Apple Halts Vision Pro Production Amid Pricing Challenges
Apple’s foray into virtual reality with the Vision Pro promised a revolutionary leap forward in immersive technology. Combining sleek design with cutting-edge capabilities, the Vision Pro captured headlines as the next big thing in tech. But less than a year after its highly anticipated launch, Apple has officially ceased production of the high-end headset. The abrupt halt underscores a tough lesson: even the most innovative products can stumble when they miss the mark on market dynamics. A Price Tag Too Steep for Most When the Vision Pro debuted, it made waves with an initial sales surge of 200,000 units. However, excitement soon gave way to sticker shock. With a starting price of $3,500 in the U.S. and $3,999 in Europe, the Vision Pro was anything but budget-friendly. Many consumers balked at spending more on a VR headset than a top-tier MacBook. Tim Cook admitted that the Vision Pro was never intended for the mass market, targeting tech-savvy enthusiasts and professionals instead. Still, the steep pricing proved to be a formidable barrier, with many consumers opting to forego the luxury VR experience for more affordable options. It became increasingly clear that the Vision Pro’s niche audience wasn’t large enough to sustain its ambitious rollout. Competition and Overproduction Technological superiority wasn’t enough to save the Vision Pro from market realities. While it boasted unmatched visuals and immersive interactivity, it couldn’t compete with the affordability of alternatives like Meta’s Quest 3, priced at just $329. Consumers seeking a cost-effective way to explore VR gravitated toward these less expensive headsets. Reports revealed Apple was left with an inventory of 500,000 to 600,000 unsold Vision Pro units. Facing underwhelming demand and fierce competition, Apple made the difficult choice to halt production. The headset’s fate highlights a growing challenge for tech giants: balancing premium innovation with the consumer demand for affordability. The Future: A More Accessible Vision Despite this setback, Apple isn’t abandoning the VR space. Tim Cook confirmed that a more affordable version of the Vision Pro is already in development. Early speculation suggests the new model could be priced around $2,300—still premium but significantly lower than the original. This pivot reflects Apple’s intent to broaden its reach in the VR market while maintaining its hallmark quality. The Vision Pro was marketed as more than just a VR device, with the potential to replace traditional laptops and serve as a tool for creative professionals. However, the premium positioning clashed with the priorities of an increasingly price-sensitive audience. As Apple works to strike a balance between innovation and accessibility, the Vision Pro’s legacy could pave the way for more inclusive VR experiences. UKF15- Our First Dubstep Upload
Yesterday we reminisced over our first ever drum and bass upload. Today we’re looking back on our the first upload on our Dubstep YouTube channel- Black Sun Empire’s ‘Hyper Sun’. As we continue to gear up for the grand finale of our UKF15 celebrations, a sold-out show at the mighty Drumsheds on December 13 – we want to catch up with Black Sun Empire. We reflect on what “that blue logo” means to fans, talk about what UKF means to them and, of course, their favourite-ever UKF upload. Your track ‘Hyper Sun’ was our first ever dubstep upload 14 years ago, what have been some of the highlights of your musical journey since then? Well we have moved house a million times since then, but now we finally bought our own place with three studios in there! That was a big change. We played so many incredible festivals and clubs. Not to mention some strange webcam spots during the pandemic, don’t ask. A highlight was working with several vocalists like Foreign Beggars, Virus Syndicate, Amatorski, Thomas Oliver, Youthstar, PNC. Hearing crowds sing and shout the words to some well-known tunes is a great feeling. Watching our label and events BLACKOUT MUSIC grow and see the artists on it grow with it is incredibly rewarding too! How has the dance music scene changed in the last 15 years? It hasn’t. I guess tracks are now a bit shorter because everyone is used to quicker switches, but that is about it. Genres come and go, come back, evolve. What does UKF represent to you? I think for a lot of people seeing that blue logo pop up in your feed meant you got to hear the best new music in the world! So many exciting memories about the stuff that came out first on there, goosebumps. What’s your favourite upload from the UKF Dubstep YouTube channel Sorry can’t do one! We’re going to go for a Bar9 track first, because they had such a groove. I remember we always tried to do something similar but failed. It sounds so easy but it isn’t. And somehow the sounds they choose, when you played it out, it was just like everything exploded. Too many to choose from, so gonna go with ‘Piano Tune Vip’, but could have been anything by them really. Flux Pavilion – ‘Bass Cannon’. Could have chosen any of his classics. None of his tunes need more awareness as they are such hits, but they do really define the genre. Somehow it’s a bridge between early UK sounds and the sound that became so huge in the States and worldwide. The first time we heard some of these played out it was that feeling of WTF is this?! Skrillex, PEEKABOO, Flowdan, G-Rex – ‘Badders’. Flowdan is the man of the hour of course. His work with Skrillex is just so sick. All these guys have done an incredible job. So dark, so simple, so good…love it! I was going to pick something by Hamdi, the other man of the hour it would seem. It’s great how all these sounds never really went away.

