  1. Next up on the RPM by KNTXT label (Charlotte de Witte’s imprint) is the young and exciting Gaston Fiore, an Argentine producer making big waves with his powerful stripped-down mix of Trance and Techno. He serves up three tracks on his latest EP, The Day You Left Me, that are all directly aimed at the dance floor but infused with human emotion. Fiore embarked on his musical journey in early 2020 and quickly made a mark thanks to his dynamic style. Some of his tunes have made their way into some respected record bags as he continues to pick up a worldwide fan base. Listen here. ‘The Day You Left Me’ is high-speed Techno Trance with funk in the bass notes and lasers fired from a machine gun. It is imbued with a dark sense of soul and never lets up. The equally brilliant ‘I Want You To Stay’ is another slick, urgent cut with a menacing bassline and hooky female vocals up top that swirl next to the hypnotic pads. Last of all is ‘Affects Of Love’ which is a third and final beautifully floating track with powerful drums and tender chords up top, all of which come with a futuristic sense of moody. “This EP is really special to me”, says Gaston Fiore. “I’ve been following Charlotte for many years and I’m very grateful to be releasing music on her label now. This selection of tracks are the best representation of what I want to push, a bit deep, kind of groovy and very clubby.” Charlotte de Witte adds: “Gaston Fiore’s trancy, stripped down approach always captivates me & simply makes me want to move. I’m beyond excited to welcome him on RPM by KNTXT with these beautiful, floaty yet effective tracks.” The post Gastion Fiore Releases The Day You Left Me EP On Charlotte de Witte’s Label appeared first on EDMTunes.
  2. A shocking incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, September 7th, when a raver who was refused entry to the popular Berlin club Sisyphos retaliated by driving a car into the club’s entrance gate. According to the Berliner Zeitung portal, the 26-year-old security guard politely turned the clubgoer away, who initially acknowledged the refusal and left. However, the raver soon returned in a rental car, visibly upset, and deliberately drove into the club’s entrance gate twice. The car then veered towards the two bouncers who had denied him entry. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, and the suspect fled the scene. Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Sisyphos, one of Berlin’s most beloved clubs, opened its doors in 2008 in the abandoned dog biscuit factory in the Rummelsburg neighborhood. The club is renowned for its eclectic music, underground atmosphere, and diverse crowd. It’s a popular destination for locals and tourists alike, offering a unique and unforgettable nightlife experience. This incident is a stark reminder of the importance of responsible behavior and the potential consequences of anger and frustration. The club’s management has not yet released a statement regarding the incident. In the aftermath of the incident, many people have expressed their shock and outrage on social media. Some have called for stricter security measures at clubs, while others have criticized the raver’s actions as dangerous and irresponsible. As the investigation into the incident continues, it remains to be seen what the consequences will be for the suspect who drove into the club. The incident has also raised concerns about the safety of clubgoers and the need for improved security measures to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future. Hulaween has just revealed its highly-anticipated festival theme and set times for the 11th annual edition taking place from Thursday, October 24 – Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida. The Halloween festival has become one of the country’s leading multi-genre camping events with its forward-thinking lineups and immersive, experiential elements. Over its past 10 editions, Hulaween’s festival theme has become a coveted part of its identity, encouraging inclusive creative expression with the Halloween spirit in mind. The String Cheese Incident typically dedicates one of their multiple Hulaween sets to the theme each year and invites attendees to use their imagination to create inspired costumes. In 2023, Hulaween featured the “Full Moon Family Reunion” and 2022 hosted the “Suwannee Horror Disco Show”. This year, Hulaween’s official costume theme will be “Weir’d Science” to celebrate Bobby Weir’s festival debut with The String Cheese Incident on Sunday, October 27. The magical weekend will invite fans to dress in anything from mad scientists to extraterrestrial creatures. 