  1. Kasablanca have struck a chord once again, this time fueling a '90s classic with new life as their explosive cover of The Prodigy’s "Breathe" hits streaming services. What started as a spontaneous, fan-favorite live performance has now been immortalized, thanks in part to the blessing of The Prodigy themselves. First unveiled during their performance at 2023's Above & Beyond Group Therapy Weekender, Kasablanca's stunning reinvention of the band's generational anthem redefines it for a new era of dance music fans. The original's grungy guitar riff, a frequently interpolated staple of The Prodigy’s sound, is transformed by Kasablanca into a searing, acid-infused bassline, tailor-made for today’s techno enthusiasts. The late Keith Flint’s timeless vocals still echo with their original ferocity, now interwoven with Kasablanca’s characteristically cinematic synth work. Released on Anjunabeats, where the duo has become a fixture with their synthwave-infused sounds, "Breathe" follows a string of successful singles like "Terminal Feeling." Kasablanca’s cover stays true to the incendiary spirit of the original, amplifying its danceability while paying homage to its roots. The release is the fourth single from their eagerly anticipated debut album, Higher Resolution, which is set to drop in two parts. The first is arriving on October 4th. 2. Kaskade stuns in his new single, "Tears Don’t Fall," a collaboration with Enisa where the warm glow of nostalgia meets the thrill of the present. Characterized by shimmering, melodically dense layers, the "Disarm You" hitmaker's latest production grounds ethereal melodies with a festival-ready groove that’s impossible to resist. Early on, Kaskade knew he had another hit on his hands, he said in a clip shared on his Instagram. View the original article to see embedded media. Fluttering, tremolo-style vocal chops spiral skyward, lifting the track to a place where time seems to pause and all that exists is the pure, exhilarating release of emotion. Underpinning those emotions is a powerful vocal performance from Enisa, who carries the tune with a sustained energy that’s both powerful and fragile. She sings with a strength that feels unbreakable, yet her delivery of the hook, "Tears don't fall for anyone," reveals a vulnerability that lingers in the air like a half-forgotten dream. Together, their fusion of artistic visions results in a song that’s as emotionally charged as it is technically sound. 3. Subtronics and Seven Lions craft a haunting dubstep odyssey in their new single, "I'll Wait For You," a must-listen collaboration with Skylar Grey. Subtronics debuted the track's instrumental in Las Vegas back on January 13th, 2023, the first date of his "ANTIFRACTAL" tour. Prior to today's release on Seven Lions' Ophelia Records, it quickly became one of the most coveted songs in both artists' arsenals of unreleased music. Part lullaby, part personal apocalypse, "I'll Wait For You" finds Grey weaving a patchwork of human fragility. A powerful exploration of identity and absence, the renowned singer-songwriter's lyricism paints a vivid picture of someone adrift, navigating the raging waters of a mind drowning in disillusionment. But beneath the layers of alienation and confusion, a stubborn flame of hope flickers. The refrain "I'll wait for you to come back" echoes through the track before Subtronics and Seven Lions go haywire with its buccaneering dubstep drop. Here, they beautifully mirror the agitation of Grey's vocals through anthemic, quaking production that should shake teeth fillings loose at festivals for years to come. 4. With his debut single, "Do You Hear Me Now," Ward Andrews proves that whispers can be louder than shouts on the dancefloor. Emerging from the underground, the track pulses with an insistent energy that's tough to ignore. With a breathy, hushed vocal that burrows itself into your memory, the new progressive house track weaves a latticework of sound that's both fresh and evocative. The titular phrase of "Do You Hear Me Now" isn't just a lyric—it's a mantra, repeating with a gossamer touch that belies its impact. As the track's spellbinding synths build and swirl, its feather-light vocals become a rhythmic anchor, tickling the senses like a phantom itch you can't scratch. There's a haunting quality to Andrews' production, like hearing music drift from a neighbor's party on a warm summer night. It invites you closer, promising connection in a world of noise while mirroring the gradual realization that someone is truly being heard. "'Do you hear me now' could also be stated as 'do you feel this energy we are creating now,'" Andrews explains. "Experiencing dance music takes the artist and the audience sharing the experience together and then sharing it with others. This track is about inviting people to experience this music together." 5. The European summer of 2024 has been a vibrant celebration of electronic music, with women dominating the dance floors and solidifying their place in the scene. As always, Ibiza stands as the epicenter of this excitement, and this year is no exception. The White Isle, known for its pulsating energy and iconic parties, has become the stage for some of the most promising and influential female DJs of the moment. Carly Wilford is a name that deserves special recognition. The British DJ and producer has been making waves with her sets that blend house, techno, and bass music, creating a rich and immersive sonic experience. Beyond her technical skills, Carly is an active advocate for diversity in electronic music, using her platform to promote inclusion and support emerging artists. In Ibiza, her performances have been marked by an authentic connection with the audience, delivering sets that capture the vibrant and eclectic essence of the island. Carly’s ability to combine intense grooves with a unique sensitivity has secured her a place as one of the most promising DJs of 2024. Another rising star is Mariah, formerly known as DJ Access Code. Mariah