Amba Shepherd's "Wild Hearts" Is an Electro Anthem for the Untamed: Listen
With her new single "Wild Hearts," Amba Shepherd doesn't just challenges boundaries—she sets them ablaze and dances in the inferno. EDM enthusiasts will recognize Shepherd as the stentorian voice behind Hardwell's 2012 generational dance anthem "Apollo" as well as major collaborations with Porter Robinson, Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Afrojack and many other electronic music icons. She goes solo, however, in "Wild Hearts," a house anthem for the feral spirits lurking within polite society. Through a four-on-the-floor beat crackling with energy, she dares you to go on a midnight car chase with your own demons: "Into the wild we go," she declares. And suddenly you're there, tasting freedom on your tongue. A whiplash of raw emotion, Shepherd's voice then carves a luminous path through an electro-tinged drop with synths that slice like razors, leaving behind a trail of shattered expectations. "Wild hearts can't be broken," she belts out with gold-painted middle fingers. You can listen to "Wild Hearts" below and find the new single on streaming platforms here. Martin Garrix’s ‘High on Life’: Celebrating 6 Uplifting Years
One of Martin Garrix’s top singles ‘High On Life’ turns 6 years old today! This is a song that quickly took over the festival scene back in 2018 upon its release on July 29. It became a fan favorite and a staple as a closing song in nearly all of Martin Garrix’s sets. I’ve heard this song at numerous festivals, like at Knock Knock in Pattaya where Martin Garrix rang in the New Year with it, and at Neon Countdown in Bangkok where it was the perfect opener and closer for the first day of 2024! Released on July 29, 2018, ‘High on Life’ features the soulful vocals of Bonn and quickly rose to prominence, becoming a festival staple. Its release coincided with Martin Garrix‘s electrifying performance at Tomorrowland, where it was unveiled to the world. To feel high on life till the day we die is a sentiment felt globally, as it reminds us that life is something to be enjoyed till our last breath. In an interview, Martin Garrix talked about how his song ‘High On Life’ was made to bring people joy and togetherness. He wanted to create a sense of inclusion for listeners. The track achieves this by uniting diverse audiences, all drawn together by their shared appreciation for the music and the experience. ‘High On Life’ remains influential among fans even beyond festivals, embodying the essence of joy and independence. This song doesn’t just mark the end of amazing nights; it sparks the beginning of exciting journeys, solidifying its status as a lasting classic in the EDM genre. As we commemorate the sixth anniversary of ‘High On Life,’ it’s evident that this song is not simply music—it serves as a wellspring of motivation and vitality. Martin Garrix‘s masterpiece has demonstrated that certain melodies don’t just withstand the test of time; they evolve into anthems that unite audiences for years on end.

Released 14 Years Ago: Steve Angello – Knas
Let’s take it back to the golden days of dance music. More precisely, 2010, the year Steve Angello released his all time classic ‘Knas‘, an electro house masterpiece that gets played even these days and makes the crowds go crazy. Having spent much time on the White Isle, the track gained popularity in clubs such as Pacha Ibiza where Angello would headline shows together with his friends Sebastian Ingrosso & Axwell. With so much hype built around it, the song reached big names in the industry like Tiesto and David Guetta while also receiving air time from Pete Tong during some of his BBC Radio 1 shows. ‘Knas‘ is not a complex track, it is built around a catchy loop and bassline that are just pleasing to the listener. The way Steve Angello managed to create such a simple track yet an iconic sound shows how great of a producer he is. ‘Knas‘ is still part of Swedish House Mafia’s sets as well as Angello’s solo tracklist, proving that it is just timeless. One of the most famous mashups in EDM history is Steve’s ‘Show Me Love vs. Knas,’ a mashup so iconic it could have its own Grammy. In 2024, with electro house pretty much gone from the biggest stages of the world, it is nice to see tracks like this one keeping the genre and its atmosphere alive. Stream the single below.