4. True Entertainment Events, one of Southern California’s most respected underground dance music purveyors, has just launched its own management division, True Management. True Entertainment Events has spent the last decade growing its annual, grassroots camping festival Off The Grid Campout from a 50-person desert renegade to a 1200-person, four-day festival that programs 76+ nonstop hours of house, techno, drum n’ bass and more. Now, the company is ready to extrapolate from their years of experience building fervent, community-oriented audiences and translate that skillset to artist development, where they’ll separate themselves from the pack through a “no-ego” approach. That uniquely collaborative approach is being spearheaded by company founder Mikey Made, the DJ/producer/event impresario who has spent his career cultivating DIY spaces in Southern California’s underground scene. Musically, True Management will specialize in hybrid DJ/live acts from across genres such as house, techno, and bass. Philosophically, Mikey Made wants to offer an alternative to the industry’s exploitative, aloof management companies and agencies, and act as a conduit for artists to find their perfect team members – an approach that emphasizes long-term industry success without sacrificing happiness or ethics. In tandem with their company launch, True Management has named melodic techno prodigy Robot Sunrise (the solo project of producer/multi-instrumentalist Danny Klein) as the company’s first client. A long-time ringleader of LA’s house and techno scene, Robot Sunrise previously made waves as half of electronic duo Dreamfreak, where he released multiple tracks through legendary dance record label Astralwerks. He’s also co-written and performed with GRAMMY-winning artist / G.O.O.D. Music-affiliate Really Doe, as well as co-written for GRAMMY-nominated act Télépopmusik. Credit: Blake Mohr Robot Sunrise is the perfect artist to kick off this new era of True Management: as an innovative producer, DJ and live instrumentalist with a charitable mission (Robot Sunrise will donate a portion of his music proceeds to Human Rights Foundation), Robot Sunrise embodies the core principles of True Management. Robot Sunrise has also known Mikey Made for years, and played multiple iterations of Off The Grid Campout, Off the Grid Hotel, and the recent Off the Grid stage at Mexico City’s Atmosphere Festival, giving their newly-minted joint effort additional creative synergy. Today, in his first release as part of the True Management family, Robot Sunrise unveils ‘London Public WiFi (Robbie Rivera Remix)‘ under SPIN Records/Greater Than Distribution – wherein legendary house maestro Robbie Rivera brilliantly reworks the original single, which has amassed more than 80,000 Spotify streams since dropping last year. Serving as SPIN Records’ first-ever release, ‘London Public WiFi (Robbie Rivera Remix)‘ marks the second collaboration of 2024 between Robot Sunrise and the UK chart-topping Rivera, following ‘A New Start (Robbie Rivera Remix)‘. However, the two producers have spent years establishing a close creative partnership (Dreamfreak, with band-mate doll machine, collaborated with Rivera on tracks such as ‘The Stars‘ and ‘One‘), a fact made evident on this new remix. With its seamless blending of Robot Sunrise’s cinematic techno stylings alongside Rivera’s signature instrumental bounce, ‘London Public Wifi (Robbie Rivera Remix)‘ is a spellbinding showcase of two artists at the peak of their songwriting powers. “Robot Sunrise is making waves in the culture of melodic techno music. From the preview performance we saw at SXSW 2024 cementing his place as one to watch, to now becoming the first release on SPIN Records, Greater Than is excited to rise to the occasion and help set the stage for Robot Sunrise’s bright future“ -Paula Moore and Randy Jackson, Co-CEO’s of Greater Than Distribution Kicking off with immersive analog synth sound design and robotic vocals, ‘London Public WiFi (Robbie Rivera Remix)‘ builds with a triumphant mix of orchestral brass elements, spacious piano tones, and extra-terrestrial synth layering before easing into a groovy club beat. Imbuing the original’s sci-fi atmosphere with infectious techno rhythms and a glorious sense of scale, Robbie Rivera crafts an update that expands on the original’s sonic mission statement without sacrificing the track’s initial creative spirit. 5. Who are you? Monstercat, headed up by Senior Directors Orri Sachar & Daniel Turcotte. What’s your ethos? Monstercat is a community-focused label with a diverse roster of artists. We take pride in showcasing exciting new talent bursting onto the scene alongside some of the most sought-after legendary artists around the world, and strive to make our music accessible to ravers and gamers alike. Rather than positioning a single artist at the centre of our label, Monstercat is an equal playing field for all artists looking to have their moment in the spotlight. Tell us your origin story? Monstercat was founded in 2011 by Mike Darlington and Ari Paunonen in the Canadian college town of Waterloo. With the help of rising tastemaker and A&R Jon Winter aka ‘Going Quantum’, the three built a community of artists from the furthest corners of the internet and used emerging music discovery platforms like YouTube to amass an army of loyal superfans. Fast forward 13 years