David Guetta, Keinemusik, Michael Bibi, Luciano & More Announced as DJ Awards Industry Award Winners
The DJ Awards’ highly anticipated 23rd anniversary event takes place on October 2nd at Chinois, Ibiza. The ceremony will see category winners announced once all public votes are counted. Ahead of that, winners of the Industry Awards as chosen by a panel of experts can now be announced. Photo by Andrei Oprescu Founded in 1998 by José Pascual and Lenny Krarup, the DJ Awards have long been recognised as the ‘Oscars for electronic dance music.’ Now under new ownership and with fresh investment after a four year hiatus, the awards make a welcome return and continue to champion excellence in global dance music. Doors open at 10pm with awards ceremony taking place 11.30 to 12.30. BBC Radio 1 tastemaker Jaguar returns to present the awards alongside respected electronic music personality Katie Knight, a regular face in Ibiza, who will also be interviewing artists backstage after the ceremony while the after-party kicks off in the club at 12.30am The winners of each of the voted for categories International DJ Of The Year 2024, Live Act, Breakthrough, House, Tech House, Drum & Bass, Techno, Progressive House, Organic House, Afro and Trance have been chosen by the public and will be announced on the night with nominees listed below. The reboot of the DJ Awards was always planned to recreate what’s been done before but better, which is why the number of awards has been reduced to 19 with a surprise award announced on the night. The new categories reflect the new state of the scene and also lay the foundation for the DJ Awards to expand its reputation and reach beyond Ibiza and promote dance music culture to a broader global audience while returning the integrity of the brand. Interspersed with voted categories, the winners of these special Industry Awards will be presented with their trophies and they have been selected by a specially assembled team of industry professionals. Photo by Andrei Oprescu Ibiza Icon Luciano This award goes to anyone who has, over a long time, made a profound impact on the scene in Ibiza. Someone who has played multiple venues, grown with the success of the island, and given back to it in a social capacity. Cadenza boss Luciano is very much that man. He has DJed in the local prison, hosted talks at public schools, played every venue on the island, held legendary residencies, lived in Ibiza for years and made Spain his home. He has always stayed true to his art and will always be synonymous with the White Isle. He very much helped to transform the Ibiza scene from the early years of Ushuaia to the famous residencies at Pacha, bringing real underground quality and forward thinking sounds before anyone else. Ibiza Party of the Summer David Guetta’s F*** Me I’m Famous at Ushuaia and Future Rave at Hi Ibiza This award does what it says on the tin. The success of a party isn’t judged by the number of attendees, it’s about the commitment to creating a unique experience, the loyalty to a venue and ability to showcase a wide spectrum of creative sounds and abilities and have a real impact on dancers. The famous Frenchman is the only DJ on the island to host two of his own parties and they are the only place he plays in the summer which is a throwback to how parties used to be run back in the day. They very much showcase different sides of his sounds – FMIF is more commercial and VIP lead, while Future Rave offers up and comers a chance to shine. Both events place huge attention on the production with dancers, performers and the VIP experience all taken care of. Ibiza Track of the Summer Adam Port, Stryv – Move feat. Malachiii Historically, this has always been a track you hear in the day, at night, on the beach, in the super clubs. And that is certainly the case this year. This track has been played by everyone from all different musical backgrounds, in beach bars and in the main room, on terraces and at villa parties. It has had more than 200 million streams on Spotify and crossed over into so many different worlds. It’s catchy, singalong and the true sound of summer. What’s Hot Global Keinemusik This is a new category given to a brand or artists that have elevated themselves in the last year onto a whole new level of popularity and success. Keinemusik have done just that and have been everywhere this year playing standout sets in Ibiza but also hosting their own unique events under their iconic cloud. They are able to pull in crowds of up to 35000 people at festival sized events and they always sell out, such is their appeal to a wide range of clubbers from all musical backgrounds and ages. The trio have also done lots for up and coming artists., have remained true to their core and even recently raised 100, 000 euros for charity in Ibiza. Global Festival Defected Croatia This award is given to a festival that has been newly or re-established and is doing something fresh on a global scale such as invigorating a new territory, promoting a certain sound or genre and putting a scene or place on the map. Defected’s superb three day festival in Tisno, Croatia has done just that. It is loyal to the label’s famous house roots with a wonderful mix of established, new and upcoming artists. The audience is diverse in terms of age, gender and sexuality with local and international acts all featuring in a house-centric soundtrack that is both quintessential and cutting-edge. Play It Back Award Michael Bibi’s One Life Campaign This is an award given to a person, institution or event that has bettered the scene socially, charitably or in a humanitarian fashion. After his very public battle with central nervous system lymphoma and recent return to full health, Michal Bibi has put great focus on raising awareness about the rare form of brain cancer he suffered from. He has put a real spotlight on it with his One Life campaign and deserves great recognition. He has raised plenty of money including £124,832 made from his Finsbury Park takeover in London which went to Royal Marsden Cancer Charity but also has a