has made her mark in Ibiza with a style that blends deep house and tech-house, crafting sets that are both captivating and hypnotic. Known for her performances at iconic venues such as Ibiza Rocks and Ministry of Sound, Mariah has become a recognized name in the electronic music scene. Recently, EDMHouseNetwork had the opportunity to speak with Mariah, who, in addition to being a DJ, has been an influential voice in the electronic scene, particularly since her active participation on Clubhouse during the pandemic. On this platform, she built a community of over 500,000 followers, sharing musical knowledge and discussing the role of women in electronic music alongside figures like Paris Hilton, FINNEAS, and Marshmello. In her interview with EDMHouseNetwork, Mariah was asked about her views on the rise of women in electronic music and which DJs we should be paying attention to in the coming months. Mariah highlighted several promising names, including: Bruna Strait: A Brazilian DJ who performed at Rock in Rio, one of the world’s biggest festivals. Mariah praised her technical skill and the energy she brings to the stage. Naya: Another Brazilian talent, Naya recently made a name for herself in Ibiza with powerful sets filled with iconic vocals. Mariah shared the stage with her at Ministry of Sound and noted that Naya is “one of the most talented DJs” she has encountered, even stating that Naya is the first DJ who “mixes better” than she does. Juliet Thurbz: Resident DJ at Ibiza Rocks, Juliet surprised Mariah with her set, which she described as full of magic and energy, standing out in the local scene with her vibrant approach. Mariah also mentioned three DJs from her own crew in Ibiza who are poised to rise even further: Lucy Jane: A well-known name in Ibiza, whom Mariah believes will ascend even higher in 2025. Zara Carr: A resident DJ at Itaca Ibiza, Zara impresses with live performances that are intense and engaging. Brooke Coldwell: A new rising star who has already performed at Ministry of Sound and is attracting attention with her impactful sets. Mariah added that she could name many more DJs who are making a difference, but for now, these are her main picks for the future of the scene. In addition to these rising talents, it’s impossible to overlook established powerhouses like Deborah De Luca and Peggy Gou. Deborah De Luca continues to be a force of nature on the global stage, blending hard-hitting techno with melodic elements that captivate audiences worldwide. Her performances in Ibiza this summer have been nothing short of electrifying, solidifying her status as one of the most sought-after DJs in the industry. Meanwhile, Peggy Gou, known for her distinctive sound that blends house, techno, and disco, has also been a standout figure this season. Her ability to seamlessly transition between genres while maintaining an infectious groove has made her sets some of the most anticipated events of the summer. Peggy’s influence extends beyond the DJ booth, as she continues to inspire and empower a new generation of female DJs around the world. Beyond Carly Wilford, Mariah, Deborah De Luca, and Peggy Gou, the rise of female DJs in the Ibiza scene extends to other up-and-coming talents. Charlotte Plank, for instance, is steadily gaining recognition by combining organic sounds with electronic beats, creating a unique experience. Jazzy also stands out with her all-female party at Ibiza Rocks, blending pop and electronic music in a way that promises to be the anthem of the summer. Among the rising duos, Jenn Getz & Alfie have been a breath of fresh air. With an impressive musical chemistry, they bring a contagious energy to the dance floors, blending house, techno, and grooves that keep the crowd engaged from start to finish. Their performances capture the essence of Ibiza—a fusion of celebration and introspection—and have been praised by both the audience and critics. What truly stands out this summer is the emergence of lesser-known, yet equally talented, female DJs who are bringing new life to the scene. These fresh talents are essential in keeping the island’s energy alive and constantly evolving, offering new perspectives and sounds that are shaping the future of electronic music. These DJs, among others, are breaking barriers and redefining the electronic scene in Ibiza, showing that the future of electronic music is undoubtedly female and diverse. While the big stars continue to captivate, it is the emergence of these new talents that truly makes 2024 a special season on the White Isle. Photo credits: Rukes

  8. The hype around Telos, Zedd's first album in nearly a decade, is bubbling over after he revealed "Automatic Yes," an unexpected collaboration with John Mayer. As Zedd breaks his album drought, the track stands as a testament to his unflinching willingness to explore new musical territories. In "Automatic Yes," he and Mayer craft a infectious blend of dance-pop and electro-soul. Oozing with bluesy introspection, the collaboration bridges the gap between packed clubs and lonely bedrooms as Mayer croons, "I don't have to tell you that I love you still." Check out a preview of "Automatic Yes" below. Track 9 - “Automatic Yes” with @JohnMayer pic.twitter.com/iPXQ2BVOFK — Zedd (@Zedd) August 22, 2024 The iconic musician is part of a compelling list of Telos features, which includes Zedd's "Middle" collaborators Grey and Irish folk group the olllam. The late great alt-rock singer and guitarist Jeff Buckley is also a credited feature, appearing on the track "Dream Brother," which samples his 1994 song of the same name. It all points to a tour de force for the influential DJ and producer, who recently opened up about the album and its deeply personal bedrock. "It’s the most I’ve been involved in absolutely every element of an album," he told Las Vegas Magazine. "Musically it’s very me, and I didn’t make any compromises... It was everything I wanted to do. Everything my soul really craved. The commercial success of the album was never really a thought when I was making this album." "This is an album that is a concept album from front to back," he continued. "It's meant to be listened to in one piece. Most songs are connected except for somewhere I wanted there to be a break. It’s really a journey that I wanted to take people on. I wanted people to feel the way that I used to feel when I listened to music as a kid, [how it] just deeply inspired and changed me and educated me. I would love for the younger generation to get that same feeling that I used to get back in the day." Telos is scheduled to release on August 30th and fans can pre-save the album here. 17. 