Listen to Boombox Cartel's "Proof of Life" Album, a Stunning Showcase of Versatility and Vulnerability
Boombox Cartel has released Proof of Life, a stunning song-cycle that paints a picture of the search for hope in the throes of desolation. Released via his own Monta label, the album is masterstroke of storytelling through electronic music. Exploring the theme of disillusionment, Proof of Life dabbles in the sounds of trap, midtempo, drum & bass, house and more through its 18 tracks, guiding us through the mind of Boombox Cartel, who called it the "biggest emotional rollercoaster" of his life. "all the songs on proof of life spoke to me like no other, i’ve been holding on and working on these songs for years and i felt anxious at the thought of letting these die in my harddrive," he said in an Instagram post. "these songs have been so timeless and meant so much in my private life and i am so proud to share them with you all." View the original article to see embedded media. Starting off as an apocalyptic film might, the titular track "Proof of Life" sets the scene of a dark, ominous desertscape before Lyves' vocals ring out in a yearning call to anyone else who remains alive. They then bring the ensuing "Hold Me" to life by delivering a drum & bass stunner with a soulful twist. "Venture" then brings out the optimistic curiosity of venturing around a wasteland, giving way to a euphoric drop reminiscent of newly found hope. "Lowlife," a collaboration with Nevve, beautifully builds off that audacious energy before "SPEED RUN" dials it up to a fever pitch through hauntingly futuristic house beats, a stark contrast to the album's cautious beginnings. An undeniable highlight on the album's journey is the balmy "In Our Lungs," a heartfelt future bass anthem. Here, Griff Clawson's vocals ache with longing as Boombox Cartel interpolates fluttering acoustic plucks perfect for a summer drive. The emotional rollercoaster chugs on through a pleasantly disorienting mix of brooding beats, like "Guide You," which features the talented MKLA. On the flip side, the banging "Bossed Up" ventures into territory familiar for fans of Boombox Cartel. Oakland rapper Guapdad 4000 steps into a slinking, sly trap beat like a fox in a chicken coop. The same goes for "Can't Talk" (with Famous Dex) and "Back Again" (with Nessly), each of which prove the artist hasn't lost sight of his love for trap bangers. Though Boombox Cartel artfully blurs genres across his debut album, each of its tracks are rooted in his signature blend of thunderous production and visceral songwriting. In the end, listeners are left with the feeling that they, too, can imbue meaning and purpose into their own lives in the face of disillusionment. Austin Millz and Tommy Genesis Team Up for Sultry Club Heater, "Church"
Hot off the heels of a European tour, Austin Millz is keeping energy levels high with a new single, "Church." The Harlem-born DJ and producer has teamed up with red-hot rapper Tommy Genesis for the sizzling club tune, which marries propulsive house beats with sultry vocals. "Church" flows with a dark and sensual slink, setting the stage for dancing the night away at an underground venue dripping in sweat. Crisp percussion and spicy lyrics collide as Genesis begs you to get lost in the moment and bask in Millz's unruly club energy. Her lyrical style leans toward spoken-word, but through a primal, lustful lens. "I could take you to the underground," she tantalizingly taunts. In other Millz news, the surging dance music producer recently performed at Austria's Electric Love Festival and Switzerland's Montreux Jazz Festival, with a sun-kissed set at Palm Springs' Splash House coming in August. He's also set to continue his Las Vegas DJ residency at the Wynn through September 8th. Listen to "Church" below and find the new single on streaming platforms here. DubVision Blend Sentimental Songwriting With Soaring Soundscapes in Debut Album, "Another World"