policy of creating awareness at his events. That one in London had a stem cell transplant charity on site to help recruit attendees to sign up to the stem cell register. This forward thinking, positive, altruistic action has all been done from the dance floor up so makes Bibi a more than worthy recipient. Eye on… USA Gospel New York This annual award shifts the focus onto a different territory, starting with America, the birthplace of house music. New York’s Gospel club has had great success in just a few short years. James Huddleston and Juriel Zeligman are the co-founders and the venue is well run with a great mix of regular guests doing their own promotions. It’s a great throwback to how the scene was when it was first born in the 80s with serious focus on the music and residents. The club is a great modern addition to the city but one that never forgets the roots of the scene. Dance Floor Moment In the run up to the awards, people all over the world will have the chance to come to Ibiza dn collect a genuine DJ Award on stage with all the other winners. People have been uploading clips of their favourite dancefloor moments to instagram and tagging @thedjawards with the hashtag #DANCEFLOORMEMORY. This is the start of an annual campaign that will see us recognise the best moments every year of the people who make it all possible, the fans and clubbers of the world. For more information https://djawards.com/dancefloor/ This unmissable night marks the welcome return of the rejuvenated DJ Awards and will be a unique night of celebration for the dance music industry after another epic year. Amsterdam’s The Other Side installs L-Acoustics Immersive Spatial Technology
When Chicago house and Detroit techno emerged in the 1980s, Dutch music fans were among the first in Europe to welcome it with open arms and open minds. From the beginning, Amsterdam was at the forefront of electronic dance music innovation, breeding iconic clubs such as RoXY and iT to champion the new music genres, with established venues like Melkweg and Paradiso following suit. Now a new chapter in music tech is being written at The Other Side, a cutting-edge club founded by producers and musicians Doeshka Vrede and Jasper Löwik, where the rich history of Dutch dance culture meets the future of sound. For Vrede and Löwik, already established figures in Amsterdam’s music scene with their own agency and record label, and now owners and managers of The Other Side together with sound engineer and spatial audio expert Stefan Liem, it was important for the venue to be at the forefront of technology and to deliver new experiences to their audience. “Dutch people have always been at the forefront of technology,” Vrede says. “The environment for electronic music has always been great here.” The catalyst for audio revolution came through Vrede and Löwik’s collaboration with End of Time, a group of acoustic and electronic musicians signed to The Other Side’s agency. End of Time had been experimenting with spatial sound systems for years, and their artist-in-residence status at the club allowed for extensive experimentation with immersive audio setups. “We built a studio for End of Time to be our artist-in-residence at the club. Stefan Liem is their sound architect, and he would sometimes build their spatial setup in the club and experiment with it on dark days. This was our inspiration for asking them what it would take to install a proper immersive system in the club.” Outfitting their 900-capacity main room with L-Acoustics L-ISA immersive audio technology made The Other Side the first club in the world to fully embrace spatial audio. This move not only honoured Amsterdam’s legacy of innovation but also set a new standard for clubbing experiences worldwide. “It was our mission to make spatial audio available to the public,” Löwik says. “We’re exploring new ways to enhance the dance floor experience. With spatial audio, music becomes clearer and more accurate, allowing listeners to enjoy it from anywhere in a room. I believe we’re just beginning to realize how much better music can sound in this format.” The technology is not just changing live performances; it’s reshaping the entire creative process. Some artists are now producing music at home with L-ISA software, eager to bring their projects to The Other Side, which has become a playground for sonic innovation. The club works closely with performers, helping them adapt to and exploit the possibilities of spatial audio. “Stefan reaches out to show them how it works. Even if an artist is only sending out a stereo signal, Stefan manages the spatial mapping, showing them how it looks on the computer,” explains Vrede. “There is definitely a heightened energy level among the artists who understand the system. This enthusiasm is contagious, with artists returning repeatedly to explore the creative potential of L-ISA immersive sound.” The club owners have also worked with artists producing music at home with L-ISA software, who want to hear their projects in a larger venue on a professional sound system. As for those artists already working and regularly performing using L-ISA, “They really prefer our venue for their events. One has already been here four times,” Vrede reports. “There are also artists who hear a spatial set and want to dive in and develop something similar. All the artists who have played on our system want to come back.” “L-Acoustics did a wonderful job making the lives of musicians and producers so much easier,” Löwik says. “From experience, we know how complicated other immersive technology can be to configure, but the L-ISA technology is practically plug and play. You can just dive into the experience and it’s so much more fun.” As word spreads, The Other Side is becoming a hub for those curious about the future of sound. “Now we get requests from people who want to organize events or presentations here. Everybody wants to be in on our party,” Vrede says with pride. The post Amsterdam’s The Other Side installs L-Acoustics Immersive Spatial Technology appeared first on Decoded Magazine.

