Alex Wann Reimagines Route 94’s ‘My Love’ with Afro-House Vibe
Parisian DJ and producer Alex Wann continues to make a name for himself in the global electronic music scene. Known for his innovative approach and versatile sound, Wann has become a prominent figure in the Deep House genre, blending elements of Afro-house, tech house, and melodic house. His latest release, a remix of the 2014 hit ‘My Love’ by Route 94 featuring Jess Glynne, showcases his ability to reimagine iconic tracks while staying true to his soulful roots. Released on EMI’s Positiva Records, ‘My Love’ marks a significant milestone in Wann’s career. He has taken the original UK house anthem and infused it with an Afro-house vibe, a sound that has become synonymous with his work over the past two years. By blending Jess Glynne’s emotive vocals with rhythmic, repetitive beats, Wann has created a track that feels both fresh and familiar. Wann himself described the track as having an “instant connection with the dancefloor,” a sentiment echoed by the widespread support it has received from influential DJs and radio shows. Pete Tong and Danny Howard have featured it on BBC Radio 1, while John Summit included it in his set at CODA Toronto, further cementing its status as a dancefloor favorite. High-Profile Collaborations Several notable achievements have highlighted Wann’s rise in the electronic music scene. His breakthrough came with the release of ‘Milkshake,’ a track that quickly became a staple in DJ sets worldwide. Wann has also been involved in high-profile collaborations and remixes, including a standout remix of Swedish House Mafia’s ‘Ray of Solar’ in collaboration with Sasson. His partnership with Chris Lake’s Black Book Records has further solidified his position in the industry, with tracks like ‘Chase’ and ‘Haze’ receiving widespread acclaim. As Alex Wann continues to release music that pushes boundaries while staying true to his artistic vision, his remix of ‘My Love’ not only honors the legacy of the original but also propels Wann further into the spotlight as a rising star in the industry. Burning Man Exodus Dampened By Major Dust Storm
*Featured Cover Photo Credit: Ashley Harrell / SFGATE On September 2nd, the Labor Day holiday, tens of thousands of Burning Man attendees enjoyed their last day at the festival’s playas. While departing (or trying to depart), the Burning Man attendees faced a heavy dust storm that affected traffic significantly. According to an article from The Daily Beast, the attendees faced delayed traffic times of up to 10 hours getting off-site. Not just that, the dust storm affected the visibility of the Burning Man attendees trying to leave by reducing it to just five feet. Burning Man Traffic‘s account on X (formerly Twitter) had a post at 07:24 p.m yesterday that had a travel time of “6 hours from Greeters to pavement”. The account at 08:21 p.m. also uploaded another updated post that also shown an expected travel time of 6 hours too, in addition to the frequent posts that showed 4-5 hour commute times as well. According to another article from SFGATE editor Ashley Harrell, who attended this year’s festival with her partner, the dust storm started during the Temple Burn on Friday night, August 30th. Since then, even during the famous burning of “The Man” statue, the dust storm still continued, much to the detriment of the Burning Man attendees trying to leave Black Rock City as quickly as possible. Photo Credit: Jason Ross / Reno Gazette Journal Current status of the Burning Man dust storm situation As of this current moment, Burning Man Traffic’s X account now has travel-time updates that state “1 hour from Greeters to pavement”. For the Burning Man attendees, the dust storm is another hectic event on and around the playas that have made their experiences in the 2024 edition something that will live on in their memories for a very long time. Earlier in the week, during the first day of the festival to be exact, an attendee died after she was found unresponsive and the attendee’s death occurred after the festival began after a 12-hour delay due to rain and muddy conditions. In addition, The Mirror reported that a man named Samer Naouri got under arrest for false imprisonment, kidnapping, and abduction, as well as a drug-related offense. Furthermore, a woman named Susie Holland had to pay a fine of $1,500 to the Nevada Transportation Authority and the impound lot for giving rides to people who were heading to Black Rock City for cash without a proper permit (under Nevada transportation regulations). For the majority of the Burning Man attendees who were trying to leave, even after packing all of their things into their vehicles/trailers/RVs, the dust storm have probably affected their physical and mental well-beings. The same goes if they hitchhiked or taking the bus (or ridesharing) as well. If they do plan on returning to Black Rock City next year, or anyone who is planning to attending their first Burning Man, preparing for worst-case traffic/storm scenarios should be an important task for them to include in their plans. Quentyn Present Indie-Electronic single ‘I Wanna Know’