later, and that idea that was formed in online chatrooms has turned into a global authority in all forms of dance music, with millions of followers, and billions of streams. Tell us about your local scene… As a Canadian company, the majority of the Monstercat team is based in Vancouver, BC, and operates remotely. This allows the team to enjoy the beautiful nature that the Canadian west coast has to offer, as well as a rich outdoor festival culture with annual events such as Shambhala, Fvded in the Park and Basscoast all within a short distance from home. The company’s primary creative hub is located in Los Angeles, where Artists are constantly coming through to work with our teams in Monstercat’s state of the art studio spaces. Do you have a specific sound or vibe? Our vibe is generally fun, high energy, and carefree; it’s tough to take yourself too seriously when your mascot is a cat. Sonically, we have evolved over the years as our roster of artists has grown and diversified. One of the perks of not being an artist figurehead label is that we can adapt as the global music landscape shifts, rather than being pigeon holed to one specific genre. Our culture as a label has always been about positivity, a pure love of music, and setting a quality standard for the next generation of dance music listeners. Do you have a regular artist roster? Monstercat has both a core artist roster, and a large list of friends and familiar faces who we always welcome back with open arms. 2024 is full of exciting releases with longtime label mainstays like Koven, MUZZ, Crankdat, WHIPPED CREAM, Sullivan King, Bossfight and Dirtyphonics. We’ve also managed to bring in some acts that we’re really big fans of like ATLiens, Nostalgix, Samplifire, Control Freak, Riot Ten, INFEKT, Fairlane, & UZ. Even with all that said, we have an incredibly exciting last few months of the year, including records from Virtual Riot, REZZ, Rusko, and Zomboy, who are all making their label debuts. There are so many more names we didn’t mention, and so many incredible artists that we have the pleasure of working with, we’re truly spoiled with amazing music here at Monstercat. Tell us about your A&R process… We release a lot of records, 250+ releases per year across three distinct labels. Each label has a different sound/approach, and a release output that matches that goal. For Monstercat Uncaged, which is our Bass music-focused label, our A&Rs focus on finding records that are High Energy, and Fun. One thing that has always been at the forefront of our A&R process is to ensure that a song can be enjoyed both in a high-energy club/festival setting and in a personal listening experience at home. We want to make sure our records are catchy and memorable, and that they have their own unique identity. At the end of the day, we are dance music fans first, and so if we love something we hear, it is our duty as a label to share that as far and wide as possible. What makes you different from other labels? As much as we are in this industry to have fun and celebrate great art, we also take our jobs incredibly seriously. Life at Monstercat is early mornings and late nights, it’s making sure that every detail is well thought out and intentional, and creating a safe space for our artists and community to share their passion for music. That mentality has been our core belief for 13+ years, which has allowed us to continue to grow and thrive in an ever-changing musical landscape. What does it take to run a bass music label in 2024? To run a label in 2024 and beyond…you need to be crafty, and you need to be constantly reinventing your approach to getting your records out in the world. Dance music fans aren’t going anywhere, but the tools needed to reach them are constantly changing, and as a label, our job is to be the best at connecting songs with as many ears as possible. In 2024, we’ve seen DJ performances connecting in the digital space like never before, especially when you can capture that magic moment in an artist’s set; it’s a great tool for getting people’s attention in an overstimulated digital world. We also feel like authentic interactions with dance fans and artists will continue to dominate in a world that is increasingly influenced by algorithms and platforms. What have you got coming up we should look out for? Our Annual Monstercat ADE showcase in Amsterdam is happening October. 17, with a lineup that we still can’t believe is real (take a look!). We also have marquee takeovers at Lost Lands (Sept. 20-22), Same Same But Different (Sept. 27-29) and Ministry of Sound (Oct. 11), and a few more events to be announced as we round out the year. 2024 has really raised the bar for artists, records and events at Monstercat, and so we really look forward to continuing the momentum going into the new year. We encourage everyone reading this to dive into some of our recent releases if you haven’t because we are really proud of the incredible collective of artists and records we’ve been able to support this year.

