Avant Gardner Appoints Josh Wyatt As New CEO
The iconic New York City entertainment company, Avant Gardner, has just seen a few major changes in its administration, as they’ve appointed Josh Wyatt as its new CEO. Wyatt brings two decades of experience in the hospitality and nightlife sectors to the role, and he comes at a good time to do so. Wyatt has been actively involved in resolving the lingering issues related to Electric Zoo, including refunding ticket holders and settling with vendors. He aims to improve communication and transparency with stakeholders moving forward. Avant Gardner has also secured a new investor, which has provided growth capital for the company. This investment will allow Wyatt to implement new initiatives and further enhance the venue’s offerings One of the new initiatives being considered is the launch of a music venue and mocktail bar. Additionally, Avant Gardner plans to create new community spaces, such as a hi-fi listening room and immersive art studios. Wyatt’s arrival and the company’s new initiatives demonstrate their commitment to providing a top-notch experience for their patrons. Watch Valentino Khan Redesign the Los Angeles Lakers' In-Game Organ Music
In the pantheon of Los Angeles Lakers legends, Valentino Khan has rewritten the soundtrack. The renowned DJ and electronic producer recently joined forces with the team to rework its in-game organ music. He then heard his work in action at the famed Crypto.com Arena, where the Lakers on Tuesday night hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves for their home opener. It was a big moment for Khan, a lifelong LA sports fan. "I got to re-design the sound of the Lakers organ that plays at every home game," he wrote on social media. "My goal was to restore it to that *classic* Lakers organ sound but add a modern twist to it. If you told me as a kid I’d get to do this one day I wouldn’t believe it." The same goes for basketball legend LeBron James and his son, Bronny, who made history as the first father-and-son duo to play together in the NBA. The Lakers ultimately won by a score of 110-103. Bear Grillz Is Opening a Denver Food Truck With Donut Sandwiches
Bear Grillz is a chef in the studio, whipping up bass-infused beats and blending a variety of sonic flavors into his music. Now, he's turning to a real-life kitchen after announcing the launch of a new food truck, Electric Donut Factor. Serving donut sandwiches, the truck will open in Denver next month. The project is a collaboration between Bear Grillz, electronic music producer Stryer and chef Tom Coohill. Together, they've curated a limited menu of three unique sandwiches that marry sweet and savory flavors. Glazed donuts act as sandwich buns in all three options: fried chicken topped with chipotle mayo, a bacon burger and a breakfast-inspired cinnamon, egg and cheese delight. "We're really excited to get this out to everyone in Denver and then eventually around the rest of the world," Stryer told The Denver Post. "I can't think of a better place to launch it than Denver, a city that's so receptive to new ideas and [has] such a fun culture for this kind of product." The team is now set to host an opening party on November 3rd, colliding culinary experiences and electronic music with a secret lineup of Denver-based DJs at Kulture Music Hall. Electric Donut Factor will reportedly land at festivals and events across the country as well. You can stay up-to-date on the truck's appearances here. A staggering 45,000-plus attendees gathered at London's Finsbury Park to kick off Michael Bibi's "One Life" tour, celebrating the beloved DJ's return after a six-month battle with cancer. The momentous event, which became the largest electronic show in the city's history, is now available to watch in-full on YouTube. Emotions ran high throughout Bibi's headlining set, with tear-jerking footage from his experiences in hospital and clips from his childhood playing on-screen. His father also joined him onstage for a riveting guitar performance. "London. The city I was raised, the place I got my schooling in electronic music & the town I was treated to fight cancer," Bibi wrote. "July 6th, we danced in celebration of life, the power of never giving up, & showed support to the people that helped save my life. I will never forget that day. I envisioned this show while in my hospital bed & seeing it come to life in front of my eyes is one of the most beautiful things I have ever been a part of." Collabhouse Gives Second €5k Promo Campaign Prize Away To Celebrate Ade 2024
