Kinobe release their fifth studio album
British chill band Kinobe released their fifth studio album, Out of The Blue, on August 9th via the SGKL imprint. This follows the release of their recent single, ‘Lucky Stars’ which received radio support from the likes of NPR Music, KCRW’s Metropolis, KEXP, FG Chic and SBS Chill. The album was conceived at Kinobe HQ, a beautiful beach house in Western Australia overlooking the Indian Ocean, and mastered by the legendary Frank Arkwright (Blur, New Order, Coldplay, Oasis and many more) at Abbey Road. Kinobe became the quintessential downtempo group with the 2000 release of their Engelbert Humperdinck-sampling single ‘Slip Into Something More Comfortable’, which became an essential on every beach bar playlist as well as being licensed for innumerable compilations, soundtracks, and TV commercials. Racking up over 50 million streams on Spotify alone, Kinobe has previously earned support from tastemaker publications CLASH Mag, Sputnik Music, and Hot Press, and has been featured in British broadsheet newspapers The Guardian and The Independent. Their music has aired on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 6 – The 6 Mix with Nemone. Notably, they have been featured numerous times in the CD collections and Youtube channel of the iconic Chill-music brand Café del Mar. Originally from the UK and currently based in Perth, Australia, Kinobe was formed in west London in 1998 by childhood friends Julius Waters and Mark “Blackie” Blackburn. They formed a duo together after Waters’ return from Perth, Australia, where he had spent the greater part of his teens. Both multi-instrumentalists with a plethora of retro influences including soul, funk, blues, jazz, and R&B, they quickly began making music together. Within a few months, and with a minimal setup of synth, computer, sampler, a record player found on the street and boxes of charity shop vinyl, they had recorded enough material for their debut album, and were quickly signed to Pepper Records, an imprint of Jive. That album, Soundphiles, was released in the year 2000 to instant acclaim. Drawing on a vast array of influences from string arrangers like Nelson Riddle, composers like John Barry and Lalo Shifrin, crooners like Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennet, to sixties bands like Canned Heat, Kinobe’s sound has drawn comparisons to the likes of lounge luminaries such as Air, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Groove Armada, and Thievery Corporation. Out of The Blue sees Kinobe bending and stretching their signature lounge chill to a delightful limit that is tinged with a psychedelic spirit. The focus track, ‘It’s Only A Dream’, begins with sweeping cinematic strings before kicking off with a groove so breezy that the listener could literally levitate into the clouds. Those whimsical strings, a sweet surfy guitar, slinking minimal synth bass and delicious ear candy take the listener on a surreal journey occasionally punctuated by smooth vocal lines, imparting snippets of psychedelic wisdom with the fine motif: “But remember cowboy, it’s only a dream.” The focus track captures the lush buoyancy of the entire album perfectly – listeners are in for a treat; an Alice In Wonderland-esque journey to the glorious warmth of the sixties and beyond. Kinobe shared: “I’ve always been fascinated by where ideas and inspiration come from. This album is an expression of how when you clear your mind it can open a door to somewhere else.” Stream/ download: Out Of The Blue Album Out Of The Blue Album Tracklist: 1. Gold Run 2. Swedish House Mafia And Alicia Keys Release New Single ‘Finally’
Iconic GRAMMY® nominated, multi-platinum electronic supergroup Swedish House Mafia and 16-time GRAMMY® Award-winning singer, songwriter, musician and producer Alicia Keys have teamed up to release a reimagined version of Kings of Tomorrow’s timeless classic ‘Finally’ – listen HERE. The remake first came together around 2 years ago and has since gathered worldwide interest as Swedish House Mafia have played it in their live sets. This release follows their single ‘Lioness‘ feat. Nikki & The Dove via Republic Records. ‘Lioness’ was released in June and had been highly requested by fans since the record’s live premiere in 2023. This summer, Swedish House Mafia played an array of international music festivals including Garorock Festival, Panama Open Air Festival, Lucca Summer Festival, Untold Festival, Findings Festival and the mainstage at Tomorrowland, which marked their return to the festival after 12 years. Last weekend, they wrapped their historic, 6-week Ushuaïa Ibiza Residency. The band also recently announced they will be performing at Will Ferrell’s “Ultimate DJ House Party” at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, IL on October 26th for a concert in support of “Cancer For College.” Swedish House Mafia posted the announcement on their social media with a video alongside Ferrel. See below for full routing of upcoming shows. Tickets and tour details are available HERE. ABOUT SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA In 2008, a trio of individual artists, DJs, and producers united to unassumingly break every rule in electronic music. Ensconced in flames, Swedish House Mafia—Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Axwell—infused