In the current state of dance music, where the art often leans towards the minimal, DubVision's debut album boldly embraces a maximalist approach, flooding listeners with welcome waves of emotion and nostalgia. Another World, out now on Martin Garrix's STMPD RCRDS after years in the making, stands as a vibrant testament to the Dutch dance music duo's uplifting melodies and heartfelt lyricism, which refuses to shy away from complicated emotions. DubVision.Kelly Knisel The highly collaborative project includes two collaborations with Garrix: "Empty," where they alchemize anthemic leads with melancholic lyrics about seeking fulfillment; and "Wherever You Are," which continues the emotional journey by blending soul-searching lyrics with euphoric sounds that feel like a nod to the storied heights of progressive house. The album's collaboration with Afrojack, "Underwater," mirrors the impassioned complexity found in "Empty." With lyrics centered on the need to let go of toxic relationships, the track's soaring production creates an exhilarating and simultaneously nostalgic experience. As Another World progresses, each track adds a new layer to the emotional landscape. Its closer, "Home," is a fitting conclusion. With bright strings, spritely piano chords and warm, reassuring lyrics, it captures the essence of finding one’s place after a long and tumultuous journey. Much like the album itself, the track, which features a powerful vocal performance by STMPD favorite Shaun Farrugia, reflects DubVision's personal and artistic growth over years of realized successes one step at a time. Daktyl Stuns With Playful Innovation and Emotional Depth on New bitbird EP, "Wave"
As Daktyl, like many artists, navigates the turbulent waters of a career in music, his new EP emerges as an indication of creative clarity. With a distinguished career marked by collaborations with Diplo, What So Not and many other dance heavyweights, Daktyl continues to be the gold standard for indie-electronic music. He reinforces that reputation with Wave, out now on San Holo's bitbird imprint. Daktyl.Kevin Charles Macaraeg Opening with "We Lost Track Of Time," the EP immediately sets a playful yet introspective tone. This track is a fluttery cascade of vocal chops and light, airy production, punctuated by reassuring ad-libs that wrap around the listener like a comforting embrace. It's an invitation to drift away and lose yourself in the haze of the music. The titular "Wave," featuring the talented Alice Ivy, sweeps in with rhythmic vocal chops and lead synths with vocaloid-like textures. The track ebbs and flows, much like the emotional tides it aims to represent, drawing us into its current. Meanwhile, "Idols," a collaboration with Lizzy Land, shifts the EP into funkier territory. Twangy strings dance around pitch-bending melodies, creating wavy tones that mix seamlessly with a kinetic undercurrent. It’s a track that grooves with a sense of freedom and playfulness, inviting listeners to find their rhythm within the chaos. Closing the EP is "Little Light," a track that cuts through the noise with its poignant lyrics and soulful vocal delivery from Zeke Finn, whose lyrics paint a vivid picture of finding one’s true calling amidst the turbulence of modern life. "This EP is kind of an ode to that presence and the realization that it’s kind of all that matters," Daktyl said in a press release. "It was also born from the realization that we have more control over our emotions and our actions than we are led to believe. Life can feel overwhelming and draining in modern times, but realizing it’s all just a wave is the first step in accepting it as it is and making the most of it." EDMTunes New Music Friday – Week 30
Listen to the most flavour-packed tracks we discovered this week. Music makes the world go round. And in that regard, we’re constantly on the lookout for new, exciting tunes to share with our audience. We’ve found some that cause goosebumps, and make you open your eyes and get up from your chair to dance. So put on your best pair of headphones, or turn up your speakers, and enjoy this week’s New Music Friday. Here are our top picks for the best music we came across this week, in no particular order. And remember, if you would like to contact us for a chance to feature your track on our page, head over to this link right here. Max Porcelli – Lotus Genre: Organic House Max Porcelli is a highly respected Italian electronic