  7. Stories of downfall don't always leave room for redemption, but Billy McFarland has announced his plan to reverse the fortunes of 2017's ill-fated Fyre Festival in early 2025. Speaking with NBC News' Savannah Sellers on TODAY, McFarland officially announced Fyre Festival II, which he says is set to take place in April on a private island in the Caribbean off the coast of Mexico. With lessons learned, McFarland says he's making changes in an effort to rebuild the most infamous brand in festival culture. The event, spanning three days, will aim to lean on existing infrastructure for lodging and services. He also stated that Fyre has contracted the services of an outside production company to manage the logistics, the name of which he will reveal at a later stage. Following McFarland's guilty plea on wire fraud charges, he was released from jail in 2022. However, he still owes restitution to employees and investors of the original Fyre Festival to the tune of approximately $26 million. Ergo, the stakes seemingly could not be higher this time around. "Fyre II has to work," McFarland recently told the Wall Street Journal. McFarland, however, remains cognizant of the fact that it's unlikely the totality of his financial debt will be wiped clean in one fell swoop. "It’s hard because this is the deeper issue, where there are people who were legitimately hurt and let down from Fyre I, whether that was an employee and a family of a member of an employee, a ticket-holder," he told Sellers on TODAY. 'So there’s a lot of work that needs to be done to repay those people. I don’t think it’s practical. I don’t actually think it’s right to try to do all that in the first year. I think that would lead to short term decisions." Despite the debacle of the original Fyre Festival on the Bahamian island of Great Exuma, it appears thousands of consumers are still willing to place their trust in McFarland's vision for Fyre II. Just 10 hours after the announcement, he revealed that applications had been submitted for over 5,000 tickets, noting the event will only accommodate 3,000 attendees total. A sliding scale of ticket packages will start from $1,400 all the way up to a jaw-dropping $1.1 million per ticket. Prospective ticket-buyers can submit their application here. Fyre Festival II is scheduled to take place April 25-28, 2025. EXCLUSIVE: Billy McFarland reveals date and location for Fyre Festival II “Fyre Festival II is happening April 25, 2025, so we’re seven and a half months away,” he told @watchsavannah. “We have a private island off the coast of Mexico in the Caribbean." pic.twitter.com/Qw5gq9NTNA — TODAY (@TODAYshow) September 9, 2024

  17. When a DJ explicitely says they would not work with another artist, usually we would be shocked. However, DJ and Producer Fatboy Slim has a really understandable excuse as to why he would not be able to work with electronic star Fred again.. . Technology Savvy? Turns out Norman Cook AKA Fatboy Slim wouldn’t work with Fred Again.. only because Slim is far too old-school with his old equipment. He stated that would not be able to catch up to Fred’s. On an interview for Apple Music 1, Slim expressed that people have requested for both british artists to collaborate. However, Slim explained that Fred’s tech is far too advanced. He continued, that even into this century, he was using his Atari ST-based setup until he was peer-pressured to upgrade to a smaller laptop. He then had to learn Ableton, which was a challenge for him. Nevertheless, he was able to adapt and conquer well into this decade. Nevertheless, Cook still dabbles back into his retro-gear here and there. Whenever he can’t find inspiration in his laptop, he will go back to his Atari set up and let the flow carry his art. Furthermore, he gave Fred Again.. his flowers : f”I’m old school, i’m og and i’m used to just playing records with the cross fader and maybe just using a sample a bit, but he’s taking it to the next level, i don’t feel like i’m in the same conversation as him.” Fatboy Slim Jokingly, he also stated that he would feel lost producing during a session with Fred. He since considers Fred as a tech-wizard. Towards the end of the interview, Fatboy Slim announced that he has a new single on the way. Even though he was not as excited to reveal ‘Bus Stop Please’, we are extremely excited to enjoy more of the OG. Slim is currently Europe before touching down in North America For Escape Halloween in San Bernardino and Radius in Chicago. 