Listen to Luci's Emotive, Raw Rocktronic Track "Bloodsucker"
Euphoric bass takes a dark turn in Luci's new single "Bloodsucker," out now via Heaven Sent. Blending plaintive vocals with haunting production, "Bloodsucker" follows the May release of Luci's track "Drugs." It had garnered much anticipation following social media sneak-peaks from the EDM.com Class of 2021 star. Luci's own vocals shine from the outset, her vulnerable lament laid bare over only the thrum of an electric guitar. A dark drum beat saturates the building angst, holding throughout the melodic drop to round out the rueful track. After venturing into new territory with a more pop-oriented sound, Luci has used her many talents to blend it with the dubstep for which she become known—and fans are loving it. The Chainsmokers to Reunite With Coldplay for Band's Upcoming Album, "Moon Music"
When The Chainsmokers and Coldplay first joined forces in 2017, the result was nothing short of a storybook ending. Their collaboration "Something Just Like This" dominated the charts, accumulating over 2.7 billion streams on Spotify to become one of the platform's most-streamed tracks of all time. The song's success was meteoric, earning Platinum certifications in over 20 countries. Now, the collaborative force is back for a follow-up ahead of Coldplay's 10th studio album, Moon Music. According to the album's official Wikipedia page, Drew Taggart and Alex Pall of The Chainsmokers are officially credited as songwriters on Moon Music. Their contributions are tied to a track called "Good Feelings," which features Ayra Starr and disco legend Nile Rodgers. Pall also recently teased his involvement by sharing a live performance clip from Coldplay on his Instagram. Moon Music is set to feature an array of prominent producers, including electronic music luminary Jon Hopkins. Considering it's one of the year's most anticipated albums fans are undoubtedly waiting to see if "Good Feelings" can recapture the same magic that made "Something Just Like This" such a massive hit. Coldplay's Moon Music album is scheduled to release on October 4th, 2024. Fans can pre-order the album here. Michael Jackson’s ‘Liberian Girl’ Gets Stunning Afro House Rework By Multi-platinum Artists David May And B. Howard
35 years on from its original release Liberian Girl – the 9th and final single to drop from Michael Jackson’s seminal ‘Bad’ album – has been given a sultry reworking for the 21st century thanks to multi-platinum producers, songwriters, and artists B. Howard and David May. Released on May’s GETREEL33 imprint, this Afro House edit of the pair’s recent take on the single is drenched in thundering, throbbing, tropical-style house heat that gives Jackson’s iconic song a modern, dance-floor-friendly twist. Howard infuses warm tones of soul and R’n’B into his naturally-leaning pop instincts, while David May delivers energy and drive from deep, reverberating basslines, undulating percussion and glistening synths and FX, used to underpin and update instantly recognizable samples from the original track. Both artists come to the project on the back of glittering careers in music. NERO and the Human Cost of Technological Progress
Remember when NERO warned us about the "promises" we made to technology? Well, we've broken them all. The influential electronic band's first two albums whispered of a looming disconnect via cinematic dubstep, but their long-awaited third full-length, Into the Unknown, roars with the realization of that grim forecast. And as they embark on an ambitious audiovisual tour kicking off this weekend, we're now between two worlds, lost in the static of our own creation. NERO's Daniel Stephens, Joseph Ray and Alana Watson have called Into the Unknown the final installment of a trilogy. They said the album "feels somewhat like a bridge" between its predecessors, which explored the search for meaning in the face of dystopia. The album doesn't just continue the story—it rips open the festering wound of our digitally-induced detachment to the point of numbness. In the throes of the AI era and its existential threat to our livelihoods, NERO have written the soundtrack to the forbidden sense of freedom that comes with the human cost of technological progress. And from a purely musical standpoint, Into the Unknown feels like a second skin. "This is where we've always felt that we reside, stylistically," the band said. "We