Former Volt & State member, Quentyn is back with I Wanna Know. The new single from the indie-electronic music artist blends electronic festival-feel melodies with organic indie band sounds. “I Wanna Know” showcases Quentyn’s signature style; festival-feel melodies are intertwined with the raw, organic sounds typical of indie bands. Quentyn’s songwriting process is unique; he begins each track on the piano, crafting the perfect melody loop before layering in electronic elements. This method results in music that is not just for festivals but for moments of introspection and active listening. The tune works when you’re on the road, alone, or during contemplation. It’s not surprising that early support for “I Wanna Know” has been strong. BBC Music, for instance, has already backed the track. The song has also gained significant traction on social media, with related content amassing over 300,000 views on Instagram. The success was also built thanks to a popular solo challenge that has captured the attention of music fans worldwide. Quentyn describes his music as designed to evoke the feeling of a plot twist in a movie. The sounds are reminiscent of the moment when the underdog triumphs against all odds, fueled by determination and a brilliant master plan. “I Wanna Know” is no exception, embodying the motivation and strength to take action in life, rather than serving as an escape. From Speedway to Soundwaves: Tai Woffinden’s High-Octane Journey into Music
In a fascinating twist, three-time World Speedway Champion Tai Woffinden, known for his dominance on the speedway track has now embarked on a thrilling new adventure in the world of electronic music. Inspired by top-tier artists like FISHER and motivated by his natural drive as a professional athlete, Tai is releasing tracks on Armada Music and collaborating with legends like Gabry Ponte. We caught up with him to explore his fresh perspective on music, balancing life as a DJ, racer, and father, and his plans for the future. You are best known for your impressive career as a 3x World Speedway Champion, what made you decide to also pursue a career in music? Well, we have Paul Fisher to thank for that. I went to his festival he did in Australia and his partner Chloe Fisher hooked me up with some backstage passes and I remember thinking he was a pro surfer and look what he’s doing here following his passion for music too. FISHER inspired me so I locked in and here we are releasing a track on Armada with Gabry Ponte! Life is wild… What lessons have you carried over from your speedway career into DJing and producing? I don’t know if there are any lessons, but to be a professional athlete and achieve what I have over the years it takes a certain kind of mindset and drive and I will carry that forward as that the only way I know how to live. How has the response from the electronic music community been since you began pursuing DJing? So far so good but were only just getting started! There’s a famous quote by American basketball legend Shaquile O’Neal that when he’s on stage performing as DJ Diesel, he has the same feeling as a playoff game. Do you also feel that same energy? I’m not sure yet, because until I play to a 55,000 capacity music crowd, the equivalent of the racing audience at Warsaw Polish Grand Prix, it’s not until then I can truly compare. However, I know one thing, I thrive in them high pressure situations like Diesel did when he was shooting hoops! How does your background and experience as a professional athlete influence the way you approach music? Well, like I say I’m good under pressure and I guess the touring aspect of a speedway racer’s life is very aligned with that of a DJ on the road. Just swapping the bikes for decks. Who is your biggest inspiration when it comes to electronic music? I love watching Will Sparks perform he always brings great energy. Fred again… is a true musical legend and his skills with instruments is super impressive. Then you have James Hype the master of the decks! There are too many amazing people in the scene to list them all. You released a track with Gabry Ponte, a legend in the Eurodance scene and best known of course for being part of Eiffel 65, did you (like me) grow up listening to that style of music? What was it like collaborating with him? I grew up listening to everything that my mum would be blasting on the stereo, often Michael Jackson. My youth days were loading up the skits mix CDs with my mate at the weekends and raving all night while his mum was working night. Then, when I was 16, we jumped the fence to go see Pendulum but my heart is main stage techno. We sent the track to Gabry’s team and just two days later we got a reply saying that he loved it and wanted to get straight to work on finishing touches. I’m stoked with how it turned out and to have such an enthusiastic reaction from someone of his level is really motivating. How do you go about balancing being a father, your career in racing and music, vlogging, and creating content on social media? Ahh yeah some days can be tricky… Socials are super easy. It only takes 5 min to post. I do all my own stuff, I put the vlogs on the back burner as we’re not allowed to use any race footage so it just did not make sense to do a race day vlog with a few clips of racing. For now, racing and producing works super well it’s a nice balance and allows me to switch off from the racing. The hardest part is being away from my wife and kids but I’m the provider and I want to give them the best life possible. We home school the kids when we’re in UK so we get so much time with them as we can when I’m home and it allows us to jump on a plane and they can all come so I feel we make the best of it. But my wife Faye is the key, she is very understanding about what I do for a living and she is our rock, the heart of the family! We have already lived ten lifetimes in the last ten years and I can’t wait for the next ones! Final question, where would you like to see your music career and racing legacy evolve in the years to come? There is still more that I want to achieve in the sport so I will continue my path and see where we end up. As for the music scene, I’m only just getting started and if its anything like my racing career it’s gonna be one hell of a ride!