19. This year marks the 25th edition of Isle of Wight Festival, including the three original events held in 1968, ‘69 and ‘70. To celebrate this landmark in music history, Experience 25 – an exhibition dedicated to the festival’s remarkable history – will run at the O2’s Innovation Centre from 19th September – 13th November. The grand space will play host to an archive documenting the festival’s most magical moments; from Bob Dylan’s 150,000 strong crowd in 1969 (which included three of The Beatles), to Amy Winehouse’s duet with Mick Jagger in 2007. Visitors will travel back in time and be invited into the office of Ray Foulk, the original curator of the first three festivals. Step inside an authentic recreation of Ray’s wonderfully creative and chaotic workspace and see how he and his team put together the historic events with a hippy ethos, overcoming a series of obstacles and dramas along the way. Also on display, original images and footage of performances by The Doors, The Who, Joni Mitchell, and even Hendrix shredding in front a 500,000 strong crowd in 1970. Experience the atmosphere of a moment in time – an era of hope and innocence. Guests will then be transported to 2002, when legendary promoter John Giddings revived the festival, beginning its hugely successful run to the present day. The Isle of Wight Festival now hosts 60,000 music fans a year. Relive David Bowie’s stunning headline set in 2004, Jay Z’s dominating performance in 2010 and Dave Grohl cementing himself in rock history 2011, all the way through to Green Day taking the reins as 2024’s unforgettable headliners. Experience 25’s London run finds its perfect home at the O2; a venue inextricably linked to the Isle of Wight Festival, where many of its artists throughout the years have graced the stage. John Giddings said: “The iconic Isle of Wight festival 1970 was the Woodstock of Europe, but the IOW Member of Parliament at the time, in all his wisdom, decided to ban it for 32 years in the form of an act of parliament – allowing others to pick up the baton… “They let us restart it for the Queen’s jubilee, and it has gone from strength to strength – re-establishing this small island off the south coast of England as a worldwide brand. “Here is a celebration of the last 22 years, with the original three years added by kind courtesy of Ray Foulk, without whom it, it would not exist…” Ray Foulk said: “My family is delighted to contribute to this commemorative show with historic items and archives as it travels from the Island to the O2. It is with great pride that our embryonic rock festivals of more than half a century ago have been so successfully and splendidly revived”. Experience 25 incorporates the three Isle of Wight Festivals that were organised by Ray Foulk and his brothers – the 1970 one being ‘The Last Great Event’ at which everyone played, including Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, The Who and Joni Mitchell and over half a million people came to see them! Plus the new Isle of Wight Festival exhibition from 2002 onwards – the hugely successful international Festival, which was restarted by John Giddings, and now sees 60,000 music fans arrive on the Isle of Wight every year to see artists such as Green Day, The Pet Shop Boys and The Prodigy (this year); Robbie Williams, Blondie and Pulp (2023); Fleetwood Mac (2016); The Red Hot Chili Peppers (2014); Bruce Springsteen (2012); Dave Grohl (2011); Paul McCartney, Pink and Jay Z (2010), The Rolling Stones and Amy Winehouse (2007) and David Bowie and The Who (2004). Berliner Zeitung, one of the city's oldest newspapers, on Monday reported that the incident took place shortly before 6am on September 7th, when a pair of security guards refused the man's entrance to Sisyphos. "The two security guards, aged 26 and 41, turned him away, which he initially politely acknowledged and then left," per Berliner Zeitung. "Shortly afterwards, however, he returned in a rental car, completely upset, and deliberately drove into the club's entrance gate twice." The suspect drove his rented Audi into the wall of Sisyphos before reversing and colliding with the club's famed gate, which features a design of kissing ducks. He reportedly fled the scene and no one was injured, including the bouncers, who narrowly managed to evade his vehicle by jumping back to the sidewalk. Additional details surrounding the alleged crash are scarce, but an investigation is underway as local authorities seek testimony from witnesses. The extent of the damage to Sisyphos' exterior is unclear at the time of this writing and the club's proprietors have not yet publicly commented.
