Day Zero 2025 Transforms Tulum Into a Portal Merging Music and Myth
Equal parts celebration and ceremony, this year’s Day Zero reminded all in attendance that the Damian Lazarus-led festival is an invitation to step outside the confines of time. On January 11th, Lazarus’ sublime event unfolded once again like an ancient ritual reimagined through the lens of electronic music, deep in the jungles of Tulum. In the city's dense, humid air, the trees seem to lean toward you with twisted roots crawling over ancient ground, so perhaps its no surprise that the first thing one is likely to notice at Day Zero is the atmosphere. The sounds of the jungle blend harmoniously with the throbbing basslines that resonate through day and night. c/o Alive Coverage It’s no coincidence that the event is rooted in the spiritual calendar of the Mayans, who saw endings not as finalities but as fertile ground for new beginnings. Airrica and Cole Knight delivered the energy that the moment called for with a hypnotic b2b set, their melodic grooves intertwining with the meditative hum of the jungle. Sainte Vie, one of Mexico’s brightest talents, delivered a live performance that embraced a fusion of organic and electronic elements woven together like past and present. Then came the kind of moment that defines the Day Zero experience. Solomun, Michael Bibi and Lazarus took to the stage for an epic b3b set that was daring and seamless. Previously, their creative fusion only existed in the hearts and minds of their respective fans, but those lucky enough to attend their set witnessed an event that will be remembered for years to come. c/o Alive Coverage Day Zero is often described as a party, but that description alone feels inadequate. Under the glow of art installations inspired by Mayan mythology and amidst the flickering light of fire dancers, the festival’s deeper purpose becomes clear as not only is it a place to escape reality but an opportunity to face it with a newfound sense of wonder. You can find out more about Day Zero here. FOLLOW DAY ZERO:Facebook: facebook.com/dayzerofestival X: x.com/dayzerofestival Instagram: instagram.com/dayzerofestival

SILO Dallas brings world-class production, lineup to Dallas club scene
A major overhaul of the nightlife scene in Dallas is underway. As of May 2024, SILO Dallas has entered the fray as the area’s newest nightclub bringing world-class production to North Texas, with a lineup to match. Three years in the making, SILO Dallas is the brainchild of Donnie Estopinal — better known as Disco Donnie — and entertainment entrepreneur ,Patrick Tetrick. When the duo first began work on the venue in 2021, the 3,145-capacity space was virtually unusable — it didn’t even have a roof. Fast forward to its grand opening in spring of 2024, and SILO has emerged as a state-of-the-art, multi-use event space designed to host the world’s most in-demand DJs. Eric Prydz at SILO Dallas on November 16, 2024 | Photo credit: SILO Dallas For Estopinal, SILO Dallas marks an important milestone. His company, Disco Donnie Presents, has been a major player in the dance music scene for years, known for festivals like Lights All Night, Ubbi Dubbi, and more. However, until now, they lacked a dedicated venue. “We have a fan community hungry for live entertainment all year round,” Estopinal explains. “Even with the success of our festivals, we didn’t have a space in Dallas that we could fully control and call home. SILO solves that.” SILO Dallas’ upcoming calendar features a who’s who of impeccable talent, including Vintage Culture, Mau P, Solomun, Alesso, Tinlicker, Boris Brejcha and many more. Check out the full upcoming calendar below, and head to their website for tickets and more information. Armin Van Buuren And Maddix Prepare For Face-to-Face Set At A State Of Trance
Everybody loves a good back-to-back set where you get to see your favourite DJs collaborate behind the decks to perform some amazing, memorable DJ sets. The concept of back-to-back sets is awesome, but for A State Of Trance 2025, Armin Van Buuren and Maddix are bringing something new. As the closing set for the event Armin and Maddix will each be going behind their own sets of decks to do a face-to-face set which has never been done at an ASOT event. Their DJ booths will be facing each other in what they’re describing as somewhat of a ‘DJ Battle’ where they’ll each be throwing in their own music and styles to bounce off each other. Armin will also be doing 2 back-to-back sets during the event alongside ARTBAT and Ben Hemsley. In the lead up to this Armin and Maddix have been spending time in the studio together preparing for it and have been working on a long overdue collaboration. The track they’re working on is specifically being made with the face-to-face set in mind, so it’s got very trancey parts from Armin and acid from Maddix that should add to that ‘DJ Battle’ feel during the set. With only a few weeks left till A State Of Trance 2025 the anticipation is building for what promises to be one of the best events of the year.

The Big Absences of Tomorrowland 2025 Lineup; Who’s Missing and Why?