To celebrate the arrival of ADE 2024 – and the launch of their industry-disrupting Pre-Cleared Artist Music Library – Collabhouse are once again offering one lucky producer the chance to win €5,000 to spend on a music promotion campaign. The Dutch music distribution and promotion platform – created by Spinnin’ Records co-founder Eelko van Kooten – offered up the same career-defining prize back in August. It had its proverbial hand bitten off as over 2,500 tracks were entered. With so much demand – and this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event right around the corner – van Kooten and his team decided to drop another chance to win. “These targeted promotional campaigns can have a huge impact on the success of a track,” commented Collabhouse CMO, Andy Berendsen. “For example a recent campaign with BEAUZ exceeded expectations, delivering 73k video creations on TikTok, reaching almost 53 million people, and accumulating over 5.7 million streams on Spotify. We’re excited to give more artists the opportunity to achieve such success.” Going live on October 16th to coincide with the opening of ADE, artists have until October 31st to upload tracks to be in with a chance to win. ADE 2024 promises to be the biggest so far for the Amsterdam-based, label-in-your-pocket music solution. Designed with producers at its core, Collabhouse gives artists cutting edge promotion and distribution tools across over 65 different streaming sites and download stores – but that is very much just the tip of the iceberg. The latest jewel in the Collabhouse crown is their brand new Pre-Cleared Artist Music Library, full details of which will be made public next week. Fittingly with the roll out imminent, van Kooten will also be giving an ADE Masterclass on ‘The New Era of Music Promotion – Viral Content, Fan Building, and Career Growth’. Joining him on Wednesday October 16th at ADE Lab’s Mappa Soundbar to discuss life beyond the traditional record label model will be Triller VP Ben Reid, ex-TikTok exec Dan Carter, label head and artist Gallya, and host Mandy Salam-Aubry, founder of Music Services. Collabhouse will also use ADE to launch CollabhouseTV. In association with Reason Studios, SAE Institute, and BAX Music, CollabhouseTV will capture the world’s biggest electronic music conference as it happens, with interviews and sneak peeks at the latest gear and tech. [Event Review] ADE Continues Reign As Best Music Festival Conference In The World After 2024 Edition
Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) is an experience like no other. I have tried to explain it to friends over the years and honestly, it does not compare to seeing it for yourself. This was my 3rd straight year of going to ADE and I think I will go for life. It is an incredible 5 straight days of music, conferences, networking, and so much more. By the end you will be ready to sleep for 20 hours straight… but of course ready to do it all again next year. ADE has already announced the 30th edition taking place October 22nd to 26th 2025. In addition, they will be collaborating with Amsterdam 750. It will celebrate the 750th year anniversary of the Dutch capital and will see many events taking place in Amsterdam throughout the year. I don’t want to jump ahead too far, but next year might really be something special. Let’s first recap how memorable this year was. ADE is a special place where producers from around the world can come together and collaborate. The whole Dance music industry is there, eager to connect with their peers. If you are looking to break into the industry ADE is the place to go. Photo Credits: Niels de Vries The City of Amsterdam I don’t think there is a better city to host the biggest EDM conference in the world. By day, you can experience parties or run around the city to the many tourist attractions. By night, you will have so many shows or festivals to choose from. I find Amsterdam to be so charming to just bike or walk through. The streets are fairytale-like and you might find yourself saying “This looks like Harry Potter“. And that is ’cause it does! The buildings are irregular and jolt out around the curved streets. The city’s layout is perfect for walking but made for biking. I traveled from event to event on the bike and it’s a necessity. Plus you feel like a local too. You can also take the tram or Metro which is option #2 