wanted to make sure the album sounded quintessentially NERO and hopefully our fans will feel we succeeded in that." Within a nanosecond of the album's haunting opener, it's clear they haven't lost a step despite nearly a decade between albums. The stentorian voice of NERO frontwoman Watson is a lightning rod, providing clarity and focus amidst the radiant chaos of Ray and Stephens' electronic production. There's a controlled power in her delivery, reflecting the symbiosis between the rod and the structure it protects. The band is now set to take Into the Unknown on an expansive tour sans Watson, who will take a step back after giving birth to her third child with Stephens. Her timeless vocals, however, will serve as the focal point of a brand-new hybrid live show. The tour You can purchase tickets to NERO's tour here and listen to Into the Unknown below. An eponymous tour of the U.S. was scheduled to kick off this weekend, but has now been cancelled in lockstep. "I am pretty crushed to share this news with you, but I know in my heart that I won't be able to give you the performance and energy that you all deserve," Lee said in a statement shared via social media. "You guys deserve me at my best and that's just not where I am right now. I am safe and healthy but at this time, I need to direct all my energy to a family member who needs my support." TOKiMONSTA.Kaio Cesar Lee has requested privacy as she navigates the distressing personal matter, which she characterized as more dire than her 2015 diagnosis of Moyamoya disease, a rare and potentially fatal progressive cerebrovascular disorder that led to a pair of brain surgeries. That ordeal left her temporarily unable to speak and comprehend music. "What I'm dealing with right now feels more emotionally taxing and difficult than anything I've faced before, even more so than my journey through Moyamoya brain surgery," she added. "I hope you can understand how difficult this decision has been because I've never paused my music career before." You can read Lee's full statement below. She has not yet revealed a new release date for Eternal Reverie at the time of this writing. View the original article to see embedded media.

Nathaniel “Nate” Rathbun, better known as American electronic hitmaker Audien, officially presents “So Sad,” a progressive-meets-stutter-meets-piano-house original now streaming on Armin van Buuren‘s renowned Armada Music label. Evident by his recent discography, the Connecticut-born “Kill The Lights” remixer stands out as a golden-age DJ sustaining key relevance in today’s modernized music scene. Without force, “So Sad” vividly captures forward-thinking dance music elements while harnessing Audien’s authentic mainstage appeal. “So Sad” marks the 32-year-old DJ’s third single of 2024, following August-released “Living in Color,” featuring Los Angeles-based vocalist Jeoff Harris, and January-issued “21,” co-produced by Anjunabeats tastemaker Jason Ross. Notably, “So Sad” also marks Audien’s first solo release since “Superhero” arrived last October. With posted tour dates currently spanning through his headline set at Lights All Night Dallas on December 29th, Audien appears poised for a highly successful rest of 2024. Billy McFarland Deletes Video Mentioning Pablo Escobar’s Island For Fyre Fest 2
Billy McFarland and his Fyre Festival 2 keeps making laps around the internet, day after day. In a — now deleted — Instagram video, he was seen commenting “he and his team” were in conversations to acquire one of the private islands located in the Exumas Bahamas chain. In fact, he publicly mentioned it was Pablo Escobar’s private island. The reason for this, he said, was that so many people wanted tickets, they had to move the festival to a new place with a higher capacity to accommodate everyone. Whether there actually are that many people interested in McFarland’s high-cost tickets — of which the cheapest costs $1,400 — or not, you be the judge. The most expensive ticket (and trust us, it is expensive) is $1.1 million, and allows ticketholders to spend their time scuba diving with Billy McFarland himself and “bouncing around to other islands”. Last week, we reported that the Fyre Fest founder claimed over 20,000 people were interested in attending this — hopefully, the first — edition of the gathering. We’re yet to see how that unfolds. The deleted video could be found in this link right here. As to why he took it off, nothing has been said. DJ Snake Surprises Fans at Lost Lands with New Alias ‘The Outlaw’