Drawing over 400,000 fans to celebrate unity, creativity, and auditory innovation, Tomorrowland turns the Belgian countryside into a throbbing epicenter of electronic dance music every summer. 2025 is not an exception; the roster announcements for the festival are analyzed with the zeal of a Grammy nomination list. While the comeback of the Swedish House Mafia and nostalgic partnerships excite fans, the lack of major names like Tiësto, Alesso, and Keinemusik has generated interest and controversy. This change speaks to the development of Tomorrowland as well as the direction in which EDM itself is headed. Where Are Alesso, Keinemusik, and Tale Of Us? Tiësto, a Tomorrowland essential and trance-turned-mainstage icon, is absent from the bill for the first time in more than ten years. His explosive sets have long been associated with the highlights of the festival, including a historic 2016 mainstage closing. Alesso, whose songs like “Heroes” and “Years” marked the 2010s EDM explosion, is glaringly absent as well. Although both musicians are supposedly concentrating on studio projects and residency, their absence leaves a hole for those yearning for euphoric singalongs, especially when it comes to Alesso. The Swedish producer has gone radio silence for two months now. He is supposed to play at Aspen on the 14th of January and after that at Ultra Music Festival in Miami. With Keinemusik (the trio of &ME, Adam Port, and Rampa) and Tale Of Us providing hypnotic, genre-defining sets, the 2023–24 lineups of the event leaned most toward techno and melodic house. Given their recent supremacy, their 2025 omission begs questions. Tale Of Us at Charles de Gaulle Airport for Cercle Especially lacking as solo performers are Keinemusik’s members. Recent mainstages have seen W&W’s high-energy trance, Dom Dolla’s tech-house rhythms, and emerging artist Mau P predominate. Their absence hints Tomorrowland might be experimenting with new sound limits. Mau P was a 2024 standout with his breakthrough songs “Drugs From Amsterdam,” but his emphasis on a debut album and U.S. tours probably drew him elsewhere. W&W’s big-room sound, meanwhile, seems incompatible with the recently stated “throwback” attitude of the festival. Who’s coming back? Swedish House Mafia are back in the golden era On the other hand, the Swedish House Mafia (SHM), whose 2018 reunion was a cultural reset, marked the triumphant comeback in sharp contrast. Together with a rare Axwell b2b Steve Angello b2b Sebastian Ingresso throwback set, their headline slot promises a rebirth of the golden age of progressive house. Eric Prydz, whose HOLO performance is still a technological wonder, and emerging performers like Anyma b2b Solomun, combining melodic techno with theatrical flair join them. Does 2025 represent a new blueprint or a transitional year? The roster suggests trying to accommodate several demographics by balancing legacy artists (SHM, Prydz) with innovative combinations (Dubvision b2b Third Party). But the lack of trendsetting creates holes in the progressive house niche even with MRAK (missing as a solo act despite his collaboration with Anyma). Swedish maestros deliver melodic masterpiece ‘Closer’
Sweden’s legacy in electronic music is indisputable from Swedish House Mafia to Avicii‘s genre-defining beats. Now, a fresh partnership between TMPST, Phil Odd, and Slow Ted called Closer shows up as a sparkling complement to this venerable legacy. Combining rich soundscapes with emotional resonance, the song goes beyond conventional dance floor fare to create an audio trip reflecting the most joyful highs of life. Published amid a frenzy of melodic house, Closer is destined to be a summer anthem and evidence of the potency of teamwork. Fundamentally, Closer lives on the synergy of its producers. Known for ethereal soundscapes, TMPST combines with Slow Ted, whose ambient compositions encourage reflection, and Phil Odd, a beat architect famous for rhythmic accuracy. Their marriage combines several techniques to produce a track with both complexity and accessibility. The architecture of this tune unfolds like a well-written story. It commences with a simple piano melody set over quiet synths evoking the first light of dawn. Phil Odd’s distinctive drumming shows up by the two-minute mark, creating suspense without overpowering the tune. Though frenetic, the drop retains warmth through Slow Ted’s residual chord progressions and TMPST’s shimmering arpeggios. Rare in modern electronic music, the track’s structure reflects emotional crescendos, making it equally appropriate for festival stages or solo introspection. 5 Things You Missed at Igloofest 2025, an Icy Rave Dreamscape
Montréal's Old Port in 2025 once again became a luminous arctic playground for Igloofest, where the chill of the season only amplified the energy of the crowd. Dubbed "the world's iciest festival," Igloofest has grown from a small-scale winter gathering to one of the city's premier electronic music events, drawing tens of thousands each year since its inception back in 2007. But it returned bigger than ever in 2025, and EDM.com was on the ground to experience it. Imagine ravers dressed up in their boldest snow gear, dancing under starlit skies to the grooves of Michael Bibi, Claptone, Dombresky and more. Their sultry sounds sliced through the frigid air like a warm knife through butter. Over in the vibrant Igloovillage hub, attendees found an adult playground complete with selfie stations, a funhouse with mirrors, a slide and Liquid IV ski shots. Meanwhile, food trucks served up Beaver Tails (a must-try), poutine and crepes. It's difficult to recap a festival replete with highlights, but we've narrowed it down to a handful. Read on to discover five things you missed at Igloofest 2025. Yetis everywhereThe Yetis reigned supreme at Igloofest. Decked out in fur suits, ski goggles and Igloofest jerseys, these lovable mascots blurred the line between performer and partygoer with their boundless energy.