in my view. Driving around and Ubering is not a viable option as it tends to take longer and will be expensive over time. I did Uber to events farther out of the city, AMF for instance. The Dutch are my favorite people (outside of America of course). They are very welcoming and super nice at shows. They are social and have very warm energy to them. Photo Credits: Geschoten door Stephen-vb Fotografie ADE Conference Events If you have a Pro Pass you can attend as many events as you can get to. This is of course if you get enough sleep (not likely). The conference events centered around Felix Meritis but there are many other locations for talks. The events look into the future of the industry and feature talks on a variety of topics for all industry professionals. Some of the biggest talks of the week included Martin Garrix and Friends, Chris Lake & Aluna talking about vocal sessions, Amelie Lens & Charlotte de Witte, and so much more. Sara Landry also talked about her rise in Techno. Indira Paganotto & Joseph Capriati explored creative synergy. Mappa had some great events from Artist Branding: How to Build an Artist Brand to Creating Faster Than You Can Overthink. Photo Credits: BramvBerg The ADE Festival Now to the real fun of ADE. There were more events than you could imagine during these 5 days. The ones I chose to attend were from personal preference and of course no slight to the many many amazing shows around the city. With the Pro Pass, you can hop around to multiple events if you choose. It helps if they are in the inner city rather than the entertainment district about 30 minutes away via the metro. On Wednesday, I kicked off ADE with Merow, Mesto, and closed with Oliver Heldens at Melkweg. Heldens played a very HI-LO focused set and I was happy. This was my most hopping night and it was fun to explore 3 different venues via bike. On Thursday, I continued to hop around first starting at STMPD Night at AFAS Live. It was a stellar lineup filled with immaculate production from Martin Garrix’s label. One of my favorite sets here was Dillon Francis B2B Julian Jordan. After this show, I saw Matroda, Westend, and San Pacho for some afters. On Friday, I saw Tomorrowland Unity of Symphony for the first time. This was 100% my favorite experience at ADE this year. It was incredible to see a symphony play all of my favorites from Avicii to Martin Garrix to Swedish House Mafia. The 2nd half was filled with DJs including Hardwell being supported with live music. After this show, we headed to the Paradise X Loveland experience at Mediahaven. Chris Stussy and Jamie Jones threw down as always. To close ADE off (because I was too tired to go out Sunday) I headed to the biggest festival of the week AMF. Some would say it is the crown jewel of ADE with it welcoming over 40,000 attendees. AMF takes over the Johan Cruijff ArenA with the help of Insomniac and makes it into a massive party. The lineup this year featured Martin Garrix, Tiesto, Timmy Trumpet, Maddix, Wade, Marlon Hoffstadt, Tita Lau, Monocule, and Showtek. Phatwell Unleashes Energy & Euphoria With New Single ‘Free Your Love’
2024 has already been a standout year for Phatwell, with the releases of ‘I Get This Feelin’ and ‘Time You Got For Love’. But the momentum is not stopping there as he now unveils his latest single, ‘Free Your Love’. Created alongside producer Sunmo and vocalist Agnes Lingøy, this new release channels Phatwell‘s signature mainstage energy while also delivering a euphoric and uplifting vibe guaranteed to give you goosebumps from the very first beat. Over the last few years, Phatwell has been meticulously crafting a sound that’s uniquely his own, and you can hear that clearly in this track. He blends heartfelt, emotive lyrics with soaring melodies and powerful synths, evoking the golden age of EDM while pushing the genre forward. ‘Free Your Love’ isn’t just another dance anthem—it’s a track with a deeper emotional core, dedicated to a close friend who found the strength to leave a relationship that left her feeling deprived of love and intimacy. The song was inspired by a poignant moment when she experienced physical touch from a new partner for the first time in years, a moment so overwhelming it moved her to tears. As her emotions, long frozen, were suddenly released, she realized how much she’d been holding back. Phatwell hopes this track inspires others to break free, seek happiness, and stay true to themselves. Stream this single below.