In a stunning revelation, DJ Snake took to the stage at Lost Lands under a new alias, ‘The Outlaw,’ marking his first performance as this mysterious new persona. Fans were caught off guard, as the announcement came unexpectedly via his Instagram just before the set. Straying from his more popular vocal tracks, DJ Snake leaned into a heavier, darker vibe, showcasing an array of bass-heavy drops, dubstep, and even elements of hard techno. This shift resonated with the crowd, as he expertly catered to their energy despite the radical change in style. The performance also raised eyebrows regarding the future of DJ Snake’s career. Since he announced his “Final Show” at Stade De France in 2025 back in December 2023, speculation about his potential retirement has been rampant. However, he has yet to confirm any plans to retire, leaving fans to wonder if ‘The Outlaw’ could serve as a rebrand or a new direction altogether. Adding to the mystique, DJ Snake donned a black ski mask reminiscent of fellow artist Malaa, while a striking new logo—featuring a snake being stabbed—flashed on the screens behind him. The combination of anonymity and powerful visuals left many in awe, solidifying his impact on the Lost Lands festival. With this bold step into a new identity, DJ Snake has sparked intrigue about the future of his music. Whether ‘The Outlaw’ is a temporary project or a lasting evolution, one thing is certain: fans are eager to see where this new journey leads.

Highly Anticipated Single “Don’t Make Me Wait!” By Lil’T Drops With 5 Remixes, Ahead Of Album Release On PillowTalk Music
PillowTalk’s Lil’T is back with a fresh, modern spin on an 80s classic, packed with remixes from top producers. Known as Lil’T, Michael Tello debuts his first solo single Don’t Make Me Wait! on Pillowtalk Music, giving fans a taste of his solo album, due in winter 2024. The track is a rework of the 1982 hit “Don’t Make Me Wait” by the New York group Peech Boys. Lil’T joins forces with Warren Bruce, aka Big $exy, to give the deep house classic a contemporary twist. The updated version combines Big $exy’s standout vocals with analogue bass lines, punchy beats, and synths that nod to Dr. Dre, creating a blend of classic and modern sounds that bridges generations of house music. Alongside the original, “Don’t Make Me Wait!” comes with three remixes ready for the dance floor. Paris-based producer The Mekanism adds his “Classique Remix”, taking listeners back to the garage house vibes of the early 2000s, giving a nostalgic spin on the track. Lil’T also puts his own stamp on it with the “Disco Revenge Mix”, mixing Big $exy’s vocals with Larry Levan’s original acapella for the Peech Boys, creating a tune that’s primed to become an underground dance floor anthem. Closing out the remix pack, Martin Pérez and Mario Polanco, the duo known as M&M, go deeper with their “After Dark Remix”. This tribal, tech-house version is designed to pull listeners into hypnotic, driving rhythms. With over 200,000 monthly listeners, Pillowtalk is a familiar name to UK and Brazilian audiences alike. It has played iconic venues like Warung Beach Club and Club Vibe, always drawing a crowd for their live versatility. Based between San Francisco and New York, PillowTalk’s line-up may change on stage, but the founders, Sammy D. and Lil’T, are always at the core. Pillowtalk Music is their label. As a DJ and producer with PillowTalk, and now in his solo work, Lil’T is known for his fusion of Classic, Deep, Funky, and Tribal House, as well as Disco, Funk, and Hip Hop. His discography includes releases and remixes on labels like Wolf + Lamb, Soul Clap Records, Kompakt, and Life & Death. Tello has worked with big names like Francesca Lombardo, Groove Armada, and DJ Tennis, and he’s currently working on his solo album “Lil’T”, out in 2024, featuring collabs with PillowTalk, Big $exy, and Hannah Noelle. For DJs, the release also includes Big $exy’s acapella, perfect for mashups or reworks. Don’t Make Me Wait! gives fans the first look at Lil’T’s solo sound, blending past and present in electronic music. With remix contributions from The Mekanism and M&M, this single is set to become a go-to in DJ sets worldwide. This release marks a new era for Lil’T and Pillowtalk Music, with plenty more on the way.
