Solomun Infuses Vintage Culture’s ‘Strange Feelings’ With Mesmerizing Remix
Vintage Culture, the Brazilian DJ and producer known for his Deep House vibes, captured the Dance music scene once again with his latest ‘Strange Feelings‘. But just when fans thought the track couldn’t get any better, House legend Solomun stepped in with a remix that took the original to new heights. Solomun’s remix of ‘Strange Feelings’ blends his signature melodic touch with the soulful undertones of the original artist, creating a fresh yet familiar sound that’s sure to dominate dancefloors worldwide. A Masterful Fusion of Styles Solomun’s remix brings together the best elements of his and Vintage Culture’s styles, offering a unique listening experience. While the original track carries a deep, emotional vibe, Solomun injects his signature Melodic House flair, layering hypnotic synths and a pulsating bassline that add a new dimension to the track. The result is a remix that feels both introspective and expansive, perfect for those late-night sets where the energy is just right, and the crowd is lost in the groove. A Throwback To David Guetta and Avicii’s ‘Sunshine’: The Underrated EDM Anthem
For his fifth album ‘Nothing But The Beat,’ David Guetta has collaborated with some big names in the music industry such as Snoop Dogg, Afrojack and Sia, but ‘Sunshine‘ features a back then rising Swedish legend, Avicii. For the first time together in the studio, the two DJs have produced an impressive track, but which remained one of the less listened records included on Guetta’s album. Although the single has hit 61 million streams now, it is still a pretty small record considering many of the songs on the album have over at least 100 million streams. Avicii released his first hit ‘Levels‘ in October 2011, 2 months after ‘Sunshine‘ with David Guetta dropped. It became probably the most known EDM song and the biggest emblem of dance music. After their first collaboration together, Guetta and Bergling have met in the studio a few other times, the most specific one being for the production of ‘Lovers On The Sun,’ a track released under David Guetta’s name but co-produced with Avicii. ‘Sunshine‘ was premiered by Avicii at Tomorrowland 2011 and during his 2012 Tomorrowland set the Swedish DJ played a legendary mashup between his song with David Guetta and ‘Spectrum‘ by Florence + The Machine. In 2019, 1 year later after the shocking passing of Tim Bergling, David played ‘Sunshine‘ for the last time at Avicii’s Tribute Concert. The event took place in Stockholm and besides David Guetta, it featured other DJ performances from names like Kygo, Nicky Romero, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Laidback Luke as well as Live Performances by artists like Rita Ora, Aloe Blacc, Adam Lamber and many more. OCULA Teams up with ATTLAS for ‘Against The Current’
OCULA returns to the famous This Never Happened label with a brand new single. As a matter of fact, the British DJ and producer Brad Littler – aka OCULA – has released ‘Against The Current‘, a collaboration with ATTLAS. OCULA said that ATLLAS – real name Jeff Hartford – has always been a huge inspiration to him as an artist, stemming from his early mau5trap days all the way up to now. Jeff sent a goldmine-like playlist over to him full of incredible demos, but this one stood out, OCULA said. He instantly felt a connection to what he’d already got, and knew exactly which direction he’d want to take it. “I love the energy and feel-good factor that this song has.” Canadian producer ATTLAS came to prominence in November 2014 with the heavily sought after deadmau5 ‘Aural Psynapse’ remix. It caused a tidal wave of speculation that ATTLAS was in fact a side project of the mau5 himself. That speculation ended when he was officially ‘outed’ by Pete Tong , announcing ATTLAS is Jeff Hartford, Canadian producer, dj and classically trained musician. An incredible depth of influences from travelling, alongside music, film and art worlds have had a decided effect on his musical outpourings, which were all jazz, classical and guitars until trips to Amsterdam, Berlin and attending the homecoming ‘Meowington Hax’ 2k11 tour. You can listen to OCULA and ATTLAS’ new collaboration ‘Against The Current’ below and on all available streaming platforms. Stay tuned for more news! Outkast Takes Aim at ATLiens in Trademark Lawsuit