Guest Chart: Erotic Cafe’s Atypical Choices
With a forward-thinking approach and an ever-deepening influence in the drum and bass scene, Erotic Cafe returns with his debut album In The Midst Of Bias, a release that promises to challenge conventions and push sonic boundaries. Known for his genre-blending sound that fuses intricate atmospherics with gritty undertones, Erotic Cafe’s newest work demonstrates a flair for the unexpected. From subtle, shadowy synth layers to disjointed beats, he has a way of weaving a story that’s as emotive as it is dancefloor-ready. To celebrate the release, we’ve invited Erotic Cafe to take us on a journey through the tracks that have inspired him – songs that break the mold and dive into the atypical corners of drum and bass. In this exclusive guest chart, Erotic Cafe shares ten tracks that embody the spirit of boundary-pushing experimentation, exploring realms of drum and bass that often go unnoticed. From under-the-radar gems to iconic pieces that rewrite the rulebook, these tracks represent the kind of bold, evocative style that’s defined Erotic Cafe’s own path in the genre. Prepare to uncover a different side of drum and bass as we delve into his personal selection – a perfect reflection of the unique sound he’s crafted on his latest release. Listen to In The Midst Of Bias Quartz – Cosmic Horror – R&S Records This track, but also his other tracks, left me without words as soon as I listened to it for the first time. I was amazed by the amount of rhythmic innovation and hybrid sounds contained in this track. It can still be defined as drum and bass, but the pattern is not typical at all. That’s the kind of innovation I am looking for when I find inspiration. I love the intricate and mesmerising rhythms and the high tension built by the background atmospheres. It excites me a lot. Heritage – The Revelation (Fiesta Soundsystem Remix) – Scuffed Recordings I find this to be the perfect blend of old-school drum and bass, made of typical breakbeat sounds, and the Aphex Twin glitching techniques. It’s so raw, but also intelligent. It is cruel but deeply programmed. It is the anger of the nerds translated into jungle madness for the dance floor. Simple Technique – Cold Steppin (Ulterior Motive Remix) – Cyberfunk This track really just works every time I play it. Its dark sounds and atmospheres, the minimalistic but funky drum pattern and the dry bassline are perfect for double drops. This perfect balance of sounds blows me away. I could listen to this tune forever and never get tired. RUINNA – Drill Power – NËU Music This is pure madness. I feel so connected with RUINNA in terms of stylistic tastes, that’s why I had to ask him to collaborate on a song together and it came out incredibly crazy. “Drill Power” is one of the tracks that I can’t stop playing in my DJ sets, and every time that I do that, people completely lose their minds. It’s rhythm and sound design at the maximum power. Dj Trace, HLZ – Parasite – Metalheadz I tend to be complex, to produce and to like complex things but, as everyone knows the most effective things are the most simple. That is the case here. I really dig all the parts that make this song, from the raw drum sounds (I love the snare sound) to the dirty bassline that simply works forever and ever. It brings back the real good old vibe of the genre that is getting lost, but implementing the sound pressure that we need nowadays. gyrofield – Calico (Lethargic Mix) – VISION As soon as she releases something new, I can’t wait to hear what she comes up with. I have been listening to her music for years, and it’s very exciting to see her journey and sonic evolution. She’s blending techno with drum & bass, but in a different way. Most of the time when we use these two words together, we expect 4×4 tracks with drum and bass sounds, but that’s not the case. gyrofield is taking the entire techno spectrum (that’s not just made of 4×4 kicks) and forcing it into drum and bass, so it’s basically techno injected with D&B patterns, breakbeats, and audio techniques but analogue sounds. That’s the kind of innovation I love. Listen to the music from new points of view. dBridge – Wonder Where – Nonplus Records It’s hard for me to describe what dBridge’s music provokes inside me. It’s always pushing buttons that are so hidden in the depths of my soul. This one, in particular, makes me feel melancholic for no precise reason. It’s like when you look at old pictures of you from years ago, remembering the moments that made you as you are today, feeling again the same emotions, thinking that things change and nothing comes back. But really, I don’t know why. I love music because it’s rational but can arouse emotions that doesn’t follow any logic. Kavari – Attachment Style – Bandcamp I love distortion, and I tend to put myself in tough situations. That’s why I chose this song. What intrigues