house music with swaggering hip-hop beat-craft, rock ‘n’ roll attitude, and big screen-worthy grandeur brought to life on stage with one legendary live show after another. Ushering dance music culture out of the warehouses and clubs and into arenas and stadiums on an unrivaled scale, it would be nearly impossible to imagine how the genre might’ve shaken out without them. They became the first electronic act to headline (and sell out) Madison Square Garden in 2011 and the first to grace the main stage at Coachella in 2012. They garnered two consecutive GRAMMY® nominations in the category of “Best Dance Recording” for the platinum “Save the World” in 2012 and quintuple-platinum Hot 100 Top 10 hit “Don’t You Worry Child” in 2013. Rolling Stone described their meteoric rise as “redefining rave culture,” and NME christened them “the rockstars of the dance music world.” The marathon record-breaking One Last Tour paved the way for a five-year break before they returned as surprise headliners of Ultra Music Festival’s 20th anniversary in 2018. Following the Save The World Reunion Tour a year later, this holy trinity of electronic music gods focused on the one thing they hadn’t done yet, making their 2022 full-length debut album Paradise Again [Republic Records]. Their return was announced with the cover of Billboard and garnered immediate press and a late-night television performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon followed with a trending hit “A Moth To A Flame” featuring The Weeknd. Upon arrival, it bowed in the Top 10 of seven global charts, seizing #1 on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart and #1 on the UK Dance Albums Chart. Moreover, it attracted some of the highest critical praise of the group’s storied career thus far from Pitchfork, NME, and more. It only hints at more to come. Anyma plays a sunset set for Robot Heart at Burning Man 2024
Burning Man 2024 is coming to an end but without some special surprises. Anyma, aka Matteo Milleri, joined the iconic festival in the desert for a special sunrise set for Robot Heart. If you’re not familiar with Burning Man and Robot Heart, we’re going to give you a small lesson about both. Burning Man is a week-long large-scale desert event focused on “community, art, and self-expression. The event is held at Black Rock City in northwestern Nevada, a temporary city erected in the Black Rock Desert about 100 miles (160 km) north-northeast of Reno. Burning Man features no headliners or scheduled performers; instead, participants create all the art, activities, and events. One of them is Robot Heart, a mobile art bus riding with a 70,000-watt peak custom-owned rig. Just to give you a scale of the “stage” and the rig mounted, the vehicle carries 18 mid-high tops per side, highs being radian and mids and lows being JBL. It also features 10 double 21″ neodymium B & C subwoofer driver stacks. Each sub has a 2000-watt RMS/4000-watt Peak capacity. The music you can expect from the Robot Heart is tribal, deep, tech house, and techno. This year, they decided to not release the lineup in a normal way. Instead, they posted on Instagram the 10 principles of the event, one for each day. Rather releasing the lineup, they unveiled the beginning and closing times of the art bus with the names of the artists obfuscated, with only a few letters available, like the hangman game. If the artists were playing the sunset or sunrise slot, a small sun was put close to its name. Clearly, with such a “surprise” lineup, no one knew what to expect. Now, knowing that Anyma had played, you can clearly associate his name on the lineup. Anyma, of course, played a different set from what we usually hear during the Afterlife parties. It was slower, more tech, and more tribal. Perfect for the sunrise at Burning Man. Other artists that have played the Robot Heart are, for instance, A R Y M É and Francis Mercier who have played b2b with RUFUS DU SOL. Lucidity Festival Faces Backlash After Cancelling Event Without Refunds
Lucidity Festival, an electronic music festival held at Santa Barbara's Live Oak Campground since 2012, will cease operations and not issue refunds for its cancelled 2024 event, according to a statement released by organizers. Lucidity cited "unforeseen last-minute changes in requirements" imposed by Santa Barbara County that "made it impossible for us to proceed, leading to a postponement that we can not financially recover from." After postponing this year's Lucidity Festival from April to late-June, organizers pulled the plug due to safety concerns from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, who denied permits and cited increased risks during the city's High Fire Season. The festival's campground is situated beside the Santa Ynez River, which blocks one of the festival's evacuation routes and could hinder evacuation protocols in the event of a fire-related emergency, the department said at the time. Organizers ultimately announced a move to a new venue, Monterey County's Lake San Antonio North Shore, and revealed the festival's rescheduled dates of April 25-27, 2025. However, they've now ceased operations and face backlash for the decision not to issue refunds. "We understand the trust you placed in us when you purchased your tickets, and it deeply saddens us to inform you