A legal battle has erupted between Atlanta hip-hop pioneers Outkast and the EDM duo ATLiens. Outkast has filed a lawsuit claiming that ATLiens’ use of the name “ATLiens” infringes on their trademark. Attorneys for Outkast argue that ATLiens’ use of the name “ATLiens” infringes on Outkast’s trademark. They claim ATLiens has “caused actual confusion” among music fans, stemming from ATLiens sharing their name with a 1996 Outkast album that sold over 2 million copies. “The album’s title is a portmanteau of ‘ATL’ — an abbreviation for Atlanta, Georgia — and the word ‘aliens,'” the lawsuit reads. “The word ATLiens was invented by Outkast. Before Outkast created it, it was not used in the cultural lexicon and did not exist. The term ATLiens is inextricably associated with Outkast.” The lawsuit claims people mistakenly believe the DJ duo ATLiens is somehow connected with Outkast. Lawyers point to ATLiens advertisements they say mimics Outkast’s brand as well as “communications from third-parties querying whether Outkast was affiliated with Defendant’s upcoming show.” The lawsuit says Outkast attempted to find an “amicable resolution to the dispute.” Management for ATLiens did not respond to EDMTunes‘ request for comment. The Outkast ATLiens trademark lawsuit asks that ATLiens be banned from using ‘ATLiens’ and pay unspecified monetary damages. AirPods Pro 3 Will Be Coming Out Sooner Than You Think
It’s been more than a year since the AirPods Pro 2 launched, which means the much-loved in-ear headphones are in need of an update. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg hinted that the popular headphones would be released in 2025. However, a recent tweet from reliable Apple leaker Kosutami revealed that we’d be getting the AirPods Pro 3 much sooner than expected. Both Gurman and Kosutami have been extremely reliable in their predictions so it’ll be interesting to see who’s right this time. The tweet says that the AirPods Pro 3 will come with upgraded digital ANC performance, leading to improvements in noise cancellation. Along with the “much better” ANC capabilities, users can expect a similar price point as the AirPods Pro 2, which stands at $249. Kosutami also said that the 4th generation of the AirPods will be “announced soon”. They’ll come in two variants: the AirPods 4 and AirPods Lite, according to Bloomberg. Apple is set to announce this along with a whole host of other products during its special event on September 9th at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park in Cupertino, CA. The iPhone 16 including its Plus, Pro, and Max variants will be unveiled at the event. The Pro and Max versions will keep the three-camera layout but the screens could be larger. The event’s tagline is “It’s Glowtime” which hints at the codename of macOS Sequoia. All signs point to the new macOS being released alongside, or around the same time, as iOS 18, which will get its release date announced at the event, according to Gurman on Twitter/X. Nate Mars Presents Acid-Infused New LP, Dark Room Ghost
Here’s the latest collection you didn’t know you needed. And yes, it involves tons of 303s. We’ve got an exciting new release out today, coming to you from none other than Nate Mars. He’s carved out a distinctive niche in the music scene, making use of Acid-infused productions and a shadowy Pop edge that draws listeners in like a magnet. His sound explores two classic ideas with an innovative approach, and that’s what’s led him to quite the successful season. Influenced by the likes of The Knife, Jamie xx, Aphex Twin, and The Prodigy, Mars likes to break the mould. Recent collaborations and a roster of artists who remixed his In Time EP have underscored his growing impact, which has even made it to the eyes (and ears) of giant BBC Radio 1. Mars’ live performances only add to his uniqueness and all-rounder mind, with the iconic TB-303 beats blending seamlessly with analogue hardware and looped vocals. His shows include appearances at SXSW and Miami Music Week. And today, he’s back to present a huge project from his very studio. Dark Room Ghost Nate Mars’ latest, Dark Room Ghost, is quite the album. It offers a deep reflection of his connection to Underground music culture, by enhancing those Acid elements he’s known for. The LP looks to pay homage to the raw nature of the 90s and early 2000s raves. It captures the intense energy of these moments, creating a blend of nostalgic sounds and cutting-edge techniques. For Mars, clubs present a paradox. They are vibrant spaces with unparalleled amounts of joy, and are often associated with freedom and community. But at the same time, he also sees moments of loneliness. The anonymity of the crowd and the intensity of the music can sometimes enhance feelings of isolation and introspection. Dark Room Ghost explores this complex emotional terrain, offering both a deep dive into the good and the bad, the vocal and the unspoken, the light and the dark, perhaps. Through evocative TB-303 sounds, Mars captures a wide spectrum of emotions associated with these spaces — from euphoric highs to solitary lows. Bass Canyon 2024: Excision and Friends Rescue the Weekend From Lightning and Wind Storms