music producer and DJ. With a career spanning decades, he has established himself as a prolific and versatile artist. As the founder of 989Records, he has championed a diverse range of electronic music while collaborating with artists worldwide. His latest release came out today, and it’s titled ‘Lotus‘. This tune is a soft and warm coat on a cold winter night. That’s what it feels like: it’s got warm leads, organic percussion all over, and air instruments that can only complete an already beautiful picture. If you’re looking for an intelligent record, look no further. Trance Wax – Talamanca Genre: Trance (Old School) Trance Wax is bringing all the heat today! He once gained notoriety for his innovative reworks of Classic Trance tracks, but now he’s out there, and he’s the one producing these Classic Trance belters. Look no further than his latest record, ‘Talamanca‘, out now on, yes baby, Bebé Recordings of all places. This one is a bouncy piece. You’ll love it if you love Trance Wax’s style, because this is core, pure, unadulterated Trance Wax. A muffled kick, a 909 hat, open pads, and a galloping bass are all he needs to make these kinds of wonders. It’s a minimalistic approach to the music released 30 years ago, and we dig it because of that. cell m8 – dreams. x Genre: Breakbeat, UK Garage Screenshot We truly want to know, how hasn’t cell m8 blown up yet? A few months back we shared his debut tune ‘stay. x’, which was a lovely piece of Breakbeat/Trance hybrid. Now he comes back to our series in the form of what he likes to call the “cell m8 foneline edit” of Gabrielle‘s ‘Dreams‘. And, oh boy, is it good. The sped-up vocal and the Trance arpeggios work really well when playing over this broken beat, so iconic and so signature of him. We tried to avoid turning the volume of our speakers up, but we couldn’t. Who would have thought chopped vocals, chopped beats, and long Reese basses would go so well together? cell_m8 · gabrielle – dreams. x (cell m8 foneline edit) Are you a producer and you want your song featured on EDMTunes? Follow this link right here. thinkinsounds – Noon Sun (EddyThron pres. Aloft Remix) Genre: Organic House EddyThron, a rising star in the Electronic music scene, continues to make waves with his Aloft side project. Following the success of his 2023 EP, Flying Over The Bare Ocean, and subsequent singles such as ‘Last Goodbyes’, the artist graced the world with his fifth release of the year, showing no signs of slowing down. This week, he released a new remix of the track ‘Noon Sun‘ by Romanian duo thinkinsounds. The remix, which is part of a larger remix EP, showcases EddyThron’s ability to reimagine a track while preserving its core elements. His signature style, characterized by a heavy emphasis on percussion and melodic experimentation, is evident in this new record. Factor B & Lovlee – Wondering [Your Love Leaves Me] Genre: Trance Factor B. What a way to end this week’s NMF on a beautiful, tear-inducing note. This man is the embodiment of someone who can make you go full cutting-onions mode while watching him play. He lives music to the fullest, and in doing so he kindly invites the attendees to feel the same safety of simply bawling their eyes out. He’s now teamed up with Lovlee, an artist with a beautiful voice, and together they’ve unleashed ‘Wondering [Your Love Leaves Me]‘. BRING BACK TRACKS THIS LONG PLEASE. Paul van Dyk Releases Ibiza Residency Official Anthem ‘Shine Together Now’
The Trance master, with a Trance residency, now has a Trance anthem to go along with it. Paul van Dyk. The legend himself. For those visiting Ibiza this summer, among the uncountable amount of residencies the island offers, the German maestro is currently hosting one at the legendary Eden club in San Antonio, and it’s called SHINE Ibiza. Just one month into the season, the event series has already made a name for itself — and how wouldn’t it. SHINE Ibiza has solidified its position as a premier electronic music event on the island. By curating a diverse lineup of both established and emerging DJs, the event has captivated audiences worldwide. The carefully crafted atmosphere, coupled with the stunning Ibiza backdrop, has made SHINE