that we are unable to provide refunds," reads Lucidity's statement, shared to Facebook on August 30th. "We deeply regret that we cannot offer you the resolution you deserve, and we are truly sorry for the disappointment and frustration this causes." Hundreds of incensed ticket-holders are now airing grievances in the comment section of a Facebook post by the music festival watchdog Festive Owl. Many have mentioned the potential for a class action lawsuit. It's worth noting that the FAQ section of Lucidity's website includes a disclaimer for their no-refund policy: "If you are not able to join us for the event, we have empowered you with the ability to transfer your ticket to another person, as we do not offer refunds for tickets." In a last-ditch effort to rescue the festival, organizers left the door open for a return in 2025. However, save for a "miracle," its proprietors will soon initiate the dissolution process. "If there is anyone reading this who thinks to themselves, 'I know the solution' please contact [email protected] immediately, as there is still a miracle chance to save Lucidity before we officially initiate the process of going out of business," this week's statement reads. You can read Lucidity's full announcement below. Follow Lucidity Festival:Facebook: facebook.com/lucidityfestival Instagram: instagram.com/lucidityfestival X: x.com/lucidityfest

Was The New ‘Zenless’ Stage At Creamfields A Success?
Creamfields has always had an amazing array of stages that provide a diverse experience everywhere you go, but this year they looked to step up their game even more with the introduction of the ‘Zenless Zone Zero’ stage. When ‘Zenless’ was first announced it was already grabbing people’s attention with its incredible 30,000 capacity making it the largest indoor festival superstructure in the world. The early projections of what the stage was going to look like were impressive and the names set to play in there such as Martin Garrix, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike only heightened the excitement to see this new stage. But did it live up to expectations after all the hype? Without a doubt one of the biggest positives of the ‘Zenless’ stage was the insane lighting rig that was able to handle the crazy visuals you expect from the likes of Martin Garrix and surpassed expectations. From the powerful room filling lasers to the spinning beams of light coming from all over the place, there was no lack of entertainment from a visual standpoint with the lighting even improving upon what you could find at the ‘Arc’ stage in some respects. With it being an indoor stage, you wouldn’t expect anything crazy in terms of pyrotechnics but the flames being thrown from the stage and the pillars above the crowd were sensational and certainly gave you that mainstage feel. Every act that performed on the stage was able to put on incredible sets with a sound system that filled the structure and could be felt all the way at the back. Unfortunately for a lot of people they would only get to hear some of these sets from the very back or even outside. Despite its impressive 30,000 capacity when it came to the sets of Martin Garrix and Tiesto, the stage quickly filled up with a lot of the entrances having to be shut to avoid overcrowding. It was of course the right decision to do this to keep people safe, but a lot of people were left disappointed as they arrived at the stage to see their favourite artists and were instantly turned away as there simply wasn’t enough space. Though you could say that these acts simply should have been put on a bigger stage, this year posed some unusual problems with the likes of Hardwell and Timmy Trumpet struggling to pull big crowds at the ‘Arc’ stage. Even Alesso who closed the ‘Arc’ stage on the final day didn’t receive the type of crowd you would expect for a mainstage closing set. It’s when you look at what sets were clashing that you realise where some of the problems spawned from. As Tiesto was performing at 1am, he wasn’t clashing with many artists of the same calibre as him meaning that nearly everyone tried to get into ‘Zenless’ to see him. Martin Garrix was following on from Third Party on the ‘Zenless’ stage who had already drawn in a massive crowd and have a similar fanbase so very few people cleared out of the tent leaving it still packed out. The unpredictability of how many people are going to go to each set is something that is very hard to deal with and this year the struggle was quite apparent. When you look at the problems at the ‘Zenless’ stage a lot of it came down to organisation of the acts but that is certainly not an easy task to take on and even the best laid plans can go wrong. This is of course only the first year that the ‘Zenless’ stage has been used so there are lots of things that can be learnt from this to carry into next year. Despite these problems its fair to say that ‘Zenless’ is an amazing addition to the roster of fantastic stages at Creamfields and that the organisers put on yet another amazing festival that everyone enjoyed. Once you got right in the thick of it with the amazing lighting filling the room, fire pumping out right above you and beautiful music pouring into your ears it was undeniably a brilliant experience that everyone will be looking forward to having more of.