me a lot is to play this track and see the uncertainty on the faces of the people on the dance floor. Music exploration is not the safest decision to take, but I like to see any kind of reaction, and risky choices don’t go unnoticed. Kavari is offering a free rush of adrenaline to everyone. Oxius – Vardlokk (Censored The Audio & JuLo Remix) – Incurzion Audio This is the kind of track that’s hard to define as D&B, exactly the same kind of tracks that create feelings that are missing from the standardised schemes that are being used today. That is innovation. Something that can be achieved only with the pure intent of finding new alternatives. It is not dependent on plugins or technological innovations that are pushing the boundaries of sound design, but it’s all about using the head to think and translate ideas into something that hasn’t been tested yet. Current Value – The Field – MachineCode Recordings Current Value is one of my favourite artists. I am still discovering his music from the past and I keep adding it to my collection because it fits so well what I am looking for today. The first time I listened to “The Field” I was driving my car in the countryside, going back home, and I gradually shifted into another dimension. This song completely abducted me and I kept focused on the progression of the sounds for its entire 12-minute length. I realised just some days after that it was that long. It’s a wall made of hypnotic fast-paced sounds that is impossible to climb. Embrace it and you will be fine. Listen To Erotic Cafe’s Lastest Release Here Instagram / Soundcloud / Spotify

Initiative tackling sexual harassment in UK live music venues to roll out
Up to 24 independent music venues in the UK are to receive groundbreaking training to tackle sexual violence and harassment as part of a large scale rollout by national NTE initiative Safer Dance. Expert trainers and speakers from specialist music industry and charity bodies will deliver the pilot – initially taking place in the West Midlands – via a series of awareness days for staff from grassroots live music operations. The programme has been designed to coincide with the arrival of new ‘Duty To Prevent’ legislation under the Worker Protection Act 2023 which requires all employers to proactively prevent sexual harassment in the workplace from Thursday 24 October 2024. Music venues from across the central region, including members of the Music Venue Alliance, will participate in a series of half day workshops throughout November and December 2024. Workers will be trained in identifying, preventing and tackling unwanted sexual behaviour amongst music fans, colleague, and contractors during 120 hours of sessions on sexual harassment policy and culture – led by Michelle Diaz from specialist charity RSVP and artist manager Frances Barber Shillito. Frances Barber Shillito is a passionate advocate and leading voice in the fight against sexual assault and women’s safety within the music and entertainment industries. With a career dedicated to raising awareness and driving change, Frances has become a prominent figure in promoting safe and respectful environments for artists, performers, and industry professionals. Frances Barber Shillito, co-owner of NWN Management, said: “I’m really looking forward to working with Jack and Sam on this project. It’s a subject I’m very passionate about, and I’m honoured that I can be at the forefront of it all with the Safer Dance team. “I’ve really enjoyed taking the time to write, develop and put together the material for the training courses, and I’m very excited to get out there and deliver the programme.” A screening of a new short film When The Music Ends – produced by activist and Safer Dance ambassador DJ Rebekah in association with Beatport – will also form part of the workshop. The dance music producer and DJ, a Birmingham native, has been instrumental in creating awareness for the #MeToo movement in music, specifically with #FORTHEMUSIC, a campaign against sexual harassment and assault, in the club scene. Safer Dance was developed by co-founders Sam Hennerley and Jack Young in 2019 to address concerns around the safety in music and NTE venues by providing an audit model, range of resources and framework for upskilling employers and employees. Sam Hennerley, co-founder of Safer Dance, said: “We’re committed to equipping venues with the necessary tools, knowledge, and confidence to tackle this societal issue effectively. “We believe in approaching this issue with dignity, compassion, and leadership. “Our mission is to create a safer environment for everyone, fostering a culture where safety measures, policies and prevention methods are implemented swiftly and efficiently; with the well-being of our industry at the forefront. ”We’re keen to hear from regional and national partners interested in exploring the Safer Dance model