a must-attend for electronic music enthusiasts. Some of the DJs on the SHINE lineup are — buckle up — Aly & Fila, Bryan Kearney, John O’Callaghan, Solarstone, Jordan Suckley, Shugz, John 00 Fleming, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Marc van Linden, Ciaran McCauley (both as himself and his Elï alter ego), Weekend Heroes, Paul Thomas, Sean & Dee, Fuenka, SISKIN, Talla 2XLC, and Chris Bekker. And the season will have not one, but two open-to-close sets by Paul van Dyk. For 25 years of VANDIT, van Dyk’s label, I see it as a worthy celebration. ‘Shine Together Now’ This record serves as the official anthem of this year’s SHINE Ibiza residency, and it is a track Paul crafted alongside Liverpool’s Amos & Riot and Northampton’s Matt Noland. ‘Shine Together Now‘ is euphoric, it’s trancy, clever, elegant, and uplifting, all at the same time. The track does a good job of making you fly, much like you’d expect from a Paul van Dyk release. By the way, you’re still on time to catch him at any of his Ibiza shows through September. Look at the different lineups below, and make sure to sit down so you don’t faint: Listen to Paul van Dyk, Amos & Riot Night, and Matt Noland‘s ‘Shine Together Now‘ below for your beloved Spotify play. EddyThron Remixes thinkinsounds’ ‘Noon Sun’ Under The Aloft Subalias
Looking for a groovy Organic House track? This one’s for you. Wink wink. EddyThron is not slowing down. He’s turned heads with his Aloft side project, first with his Flying Over The Bare Ocean EP in 2023, and this year with tracks such as ‘Callao & Santa Fe’, and ‘Last Goodbyes’ with Diego Hernan. Now, Eddy hands the world his fifth release of the year as EddyThron pres. Aloft, with a groovy remix of the thinkinsounds’ single, ‘Noon Sun’. Romanian duo thinkinsounds released the Sake EP in late 2023, on Madloch’s Future Avenue, sister label to 3rd Avenue, imprint which welcomed Aloft’s ‘Callao & Santa Fe’ earlier this year. Today, the duo sees their EP retweaked in the form of the Noon Sun (Remixes) EP, which contains four reimaginations of the two tracks, one of which is Eddy’s take on ‘Noon Sun’. “When Dom (Madloch) asked me to remix ‘Noon Sun’, my mind took a different approach to listening to the track, and instead of taking the piece in as a whole, I started thinking of how to flip it my way”, says Eddy. “I loved the tension of some elements in there, so I borrowed them and built something a bit groovier, perhaps even darker. I also experimented with a new melody layer on top which reminds me of my mate Eugenio Sanchez Moreno. Hope he’s cool with me taking inspiration from his gipsy-leaning sound, haha!”. “When Dom (Madloch) asked me to remix ‘Noon Sun’, my mind took a different approach to listening to the track, and instead of taking the piece in as a whole, I started thinking of how to flip it my way.” -EddyThron thinkinsounds — Noon Sun (EddyThron pres. Aloft Remix) Eddy’s take on ‘Noon Sun’ retains the core chords, textures and elements from the original, and drives the arrangement into a new direction. Taking advantage of the tense chord progression, he built an uncountable fortress of percussive elements around the melodies, effectively elevating the piece a couple notches, and making his remix remarkably distinct from the original. The cherry on top is a gipsy-like melody added by him, claiming the protagonist’s role halfway through the duration. The track was first premiered in January, during Eddy’s 4-hour-long set in Mar del Plata, Argentina, one of the stops of his tour in that country earlier in the year. The set features a good chunk of his repertoire, such as his remix of Daft Punk’s ‘Veridis Quo’, ‘Hints Of Life In Dark Places’, and some IDs still not revealed to the public. You Cannot Miss These Sets At Tomorrowland Weekend 2