Calling All Fans: Alesso & Sebastian Ingrosso’s Instrumental Turns 13
As the sun shines on yet another anniversary of the iconic track’‘Calling (Instrumental)’ by Alesso and Sebastian Ingrossos, it is apparent that this is a track that has defined the electronic dance music scene. Released on August 31, 2011 ‘Calling (Instrumental)’ fundamentally changed the landscape, where even without poignant lyrics, the melodies and beats are enough to sway even the toughest of hearts. What also makes this song so iconic is the culmination of two greats in the electronic dance music world: Alesso and Sebastian Ingrosso, both Swedish nationals who have been in the game for a very long time. It’s almost as if this collaboration was destined to happen as Alesso was once helmed to be under the tutelage of Ingrosso. The result of this historic union is none other than the track ‘Calling (Instrumental)’ which has since gone on to become a symbol of EDM across festivals, clubs and even in people’s playlists. The true power of this fantastic partnership goes beyond the production of the song and its melodies, but rather, the memories it invokes and the place it holds in the hearts of fans across the globe. Many who have heard either Alesso or Sebastian Ingrosso include this in their sets will have fond memories of just being at a festival with their friends, and letting the beats of ‘Calling (Instrumental)’ drown out all their sorrows and worries of the world. I sure have some spectacular memories of this song, especially having spent most of my early 20’s playing ‘Calling (Instrumental)’ on repeat. Did you know? ‘Calling (Instrumental)’ holds a lot of significance for the electronic dance community, having been the foundation for influence for a lot of tracks and artists following its release. Some notable examples include Zedd, when he created ‘Spectrum’ which blends harmonies and melodies in a similar manner to ‘Calling (Instrumental)’. Another noteworthy example is Porter Robinson‘s ‘Language’ which has noticeable influences, especially about the euphoric feeling ‘Calling (Instrumental)’ invokes. These tracks and artists are amongst the plethora of many who owe part of their success to the path carved by the release of ‘Calling (Instrumental)’. Even now, 13 years since it’s release, ‘Calling (Instrumental)’ is still regarded to be that one song EDM fans all over love and hold dear. It also stands as a reminder of the early days of electronic dance music, when words and visuals were not needed to feel as though you’re one with the artist and the song. Alesso and Sebastian Ingrosso‘s track can be described to be more than just a song – it’s a moment, frozen in time, and a symbol of the desire to release one’s inhibitions and just live the magic that is EDM. So here’s to ‘Calling (Instrumental)’, a track that’s more than just music—it’s a timeless connection, a reminder of the feelings and moments that unite us all. As we celebrate its anniversary, let’s cherish the emotions it continues to evoke. Whether it’s your first listen or your thousandth, ‘Calling (Instrumental)’ is a testament to the extraordinary power of music.