Here’s a look at the dance artists who absolutely dominated this summer. 1) Charli XCXCharli XCX has always been a pop sensation, but this summer, she fully embraced the dance music scene—and the results were electric. Her latest album, ‘Hyperdrive’, brought together catchy pop hooks with pulsating electronic beats, creating the perfect soundtrack for the season. Tracks like ‘Glitch in the System’ and ‘Electric Heart’ became instant favorites, blasting from speakers at every major festival. But it wasn’t just her music that made waves this summer—Charli XCX also sparked a viral movement with her “Brat” persona. Leaning into an unapologetically bold and rebellious image, she encouraged fans to embrace their inner “brat” by being fearless, fun, and a little bit defiant. The #BratMovement quickly took off on social media, with fans posting their own “brat” moments, embodying the carefree and confident attitude Charli promotes. Charli’s live shows were nothing short of spectacular. Her energy on stage, combined with her innovative sound and bratty flair, made her performances a must-see. By collaborating with top producers, pushing the boundaries of her music, and creating a cultural movement, Charli XCX reminded everyone why she’s a powerhouse in both pop and dance music. 2) KeinemusikIf you were anywhere near a dance floor this summer, you probably felt the deep, hypnotic beats of Keinemusik. This Berlin-based collective—made up of Rampa, &ME, and Adam Port—took their already stellar reputation to new heights in 2024. Their signature blend of house, techno, and Afro-inspired rhythms created an unforgettable vibe wherever they played. Their track ‘Desert Sun’ was a summer anthem, with its deep basslines and dreamy melodies captivating listeners everywhere. Whether they were performing at an intimate club or on a massive festival stage, Keinemusik delivered sets that transported audiences to another world, making them one of the standout acts of the season. 3) FisherFisher knows how to get a party started, and this summer, he was on fire. The Australian DJ and producer, famous for his infectious house tracks, dropped ‘Shake That’—a track that quickly became the anthem of every beach party and festival. With its catchy hooks and thumping basslines, it was impossible not to dance when Fisher was on the decks. His live sets were all about having fun, with Fisher’s playful energy and sense of humor shining through. From Ibiza to Miami, Fisher’s name was on everyone’s lips, and his music kept the crowds moving from sunset to sunrise. This summer, he proved once again why he’s one of the biggest names in dance music. 4) Sara LandrySara Landry has been quietly making waves in the techno scene, and this summer, she truly broke through. Known for her dark, intense sound, Sara’s music brought a fresh edge to the summer’s dance floors. Her album ‘Rituals’ was a standout, with tracks like ‘Black Mirror’ and ‘Shadow Dance’ becoming underground hits. Sara’s DJ sets were a deep dive into the darker side of dance music, filled with pounding beats and eerie atmospheres that left audiences entranced. Her ability to blend hard-hitting techno with haunting melodies set her apart, making her one of the most exciting artists to watch this summer. 5) John SummitJohn Summit has been on a steady rise in the dance music world, and in 2024, he reached new heights. The Chicago-born DJ and producer had a massive summer, with his album ‘Comfort In Chaos’ dominating playlists and dance floors everywhere. John Summit’s live sets were pure energy, with a mix of house and tech-house that kept the party going all night long. His connection with the crowd and ability to create an unforgettable vibe made him one of the most in-demand artists of the season. As summer 2024 comes to a close, these five artists have left a lasting impression on the dance music scene. From Charli XCX’s pop-infused beats to John Summit’s house anthems, each brought their own unique flavor to the summer, making it one of the hottest seasons in recent memory.

