Will Sync Unveils New Club Banger ‘Take a Shot’
In just the first nine months of 2024, UK artist Will Sync has already made a significant mark on the house music scene. He burst onto the scene in March with his debut single ‘Love Is Fair’ and hasn’t slowed down since. Over the following months, he continued to drop standout tracks like ‘Don’t Look Back’, ‘Falling’, and, most recently, ‘Echo’, earning recognition from industry heavyweights like EDM.com. Now, he’s back on our radar with his latest release, ‘Take A Shot.’ This new single continues his streak of captivating releases, bringing a sultry, seductive vibe to the club scene. ‘Take A Shot’ is built on a rhythmic house beat, blending both ethereal and dark vocals to create an infectious, gripping sound. The track’s distinctive use of synths and samples sets it apart, cementing Will Sync’s reputation as a fresh and innovative voice in the music world. “In the club scene mainstream pop music overshadows big clubbing hits like the ones Calvin Harris and David Guetta used to produce; inspired by them, I wanted to make a ravey hit so I created Take a Shot; a mix of deep house and mainstream dance as a departure from the heavy EDM trend.” said Will Sync “Clubs need more upbeat dance music that makes people feel the reality of where they actually are, that’s why all of the lyrics around the solid, hooky bassline help people to live in the moment.” he added. Deorro Nabs First Latin Grammy Nomination
Deorro, the renowned DJ and producer behind the global dance hit "Five More Hours," has been nominated for his first Latin Grammy Award. The Mexican-American producer received a nod in the category of Best Latin Electronic Music Performance for "BAMBOLE," a collaboration he released on Pitbull's Mr. 305 Records last summer alongside crossover dance artist Vikina. The pulsing track blends her sultry vocals with Deorro's signature bouncy synths and four-on-the-floor rhythms. This year is the first to feature the brand-new category, which the Latin Recording Academy says "recognizes the evolution of Latin electronic music." "That's something that’s very big for us," Deorro told GRAMMY.com about the new category. "How beautiful that this is happening, because it shows that what we’re doing is working, we’re breaking down doors, and we’re creating more opportunities for artists like us in the future." Joining Deorro are Brazilian dance music superstar Alok, who received a pair of nominations for his tracks "Pedju Kunumigwe" and "Drum Machine"; Dutch EDM icon Tiësto, who was nominated for his remix of Bizarrap and Shakira's "Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53"; and Ale Acosta and Valeria Castro for their collaboration "La Ceniza." It's a big moment for Deorro, who revealed he'd be focusing more on Latin dance music back in 2020. The chart-topping producer then released his first crossover album, ORRO, which features collaborations with Elvis Crespo, Brray and Los Tucanes De Tijuana, in 2022 before opening up for Bad Bunny on his "World’s Hottest Tour." Earlier this year, Deorro performed a remix of "Te Va a Doler" alongside Mexican singer, songwriter Thalía, prevalently referred to as the "Queen of Latin Pop," at the 2024 Latin American Music Awards. He also signed with Double P Records, the label of hip-hop and reggaeton superstar Peso Pluma, before returning to the Mr. 305 imprint to release a rendition of "Como La Flor" by the late Mexican-American artist Selina Quintanilla alongside Natti Natasha and Play-N-Skillz. Celebrating on social media, Deorro called his first Latin Grammy nomination a "dream come true." The Latin Recording Academy's 25th annual Latin Grammy Awards will take place Thursday, November 14th at Miami's Kaseya Center. Check out the full list of nominees here. Surprise! Space Miami is Reopening This Weekend
It’s been a long, calm, and quiet Summer in Miami without Club Space. The legendary 24-hour nightclub closed after Memorial Day for some renovations to be good neighbors to the E11even condos going up next door. When the doors closed, Miami was without a techno club all Summer with no official word on when it would re-open. The Space team teased some of the work as it went on, and we could see the legendary staircase being knocked out and another one going in. Then the Space team announced a Space Pop-Up at Factory Town in Hialeah that would run for two weekends. Then the Space team started posting stories of what appeared to be finishing touches being applied to the club. The booth (which looks like it got some TLC) was getting the little eye placed back in facing the crowd. The Link Miami Rebels flag was going back up, and an old post that said “Space is Calling” was being reposted. As it turns out, there was an ambitious plan for Space to open by surprise two weekends ago, but the venue still needed some finishing touches before the announcement could be made. Thankfully that day has finally arrived. Space will open on Thursday with 4 nights of mayhem. Thursday night will see Peggy Gou, John Talabot, Alinka, Ms. Mada, and Sister System. Friday will get Green Velvet, DJ Seinfeld, Shermanology, Thunderpony, and Nicole Gallamini. Saturday gets Francis Mercier, Bakke, Malone, and Nii Tei. Finally, Sunday is hosted by Fisher, Danyelino, and Monoky. Tickets are now available for the opening parties. See you on the Space dance floor again soon! The post Surprise! Berlin’s Iconic Watergate Club Closing For Good After 22 Years
Sad news comes today all the way from Germany, as Berlin’s legendary nightclub Watergate will reportedly close its doors at the end of 2024, the team announced today. After two decades of operation, the organizers of the Falckensteinstrasse venue have made the difficult decision to shut down, following a series of financial struggles. “Unfortunately, the realities of inflation, the energy crisis, rising costs in general, and, not least, the high rent for this beautiful location in the heart of the city at Oberbaumbrücke on the Spree, caught up with us“, said cofounder Ulrich Wombacher in conversation with media Resident Advisor. “We’re facing enormous financial pressure, which ultimately led us to the decision not to extend the club’s lease“. Wombacher also cited the growing popularity of larger events and festivals as a contributing factor to the closure. He emphasized that Watergate was founded on the idea of a club as a defining place for a musical generation. With the changing landscape of nightlife, the organizers felt it was time to step down gracefully rather than risk financial decline. Watergate will bid farewell with a special closing program from October until its final day, featuring performances by renowned DJs such as Charlotte de Witte, Sven Väth, Richie Hawtin, and more. Renowned parties like Multisex, Mala Junta, Club Heartbroken, and New Kids on Acid will also be part of the final celebrations. Founded in 2002, Watergate is considered one of Berlin’s most iconic nightlife institutions. While the physical space will close, the Watergate Records label and the wider brand will continue to exist. This announcement follows recent news that nearby club Renate may also shut down when its lease ends in 2025, as both venues are operated by the same landlord. The journey of ISOxo and Knock2 in 2024 has been nothing short of legendary, with their performances rattling major festival stages like Coachella and their surprise debut album sparking widespread acclaim. Now the incendiary duo have announced their final show of the year. Set to rock the Bay Area, ISOKNOCK's upcoming appearance at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium marks the culmination of a monumental year that has seen them relentlessly pushing the boundaries of trap, bass and dance music while fearlessly channeling an unapologetically punk energy. Famous for their no-holds-barred sets, they performed a gravity-defying show at North Coast earlier this month, DJing from inside a shipping container suspended high above the crowd in a bold stunt that captured the intensity and daring nature of their live performances. ISOxo and Knock2 performing from a suspended shipping container at the 2024 North Coast Music Festival.Josh Skolnik Their surprise album 4EVR only added fuel to the fire, combining raw, aggressive basslines with emotional ballads while reflecting the duo's rebellious spirit. While they've announced their final ISOKNOCK-branded show of 2024, their last performance of the year will be the sold-out "SD 4EVR" events on December 7th and 8th at San Diego's Thrive Park, a hometown outing that sold out in record time.