EDMTunes New Music Friday – Week 35
Listen to the most flavour-packed tracks we discovered this week. Music makes the world go round. And in that regard, we’re constantly on the lookout for new, exciting tunes to share with our audience. We’ve found some that cause goosebumps, and make you open your eyes and get up from your chair to dance. So put on your best pair of headphones, or turn up your speakers, and enjoy this week’s New Music Friday. Here are our top picks for the best music we came across this week, in no particular order. And remember, if you would like to contact us for a chance to feature your track on our page, head over to this link right here. Craig Connelly & Nicholas Gunn feat. Alina Renae – Miss You Genre: Uplifting Trance Grab your tissues everyone, we’re kicking this week’s NMF on a super touching tune. Trance maestro Craig Connelly joins Blue Dot boss and all-round prodigy Nicholas Gunn to release what’s perhaps the most beautiful Trance tune we’ve heard in a while: ‘Miss You‘, alongside Alina Renae. Straight-up tear-inducing. There’s no other term I’d rather use to coin this release. It’s what you would expect from two artists of this calibre joining forces, but it’s honestly crafted in such a flawless manner I truly, truthfully can say, I got to crying businesses far earlier than I’d thought. As a fun bit of trivia, this is Connelly’s second release after getting married to the love of his life, Ally. Congratulations, you two! Crusy – Hey Girls, B-Boys Genre: Tech House, Techno Toolroom never disappoints. Mark Knight’s imprint has become a leader of the House and Tech House sounds for decades, often trailblazing and shaping the core elements of the funkier and groovier corners of Dance music for years to come. That’s why we’re excited to share the news: Spanish icon Crusy has just landed yet another signing on the label. And it’s quite the monstrous one. ‘Hey Girls, B-Boys‘, is a nod to the past, with a clever and refreshing touch. Machine-programmed, dry drums are all it took for Crusy to craft a banger, but he went one step further. He sampled the iconic ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl‘ voice, to make of his banger a very memorable one. Sing along to the lyrics wherever you are, and whenever you please. Here we go! Ferry Corsten & Silva City – Chaos Genre: Trance (Old-School) Under such a simple name, ‘Chaos‘, you wouldn’t imagine just how lovely this track is. And the thing is, along with ‘Just Breathe’, this one is arguably the most Trance-inducing record of Ferry Corsten‘s ongoing LP, Connect. Think Golden Age. This record is precisely that. Add to it this track is a collaboration with Silva City (the Old-school Trance alias of Alan Fitzpatrick and Reset Robot), and you have a future classic. The melody is so simple, and the nature of the track is stripped-back just like the old days. A few elements which all play such a key part in the picture, that’s the philosophy here. The main lead is an evolving saw pluck, backed by magical old-school percussion, snare rolls, delayed crashes, rolling basslines, and harmony companions. Are you a producer and you want your song featured on EDMTunes? Follow this link right here. Tiago Dima & Will Vance – Air And Darkness (Gobi Desert Collective Remix) Genre: Downtempo A few weeks ago, we featured the original debut collaboration between Will Vance and Tiago Dima, which is a lovely Melodic House record. This time, ‘Air and Darkness’ sees a lovely Downtempo adaptation from the hands of Gobi Desert Collective, an Antwerp-based DJ/Producer duo with a knack for impactful music. This remix tastes just like it said on the box: GDC really gave the track an Ethnic-sounding spin. The end result is thought-provoking, deep, and has your back on those busy days when you get to the end of your shift and want nothing but peace. This song delivers that very dose of tranquillity. Wax Motif, Truth X Lies, AK Renny – 212 Genre: Tech House Australian-born, LA-based DJ and producer Wax Motif is back with ‘212‘, a Tech House anthem released via Cr2 Records. Teaming up with NYC duo Truth x Lies and Bass DJ + rapper AK RENNY. Wax Motif delivers an infectious beat that masterfully blends House, Electro, and Hip-Hop elements. An ode to the undeniable energy of New York City’s iconic area code, ‘212’ captures the gritty yet vibrant pulse of the bustling metropolis in a way that only this powerhouse trio can. ‘212’ is a bold and boundary-pushing offering, propelled by minimalist, yet powerful production centered around a relentless bassline. AK RENNY’s sharp verses add a striking edge. Making this track an undeniable standout on any playlist or dancefloor. With its innovative approach and genre-blurring sound, ‘212’ demands attention and leaves a lasting impact. Final Words Stay tuned, for more of our compilations every Friday — based on demand. Ferry Corsten Joins Forces With Silva City To Release Beautiful ‘Chaos’ Trance Belter