It looked shaky at one point, but Bass Canyon pulled off a leviathan feat. Excision’s annual takeover of the Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington overcame lightning and window storms, mid-show cancellations and the threat of a spoiled weekend to deliver everything it promised. The emotional—and borderline literal—whirlwind started during Saturday’s Kill The Noise set. The 21-year veteran was forced to abruptly end his set and informed fans of an impending lightning storm. “Bass Canyon, I’m sorry but there’s lightning in the area,” Kill the Noise told fans. “You know how that s–t goes.” An alert subsequently broadcast on the Canyon Stage screen directing concertgoers back to their vehicles for shelter. There was a collective hesitancy from fans who saw dark clouds nearby but no lightning. Then it rained. Fans took shelter as cold, wet globs poured overhead. Campers filed out of the venue and returned to their campsites awaiting further details. An update was sent not long after informing attendees the show was on. Fans started their second round trip from the campsites to the amphitheater with various degrees of enthusiasm. Roaring thunder and crackling lightning bolts sparked skepticism but it seemed the storms were moving away from the venue. Day two picked up with its regularly scheduled programming. Kompany and Dion Timmer’s lightning-infused b2b was a once-in-a-lifetime encounter. Head-banging as lightning streaked through the sky was a surreal and unforgettable experience. Kompany and Timmer completed their set without incident and it seemed the Bass Gods were pleased. Then Eptic arrived. The "Tactix" producer drew fans in with an elaborate introduction and long countdown. At the climax of the intro, Eptic commanded the audience to, “Open up the f—ing pit!” “Do not open it up,” a second voice demanded. Lighting was no longer a concern but a wind storm now blowing through the venue was. A set-piece on the mainstage broke off and swung around, raising concerns about other structures in the venue and prompting staff to direct people back to their vehicles. Dejected fans walked back to their campsites to assess the damages caused by the wind, and were soon met with the responsible but disheartening news that day two was cancelled. Mother Nature dealt a crushing blow to fans on Saturday. At the height of disappointment, fortifying campsites and concerns for full-blown event cancellation, optimistic chatter spread through the campsites. Habstrakt, who was scheduled to perform a b2b with JOYRYDE after Eptic’s set, was headed to the camp stage for a makeup performance. It was the weekend’s first reminder of why Excision’s commitment to the fan experience makes him a highly-regarded event curator. Habstrakt, accompanied briefly by JOYRYDE cameo, and Viperactive rescued the evening camp stage performances after their scheduled sets were scrapped. Turk Photos Excision’s team and the performing artists deserve repeat standing ovations. It would have been disappointing but forgivable if concessions were made after day two’s partial cancellation. That did not happen. The artists went above and beyond to deliver the weekend promised to fans. Every mainstage act whose set was canceled on Saturday stayed put to perform on Sunday. A collective sigh of relief rang through the Gorge's campground at a windy Sunday noon when a notification alert hit the Bass Canyon app. The elements were calming and the show would proceed with welcomed amendments, and the festival's gates opened early to accommodate the revamped Sunday lineup. The final product was an insanely stacked finale. The mainstage featured Zingara, Ray Volpe, Excision’s "Detox" set, Eptic, Kai Wachi, Wooli, LSZEE, Zeds Dead and Excision’s throwback set in succession. Saturday could have been a disaster. But thanks to the lengths taken to remedy day three, weekend campers can look back on nature’s intrusion as a temporary setback that brought people together. On that note, it’d be a disservice not to applaud the festival’s attendees. Campers rushed to help secure others’ campsites, share laughs amid the misery and boost morale with renegade sets. A special shoutout to our neighbors, who kindly invited us to watch Back to the Future on their campsite projector wall. Excision’s industry-leading visuals truly went Hollywood this weekend. Friday’s headliner opened with a brand new Transformers-themed intro, followed by the news that Excision had collaborated on a project with the new Transformers One film premiering on September 20th. His industry-leading lasers and graphics are old news