one of those moments that will live with you forever. I would say probably when I got called up to the U.S. national team. That and when I signed for the New York Red Bull. That was my first professional contract so that was probably one of the best moments. Any championships that you remember or epic goal saves? When I was under 18 we won the u18 Serie A Title. I was playing in Italy, it was in Torino, where we played Inter Milan. We were young, we were just 18 but we won the league. That was nice. And then another game and I was playing in Cesena FC. It was the Derby against Reggiana. That was like probably 20,000 people sold out. I was like this is crazy. Smoke in the air. It’s a pretty cool game. We lost, but it was a cool game. Haha heck yeahh! Okay, so how can people get involved? Luca: We actually have a fill out form on our website for whatever you may want to do for the festival. We got hundreds of requests from food trucks to volunteer to work at the festival. So that was nice. We have I believe eight specialty food trucks. Not really food trucks, they are restaurants from Fano. They’re going to be in a food truck set up. Are you gonna bring your new Piadas from your new restaurant Casa Piada, in NYC? Luca: Well, funny enough we import the bread from Fano. Our bakery is actually about 1 km from the festival. So we’re going to have a stand at the festival. Nice! Okay people reading this, let’s show some love by fist pumping those Piadas all weekend long! Alright so as the final word, what’s one track you would like to send people off on their day with? I would say ‘Kiss From A Rose’ by Green Velvet and Marco Lys The post Meet Luca Lewis, from Pro Soccer to Curating the Adriatic Sound Festival appeared first on EDM | Electronic Music | EDM Music | EDM Festivals | EDM Events.

  25. Arash "Ash" Pournouri, the former manager of Avicii, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Avicii: True Stories director Levan Tsikurishvili, reigniting long-standing tensions over how the late EDM icon's story has been told. Filed in Stockholm District Court, the suit claims the 2017 documentary misrepresents Pournouri’s role in Avicii’s career, specifically accusing the film of portraying him as someone who pressured the legendary DJ to perform against medical advice, the Sweden Herald reports. Pournouri reportedly plans to pursue the case as a private prosecution against Tsikurishvili. While he had previously raised concerns about the film's portrayal of him, a recent Instagram post from Tsikurishvili appears to have prompted the legal action. Although he never specifically mentioned Pournouri, Tsikurishvili stated in his Swedish-language post that the film was about Tim—not anyone else—and claimed that if they had gone deeper into a "certain person's" role, it would have been "1000% worse" for him. View the original article to see embedded media. While he didn't specifically mention Tsikurishvili, Pournouri addressed the situation in a statement released on his Instagram and LinkedIn pages, citing "a false external narrative which, out of respect for Tim’s memory and family, I have actively chosen not to engage in." "That courtesy has not been extended to me," Pournouri wrote. "Lies and false accusations by certain individuals continue with the aim of causing me harm and to profit from a tragedy. Consequently, I have been left with no other choice but to file lawsuits with the main objective for the lies to stop and the facts to be known, once and for all." View the original article to see embedded media. In court documents reviewed by the Herald, Pournouri allegedly argues that Avicii: True Stories was selectively edited in a way that damaged his reputation and career. The amount in damages he is seeking has not been disclosed at the time of this writing. Tsikurishvili has yet to respond publicly to the lawsuit.