2013 was a huge year for Steve Aoki as he would release a massive hit with Linkin Park, collaborate with R3hab, and release one of his greatest songs ever, ‘Boneless.’ Named after a skateboarding trick and simply aimed to be a fun club song, this song would go well beyond the expectations of the artists behind it and became one of biggest electronic tracks of the year. Aoki collaborated with Chris Lake and Tujamo who were both building a name for themselves in the early 2010s and ‘Boneless’ helped massively in giving them their breakthrough. Even before it was released, people were loving the track as it had been leaked early on in 2013. Aoki recalls that when he started playing the song live people were already singing along with the melody because they had been listening to the leaked song for months already. Once ‘Boneless’ was officially released the hype was realised as it quickly became a huge club banger that everybody knew and would hit the charts in Germany, Austria, and Belgium. A year after its release the track would receive vocals from Kid Ink to create ‘Delirious (Boneless)’ which sparked even more success for the song. The melody is one that is unforgettable with people still chanting along to it 11 years on from its release and crowds still bouncing every time they hear it. A song like ‘Boneless’ perfectly encapsulates the beauty of EDM as it’s able to unite people from all over the world in singing along with the universal language of an awesome melody.

  20. We caught up with the legend himself during one of his more recent shows in South America. Paul van Dyk needs no introduction. Widely considered one of the pioneers of Electronic Dance music, it’s been 30 years since he released ‘For An Angel’, a record that would change Dance music forever and would set the bar for the tone of Trance tunes for years. A legendary figure, we were lucky enough to have a night under the spell of his hypnotising live sets, as he brought his groundbreaking VENTURE X show to Santiago, Chile. VENTURE X A fairly new “venture” of his, VENTURE X debuted last year, and it represents total freedom for the German pioneer. It is a concept literally marketed as simply playing what Paul thinks sounds best, and with a distinct flavour of Progressive, Trance and Techno. This way, he promises to bring attendees to a voyage with a clear departure harbour, yet an unknown destination. With the vibes already through the roof, fans eagerly awaited the master’s arrival at the booth, and when he finally did at 1:30, he made sure to do so in style. Teasing iconic melodies every now and then and carefully weaving them with Peak-Time Techno beats from fellow teammates — and himself —, Paul’s two-hour-thirty set was, quite literally, a venture, and we were a part of it. As the main act, van Dyk delivered a performance that exceeded expectations. The crowd was captivated by his seamless blend of classic tracks and new releases. Highlights included his timeless ‘For An Angel‘, his remix of the iconic ‘Café Del Mar‘, and his latest single, ‘Love Is Enough‘. To my delightful surprise, although we were at a VENTURE X show, he spun the SHINE Mix, a heavily Trance-focused record which I suspected would make me tear up when I reviewed it some weeks ago. And indeed did I shed a tear at the club. Of course that moment in which he faded in ‘Love Is Enough’ is a core memory I cherish from the night, but another really wonderful moment I got to witness was: there was a lady upfront with a message printed on paper, it went along the lines of “I’m Paola, thank you and thank God for your music, you’d make my night if you played Café Del Mar’“. I’m not kidding, she held that sign up for an entire hour and thirty before Paul actually played the track. And the four minutes that succeeded live in my head rent-free. Just HOW HAPPY she was, she screamed and jumped all throughout the record, she thanked him, and she cried a bit too. That’s the power of music for you all. I recorded a wee bit of it, and enjoyed the rest. So if you want to witness a bit… Beyond his incredible music, van Dyk’s down-to-earth personality shone through. He took the time to interact with fans, posing for pictures and smiling throughout his two-and-a-half-hour set. His genuine enthusiasm and appreciation for his audience created a truly unforgettable experience. He’s grateful for them too, as you’ll read in our interview with him, coming soon. (Oops, did I spoil something?) Well yes, we did sit down with Paul van Dyk himself and chatted about a handful of things. So I guess, now that I’ve mentioned it, a final core memory I’ll carry with me forever is having got to meet him. He, who introduced me to Trance back when I was playing Need For Speed Underground 2 as a six-year-old and his ‘Nothing But You’ was a part of the soundtrack, was right there, in front of me, and not anywhere else in the world. We did talk about a bunch of stuff. That’s coming soon folks. Overall, Paul van Dyk’s VENTURE X concert in Santiago was a night to remember. His masterful performance, coupled with his approachable demeanour, made for a truly special event. And I believe, at least for me, what went down that night can be summarised with: The post [Event Review] Paul van Dyk Fuses The Best Of Trance With The Power Of Techno Through VENTURE X appeared first on EDMTunes.