by now, but a dramatic increase in pyrotechnics made Bass Canyon feel like a grand spectacle. Levity’s rapid rise was another day one highlight. EDM.com Class of 2024 trio maximized their marquee spot at the Hilltop Stage, delivering a fresh and unapologetically fun performance. ATLiens and Ganja White Night were among Friday’s great showcases. The second-ever performance of CloZee and LSDREAM’s joint project was the weekend’s standout set. LSZEE was refreshingly unique, delivering a psychedelic-world bass fusion that never felt out of place. The duo is must-watch viewing and should be a priority on any personally curated festival schedule. Divisuals Wooli and Zeds Dead were two other highlights from Sunday. Wooli’s confidence and growth over the last two years are noticeable. His visuals stand by itself —no small feat when appearing on an Excision lineup—and his crowd control is top-notch. The dubstep star blew fans away by dropping an unreleased GriZ collaboration, but not before tempting fate with a dramatic voiceover hilariously condemning the elements. “F–k wind. And definitely, f–k lightning!” the cinematic narrator proclaimed during Wooli’s intro. Meanwhile, Zeds Dead’s set was a wild rollercoaster. It was at times exciting, emotional, unhinged and with their "Pure Imagination" finale, downright beautiful. And speaking of unhinged, a special shoutout to YOOKiE for their ridiculous, meme-worthy set on Sunday. Team Excision continues to raise the bar each year. It’s no surprise they’ve curated one of the most welcoming fan cultures in electronic dance music. They lead by example. The Bass Canyon artists, fans and staff came together to overcome a potentially catastrophic weekend and deliver a show that exceeded expectations. ‘Motions’ is What So Not new EP
What So Not won’t slow down. He just finished his Dance Dance Revival tour as well as successfully rallying Bunnings to host an epic warehouse party. After all of that, he’s ready to release Motions, his latest EP. Featuring four exclusive new tunes, What So Not describes it as: “a love letter to dance music”. The EP is an emotive collection of electronic compositions including the top 40 Shazam hit ‘Lights Go Out’ with Benson and Lucy Lucy, and new single ‘Realise’ with Habstrakt featuring Maiah Manser. Collaborators from France, the Netherlands, the US, and Australia, helped What So Not (aka Chris Emerson) to write the EP. He describes the four tracks on Motions as grown from the same garden, just blooming in different seasons. What is the sound of this feeling? This texture? How do you reflect audibly what it’s like to walk barefoot in the grass on a foggy autumn morning? Where do I draw creation from and what are these visions representative of in my psyche? This has been my exploration through this EP.” One of two new tracks on the EP, ‘Realise’ sees What So Not team up with French producer Habstrakt and LA-based, noir-pop songstress Maiah Manser. I first came across Maiah Manser when I saw her doing operatic experimentations for film scores. Her range and depth were breathtaking in these ethereal deliveries. As soon as I heard her voice I knew I had to work with her! ‘Tower In The Woods’ sees What So Not collaborate once again with MNDR. He also features on the recently released single ‘Slow Motion’ and first gained recognition after being featured on Mark Ronson & The Business Intl’s 2010 single ‘Bang Bang Bang’. MNDR is one of the most genuinely cool people I’ve come across in the industry. I can’t remember who set up the session, but she just came round to the house one day and we hit it off, writing the vocals for both songs in one session. Amanda described our conversations leading into the writing as like being on a DMT trip, as we played with philosophy, settings and psyche. Accompanying each track on the EP is a cinematic visualizer, created by Emerson himself. I have a place I go to in my mind for each song I make. A unique destination that fills the senses and enables me to return to the same stream of consciousness in order to complete the work. I would often try to commission works to be reflective of these settings to pair with the audio, but with so many tech advancements allowing new possibilities, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying diving head first into this new medium of expression myself. Before his return to Australia, What So Not will be hitting the famed Burning Man festival in Black Rock Desert, Nevada. Until then, dive into What So Not’s Motions EP. In the words of What So Not, “A trajectory of love – passion, longing, deciphering, acceptance, trust, separation and ever after.” The post ‘Motions’ is What So Not new EP appeared first on The Groove Cartel.