Woman Slapped With Fines for Giving Rides to Burning Man
A Nevada woman is feeling the heat after Nevada authorities hit her with fines for offering rides to Burning Man. 61-year-old Susie Holland recently shared her story with the Reno Gazette Journal. Holland says Nevada Transportation Authority agents swarmed her car when she arrived to pick up Burners making their way to Black Rock Desert. It turns out her Burners were undercover agents. “When I pulled in … they just swooped up on me in three undercover Ford Explorers,” Holland told the RGJ. “They were coming at me so fast, so hard and so intensely, I was like, what is happening right now?” Holland says agents searched her car before informing her she could face up to $30,000 in fines. The crime? Apparently, it’s illegal to give rides to Burning Man without a permit. “We are seeing huge amounts of illegal activity. Most people don’t even know that they are operating illegally. But it is illegal to operate without a certificate of public convenience, a necessity that is administered and issued through the Nevada Transportation Authority,” Vaughn Hartung, the Chairman of NTA, said to KOLO-TV. When Holland went to the impound lot to get her car, she says an attendant told her 18 other cars had been brought in for the same reason. The 61-year-old Reno resident ended up paying $1,500 to both the NTA and the impound lot to get her car back. Holland is still waiting to see how much her fine will be. “This is (the NTA’s) hunting season. They’re not going to let us know that this is illegal. It doesn’t behoove them in any way,” Holland told the Reno Gazette Journal. The post Woman Slapped With Fines for Giving Rides to Burning Man appeared first on EDMTunes.

Turntable.fm Creators to Launch Social Listening Platform, Hangout, Following $8.2M Funding Round
What was once a raging inferno of music tech that flickered out too soon is being rekindled with a spark of innovation and a hefty dose of capital. Turntable Labs, the brainchild of the original Turntable.fm creators, is back with a new social music app called Hangout. With $8.2 million in fresh funding and lessons learned from their initial venture, they're ready to make a mark on music tech once more. In the early 2010s, Turntable.fm emerged as a breakout platform that promised to change the way we listen to music online. The product allowed users to DJ in virtual rooms, share tracks and engage in social interactions, creating a real-time interactive space for music lovers. However, the original Turntable.fm met an unfortunate end when the complexities of music licensing began to consume company resources and stall crucial product developments. Combined with a lack of sustainable revenue, the brand's operating woes made it difficult to attract further investment. Fast-forward to today, when the company, led by Joseph Perla, is ready to give it another go with Hangout, an app designed to bring back the best elements of Turntable.fm while addressing its past. Unlike its predecessor, Hangout's founders believe it has a clearer strategy for growth and sustainability, and the app's development has been backed by a recent $8.2 million seed round led by Founders Fund, Elizabeth Street Ventures, 468 Capital and f7 Ventures along with angel investor Michael Guimarin, the CEO of WordOut. One of the main differences between Turntable.fm and Hangout is a refined focus on community and gamification. Hangout aims to deliver an engaging social listening experience complete with custom avatars, upvoting systems and real-time interactions. As the app gears up for its full launch in 2024, its founders are in active talks with music rightsholders to ensure all legal bases are covered—a lesson learned the hard way in their previous venture. The waitlist for the forthcoming launch of Hangout can be found here. Check out a walkthrough of the platform below.

ISOxo and Knock2 Dare Gravity, DJ From Suspended Shipping Container at North Coast Festival
In a daring spectacle, ISOKNOCK—the collaborative powerhouse of ISOxo and Knock2—turned heads at North Coast Music Festival this past Labor Day Weekend when they performed from a DJ booth suspended in a shipping container by a crane. The high-flying setup was a perfect metaphor for ISOKNOCK's meteoric trajectory thus far: elevated, risky and absolutely thrilling. It's not merely the audacity of their performance that had fans buzzing at Chicago's Seat Geek Stadium and across social media thereafter; it's the duo's characteristically bold approach, one that has come to define them as one of dance music's most exciting acts in years. Fresh off the release of their surprise album, 4EVR, ISOKNOCK have been enthralling live audiences with their visceral fusion of raw trap, dance and punk elements. The album is a reflection of the duo's penchant for pushing boundaries and flying by the seat of their pants—the same spirit that was on full display at North Coast over the holiday weekend. It's timely proof that when it comes to pushing the envelope in electronic music, there's few standard bearers doing it quite like ISOxo and Knock2. Brownies & Lemonade, the electronic music event organizer known for their unique pop-up raves in unexpected places, called the stunt "one of the craziest takeovers we’ve ever done."