Here’s a beautiful piece that reminds us of the older days of Trance. Oh, Ferry, you’ve done it again. In case you’re not aware, Ferry Corsten, the legend and pioneer of the modern Dance sound (both Trance and the subsequent genres), has been quite busy juggling studio and gigs around the world this past year. In particular, he’s been crafting his next studio album, Connect. Connect is an ongoing project. And differently from the usual album marketing campaign, in which an artist lifts two to four songs prior to the full LP, Ferry’s unveiling these songs as they come, one by one. We’ve heard that old-school sound peeking through Corsten’s latest piece of work, just like he mentioned in our interview with him a while ago. We’ve loved ‘Just Breathe’, we’ve loved ‘Stay Awake’, we’ve absolutely favourited ‘Fulfillment’, and we’re now delighted to receive his latest, a collaboration of sorts. ‘Chaos’ Under such a simple name, you wouldn’t imagine just how lovely this track is. And the thing is, along with ‘Just Breathe’, this one is arguably the most Trance-inducing record of them all. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I acknowledged this was a today thing and not a golden Gouryella era release. Thank you Ferry! Above & Beyond Announce Release Date For Long-Awaited ‘Heart of Stone’
It’s been a while, but we’re finally anticipating Richard Bedford’s next venture with the Trance trio. Heart. Of. Stone. For some of you, fellow readers, this might have been the most awaited ID Above & Beyond premiered two entire years ago at the ABGT500 milestone show. That night in Los Angeles would mark the last time the three guys would be spotted playing together, as they decided to call ABGT550 off in exchange for more time in the studio, and all gigs but ABGT are performed by two of the three, always. This year, they’re returning. But the ID won’t be an ID anymore. ‘Heart of Stone’ will be released next Thursday, September 5th, on Anjunabeats. The vocal track, which features the iconic male voice of Trance, Richard Bedford, is the next chapter of uncountable ventures of the four artists coming together. He’s the unmistakable voice behind countless Above & Beyond anthems such as ‘Sun & Moon’, ‘Thing Called Love’, and ‘Alone Tonight’. In fact, he’s the chosen voice whenever the boys have something to say in a masculine timbre. As Tony mentioned earlier this month in our exclusive interview with him: These are male songs written from a male perspective. And so when we found Richard Bedford, that was kind of, for me, one of the most important things that we did as Above & Beyond, because I think a lot of our fans are men. I don’t mind the women that come to see us [laughter], but I’m writing songs from a male perspective. (…) I don’t know, but there’s a difference in the kind of songs that I write and the kind of songs that Zoë writes. So I’m happy that a man is delivering them, because I think they need to have that male delivery. -Tony McGuinness Since its debut, ‘Heart of Stone’ has mesmerised audiences at EDC Las Vegas, Group Therapy Weekender at the Gorge Amphitheatre, and Printworks in London. And it will now grace Mexico City, as the band and the entire label heads over to the Hipódromo de las Américas on October 19th and 20th for ABGT600. So, it’s time to set your calendars for what’s going to be quite an eventful day. Pre-save Above & Beyond and Richard Bedford’s new journey, by clicking here. Atmospheric Beats Meet Complex Emotions In Low Mileage's "When You Need Somebody"
A rhythmic heartbeat propels Low Mileage's latest release, a buoyant indietronica track that invites us to dance away our worries in times of need. Out now via MrSuicideSheep's found/red label, "When You Need Somebody" teeters on the edge of contradiction—it's a song about emotional distance set to music that begs you to move closer. The result is a track that resonates in both body and mind, inviting listeners to lose themselves in its atmospheric embrace while pondering its deeper meanings. The song's uplifting house drop acts as a counterpoint to the more complex lyrics that follow in the break. "Didn't want to make it up to you / 'Cause nothing that I do ever hurts you," quavers a voice caught between frustration and care. It's a snapshot of a relationship where one person feels invisible—an apology that isn't, a strength that masquerades as weakness. The chorus, however, offers a lifeline: "I'm here when you need somebody." It's a simple statement that carries weight, especially in the track's stunning coda, where Low Mileage brings it all home by virtue of a drop sequence bursting with emotion and UK garage grooves.