LP Giobbi Shares Hilarious Voicemail Message From Heated Swiftie
Swifties stay swifting. It seems like no genre of music is immune to Taylor Swift's cult-like following, with requests coming left and right to turn any set into a Swiftie rave. No one knows that more than dance music star LP Giobbi, who in October 2023 was commissioned to produce and release an official remix of "Cruel Summer," turning the angsty synth-pop track into a bubbly house remix. Not only did the remix propel Giobbi's name to the mainstream orbit of Swift's global pop audience, but it also added another layer of depth to the beloved producer's craft, much like her popular remixes of The Grateful Dead and Goose. While the track has since become a semi-regular play in the Femme House founder's DJ sets, it can't, of course, appear in every single one. That apparently wasn't so obvious for one Swiftie at Budapest's Sziget Festival, who took it upon herself to send what Giobbi consequently called her "best DM ever," a fiery rebuke of the DJ for excluding her "Cruel Summer" remix. Quick to the point, the fan claims it was "really f***ing disappointing" before concluding the voice message with a waggish, "Anyway, love you!" Chaney and Sharlene Hector team up for ‘Back On My Love’
A gifted house sensation with a knack for timeless, transcendent grooves, UK powerhouse Chaney returns to Insomniac Records. He has another top-notch vocal offering that’s crafted with his trademark generation-defying polish. This time, he’s recruiting the living legend and esteemed songstress Sharlene Hector. Their elating disco house record is “Back On My Love.” A self-described purveyor of “nostalgia,” a magician who channels the very best of disco, deep house, and early-2000s house anthems, Chaney strives for a stronger sense of musicality with his vocal anthems, commonly situating himself alongside the industry’s most precious singer/songwriters. Releasing two such commanding vocal cuts with Insomniac Records last year—including “Out of My Depth” with Nu-La, and “Feeling For You” featuring Farley—this August, he returns to the imprint with another beaming house offering. “Back On My Love” sees Chaney collaborating with house royalty, Sharlene Hector. She’s renowned for her work as a lead vocalist for the mighty Basement Jaxx. A particularly driving affair powered by its energizing Italo bassline, it prances alongside Sharlene’s diva-fueled delivery. With its warm, warbling analog lines and classic house motifs, the track channels those glorious early-aughts dance vibes to full effect. In Chaney words: Chaney confirms his latest single has been reaping tremendous results since the ID was first pieced together last year. I’m super excited to finally release my collaboration with Sharlene Hector, ‘Back On My Love.’ It’s a massive disco and house weapon that came about after receiving a topline idea from Sharlene. After playing the record out for the first time in London, followed by my set at Nocturnal Wonderland in San Bernardino last summer, I knew straight-away that it was destined for the dancefloor. It really was giving my sets that sense of fun and party-time. Chaney says it was the back-and-forth collaborative process with Sharlene that encouraged him to step up his game, overhauling his original ideas for the track to gear itself more towards a disco-inspired vibe. As soon as I heard her vocals, I felt like the initial instrumental that I’d sent to Sharlene were nowhere near as sassy and diva-ish enough that would truly compliment her delivery. So, I stripped everything back to a big disco drum groove, and a new bassline that inspired a whole new record, compiling lots of ‘70s/‘80s Italo synths like OBX and the Juno 106. “Back On My Love” is a timeless number that shines a light on the much-welcomed disco house revival; perhaps even lending a look at its very best. Chaney & Sharlene Hector’s new single “Back On My Love” is available on all platforms via Insomniac Records. Konstantin Sibold, ZAC & CARMEE remix Rebūke’s “Along Came Polly”
A legendary show at Theatre Antique d’Orange last weekend while gearing up for a massive day-to-night closing party in Ibiza. Afterlife has raised the bar of techno music this summer. And they haven’t finished yet. You may remember Rebūke’s single Along Came Polly. Released back in 2018 on Hot Creations, the song was defined by the artist as a weirdly, wonderful slice of techno. Surely its organic sounds and experimental synths were something different from the sound of the time. Now, in 2024, 6 years after the original release, three incredible artists join the Along Came Polly train. Konstantin Sibold, ZAC & CARMEE injected their sound into the single, delivering new life to the tune assuring the remix a spot in Afterlife Records. Along Came Polly remix on Afterlife This new incarnation transposes the original riff onto a more potent instrumental, with the added intensity of an extended breakdown. The baseline has been completely revisited with a more mysterious and dark one. Of course, the iconic synth work has been kept the same, especially in the pre-drop. They have built on it, expanding the sound and laying it with fat sub-base and more hypnotic sound elements. The three have added depth and dark feeling to the original tune, perfectly matching the Afterlife vibes. Talking about Afterlife, before the big closing in Ibiza, expect some serious movement in Italy. Tale Of Us will return, with all the crew, to their home in Italy (Milan) for a massive show including Anyma presents GENESYS and MRAK presents We Don’t Follow. Anyma will also host a series of shows at The Sphere in Las Vegas, being the first electronic music artist to perform there. All six shows are sold out and are planned around New Year’s Eve. Afterlife will also return to Amsterdam, for the annual ADE, this time together with Tomorrowland. Konstantin Sibold, ZAC & CARMEE remix of Rebūke’s “Along Came Polly” is out now on Afterlife The post Konstantin Sibold, ZAC & CARMEE remix Rebūke’s “Along Came Polly” appeared first on The Groove Cartel.