Bro Safari Announces First Set In 5 Years
For the first time in five years, fans will soon experience a Bro Safari set in a homecoming that feels as much a celebration of resilience as it does a musical revival. The influential bass music producer will perform during the early show of Tape B's Brooklyn Mirage takeover June 7th, 2025, marking a pivotal moment for a career once thought to be indefinitely on hold. View the original article to see embedded media. A trailblazing fusion of trap, dubstep and moombahton, Bro Safari’s music has always lived at the edge of genre. But his return to the stage after half a decade resonates far beyond his production prowess. It's the story of an artist who weathered storms of burnout, substance abuse and self-doubt—and found his way back to the joy of creation. His set, which will feature longtime collaborator Armanni Reign, will undoubtedly reflect the same kinetic energy that once propelled him to the forefront of electronic music, but it will also carry the gravity of an artist who has rebuilt his foundation brick by brick. In a candid Instagram post, Bro Safari recently reflected on the road that brought him here. "I disappeared for a few years. I didn’t know if I’d ever play shows again," he admitted. But over time, his perspective shifted. "I realized that I missed it—not just playing shows, but I missed the journey. I missed being able to meet new people, mingle with like-minded individuals, and share my musical perspective." His comeback follows years of introspection and evolution. Back in 2022, he opened up about the personal toll of life on the road, detailing how therapy helped him navigate the darkness that led him to retreat from his Bro Safari persona. The Brooklyn Mirage show is just one chapter in what promises to be an exciting new era for Bro Safari. Sharing the stage with Tape B for this showcase is emblematic of his enduring ties to the bass music community—a network of peers and fans who’ve supported his return with open arms. "Spotify Unwrapped" Parody Site Shut Down After Highlighting Artist Pay Disparity
When parody meets protest, controversy is often not far behind, and a new parody site called "Spotify Unwrapped" has proven no exception after shutting down. The site, which spoofed Spotify's beloved Wrapped feature, took a bold approach by calling attention to the stark imbalance between user subscription fees and royalties paid to artists. The now-inaccessible website left behind a pointed message: "This site used to be a parody of Spotify Wrapped that called the company out for its predatory treatment of artists. It has been removed at the request of Spotify’s legal team." Spotify unwrapped is a very different take on music consumption and the lack of fairness… https://t.co/FgLEKjI5kF pic.twitter.com/O3t7PxHYrs — Matt Guest (@Guesty22) December 6, 2024 The defunct page also directs visitors to the Union of Musicians and Allied Workers’ "Justice at Spotify" campaign, which advocates for higher per-stream payments and greater transparency in the music industry. While initial reports suggested Spotify's legal team requested the site's removal, the streaming giant denied involvement and said it had taken no such action in a statement provided to NME. The takedown has nevertheless reignited debates around the platform's economics and pay disparity. Despite the controversy, Spotify Wrapped remains a cultural touchstone, with millions sharing their stats online. However, the removal of "Spotify Unwrapped" highlights simmering deeper tensions in the industry and raises questions about how streaming services balance their ever-increasing cultural influence with fair compensation for artists.

Shaq's Fun House Bringing John Summit and Carnival Mayhem to Super Bowl Weekend
When John Summit steps behind the decks at Shaq's Fun House, The Big Easy might just vibrate off the map. On February 7th, Mardi Gras World in New Orleans will morph into an all-night playground as Shaquille O’Neal's larger-than-life vision takes center stage on the eve of Super Bowl LIX. The Super Bowl might be the main attraction, but Shaq’s Fun House ensures the party starts long before kickoff. And with Summit joining the festivities, this year’s installment promises to raise the bar on entertainment during Big Game Weekend. The house music superstar is joined on the bill by Ludacris as well as the father-and-son duo of Shaquille and Myles O'Neal. Many are speculating that the event could be where Shaq, also known as DJ Diesel, and Summit finally meet behind the decks for a collaborative set. An exchange on X hinted at the possibility last fall. While the NFL’s elite will take to the field on February 9th, the true MVP of the weekend might just be Shaq himself. His consistent ability to unite the worlds of sports and music has made the Fun House event a cornerstone of Super Bowl festivities year after year. Much like its charismatic host, Shaq's Fun House is anything but ordinary. Part music festival, part carnival and part culinary delight, it’s a one-of-a-kind experience. For those seeking more than music, the lineup includes performance art, carnival games and a six-hour open bar, all wrapped in the vibrant energy of New Orleans. Tickets to Shaq's Fun House go on sale Friday, December 13th at 10am CST.