in other parts of the UK, particularly as a collaborative means of instilling more confidence in our NTE.” Major UK venue operators including fabric London and Birmingham-based national arena operator The NEC Group have backed Safer Dance, driving the team to take learnings from the Midlands initiative across the country. Project partners RSVP provide counselling and advocacy support to those subjected to sexual violence, abuse and exploitation. Outcomes of the workshops hosted by Birmingham City University’s Music Business degree course – which Safer Dance co-founder Sam graduated from in 2019 – also include a better shared understanding amongst participants of how to identify, prevent, and tackle intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive behaviour. Data from the 2022 UK census suggests around 17% of the UK population have experienced sexual abuse since the age of 16, whilst a recent NUS study stated that 1 in 5 British students, primarily women, experience unwanted sexual behaviour. In recent years, high media interest around gaps in risk management and harm reduction provision in the NTE has negatively impacted the reputation of the nightlife sector, leading to the formation of Safer Dance and other initiatives. The project supports wider efforts across the country to increase audience engagement and confidence with live music venues and clubs, amidst a challenging climate for NTE and grassroots live music operators. Jack Young, co-founder of the Safer Dance initiative, said: “Safer Dance was born from a simple belief: everyone deserves to enjoy nightlife without fear of harassment. “By working hand-in-hand with venues, we’re creating lasting solutions that prioritise safety, accountability, and respect. “Our mission is to future-proof the night-time economy, ensuring that every space is welcoming and secure today and in the future.” The Safer Dance West Midlands pilot funding partners include the Commonwealth Games Legacy Fund, the Heart of England Community Foundation, and West Midlands Combined Authority. CamelPhat Announce Charity Gig To Support Children’s Hospice
Liverpool’s own CamelPhat, the powerhouse duo of Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala, have announced a special charity gig in their hometown. On November 1, CamelPhat will perform at the Invisible Wind Factory, with all proceeds going towards Zoe’s Place, a beloved children’s hospice at risk of shutting down. This rare local appearance by the internationally acclaimed duo is not only a gift to fans but also a lifeline for the hospice that cares for Liverpool’s most vulnerable young ones. A Critical Cause for Zoe’s Place Zoe’s Place, established in 1995, provides respite, palliative, and end-of-life care for babies and young children between the ages of zero and five. Unfortunately, the hospice’s future is in jeopardy as its current lease is set to expire at the end of the year. Facing an urgent relocation crisis, the hospice needs to raise £5 million by November 9 to find a new site and avoid closing its doors. Zoe’s Place has been a cornerstone of the Liverpool community, providing essential care to families in need, and losing it would be a significant blow. The fundraiser has already garnered more than £2 million, thanks to high-profile donors like football legends Steven Gerrard and Peter Reid, MP Ian Byrne, and singer Peter Hooton. CamelPhat’s charity event will further boost these efforts, offering fans an unforgettable night while supporting a truly vital cause. A Hometown Homecoming for CamelPhat Despite playing packed venues across the globe, CamelPhat rarely get the chance to perform in Liverpool, making this event even more special. Having formed in the city back in 2006 after meeting at 3 Beat Records, the duo skyrocketed to fame with tracks like their 2017 Grammy-nominated hit ‘Cola’. Their return to Liverpool will be a moment of homecoming, both for them and their fans, as they come together for this heartfelt cause. Joining CamelPhat on the night will be another Liverpool icon, DJ Yousef, known for running the legendary Circus event series. Together, they’ll deliver a night of house and techno music that promises to be electric. Music with a Mission CamelPhat’s involvement goes beyond just music. Their charity gig is an opportunity for the dance community to rally behind Zoe’s Place and ensure it continues to serve Liverpool’s children. Tickets for this event go on sale October 24 at 10 AM via Skiddle. This is not just a chance to see CamelPhat perform in their hometown, but also a way to contribute to a cause that could change lives. Don’t miss out on this incredible night of music, community, and charity at the Invisible Wind Factory on November 1. Let’s help Zoe’s Place secure its future! In conclusion, you can join the waiting list for tickets here. Be sure to donate to the fundraiser here.