Wondering where to go while at Tomorrowland this weekend? Stress no more. One of the world’s largest gatherings year-round is about to begin. Tomorrowland is getting its doors ready for an impressive congregation of ravers and music lovers, for the usual two weekends in Belgian grounds. All artists and stages are already written down and posted for everyone to have a look and decide where to be at, and at what time. But it is super overwhelming. Given the amount of DJs playing at all times, we’ve decided to break it down and pick our top sets for each day of Weekend 2. So, if you’re heading over to Tomorrowland and your brain is melting a bit from too much info, sit down, relax, and read on. Here are our top sets you cannot miss this weekend at Tomorrowland, in no particular order. Friday Swedish House Mafia Mainstage — 22:50 – 23:50 Yes, the exact same act, the exact same stage and the exact same timeslot as last weekend. But honestly, who can we blame? It’s the Swedish House Mafia. We now have a reference of what they played last Friday, and, to be frank, I don’t think anyone would complain if they played roughly the same tonight. So. Many. Memories! (did you see the video of the girl going “DALEEEEE, PA PAAAA” during ‘Greyhound’? She’s our spiritual raver.) Hardwell Mainstage – 23:50 – 00:50 We saw him last Friday. Pure bliss. We wish it had lasted longer! But fear no more: for all the Mainstage goers who are going to be left buzzing tonight, right after SHM, Dutch icon Hardwell will be in charge of closing Tomorrowland’s most iconic spot. We’re still recovering from his Freedom set, so we’re craving more of him! HI-LO Atmosphere Stage – 21:00 – 23:00 The man, the legend. Back in the times when Martin Garrix was serenading the world with ‘Animals’, this man put out ‘Gecko’ and broke the internet just as much. Ten years ago, Oliver Heldens kicked off his side project HI-LO, focused on a harder Electro-then-gone-Techno alias that’s now arguably even greater than his main moniker. Don’t miss what he’s got to say at Atmosphere. Are you a producer and you want your song featured on EDMTunes? Follow this link right here. Saturday Koven Planaxis Stage – 22:00 – 23:00 If you’re looking to have a great time, go see Katie. Koven is a stellar duo, producing bangers on a handful of speeds and styles. Their Drum & Bass is perhaps their most recognisable sound, but they have a core essence that is so unique to them that it’s unmistakable. Also, Katie’s energy while playing? Absolute crush. A-Trak B2B The Magician The Library – 20:00 – 21:00 These two have made history, even if they don’t sound familiar straight away. While A-Trak is famous for his ‘Heads Will Roll’ remix, The Magician made a name for himself remixing Lykke Li’s ‘I Follow Rivers’. If you haven’t sung both of these… no, you must be lying. Catch them going back-to-back for one happy hour at The Library. Armin van Buuren Mainstage – 21:25 – 22:25 We witnessed Armin close the Mainstage last Friday in style. He played bangers old and new, even pleasing Old-School Trance fans. The icing on the cake? He closed by inviting Rob Swire, legendary vocalist of Pendulum and 1/2 of Knife Party, to sing their upcoming ID, ‘Sound Of You’ live. We’re eagerly awaiting to see what Armin van Buuren has planned this weekend. Sunday Tale Of Us Freedom – 22:00 – 23:30 Yup, Swedish House Mafia are not the only ones to repeat their slot, stage and act. We also welcome back to Freedom label founders Tale Of Us, the heads leading the Afterlife movement. Their Melodic Techno style has transcended every single boundary, and they’ll be closing the stage on Sunday with an hour-and-a-half set. John Summit Crystal Garden – 20:30 – 22:00 Don’t we all love this guy? John Summit himself, the man who introduced the Tech House sound that is much more melodic and apt for all ears than its historic counterpart, is playing at Crystal Garden on Sunday. We can’t wait to hear his biggest hits and upcoming chart toppers live, with the smile and energy he’s known for. Amelie Lens Atmosphere Stage – 20:30 – 22:30 She’s won over our hearts. She was once a devoted clubber. And now… she still is! Whenever Amelie Lens is not demolishing entire crowds with her furious, irresistible Techno beats, you can catch her in that very crowd, enjoying the feeling of listening to music just like her attendees. Catch her at Atmos this Sunday. Final Words And that’s it! Did we miss anything? We hope you have the best weekend at Tomorrowland, and we can’t wait to see what goes down during the final days of this edition of the festival. See you there!
